As the showcasing continued, knights from different kingdoms stepped forward to showcase swordsmanship. A tall but skinny knight from the rose kingdom won over a knight from an unnamed Kingdom. Next up was a knight from Twinkle Town vs Turbish. The Twinkle town knight was much older than turbish but didn't stand down. Turbish and the older twinkle town knight closed the visors to their helmets, raised their wooden swords, and charged at each other. It's safe to say that the whole fight itself was a bore to the crowd. Turbish and the Older Twinkle town knight battle didn't excite the crowd. By the end, the twinkle town knight was victorious. A few people applauded the contest while the others stayed quiet. The next showcasing was between a Rose Kingdom knight and an unnamed Garrison Kingdom knight. The Victor of this fight was the knight from the Garrison Kingdom.
So far, the bouts were average. Many people in the crowd weren't paying much attention to the sword fights. Most of the sword battles ended within minutes and were all pretty bland.
Then, it was Koga and Timitohy who stepped into the ring.
Everyone who was disinterested in the final showcasing placed their eyes on Koga and Timothy. Tavish, who hadn't been paying attention to much of the showcasing and was too busy dealing with Annable to care, had finally brought his full attention to the contest.
"WOOOO, KOGA!" Bean cheered. "KNOCK HIS NOSE BACK INTO PLACE!"
Annable snaps a glare at Bean and then gets to her feet. "DESTROY HIM. DON'T YOU DARE EMBARRASS OUR KINGDOM TIMOTHY!" She shrieked.
Koga picks at his ears with his pinkie finger. "She's worse than Zog when it comes to being loud and obnoxious, right?" He stared at Timothy. Timothy narrowed his eyes. Koga grins, "You're not much of a talker, huh? I can respect that." Koga grips his wooden sword.
Timothy held up his wooden sword at Koga. Koga holds his wooden sword with both hands. Everyone in the crowd could feel the tension. Their eyes were glued to the two knights as they stared at each other.
Koga made the first move and dashed forward, kicking dust behind him. He slashed downward at Timothy. Timothy grits his teeth while blocking Koga's slash and is shocked by his overwhelming strength. The two held on to the power struggle before breaking away and swinging their wooden swords at each other. Koga was pushing Timothy back, placing him on the defensive. Koga could see how overwhelmed Timothy was and processed putting pressure on him. All he needed was one good strike to end him. Koga's eagerness got the best of him once he went in for the last strike, but Timothy parried Koga's attack and used his momentum against him, causing Koga to lose his bearings. Timothy swung his sword, and so did Koga. Their wooden swords collided, and then, CRACK! The force of their collusion had broken their wooden swords.
The crowd gasped at the result. Koga and Timothy looked at their wooden swords and dropped to the ground. The crowd broke into a round of applause. The Judge stepped forward, clapping his hands excitedly, and stood beside Koga and Timothy. "PHENOMENAL! THAT WAS PHENOMENAL!" He bleated. "That was the best showcasing of skill between two knights shown at this festival! Everyone, please give another round of-"
"Oh will you shut up," Koga snapped. The Judge went silent and looked taken aback. Koga looks at Timothy. "That was not satisfying at all. Using fake swords is boring as hell…."
"EXACTLY!" said Luci from the crowd.
"Anyway," Koga continued. "I want a real duel with you. Not using crap wooden swords."
"Wait, what?" said The Judge, eyes widening with shock
Timothy grunts. "Fine by me…"
"Now see here!" said The Judge, "You just can't go making decisions like that. It isn't a part of the festival!"
"Oh, screw the festival," said Koga turning around and walking out of the ring to retrieve his short sword. He grabs another sword from a guard and tosses it over to Timothy. Timothy catches the sword and withdraws it from the sheath.
"Stop! I said-"
"Let them be!" said Zog, standing up from his seat. "If these two wanna use real swords, then let 'em!"
"I agree with King Zog," said Ewan. "This is a showcasing of Knights, after all. Let them do as they please."
"I-well if the kings allow it then…..COMMENSE WITH THE DUEL!"
