Kate used napkins to soak up the blood coming from her hand. Why wasn't she healing? She was so screwed. She couldn't let Dean know in front of Jo. Yet, if she waited, he'd get mad. She had already waited, assuming that the cut would heal. She held her breath and tried to calm herself down. Why the hell wasn't it healing? "How much longer until we are at the Roadhouse?"
Dean looked at her in the mirror. "Not long."
Kate nodded and schooled her face.
Dean slowed the car down and reached back to pat her knee. "Are you ready to talk?"
Kate shook her head, not wanting to humiliate herself in front of Jo.
Dean sighed. "Suit yourself."
Kate looked out the window and squeezed her hand. She let a few tears fall. "Dean?"
"Yeah?"
"Can you stop the car for a minute?" Kate asked.
Dean shrugged and pulled over.
Kate got out and asked Jo to stay in the car. She moved away from the window so Jo couldn't see and hung her head.
"What is up?" Dean asked.
Kate took a deep breath and pulled her hand from behind her back.
Dean was confused. He pulled the napkins away from her hand and hissed. "What happened?"
Kate slowly shook her head and looked down at her feet.
Dean's breath hitched. "You did this to yourself?"
Kate shifted uncomfortably.
"Katelyn." Dean said.
Kate looked up and whined. "You said you understood."
Dean raised an eyebrow. "I also told you to tell me if you had those feelings."
Kate pulled her hand back. "I just did."
Dean put a hand on the car beside Kate's head. "You are telling me after you did it. If it had healed, would you have told me?"
Kate looked back down.
Dean groaned and got the first aid kit from the trunk. He washed the wound and paused to glare at Kate. "This is deep."
Kate whimpered.
"If this doesn't heal, you are going to need stitches." Dean said.
Kate rolled her eyes. "It isn't that bad."
"It is that bad. This isn't a scratch." Dean said. "Do not roll your eyes at me."
Kate closed her eyes so she wouldn't roll them. "It will heal."
"Well, it hasn't yet." Dean said.
Kate sighed. "Just wrap it."
Dean clenched his jaw. "You and I are going to have a very long talk when we get to the Roadhouse."
Kate glared at him. "This is why I don't tell you shit."
Dean quickly wrapped Kate's hand and put the supplies back.
Kate huffed and turned to open her door.
Dean grabbed her arm. "Nope, not yet."
Kate was upended over his leg before she could slip away from him.
Jo jumped when she heard Dean's hand connect with Kate's bottom. She had heard them speaking, although it was just mumbled. She didn't expect him to swat her.
Kate screeched and tried to push herself off of his leg. "Let me go!"
"This is a preview." Dean said. He paid extra attention to her sit spots and thighs. "You do not back talk me and you do not swear at me."
Kate could feel the sting getting worse but was too angry to care. She gritted her teeth and continued to try to escape his hold.
Jo cringed. For a 'roadside attitude adjustment', that was pretty hard.
Dean put Kate on her feet. He opened her door and shoved her toward the backseat.
Kate was breathing heavily from the physical tole that her failed escape took. She was also angrier and Dean was her number one target.
Dean turned around. "Straighten up. Anything you do is going to make it that much worse."
Kate leaned forward, getting closer to his face, proving she wasn't going to put up with his scare tactics. "I told you about the injury and then you yell at me and lite into me on the side of the freaking road. Great job. Seriously."
Dean counted to ten in his head and pulled back onto the road. He had made her angrier but he wasn't going to let her be a brat.
Jo chanced a glance at Kate but Dean flicked her leg, causing her to turn back around.
He subtly shook his head and flicked his eyes toward the road.
Jo held up her phone and pointed to it. "Want me to let her know we are almost there?"
Dean knew she was really asking if she should give Ellen a heads-up. "Yes."
Kate was fighting with herself over wanting to break down and being too angry to give herself that luxury.
Dean drove to the side of the Roadhouse and went through the back door. He told Kate to sit down and told Jo to get Ellen.
Ellen knew something was up but wasn't sure exactly what.
Dean sat down next to Kate. "Let me see your hand."
Kate rolled her eyes and held it up.
Dean unwrapped it and asked Ellen if she had a first aid kit.
Ellen sent Jo for the kit. "What happened?"
Kate looked away from both of them.
"She cut it with her knife." Dean said.
Ellen furrowed her brows. "How did you manage that?"
Kate didn't speak.
"She did it when we were in the car. However, it isn't healing like injuries normally do." Dean said.
Kate whipped her head around and glared at him.
Dean glared back. "She needs to know so she can help."
Ellen sighed. "Why would you cut your own hand, sweetie?"
When Kate didn't answer, Dean spoke up. "She has developed the habit of scratching up her leg. Usually, it heals so none of us knew about it. I don't know what sparked this one though."
Ellen opened the first aid kit that Jo brought back. "Well, let's get this taken care of."
Kate winced when she cleaned the cut. She still didn't know why it wasn't healing.
Ellen got the cut cleaned and got a better look at it. "This is deep, Kate."
Kate didn't respond.
Dean nudged her. "Don't be rude."
Kate's eyes flashed blue and she gritted her teeth.
Ellen stepped into another room with Dean. "What is her deal?"
"She has been in a mood. I don't know. I tried to get her to talk but she has shut me out. Her attitude just keeps getting worse." Dean said.
Ellen nodded. She went back to sit beside Kate and got a pack of butterfly bandages out of the kit. "If this doesn't heal by the time you get to Bobby's, he needs to stitch it up. These will hold for now."
Kate stared at the wall and didn't speak.
Ellen took a deep breath. "What is your deal?"
