Kate jumped up when the door opened. "What happened?"
Dean put his elbow on Taylor's head. "He led us to a demon doing demon-y things."
Kate grinned. "That is what the feeling was?"
Taylor nodded. "I guess so." He felt off since he thought of the connection. He didn't think that Kate was bad but felt guilty for putting it together.
"What is wrong?" Kate asked.
Dean stepped around Taylor. "Give him a minute." He didn't want to lie to her but didn't want her to process the demon information when she had so recently thought that them shooting her was a viable idea.
Taylor was tired. What ever ability caused him to sense demons also wiped him out.
"Is anyone home right now?" Dean asked.
Taylor shrugged. "Maybe my mom."
"Where is your dad?"
Taylor shrugged again. "Off on a bender or a hunt."
Dean hated that he knew how Taylor felt. John truly did care about his kids but he was a lot like Craig with the alcoholism and month long absences. "Do you two want to work on something to eat? Bobby could use a break."
Taylor and Kate went to look for something to Eat. "We could make pasta." Kate said.
Taylor knew that Dean had purposefully sent them away. "Uh, yeah that works."
Dean waited for them to clear the hallway. "What do we do about him?"
Bobby sighed. "I think we had that conversation earlier."
Dean leaned against Bobby's desk. "Not that. His parents suck."
Bobby chuckled. "Has anyone in this house had a parent that doesn't suck?"
Dean rubbed his face. "Just because we grew up alone while dad went on his bar crawls but it doesn't mean Taylor has to."
"What are you wanting me to do? He is welcome here when ever he wants but Brian and John dropped you lot off here. I wasn't trying to hold you captive." Bobby said.
"It just bugs me." Dean said.
Sam was seen as the more sensitive brother but Dean had a natural protective instinct that Sam admired.
"He is almost 13. He can afford to stay home sometimes. He isn't a toddler." Bobby said.
Dean couldn't quite explain what was bothering him. He was an almost 13 year old with emerging abilities. "I'll take him home after supper." He said and walked outside.
Sam sat down in the chair by Bobby's desk. "Taylor had a theory. I think it is throwing Dean off."
Bobby leaned forward. "What was it?"
"His ability is being able to sense demon activity. That is why it was so strong the night that we went to Lacy's house. He still gets small bursts of that feeling around Kate and it may be because of what happened when she and I were babies." Sam explained quietly.
Bobby sighed. "Are you thinking there is something still hanging around in you two?"
Sam shrugged. "I don't know but I don't think Dean is comfortable with it."
"No, I'd say not." Bobby said and rubbed his neck. "I'll talk to him."
Sam went to help the kids. "What is on the menu?"
"Pasta." Kate answered.
"Might should have some kind of vegetable with that." He said with a smirk.
Kate rolled her eyes. "What do you suggest?"
"There are some fresh greens out there that I can cut. Salad sound good?" Sam asked.
Kate smirked. "Trying to poison Dean?"
Sam laughed. "No but that does give me an idea. Want to hide some in the sauce and see if he notices?"
"Don't parents do that to trick toddlers into eating?" Taylor asked.
Sam raised an eyebrow. "He is basically a toddler."
Kate agreed but had Taylor cut up some vegetables to steam.
Taylor grabbed a few seasonings from the cabinet.
"What are you doing?" Kate asked.
Taylor looked at her. "How do you cook these?"
Kate shrugged. "Salt?"
Taylor dumped a few things in the pot. "Your life is about to change."
Kate giggled. "If you say so."
Dean came back in the house. "Food done?"
Kate answered him from the kitchen. "Yep!"
"What is all of this?" Dean said and looked at the salad and and steamed veggies.
Sam slid him a plate. "It is grown up food Dean."
Dean scoffed. "Rabbit food."
Taylor pushed the bowl toward him. "Try one bite."
Dean eyed him. "Not you too." He begrudgingly took a spoonful of the stuff that Taylor made.
Bobby chuckled. "It wont kill you, son."
Dean bit into a carrot. He paused and chewed. "What did you put into this?"
