I was currently at home with my family as we went over my mom's political strategy. I was still nervous about this because I knew that I needed to make sure that she lived.
"A successful mayoral campaign isn't about polling, it isn't about fundraising, or hot button issues. It's about connecting with people. That's why right after we announce tomorrow morning I want to get you in front of as many cameras as possible." Her strategist explained.
"Mark, I want to help rebuild the city, not pander to it." Mom declared. I didn't even know if that strategy would work.
"It's not pandering Mom. It's campaigning." I explained. I had to do my best to act supportive.
"The people get to know the real Moira Queen and they are going to fall in love with you." Mark added.
"Speaking from experience, this man knows what he's talking about." Malcolm quipped.
They started to go over some things while I got ready to go to school. I knew that there would be a lot of challenges to her winning. I also knew that at some point, I would have to apologize to Sebastian for no longer being able to be involved in his campaign. It was a good thing that I wasn't able to vote because it meant that I wouldn't have to split my loyalties. I wouldn't turn 18 until after everything went down. I have to make sure that it went better than last time.
"Well it looks like we're starting a campaign." Mom declared.
"Olivia, I need to have a word." Mark stated.
"Maybe you can give me a ride to school and we can talk then." I quipped. Once again, no one laughed.
"I know that you're friends, but you're going to need to end your support for Sebastian Blood." He told me.
"I'll talk to him." I promised.
I then saw Tommy answer a phone call.
"What?" He replied.
So instead of school, I ended up going to the hospital. The two of us headed into a room where Dinah was with her parents. Dinah was in the bed.
"Olivia," The elder Dinah declared.
"Mrs. Lance." I replied as I gave her a hug. I knew that they weren't married anymore, but it was still the easiest way to address her.
"I came as soon as I heard." She remarked before she hugged Tommy as well.
"Thanks for coming." Quentin stated as he shook both of our hands.
"Hey. How are you feeling?" I asked.
"I've been better." Dinah answered.
"Don't worry baby. We're going to get all of the help you need. There's a great rehab place just outside of Star City. They've got a bed waiting for you…"
"Dad, I already told you. I didn't OD." Dinah argued. "I didn't take any pills last night. I swear."
"Ms. Lance, the doctor wants to check your eye." The nurse declared.
"What happened to her eye." Tommy asked as he looked over at the nurse in concern, The nurse explained it in terms that I was pretty sure that only Tommy understood.
"After the exam, we can discharge you." She added.
"You feel better. I need to get to school." I explained.
After school, I went the club where Sara was using my salmon ladder. I was glad that she was back in town, but it really wasn't the best time to tell her when she was on a bender.
"She's been doing it for like an hour." Iris explained. At that point, she hopped down and grabbed a towel.
"You saw Dinah. Is she going to be okay?" Sara asked.
"You saved her life." I told her.
"Hey, thanks for calling me." Sara declared. "And I never did ask you. How did you get my number?"
"I wasn't going to lose you again, so I tapped your phone." I explained. She didn't look surprised that I did it.
"I should get going." She remarked.
"So that's it?' You're back for 24 hours and then you're going to take off again?" I challenged.
"The League of Assassins is still after me, Livvy." She pointed out. "And staying in town put my whole family at risk. I only came back because Dinah was in trouble.
"She's still in trouble, Sara." I argued. Her problems weren't just going to magically be cured. "Your entire family needs you…and I need you too."
She looked a little distraught. I wasn't sure if she would listen, but I hoped that she would.
"Hey, Mia, can you get a copy of Dinah's bloodwork from the hospital?" I asked.
"Is there something in particular you want me to look for?" Mia responded. However, before I could answer, the Arrow phone went off. It was Quentin.
"Hello Detective." I greeted him. I was pretty sure that I knew why he was calling.
"Put Sara on the phone." He requested. Sara shook her head. "I know she's there."
I knew that it was around the same time that Sara was supposed to reveal that she was alive. There would be a lot of fanfare, even though there wouldn't be as much as when it was discovered that I was alive. Even though Robert had never been officially charge with her murder, it meant any potential charge would be downgraded to attempted murder, though once again this was not going to happen. I couldn't even be sure if he was dead or not.
From there, I arranged for Sara to go to a restaurant to meet him. I would be watching close by because I needed to make sure that the place was safe. I knew that at the moment, only one member of the League was after her, but I didn't know if Nyssa would look the same or not. All of this was very complicated and I understood Sara's conflicts but I knew it was imperative that she stayed in Star City. Maybe I would be able to prevent her from leaving and more importantly, prevent her from dying. Even though she had been brought back, we could save a lot of trouble if she wasn't killed. I was also pretty sure that Quentin was trying to tell her the same thing that I was. She needed to stay and we would be able to work things out.
