Episode 51: The Mashup Problem
Charlie Brown is watching Star Trek in the barracks when Sally enters and approaches him.
Sally: Big brother, look what I made!
Charlie Brown: What did you make?
Sally: I made a mashup with two songs.
Charlie Brown: What two songs?
Sally: Remember this?
She plays the Pokémon Dance Mix from Vicky Sue Robinson at the 0:25 mark.
Charlie Brown: Yeah.
After the 0:38 mark, she turns it off and plays Super Sonic Racing from Sonic R at the 0:36 mark.
Sally: You recognize these songs, right?
Charlie Brown: Yeah. I remember those songs.
Sally: I mashed both of them up. Want to hear it?
Charlie Brown: Sure.
(Play the Super Sonic Racing and Pokémon Dance Mix mashup on YouTube for the rest of this section.)
She plays the song on her phone and smiles.
Sally: Best mashup ever.
Charlie Brown: I think someone alrea-
Sally: Sorry. Can't hear you. I gotta get to the podcast and have them play this mashup I played.
She runs out of the barracks.
Charlie Brown: Oh good grief.
The next day, the mashup was playing through the Space Tree and everybody loved it.
Sally: Wow. I can't believe everybody loves it! It's the best! It's like Pokémon and Sonic came together!
The wisps jump for joy and then Bessie approaches her.
Bessie: Congrats on the mashup!
Sally: Thanks Bessie.
Bessie: You're welcome.
She leaves her and then Charlie Brown approaches her.
Sally: Hey Big Brother. Came here to congratulate me on my success?
Charlie Brown: Yes, but there's some advice I must give you. It's okay to be proud of something, but if you are too proud of it, there's a chance it will blow up in your face.
Sally: Okay. Sure. I'm gonna play this song all week!
Charlie Brown: I wouldn't do that...
Sally: Come on, Big Brother. What's the worst that could happen?
(Play the Pokémon Dance Mix and Super Sonic Racing mashup on YouTube again for this section.)
Sally spends the rest of the day listening to the mashup. The next day, people smiled a little when they heard the mashup, but Sally enjoys it. She then spends the rest of the week listening to it and now it's stuck in her head, and it comes up to the point she is singing it, and it started to get on everybody's nerves. She then continues dancing along to the music.
3 days later, Charlie Brown is eating a piece of toast when he sees Violet staring at him.
Violet: Your sister's mashup is starting to get old! Tell her to stop!
Charlie Brown: Okay. I will. (He then went to the barracks and sees Sally being possessed by the mashup.) Sally! Are you okay?
Sally: Yeah. I'm... (The mashup plays out of her mouth again.) fine. But the song's stuck in my head! You were right! I was too proud of it and now it's literally stuck in my head! How do I get it out?!
Charlie Brown: Okay. Don't panic. Let me get Schroeder and he's gonna play you some Beethoven on this piano.
Sally: Okay.
When Schroeder entered...
Schroeder: You have to listen to the whole song. Okay?
Sally: Okay.
Schroeder starts playing one on Beethoven's symphonies on his piano.
Charlie Brown: Is it working?
Sally: I really hope so.
Schroeder: Sally, is the song out of your head yet?
Sally: No. I can still hear it.
Charlie Brown: Just keep playing.
Schroeder continues playing the song.
After Schroeder was done playing...
Charlie Brown: Is it out of your head?
Sally: No.
Charlie Brown: Good grief. Maybe a good night's sleep will help.
Later that night, Sally was asleep and she starts dreaming and she was walking in a white space and she sees the mixtape playing the mashup dancing. She screams and runs away. The mixtape comes to her and attacks her and she wakes up screaming.
Sally: It was just a dream...
The mixtape playing the mashup was actually real and he is dancing. Charlie Brown enters the barracks and sees this.
Charlie Brown: What?! How?!
Sally: I don't know!
The mashup continues playing.
Charlie Brown: We gotta get out of here.
The Brown siblings ran out of the barracks with the mixtape chasing them. They ran past several domers from Canada, Jamaica and China respectively. They continued running and they entered the dance room and barricaded the door.
Sally: You were right. I was too proud of my mashup and I regret it! I'm sorry!
Charlie Brown: It's okay, Sally. I forgive you. But we gotta find a way to get rid of this guy.
Sally: Maybe we should play a song so loud, it will be destroyed.
Charlie Brown: But what song should we play?
Sally: I know, but first, we gotta call everyone in here.
Night Club: No need. We were already in here cleaning up this room for the upcoming space prom. But don't worry. We have the really loud speakers.
Sally: But what about Rawls, Charlene and Toby?
Super Craig: They already have headphones on.
Charlie Brown: Okay. Get all the speakers ready!
The walking mixtape enters and is shocked to see a bunch of speakers while everybody had headphones on.
Charlie Brown: You ready Sally?
Sally: Hell yeah! Let's do it!
(Play Psychical by Olivia Newton-John for the rest of this section and skip to 0:45.)
Sally plays the song and the mixtape couldn't take the loud music.
The Coon: Sweet! It's working!
The mixtape gets up and plays the mashup louder.
Ace Savvy: Turn it up louder!
Psychical is louder than the mashup and they are all trying to make it as loud as it can and the mixtape powerfully blasts the mashup as loud as it can.
Portia: We're all doomed!
Gwen: We gotta think of something quick!
Night Club: I got this!
She plays a really loud note on her guitar and while Psychical is still playing, she plays a really loud rock solo and the mixtape could take it anymore. It begins to crack and then explodes shortly afterwards and they all cheered. Sally turns off Psychical.
Sally: We did it!
Charlie Brown: Let's hope we never have an incident like that again. Oh, and Sally, that mashup was already made on YouTube years ago.
Later in the barracks...
Sally: Big Brother, I'm glad I learned my lesson. I shouldn't be too proud of things I like or they will end up blowing up in my face.
Charlie Brown: Yeah. Let's hope we don't have an incident like that again. (He turns on the TV and hears Sally humming Psychical.) Oh good grief!