Taylor swallowed his food. "Flavor."
Dean narrowed his eyes. "I'm not making it a habit but these are edible."
"I'll take that as high praise." Taylor said.
They had a nice dinner and chatted aimlessly. The room wasn't heavy and tense.
Taylor got a phone call and stepped out of the room. "Hello?"
"Where are you?" Craig asked.
"I'm still at Bobby's. Mom said it was okay." Taylor answered.
"Just get your ass home. You live here, not there." Craig replied.
Taylor hung up the phone and walked back to the kitchen. "I have to go home."
Dean saw a familiar look in Taylor's eyes. "I'll take you."
Taylor grabbed the clothes that were handed down to him and put them in Dean's car. "Thanks. All these trips to town have to kill your gas tank."
Dean turned the car on. "Baby has been to just about every state in the US. A few trips into town aren't hurting her."
Taylor was quiet on the drive.
Dean saw Craig's truck out front and tried to hide his opinion.
The porch light flicked on.
Taylor gathered his stuff. "Thanks." He said and shut the car door.
Dean didn't pull away right away.
"What is all of that?" Craig asked.
Taylor could smell the liquor. "I was helping Bobby clean out some stuff and this was just stuff that Sam and Dean outgrew."
"You have clothes. You don't need to go begging at someone else's house."
Taylor felt the trap being set. "I can return them. He asked me to take them since the rest will wind up getting donated."
"You should be here. You have stuff you can clean here." Craig added.
"Yes sir. I understand." He said.
Dean could read Taylor and Craig's body language and it peeked his interest.
Taylor ducked his head.
Craig opened the door. "Just go inside."
Taylor turned and gave Dean a small smile to tell him it was okay to leave.
Dean did but couldn't shake the desire to step in. Craig was more level headed since he started hunting but Dean knew what a few too many could do to one's head.
As soon as the door closed Taylor knew that Craig wasn't himself. He tried to walk to his room in an effort to avoid him.
"Stop." Craig said.
Taylor stopped and turned around. "Yes sir?"
Craig had flashbacks for several days and washed them away with a bottle or three of whiskey. "Don't you use a tone with me."
Taylor froze. He knew how things went. His dad was someone else when he was drunk and judging by the slur of speech, Taylor could have avoided this by waiting an extra 30 minutes for him to pass out. Nothing he said would appease Craig.
Dean stopped by Lacy's since she didn't have the kids that night. He had spent so much time hunting and keeping up with life at Bobby's that some time with Lacy was overdue.
Lacy opened the door and welcomed him in. She kissed him. "How much time do you have?"
Dean wrapped his arms around her. "All night."
Sam got the text from Dean and rolled his eyes. "Dean decided to go to Lacy's."
Bobby chuckled. "He will be home tomorrow. Got it."
Kate scrunched her nose but didn't comment.
Taylor shoved a pillow under Craig's head and rolled him to the side so he didn't aspirate. It was something he learned to do a long time ago and it was second nature. He picked up the clothes Dean had given him and put them away in his room. He took off his shirt and looked in the mirror. The bruising faded as he watched. He was becoming more grateful for the healing ability. He wouldn't have to explain anything. He flopped down on his bed and fell asleep.
The next morning Dean woke up next to Lacy. He rolled over and put his arm over her. "Morning sunshine."
Lacy smiled and kissed him. "Morning already?"
Dean ran his fingers down her arm. "I guess we didn't get much sleep last night."
Lacy rolled on top of him kissed down his neck.
Dean groaned when his phone lit up.
Lacy flipped it over and traced her fingers down his chest.
Dean's phone buzzed again. "Don't stop. Just let me check this."
Lacy rolled her eyes but continued what she was doing.
Dean looked at his phone and sat up.
"What is it?" Lacy asked.
Dean shifted from under her and grabbed his pants. "Hold that thought. I got an SOS."
"From Sam? Dean what is wrong?" Lacy asked as she pulled a t shirt over her head.
"Taylor. I don't know." He grabbed his keys.
"Do you want me to ride with you?" Lacy asked.