After she left, Sara went out and that was when I saw her. She looked younger than before. I raised my bow just in case, but just like I thought, she didn't mean Sara any harm. She went over and kissed her. I knew that it was voyeuristic, but I couldn't really look away.
"I've had better greetings." Nyssa remarked.
"I'm sorry. I just wasn't sure what you were to go to do." Sara apologized.
"To be honest, I didn't either." Nyssa responded. Her voice sounded so sweet. It would be a little hard to believe that she was a deadly killer, but I supposed that made her even more deadly.
"We should talk." Sara declared.
"Of course, but do you need permission from your girlfriend first?" Nyssa asked before she looked back at me. "I am Nyssa, daughter of Ra's al-Ghul, heir to the demon."
"What are you doing here?" I questioned. I wasn't going to draw my weapon because I didn't want things to get violent.
"Sara swore her allegiance to the League of Assassins. It's time for her to return home." Nyssa declared.
"That is not going to happen." I declared. "She is home."
She looked like was prepared to attack before Sara stopped her.
"Nyssa, can you please give us a moment?" Sara requested.
"Take your time. Goodbyes are never easy. Is that why I didn't get one?" Nyssa asked. I was pretty sure that she was hurt by Sara leaving her. She then walked to the side, but not far enough that she couldn't hear what we were saying.
"I can explain." Sara remarked.
"You don't have to explain anything to me. We were never together." I pointed out. "But you're not leaving. I don't trust her."
I still had a feeling that Nyssa would do the right thing in the end, but I also knew that she was very dangerous and she couldn't be trusted. She probably was still good for Sara in a weird way. I also didn't know that if I would enter a relationship with Sara this time around.
"Then trust me." Sara instructed.
One thing that I knew in regards to the election was that I didn't have to worry about my parentage being revealed because it was already out there. It also meant that there wouldn't be any problems with the campaign. That didn't mean that there weren't other secrets that could be used against her. I didn't doubt that Slade or whoever had dug up some other things. My family had a lot of secrets and one of them was Emiko because that hadn't actually come up in the trial. Another thing that I knew could come up was my affiliation with the Bratva, but I didn't know if that would be easy to find out.
I decided to talk to her at the club.
"So there's something that you need to know." I declared. "With my mom running for mayor, it's possible that it could come out who your father is."
"I know. I'm honestly surprised that it didn't come out during the trial." Emiko noted.
"Well people will probably figure out the payments that my mother continued to make your mother even after the accident. My mom is probably going to have to address it."
"Well I'm ready for it." She stated. "But I do have a question for you. It's about Artemis."
"What about her?" I responded. I was a little bit surprised that that was where the conversation went.
"I'm just surprised that she managed to come back so quickly and the two of you looked awfully close when you were putting her back in the system. Olivia, I know that you and Courtney are broken up but it's probably not a good idea for you to date another one of your employees." She declared. Okay, that was not where I expected the conversation to go.
"Artemis and I aren't dating. She's just a friend." I explained. Artemis wasn't even the main person on my mind. I would tell have to tell her about Sara though, but I wanted to make sure that I convinced Sara to remain in town first. Such a thing would also have to involve Sara convincing Nyssa to release her from the League. It was a complicated situation and I knew that it would have to be treated delicately because one wrong move could lead to people dying and none of us wanted that.
"I'm not entirely sure if I believe that, but if you say so." She declared. "The other question I have is that you've been a big supporter of Sebastian Blood's campaign."
"That's not a question." I pointed out.
"Okay, Smart Alec. What I'm trying to say is are you going to end your support for him now that your mom is running?" She asked.
"I will." I replied. "If I tell you something, do you promise not to tell my mom about it?"
"It depends on what it is." She stated. I just gave her a look because I needed a real answer. "Sure."
"I still think that Sebastian would be a better mayor, but I can't vote so it doesn't even matter." I answered.
"Yeah, it's definitely a good thing that you can't vote." She agreed with a smile. "I don't know any of your mom's positions, but I think that I might agree with you."
"Now I need to go out." I declared.
I needed to get back to Nyssa and Sara to make sure that Nyssa was not able to convince Sara to leave. Yes, it would solve some problems, but it would also create a bunch of others. One of the main issues was that Sara was not willing to keep killing innocent people. If the League only eliminated bad people, I would have nowhere near as much of a problem with them. I also knew that if Sara didn't die, I wouldn't have to do anything to take them down.
