The battle between Jason and Davis has finally begun. Davis battled as best as he could with him managing to defeat two of Jason's pokemon. However, Jason brought out Royflame as his third pokemon. In case you forgot, Royflame was Jason's first pokemon and possibly his strongest. With such a powerhouse on his side, just how can Davis defeat Jason?

(Davis' voice): A Crushing Setback
"Oceantter looks like it might be in real trouble. Royflame has a hold on it and isn't letting go." Royflame was able to stop Oceantter's attack like it was nothing. Now, poor Oceantter is caught in Royflame's grip and can't get free. Davis can't seem to think of a way to get out of this one.
"Use Darkest Lariat!" Jason called. Royflame tossed Oceantter up in the air. When it did that, Royflame gathered a dark aura around its hands. It spun around and smashed the power against Oceantter when it came down. "Now use Cross Chop!" Royflame crossed its arms and smashed them against Oceantter with incredible power. Oceantter was knocked all the way into a wall with the wall breaking apart from the force of the attack.
"Oceantter!" Davis called, but Oceantter was out.
"Oceantter is unable to battle! Royflame is the winner!"
"What incredible power! Royflame beat Oceantter so easily!"
"No way!" Adrien said with everyone stunned to see that. "I can't believe it beat a water-type like it was nothing! It barely took any damage!"
"Royflame isn't going to be an easy pokemon to beat." Cletus said. "I remember hearing that Royflame was Jason's first pokemon back when it was just a Fleo, and he did an excellent job in raising it. Davis better watchout because this one won't be easy to beat."
"So, what's Davis going to do? How can he stop that thing?" Terra questioned.
"Your Oceantter went down so easily when it had the type advantage. If you can't do better than that, you can't win." Jason said. "Starting to see that pokemon's power matters?"
"It might matter, but you act like that's all there is to it. I believe in what I share with my pokemon." Davis claimed once he got Oceantter back in its pokeball. "Skyjay, you're back in!"
"Skyjay!"
"And Davis brings back his Skyjay. Can it do what Oceantter couldn't?"
"Use Double Team to confuse Royflame!" Davis called. Skyjay made copies of itself so that Royflame can't tell which one is the real one. "Now use Wing Attack!" All the copies of Skyjay attacked. Royflame held up its arms and blocked any attacks that came at it with Skyjay attacking in that confusion.
"You really think that is going to help you? Use Royal Blaze!" Jason called. Royflame condensed all of its firepower and then released it in an explosion of a fiery dome. It didn't matter how many copies of Skyjay there was because they were all taken out with the real Skyjay getting hit by the attack.
"Skyjay!" Davis called. It was too much for Skyjay to handle, and it was knocked out of the battle.
"Skyjay is unable to battle! Royflame is the winner!"
"What an explosive display! Royflame took down two of Davis' pokemon like it was nothing. Now, they are tied with both sides losing two pokemon."
"Skyjay, return." Davis said with him bringing Skyjay back. "Terraflage, you're up next!" He brought out his next pokemon, and it was a surprising one.
"Terraflage!"
"What's this?! Davis brought out Terraflage!"
"Why would he use a grass-type against a fire-type?!" Marinette questioned.
"It will make sense soon enough." Terra said as she knows what Davis is thinking.
"Use Camouflage and become a pure ground-type!" Davis called. Terraflage did just that. It was surrounded by an orange aura and was changing its type.
"I knew Davis was going to use Camouflage. By transforming it into a pure ground-type, Royflame's fire-type attacks won't hurt as much." Terra said.
"Good idea, but I doubt that's going to be enough against such a powerful pokemon." Cletus said.
"Now use Terrain Burst!" Davis called. Terraflage gathered energy from the land it was standing on with it changing into a ground-type attack. Royflame fired the concentrated blast, but Royflame held up its arms and tried to block the attack. Royflame was being pushed back a little, but it was able endure against the attack.
"Oh my! That Terrain Burst turned into a ground-type attack, but Royflame was still able to take it!"
"Now use Cross Chop!" Jason called. Royflame charged right at Terraflage and chopped its two arms against Terraflage with Terraflage being pushed down.
"Hang in there, Terraflage! Use Rock Climb!" Davis called. Terraflage kept battling back. Terraflage smashed its front legs against the ground and caused the land under Royflame to rise up. Once that happened, Terraflage climbed its way up to tackle Royflame.
"Use Blast Burn!" Jason called. Royflame gathered all the firepower it could and smashed its fist on the ground it was standing on. When that happened, power was beginning to erupt from the ground until it erupted right under Terraflage in a blazing fire. It was too much for Terraflage to handle. A fierce explosion went off and desolated the field. When the dust cleared away, Terrflage was knocked out.