Dean shook his head. "We will pick up where we left off. I promise."
Lacy smiled and bit her lip. "I'll hold you to that promise."
Dean tried to all Taylor but didn't get an answer. The kid had just messaged him so he couldn't have gotten too far from his phone. Dean drove to Taylor's house. It didn't look like either of his parents were home. He knocked on the door but got another message with a location. He got in the car and went to the street that Taylor had sent him. He slowed the car and rolled down the window. "Kid, get in."
Taylor got into the car.
"Taylor, what is going on?" Dean asked.
Taylor felt sick to his stomach and leaned forward to catch his breath.
Dean drove out of town and pulled over. "Okay now talk to me. Do we need to be running to or away from something."
"My dad." Taylor heaved.
"Where is he?" Dean asked.
"H.. hunting." Taylor said before opening the door to throw up over the guardrail.
Dean got out and walked around the car. He approached Taylor slowly. "Taylor. What is he hunting?"
Taylor wiped his mouth and steadied himself with the guard rail. "Me."
Dean blinked. "Excuse me. What?"
Taylor's eyes darted around. "He is hunting me."
"What? Why? Get in the car." Dean said.
Taylor still felt sick but got in the car.
Dean called ahead to Bobby's. "We have a situation."
Bobby had heard that line one too many times. "What kind of situation?"
"Has anyone visited this morning?"
Bobby pulled a face. "No Dean, what is going on?"
"I'm right down the road Bobby." Dean said.
Bobby hung up the phone and stepped onto the porch. He didn't know what was going on but the tone of Dean's voice didn't bode well. He heard the impala a few minutes later.
Dean turned into Bobby's driveway. "You doing okay over there?"
Taylor didn't respond. He was afraid that if he spoke he would throw up.
Dean got out of the car and got Taylor out as well. He walked him quickly to the house and went inside.
"Dean." Bobby said.
Dean's eyes were wide and worried. "I don't know yet." He steered Taylor to the kitchen and gave him a drink. "What do you mean your dad is hunting you?"
"Your dad is what?" Bobby boomed.
Taylor took deep breaths. "He thinks I am a shapeshifter."
"Why would he think that?" Dean asked.
Taylor's face got red. "It is a long story."
Dean sat down across from him. "We have time."
Taylor didn't want to talk about it but knew he could trust them. "It is all a big misunderstanding."
"What kind of misunderstanding?" Dean pushed.
Taylor cracked is knuckles. "So this all sounds bad but it isn't that big of a deal."
Dean nodded for Bobby to step out of the room. "Try me."
"I'll just be blunt but it sounds bad." Taylor said.
"All ears here, kid." Dean said.
Taylor cleared his throat. "Last night my dad was drunk. That isn't anything new. He wasn't quite... there... I guess he was dealing with some ptsd stuff which is also not new."
Dean had a sinking feeling where this was heading. "Taylor. What happened?"
"I made him mad. He lost it a little bit." He added.
"How much is a little bit?" Dean urged him.
"I.. he.. I healed."
Dean swallowed hard. "Continue."
"That is actually why he thinks I am a shifter. He woke up this morning and I didn't have any marks. I tried to explain but I don't think he was completely sober." Taylor said.
Dean didn't know what to say. "So he beats the shit out of you, expects you to be bruised to hell this morning and assumes you are a shapeshifter when you wake up spotless?"
Taylor paused. "That is the short version."
Dean got up and paced around.
Bobby had heard everything and walked back in. "Was this anything like the time that Kate stitched you up?"
Taylor didn't want to get into the details. "I healed."
Bobby put his hand on Taylor's shoulder. "My old man was a piece of work. I wont ask for details."
Taylor thanked him.
Dean took his keys out of his pocket and walked toward the door.
Bobby stopped him. "Dean, what are you doing?"
Dean reached for the door. "I'm going to find him."
Bobby sighed. "We don't know the full story. If he is not in his right mind, he isn't going to talk to you. Let him cool off and we will figure it out."
"The full story? We don't need the full story. Taylor had to HEAL from what he did." Dean said.