I knew that it wasn't a great idea to spy on her, but I had to say that I was relieved when Nyssa walked away. I didn't want to confront about it because I didn't want her to know that I had been spying on her, even though I was pretty sure that she wouldn't be surprised that I was. I did manage to make it back to the club before she got there at least.
"The league is never going to let me go. At least if I'm halfway around the world, I can keep my family safe." Sara declared as she walked in.
"Yeah, that's not the guarantee that you think it is." Mia remarked as she came out with a file. "I just got a copy of Dinah's bloodwork from the hospital. She tested negative for drugs and the amount of alcohol was not a toxic level."
"Then why did she collapse?" Sara inquired.
"Because she had traces of snake venom in her blood." Mia remarked. "It was from the Tibetan pit viper."
"So that means that Dinah didn't OD and didn't have alcohol poisoning." Courtney pointed out. Well I was beginning to think that the alcohol she drank had been poisoned, but she didn't have alcohol poisoning in a traditional sense."
"I think Nyssa might have poisoned her to draw you back here. The League knows who your family are and they're not going to be safe while you're on the run from them." I explained.
"I can't believe that she would do that." Sara remarked.
"Sometimes people do crazy things when they're in love." I pointed out.
"Love?" Iris and Courtney both said at the same time.
"Nyssa and I were in a relationship when I was in the League." Sara remarked. There was one thing that I wondered about the two of them of them, but I knew it was something that I didn't need to know about. What the two of them had done when they were in Nanda Parbat was really none of my business and it was probably perverted for me to think of that. I didn't even want to ask Sara about it.
"So anyway, I think it would be safe to assume that the League has other operatives in Star City." I declared. "There could be someone in the precinct or the hospital or literally anywhere. Your family is not safe and we're going to have to deal with this one way or another. Sara, I know this is something that you might not want to hear, but we might to kill Nyssa."
"If that's what has to be done to keep my family safe, then that's what we have to do." Sara declared. I was pretty sure that it wouldn't be that easy for her. "Let's go to the hospital."
I went to the hospital with Sara. I didn't want to attract a lot of attention, so I had Courtney and Mia stay behind. I would probably need their help later though. We did find them putting Sara's mother into a van and we started to follow after it. Sara let out of a scream causing the glass to break. At that point, Nyssa started to shoot at us, but I was great at dodging.
Sara got on top of the van, but to my surprise, Nyssa fired some arrows at her. I wasn't sure if she was trying to hit her, but I was definitely sure that she wasn't shooting to kill. Sara then tried to open the door but she was unsuccessful and the van got away and Sara let out a scream of agony. I had to the earplugs out because they weren't able to help with something that loud.
From there, the two of us went to meet Quentin and I knew that it would be a very difficult conversation.
"Dad, it's my fault. I'm sorry." Sara apologized.
"This assassin's group that you're a part of, they took your mother." Quentin said. It wasn't a question. It was a statement because they already knew it was true.
"Not exactly." Sara replied.
"Then what exactly?" He asked.
"A woman…well girl…Nyssa. She's a powerful figure in the League and she poisoned Dinah. She took Mom." Sara explained. I knew that this was going to be hard for her. One thing that I realized was that this world seemed to be more accepting of gay rights. Of course, even in my world, gay marriage had been legal in Star City basically since I had come back.
"To get you to come back to the League?" He asked.
"Well, yes, but mostly because she wanted me back." Sara explained.
"Oh." Quentin remarked in surprise before Sara's phone rang.
"Nyssa, don't do this." Sara begged. I couldn't hear what she was saying, but I was pretty sure that it was threatening. "You don't want to hurt my mom. We have 24 hours."
"Detective, we'll find her." I promised.
"Okay, Dinah is inside and she's losing her mind. I gotta go. Keep me updated." Quentin instructed before he had back inside. From there, the two of us headed back to the club.
"Do you we have a lead on Sara's mom?" I asked once we got inside.
"We've been researching the venom that was used on Dinah." Courtney explained.
"Fortunately, Tibetan pit viper venom is surprisingly difficult to transport. It starts losing its potency the moment it leaves the fangs." Iris explained.
"So that means it had to be bought locally." Sara remarked.
"Nope, it was stolen." Mia explained.
"The best place to get it would probably be from an actual viper." I stated. "There was a break-in at the zoo, but since nothing was stolen, the cops wrote it off as some stupid kids."
"I found some footage from the break-in." Mia declared. "It looks like they have a rental car and the address is in the Glades."
"Call your dad." I told Sara.
