Poseidon could be seen looking out from Atlantis Palace to the whirlpool surrounding the area. Amphitrite looked at her husband watching the giant whirlpool surrounding their area. Too far from sight for a mortal but easily attainable for a God. She knew what happened but she allowed him the space to grieve even though they now had two children of their own, and Poseidon had found happiness. The Queen of the Sea knows how much Poseidon adored the children he sired. Every single one of them, even if some he got to spend more time with than others.
Poseidon is the God with the most children. He loves them, he adores being a father. But sadly, a few of his little ones were taken away from him way too soon.
He looks out to the chaotic current, sighing sadly.
Every child he lost was a pain he had trouble conquering. Whether said child had been a monster, a demigod, or an immortal. They all held a place in the Sea God's heart.
"I miss you, my daughter." He whispered into the current, hoping that one day, she might be able to feel the love he still held for her after all these years. "I'm so sorry my little one. Forgive me."
He left the balcony and went to the nest he shared with Amphitrite. As he laid down to sleep he tried to think of happier times, when she was still small.
….
"Lord Poseidon, the child has been born, a giantess." said one of the servants. They barely got time to finish their sentence that he was on his feet in an instant, his heart pounding in anticipation.
He was finally going to meet his child.
After so many years alone in the Sea, he finally was able to start building his own little family.
Gaea had given birth on an island not far away from the now Sicily. Poseidon traveled fast, crossing the seas with ease until he finally reached his destination. When he entered the small house, Gaea had already left, her part of the deal completed, leaving him alone with his very first creation.
The Sea God walked slowly towards the crib made of pure marble stone. He steadied himself as he placed a hand on the crib and bent down to take a look at his little one. Poseidon took a breath as he watched her. She was definitely a unique wasn't a goddess but a giantess.
The Sea God smiled down at the small little one he held in his strong arms. His first little one. A baby girl. With golden blond hair and tan skin. And his deep Sea Green eyes he was known for.
"Hello my little one," he said quietly as he reached down tentatively to rub at the baby giant's cheek gently. Her skin was smooth but tough to the touch. He then picked her up gently into his arms.
"You're beautiful." He whispered down at her as he rocked her gently against his bare chest, physical touch was his love language, so he thought that maybe Charybdis would respond well to it too. And he got confirmation of that when she yawned sleepily before cuddling closer to him.
Poseidon couldn't help but smile as her small hands reached out to him unconsciously. He adjusted his position so he made sure her little head was safely cradled in the crook of his arm.
He was completely enamored by her. He didn't know why but he felt like she was the most precious thing in the world at this moment and he would do anything for her.
Gaea had allowed him to choose her name, considering he would be the one to raise and take care of her primarily. Poseidon had thought long about it before he met her, and he found a name that felt right.
Embodying both the Earth and the Sea.
"Charybdis." He whispered and the baby stirred slightly at the name. She opened her eyes finally and Poseidon almost gasped as he saw that she had his eyes. A deep Sea green.
She gave him a gummy smile and tried to grab his hand, her grip was strong for a newborn. He chuckled softly. His heart was full of love already and he had met her a few minutes ago.
"My little one." He said softly as he kissed her warm little forehead. "Let's go Home now, where I'll take care of you."
He turned, carrying her close to his heart, as he descended back into the Sea. This time he wasn't alone anymore, he had his daughter with him.
Poseidon lived in the Mediterranean Sea then, in a secluded part, filled with beautiful underwater caves and bright flora. He hadn't made a Palace yet, preferring the comfort of an abalone shell-like home. Big enough for him and his little girl, along with his counselors and servants.
It was small for a being of his rank but he enjoyed a small confined space compared to the immensity of a palace. He had made her a room, but he preferred to have her close to him the first few weeks … years.
He would often wake up at night and check on her sleeping peacefully beside him in the bed. Smiling softly at the way her little chest would rise and fall in sync with her breathing.
He was determined to be a good parent.
….
Chabrydis grew into a beautiful toddler by God's standards. She was growing extremely fast, at around two years old in mortal terms, she was the size of a 9-year-old human child already.
