This is another original chapter made up by me! Sorry if it's long!
Usagi and Chibiusa woke up to another day in Juuban, looking forward to whatever this day would bring her. But no sooner than she opened her door, Harusuke dashed by, almost knocking the two ordangos over.
"Hey! Watch where you're going, Harusuke!" Chibiusa complained.
"Whoops! Sorry about that, girls!" apologized Harusuke. "In a rush and can't talk! Got to get ready to go!"
"But, wait a minute! Where are you going, Bro?" Usagi called. "And why is it so important that you have to go first thing in the morning?! You've been doing this over a couple of days now."
"As I said, I can't talk! I have to go!" Harusuke called back. "If Luna asks, tell her that I'm going to be busy!"
And before Usagi could even say a single word more, Harusuke had already gone, disappearing into the hallway. Usagi felt puzzled and also a bit suspicious as she stood there in front of her doorway, pondering.
A little while later, Usagi and the others all met up at Hikawa Shrine, Usagi explaining to everyone about Harusuke's recent behavior.
"...and so he's been like this for a few days now," Usagi finished explaining. "I've tried asking him, but he would always brush me off."
"Well, that seems weird," said Rei. "Usually Usagi's the one that runs off impulsively, but not Harusuke. So I wonder what he could be up to?"
"It's not just him; Makoto's been acting weird too," said Minako. "I asked her if she wanted to go shopping with me, but she said that she had something to do, and it couldn't wait."
"It seems as though Harusuke and Makoto have been busy with things," Luna said thoughtfully. "Seems a bit suspicious."
"Maybe those two are having a secret rendezvous?" joked Artemis. "I mean, Makoto is a bit boy crazy, and Haruske is an ideal guy for her."
"Artemis, give me a break. As if those two are out on a date," Minako scoffed. "I mean, Harusuke and Makoto wouldn't be spending time with each other on a date, would they?"
There was a long pause, and after a few seconds, everyone burst into a bit of laughter, thinking that what Artemis said was silly. However, three of the girls were somewhat concerned on the inside but didn't say it out loud. Then Usagi spoke up.
"That does sound silly, but shouldn't we try and look for them just to be sure they're not up to anything?" asked Usagi. "You know, on the off chance that they're not up to something?"
"Normally, I would call that eavesdropping and wouldn't agree to that, Usagi, but for once, I agree with you," said Rei. "We're going to find Harusuke and Makoto and find out what they're up to."
"Sounds like a plan!" grinned Minako. "Let's go!"
Artemis, Luna, and Ami could only stay silent as they sweatdropped in disdain.
In another part of Juuban downtown, Petz was all by her lonesome. Ever since she had left the other day, she had been wandering around Juuban, with no particular place to call home. She felt tired, miserable, and, worst of all, lonely and resentful.
She was lonely because she wanted to be with her sisters. However, due to everything that had happened back on the bridge, she wasn't sure if she wanted to join them out of fear. Petz also felt resentful towards the Guardians because she thought they took them away from her, upset towards Rubeus for forcing her to act the way she did. But, most of all, she felt resentful towards herself for behaving so shamelessly.
As she walked on, Petz happened to bump into a random guy brushing against his shoulder, making him stop. At first, the guy seemed mad, but when he saw Petz, he couldn't help but be charmed by her beauty.
"Hey there, Cutie. What's a girl like you doing in a place like this?" the man asked, trying to be suave.
Petz pretended she didn't hear him and was about to continue on her way when the man grabbed her by the wrist, stopping her.
"Come on, Hun. Don't be cruel. I'm sorry for bumping into you if that's what you're mad about," the man smiled. "In fact, how about I take you out to lunch or a cup of coffee as my way of saying sorry?"
At that moment, Petz sent a strong current of black electricity shot through the man's arm and shocked him throughout his body, making him yelp and warble in agony as he collapsed to the ground. Petz then continued on her way, her hand crackling and sparkling as she clicked her tongue.
"They're all the same, every last, pitiful man on this Earth," Petz murmured coldly to herself. "I can't trust anyone, not even my sisters, who turned their backs on me! And it's all because of Rubeus and those Guardians! If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be in this position. I swear, when I see them, I'll kill every last one of them! I'll show Rubeus, who's expendable!"
Then suddenly, as she rounded a corner, a particular blonde boy ran past her, and though it was only for a split second, Petz recognized the boy. At the same time, Usagi and her group came running past, making sure to keep their distance away from the boy. Petz, at first, was speechless, but seeing this as an opportunity, she silently followed them, fading away.
Meanwhile, Harusuke was running as fast as he could, heading towards a particular building in the middle of town. Little did Harusuke know, Usagi and the others were following him. Soon enough, he could see a certain someone waiting for him by a corner, which was none other than Makoto.
"Sorry, I'm late, Mako," Harusuke panted. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting long."
"Not at all," replied Mako with a light smile. "I wasn't waiting that long myself. So you all set to go?"
"You bet I am," Harusuke said, smiling. "Let's get going."
The two then set off together, while Usagi's group observed them from behind another corner, making sure that the two didn't leave their sight.
"Those two seem to be close right now," said Usagi. "It sure is starting to look like a date."
"Well, we can't say that for certain," said Ami. "Maybe the two are going shopping for food, so Makoto can give him cooking lessons."
"Ami could be right," said Luna. "Besides, why would Harusuke and Makoto even start dating in the first place without saying anything to anyone. I mean, Harusuke's still reeling after what happened with Zoisite."
"But what if he's finally gotten over it and has decided to try dating with Mako?" suggested Minako. "It could happen. For all we know, Mako and Harusuke could be practicing being lovey-dovey and kissing."
"No, there is no way that's what they're doing!" Rei suddenly cried. "It's ridiculous! There's no way that Harusuke would go and do stuff like that!"
"Yeah! That's right!" Usagi agreed. "No one is going to be dating my brother unless I have anything to say about it!"
Artemis, Luna, Ami, and Minako couldn't believe their ears as they were a bit surprised.
"Did... Rei and Usagi finally agree to something?" asked Luna quietly.
"I think they just did," said Artemis. "Is the world coming to an end?"
"Geez, take it easy, you two," Minako eased. "I was only kidding. I mean, they're no way those two would ever do something that cheesy, right?"
Usagi and Rei glared at Minako in response, not saying another word.
Eventually, Harusuke and Makoto came to a building and went inside it. Upon seeing it, Usagi and the others recognized it as the ice arena where they had fought Janelyn and Misha when they got possessed.
"Say, isn't this the Juuban Ice Arena?" asked Usagi.
"It is. We went skating here and went up against the Gold Medalist Pair a while back," Ami said. "Ever since then, I heard that they've been going under renovations. I guess they reopened recently."
