Disenchantment Sagas Chapter 53 – Demon Time Part 1
It was a regular, and quiet night in the town of lawnchester. It is a town that never has any weird or unorthodox experiences. Besides Dreamland, Lawnchester is known for being one of the holiest towns. Lawnchester holds one of the most prominent churches, Saint Nini's El-b-ow's church. A place where many worship god, served by the town's best nuns. The church nuns were finishing their work and preparing for the next day. The Reverend Mother, Ella, gowned in her black-and-white habit, grey hair and wrinkles around her eyes, looks around the room at the other nuns. She noticed that one was missing.
"Where is sister Rosie?" She asked as she scanned the room once more. The rest of the nuns looked at each other to see if they had an answer. One nun would step forward from the other room. One nun would appear from the other room. "She went upstairs twenty minutes ago to fetch some ingredients. But she never came back down," She explained. Ella would bore a worried expression. "Oh dear, I hope she's alright. You all stay down here and finish up. I'll go fetch her." The other nuns continued cleaning while Ella grabbed a candlelight and headed upstairs. The candlelight mildly lights up the dark stone hallways of the church. Most of the nuns hated walking the stone hallways by themselves. But to Ella, it didn't scare her. She is a woman of faith and knows that the lord will be with her whatever lurks in the dark.
"Ella…"
Ella turns around with her candlelight. The light shines on nothing. Ella would look forward and see a shadow disappear out of the corner of her eye. Her heart begins beating. She grabs onto her cross necklace, breathes in, breathes out, and continues down the hallway. "Rosie?" She calls out. "Rosie dear, are you ok?" She walks to the room where all the ingredients are stored and sees the door halfway open. Ella walks to the door and opens it. She shines the candlelight into the room and sees Rosie standing by herself. "Rosie? Are you ok?" She steps forward, holds out her hand and touches her shoulder. Rosie slowly turns around and-
"Hi, Revernand Ella!" said Rosie, her hazel eyes met Ella's brown eyes.
"Rosie, you've been up here for twenty minutes! Is everything ok?"
"Oh yes, everything's fine. I'm up here looking for some items and getting possessed by a demon!"
"Oh, ok then-Wait what?"
Rosie's eyes turned black, and she let out a shrieking laugh that made Ella drop her candle and let out a frightful scream that echoed through the church. The nuns downstairs hurried to where Ella was, and they all gasped as they saw Rosie let out demonic laughter that resulted in her coughing violently. "ACK! ACK!" She hawks and spits on the ground.
"Eligor, that's nasty…" said a demon named Pazuzu, popping his head out from the shadows. The demon's horns were inverted, and he had black hair that covered some of his face and curvy lower body. The nuns let out another frightful scream as they hurried away from Pazuzu. Pazuzu rolls his eyes. "Oh please, you think I look terrifying? Look at what you all are wearing."
"DEMONS! OH LORD HELP US!" Ella cried as she clenched on her cross necklace.
"Lord? There is no lord here…" said a booming voice. A firey circle would appear before the nuns, and a tall demon with long horns, glowing red eyes, and long wings would show himself. "Only HELL!MUHAHAHAHAHAHAH!"
"Ugh…" Pazuzu scoffed. "Really Fuscu?"
Fuscu stops laughing. "What?" He glared at him.
"Are you going to open up with that again? Don't you have any new ideas?"
"I don't need new ideas! If it's not broken, don't fix it!"
"There's only so many times that you can appear out of a firey circle before it gets boring to see," said Pazuzu, flipping his hair.
"It might not be new to you! But it's new to them!" Fuscu points at the nuns.
"Mhmm…" Pazuzu looks away.
"Don't mhmm me! You ruined the whole bit with your nagging!" Fuscu yelled.
"I don't nag, I tell the truth,"
Rosie groans. "You two always do this," She shakes her head. Her eyes would widen, and she would hold her stomach in pain. Rosie would puke out a black substance that took shape onto the floor. The demon was as tall as Fuscu and Pazuzu. He had large wings on his back and five-inch horns. "You're an old married couple!" said the demon, Eligor.
"Oh please, he could never put a ring on this finger," said Pazuzu, flipping his hair again.
"Oh, shut up!" said Fuscu angrily.
"BEGON DEMONS!" Ella screamed, holding a cross in her hand. "THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELL'S YOU!" She tosses the cross at Fuscu and whacks him in the head.
"OW! GODDAMN IT!" Fuscu rubs his head.
"It's funny they think their god has any power over anything," said Eligor, smirking.
"Oh, it is so funny," Pazuzu lets out a smooth chuckle.
"My face still hurts!" said Fuscu. "You humans will pay for that…" He takes a deep breath and breathes fire at the nuns. The nuns run out of the room, screaming at the top of their lungs. "That's right, you better run!" He runs out of the room, shaking his fist at them.
