A/N: This one is just a snippet really!

"Our next guests are creating quite the stir on the internet at the moment with a very cute proposal. One of them is America's most decorated gymnast in history, and the other is… well, ladies, let's just say you'll want to pay attention to this one. Everybody please welcome Jennifer Jareau and William LaMontagne Jr!"

Will was decidedly overwhelmed by everything as he walked out clutching JJ's hand amidst raucous applause, but the smile on his face told otherwise. They were in Los Angeles after JJ had been asked to appear on Ellen once more; only this time, Will had also been invited along, much to his bemusement.

Reaching the couch, Will was still beaming as he accepted a hug from Ellen, his gaze darting around at all the lights, cameras, and excited people in the audience.

'Ellen DeGeneres! You're actually sitting with Ellen DeGeneres!' he thought as JJ gave his hand a quick squeeze. They took their seats, Will looking around the set as JJ fixed a warm smile on their host.

"JJ, it is so nice to have you back with us again, especially seeing as you've brought your wonderful better half with you this time"

Everyone laughed as Will turned back to Ellen with a grin.

"It's been an exciting time for you two! First of all, congratulations on your engagement, that is such an exciting milestone for any couple. Did you have any idea it was coming, JJ?"

"Not really," JJ chuckled. "I mean, we've talked about it before, and I've kind of always known that Will is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, but I didn't think he would actually propose for a while! We're both still quite young and have a lot we want to do in our lives, but it's so nice to know that we're getting married"

"What about you, Will? How long had you had your mind made up?"

"Well," Will said slowly, his tone inciting some laughter. "I've had that ring for two years"

JJ's jaw dropped. "Really?"

"Yeah, I… when we went away to Conneaut Lake for our two year anniversary, I was so head over heels that I was going to propose right there. I mean, I'm still head over heels, but I have some logical thinking as well"

The audience laughed. JJ had a touched smile on her face, her cheeks flushed a light pink.

"I decided it would be better to wait. She was still trainin' full out for the Olympics, and I wanted us to get engaged at a time when we could really slow down and enjoy it… so I waited. We went to Hawaii last year for a vacation, and I had the ring with me then as well, but… the timing didn't feel right there either. I knew the right time would come, so I just waited"

"What made you choose to do it on the tour?"

"Aly Raisman," Will said dryly, making everyone laugh, but none as hard as JJ. "I called her earlier this year after I'd asked JJ's father for his blessing, and she helped me narrow it down"

"Honestly, I think everyone in and out of gymnastics just adores you two, your Instagram accounts read like every fangirl's dream-"

JJ and Will both laughed as Ellen grinned at them.

"-but what's it really like, your relationship?"

JJ looked at Will, smiling as she took his hand. "It's… it's hard work. Not in a bad way, every relationship takes work. There comes a time when the fairytale romance starts to wear off and you actually have to work with each other. I think Will and I were lucky to have had the foundation we did in that we were friends for ten years before we started dating, and we were already really close. Starting a committed relationship at eighteen isn't always guaranteed to work out, but we did. I know we paint a bit of a perfect story on Instagram, but that isn't always the case. Sure, we have days like that, but we also have days that aren't like that. I think it's just important for people to remember that you have to stick it out through the good and the bad"

"So, JJ, you're coming off the back of a second Olympics… you beat Simone Biles at her own game, how did that feel?"

"It took ages for it to sink in. I actually felt bad for her because the whole world was expecting her to win… but I'm really proud of myself for the win. It was one of the hardest but most rewarding days of my life"

"And Will, when you're not watching JJ collect medal after medal-"

Will chuckled.

"-what do you do with yourself?"

"I actually graduated from the University of Pittsburgh earlier this year. I'm taking this year as a bit of a break, just to enjoy some downtime with JJ, and then next year I'm applying to the police academy"

"Sounds like you have it all worked out," Ellen chuckled. "Are you continuing in gymnastics JJ? Or do you have any plans for after gymnastics?"

JJ shook her head. "Not really," she said with a laugh. "I mean, I'm doing a degree in communications and criminology, it's just taking me forever because I'm doing it part-time online. But I'm not really sure what I want to do after all of this. I'm… I'm honestly not even sure if I'm done with gymnastics yet. I just want to take it as it comes for a while and enjoy everything"