Bobby shut the door. "I'm not excusing that. I'm trying to keep your head from being blown off if he assumes you are not human."
Dean stepped back. "Fine."
"Give me your keys." Bobby said.
Dean pulled his hand back. "You aren't taking my keys."
"You aren't thinking clearly. You are seeing red. If nothing else, how are you going to say a damn thing to Kate about controlling herself if you go out there half cocked and ready to bust down his door." Bobby responded.
Dean took a deep breath. "Alright." He handed over his keys. "Only to set a decent example."
Bobby folded the keys into his hand. "Wouldn't hurt you to run a few laps while you're at it."
Dean rubbed his hand down his face. "You're right."
Bobby clapped him on the back. "Clear your head. I've got the boy."
Dean checked to make sure Taylor was okay and went out to run. He'd need to put in quite a few miles to get through the anger he was feeling. John wasn't parent of the year but he never crossed that particular line. He got close but had never hit their back or face. Dean was also grateful for Taylor's healing ability because he knew he would have snapped if he had witness the aftermath.
Taylor was quiet and deep in thought. He was tired from lack of sleep and shaken by the argument with Craig. He was worried that even if Craig understood that he wasn't a shifter but had a healing ability that he would be disgusted and see him as a monster. Taylor spent so much time trying to fit a mold that Craig designed and any part of him that didn't color within the lines often didn't sit well with his dad. He understood how Sam felt about college, knowing that John wouldn't approve.
Bobby offered Taylor some breakfast. "You look like you could use some sleep."
"Yes sir. I can't say I slept a lot last night." Taylor answered .
"Get some food down you and I'll see what I can do for a bed." Bobby said.
"You don't have to do that." Taylor said.
Bobby put a hand on his shoulder. "I know but I'm going to." He went up the stairs and found Sam. He gave him a run down of what Taylor had told them.
Sam sat back. "God. That is horrible. Let me get new bedding and he an bunk in here."
Kate walked into the bedroom with a towel in her hair. "What's going on?"
Bobby told her about Taylor. "Don't ask him a bunch of questions."
Kate felt sick for him. "Okay. What can I do?"
"Give him space. Don't badger him." Bobby answered.
"I wont. Can I go downstairs?" She asked.
"I'll go down with you." Bobby said.
Sam redressed his bed and went down as well.
Taylor was uncomfortable and regretted saying anything.
Kate simply hugged him.
"You can take my bed. It has fresh sheets and blankets." Sam said.
Taylor started to protest.
Kate stopped him. "I have a bunch of chores to do so by the time I'm done, you'll be awake and we can work on the basement."
Taylor shrugged. "Okay. Just wake me up if you get done sooner."
Sam walked upstairs with him and got him settled. "You doing okay?"
Taylor looked at him. "Yeah."
Sam gave him a knowing nod. "When you get ready, talk." He tossed him a pillow and went downstairs.
"Where is Dean?" Kate asked.
"I sent him to run." Bobby said.
Kate rested her elbows on the table. "Why?"
Bobby turned around and looked at her. "Anger management. Now stop asking me questions unless you want to run too."
Kate made a zipping motion across her mouth. She went outside and looked over the railing. She didn't know when Dean left or how far he was running. She had her own opinions on what happened to Taylor and could feel Dean's brand of anger. Taylor didn't deserve any of that. They weren't shapeshifters but even if they were, Craig was an idiot.
Dean ran until his lungs burned. He felt his anger slipping away but it was replaced with determination and worry. He had a few run ins with John in which he wished he could fling him across a room. Most of those times were when he was trying to get between John and Sam. Most kids have periods of time where they aren't happy with their parents. How much could Craig push Taylor before he snapped?
Kate heard gravel crunching and walked off the porch.
Dean stopped. "Hey there."
"Bobby told me." She said.
Dean put his hands behind his head and breathed deeply.
Kate could see him struggle with his anger. She smirked. "So you had to run laps?"
Dean chuckled. "Got my keys taken too."
Kate smiled. "Well it is nice to know you aren't a hypocrite."