"You sure showed them Fuscu…so tough," said Pazuzu.
"Why thank you, Pazuzu…your support means so much to me…" Fuscu looks at him. "I'm being sarcastic, by the way…"
"Mhmm…"
"Stop saying, mhmm! The way you do it is so annoying!" Fuscu shouts.
"Are we done here? I'm hungry," said Eligor.
Puzuzu's stomach growls. "Now that you mention it…I could go for a bite to eat. I smelled some chickens a few miles away. We can grab a bit to eat there."
"You won't live to feast on chickens!"
The three demons looked forward. A tall, thin man with wavy grey hair on the back of his head and bags under his eyes would step forward with a torch light. He wore a long red and black tunic and carried a long wooden stick. A frowning man accompanied him. He wore a long brown tunic and had a patch of black hair on his head. "I've finally corned you three! At last, I will finally rid you three of this world!" said Big Jo.
The three demons would collectively groan in annoyance. "How do you keep finding us?!" said Fuscu.
"We were miles and miles away from you!" said Eligor.
"Can you blame them? I do play hard to get at times," said Pazuzu.
Big Jo took a step forward. "You can never escape me. I will chase you three to the ends of the earth!"
"Oooh…so determined..." said Puzuzu, grinning and fluttering his eyes at Big Jo.
"We would love to stay and chat about how you're going to exorcise us, but we're hungry, and we don't feel like looking at your old wrinkly ass!" said Fuscu.
"I'm not even that old! I'm 36!" said Big Jo.
The three demons jaw's just dropped. "DAAAAMN!" They gasped.
"SILENCE!" Big Jo shouts as he reaches into his bag and pulls out a large jar. "Since the three of you are inseparable. I thought having you all in one jar would be nice!"
"Aww…that's so thoughtful of you!" Pazuzu gushed.
"NOW GET INTO THE JAR!" Big Jo shouted as he and Porky stepped forward.
Fuscu, Eligor and Pazuzu would sprout their wings and zoom past Big Jo and Porky, causing them to fall over. The laughter of the demons echoed into the night. "Damn it, porky, you let them get away! Your work performance is slipping! Not that you had any to begin with!"
Porky would just blankly stare at Big Jo.
Fuscu, Eligor and Pazuzu found themselves at a farm. Each had a row of chickens lined for them to feast on. Eligor would pick up a chicken that furiously flapped its wings as he consumed the chicken whole. He would let out a loud burp that made multiple feathers fly out of his mouth.
"Ew," said Pazuzu.
"What do you mean, ew?" said Eligor, looking at Pazuzu. "At least none of the chickens I eat go to my thighs."
"You wish you had thighs like me," Pazuzu said, flipping his hair.
"No, I don't," Eligor replied while consuming another chicken. "By the way, why don't we just kill that old bastard? Why do we keep leaving him alive?"
"Because it's fun," said Fuscu. "He keeps us on our toes and makes things interesting."
"Suuure…" said Pazuzu. "If you think getting chased by some old abusive exorcist with his stoic side-kick is fun."
"Exactly!" said Eligor, his voice suddenly raspy. "We must end his life now! And send him to the fiery pits of the underworld!"
"Oh my god, Eligor, clear your throat!" said Pazuzu, cringing.
Eligor would cough, hack, and spit on the ground, making Pazuzu shiver. "But yeah, I hate him," He said, his voice now normal.
"You are disgusting," Pazuzu glared.
"Hey, I know humans who would drink what I just spit up!" Eligor glared back.
Fuscu started to tune out Pazuzu and Eligor's bickering. His eyes would fall on the sign in front of him. The moonlight above made it easier to read. The sign that pointed left read Bedrock Kingdom, and the other sign read Dreamland.
"Dreamland?" Fuscu whispered. "Hey, isn't Luci doing something in Dreamland?"
Eligor and Pazuzu would stop their bickering and look over at Fuscu. Pazuzu would say, "I think so. I heard from some other demons that he's doing something with a princess?" He looks at Eligor to see if he is right.
"Yeah, he should be in dreamland right now," Eligor replied.
Fuscu smiled deviously. "How about we pay him a visit? For old time's sake," Eligor and Pazuzu both grinned. The three of them sprout their wings and fly off toward Dreamland.
….
"Dear Freya…" said Koga, sitting in his bed in the knight barracks. Once he wrote those words on the parchment, he would pause and stare at it. He scrambles up the piece of parchment and starts over. "Dear Freya…" He whispered. He pauses, stares at the parchment, then crumbles it up. "UGH!" Koga groans.
"Hey, Koga!" said Elfo, stepping into the room. He looks down at all of the paper on the floor. "What's with all of the littering?"
