Chapter 3

Vi always knew she was different growing up. When her mother would put her in dresses and bows, she would immediately pull the bows out of her hair the second she was able. She would play in the mud dirtying her dress within minutes. Although it frustrated her mother, her mother never got upset or angry. When Vi got older she noticed girls her age becoming more interested in boys. Something that wasn't even close to being on her radar. Instead she enjoyed challenging the boys. When Vi was 10, and her sister was 5 they lost their parents in an accident. They were both put into foster care where they bounced back and forth for almost two years until Vander, an old friend of their parents was finally able to take them in, and over time adopt them. Vi always found it difficult trying to figure out puberty without her mother, or a proper female to help her navigate what was going on. Vander did his best, but he was still just a man who didn't have much experience in that area. Vi learned very young to keep private things to herself. As she started to get older, she began questioning things about herself that she wasn't ready to learn or explore. The problem was her friends began to question why she wasn't interested in boys like they were. She had a good friend, Viktor. He often would flirt with her, so she decided to ask him out, to take the eyes off herself and stop the questions. Viktor was always kind and respectful, but as time went on, he began pushing for more. Vi didn't hate kissing him, but she never got much out of it. One day Viktor's friends helped him set up a private date in his friends' barn. When Vi arrived she was a bit taken back by the idea of doing anything more than kissing, but didn't want anyone becoming suspicious of her behavior so she decided to go along with it. They began making out, Vi doing her best to act interested. When Viktor finally got brave enough to put his hand on her breasts, she immediately pulled back. After reconsidering she decided to go along with it. But as things began to escalate, she become more uncomfortable and withdrawn. Somehow how she still ended up topless, as she continued to make out. As soon as Viktor began to unbutton her pants, she stopped him. "I can't do this" she said as she grabbed her shirt to leave.

"Wait" Viktor called out after her.

"I'm sorry Viktor I can't, I don't want to do this. None of it."

"What do you mean?" Viktor asked desperately.

"I mean it's over, we're over." Vi said as she ran out of the barn.

Unfortunately, Viktor was so embarrassed about what happened, that in a moment of weakness he told his friends that he had sex with Vi, and then broke up with her because he didn't want someone so easy. The news spread quickly around school. At first Vi was furious, ready to go after Viktor and make him tell the truth. But she quickly realized he had done her a favor. Guys no longer wanted to date her, giving her an excuse to not have to date any of them. Girls wanted nothing to do with her, so she no longer had to act a certain way around them. She was an outcast, but it was now on her terms.

When Vi turned 16 she dropped it of school to help Vander, which meant she no longer had to see most of those people. Something she was glad of.

Vi always had a plan. She would work hard, take care of her family, and when they were all out of the house, she would move to a secluded part of town to live on her own. She wouldn't waist time with what others thought of her, or who she found attractive.

So why was she standing at a counter ordering a bright pink cupcake for a young woman she didn't dare admit to herself was the most attractive person she had ever met. "She's just my friend," Vi whispered to herself as she walked out of the bakery with a small pink box.

6:45, Caitlyn sat waiting on the porch holding a small tin can, ready to repay the kindness of the cupcake.

6:48, Vi began walking up to the porch holding two bottles of milk.

"You're early." Caitlyn said with a smile.

"I guess that means I have a couple extra minutes to talk with my favorite person."

Caitlyn blushed as she looked down at her tin. "I made these for you" she said nervously.

"You made me something?"

"Cookies" Caitlyn said as she handed Vi the tin.

Vi took the tin, opening it to see a dozen chocolate chip cookies. "Caitlyn, these look amazing, but you didn't have to."

"I wanted to."

Vi took one out, taking a large bite. "These are delicious." Vi said as she finished off the cookie in two more bites.

"Thanks, I've always enjoyed baking."

"Really, I've never been good at it. Tried making a cake once for my sister's birthday. Almost burned down the house."

Caitlyn laughed at the ridiculous thought of Vi burning down a house, because she couldn't bake a cake.

"I'm serious, the whole kitchen filled with smoke. My family was about to evacuate when I pulled the burnt log looking thing from the oven and tossed it in the sink."

"That's terrible" Caitlyn said through light laughter.

"Seriously Caitlyn, thank you for these. You have made my day."

Caitlyn smiled, glad she could do for Vi, what Vi had done for her without knowing it. "Glad to help."

"Well I better get on my way, but I'll bring back the tin tomorrow."

"No rush," Caitlyn said as she stood to go back in her house.

Vi walked back to her truck, turned, waved and winked, watching Caitlyn smile. "She's going to destroy me." Vi said to herself as she looked at Caitlyn's smile one last time before getting into her truck.