Her small body has been replaced by a strong, almost rough appearance, but her features are soft and contrast with her physical strength.
He made sure she had lots of toys, her favorite ones being small marble figurines representing different sea animals and mermaids. He made them for her, and he was always happy to play with her whenever she asked.
Poseidon was over the moon with her, so much so that the Seas became a lot quieter since he brought Charybdis home. Before then, Poseidon had been known as a dangerous figure to both humans and other beings alike. Tempestuous and angry all the time. Whereas now, he smiled a lot more, he was happier and more patient.
She didn't know how to properly speak yet, but one day as they were playing together after Poseidon finished one of the most boring meetings of his life he needed a bit of fun himself. So he went home to find his little one quietly playing with her hippocampi figurines. He smiled at the sight. She was so sweet even when she had her tantrums. He had trouble resisting her cuteness.
He crossed the room silently and sat down next to her. She did not acknowledge his presence yet though, too enamored in her little world. He ran a gentle hand over her soft hair he had put in pigtails this morning. "Are you having fun with your hippocampus Chacha?"
The toddler responded using intelligible words while making her hippocampus fly in the air. Which the Sea God took as a yes. He chuckled softly as she made a scene with them, and then handed one of the figurines to him which he took gratefully.
"Thank you little one. Do you want me to show you how the hippocampi swim?" She nodded and giggled softly as he made big movements with the hippocampus figurine in hand adding horses he made using the water around them which caught Charybdis's attention.
….
The Sea God relished most of his baby daughter's happiness, her laughter was like balm to his being. He could not get enough of it. Now they were playing in the gardens he had made in front of their home and they played games once again.
Poseidon tried to be as present as he could with her, sometimes pushing meetings when she was napping so he would not miss out on any time spent with her. Poseidon made it a point to play with her at least once a day even when he was tired or a bit more angry because of Zeus.
Now they were playing hide and seek and Charybdis didn't stay hidden for long because she couldn't stop giggling once she heard Poseidon coming.
Poseidon tickled Charybdis's belly gently, and as she giggled she called him something that would change him forever.
"Tατᾰ!" she giggled up at him and he smiled in return.
Τατᾰ.Daddy in ancient Greek.
He paused, his fingers still resting gently on her soft belly as her laughter filled the air. Poseidon's heart stopped for a second as he processed the word. He had heard a lot of words as a god during his lifetime, prayers, pleas, commands, insults. But this was different, even though he did see this little giantess as his child, he never imagined he would feel such a deep bond with her.
He had once ruled the seas with fury, his wrath capable of shaking the world, but now, in quiet moments like these, all that power felt insignificant compared to the joy of being a father.
Poseidon pulled her into his arms and cuddled her.
"I'm yourΤατᾰ,my little one." He kissed her little forehead and cheeks, making her giggle in his arms. He held onto her for a long time, content to finally feel like he had found a path to not become like his father.
"You are my little one and I'm yourΤατᾰ."He said while holding her close.
…..
Poseidon adored being a Dad, he really did. But some days he wondered if he made the right choice in raising a giant child. He didn't really think through the specific development stages in them before choosing to have her.
He didn't think much of it when he saw Charybdis eating on the coral trees he planted, nor on the toys he made for her. It did not appear weird to him until she started to bite him.
He had been doing her hair like he usually did, and he went to find a little seahorse clip to put in her hair that he had set on the table beside her. When he felt small teeth latching onto his forearm.
He stopped in his tracks when he felt the small teeth into his forearm. The giantess giggled softly at him after she removed her little teeth.
"Charybdis, we don't bite people, little one." He gently reprimanded her, he knew she meant no harm, but her teeth started growing in sharp and pointy. He inspected them gently and she did start to grow into them, which might have triggered such a reaction.
He thought she would outgrow it but she didn't per se and sometimes would bite onto something as a soothing gesture so he got her a special teething toy…made out of marble so she couldn't break it easily.
…..
Poseidon had waited a few decades before formally introducing Charybdis to his Olympian family. Mostly because he wasn't sure how they would react considering that she wasn't a goddess but a giant.