"I'm trying to write a letter to Freya…" said Koga, as he crumbled up another piece of parchment and tossed it before Elfo.
Elfo picks up the paper and unscrambles it. He reads it, "Dear Freya," and sees nothing else. He picks up another piece of parchment that reads like the one before it. "Uhh Koga…you didn't even try with these," He looks at him as he begins writing. "You could've finished writing these. And also, terrible to waste paper."
Koga sighed. "I don't know what I'm doing…" He puts down the parchment. "I've never written a letter before…what the hell am I supposed to say?"
Elfo sits on the edge of Koga's bed. "Well, it's easy! Just put down how you feel on the paper!" He smiled.
"I don't know what to put down, Elfo. What do I say? What should I talk about? UGH!" Koga places his head back on the pillow. Koga stares at the ceiling. He blinked, and Luci stared back at him as he opened his eyes.
"You should tell her that Bean kissed you," said Luci. "I'm sure she'll love reading that part!"
Koga grabs Luci by his head and tosses him out of the room. Luci would reappear on the bed with a grin on his face. "Hey, I'm only trying to help! Write about the smooch!" He lets out a chuckle.
"Luci, this isn't the time for your antics!" said Elfo, placing his fist on his hips and glaring at Luci. "Writing a letter to Freya is good practice for Koga to express his feelings! So please take this seriously!"
"You want me to take feelings seriously?" said Luci, sounding offended. "I'm a demon! I don't understand the concept of feelings or love. I only feel that type of joy when someone is in pain. Like so," He uses his tail to whack Elfo in the back of his head and knocks him off the bed. Elfo let out an "OW!" and Luci would laugh. "Hehehehe, see?"
"I GOT IT!" Koga suddenly shouts, holding up the piece of paper. "Check this out, Elfo!" He hands the paper to the elf. Elfo takes the piece of paper and reads it. "Dear Freya…Hi," He looked up at Koga, who was grinning happily at what he wrote. "Pretty good, huh?" the wanderer asked. Elfo shakes his head. "No, Koga…no," Koga lets out another frustrated groan. "All of this writing is making me hungry. I need a snack," He hops out of bed and walks out of the barracks. Elfo and Luci follow close behind.
Luci chuckles. "You know, maybe you should send that letter to Freya. I'm sure she'll be happy to see how much effort he's putting into not communicating with her properly,"
"You know Luci. You could at least show some support occasionally!" said Elfo. He turns around to face Luci, only to see that he disappeared. "Luci?" He looks around. "What the…where did he go?"
…
It was dark, and Luci felt utterly restrained. Everything happened so fast that he didn't have time to react or see who had captured him. Luci felt a rush of panic through his body. "H-Hey! Where am I? What's happening?"
"Don't worry…you're still In the castle…"
"W-wait a second…I know that snobby accent anywhere…"
Luci had found himself standing before Bean's older twin brother, Tavish. He removed the cloth that had shrouded him in darkness and found himself staring at Tavish through a glass bottle. "Oh, hey, male Bean!" Luci greeted him. "You know, if you wanted to spend time with the great Luci, all you had to do was ask. I could've fit you in my schedule,"
"Sorry, but on this occasion. You will make time for me," said Tavish, with his usual bland and straight-to-the-point tone.
Luci looked around Tavish's room. Tavish's room was much bigger than Beans. His bed looked like it had never been slept in, and his walls had four bookshelves lined together. "This room is the embodiment of a nerd. At least it doesn't smell like Bean's room. It suits you well!" He grinned at the Prince.
"Enough of your comments," said Tavish. "We need to talk…"
"Uh, yeah, we do. First off, why do you have me in a bottle?" Luci asked. His one eye formed a glare. He would then come to a sudden realization. "Ooooh, this is about the prank a few days ago, right? Look, I had no idea what Bean would do with that squirrel. I would've gone with the traditional scorpions in a bucket prank! It's a popular one to do in hell! Such a classic!"
"This has nothing to do with your childish prank," Tavish's face formed a scowl. "And the bottle ensures you don't run away."
"You sure? That squirrel looked like it had it out for you. Thankfully, you still have all the freckles on your cheek!"
Tavish growled. "Moving on," He grabs a chair and sits down. "I want to know more about you," He crosses his legs.
"More about me? Is this an interview or something?"
"You can think of it that way," The Prince nods.
"Wellll…since you asked. I grew up in a small home with one bedroom. It was a tough time, and the economy was sinking. Hell was beginning to freeze over. But that didn't stop me from being the best nanny I could. I always wanted to make a grand entrance and fly down from the skies with my umbrella."
Tavish stared at Luci. "Are you trying to use some fairy tale story as a cover-up?"
"It's an original story I'm working on. I haven't copyrighted it yet!"
"Intriguing," said Tavish. "I was wondering if you could tell me who sent you to my sister."