"So Harusuke and Mako are going on a skating date, huh?" Minako spoke, sounding impressed. "How interesting and yet very romantic!"
"Will you stop with that, Minako?!" Rei snapped. "Harusuke and Mako couldn't be on a date. For all we know, they're probably practicing their skating! So why do you always have to twist everything into a love story?!"
"Whoa, Rei. Take it easy!" Minako squeaked. "No need to get angry."
"Yeah. You're taking this a little too seriously," Ami said. "What's gotten into you?"
Rei's cheeks tinged pink as she pondered a bit before responding. "I-I don't know. I don't think Mako and Harusuke would be dating, and I think the idea is ridiculous. That's it."
Usagi then rose a suspicious brow. "You sure about that, Rei? Because it looks to me that you look a bit jealous."
"Don't be ridiculous, Usagi," Rei huffed. "Why would I be jealous of someone who has a meatball head for a sibling?"
"Hey! No need to be mean!" Usagi huffed back.
"Stop arguing, you two," Minako cut in. "Harusuke and Minako had already gone inside. Let's go and follow them already."
The group then went inside the building. They soon came to the ice rink, and they saw two people in the center of it. One was Makoto, skating in a spread eagle, and the other was Harusuke, spinning at rapid speed before coming to a stop.
"Nicely done, Harusuke!" Makoto called. "You're doing great, but make sure you stay balanced and keep your posture."
"OK!" Harusuke called back.
The blonde Tsukino then set off skating again, posturing his body into a spread eagle, unaware that Usagi and the others were watching them. He gathered speed and did a light spin performing a toe loop. He then went towards Mako and started skating alongside her as they both spread-eagled towards the rink's center and rapidly spun, finishing their little routine. At that moment, they both heard the sound of applause coming from the sidelines. The two looked up, and they could see Usagi and the others there and then skated over to them.
"Usagi? Everyone? What are you guys doing here?" Mako asked. "And how exactly did you find us here?"
"That's our line," said Usagi. "What are you and Harusuke doing here in the ice rink?" She turned to Harusuke. "And is this the reason why you've been acting strange lately?"
Harusuke scratched his cheek sheepishly. "Well, it's a long story," he said. "But let me start with this."
He then dug into his pocket and held up a flyer, which had a picture of a skater on it, and had large letters which read: AMATEUR SKATING COMPETITION AT THE JUUBAN ICE ARENA! Usagi and the others inspected it.
"You see, Mako saw that flyer, and naturally, she wanted to enter the contest," Harusuke explained. "However, she was having trouble finding a good partner, so..."
"I asked Harusuke if he could help me out, and he has been helping me practice," Makoto cut in. "He's also been practicing along with me and gotten better at skating himself."
"Oh, I see," Usagi nodded as she hummed. "So, this is why Harusuke's been coming and going lately."
"Do you hear that, Minako?" Rei grinned smugly. "Seems to me that Harusuke and Mako weren't on a date after all."
Minako then pouted. "Alright, already. You don't need to rub it in, Rei."
Harusuke and Makoto then laughed.
"Come on. Us? On a date?" Harusuke chuckled. "Sounds to me that your imaginations have been running wild as usual."
"Anyway, we should be getting back to practicing," said Makoto. "The competition's happening in a few days, and I've got to make sure I'm in top form." She looked at her friends. "You guys can stick around and watch us if you want. Heck, we can even teach you a couple of moves if you want."
"Thanks for the offer, but we're going to have to pass," Ami said. "Besides, we don't want to get in the way of your practice, especially since you're both are such great skaters."
"Well, I wouldn't go as far as a great skater, Ami," Harusuke spoke, appearing to be a bit shy. "Mako's the real skating master here. I'm still learning."
"Are you kidding, Bro? Your skating is almost as good as Mako's!" Usagi spoke with admiration. "You're way too modest."
"That's because the moves that I've been doing are the simple ones," Harusuke said. "However, there's still one move that I've been trying to do, but I just can't get right."
"What move is that?" asked Luna.
Harusuke then looked up towards the ceiling before responding. "It's a jumping technique called an axel jump," he explained. "It is considered one of the most basic jumps in figure skating, but I haven't gotten that down. So the best I can do is a simple waltz jump."
"Waltz jump? What's a waltz jump?" wondered Usagi.
Harusuke then looked at his sister and smiled. "Rather than tell you, how about I show you?" He skated towards the rink's center, gaining a bit of momentum as he curved to his left. As he did, he launched himself with his left foot, doing a slight spin, and then landed on the ice with his right foot skating backward. He returned to the others shortly.
"That was a waltz jump," Harusuke said. "It's a pretty basic jump, but the one I'm going for is a lot more advanced. Mako, naturally, is a master of that jump."
"So are there multiple jumps like the ones you mentioned, Harusuke?" asked Minako.
"Of course, there is," Harusuke said. "There's a total of seven different jumps in figure skating. Those jumps are Waltz Jump, Salchow, Loop, Toe-Loop, Flip, Lutz, and Axel. Right, Mako?"
"You got it," Makoto smiled. "And you shouldn't sell yourself short for when it comes to doing that kind jump. You've almost had it a couple of times."
"Yeah, before I fell flat on my face in the ice," Harusuke chuckled. "But I ain't worried. I'm having too much fun anyway."
"So am I," grinned Makoto. "But I should probably get back to practicing. After all, the competition's a few days away and ain't got time to dilly-dally."
"Right," agreed Harusuke. "In that case, I'm going to go ahead and take a break."
Makoto then started again, getting a running start, then she jumped up performing a perfect triple axel and was going for another jump when trouble came. As the girls applauded for her, Mako looked at them, giving a wave, and started skating backward to go for another leap, but as she took off jumping, she launched herself incorrectly, and she felt herself begin to lose her balance in midair. Knowing that she was about to fall, Makoto instinctively stuck out her leg, trying to save herself, but in her haste, stuck the pick of skate into the ice and then twisted it unnaturally, causing her to fall to the ice. Everyone gasped and rushed over to the closest edge, while Harusuke immediately got back onto the ice going over to her.
"Mako! Are you alright?!" Harusuke asked. "That was a nasty fall!"
Makoto smiled. "Don't worry, I'm fine," she reassured him. "I've taken worse falls than that."
But when she tried to get back up, Makoto felt a sharp pain shoot up her leg, causing her to yelp and hiss as she crumbled to the ice. Harusuke quickly leaned down and helped her up, skating her over to one of the entrances as promptly as possible.
Usagi and the others were now at the Juuban Hospital, waiting impatiently anxiously outside the room. Then, finally, the doctor came out, and with his OK, everyone shot up and went inside. Makoto was lying on a bed, her leg elevated by a pillow and her ankle wrapped in a bandage.