At that point, I got a call from Sebastian. I was supposed to talk to him in person, but I didn't get the chance.
"Sebastian, I'm so sorry that I stood you up again." I told him.
"Look, I know you have to pull your support for my campaign. Blood is thicker than politics and it should be." He said.
"Thank you for understanding. And I hope that this doesn't affect our friendship." I declared. "It's important to me."
"And me." He responded before he hung up.
I then went to meet them, but I would let the two of them converse first. I was wearing a listening device so I could hear them.
"So how did you and the Arrow meet anywhere?" Quentin asked.
"Vigilante club." Sara quipped.
"You're still the same. Well not exactly the same." He retorted. I was glad that he was willing to accept that he had changed.
"I loved her, Dad. Are you upset?" Sara asked.
"Honestly, Sara, with all that you've been through these past six years: the pain, the loneliness. I'm just happy to hear that you had someone to care for you." He admitted. I smiled at that. Quentin really was a good dad.
At that point, another assassin popped up and Courtney, Mia and I came out. We were able to fight him off and Sara was able to hold him while Quentin pointed his gun at him.
"Tell me where my wife is!" Quentin demanded as the man spoke Arabic. "What's he saying?"
"He's praying." Sara declared. At that point, he broke free and drank some poison before he fell over dead. "Damn it."
The next day I was at my mother's campaign announcement. I was wearing a rose gold off-shoulder dress. I just hoped that everything would be okay. I had Iris and Courtney with me.
"How's Sara holding up?" Iris asked.
"Not well and I need you to pick up the trail on Nyssa because Mrs. Lance is running out of time." I pointed out
"I'm on it." Iris declared before she left to do that I assumed.
At that point, My mom, Malcolm and Thea came up to us and my mom hugged me.
"Olivia." She greeted me. "Courtney? I thought you broke up."
"We're still friends." I pointed out.
"I haven't been this nervous since my wedding day." Mom declared before looking at Malcolm. "Either of them."
"Moira, it's time." Mark declared. "Olivia, are you ready to introduce your mother?"
Apparently, my endorsement was my important than Thea's or Malcolm's despite the fact that both of them could vote and that both of them were important CEOs. I would still do it though because I knew it was important.
"With pride." I declared.
She then went up and I noticed Courtney looked nervous.
"Courtney? What's wrong and don't say nothing because I know when you're lying to me." I stated.
"Okay, so my mom is great and Pat's been a really great dad, but I still wonder about my real dad. He left me when I was young and I miss him even though I've never really known him." She explained. This was the first that I had ever heard about her dad. I was thought that she was dead. I did think it was a bit odd that I was finding out about it now.
"You know I could probably help you find him if you want." I offered.
"I don't know if I do." She admitted. "Part of me doesn't want to know why he left."
"I'll find him for you." I promised. "But this is going to take a back seat to this stuff with Sara. I promise you that I will personally find him."
I knew that there was a possibility that I wouldn't like what I found, but I could tell that it was important to Courtney and even though she wasn't my girlfriend anymore, she was still my friend and I cared about her a lot.
I was also nervous about the speech that I had to give. I didn't want anyone to think that my loyalties were split, even though they were. It was hard for me to do some of the things that I was going to do. I did think that my mom could be a good mayor and maybe I could talk to her about some of her more conservative policies. We needed to do what was right for the people of the city and not just the wealthy. However, the first thing that happened was Malcolm was going to introduce her. I was just going to go last.
"I saw this with a lot of confidence and pride. She is a loving mother and wife who has raised two wonderful daughters, including one that I share with her." Malcolm declared. "I'd like to welcome that daughter right now. She's a fine businesswoman herself and has done wonders for the Glades. Please welcome, Olivia Queen."
I walked up to the podium and I couldn't help but feel a little bit nervous, but those nerves could be attributed to stage fright.
"Thank you…Dad." I told him. I was still getting used to calling him that. "I'm hear today to say a few words about Moira Queen. I bet a lot of you think that you her because you read about her in the press, or because you saw her on TV, but I can promise you that you don't know my mom. You don't know her like I do. She's amazing woman and she will be an amazing mayor. She stands to help the people of Star City recover from this immeasurable tragedy. Ladies and Gentleman, my mother, Moira Queen."
I then gave her a hug as she started her speech.
"Olivia, we have a problem." Iris told me.
It turned out that Sara had gone off on her own to meet Nyssa, like I was pretty sure that she would. I knew that she was trying to minimize casualties, but she didn't seem to realize how much could go wrong. I knew what Sara's plan was and it wasn't very smart, but it had been successful the first time. I would have to get to her to stop anything from going wrong. Fortunately, I did know where to meet her.