He feared that they wouldn't understand. But he also loved her so much that he wanted to show her off to everyone. Or at least to his closest brothers Zeus and Hades. Most of his siblings seem to at least put up with his creation, smiling gently at the little girl when he would bring her to Olympus. Hestia had been supportive. But the rest were mostly polite enough to smile at her but not interact as if there was something wrong with her.
Poseidon carried her on his hip, her little hands gripped his tunic as he made his way onto Olympus to meet with his family once more. Charybdis wore an adorable blue dress and Poseidon had done her hair in tiny little pigtails.
They'll love her, Poseidon thought quietly.
The little girl tugged as she saw the shiny infrastructure around Mount Olympus, it was a completely different world for her and Poseidon was more than happy to show her around.
"Tατᾰ! Who is this?" she says as she points out to Zeus looking angry as he usually does.
Poseidon chuckled at the sight of his brother. "That's your uncle Uncle Zeus, he can be a bit of a meanie sometimes, but I have to put up with him anyways." He whispered.
Charybdis giggled into her hand as Poseidon walked towards his brother. Zeus raised an eyebrow at the sight of the monstrous child his little brother was proudly carrying into his arms.
"Poseidon, what isthat?" Zeus asked, making a face at the sight of a giantess. Of all the creations Poseidon could have come up with, it had to be a monster.
Poseidon narrowed his eyes, trying to hide the hurt. He knew there would be skepticism after everything that happened with the Titans, but still.
"That is my daughter. Charybdis." He responded, his tone harsh but proud of his creation, his first child. His baby.
"A giantess? With Gaea of all people." Zeus was worried about a possible uprising against the Gods. But Poseidon didn't care much, all he wanted was a little one to call his own, and Charybdis fit this perfectly. Monster or not she was his.
His baby was his. No matter what she looked like.
Zeus was silent, still unconvinced. He crossed his arms over his chest, looking at Charybdis with a mixture of disgust. "Do you truly believe she won't be a threat someday, Poseidon? Her mother is Gaea, and her blood is of the giants, not the Gods."
Poseidon stepped closer, holding Charybdis protectively. "She is not a threat, Zeus. She ismydaughter, and she is mine to protect. She's just a child, and I will teach her our ways."
Charybdis feeling Poseidon's tension instinctively curled more into his embrace.
Hades had been quiet during the interaction, mostly observing the giantess child. She seemed sweet for now, not a threat to them by any means, but he also had some resistance. But he would keep an eye on Poseidon while still showing his support.
He also knew having raised the Sea God how stubborn he could be so it was no use to try and convince Poseidon that having a giantess child was a bad idea.
Hades always had a calming effect on Poseidon. He also had the younger god's trust fully so he didn't step back when the God of the Dead got closer to his daughter. "Hello, little one." He says gently as he approaches the giant child. Charybdis looked at him with curious eyes, not talking because she didn't feel comfortable doing so.
But Hades smiled at her, gently rubbing a finger on her soft baby cheek. "She's beautiful Poseidon, she has your eyes." He noted as the little girl watched him curiously.
"She does," Poseidon said smiling as he rocked the little giant in his arms tenderly.
Zeus looked up from his place, arms crossed on his chest at their eldest brother's comment and there he saw it too. The giantess did have their brother's features mixed with her giant genes.
Watching the interaction, Hades understood quickly why Poseidon was so enamored with the child. He truly needed to nurture and care for a little one to heal himself from their own trauma.
Only time would tell if Poseidon succeeded in that. But Hades was hopeful that this little girl might be a beginning step for their baby brother, possibly going in the right direction. "You are a wonderful father Poseidon, never doubt it."
"Thank you Hades," Poseidon replied, grateful to have his favorite's brother support through everything. "It means a lot to me." He added pressing a gentle kiss to Charybdis's head. The little one nuzzled his neck in response. Her pudgy hands clutched to him.
The words settled into the air between them, a quiet reassurance. Poseidon looked up at his brother, his sea-green eyes momentarily clouded with emotion. Hades wasn't one to offer such praise lightly, especially when it came to matters as personal as this. And for Poseidon, hearing it from Hades, his eldest brother whom he looked up to the most, meant more than words could express.
