Thursday - Moving in: The move, part 2 - Mike and Lizz

Mike drove up to the new complex, surprised to see that there were already rabbits there finishing the lockdown of their trucks from Nick and Judy's move. Stopping and rolling down his window when he saw Max. "Hey, Max. I led them here, but not sure what to do next."

Max looked up with a smile. "Hey, Mike! No worries. We're just finishing up with Nick and Judy. You head off and park, then meet us at your apartment. I'll get Lizza and your team situated in the offloading area as we'll be moving out of it in short order."

Mike nodded. "Thanks Max." Mike then drove down into the underground parking and to his spot right next to Nick and Judy's car. They actually had several spaces each in the garage, so getting a second car was definitely on the agenda at some point. Especially with pups on the way. There was actually far more parking in the underground garage than needed for the complex, as if families with multiple cars were part of the plan. Mike chuckled to himself as he walked to the stairs that led to the exit right next to their apartments, Mike just knew they would end up with a minivan. He was going to advocate for an SUV, but he knew a minivan was in his future.

Walking around the corner towards their apartment, he saw that the door to Nick and Judy's was open, along with his. Poking his head into Nick and Judy's, he saw Lizz sitting on a large mammal chair and grinned. "Hi love." Entering and giving her a kiss as soon as he was next to her, which she leaned into gratefully.

"Hi Mike. I missed you."

"I missed you too. How have you been?"

Lizz smiled. "I met some of our neighbors which was really great. I also met our two new nephews." Indicating the two wolf pups on the couch. "Nick, Jake. Say hi to your Uncle Mike."

Mike turned to see a pair of wolf pups on the couch talking to fox-Nick. Their ears perked up as their eyes shifted to see him and wide smiles appeared on their muzzles. Little Nick hopped off the couch and approached Mike. "Are you really my uncle?"

Mike Kneeled down. "I am. I'm Ed's older brother. Are you Nick or Jake?"

"I'm Nick, sir."

Mike grinned. "Hello Nick. I'm your uncle Mike." Looking up at Jake who was looking around fox-Nick, but also trying to hide behind him. "So that means you're Jake, right?" Seeing the shy nod. "Well, why don't you both come over here and give your uncle a hug?"

Jake quickly jumped off the couch and approached cautiously. "You're really our uncle?"

Mike nodded. "I am. Ed is my little brother. You two got some really good parents. I know you miss your birth parents, but I promise you, Ed and Elli will love you as their own pups. Just as Lizz and I will love you as our nephews. Now come on. I'm still waiting for that hug."

Both pups looked at each other, then threw themselves into Mike's arms, which he quickly, but gently wrapped around them. Jake spoke from within the hug. "Are you and auntie Lizz really having pups together?"

Mike chuckled as he released the pups who stepped back, tails wagging happily. "Yes we are. So you will be older cousins very soon. I'm sure two strong, responsible wolves like yourselves can be relied on to look after and protect them once they're born, right?"

Grinning like the pups they were, tails going so fast they were almost a blur, they both nodded, Nick speaking. "You can count on us, Uncle Mike."

Elli entered the apartment. "Nick? Jake? You in here?"

They spun around, tails still going 100 mph. Speaking in unison. "Mom! We got to mean our Auntie Lizz and Uncle Mike today!" Jake taking over. "They are moving in today. Then we got to mean Auntie Judy and Uncle Nick. Judy is a rabbit and Nick is a fox and they're having pups together, just like Uncle Mike and Auntie Lizz are."

Grinning and wrapping the pups in a hug. "That they are, and you called me mom." Sniffing and trying to blink away tears.

Nick speaking from inside the hug. "You are our mom now. We miss our mom, but we love you too. Now we also get to have a tiger as an auntie, and new cousins to play with soon. When does dad get home? Can we have Uncle Mike and Auntie Lizz over for dinner tonight?"

Fox-Nick laughed from the couch. "Actually, I'm having pizza delivered to feed all the rabbits that helped move your uncle and aunt. We ordered lots of extra, so as long as your mom is okay with it, I will make sure you both get some. How does that sound?"

Both pups turn from listening to Nick, to look at Elli, pleading looks on their faces. Little Nick speaking. "Can we mom? Pleeeeease" Both clearly ready to whip out the puppy dog eyes and go into full beg mode if needed. It was pizza after all.