"Do you think that she's going to kill Nyssa?" Courtney asked. No, it was worse than that, but I also had to consider that possibility as well.
"Activate her tracker." I told Mia.
"Why did you put a tracker on her?" Courtney responded.
"Because she has a bad habit of disappearing on us." I replied.
"I don't mean to sound cold but why do we care if Sara kills a dangerous assassin." Iris asked.
"Because her father is even worse and we do not want to deal with him." I pointed out. "The only reason that Sara is still alive is because of Nyssa and she dies, then Sara is a goner."
I grabbed my bow and also a syringe because I was pretty sure that I would need it. It was a good thing that I got there when I did because I was able to able to stop Nyssa stop from stabbing Sara's mother.
At that point, we started to exchange arrows. Nyssa was probably the one who was most like me. We were both warriors who had been turned into weapons. The difference was Nyssa's allegiance to her father was blind despite him being a bad person. She hit me and I then hit her. I then pulled the arrow out of me.
"Nyssa, I can still save her. I can heal her." I declared.
"Worry more about saving yourself." She retaliated.
We then started to fight hand-to-hand and I had the advantage over her. I had her in a chokehold.
"Don't kill her. Please," Sara begged. She could barely stand because she fell over immediately after saying it.
"Sara?" I asked in confusion as I left go and took out the syringe. I knew that it would work, I stabbed into myself to fill it before putting it into her neck. After a few seconds, she awoke and I was I glad. I was glad that I wasn't going to lose her for a fourth time.
I then noticed that she was looking at Nyssa.
"No more killing." Sara begged with tears in her eyes. "Please don't make me kill anyone else."
It was then that I noticed that Nyssa was crying as well.
"Sara Lance, in the name of Ra's al-Ghul, I release you." Nyssa declared. I knew that it had to be hard for Nyssa, but I was thankful that she had chosen to do the right thing."
At that point, I heard the sirens and I knew that I had to go. Nyssa, of course, was not going to let them arrest her, so she left as well.
When I got home, I found that Mom and Malcolm were watching the news recapping new mayoral bid announcement. Of course, that wasn't the biggest story of the day. The biggest story was Sara was alive. I always heard that whatever news there was could be sidelined by something about a cute white girl and I was pretty sure that was true.
One thing that I was glad was that there wasn't a big revelation that could wreck my relationship with my mother, but I supposed that there was still something that I needed to know from her.
"You know there is something that I want to know." I told them. "Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that I know the truth, but I can't help but wonder if you were ever going to tell me on your own."
"That's something that was complicated, Olivia." Mom stated.
"Was it? Maybe not when I just came back, but a few months after? You two were together and I thought that Robert was dead. You don't know how much it hurt to hear from him as opposed to either of you." I declared.
"I'm sorry." Malcolm declared. "I know that we can't change how you found out. You know when I heard about the Gambit, I wanted to kill Robert for what he did to you and I wanted to kill myself too, but I kept a picture of you because I wanted to keep fighting and if there was a small chance that you were still alive, I wanted to be able to be your father someday."
At that point he hugged me and I noticed Tommy was still there.
"Hey. I thought that you would be back with Dinah." I told him.
"I think it would be best if she spends this time with her family for right now." Tommy declared. "I know it's going to be weird with Sara back, but I think we can make the adjustment and I hope that it can help her."
If it was anything like it was before, Sara being there was only going to make things worse, at least in the short term. She needed to stop blaming everyone else for her own problems.
That night I was working out in the club. It was a slow night, both at the club and in the city, so I could just have some time to myself. However, it soon found that it wasn't just me when Sara walked down. I put on my coat.
"It's looks like you've been crying." I commented.
"I'm glad to know that I still can." She replied. "You saved my life."
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Well Dinah really isn't as thrilled to see me as you thought. She kicked me out." She told me.
"Give her time." I instructed before I started punching again.
"I gave her six years." She retorted. "What's got you so worked up?"
"Even though I've forgiven my mom and Malcolm for not telling me the truth, I'm still mad at them" I explained.
"Well seems like we both have family issues." She declared.
"So what are you going to do now?" I asked.
"I don't know, but I'm probably not going to be going to school with you." She quipped. She probably would have liked it if she gave it a chance. "But I do know one thing."
"What's that?" I questioned.
"I'm home." She declared before she kissed me.
So Nyssa made her first appearance. She's played by Mary Mouser. Also Sara and Olivia kissed and Olivia is going to help Courtney find her father. Please don't forget to review.