Dean poured water from the hose over his face. "Bobby wouldn't stand for it."
"What are we going to do?" Kate asked.
"I don't know."
"I can compel him." Kate said.
"Kate. You can't use your abilities on people." Dean said.
Kate shifted. "Fine, shoot him."
Dean sighed. "Don't tempt me."
"I can compel him to understand. That way Taylor would be safe." Kate said.
Dean rubbed the back of his head. "Just reign it in. We will figure it out."
Kate groaned. "Simple fix."
Dean tilted her chin. "Reign in in."
Kate pulled her face away. "Okay but if he shows up here I'm doing it."
Dean ruffled her hair. "If he shows up here and isn't in his right mind you can compel him to sleep. Just sleep."
Kate rolled her eyes. "There isn't enough traffic on this road to bother compelling him into the middle of it."
Dean swatted her. "Do I need to repeat myself?"
"No. Got it." Kate said and put her hands behind her. "You are extra prickly."
Dean motioned for her to sit on the swing and sat beside her. "I'm not prickly. I am trying to make sure you don't go down one of your paths."
"I'm not going down a path. I promise." Kate said.
Dean leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees. "Kate, you wanted me to shoot you."
Kate crossed her legs. "I was just spit balling."
"That isn't spit balling. That is giving in."
"I don't have the best record." Kate said.
"You are a kid. You are learning." Dean said.
Kate rolled her back.
"I don't know what is going to happen but I know you aren't turning." Dean said.
Kate rested her head on his shoulder. "If you say so."
Dean put his arm around her. "I do say so."
John answered the call from Bobby. "What ya' got Bobby?"
Bobby told him about Taylor and Craig.
"Son of a bitch." John growled. "Where is he now?"
"We don't know. All we know is Taylor ran and asked Dean to help him. Craig's truck wasn't at their house." Bobby said.
John felt his own blood boiling. "Give me an hour."
"John, what are you going to do?" Bobby asked, apprehensively.
"Talk to the son of a bitch, Singer." John replied.
Bobby heard the call disconnect and slammed his phone down. "Balls." At least if John killed him he didn't have to bail Dean out of jail.
Dean saw Bobby open the door. "How is Taylor?"
"Sleeping. I called John." Bobby said.
"What did he say?" Kate asked.
Bobby sucked air through his teeth. "He said he would talk to him."
Dean smirked. "Is that all he said?"
Bobby chuckled. "No, but there is a child out here."
"Has anyone talked to Misty?" Dean asked.
Bobby scratched his chin. "I'll get on that."
Misty answered the phone. "Hey, Bobby. I'm at work."
"Have you talked to your husband?" Bobby asked.
"No. What's wrong?" She asked and walked away from her desk.
"Long story short, he is hunting your son." Bobby said.
"He is what? Where is Taylor?" She grabbed her keys.
"I think it is best if you stay at your office. Keep an eye out. Taylor is at my house sleeping. He is okay." Bobby soothed her.
"Why is he hunting Taylor?" Misty asked. The question felt impossible coming out of her mouth.
"Taylor gave us the short story. He is exhausted so we didn't dig. With what happened, Taylor seems to have been given an ability or two. One of them is healing. He cut is finger and it zipped right up. From what he said it sounds like Craig roughed him up pretty bad and when he woke up lily white the next morning Craig assumed he was a shifter." Bobby told her.
Misty knew she enabled Craig but he would sober up and think straight in no time.
"Keep an eye out. Let me know if you hear anything." Bobby said.
"Okay. Thanks, Bobby."
Bobby hung up the phone.
Kate was chewing on her fingers. "This isn't fair."
Dean shook his head. "No. It isn't."
"I can find him." Kate said.
Dean eyed her. "We need to all think through this."
"Then think about it. I was able to find John and alert him about the werewolf and that was ages ago when I barely had any kind of power. I was able to see things through Hellen too." Kate said.
"You had a connection though. Craig is different and you don't know if searching for him will work." Dean said.
Kate got up and walked over to the edge of the porch.