"I don't see a problem, but no more than two slices. You know if you eat too much you'll get a tummy ache. Remember what happened when you had too many of my tacos."

Judy pipped in. "Maybe you boys want to go let your friends know so they can ask their parents too."

They both looked at Elli expectantly, who gave them a nod. "Go on. Let your friends know."

Lizz grinned over at Elli as the pups ran out of the apartment at full sprints. "Those two are so precious I can't stand it. How have you been, Elli?"

Elli smiled. "Good. You?"

"As well as can be expected. Met some neighbors, Sasha and Will Thresh. Nice couple. Sasha invited me in for some lemonade and snacks while I waited."

Elli nodded. "They're good mammals. But really, everyone here is."

Nick's cell started ringing at that moment. Pulling it out, he slid the answer button. "This is Wilde."

The loud voice of the phone could be heard by most in the room. "Wilde! Open the gate so we can deliver ya damn pizza. I got the whole shop out here, with all their cars and the delivery van chock full."

Grinning and hanging up the phone, Nick walked over to the smart control panel and hit the button for the entry camera. A moment later the image on the surprisingly large twelve inch color screen lit up showing a fairly normal looking grey wolf, Germoni Thrask, and Ginny Thrask, an Ethiopain Wolf that looked similar to an over-sized fox in color, but wolf by appearance. Nick hit the intercom. "Ground level, opposite corner from where you are entering." He then hit the open button for the gate allowing the wolves, and their employees, loaded down with pizzas, to enter.

Nick then headed out in the courtyard where he found Max and team already setting up tables for the pizza's to be put on. With a grin, Nick called out. "Hey, Max! Thanks. I was just going to ask if you could do that."

Walking over Max smiled up at Nick. "Someone let slip that you would be providing pizza for the entire crew. We'll have the last items finished up for you in about fifteen minutes, and for Lizz and Mike, if Lizza is to be believed, in about thirty. She was complaining that they need furniture, and honestly, so do you. Even if mom did have us bring in some stuff for the kits."

Nick nodded. "I saw some of it, and we do. We will be buying new stuff soon, I promise. As for the kit stuff, cribs and such, we appreciate it. I will call Bonnie and thank her, but please pass on our thanks as well."

Max grinned. "Of course. You're family, so you shouldn't have to buy stuff, not when we have some of the best carpenters in the burrows and beyond."

Mike walked up behind Nick. "Yeah... We know. We really haven't had the space. Now we will have to buy some so we can fill this new place. That said, we're not going to be buying a lot, because once the owner cleans it up, we move in there." Pointing to the townhouse. "This current place is just temporary until then. A few months at most, then we will be moving again into the townhouse, and at that point we'll buy up the rest of the furniture we will need to fill it.

Max grinned. "That's great. Looks specious."

Mike smiled and looked at the townhouse for a moment. "It is. It's going to be perfect for our pups to grow up in, as well as any we adopt. At least until mom and dad decide to step down. Then we have to move into the estate."

Nick looked up at Mike. "So, when you officially become Alpha, you have to move into the estate? Was never clear on that."

Mike shook his head, looking back and then leaning into Lizz. "Well, technically no. However, if we maintain jobs, then our responsibilities as Alphas, which nearly all happen at the estate, having a different home..."

Nick chuckled. "Oh... I get you. Living at the estate makes sense then. You'd end up getting off work, going to the estate to do Alpha stuff, then have to leave to go home. Yeah, that's a non-starter for sure. Well, from what I picked up from your Dad, they have no intention of stepping down any time soon. As your First, I'm just going to tell you not to worry about that. Focus on Lizz, your pups, and all that. We'll deal with the whole wolf wedding thing in a few months, and neither Judy nor I are going to let anything bad happen."

Mike smiled. "Thanks Nick. You're right. It has just been a lot over the past week and I'm still getting used to the idea that not only are Lizz and I no longer hiding, but we're married officially."

Nick gave Mike a wink. "Of course I am. That's why you wanted me as your First. Now, let's feed our ladies before Max and his teams eat it all."

Max looked up, giving Nick a look. "Oh, come off it Nick. We don't eat that much."

Nick chuckled. "You forget. I have actually been to the warren, before Stu realized that Judy and I were together. I've seen what meal times look like."

Max shook his head. "Fine. Point. I noticed you got a lot of meat pizzas too, for which most of us appreciate."