"Doctor, is Mako going to be OK?" asked Usagi worriedly.
"She'll be fine," replied the doctor. "Luckily, she got good friends like you who got her over here as fast as possible. The bad news is that she's got a sprained ankle. It would be best if she'd stayed off of it for a few days, give or take a week."
"A week?!" exclaimed Harusuke. "But that means-"
"It means I'm going to have to drop out of the ice skating competition," Makoto finished somberly, a frown evident on her features.
"I'm afraid so, my friends," said the doctor. "Unless you want your leg to get even worse."
The doctor then went out of the room.
"Sorry, Mako," apologized Minako. "We all know how much you've wanted to win that ice skating competition."
"It's all right," Makoto said. "I mean, I can't exactly skate with my leg like this. It does suck that I'm not going to be able to skate."
"It is a shame," said Rei.
Usagi then had an idea. "Wait, what if I use the Silver Crystal to heal Mako's ankle? Then she'd be able to compete!"
"Usagi, you know you can't do that," scolded Luna. "It's not only a bad idea, but it's also foolish!"
"Luna's right. If Usagi used the Silver Crystal to heal Mako's ankle, it would start attracting attention," added Artemis. "Not to mention that it isn't right to be using the Crystal something like this.
"And knowing Rubeus, if he somehow caught wind that, there's no doubt that he would come looking for the Silver Crystal and Chibiusa, and that'll open a can of worms," added Harusuke.
"But there must be something we can do to help, Mako," said Minako. "Isn't there someone that can take your place or something?"
Then an idea bubbled up in Mako's head. "Maybe there is. I think I know the perfect person!"
She then looked across at the person in question, which caused everyone else to look at the person as well, the person turning out to be Harusuke, who was most surprised.
"Wait, me?!" Harusuke squeaked, pointing at himself. "But, I can't do it!"
"Sure, you can, Harusuke," said Makoto. "You've been practicing a while now, and you've got most of the moves down."
"Yes, but I still haven't mastered the axel jump yet!" Harusuke protested. "Besides, most of the other moves are simple compared to that one! I'm a novice compared to you!"
"You don't have to do the axel jump. You can just come up with your own routine," said Makoto. "Plus, you've been practicing and working so hard. I've seen you. So please say you'll do it. You're the only one who I can ask."
Harusuke was at a loss for words, unsure what to say as he turned to his friends, looking for some support.
"I think you should do it too, Harusuke," Usagi said. "You'll do great!"
"As do I. As Mako said, you're the only skater that can help her," added Ami. "Plus, it would be wonderful to see how much you've improved since the last time you've skated."
"You've got my support, too," said Rei. "We'll help you in any way we can."
"Yeah! Go for it, Harusuke!" Minako nodded.
Harusuke looked at every one of his friends and then back towards Makoto. After thinking about this for a few seconds, a small smile worked its way to Harusuke's cheeks.
"Well, how can I say no after all of that?" Harusuke sheepishly grinned. "If you all have that much faith in me, I suppose I can give it a shot."
"You mean it?!" Makoto gasped, her face lighting up with joy.
"Why not, Mako? Think of this as my way of saying thank you for being my skating teacher," Harusuke said. "It would be my honor to take your place."
Makoto then shot up, wrapped her arms around Harusuke's neck, and pulled him into a big hug.
"Thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much, Harusuke!" Makoto whooped happily. "You're the best of the best of the best!"
"Y-You're welcome, Mako, but you might want to ease up on the hugs a bit!" Harusuke choked out. "You don't want to injure me before I even get into the rink!"
As this went on, they all failed to realize that someone happened to be standing outside of the room overhearing their conversation, which turned out to be Petz. She had heard everything and had come up with a devious plan.
"This is all too perfect~," Petz snickered to herself as she disappeared from the doorway.
The following day, Harusuke was practicing his moves with other contestants. So far, he could perform the tricks he knew pretty well. First, he skated across the ice in a backward crossover, went forward, and went for a small bunny hop. After that, he started again and started racing into a spread eagle circling the ring. Then he slid forward and performed a couple of quick spins. Then as he skated on, Harusuke raised his right leg and prepared to jump, but when he did, he started losing his balance, and sensing that he was about to fall, Harusuke immediately leaned forward and then fell on his side.
Harusuke wasn't hurt, but he was annoyed. "Darn it! Not again! Why do I always react when I'm about to fall?! Oh, well. One more time."
He placed his hands on the ground putting his right foot between them and the other. Then, just as he got back up to his feet, he heard a voice.
"Hey, Harusuke. Nice moves out there!"
Harusuke looked up, and just on the edge of one of the entrances, he saw Usagi and the others waving along with Calaveras. Harusuke then went over to them, feeling a bit surprised.
"Girls? What are you doing here?" Harusuke wondered. "And Mako, shouldn't you be at the hospital resting?"
"Don't worry, I'm fine," smiled Makoto. "Besides, the doctor cleared me, and I can walk. The only downside is that I have to walk around in this walking boot." She then pointed to the boot in question
. "I figured I'd come and see how you were doing after I got this on. On my way here, we ran into Calaveras and wanted to come along with us."
"So this is an ice rink," Calaveras spoke in awe. "How beautiful. I've never seen anything like this before. It's like they're dancing."
"It technically is, Calaveras," Rei chuckled. "Then again, this is probably the first time you've seen something like this."
"So, how have you've been holding up, Calaveras?" asked Ami. "Are you adjusting to being a human well?"
"Well, somewhat. I'm still trying to get used to your cultures," replied Calaveras. "But Berthier and Koan have been showing me many things, and I'm starting to love it here." Her mouth turned into a frown. "I only wish that Petz was here to see the things I'm learning."
"Don't worry, Petz. We'll find her," Minako reassured. "Granted, we haven't been able to find her, but we haven't given up. Until then, try to stay positive, OK?"
"I'll try my best," Calaveras spoke, giving Makoto a light smile.
"Speaking of trying their best, how's it coming, Harusuke?" wondered Makoto. "Still can't do an axel jump?"
Harusuke nodded in response. "I still can't seem to get the hang of it. Every time I try, I start to lose balance and instinctively fall."
"Understandable," said Makoto. "But that's the tricky thing about axel jumps. However, I know you'll get it."
"An axel jump?" Calaveras wondered. "Is that a name for a weapon of some kind?"
"No, it's nothing like that," Makoto chuckled. "It's just a name for an advanced ice skating move Harusuke's trying to master."
"But he'll be able to do it!" Usagi spoke proudly. "I know he can. After all, he's my bro, and he has one of the best ice skating teachers in the world!"
"Well, thanks for the bode of confidence, Sis, but I still have a long way to go," Harusuke chuckled. "Not to mention it's a tad nerve-wracking."