"What?"
"I said," Tavish glared at Luci and spoke slowly and menacingly. "Who-sent-you?"
Luci stuttered as he replied. "I don't know! I was just picked up and put in a-"
Tavish gets up from his seat, walks over to Luci, takes the quirk off the bottle and pours him onto the table. Luci looks up at Tavish. His blue eyes glared a hole through the demon. "So…you don't want to talk, do you?" He cracks his knuckles. "Then I'll make you…" Tavish holds out his hand, and a flash of black and green lightning strikes Luci. Luci lets out a yell of pain and vibrates as the lightning coursed through his body. Luci's mind went blank…and he stood there motionless. His eyes glowed a light shade of green.
"Now…let's see if that worked," Tavish clears his throat. "State your name."
"My name is Luci," said Luci, obediently.
"What are you, and where do you come from?"
"A demon born in hell…"
"Are you a good dancer?" The Prince asked, grinning.
"Yes…"
"Show me," He sits back down and crosses his legs.
Luci would begin dancing and bust the sickest dance moves he knows of. Tavish smiled with amusement as he watched. "Well, you certainly weren't lying about that," He softly claps. "Ok…enough of that, stop dancing."
Luci stops.
"Now…answer this truthfully…"
However, two individuals watched this scene unfold through a blazing green fire in a land far from Dreamland.
"Cloyd! He's going to get the demon to spill our secrets!" said Becky, panicking. She holds her hands and a black stream of lightning shoots from her fingers into the green blaze.
Luci was close to telling Tavish the truth when a black stream of lightning had engulfed his body. Tavish looked on in shock but quickly regained his composure and blasted Luci with his magic. Luci would yell in pain as two magic forces coursed through his body.
"Who the hell is doing this?!" Tavish shouts as Becky's magic tries to push him back. But Tavish wasn't back down. He regains his composure once more, and he begins to overwhelm Becky. Becky would scream as Tavish's magic overwhelmed her. "CLOYD YOU DUMB FOOL HELP ME!" She screamed. Cloyd holds out his arms, and magic shoots into the green flames from his hands. Luci screamed from the top of his lungs in pain. The power struggle began to overwhelm both sides till it was too much. The magic from Tavish, Cloyd and Becky erupts into an explosion that sends Tavish flying into his bookshelf, causing all his books to fall onto him. Becky and Cloyd were sent into the air, crashing into pots and tables.
"Cloyd, Becky?" said Jerry, stepping into the room. "Did you both slip and fall?"
"Shut up, Jerry…" The two said in unison.
Bean stepped into Tavish's room and coughed as the smoke from the explosion entered her throat. "W-What the hell happened in here?!" She waves the smoke out of her face.
Behind her was Bunty, who stepped into the room with a worried expression on her face. "Tavish! Oh good heaves are you ok?!" She moved the books off of him. "Are you hurt, deary?"
"Forget about him!" said Bean, coldly. "Where's Luci?!"
"Oooooooh…."
Bean looked forward and saw Luci lying on the ground. "LUCI!" she rushed forward, kneeled and picked him up. "Luci! Luci, please speak to me! Are you ok?!" She cradled him in her arms.
"My head…ugh, it's killing me..." Luci groaned.
Bean turned around and glared at Tavish. "What did you do to him?" She asked sternly.
With Bunty's help, Tavish gets to his feet and eyes his sister. "Someone sent that demon bean. I tried questioning him by-"
"By doing what? Blowing him up?!" She yelled. "Do you know how big that explosion was? It shook the whole castle!"
"Forget about that! You need to get rid of him Bean! We don't know where-"
"SHUT THE HELL UP!" Bean screamed. "Don't you ever, and I mean EVER, come near my friends again. If you do, you're going to regret it!" The two siblings stared at each other momentarily before Bean rushed past Tavish and Bunty and left the room.
Tavish held his head and gently placed his back against the bookshelf. Bunty held onto him and looked at him softly and motherly. "Tavish dear…you need to lie down. I'll clean up all of this."
"No…" Tavish held up his hand. "I'll clean it up…just go."
"But…Tavish, you're-"
"Leave…now…"
Bunty frowned. She dust off her aporon and heads for the door. She gave one last look at Tavish before she walked down the hall. Cloyd and Becky stared into the green flames and watched Tavish. "He's stronger than I imagined…" said Cloyd. "And he hardly trains his magic."
Becky pops her back. "Ugh…thankfully, I cast the binding spell on Luci. Even if Tavish gets a hold of him again…he won't talk."
"That's good," Cloyd sighed in relief. "Now that that's said and done, what will we do about them?" He waves his hands and shows the incoming demons of Fuscu, Eligor and Pazuzu.
"Nothing of course," said Becky. "However…" She stares into the green blaze.
"These demons might do more good than bad…"