"Just trying to make sure my family is properly fed, and I know now that the whole meat eating thing has spread through the warren, most of you are going to at least try a slice, if you haven't already started to eat meat."

Max laughed. "Mom has added at least one chicken dish to the dinner menu, and roasted sliced turkey is on the lunch sandwich menu now. So yeah. Anyone that wants to eat it has the opportunity."

Giving a small laugh, Nick smiled. "Nice. If Judy and I are finally welcome back to the burrow, there will be stuff I can eat, other than protein bars."

Maz smiled and looked over his shoulder at Mike as he led the way towards the pizza. "That there will be. Oh, Mike. You have three cribs, a changing table, and a dresser, six drawers, going into your place. When they found out what was going on and what it was all for, they just built them along with the stuff for Nick and Judy. Consider it a gift from the Hopps clan to the Wolford pack in remembrance of the ancient pact between us."

Mike nodded. "That sound is really outstanding. Thank you Max. I don't know if I'm supposed to do anything."

"Nothing. Like I said, it is a gift. But… If you really want to thank us, make sure you come out to the burrow for a visit."

"We will do that. I'm sure of it."

Mike and Nick then loaded up one of three empty boxes with slices for their mates and themselves and walked them back into Nick's apartment where their mates waited. After eating they all exited the apartment as word had gotten around about the pizza.

Impromptu Block Party

Exiting the apartment, the group is greeted by the sight of nearly a hundred rabbits intermingling with dozens of other mammals including three tigers, a siberian tiger, wolves, deer, and various other species from across the spectrum. They found Max behind a DJ setup and Jacob, the manager and owner making a request with a grin on his face. A moment later, We are Family by Sister Hedgehog (Sister Sledge), started playing. The grins on the entire assemblage grew as the entire crowd, rabbits and non, started singing along to the chorus, a mic was passed to Lizz and Judy who took on alternating on the lead.

After that song finished, the mics were passed to Mike and Nick as the Celebration by Kool & The Gang started. Joyous shouts, roars, howls, and other sounds from the various mammals echoed through the comlex. As that song ended, Party Rock by LMFAO started up and with some encouragement from Max on his own mic, any mammal with an instrument was encouraged to retrieve it. Other songs Max spun for the parting included more LMFAO, Redfoo, Bruin Marz (Bruno Mars), and other party anthems.

In short order an impromptu band was assembled that included three saxophones, five trumpets, a trombone, four bass guitars, five six strings, and two twelve string, one of which was Nick's, and with the help of the rabbits, two drum sets were deployed. The band tuned up and was quickly playing, the various mammals tapping in and out when they knew a song or not, with Max spinning songs from the DJ setup in between.

The party was in full swing, band playing, and extra food ordered to make up for the completely destroyed pizza when Maria entered using the code Judy had given her. To say that she was shocked by what she found would be an understatement. The throng of mammals, predator and prey, all celebrating, eating together, and even singing together. The band itself took her breath away as she took out her phone and started recording. It didn't matter that they were not always that great, it was the comroderry, the fact that species didn't matter, they were just having fun, together. She stood in the back and watched, filling her phone's memory until she could record nothing more. Jarvis picked up recording with his phone when hers gave up.

Jarvis looked down to his mate. "Love, this is not what I was expecting. This is amazing."

Maria wiped away a tear and grinned. "It really is. It really is."

That was when the tiger and gazelle were noticed by a young deer doe that looked to be in her late teens or early twenties. The doe smiled as she walked up to them. "Hi. You look just like Gazelle. Who are you looking for?"

Maria smiled down at the young doe who was slightly shorter than she was. "I'm here looking for some of your new residents. Nick and Judy, a fox and rabbit. They were supposed to be moving in today and I wanted to bring them a housewarming gift. Wasn't expecting the party."

The doe laughed. "No, no one was. But the rabbits brought a DJ booth, then we ran out of pizza so someone ordered Chinese, then the band happened. Well, it just went from there."

"I see. Well, do you think you can show me to their apartment?"

Grinning up at Maria, the doe nodded. "Sure, follow me. Since most of the kits have school tomorrow, I'm sure the party will wind down soon."

The doe then led the way around the side along the actual apartment fronts to the corner apartments where Lizz/Mike and Nick/Judy were fully moved into. It only took a moment from there to find the two pregnant mammals sitting with several others who were also pregnant. Walking up behind Judy, Maria wrapped her arms around Judy. "Hey Judes, can I join the conversation?"