"You'll do fine, Harusuke," reassured Makoto. "Remember what I taught you when you're skating; keep calm, skate with confidence, and have fun. Just do your best."
"Thanks, Mako. I will," Harusuke smiled. "Now then, I better get back to practicing. I'll be out in a bit, OK?"
Harusuke skated back onto the ice, ready to resume practicing. He had just gotten to a running start when someone came gliding past, cutting him off, causing him to skid to a stop, almost falling over. The skater was a young woman with a black beanie and wore a fancy green sweater and black jeans.
"H-hey! Watch where you're going!" Harusuke called crossly. "You could have run me over!"
As he did, the woman in question curved and performed a perfect axel jump, landing and skating backward. Usagi and her group and the other people on the rink could only watch with amazement as the woman continued to slide across the ice.
"Wow. That girl's pretty good," said Ami. "Her pose is perfect, and she's radiating in confidence."
"No kidding," agreed Minako.
The woman continued to skate edging and then spun around and around in a tight scratch spin, making her a blur. She then stopped herself and continued with skating going for a spread eagle. The woman soon finished in an elegant pose, and the people that watched her all clapped. Even Harusuke couldn't help but be impressed.
"She's good," Harusuke thought to himself. "I'd say that she's around Mako's skill level, if not more. I wonder who she could be."
"Man, she's like a pro skater," one girl said. "She's got my fav for winning."
"Yeah, me too," said another girl.
The woman then skated past Harusuke, looking at him while smirking snootily. Harusuke now was a bit cross, but at the same time, he also felt self-conscious and worried, but he tried to pay no mind as he resumed practicing. As he skated along, the woman kept a close eye on him as he practiced. She also glanced over at the stands and saw Usagi and the others, gazing particularly at Calaveras. She was, of course, Petz in disguise, but no one knew this yet. She then exited the rink smirking darkly to herself as she began formulating her plan.
After a few hours of practicing, everyone had gone home for the day. Makoto was now resting in her apartment, tending to her plants while making tea. She had just finished watering her third plant when her doorbell chimed. Makoto then went over to the door and found Harusuke standing in her doorway.
"Harusuke, it's you," Makoto spoke with a hint of surprise.
"Hey, Makoto," Harusuke greeted. "You mind if I come in for a while?"
"Of course, you can," smiled Makoto. "I was just about to make some tea."
The two of them then went inside, and Harusuke took a seat at the table. After a while, Makoto served the tea, its aroma wafting into Harusuke's nose. Harusuke took his cup and took a few tiny sips.
"Wow, Makoto. This tea is delicious," Harusuke said.
"Thanks. It's rose tea, one of my many specialties," Makoto winked as she sat down with Harusuke. "So, what's up? It's not every day that you come over to my apartment to visit me."
Harusuke then stared at his cup, looking glum as his thumb traced over its handle absently. "Well, the thing is, it's about the ice skating contest. I know I said I would try my best to win, but now I'm not feeling as confident."
"It's because of that woman you saw, isn't it?" Makoto said.
Harusuke answered with a nod. "Yeah. She's magnificent, like as good as you are good. Maybe even more," he went on. "Because of that, I'm feeling more nervous about losing than before."
Makoto looked across to Harusuke while putting her cup down. "And let me guess; you're worried that you'll let me and everyone else down. Does that about sound, right?"
Harusuke then looked up. "Y-Yes. How did you know that?"
Makoto smiled. "Because I was feeling the same way you're feeling before," she said. "Mind if I tell you a story?"
Harusuke answered with a nod, and Makoto then began.
"Well, this was back when my parents were still alive before they died. When I was little, my parents were teaching me how to ice skate, and let me tell you, it was hard. I kept slipping and falling every few seconds, which hurt a lot. Even though my parents were there to help me, I remember how other people were skating way better than me, which made me feel bad for being such a newb. But, my parents taught me something that changed my outlook on skating. They told me that there's no point in stressing about being the best at skating if it's going to suck the fun out of it, and having fun is truly the secret to getting better. Ever since then, I stopped worrying and decided to focus on having fun and spending time with my parents, and it worked."
"So, what you're saying is, I should just have fun and not worry about winning?" Harusuke said. "Sounds like something Ami would say. But, I'm still can't help but worry, Mako. I mean, you taught me everything I know about ice skating, and yet I still can't get that axel jump right. I know I shouldn't, and winning shouldn't matter to me, but how do I keep from worrying about it?"
Makoto then got up, leaning over the table, and before Harusuke had a chance to react, she kissed him right in the middle of his forehead. Harusuke's face immediately went pink, and he was so surprised; he almost shot up.
"W-What was that for, Mako?!" Harusuke asked while holding his forehead.
Makoto giggled. "It's a good luck charm to help you stop worrying."
"Well, yes, but you could have given me a warning if you're going to do that!" Harusuke squawked flusteredly.
"Come on. Don't think anything of it," Makoto chuckled. "Besides, it worked, didn't it? You've stopped thinking about worrying."
Harusuke stared at Makoto, still feeling embarrassed, but he realized that Makoto was right. He couldn't stop thinking about the kiss, which made him feel a bit better, despite being a bit embarrassing.
"Thank you, Mako," Harusuke said. "I feel like I can do anything now."
"You're quite welcome," Makoto said. "But don't tell Usagi. If she found out what I did, she'd go into little sister mode, and we both know how that goes."
Harusuke then got up. "You know? I'm going to prepare myself for the contest some more," he said. "And no matter what happens, I'm going to have fun. So I'll see you later, Mako. Thanks again."
Mako answered with a wave, and then Harusuke left the apartment. As soon as he was gone, she went to her chair and hugged a stuffed animal on it. While she did, her cheeks flushed bright pink.
The day of the ice skating contest arrived, and the Juuban Ice Arena's stands had lots of people eager to watch the skaters compete. Among the crowd, Usagi and her group were there along with the Spectre Sisters, all looking forward to seeing Harusuke compete. However, they didn't know that Petz was laying a trap for them along with Harusuke, as she stood among the competitors.
"This is so exciting!" Berthier squealed. "I've never seen ice skating before! This event should be fun to watch!"
"So, you think that Harusuke might win?" Koan asked Rei.
"I can't say for certain, but Harusuke has been under Mako's tutelage, so he should be fine," Rei said. "It would be awesome if he won."
"You can do it, Harusuke! Knock their socks off!" cheered Usagi.
"Yeah! Win this one for Mako!" Minako shouted.
Harusuke looked up, hearing them, and gave them a wave, and gave Makoto a thumbs-up, of which she returned with one of her own. The contest then got started. Many different skaters took their turns performing various routines while being judged based on scores. Soon enough, it was Harusuke's return. After steadying his nerves, he skated onto the ice, and the crowd clapped. He was about to start his routine when a loud and devious cackle echoed around the arena. Then from above, everyone could see someone hovering, the person turning out to be Petz.