Zeus rolled his eyes as Hades gave Poseidon some reassurance. Of course, Hades would be supportive despite Poseidon's decision possibly putting their kind and family at risk.
He wasn't just upset with Poseidon's decision, he was upset with the quiet alliance he felt forming between Poseidon and Hades—one that seemed to ignore his concerns, leaving him isolated in his disapproval. In Zeus's mind, it wasn't just about a child's safety. It was about control, about the balance of power within their family. And right now, he felt like he was losing it.
"I suppose we'll see how this plays out, won't we?" Zeus finally said, his voice laced with bitter sarcasm as he turned away, already stewing in his anger. He wasn't finished, not by a long shot.
Hades looked back at him and gave him a nod and a look that said they would be talking more about this at a better time. Not when their baby brother is so happy.
After Poseidon and Charybdis left Olympus, Hades found Zeus sitting on his throne sulking. Like he does when he feels threatened or questioned on his authority.
"I know what you think brother," Hades said. "But, we'll let him be for now. He hasn't been this happy in eons. "We'll have to deal with Gaea differently."
Zeus clenched his fists but listened. The King of the Gods turned towards him. "His instability will bring us all to our knees. He needs to learn that he cannot always have what he desires most whenever he has a temper tantrum."
Hades sighed.
"It's more than a temper tantrum and you know it."He said firmly. Always ready to defend his baby brother.
The younger God pursues his lips. "It might be. But you're indulging him in a fantasy that does not exist. He is not thinking properly. He might betray us for this thing…after he destroys everything on his way." Zeus was referring to Poeidon's volatile temper when he was angry or sad or anything other than happy.
"Indulging him?" He asks. "I'm letting him enjoy something healthy for once, a chance to have a connection with somebody else other than us."
Zeus heaves a small laugh and Hades sends him a glare. "He could have found a wife at this point. Not a monstrous child."
"He's not just a toy in your game against everyone Zeus. Poseidon is completely alone after spending centuries with everyone. Don't you think the transition wouldn't put him into an unstable state of mind?"
The King of the Gods rubs a hand on his temple. "I already gave him multiple choices Hades. He chose the Sea, and I allowed it. He wanted to build a Palace there, and I allowed it. He stayed on Olympus long enough for Athena and Ares to grow and succeed at their duties."
The God of the dead sighs once more. Why did Zeus think he could control their family like this was beyond him. But he let him continue.
"And now, He wants to create a monster and possibly create an army of them and you want me to sit here and let him because he deserves such lenience ?"
Hades narrowed his eyes. "Not leniency Zeus, simply understanding that Poseidon is grown enough to be able to make his own choices without you trying to control him."
Zeus crossed his arms.
"Then we'll see how this will play out. But if he does make an army out of giants, I will stop him." He says as he stands from his throne, thunder echoes behind him. Hades stands there.
He doesn't want to choose between his brothers even if his heart lies in Poseidon's hands because he raised him, he won't stand in the way of yet another petty argument. He has his duties to attend to. The eldest God believes that Poseidon merely wants to be a father, the one he never got the chance to have. But to Zeus, it feels like the ultimate betrayal for Olympus. Having a child born from the same species they had to fight before.
Hades sighed softly but he hoped that Zeus was wrong and that Charybdis would bring their brother the joy he desperately needed without hurting him in the process. He had to trust his baby brother.
….
Charybdis lived a happy childhood with her father in their quiet home. Except things took a turn and not for the best. For the next few decades, Poseidon and Zeus had been at each other's throats over many different issues. The biggest one centered mostly around the fact that Zeus wanted to have some access to Poseidon's domains, which of course the Sea God not so politely declined. Zeus argued that Poseidon needed somebody to help him control his domains which did not sit well with the Sea God.
Their eldest brother had been busy with his problems and after the third time they both pestered him about it, Hades had decided to let them handle it on their own. "If the two of you insist on acting like overgrown children, then I'll let you handle matters into your own hands." He had told them.