Caitlyn couldn't stop smiling all day, not only did she get to see Vi, but she was getting to go to her first social this evening. Even if she did have to be accompanied by Jayce, a young man she didn't know very well. She spent most of the day doing her chores, practicing her instruments and staying on her mother's good side. She didn't want anything to ruin her chances of going out.

6:00pm, there was a knock on the door. Caitlyn ran giddy, throwing it open to see Jayce standing, looking very handsome. "Ready?" Jayce asked holding his arm out for Caitlyn to take.

"I'll be home later mother."

"Don't be too late." Her mother said as the door shut before she could say anything further.

Caitlyn followed Jayce out to his 1955 red Ford thunderbird. "Wow" Caitlyn said as Jayce opened the door for her.

"You like it?"

"It's amazing."

Jayce shut her door, before running to his side to get in. "Yeah, it's not too bad" he said arrogantly.

Caitlyn smiled awkwardly, before smoothing out her dress.

"You hungry, or do you want to head right over to the social?"

"I already ate, but thank you."

"Then let's go have a good time."

Jayce and Caitlyn entered the barn, as the music played loudly in the background. "You like Rock and roll?" Jayce asked over the loud playing jukebox.

"I mostly listen to classical music". Caitlyn said as she watched in awe as all the teenagers danced and socialized.

"Let's get some drinks" Jayce said, pulling Caitlyn over to a table lined with soda and punch. Jayce gave the kid behind the table a couple of coins before handing Caitlyn a coke.

"Thanks."

"Hey, do you mind if I go do a quick walk around? An old friend is supposed to be here."

"No, go ahead." Caitlyn said as she awkwardly moved to the wall to watch the other teenagers dancing. She got lost in excitement of teenagers being teenagers, wishing she could let loose like that more often, when a small woman accidently bumped into her. "Sorry" the young woman said before shoving a tall teenage boy next to her. "Mylo you asshole, don't push me".

Caitlyn just smiled as she backed away until she heard a familiar voice.

"Ill take you two idiots' home if you're not going to behave."

Caitlyn looked around the two teenagers, spotting the young familiar woman with reddish pink hair and eyes that she could get lost in. "Vi!"

"Caitlyn Kiramman, holy shit, what are you doing here?"

"I was finally able to talk my mother into letting me attend a social event. What are you doing here?"

"Babysitting," Vi said as she pushed Jinx, and Mylo away from their conversation.

"Your siblings?"

"That's my baby sister Jinx, and Mylo is my adopted brother. I have another one around here somewhere. Claggor, he has better manors than those two."

Caitlyn chuckled lightly as she settled against the wall. The thought of seeing Vi out of uniform and in a social setting wasn't something she ever thought possible.

"So, you here alone?"

"I actually came with a friend, not sure where he took off to though."

"Doesn't sound like a good friend." Vi says as she stands closer to Caitlyn as the music gets louder.

Caitlyn's breath hitches as Vi moves closer. She is close enough Caitlyn can smell the sweet smell of her perfume, mixed with a scent that is all Vi. Caitlyn takes a deep breath, breathing it in, as she listens to Vi yell at her siblings for pushing each other again.

"I swear, they are such assholes," Vi says as she looks Caitlyn up and down. "I like your dress."

"Thank you. I like your jacket." Caitlyn says as she instinctively reaches out to run her hands along the leather, just as Vi is pushed into her. Thrusting their bodies together. Caitlyn's breath hitches as she feels Vis breasts pressed up against her own. Vi's hands instantly moving to Caitlyn's waist to stop her from falling over. For Caitlyn, it's like time stood still in that moment. She could feel Vi's breath against her neck. Her heart began to beat faster in her chest. She didn't dare take a breath, until in an instant it was all ripped away.

Vi pulled back quickly before turning back to see Mylo and Jinx standing there with fear in their eyes as Vi stared them down. "I'll be right back". Vi said as she stormed towards her two siblings that took off in a run.

Caitlyn let out the deep breath she was holding in as Vi went after her siblings. She couldn't help but laugh, as she watched them run away. But the feeling of Vi still pressing against her was still very present. Caitlyn looked around nervously. Wondering if anyone saw how flushed and anxious she looked. 'What was that?' Caitlyn thought to herself, as she fanned her face with her hand, before taking a large gulp of the coke she was holding. She tried to push the thoughts that flooded her brain out, instead focusing on the teenagers dancing in front of her. After a few minutes, she walked over and threw her empty coke bottle away when Jayce finally returned with a couple of other older looking males.

"Caitlyn, these are some of my friends." Jayce said as he pointed to the two guys standing next to him.

Just then Vi returned. "Sorry about that." She said as she looked at Jayce and the others. "Fucking Jayce Tallis, and Viktor Herald."

"Vi!" Jayce said as he looked from Caitlyn to Vi. "You two know each other?"

Caitlyn looked and Jayce and Vi, extremely confused, as the tension in the air began to thicken.