"Sorry, but this contest is officially canceled," Petz spoke. "But don't worry, I shall provide you with entertainment, for me, that is!"
"It's Petz!" cried Koan.
The eldest Spectre Sister held up her hands in the air, and from both of them, streams of black lightning erupted, crackling and sparking throughout the area. The people in the stands immediately fled with fright along with the constants. Harusuke tried to escape, too, but he was quickly cut off by a bolt of lightning.
"Not so fast, boy. Why don't you stay here?" Petz cackled as she slowly came down. "You and I have some unfinished business."
Harusuke could only back away while trying his best to be brave. Usagi and the others knew they had to take action, and all started to leave the arena when Usagi noticed Mako following them.
"Mako, hold on. There's no way that you can fight," Usagi said. "You need to stay with Koan, Berthier, and Calaveras."
"But I can help!" protested Makoto. "I can't just sit around and do nothing while Harusuke's in danger!"
"Usagi's right, Mako," Ami said sternly. "Your ankle is still sprained. If you were to fight now, you'd only get in the way."
"Koan. You and the others take care of Mako," Rei spoke to the Spectre Sisters. "Make sure she's safe."
"Will do," Koan said bravely.
And before Makoto could protest even further, Usagi and the others hurried away to transform, leaving her and the Spectre Sisters behind. When Usagi and the others were out of sight, they changed to their Guardian forms.
"MOON CRYSTAL POWER MAKE UP!"
"MERCURY STAR POWER MAKE UP!"
"MARS STAR POWER MAKE UP!"
"VENUS STAR POWER MAKE UP!"
Transformation Sequence: Usagi
Usagi holds up the Crystal Star brooch as it opens, revealing the Silver Crystal inside. Usagi waved her hand on the Silver Crystal, and it flashed it a bright short burst of pink light emitting a chime. It does it a second time, and on the third, it shines brightly, enveloping Usagi in its glow. Usagi then holds the brooch above her head, suspending it in between her hands, drawing it to the center of her torso, flipping it once before placing it in the center of her chest. She then spins around a few times as the crystal begins to glow even brighter than before in pink light. She holds her hands up as a pair of wings spring forth from her back while pink ribbons come out from the crystal wrapping around Usagi's body, forming her leotard. The wings on her back disappeared as more pink ribbons wrapped around her arms and hands, creating white gloves and red boots around her calves and feet. As the blue skirt appears around her waist, one more pink ribbon ties at her back as she does a kind of spread-eagle motion with one leg up, a glowing moon symbol appearing on her forehead. Her tiara, earrings, choker, and ordango covers appear, and Usagi, now Sailor Moon, finishes with her signature pose.
Transformation Sequence: Ami
Ami holds up her hand as blue sparkles swirled around it, alighting her fingernails turning them into a shade of bright blue. Her transformation stick appears spinning, and she takes hold of it, the star on end and the symbol glowing. It begins to turn as Ami is enveloped in blue light. Then she sweeps the pen over her head as a stream of sparkling blue water begins to emit from it, forming her leotard, boots, and gloves. A sparkling ripple and a flurry of bubbles expand over her body, creating a tiny mist of water that forms the rest of her uniform, the same as Sailor Moon's, but the center bow, boots, and rims on the gloves were blue and bright blue. Finally, she turns around and then strikes her signature pose.
Transformation Sequence: Rei
Rei's hand is held up as red sparkles swirl around it, alighting her fingernails, turning them into a shade of bright red. Her transformation stick appears spinning, and she takes hold of it, the star on end as well as the symbol glowing. It begins to turn as Rei is enveloped in red light. As she held up her pen while spinning around, long bright tongues of flame erupted from it, forming several rings around her body. They tighten around her body, and in a brilliant flash of light, her outfit forms having to look just like Sailor Moon's, but she is wearing red pumps along with a pair of red star-shaped earrings, the center bow is purple, and the rims of her gloves, her skirt, her choker, and collar are red. After that, Mars finishes with her signature pose.
Transformation sequence: Minako.
Minako's hand is held up as golden stars swirl around it, alighting her fingernails, turning them into a shade of bright orange. Her transformation stick appears spinning, and she takes hold of it, the star on end as well as the symbol glowing. It begins to turn as Minako is enveloped in yellow light. Then she sweeps the pen over her head as banners of golden stars emit from it. Minako then holds up the pen above her head as the banners of stars form a spiral around her body. They disappear into the ground, forming a circle of stars and burst into more stars going upwards, enveloping Minako's body. Then Minako emerges wearing the same outfit as Sailor Moon's, the center bow, boots, and rims on the gloves colored orange, her back bow, yellow, and her center bow, blue. She then opens her eyes as she assumes her signature pose.
Harusuke was skating around, trying to avoid Petz's lightning attacks. But as another stream shot towards him, Harusuke jumped, barely managing to dodge, but made a sloppy landing on the ice, falling flat on his face. He looked back up in time to see Petz hovering just above him, her hand aimed for him.
"You're quite the nimble little brat, but this is where your life ends," Petz spoke with malice. "Prepare to die!"
"Hold it right there, Petz!" yelled out a voice. "You're not laying a hand on him!"
Petz then looked to her right, as did Harusuke, and standing on the upper level of the stands, was Sailor Moon and Sailors Mars, Mercury, and Venus.
"How dare you interrupt a momentous day for ice skaters everywhere?!" Sailor Moon scolded. "An ice rink is a place for skaters to have fun, and your kind of fun is not welcome here! I am the Pretty Guardian who fights for love and justice, Sailor Moon!"
The other Guardians followed suit.
"Sailor Mercury!"
"Sailor Mars!"
"Sailor Venus!"
"And in the name of the Moon, we'll punish you!" the four finished together.
"Well, if it isn't the Sailor Guardians here to save the day as usual," Petz huffed. "But not this time. I won't allow you to get in my way this time! Now, my Droids and keep these pests busy!"
At her command, numerous droids materialized from the stands surrounding the guardians. The droids then went on the attack, gunning straight for them, but the Guardians bravely stood their ground, destroying any droid with their special attacks.
Petz then refocused her attention on Harusuke and snapped her fingers. When she did, a barrier enveloped the entire rink taking the form of the bubble trapping the two inside it.
"Now, there's no one left to interfere with us," Petz smirked as she hovered towards Harusuke. "I've been waiting for this for a long time. Now you're all mine!"
Harusuke bravely stood his ground, readying himself to transform, but then a voice cried out.
"JUPITER SPARKLING WIDE PRESSURE!"
A familiar lightning disc shot between Petz and Harusuke, surprising them both; then Sailor Jupiter slid between them, protecting Harusuke from harm.