"Your domains stretch too far from Poseidon. We had an agreement." Zeus said. "If you cannot handle your emotions I will step in, you need guidance little brother."
Poseidon breathed harshly, trying his best to remain calm, his daughter was behind him watching silently. She knew better than to interfere when he was in one of these moods. She had witnessed many times when he came home and slammed the doors to his rooms harshly, leaving no room for her to ask what happened to make him so infuriated.
"The Sea is mine Zeus, you control the sky. I do not need guidance. I expect freedom. " He whispered, getting closer and closer to Zeus. His fists closed and a storm was forming itself behind them.
Charybdis looked around trying to find a way to calm them, to alleviate the tension. She hates seeing her Tατᾰ angry. She misses the way he used to smile when she was younger, now he's always angry. She shifts uncomfortably as the tension continues to build in the sky and sea creating a vortex of wind and thunder.
She knows that he won't like it, but she has to make it stop.
"Tατᾰ…please." She tries to reason with him, but he doesn't turn.
"Stay out of this Charybdis." He responded to her plea, his tone harsh and unforgiving. The young giantess tried to get closer, but the winds Poseidon created from the storm started to lay in between them. As if she couldn't reach him anymore.
"But Tατᾰ-" She tries once more. And Poseidon dismisses her attempt once more.
"I said not now."
Zeus studied their interaction. "See Poseidon your daughter is scared of you now You're losing control brother."Which made Poseidon even more angry and earned Zeus a fist in the face.
Charybdis breathed hitherto she couldn't stand this anymore, she had to find a way to help. Then she looked down at her feet, they were standing on the beach, then her gaze landed on the tides coming and leaving. She concentrated on them, and as she moved towards the beach, Poseidon and Zeus continued to fight, the waves got bigger and the sky turned into a dark color, lightning touched the waves but Charybdis knew she had to intervene.
Once she's close enough to the water, she feels a gentle pull coming from her fingertips, just like Poseidon had shown her but then she guides the waves into her mouth. She took a deep breath swallowing huge quantities of water and then she went over the area of the winds her father had put between them and pushed out the water in the shape of a huge wave.
Poseidon felt it coming over him so he could escape it but Zeus didn't.
"I knew you would turn against us." He said watching Charybdis behind Poseidon as he wiped the water away from his face, his suit now soaking wet. "This thing does not belong in Olympus."
"You're right brother, she doesn't. She belongs with me." He said cutting off Zeus before he could speak once more. "Now let us be." He said turning his back to Zeus as he made his way towards his daughter. Charybdis's heart pounded in her chest at the way the King of the Gods looked at her as if she was a mere ant he wanted to remove off the face of the planet. But she felt safe with Poseidon.
Zeus stepped back, shocked at Poseidon's defiance and lack of respect.
'You've sealed your fate Poseidon. You've made your choice clear, and I'll make sure you pay the price for it." Zeus warns before he finally vanishes.
Charybdis lets out a deep breath. Finally relieved of his overwhelming presence. But then she's met with the disapproving gaze of her father. She braced herself for what was about to come.
"You disobeyed me Charybdis, Zeus is dangerous, he could have hurt you."
The young giantess looks up to him, "I'm sorry Tατᾰ. I-I tried to help you."
Poseidon's demeanor softened when he saw her lip starting to tremble slightly. "I know you did. But next time, you have to be careful."
Charybdis nods, she doesn't want to see him upset at her now. She wants Poseidon to be happy and proud of her.
"We'll start training now that my brother wants to take my domains, I'll make sure we're ready for the next round. If he wants a war then, we'll give it to him."
She smiled sadly, not really understanding what this meant for her. But she was happy to see Poseidon smiling again. They headed back home where she slept more peacefully, but in the back of her mind lingered on Zeus's words. They tormented her dreams. But she was too ashamed to go to Poseidon for help. She felt too old to go to him when she needed to.
She lay in bed like this for a few more hours before closing her eyes and thinking about her training for the next day. She will be strong enough to defeat Zeus so Tατᾰ will be happy again.