Judy beamed. "Of course. Wasn't expecting you today though. Pull up a chair." Looking to the other mammals. "Ladies, this is Maria. She was my college roommate and we have been friends ever since. The big tiger behind her is Jarvis, her mate since I introduced them and shoved them both out on their first date."

One of the assembled pregnant mammals, a stoat, grinned. "Well, it is a pleasure to meet you. Pull up a chair. We were all just discussing what it is like to be mated to someone of a different species, and you and your mate are about as different as they come. Much like Judy and her fox. I can only imagine that your cultural differences were as big an obstacle as Nick and Judy had to get past."

Maria nodded as Jarvis dropped off a chair before heading off in search of Nick and Mike. "It certainly was, although we had Judy to help us though. She was constantly reminding us of the fact that we were from such different cultures and to make sure we talked through any misunderstanding."

A lynx chuckled. "Oh, how I wish I had someone like that to keep me and my mate from each other's throats. Though, once you get past those stages, that early contention, things get so much better."

Judy nodded. "So very true. Nick and I knew going in that we would have differences and difficulties. I think we spend the first week just talking, going over expectations, culture, who is expected to do what, and when. Even then, we had our issues."

Lizz smiled. "You got through it though. With Mike and I, talking was one of the things we did most of the time. It was months before we even got past the point of a kiss, so I guess we were lucky that way. Our fear after what happened to Ed and Elli probably saved us a lot of that initial angst."

A white tailed deer groaned. "I'm so jealous. Henry and I had to go through it all, and we broke up at least twice, but there just never was anyone better for me then Henry."

The collected ladies, pregnant and otherwise, all agreed with that sentiment. The lynx from before turning to Judy. "So, Judy. What clinic did you go to?"

Smiling, Judy chuckled. "Well, both Lizz and I are seeing an interspecies procreation specialist, Dr. Reddilis. That said, we're both seeing her because our mates are in fact the fathers of our kits. Nick is the father of my kits, and Mike is the father of Lizz's. According to the doctor, we were probably pregnant many, many times, but only this batch was viable, and completely healthy as far as the doc can tell."

The deer's eyes went wide. "No way! A pred-prey cross?"

Maria nodded. "Yep. One of the first things the doctor does is a genetic profile to see if you are in fact compatible at all. Jarvis and I are seeing her now. We got word back from the tests this morning. We are compatible, but only just, so our chances are lower."

A loud screech of joy suddenly sounded from the upper level. All eyes looking up as Ed spins Elli around in a huge hug and lets out a howl of Joy. They quickly make their way down, Elli rushing over to the group where Lizz and Judy were. Elli was almost screaming in joy. "Dr. Reddilis just called. Ed and I went back in for another test cause I have been feeling weird. We're not only compatible, barely, but we are. But I'm pregnant!" The screams of joy quieted the rest of the party as everyone looked over to the ladies. Elli turned to everyone, almost screaming. "The doctor called, and while Ed and I are only just barely compatible, making our chances really low, we are compatible. But, I'm also pregnant!"

A huge cheer rose from the crowd as a roar of sound as congratulations were passed around, along with requests for the doctor's information. Something that was eagerly given out.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Nick and Mike were relieved on the band, Max taking over from the DJ booth to keep things going. Will walked up trailing another mammal that Nick recognized as Headbanger.

Laughing, Nick stood up, handing Mike his beer. "Well, would you look at that, Headbanger himself. What's up, you old goat?"

James Hardin 'Headbanger' Banger shook his head. "Well, as I live and breathe. Will wasn't kidding, Crimson Wilde, the fox himself. How you been CW?"

Nick pulled the goat into a hug. "Better knowing that you made it out of all that mess we were in as kits."

James nodded. "I hear that. I'm just James now. I work night security and should be sleeping for another hour, but how can I resist an impromptu party? So, is it true? Are you a cop now?"

Nick laughed harder and dragged the goat over towards Mike. "I've been a cop for several years, currently a sergeant and hoping to make detective soon. I married a rabbit, or should I say, the rabbit. Judy Hopps."

James laughed. "No way!"

Nick gave James a friendly shove. "Totally did, though it was more her landing me. I am a fox after all. Let me introduce you to a friend of mine. Mike Wolford, this is James Banger. Back in the day we used to call him Headbanger."

Mike laughed. "I knew it! You do realize that the gang unit has a huge file on the 7th Street Punks."