"Don't you dare hurt him!" Sailor Jupiter snapped. "Why don't you take me on instead, Petz?!"
"Well, well. If it isn't my counterpart, Sailor Jupiter," Petz scowled. "I didn't expect you to get into my barrier, but no matter. I was planning on saving you for last for what you did to my sisters, but this is what you might call killing two birds with one stone."
"Sailor Jupiter!" Harusuke gasped. "What are you doing here?!"
Sailor Jupiter looked back. "What's it look like I'm doing? I'm here to help you! I couldn't just stand there and do nothing!"
Harusuke looked down and saw that Sailor Jupiter was no longer wearing her ankle boot, which worried him.
"But what about your ankle?" Harusuke asked. "You're in no shape to be fighting!"
"I'm aware of that, but I'll be fine," Sailor Jupiter said grimly. "I know that I'm not a hundred percent, but the least I can do is help protect my friend. So I'll keep her distracted and buy you some time to transform."
"But, Mako..." Harusuke began to protest.
"I said, go! Hurry and transform!" Sailor Jupiter interrupted. "Don't worry about me!"
Harusuke was still worried, but he also knew that he couldn't do much of anything in his current state, so he skated away from her for him to transform.
"Where do you think you're going?" Petz spoke as she held up her hand, firing another bolt of lightning. "There's no escape!"
Sailor Jupiter quickly stepped in between the attack and Harusuke and unleashed a blast of lightning of her own. Seizing the opportunity, Harusuke then transformed as well.
"SOLAR PRISM POWER BLAZE FORTH!"
Transformation Sequence: Harusuke.
Harusuke holds up his hand as the stone on his bracelet shines bright in golden light. The stone lets out three pulses, the symbol of the Sun glowing inside of it on the third pulse. Harusuke is enveloped in silver and gold light as he jumps into the air, his clothes disappearing. The symbol of the sun appears just above him and goes down, phasing through his body, making his silver jumpsuit with gold lines on the sides materialize. Two smaller sun symbols go over his feet to his kneecaps, and his gold and metal boots and silver kneecaps appear. Around his waist, a ring of light wraps around it, forming a belt with a gold belt buckle in the shape of an oval. Harusuke then spreads his arms wide as two more light rings envelop his arms and hands, making gold gloves appear. The symbol of the sun appears in front of him now, and crashes into his chest, making his chest piece like before, now thicker and having shoulder guards. Finally, a helmet materializes above Harusuke's head, the design slightly different as he reaches and grabs hit, putting it on his head, not having a mouth protector. Harusuke opens his eyes, punches his hands together, and strikes his signature pose, the symbol of the sun appearing behind him with a star-filled background.
As Sailor Jupiter and Petz's respective lightning attacks continued to collide, Solaris jumped into the fray, firing a Sunlight Meteor at her, forcing her to cease her assault and teleport to the right to dodge.
"What?! That boy was Solaris this whole time?!" Petz exclaimed. "That explains why you're so close to the Guardians and my sisters, but this is perfect. Now I know who you are, so even if you do escape, I'll hunt you down until you're finally dead!"
"That is not going to happen, Petz!" Solaris yelled. "We'll stop you no matter what you have planned, and we'll save you too!"
"Save me? Who said I even needed saving?" Petz scoffed as she gathered her power for another blast. "Oh, wait, you're talking about my sisters. I could care less about them. They're all nothing but traitors, and I intend to punish them for betraying me by killing them all!"
Sailor Jupiter and Solaris were shocked as well as appalled.
"How can you say that about your sisters?!" Sailor Jupiter demanded crossly. "Didn't you learn anything from the other day?"
"Spare me with your guilt trip!" Petz scowled. "I did care about them, but in the end, they turned their backs on me just like Rubeus did! I don't need sisters who are willing to leave me behind!" Her body began to radiate with black lightning. "You're all just like him, waiting to betray and use me like I was your tool made to disposable! Well, it's not going down like that! I'm going to obliterate everyone in here and then kill the Rabbit! Once that's over, Rubeus is next, then you can all spend an eternity in hell!"
Petz let out a scream, and the black lightning erupted from her body, spreading throughout the area inside the barrier. Solaris and Sailor Jupiter jumped, attempting to dodge the incoming attacks by skating, but they seemed to be endless.
Then came trouble. As Sailor Jupiter landed back on the ice, she felt a sharp painful sting shoot up her injured ankle, making her cry out in pain, crumpling to the ground holding her ankle. As she hissed in agony, the lightning was coming straight towards her. Knowing she wouldn't be able to dodge in time, Sailor Jupiter shut her eyes, but Solaris quickly rushed over to her, slinging her arm over his shoulder, and skated out of the way while carrying her to safety.
"Thanks for the save, Solaris," Sailor Jupiter winced. "I owe you one."
"I told you to take it easy, but you just couldn't stay away, could you?" Solaris sighed before smiling. "Don't worry. I got your back."
Petz grew crosser. "Damn it all! Stay still so I can kill you! DARK THUNDER!"
She unleashed a powerful blast of lightning at the two, forcing Solaris to skate out of the way to avoid it, albeit just barely.
"This is bad! At this rate, we're going to get hit!" Solaris thought. He looked across to the other Sailor Guardians, who were still busy fighting the Droids. "And Sailor Moon and the others can't help us either!"
Then suddenly, one of the streams of lightning stuck the two, making Solaris and Sailor Jupiter cry out in agony as it shocked them. Solaris fell to one knee while still holding Sailor Jupiter, his limbs beginning to tremble.
"I'm amazed that you're still able to stand after that," Petz cackled. "But let's see if you can retake it."
She was about to unleash her Dark Thunder again when a voice cried out to her.
"Stop, Big Sister! That's enough!"
Petz looked down, and close to the edge of the barrier, she saw her former Spectre Sisters, which made her scowl.
"Koan. Berthier. Calaveras. And what are you do you three want?" Petz asked.
"Petz, listen to us! What you're doing isn't right!" Koan cried. "So please don't hurt our friends anymore!"
"Your friends? What do you possibly see in these weaklings?" Petz scoffed. "They were once your enemies as well as mine, and yet you call them your friends."
"Come on, Petz! You already know why!" Berthier yelled. "They saved our lives by not only showing us how wonderful the Earth is, but also showing us kindness!"
"They also showed us that when you care about someone, you not only can have the courage to overcome anything, but the strength too!" added Calaveras. "And it's not just them we care about; we care about you too!"
Petz barred her teeth as she glared. "Enough! I'm getting sick and tired of hearing about love! All love has ever done for me is lead me to heartbreak and despair! No one has ever loved me, so who needs it?!"
