Chapter 3: Supply Shopping and The Ghost
After Wanda came out with squeaky clean and dressed Sora in her arms, he just laughed.
Sora: I feel squeaky clean, Ms. Wanda.
Wanda: I bet you do.
Wanda pulled Sora in for a hug. She found Peter outside, practicing with Wayward Wind. He stopped when he saw he had company.
Peter: Oh, hey guys.
Wanda: (Chuckling) Why are you fighting backhanded style?
Peter: Oh, I just liked the way. Plus, it feels right with this design.
Wanda chuckled a bit. Peter suggested they go ahead and pick up their supplies. They found a store nearby and headed inside. There they found all sorts of stuff from food, furniture, electronics, weapons, toys, etc.
Clerk: (Monotone while reading a magazine) Welcome to Traverse Supplies. When you're ready to buy, let me know.
Peter put his mask on while Wanda lowered her visor.
Spider-Man: Yeah, we're here to buy some stuff. Merlin gave us an account.
The clerk perked up and revealed a blond, teenage boy.
Clerk: Uh, right. Help yourself with whatever you need. The wizard have some extremely deep pockets.
The trio got to browsing as a made in armor with coloring of a well-known villain carrying dual DC-17 pistols came in. This was Clone Commander Doom. Spider-Man was browsing chemicals mixtures.
Spider-Man: (Picking up some vials) These are perfect for making more web fluid when I run out.
Scarlet Witch was browsing some spare clothes, much to Sora's boredom. She found a nice red shirt and black cargo pants.
Scarlet Witch: You think this is a nice look, Sora. (Seeing her charge was bored) Aw, I'm sorry Sora. How about we pick out some toys to play with on our journey, ok sweetie?
Sora perked up and pulled Scarlet Witch over to the toy section. They came over to a section of plush toys looking like the poster boy for Nintendo: Mario and Friends. Sora started grabbing one of each until Scarlet Witch levitated them all out of his hands.
Scarlet Witch: (Kneeling) Sora, listen. I know you're excited but we don't know how much money we have and we have to get food and other supplies. (Seeing Sora's upset face) Sora, I'm not mad, I promise. I just think we should go easy so we can get essentials, okay?
Sora: (Picking a Baby Luigi plush toy) Okay, Ms. W… Scarlet.
Scarlet Witch quietly chuckled at Sora's close call.
Scarlet Witch: (Smiling) How about we get you some special clothes? To make you your own super suit.
Sora was extremely excited about the idea. Pretty soon, they were grabbing clothes, food, a first aid kit, some backpacks, and necessary equipment.
Clerk: (Scanning the items) Find everything you need?
Scarlet Witch: Yes, thanks for asking.
Out of nowhere, a Kashyyyk Long-Gun was placed among their items.
Doom: Put it on their bill. (The trio looking at him as he saluted) Sir, ma'am. Commander Doom, reporting for duty.
Scarlet Witch was about to flare her powers up but Spider-Man stopped her.
Spider-Man: (As the clerk left to get something) A real Clone Trooper.
Doom: That's right, sir. Merlin assigned me to your mission. (Seeing Wanda's uneasiness) Is she okay?
Spider-Man: Sorry, your armor colors reminds us of a well-known villain.
Doom: Apologies, ma'am. Where'd the clerk go?
The clerk came back with a bag and a note.
Clerk: These are for you.
Spider-Man: (Reading the note) Dear… (Seeing he used their civilian names) Spider-Man and Scarlet Witch, please accept these gifts as part of your suits. There's also something I forgot to mention. Under no circumstance are you to meddle in the fairs of other worlds. That means no messing with the events that happen outside of helping the heroes. And no telling anyone about being from other worlds. The order must be maintained. Good luck. Signed, Merlin. P.S, don't worry about the bill. I have a very large sum of money.
The clerk signed charged everything to Merlin and the payment went through. Opening the bag, they found a new mask, visor, a small blue bag, and a few other stuff. Sora was given the bag while Spider-Man and Scarlet Witch took the new mask and visor. Finding a place to change, they put them on. That's when they got a surprise.
?: (Female voice from Spider-Man's mask) Hello, Peter.
Peter: (Surprised) Uh, hi?
?: I am your mask's Artificial Intelligent assistant. I can give tactical advice, usage of the additional features, help you translate foreign or alien languages, and remotely hack into any computer system.
Spider-Man: Awesome. Nice to meet you… Let's call you Karen.
?: Karen. Karen, I like that.
Spider-Man bumped into Scarlet Witch, sporting her new visor.
Scarlet Witch: Like my new visor, it has variety of tactical visual features and maps.
Spider-Man: My new mask has loads of stuff including an AI.
Spider-Man and Scarlet Witch came back to find Doom teaching Sora shooting techniques with his slingshot. Gathering up their purchases, they left the store and walked outside and were met by an anthromorphic duck dressed like a professor.
?: (In a German accent) Why, hello there. Merlin said you all would be here. I'm…
Spider-Man: Professor Ludwig Von Drake!
Professor Von Drake: Glad to see my genius is well-known.
Scarlet Witch: Is he a genius?
Spider-Man: Extremely. His inventions are amazing in his cartoons… And cause Donald a great deal of pain.
Professor Von Drake: (Chuckling) Yes, my inventions tend to leave my nephew in a tremendous amount of frustration and life insurance claims. Follow me. I just finished modifying your new ship.
Professor Von Drake clapped his hands and some droids took their purchases. Leading them to a hanger bay, Professor Von Drake showed a large iconic VCX-100 light freighter with its VCX-series auxiliary starfighter. Spider-Man knew these as the Ghost and Phantom respectively.
Sora: Wow, big!
Scarlet Witch: (Picking Sora up as the droids loaded the items on board) Professor, are you sure this vehicle is safe?
Spider-Man: Containing my Star Wars geek fandom, I know this ship model. This was used by a Rebel cell as a smuggling freighter, attack shuttle, and mobile home. It's as safe as it can be.
Doom: I don't know what he just said but he's right. These freighters are very reliable.
Professor Von Drake: He's right. Follow me aboard and I'll show you around.
Escorted aboard, the group around the ship. It was a lot like it was in the show, but there were some differences.
Professor Von Drake: (Showing them around) In here is the lounge and that door leads to the kitchen. I had it upgraded to include a television and Nintendo Switch gaming system. (Stopping Scarlet Witch before she spoke) All E-Rated games.
Scarlet Witch: Thank you.
Professor Von Drake: (Leading them further) Over here are the dormitories. And in front is the cockpit.
Sora: We really gonna fly in this thing, Mr. Scarlet?
Scarlet Witch: (Picking up Sora) As long as you behave and stay away from anyplace you aren't supposed to be.
Sora nodded as a small, round, yellow & gray Astromech rolled up from the cockpit.
Professor Von Drake: And here's your dedicated Astromech, CH-33P.
Sora: (Waving) Hi, Cheep.
CH-33P extended an arm out and said hello.
Spider-Man: (With Karen translating) He said 'Hi'.
Professor Von Drake: Well, that's everything here. I best be on my way.
Everyone said goodbye as Professor Von Drake left. Doom walked up to the cockpit and sat in the Pilot's seat. Initiating the launch sequence, everyone took a seat as they took off.
Wanda: (Raising her visor) You okay, Sora?
Sora: (Sitting in his seat, safely strapped in) Yes, Ms. Wanda.
The ship flew higher and higher until the world Traverse Town was out of sight.