Bobby pulled Dean to the side. "I'll make some calls and get eyes on his truck." He went inside and called a few buddies.
Kate turned around and looked at Dean.
"What did you do?" Dean asked.
Kate gave him an uncomfortable grin.
"Katelyn." Dean said and stood up.
"Good news. I know where he is." She said and backed up.
Dean pinched the bridge of his nose and pulled her into the house. "Call off the search party, Bobby."
Bobby sat his phone down. "Why is that?"
"She found him." Dean said in a low tone.
Bobby crossed his arms.
Kate took a deep breath. "I improvised but it is better to find him before he does anything than just wait around."
"I told you to wait." Dean said.
"Needlessly." Kate defended. "I already know I stepped in it. I know I went behind your back. He is at the bar in town and wont leave so if you wanted to pick him up or something, now is a good time."
"What did you do?" Bobby asked.
Kate took a few steps back. "Look, I'm not even going to try a card. I found him and compelled him to sleep."
Dean stared at her. "How many times have I talked to you?"
"Plenty. This is Taylor we are talking about. I'm not arguing. I'm not saying I didn't disobey an order but I found him." Kate said.
"How do you feel?" Dean asked with a raised brow.
Kate grimaced. "Why do you ask?"
Dean blinked slowly. "Answer the question."
"Uh my head hurts." She touched her nose. "and I have a nose bleed."
"One of the reasons I told you to wait." Dean said.
"I already did it so can someone please grab him before he starts trying to hunt kids down again?" Kate asked.
Dean took a deep breath. "I'll let dad know."
"Where is he? One of you could round him up." Kate said.
"And do what?" Dean said.
"I don't know. We have a basement." Kate answered.
"That is your solution? Throw him in the basement? I you haven't noticed, the panic room isn't finished." Bobby said.
Kate shrugged. "As long as he is out it doesn't matter where he is."
"We don't know what any of that does to someone's head. That is the entire reason I told you to flipping wait." Dean said in a growl.
"I'm done. I promise. No more compelling." Kate said.
Dean spoke to Bobby for a moment. "I'm going to drive down there. Keep an eye on her."
Bobby scoffed. "What else do I do in a day?"
"Every time she uses an ability she snowballs." He whispered to Bobby. He turned to Kate. "It is good we have eyes on Craig but you and I are going to talk when I get back."
Kate slumped. "Yeah, I figured."
Dean frowned and then ruffled her hair. "Not saying I'm not impressed, just not pleased."
"That is a back handed compliment if I ever heard one." Kate said.
"Those are my specialty." Dean replied and gently smacked the back of her head.
Kate watched through the window as he pulled away. She bounced on her toes and spun around happily. She looked up and froze when she saw Bobby.
"Are you testing him?" Bobby asked.
"No. Of course not." Kate replied.
"Kate. It seems an awful like lot testing. Now I'm not thrilled that you went behind our backs. No, you didn't even do that. You were told to wait and side stepped all of five foot away and did what you wanted to anyway. He had been wracking his head on ways to help you and you do this crap every time." Bobby said.
Kate hung her head. "I'm sorry. It had to be done."
"Kate, if you had waited we were going to let you search for him. When you use an ability, especially a new one it is like an alcoholic smelling liquor."
"You'd know all about that." Kate mumbled.
Bobby didn't fall into the trap. He was the adult. "I do know all about that. I drink a lot but have I ever hurt you? Have I ever let myself drink so much that I couldn't control myself?"
"No sir." Kate answered.
"Craig did some stupid crap. You can see the difference here. We don't think you are an alcoholic. We are asking you to pace yourself until you learn how to hold your liquor." Bobby added.
"I guess that makes sense. I'm sorry." She replied.
Bobby hugged her. "I know."
"I'm guessing sorry doesn't cut it." Kate grumbled.
"I'd say not. Just to be clear, it isn't what you did, it is how you went about it." He said and rubbed her back.
"I understand. Paying off a bill by robbing a bank."
Bobby paused. "That is a good way to look at it."