Nick smirked. "I do. Those idiots couldn't detect their way out of a paper bag. Even if they did figure out that I was CW, I was a minor at the time, all of us were. Not that we ever did anything strictly illegal."

Mike gave Nick a look. "Dude, I've seen the file of things attributed to you guys."

"Key word is, attributed. I've seen the file too, and not a damn thing in that file is anything done by us, it was all the Herd, and blamed on us to cover their tails. That's what I mean about them not being able to detect their way out of a wet paper bag. We were just a group of young kits looking out for each other, the oldest was James, and he was seventeen when we broke up. That's why he was the old goat, he was at least a year older than anyone else."

Mike closed his eyes in pain. "And every crime listed there was committed by one type of mammal, and estimated age was at least twenties."

Nick nodded. "Now you're getting it Mike."

Ed walked up to the group. "Nick, Mike? Have you guys seen Elli?"

"I think I saw her taking a call and headed up to your apartment. Kinda noisy down here."

Ed nodded. "Thanks!" Heading off.

Germoni and Ginny approached as Nick sat back down and got his beer back from Mike. Nick nodded to them both. "What's the good word? We needed to order more pizza's, didn't we?"

Germoni laughed. "Yeah, you needed at least three times that, but someone has ordered some chinese in from a local place. Cleaned them out, but I don't think you'll have leftovers. Still a hell of a thing to watch an army of rabbits chow down on a meat pizza. They're all siblings of your rabbit?"

Nick grinned. "Yep. Either brothers, sisters, or cousin's of Judy's. Most of her family are able to eat meat. So, how have you two been?"

Ginny smiled and gave Nick a hug. "We've been great. Why have you been such a stranger?"

Nick shrugged once released from the hug. "It just never seemed like the time to stop in. Then Judy hopped into my life, I got respectable, and wasn't sure if you were still mad at me. Didn't want to take my mate somewhere only to have the proprietors throw me out for cause."

Germoni nodded. "Ah, that makes sense. And with your mate being the Judy Hopps."

"Right…"

Germoni sighed. "We got over it pretty quick, Nick. So don't be a stranger. I would think this whole thing shows that we don't have any hard feelings, but what do you mean by respectable?"

Nick pulled his badge out. "Sergeant Nick Wilde, ZPD, Precinct One, at your service."

Ginny gasped then punched Germoni in the shoulder. "I told you! I freaking told you!" Punching Germoni again.

Rubbing his shoulder, Germoni glared at his mate. "You did, but does that really require such abuse?"

Nick laughed. "I'm off duty, so I can't arrest Ginny for spousal abuse. You're on your own Germ."

"Story of my life." Giving Mike a nod. "Designate."

Mike smiled up at Germoni and Ginny. "Germoni. Ginny. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. I do hope my First isn't giving you too hard a time."

Ginny froze and Germoni let out a choking bark before shaking himself out. "So it is true? You selected a Fox as your first?"

Mike nodded. "Well, I have taken a tigress as my mate, who is actually carrying my pups. The fox and rabbit that we chose as our Firsts pulled off a complete wedding with an actual officiant that was able to do invocations for both Lizz and I. That by itself would warrant having them as our Firsts, but there are so many reasons. They are simply the ideal mammals for the job and will give us a perspective from outside the pack. Something I dare say has served my parents well."

Germoni nodded with a smile. "Then that is good that you have selected them. What I know of this fox, he'll be underestimated quickly, to the detriment of those that may stand against you. Congratulations on your wedding, by the way. I've seen the photos in the society pages. It looked like it was a beautiful ceremony, and a midnight one at that with the moon full. Lucky."

Mike grinned up at Germoni and Ginny. "Thank you both. It was amazing what Nick and Judy pulled off in just a few short hours."

Ginny laughed and shook her head. "You're telling me that the fox and rabbit pulled off what I saw articles about in the society pages, photos of which look like something planned over a year. How much did it cost?"

Nick laughed. "Nothing, Ginny. If anything, despite calling in a few favors, Carrots and I ended the night with more favors owed than we started. As for cost, we didn't pay a cent, nor did Mike and Lizz, nor the Alphas. It was all either favors, or services in exchange for... It's like the flowers. That was the Ottertons, friends of Judy and I. They are currently on a family vacation. The flowers you see in those photos were going to go to waste, instead, the Ottertons get to use the fact that they did the flowers for Mike and Lizz's wedding in their promos and advertising. Same with the photographer, all he has to do is provide a proper photo album and he gets to use the photos in him promo material."