…
The training she endured bore its fruits quickly. The now almost-grown Giantess had been swallowing more and more lands under herΤατᾰ's command. They would start early in the morning and end very late at night. Not leaving enough time for Charybdis to have fun anymore.
But she happily would oblige and whenever they stumbled upon a strategic area, Charybdis would swallow the land and turn it into Sea.
The duo had been unstoppable. Poseidon relished the screams of his brother's allies and the fear in the mortals' eyes for a long time. They took strategic areas, like villages, ports, and islands where the land would be too fertile.
Infuriating Zeus in the process, Mankind knew only storms and thunder during these times. The entire Mediterranean Sea had been taken as a new front line for the Gods. Until it expanded towards the Strait of Messina.
"Τατᾰ," Charybdis said one day, looking up at her father as he studied a map of the Mediterranean. "There's another stretch of land just beyond the strait of Messina. It would make a perfect addition to your domain." Her voice was filled with both eagerness and pride, thrilled to contribute to her father's war, despite not fully understanding the danger that was coming her way.
Poseidon gave her a soft smile. "Then you shall go to Charybdis. Be swift. Leave no trace of land. I'll wait for you here while you take back what is mine."
She bit her lip, not leaving his side like he had expected her to moments ago.
The young Giantess looked down sadly, not wanting to show her true emotions. But admittedly, the last decades spent with him had been rough. A far cry from the love she used to feel for him when she was young. Now she felt as if she was mostly a means to an end. She misses the times when he would play with her and hold her.
Charybdis had been put to use as Poseidon's new weapon. But sometimes it felt like he forgot she was his daughter first. She lingered at the table long enough for Poseidon to tear his eyes off the map and look at her curiously.
"Shouldn't you be on your way?" He asked his tone harsher than what he had intended. The teenage giant shook her head but she avoided his gaze. Charybdis had started to question if Poseidon really saw her as his child or as a tool for something greater than her.
If he did truly care for her. Or if it was just a way to get what he needed out of her.
"I-I…Can we play after I'm done?" She asks silently, playing with the edge of the table, her head bowed down. "I don't see you anymore." She adds, her lower lip trembling slightly.
Poseidon didn't respond right away. He looked at the map, and then back at the small giant at his side. He lets out a heavy sigh but gives in to her silent request.
"Yes, we'll play after you are done with your duties." He responded while he brushed his hand down the back of her long blond hair. Charybdis unconsciously leaned into the touch.
"Thank you Τατᾰ." She says finally looking up at him, trying to not show her tears.
I wish you would hold me thought as she started making her leave quietly.
Charybdis sighed one last time before heading to the area where her last breath would be taken.
….
Poseidon waited patiently for her to come back home but she never did. After night started to fall in on the Sea, he started to feel that something might have been wrong with his child. "Charybdis!" He called out. But he got no response.
As he couldn't find her within the area he assigned her to, he went to the shore, but still nothing. He spent a few hours searching for her, he was getting more and more frantic as his worst nightmare started to come true. Until Poseidon felt the currents changing while back into the Sea. They were getting more violent. Turning upon themselves.
He swam in the direction of the currents until he found a giant whirlpool. Poseidon stopped breathing for a second when he felt her essence. "No," he whispered before going inside the eye of the whirlpool. The water pressure pulled him down.
As he swam closer he saw her. She wasn't the beautiful giantess he had raised, but now a monster. She now had huge teeth, a slimy mouth, and giant eyes clouded with 's heart sank as he swam closer to her, trying to reassure her that he was here, that she wasn't alone.
Charybdis let out a mournful sound, her voice distorted by the unnaturalness of her form, but he recognized it. She was calling him. The currents pulled him down even more, desperate for his comfort. The Sea God moved toward her slowly, his movements cautious but filled with desperation.
"Mylittle one, I'm here," he whispered, reaching out to touch her, or what was left of her. Poseidon felt desperation sink in. He didn't know what to do. How to remove the curse. But one thing he knew for sure, was that Zeus had been the one to cause her such pain.