"Might as well get a head start on community service hours. What can I do?" Kate asked.
Bobby chuckled. "Want to help me pack some shells?"
Kate nodded. "Salt?"
"Yep." Bobby said and got the shell kit from the pantry.
"I wonder how someone found out about the whole salt thing." Kate said absentmindedly.
"No idea but glad they did." Bobby said.
"Salt has been around for a long time. Maybe someone just threw a salt shaker in desperation."
"I'd imagine that was a shock." Bobby commented.
Kate filled shells. "It would be cool to be the person who invents the next monster kryptonite."
"I'm not a fan of flying by the seat of my pants. I prefer to be the one who goes into the fight knowing how to kill the thing." Bobby said with a chuckle.
Dean walked into the local bar. He found Craig and tossed the bar tender a hefty tip. "Has he given you any issues?"
"Not this past little bit. Knocked out cold and hasn't moved." She said.
"Thanks. I'll just drag him out of here." Dean said. He struggled to get Craig to his feet and out the door. He shoved him into the backseat and called John. "Hey, dad. I've got him. No, sir. Kate.. uh Kate found him and well he is asleep."
John growled. "I'll meet you. I'll handle him. You handle her."
Dean drove to a meeting spot and handed Craig off. "I am surprised you were this close by."
John pulled out of the car. "How long is he out?"
"I don't know." Dean said.
"Call your girl." John said.
Kate answered her phone. "Did you find him?"
Dean started to answer her but John took the phone from him.
"So you knocked him out?" John asked.
Kate dropped the shell in her hand. "Y.. yes sir."
"How long?"
"I can wake him up." She replied.
"Wait until Dean gets back to Bobby's and then wake him up." John said "And just to be clear... I mean for you to wait."
Kate swallowed hard. "Yes sir." She put her phone down and went back to shells.
Bobby watched her. "You are spilling more than you are getting in the shell."
Kate looked at him. "Nerves."
"How about you put those down and work on getting those clothes folded." He offered.
Kate gave him a weak smile and went to the laundry room. She folded all of the clothes and wiped down the counters in the kitchen. She heard the impala and briefly considered making a run for it.
Dean walked into the house found her. "Alright, wake him up."
Kate chewed her nails. "I need to call John first."
"He has him covered just wake him up." Dean said.
Kate side stepped along the wall. "He is going to be a little disoriented when he wakes up so I should probably just give John a heads up."
Dean pulled his phone out. "Why would he be disoriented?"
"You know sometimes being compelled just makes you loopy."
Dean looked at her. "That is lie number one. What did you do?"
John answered the phone. "What is it, Dean?"
Dean spoke. "Kate wants you to know that Craig will be...loopy... when he wakes up."
"I figured as much." John said.
Kate grimaced.
Dean put the phone on speaker. "She seems to think he will be more loopy than normal and was just about to tell me why."
"Why is that, Kate?" John asked.
Kate took a deep breath. "It is poetic really."
"Kate, what did you do?" John asked.
Kate chuckled nervously. "He's been in Taylor's shoes since I knocked him out."
Dean nearly dropped the phone. "Come again."
Kate pressed her back to the wall. "Turns out I can plant memories."
"Dean." John said in a low voice.
Dean took the phone off speaker. "Yes sir?"
"Nip that in the bud. Don't tell her but that is pretty poetic." John said.
Dean hid a smirk. "Yes sir. I'll have her wake him up now." He gave Kate a nod.
Kate centered herself and urged Craig to wake up.
Dean heard thrashing and John hung up the phone.
Kate stared at Dean. "You can't say he didn't deserve it."
Dean closed his eyes and willed himself not to look amused. He snapped his fingers and pointed to the kitchen.
Kate shuffled out of the laundry room and walked by Bobby.
"Well?" Bobby asked.
Dean pinched the bridge of his nose. "She didn't just compel him. She planted a memory that she describes as 'being in Taylor's shoes' and he hasn't been just sleeping."
Bobby furrowed his brows. "That's..."
"Poetic." Dean said.
"Yeah. Poetic."