"That's not true, Petz!" Sailor Jupiter yelled out. "You do have people that love and care about you! You've got your sisters, don't you? They love and care about you more than anyone else! Listen to them!"
"SILENCE!" Petz yelled as she unleashed a powerful blast of her Dark Thunder.
Sailor Jupiter braced herself, but at the last minute, Solaris shot up and stepped in between her and the Dark Thunder and took the full brunt of the attack eliciting a scream as his body was shocked. He then collapsed into Sailor Jupiter, who managed to catch him in her arms.
"Solaris! Are you all right?!" Sailor Jupiter cried.
"N-Not really," Solaris winced. "That attack of hers did hurt. But, it would appear that she somehow managed to retain some power despite not having the wand anymore." He then stood back up. "But don't worry, I'm fine."
"I'm so sorry you took the hit to protect me," apologized Sailor Jupiter. "I should have listened and stayed behind with the others."
"If you did, then I would have been a goner. So it's fine," Solaris said, looking back. "Besides, it's my turn to protect you. Let me deal with Petz."
"But I want to help," protested Sailor Jupiter. "Let me-ah!"
Sailor Jupiter tried to stand, but her ankle was hurting still, causing her to fall to her knees, holding her ankle in pain.
"Stand down, Jupiter. You need to rest that ankle," Solaris said firmly. "Besides, Petz isn't a person to be reasoned with, and as long as I'm standing here, I won't let her touch you."
"That goody-goody chivalrous attitude of yours is starting to piss me off!" Petz snarled as she unleashed a powerful stream of thunder at Solaris, forcing him to shield Sailor Jupiter from harm as he took the attack. "Love is nothing but rubbish and makes you weak, and I'll prove it by killing you right here and now, Solaris!"
The other Guardians could see that their two friends were in trouble and tried to get over to help them, but Droids continued to pop up one after the other preventing them. Solaris grunted in pain as the lightning shocked his body while shielding Sailor Jupiter, refusing to move.
"I will protect her!" Solaris thought with determination. "I won't let you get hurt, Jupiter!"
"Solaris is doing everything he can to protect me, even though it's my fault," Sailor Jupiter thought. "But I can't just sit here! There has to be something I can do! I have to protect my friend!"
Then suddenly, it happened. Sailor Jupiter's body exploded in a bright green light, making her radiate with its glow, and Solaris' prism also began to glow. The glow was enough to catch Petz by surprise, forcing her to shield her eyes and catching everyone else's attention in the arena.
"I'm... I'm glowing!" Sailor Jupiter gasped. "What's going on?"
The glow that surrounded Jupiter then left her going straight to Solaris, and just like with Sailor Mars, the prism absorbed the green light until it was gone. It also changed into a bright green color with pink tinges and now had a glowing symbol of Sailor Jupiter.
"It's just like what happened with Sailor Mars!" Solaris thought with amazement. "Only this time, it's Jupiter! Which means..."
Not wasting a moment more, Solaris held up his fist into the air and then said these words.
"SOLARIS JUPITER POWER RANK UP!"
Transformation Solaris: Jupiter Mode
The gem in Solaris' bracelet glows brightly in a bright green light, the symbol of Jupiter shining inside the prism. Next, Solaris is enveloped in a green light, as long tongues of lightning shoot out from his bracelet and encircle his body as he spins around, similar to Makoto. First, the lightning wraps his body, turning into rings while spinning rapidly. Next, his boots emerge from the lightning, green while retaining the silver. Then his belt is revealed, also being green, along with his right and left gloves and chest, while keeping the silver. At the center of Solaris' chest, it changed to silver, and the dot had changed to the symbol of Jupiter. Finally, the head of Solaris emerges from the lightning, the helmet slightly different in design. A silver visor covers his eyes as he strikes his signature pose, while the background shows his symbol and Sailor Jupiter overlapping each other in a blue and gold background.
"What trickery is this?!" Petz exclaimed with surprise.
"It happened again!" cried Sailor Moon, as she, along with the other guardians, all stared at Solaris in amazement.
"Solaris, transformed like before!" gasped Sailor Jupiter. "Only, he's got my symbol now and is wearing my color!"
"Petz! I'm giving you one last chance to stop this!" Solaris ordered. "If you refuse, then I'll have to make you!"
"You damned fool! Don't get so cocky just because your armor changed color!" Petz snapped. "Take this! DARK THUNDER!"
Petz then unleashed another powerful stream of electricity at Solaris. This time Solaris didn't move and, as lightning struck him, was completely unaffected by the attack, much to hers and Sailor Jupiter's surprise. Solaris' body then began to spark and radiate with green electricity.
"Fine then. Guess we're going this the hard way," Solaris said, as he crossed his arms together, pinkies and index fingers pointed. "SUPREME THUNDER!"
He threw out his arms, mimicking Sailor Jupiter's attack, and unleashed a powerful stream of lightning. Petz, barely having time, teleported out of the way as the attack struck the barrier. It bent and warbled, but it didn't break.
Solaris then took off, skating across the ice carrying Sailor Jupiter until he made it to the rink's edge, setting her down. Then he started again, this time clapping his hands together, making them spark, creating a disc of lightning.
"SPARKLING WIDE PRESSURE!"
Solaris threw the disc aiming right for Petz while Petz countered with her Dark Thunder. The two attacks crackled and sparked as they collided, eventually exploding on impact.
"Impossible! How could Solaris use lightning enough to overpower my dark thunder?!" Petz spoke, clenching her fists. "He's only a mere human! A mere man! And I refuse to lose to a lowly bastard like him! I'll kill him! I'll kill him along with everyone else in this building! I'LL KILL THEM ALL!"
Petz let out a scream as her body began to radiate with electricity while holding her hands up. A ball of black power formed between her hands, growing bigger by the second. At the same time, Sailor Moon and the others saw what was going on and were worried.
"Look at that! Petz is generating a large amount of power!" Sailor Mars cried. "If she unleashes it..."
"Stop, Big Sister! Don't do it!" Calaveras yelled. "You'll kill them!"
But Petz didn't care as she continued to generate power. Knowing what Petz was up to, Solaris took a stance as he prepared to skate, but then Sailor Jupiter touched his shoulder, causing him to look back at her.
"Solaris, power isn't going to be enough to stop her," Sailor Jupiter said. "You know that, right?"
"I do," replied Solaris. "Which is why I'm going to pierce right through it, and there's only one thing I can do pull it off."
Sailor Jupiter nodded. "In that case, go for it," Sailor Jupiter said. "Remember everything I taught you. You can do this."