"Terraflage is unable to battle! Royflame is the winner!"
"And that's the third pokemon that Royflame was able to beat!"
"That Royflame is too powerful! It was able to beat three of Davis' pokemon when they all used attacks that should have been super effective against it!" Terra said.
"Now what's Davis going to do?" Nino questioned.
"I don't know, but there has to be a way he can win." Adrien said. They're not giving up hope on Davis just yet. Davis isn't giving up yet. He might be down a pokemon now, but he can still pull off a win.
"Royflame, return. You might not be needed anymore. This is too easy." Jason said with him switching out his pokemon. "I was expecting something a little more challenging, but your pokemon are just as weak as they always have been. You're going to need to step up your game." Normally, Davis would have been insulted by that, but instead he laughed it off. Jason didn't expect that.
"You really are something else, Jason, but I'm the one that's going to win." Davis claimed with him having his next pokemon ready. Jason was a little surprised. Davis is losing, but he seems to be enjoying himself.
"If you think you can still win, you'll have to prove it." Jason claimed. "Altaria, time for battle!"
"Altaria!"
"Jason switches Royflame for Altaria. What pokemon will Davis go with?"
"Cheebolt, you're up!" Davis called.
"Cheebolt!"
"And it's Cheebolt this time. We'll see if Davis can even the score or if Jason can still maintain his lead."
"Disarming Voice!" Jason called. Altaria unleashed a sonic blast from its voice. It resonated against Cheebolt, but Cheebolt was able to endure against it. "Now use Dragon Breath!"
"Use Flash Cannon!" Davis called. Both pokemon used their attacks and they collided into each other.
"It's a collision of attacks. It appears to be even right now, but will that last?" Both sides were pouring as much power as they could, but Cheebolt added a little more with Flash Cannon driving through that Dragon Breath and blasted Altaria. "And Altaria is the one that gets attacked!"
"Keep it up, Cheebolt! Use Fury Swipes!" Davis called. Cheebolt charged right at Altaria and jumped right at it. Cheebolt started slashing away at Altaria and Altaria was taking some damage.
"Shake it off and use Fire Blast!" Jason called. Altaria was able to push aside Cheebolt. After that, Altaria fired a five-point flame right at Cheebolt, but Cheebolt used its incredible speed and was able to avoid the attack.
"Nice work, Cheebolt! Now use Bite!" Davis called. Cheebolt charged right at Altaria and managed to take a bite out of it.
"Altaria, Dragon Breath!" Jason called.
"I don't think so! Flash Cannon!" Davis called. Cheebolt was able to attack before Altaria could. Cheebolt blasted Altaria with Flash Cannon once again and was able to knock Altaria right out of the sky and out of the battle.
"Altaria is unable to battle! Cheebolt is the winner!"
"And Davis has even the scored."
"Nice work, Cheebolt!" Davis cheered. "You take a bit of rest right now. Something tells me I might need you for later." He claimed with him bringing Cheebolt back in its pokeball.
"Armourn, time for battle!" Jason called with him bringing out his next pokemon.
"Armourn!"
"Now, Jason is bringing out Armourn. It holds the powers of a ghost-type as well as a steel-type. How does Davis plan to battle against that?"
"Werevil, let's go!" Davis called with him bringing out his next pokemon.
"Were!"
"And Davis brings out Werevil. A good match for a ghost-type, but we'll soon see if that is enough for this battle."
'Out of all the pokemon I've caught in Grecko, Werevil is the only one Jason hasn't battled against.' Davis thought. 'He doesn't know where Werevil is truly capable of. That might be the edge that I need.' "Werevil, Night Slash!" Werevil charged right at Armourn and got ready to attack.
"Phantom Force!" Jason called. Armourn had a portal open right underneath it and caused Werevil's attack to miss. Now, Werevil has no idea where Armourn is going to come out from. Werevil looked around until Armourn reappeared in front of it and smashed its fist against Werevil. "Now use Shadow Punch!" Werevil fired a shadowy fist and it blasted Werevil. "Keep the attacks going! Attack with Shadow Sneak!" Armourn stretched out its shadow and was going to use it to attack Werevil.
"I don't think so! Werevil, use Shadow Ball and aim it right at the ground!" Davis called. Werevil did just what Davis said and launched the attack against the ground. It hit right where the shadow was coming from, but Werevil's attack was able to stop it.
"Unbelievable! Werevil was able to stop Shadow Sneak with Shadow Ball!"
"We're not done just yet! Shadow Ball again!" Davis called.