Ginny laughed. "So who catered it then? I saw food."

Nick grigged wider, showing teeth. "Fin did the DJ'ing as well as the catering. He purchased Therus, and is going into partnership with Gideon Grey, who did the cake."

Germoni gasped. "Fin bought Therus? When? Since when?"

Nick laughed again. "Yes, and his place is considered a safe place for inter couples. Gideon is literally the best baker I have ever met. He'll be moving into the place next to Therus. Once he is set up, all the deserts sold at Therus will be from Gideon's, while Gid will be adding some paw meals and such to the menu provided by Therus."

Ginny nodded. "Smart. This Gideon won't get a lot per slice of the pie, but being right next door, I'd happily pop in to pick up a fresh pie to take home. If I know that Therus is supplying the paw meals and I'm in a hurry, grabbing one from Gid's allows Fin to focus on the sit-down customers."

Nick nodded. "This is why I was always telling you that you should open up a small side-shop that sells your pies by the slice."

Ginny frowned with a groan. "He won't do it. I agree with you, Nick. Yet he won't do it."

Germoni growled. "I didn't say I wouldn't, I said I didn't like the idea."

"We'll make more per pie that way. It's not as if we'd be closing the main restaurant. It's an expansion, you hard headed wolf!" Ginny growled at Germoni in frustration and punched him in the shoulder again.

Germoni flinched. "Okay! Ouch! I get it. We can talk about it seriously tomorrow after service, okay?"

"Good!"

James laughed at the antics. "My gods, Wilde. You really have changed, and in a good way."

Smiling, Nick nodded. "I have. I have a mission in life, a purpose, which is being added to. First Judy, then the job, and now the kits she is bringing into this world for us. Also, It's WildeHopps, James. We are properly married, both according to fox tradition and the city. Now that she's starting to talk to her parents again, I suspect we'll be having the huge bunny wedding some time after the kits are born."

Nodding, James sighed. "That's awesome Nick. I am just surprised that you're willing to raise rabbit kits."

Nick shook his head with a wry smirk. "Everyone assumes that, don't they Mike."

Mike nodded with a chuckle. "They do. It's a reasonable assumption I suppose, given our species differences are so severe. Yet as Dr. Reddilis has told us many times, that matters a lot less now than it did a few centuries ago."

Ginny looked between Mike and Nick in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Nick stood up and pointed Ginny at the ladies. "It means that the very pregnant rabbit you see there is carrying hybrid fox/bunny kits, and that tigress is carrying wolf/tiger hybrids. The odds were not in our favor, but you roll the dice enough and you're going to win eventually."

Ginny blinked a few times, then turned to Nick, studying his face. "You're serious. Not a clinic, not adopting, but your own kits?"

Nick nodded with a genuine smile Ginny had never seen before. "Yep. Healthy as far as the doc can tell. She's a specialist in interspecies breeding. We were referred by our primary, who is in fact one of Judy's siblings. They were told about them by their mate, who is a fennec fox, though tall for one."

Ginny grinned. "That is amazing, Nick! I'm so happy for you and Judy."

"We're still going to adopt a few kits as well. There are way too many out there that won't get adopted just because of their species. Judy and I are going to adopt at least two. How about you Mike?"

Mike nodded. "Same. The pack makes sure that wolves never go without good homes, just look at Nick and Jake being adopted by Ed and Elli. No, we'll also be adopting a few pups who are not wolves. Don't know what yet, but we will."

At that moment the joyous scream from the upper level quieted everyone down. Mike chuckled. "I'm willing to bet that they met with Dr. Reddilis and they are at least compatible, if distantly."

Nick nodded. "I will not be taking that bet. That is much the same sound that Judy made when the doc called and told us that not only were we compatible, but she was pregnant."

Elli's announcement broke out the cheers, howls, roars, and other sounds. Nick and Mike made their way to their mates so they could catch up with their friends and Mike's brother. Jarvis had found them just as Elli made the announcement.

As the afternoon moved into evening, Judy's family left the complex after some teary goodby's and quite a few numbers being exchanged. By eight that evening, the party had fully broken up, kits were being put to bed as they had school the next day, and the new residents of the complex had retired to their new apartments for the night.