Solaris started skating around the rink, building momentum for what he was about to do. Then as he began to race towards Petz, he thought back to when Makoto was teaching him how to skate. Those thoughts alone gave him confidence, as he lifted one leg coiling it, then with one massive effort, launched himself into the air, rapidly spinning going above Petz. As he did, his body was shrouded in lightning, turning himself into a small tornado as he came down with a downwards kick. Petz seeing him coming, unleashed her most powerful blast of lightning, intending to finish this in a single blow. But Solaris pierced straight through as the lightning transformed into the head of a dragon that roared.
"SOLARIS JUPITER RYUJIN HUNTER!"
Before Petz could defend herself, Solaris shot right into her, nailing her in the gut with his foot, and an explosion of lightning erupted from the collision. Solaris emerged from the explosion, landing back onto the ice on his right foot, skidding to a stop, and Petz dropped to the ice, flat on her back, sparking and trembling. At that moment, the barrier faded away, as did the rest of Petz's droids. Sailor Jupiter could only stare in amazement, as did the other guardians.
After a while, the guardians carried Petz off of the ice and onto the stands. Petz slowly came around and was welcomed to the faces of her sisters and the guardians. She then realized what had happened to her.
"It would seem that I've lost," Petz murmured bitterly. "But what I don't understand is, why am I still alive? Do you all pity me that much?"
"Pity has nothing to do with this, Sister," Koan said. "We care about you, and we don't want you to keep this up anymore. We want you back with us."
"But, why do you care?" Petz asked. "After everything I did, you should have forsaken me. I would even understand you all decided to hate me."
"We don't hate you, Petz," Sailor Moon said. "And sure, you did some evil things, but everyone deserves a second chance."
"She's right," said Sailor Jupiter. "We've given your other sisters a second chance, so why shouldn't we give you one?"
Petz looked up, surprised for a brief moment, but then she bit her lip, trying her best not to cry. "But... how can you all be so kind after what I did?" she murmured. "You know I've tried to kill you all, and I'm also guilty for arguing and treating you the way I did. So why..."
Koan affectionately smiled as she hugged Petz. "We sisters may have fought a lot in the past, but we were always together."
Berthier joined in. "That's right. We wouldn't be the Four Spectre Sisters if there were only three of us."
"Besides, as Sailor Moon said, being concerned about someone's well-being is the right thing to do; that's what kindness is," asked Calaveras with a wink. "It's better than being on your own in the world. Someone has to have your back."
Petz's eyes filled with tears as she embraced all of her sisters, sobbing quietly. Solaris then looked at Sailor Moon.
"Sailor Moon, would you like to do the honors?" Solaris asked.
"I'd be happy to," smiled Sailor Moon as she held up her brooch, opening it and revealing the Silver Crystal inside. "MOON CRYSTAL POWER!"
And with a wave over the crystal and a burst of pink light, Sailor Moon transformed Petz into a human being. When she emerged reborn, Koan, Berthier, and Calaveras couldn't help but feel overjoyed, now that the Spectre Sisters were back together again. Then, as the Sisters celebrated, Sailor Jupiter suddenly remembered.
"Solaris, I just realized something!" Sailor Jupiter cried. "Do you realize what you just did?!"
"What do you mean, Sailor Jupiter?" asked Solaris.
Sailor Jupiter shook Solaris like a doll, excitement written on her face. "Don't you get it?! You did it! You did an axel jump!"
Solaris then realized, and a wide grin spread on his cheeks. "Oh my gosh, I did! I did perform an axel jump, didn't I?!"
"You sure did, Bro," Sailor Moon smiled with a wink. "And it had to be one of the coolest jumps I've ever seen."
"Me too," agreed Sailor Mars. "As good as any pro skater."
Solaris then embraced Sailor Jupiter in a big hug grinning from ear to ear feeling very proud.
A couple of days later, Usagi's group was now in Downtown Juuban window browsing. Usagi was sharing some good news about four girls as they did.
"Oh? So the Spectre Sisters started their own business?" asked Makoto.
"Yes, they sell products that are supposed to make everyone beautiful," explained Usagi. "I'm told that they set up shop somewhere around here."
Harusuke then pointed at a particular stand not too far away from them. "Hey, look! There they are!"
Sure enough, the others saw the stand with the Spectre Sisters, each busily at work. Everyone except for Berthier, who was happily applying makeup to her face, making herself beautiful.
Petz was quick to notice and was a bit annoyed. "Berthier, if you don't stop using up merchandise, we'll never sell anything!' she scolded.
"It's maintenance," Berthier scoffed snootily. "I have to use everything, so my complexion is flawless, or our customers won't believe it. Don't be such an old lady."
Petz then grabbed Berthier by the scruff of her collar and started shaking her. "Well, believe this! I'll teach you to call me an old lady!" she snapped.
Now Calaveras was cross. "Hey! Petz! Knock it off! We're in front of our customers here!"
"Ugh, this is why I prefer door-to-door sales!" Koan complained. "Will you three shut up already?!"
As the sisters continued to argue, Usagi and her friends couldn't help but smile.
"As they say, the more you quarrel, the closer you are," chuckled Makoto.
"They're kind of like us in a way," agreed Ami.
"Only they don't have to deal with a certain someone like we do," Rei smirked.
Usagi then glared at Rei. "Oh? And who would that someone be, Rei?" she spoke coldly.
"Gee. I haven't got a clue," Rei shrugged coolly. "Maybe it's starting to ring a bell with someone?"
"Why do you always have to be so mean, Rei?!" Usagi snapped.
"I'm not! I'm just being honest! It's not my fault you're so sensitive!" Rei snapped back.
"Come on, you two. Cut it out," Harusuke groaned. "It's too early in the morning for this."
But Usagi and Rei didn't listen as they continued to argue, much to everyone's disdain. Harusuke then looked across to Mako.
"By the way, how's your foot holding up?" Harusuke asked.
"It's doing fine," replied Makoto. "It still feels tender, but don't worry. I'll have this thing off in no time."
"Well, when you do, you want to keep practicing with me?" Harusuke asked. "I could use your coaching to help perfect my axel jump."
Sailor Jupiter smiled. "Sure. I'd like that. I could always use someone to get back into skating when I'm better."
Harusuke then looked back at the Spectre Sisters and their other friends. "I just still can't believe I pulled it off. I guess your good luck charm helped me out after all."
"Good luck charm? What do you mean, good luck charm?" asked a voice.
Harusuke and Makoto then jumped and saw themselves being stared at by Usagi and the rest of the group, Ami and Minako, staring at Harusuke curiously.
"N-Nothing important," Harusuke said hastily. "Just idle talk. Right, Mako?"
"Y-Yeah, idle talk," agreed Mako.
"It doesn't look that way to me," Minako spoke. "Are you two hiding something?"
"Of course not! We're not hiding anything!" Harusuke and Makoto spoke.
The two then realized they were talking simultaneously and looked at each other. Then the two both looked away, feeling a slight bit embarrassed.