"Now use Iron Defense!" Jason called. Werevil attacked once again, but Armourn raised its defensive power. The Shadow Ball still came at it, but Armourn was able to endure the attack and was still standing. "How predictable."
"Say what?" Davis questioned.
"You thought I wouldn't be ready for your Werevil because I haven't battled it before, but that's where you miscalculated." Jason claimed. "I've been watching your battles. I've studied your Werevil, so I know what to expect. You've been using the same pokemon through this whole tournament while I've been switching mine around."
"So what? You're talking like that matters." Davis said. "Who cares if you know all about my pokemon while I don't know about yours. It doesn't change a thing! Werevil, let's show him! Use Crunch!" Werevil charged right at Armourn and ready to sink its teeth in it.
"You never learn. Use Phantom Force!" Jason called. Armourn disappeared in darkness once again and caused Werevil's attack to miss. Armourn reappeared in front of Werevil again and struck it once again. "Use Phantom Force again!"
"Not this time! Shadow Ball!" Davis called. Just as Armourn was about to disappear through another portal, Werevil launched another attack. The Shadow Ball went right in before the portal closed and caused an explosion of darkness to go off. As for Armourn, it came flying out of the smoke and bounced against the ground and wasn't getting back up.
"Armourn is unable to battle! Werevil is the winner!"
"Armourn is now down. That leaves Jason with only two pokemon left."
"This is shaping to be one back and forth battle." Alya said. "It could really go either way."
"But Davis is doing rather well." Marinette said. "All he has to do is defeat Jason's last two pokemon and he'll win."
"It's not that simple." Cletus said. "Davis might have more pokemon, but they've all taken some significant damage. As for Jason's pokemon, Royflame has hardly taken any damage and one hasn't even battled yet. Davis isn't out of the woods."
"All will be fine." Terra said. "Remember that this is Davis we're talking about. I'm sure he'll come up with some sort of plan. There's just no way he's going to allow himself to lose to Jason after coming this far." That might be true. Davis is battling his hardest to beat Jason. Even if his remaining pokemon are in better condition than Davis', Davis is going to keep battling hard.
"That Davis always seems to have a surprising move." Laurel said.
"Indeed. He's brimming with potential." Specter claimed.
"So is his opponent." Simon said. "I never had the chance to battle Davis myself, but I have battled Jason briefly." Simon said.
"You battled my son?" Fauna asked.
"Yes. I accepted his challenge because I knew he was your boy." Simon said. "I wanted to see what he was truly capable of. Jason is quite driven. He didn't hesitate to challenge me, one of the Elite Four, so I say he's aware of his limits while also believing in his own abilities. However, seeing this battle, the two of them seem quite different from each other and yet similar in ways."
"I would have to agree." Bruce claimed. "Davis battles with heart and spirit, while Jason seems to battle with power and mind. They are like two conflicting forces. The one with the stronger will should decide the winner of this battle. Whoever wants to win more will be the one left standing." This is becoming one intense battle. The two of them keep going at each other with no sign of stopping until the last pokemon drops.
"Well, what do you think now, Jason?" Davis said with Jason bringing Armourn back in its pokeball.
"I guess it shows this team still has ways to go." Jason said.
"Ways to go? What does he mean by that?" Terra questioned.
"Wait a second..." Cletus said as he tried to do some thinking. "Could it be?! I think that's what he's going for!"
"What?" Adrien said.
"Jason's goal is to defeat his mother and surpass her. In order for him to do that, he has to defeat the Elite Four first." Cletus explained. "Each of the Elite Four specialize in these four-types: ice, ghost, psychic, and dragon. Think about the types Jason has been using in this battle up until now. Each one would have the type advantage over at least one member of the Elite Four. Some of them would have the advantage over two or even three of them. They even know some attacks that would help with the type disadvantage they would have. Some of them would even work against Fauna's Komodra."
"Are you saying that the pokemon he's using in this battle is the same team he plans to use when he challenges them?!" Terra said.
"I believe so, something like a warm-up for that moment." Cletus said. "However, the fact that Davis is able to hold his own against a team like this really says something." This is quite the revalation. This might be considered Jason's strongest team, but will that mean Davis will lose or can he find a way to beat it.
"Royflame, time for battle!" Jason called with him bringing back his strongest pokemon.
"Royflame!"
"Royflame... One hit from Cross Chop and Werevil is finished." Imperialdramon claimed.
"Royflame might be Jason's most powerful pokemon, but if there's a way to bring it down, I'll find it." Davis claimed.
The battle between Davis and Jason continues to grow intense. Jason's overwhelming power kight be crushing Davis, but Davis refuses to stay down. Which one will walk out as the winner? Stay tuned.