The crowd cheered as both Koga and Timothy grip onto their swords, and just like before, they had a stare-down. The audience grew silent as they watched the two warriors in anticipation. Then the two rushed forward. They swung their blades, and a loud clanging noise went off. Timothy swung his sword at Koga's neck, missing it right as Koga leaned back to counter with a strike right at his chest, which sent Timothy a few feet back as he blocked it. The force of Koga's swing were felt on the palm of Timothy's hand. Koga wasn't letting up. He went after Timothy, and he thrust his sword at him. Timothy uses the momentum to counter Koga, causing him to fall forward. Timothy saw this as an opportunity to defeat Koga right then and there. Timothy swings his sword. With one hand, Koga places his left hand on the ground and bounces off the soil to dodge Timothy's swing. While in the air, Koga performed three front flip spins and brought the sword down onto Timothy. Timothy held up his sword to block, but Koga's momentum was too much for the blade to handle. A large dust cloud kicked up as Koga and Timothy collided. Everyone watched as the dust settled, and Koga and Timothy came back into view. Koga's blade was inches away from Timothy's neck. The crowd watched in silence as they anticipated what would happen next.
Timothy stared at Koga, and a smile formed. "You live up to your name. I was no match for you, Koga the Wanderer," He said in a satisfied tone. "Your swordsmanship is excellent."
"I can say the same for you, too," said Koga, rising and extending his hand to Timothy. Timothy reaches out and accepts Koga's hand.
The stadium broke into a round of applause. Everyone viewing the dual stood on their feet for both Koga and Timothy. The Judge stepped forward, clapping his hands excitedly, just like before. "AMAZING! THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE THAT INCREDIBLE DISPLAY OF SKILL!"
Bean and Elfo were all cheering for Koga; Luci mainly cheered for the gold he would get for betting he was doing throughout the festival; Annable expressed anger as she watched her knight shake Koga's hand. She looks over at Tavish, who is clapping his hands with a genuine smile. She pouts, crosses her arms and looks away.
As the festival ended, it was time for all the Kings, Queens and royals to depart from Dreamland. Knights who formed respect for one another had said their goodbyes.
Bertram stepped forward and shook Tavish's hand. "It was a pleasure to see you again, my dear friend. Please do write to me when you get the chance!" He said, smiling. Tavish gave an awkward smile to the son of the Duke of twinkle town and replied, "Don't worry, I'll make sure that's the first thing I do when I get the chance!" Tavish lied.
"Tavvy!" said Annable.
Tavish turned around, and Annable pulled him into a kiss. She breaks away and winks at him. "I hope you'll be writing to me too, will you?"
"I…uh…sure…" Tavish said, forcing a smile at her.
"Prince Tavish," said King Ewan. "May I have a word with you if you have the time?"
"King Ewan? Oh, uh, sure, of course." Tavish nods in agreement as he walks off with King Ewan.
Bean, Elfo and Luci were all watching as the Kings, Queens and Royal's all started to leave. "Man, I'm glad this is over," said Bean, sighing.
"Did you make any friends, Bean?" Elfo asked. Bean looks at Elfo and raises a brow, "Hell no, of course not!"
"It doesn't matter who made friends. All I know is that Luci is rich!" said Luci, laughing as he patted his bag of gold. Koga walked over and grabbed a bag from Luci. "Hey, man! That's mine!"
"Excuse me?" said Koga, looking down at Luci. "Last I checked, I'm the one who one the last showcase, so I deserve a cut for myself."
"He's got a point, Luci," said Elfo, grinning at him. Luci grumbled under his breath.
"So, Koga, did you have fun?" asked Bean.
"It was alright," Koga shrugged. "I still think stuff like this is a waste of time." Koga looks over at Timothy, who mounted his horse. Koga would nod to him, and Timothy would nod back. "But it was nice seeing some other knights worth a damn."
"Koga!" Pendergast called out to him. "Are you going to join us for the celebration? I'm making a new batch of pudding!"
"PUDDING!" Koga shouted as he sprinted off.
"And there he goes…" said Bean, smiling a bit. Her attention was now placed on her brother shaking hands with King Ewan. The King of the garrison boarded his carriage with his queen and daughters, and they were gone. Bean would initially roll her eyes at this, but once Tavish turned around, he looked exhausted. Zog would walk over to his son and pat him on the back. The two would head back into the castle.
Bean would let out a hopeless sigh. Elfo looks at Bean and asks, "What's wrong Bean?"
Bean would shake her head. "Nothing," She replied softly. "Come on, let's go join the guys Party. I need a drink."
And thus ends the Seventh Annual Knights Festival.
