"We were idiots not exchanging numbers" Kurt laughs, now he can laugh about it. He texted Blaine before his next class starts so Blaine has his number too and said he could call after work. No reason, just because. So of course Blaine called Kurt after work as soon as he got home. He stands in the kitchen to make himself dinner and smiles like a drunk idiot. "But hey the move with the notes to pass you my number was smart. You have to admit that" he says and Kurt answers "I give you that. I had no idea. No plan. I just would've waited until after class tomorrow".
"Talking about after class. How about we go through your song again and work on it a bit before we get ice cream? The weather should be just as nice and spring warm as today" the other man proposes and Kurt agrees "Yeah I'd like that".
From the background Blaine hears Santana yell "Move your ass to the kitchen Lady Hummel. Dinner is ready". "Does she always talk like that?" Blaine asks his boyfriend. Kurt laughs, he sits at his desk in his room so he got some privacy to talk "She does but if you get to know her better she's a really good friend. Just in her very special way". "Well then go before she comes in. I see you tomorrow" Blaine says and Kurt answers "See you at school" before he hangs up.
"What did loverboy say?" Santana asks with a smirk. Kurt shrugs and answers "That you should be nicer to me". "You wish" the latina answers with a laugh and a pat on Kurts shoulder. Since Kurt didn't expect any other reaction he just laughs and starts eating, talking with his friends about everything and nothing.
After the private lesson on Wednesday Kurt and Blaine pack their stuff together. They did some warm ups and went through the song two times. After that they decided to go out and get the ice cream they deserve. So now they are on their way outside, walking through the hallways with a bit distance between them. As soon as they are away far enough Blaines hand tries to find Kurts.
He finds it but when he touches it he sees, and feels, Kurt flinch. Only slighly but he does. Then he takes Blaines hand and a little smile spreads on both of their lips. The older man remembers two days ago when they said goodbye. First he got a kiss on the cheek like Kurt didn't dare to do more and next he quickly looked around before leaning in again. Is it something about Blaine? Or did something happen to Kurt in the past?
The ice cream almost makes Blaine forget what happened. It's delicious. Kurt didn't forget. He feels stupid for reacting when it really was just Blaine wanting to take his hand. Blaine, his boyfriend. The ice cream makes it a little better tho. That and Blaines beautiful smile. He's talking about his passion, music, and Kurt not only shares the love for music but finds it incredible how something can make someone smile like that.
They sit on a bench, eating and talking when suddenly they hear a loud noise. Someone dropped a metal plate next to them. They both flinched at the loud sound but for one moment Blaine sees something different in Kurts eyes. No. The flinch, the cheek kiss and the looking around are not about him. But what happend?
Blaine decides not to pressure Kurt into telling him. They are boyfriends for only two days. Now he knows that something must've happened and he will be more careful until Kurt tells him. He will make him feel comfortable and safe, giving him no reason to flinch or be afraid. And when Kurt is ready he will tell him.
When it's time to say goodbye Blaine walks with Kurt a little until it's not too crowded anymore. "Text me when you get home" he says, taking Kurts hand slowly. The younger man nods "You too". He smiles a little before leaning in to kiss before letting go of Kurts hand so both can get home.
The next day Blaine invites Kurt to his apartment to eat dinner together and watch a movie. He knows that Kurt has to work on the weekend in the evening and Blaines own noons are packed with meetings, shopping and studio sessions so they don't have time to meet. Instead he wanted to do something with Kurt today.
He cooked for the two of them and sets the table. The dinner is ready just in time when Kurt arrives. Music plays quietly in the back and while eating dinner the two talk about anything and everything. Kurt compliments on Blaines apartment. Not too big, not too small, casual and cozy, yet elegant and modern. He seems really open and comfortable. At the door he greeted Blaine with a kiss and gladly took his boyfriends hand for the short way to the table.
Together they clean the table before they take their coffee and sit down on the couch. Blaine already put some snacks on the table so they only need to sit down and pick a movie. They already sit down close to each other, their knees touching and when they lean back Blaines arm wraps around Kurts shoulder. When Kurts mug is empty he puts it down on the table and leans back in Blaines waiting arm with his head now comfortably resting on Blaines shoulder.
The curly haired man smiles. He likes how this evening is going. Kurt is himself. He seems comfortable. Not shy and careful. Maybe he just needs to invite him over more often. He likes to do stuff with Kurt outside, fresh air, but Kurt seems tense sometimes. Different than here. Different than when he is in school with his friends.
Sadly after the movie it's time for Kurt to go home. He quickly helps the other man putting the snacks back in the kitchen before putting on his shoes and jacket. Blaine brings his boyfriend to the door and kisses him goodnight. Kurt hugs him shortly but tightly "We should do this again". "Yeah we should. Text me when you get home" Blaine answers. The other man nods "I will". He kisses his boyfriend again but then he has to leave so he catches his subway.
Blaine closes the door again and turns up the music. It was a good evening and he's in a good mood and while he cleans the kitchen he sings along to the music happily. A bit more than half an hour he gets a message from Kurt that he's home and had a really great evening. Kurt always needs a while to get to the loft. It's cheep but not that central and the neighourhood is not the best. But it's okay.
At home Kurt tells the girls a bit about his evening but then he gets ready for the bed. He's tired and tomorrow will be a long day for all three of them. Once he's in bed he sets an alarm for tomorrow and reads Blaines messages.
Blaine: Yeah this evening was awesome. Maybe we cook together sometime?
Kurt: That would be cool! I'm heading to bed now. Tomorrow's a long day so I need to get some decent sleep now.
Blaine: If you ever fall asleep during my class when you had to work on Sunday and are tired on Monday I won't wake you unless it's really important.
Kurt: I might come back to that offer.
Blaine: Or text me before that you're tired and we can work with that.
Kurt: Will do. Now time for bed. Goodnight.
Blaine: Goodnight. Sleep well. See you in class.
Kurt: Sleep well too later and don't stay up too long. I see you tomorrow.
With a smile on his lips Kurt puts his phone away and turns off the light. He doesn't want to go to work tomorrow and rather spend more time with Blaine or in bed, practicing or calling his dad. He should ask his dad if he wants to come to New York again. With that thought Kurt falls asleep.