He always despised her since the day he met her but now his daughter had served in a terrible war that she should have never been a part of in the first place.
The monster sadly didn't recognize him, so he went out of the eye of the whirlpool. At the surface, he tried to pet her teeth, for her to feel safe, to know that he wouldn't give up on her. Poseidon held her for what seemed like an eternity, fighting against the currents. He would not give up. No matter how monstrous she looked, she was still his little girl. His Charybdis. Hisdaughter.
And as the sea raged around them, Poseidon whispered again, his voice full of unwavering love."I will never stop loving you, my little one. Never." He promised her as tears started to form in his eyes. "I'm so sorry." Those were the last words he told her before he realized that she would never come back.
…
Poseidon stirred in his sleep, silent tears waking him from his slumber. Charybdis haunted his memories during certain periods.
On this night, he couldn't fall asleep because the pain of losing her was too much to bear. So he quietly left their bed and he headed back to the balcony one last time. He had to check on her. But as he walked towards the balcony, he didn't hear the currents and the wind surrounding Charybdis's whirlpool.
Thoughts went wild in his mind, he kept thinking of ways to bring her back, how he would send guards to find her as soon as dawn came again. But then he felt something or rather someone bite him.
The Sea God quickly turned, his pain momentarily forgotten as he stared into a familiar figure.
"Charybdis?"
He looked around where it had been mere hours ago, rubbing his eyes to try and check if he was indeed awake. But, still, the sea was abnormally quiet, with no currents. Only the full moon's rays were shining down onto the underwater city of Atlantis and sea creatures swam peacefully.
For a brief moment, he wondered what he would do if she did vanish after all this time if it meant that she had found peace. If she truly turned into a mindless monster and forgot about him. Maybe it was for the best since he was the one responsible for her death.
He closes his eyes once then twice but it's still not there. That was the last remains of his firstborn child. He can't let her go. Just as tears start to fall from his eyes one last time. "Τατᾰ" He feels gentle teeth nipping at his arms and he turns fast.
Then she appeared before him, not in the same form he saw her for the last time, but more monstrous yet delicate. Charybdis smiles at him softly, her sharp teeth reminiscent of the curse wrongfully placed upon her. But Poseidon doesn't care, and she has no time to speak before he pulls her into an embrace.
"I'm so sorry, Charybdis. I-" he doesn't finish his sentence before she cuts him off by biting his arm playfully again. She giggles softly, her eyes full of love and adoration for him, despite what happened. The sensation is comforting to him.
"I missed you holding me Τατᾰ!" She giggles into his chest as if the pain she felt then had been erased when the curse was removed.
Poseidon is too stunned to understand what's happening so he pulls her back looking her up and down and touching her face to see if she's real. "How? I thought I'd lost you."
She merely shrugs. "I don't know, but we can play now!" Charybdis says excitedly. Poseidon chuckles at her antics and pulls her back into a cuddle. "I love you my little one." He says kissing the top of her head. Charybdis responds in kind by snuggling closer without biting this time.
They stay like this for a long time. And eventually, Charybdis falls asleep in his arms. Poseidon knows he'll have some explaining to do to Amphi the next day, but he also knows she will be understanding of Charybdis and accept her within their growing family.
"Now Zeus, tell me who's the one indulging him?" Hades points out as both elder Gods watched Poseidon finally sleep peacefully holding his monstrous daughter in his arms. Blissfully unaware of their presence.
Zeus shot Hades a harsh glance but he knew he was right. "I merely did it to keep the peace. This monstrosity has no place within our realms." He added nodding at Charybdis nipping at Poseidon's arm in her sleep.
Hades sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. It would take a long time for Zeus to see past his paranoia. But there was some progress.
"He does come to the councils now and has an Heir to the throne like you wanted. He's stable Zeus, allow him the freedom he deserves."
Zeus didn't respond. He merely stared at them in semi-disgust and left. Hades rolled his eyes. At least Poseidon was happy and not as destructive as he used to. Surely Zeus would come around eventually.
And he did. When years down the line he recognized Tyson's help in battle even though he was yet another one of his brother's monstrous children.
