Now let's talk about this section of the store. Just like we were talking about before, this section of the store is more like a storage unit owned by a factory instead of shop. This particular basement is also a lot more reinforced than the building on top of it or the other basement, which is also understandable. But I'm not going to inspect that place, I'll only focus on the building on top of it for now.
We walk down multiple aisles with me getting carried on Sheffy's shoulders and Dido and Nui being what basically, my secretaries. I would ask about a specified components and Nui would guide me toward where it's store and tell me the amount of it and Dido would note it down about which sizes and types that need to be restock.
"Why are we short on this particular screw size, Nui?" I ask her when I see a particular plastic box that contain less screw than it peers. Maybe the shipgirl's riggings use this particular screw size more than the other. Shouldn't that mean we need to order more of this? Battleship main gun, Destroyer main gun, Light Cruiser main gun, Heavy Cruiser main gun, Submarine torpedo, Surface torpedo tube, AA guns, Anti-submarine equipment, Auxiliary items, Fighter plane, Dive Bomber plane, Torpedo Bomber plane, Seaplane, and Others. Those are a lot of categories and those equipment are still further categorized by their quality. A gray or black sticker is tack on the lowest quality of equipment while a gold sticker for the highest quality equipment.
"…the purple equipment are much fewer than anticipated." Sheffy whisper to herself as she looks at the checklist on her hand. I pat Dido's head and told her to get closer to Sheffy until I manages to see the checklist on her hand.
"It's the same reason as to why we have a lot of fully upgraded gray equipment, everyone is getting stronger." Hmm? Why is that? Nui seems to notice the confusion on my face and then explain.
Simply put it, Azur Lane have a system where shipgirl would need to prove themselves in order to receive a permit that would allow them to use a higher grade equipment. A new shipgirl would get gray quality equipment, this is so that Stella would get a data about the girl preferences and how well they handled some particular equipment. And if you're asking, Stella wouldn't allow the new girl to immediately jump in to fight the siren, most of the time the new girls would only participate in exercise. I guess that's understandable since she is not an idiot who'll throw her soldier into battle with the worst quality equipment.
"For example, there's a girl name Ayanami in the Sakura Empire who use a gold quality surface torpedo tube while using a blue quality destroyer main gun." Ayanami? The equipment situation on that girl mean that she is a prodigy on using surface torpedo tube while having a somewhat questionable skill with her main gun since blue is the second lowest quality.
"Can she uses a main gun that could also be used as an AA gun?" I have seen on the field where destroyer would use their main gun to shoot at an approaching aircraft and having a commendable accuracy and damage. "Nui, you're a destroyer right? Can you use your main gun as an AA gun?"
"… Hmm… yes… that could also be an option." Sheffy write something down on her checklist. "…but it could also cause a shortage of higher quality equipment… currently, most destroyers are using a blue or a purple quality main gun since they mainly use their surface torpedo tube to inflict damage." She is right about that. If we start applying my suggestion on a large scale then that mean we need to change a lot of main gun and it's not like we can just pop out those main guns with magic or something.