Kate didn't respond.
Ellen tilted her chin so she was looking into her eyes. "Something has you on edge. You might as well talk about it."
Kate jerked her head back. "If I wanted to, I would."
Ellen's face changed. "Don't you dare cop an attitude with me, young lady."
Kate scowled. "I'm fine."
Dean stepped back into the room when he heard Ellen raise her voice.
Ellen wrapped up Kate's hand. "You do not carve up your hand if you are fine."
Dean cleared his throat. "I told you that you are going to talk about it."
Kate pulled a face and tried to stand up.
Ellen pushed her back into the chair.
Kate's eyes flashed blue again. "Do not touch me."
Ellen leveled her with a stern expression. "Katelyn Winchester, you need to calm your little butt down."
Kate scooted her chair back. "I'm calm."
Jo whispered, "Mom."
Ellen turned to look at her. "Go work the bar."
Jo sighed and followed the order.
"Kate, you need to be respectful. I know you are angry at me but you know better." Dean said.
Kate got up and got into Dean's personal space. "Yeah, I'm angry at you!"
Ellen raised an eyebrow.
"I was calm about the cut until you swore at me and rolled your eyes." Dean said.
"No, you weren't."
Ellen touched Kate's arm. "Sit."
Kate whirled around. "Stay out of it!"
Dean met eyes with Ellen. "Do you have a room I can borrow?"
Ellen handed him the keys to the upstairs apartment.
Kate went willingly, only because she didn't want anyone to hear anything embarrassing.
Dean pointed to the sofa. "Take a seat."
Kate fell back onto the sofa and crossed her arms.
Dean paced. "Kid, I know you are fighting me because you are upset. You have something on your mind and are too damn stubborn to talk about it."
Kate shrugged.
Dean sat down and tossed her over his lap. "Let's break it down." he said and lit into her backside. "No matter what is going on with you or between us, you do not disrespect Ellen."
Kate gritted her teeth.
Dean kept going. "I'm just going to keep going until you acknowledge that I have spoken to you."
Kate groaned and buried her head in a pillow. She wasn't going to give in. She hoped his hand hurt.
Dean figured that she was trying to outlast him and that was fine. He focused on just her sit spots and landed three swats in one spot before moving.
Kate felt the first of her defenses crumbling.
Dean nodded in satisfaction.
Kate met her limit and cried out. "Okay, I'll talk."
Dean paused. "Go ahead."
Kate whimpered. "Let me up first."
"No. I gave you a chance to talk while sitting upright. This goes my way now." He returned to the spanking and kept going until she started to break down. He slowed down but didn't swat any softer than he had been.
Kate finally let herself cry and sobbed into Ellen's couch pillow. She wiggled and promised to change her attitude.
Dean sighed and finished up toasting her bottom. He shook his hand out and picked her up so she was sitting on his lap. "Kid, if you keep this crap up, I'm going to have arthritis before I'm 30."
Kate sniffled and let a small laugh out. "I'm sorry."
Dean rubbed her back. "Are you ready to talk?"
Kate just rested her head on him. "Not yet."
Dean shifted.
Kate squeaked. "I will, I promise."
Dean sighed. "Give me an outline and then you can fill in the gaps when we are in a more comfortable setting."
Kate melted against him. "I really don't know. I got irritated but I think I'm confused. I keep having all of these visions and dreams and when I wake up, I can't quite remember them. I know there is something there but none of it makes sense. It is so frustrating and it gets to me."
Dean nodded. "How did that translate into slicing open your hand?"
Kate stiffened.
"None of what you just got was for cutting open your hand. That was for attitude." Dean said. "I am not thrilled you cut yourself and hid it but if I am going to crack down on you for it, it will be for lying about it and for not asking for help when help was available."
Kate shifted to look at him. "Well, that is confusing."
"Not really. Just think about it. I want us on the same page. I don't like being snapped at." Dean said.
Kate blushed. "I am really sorry."
Dean patted her leg. "You owe Jo and Ellen an apology and then we can hit the road."
Kate stood up and whimpered.
Dean smirked. "You made it worse for yourself. I told you I wouldn't stop until you decided to talk."
Kate scrunched her nose. "I was trying to hold out so your hand hurt."
Dean snorted. "I figured. For future reference, if my hand gives out, I'll just use something else."
Kate grimaced. "Noted."
Dean sat with her for a while. "You've got a lot more on your mind."
"I do but some of it, I don't know how to explain." Kate said.
"Okay, well we have to drive back to Bobby's house. We can work through it." Dean said.
Kate sighed. "One day, I hope this gets easier"
Dean patted her back. "I think it will."
Jo wrapped Kate in a hug when she came back downstairs. "Are you okay?"
Kate groaned. She shot Dean a look. "I'm okay."
"You aren't as prickly," Jo said.
Kate smirked. "Yeah."
Jo let go of Kate and flicked Dean's ear when she walked by him. She gave him a look and went back to the bar.
Dean rubbed his ear. "Thanks for that."
Ellen stepped into the side room with Kate. She swatted her once before crushing her in a hug.
Kate yelped. "What was that for?"
Ellen held her at arm's length. "For having an attitude with me. You are lucky Dean got ahold of you." She pulled her back for another hug.
Kate grunted. "I don't feel lucky."
Ellen chuckled. "You are a good kid, Kate. I don't want to hear that you've hurt yourself again. Dean really does care and you need to open up more."
Kate looked down at her hand. "Sometimes things just don't make sense in my head."
"I know. You are at a hard age. It is worse since you have other things going on. Now, you best start talking. If you don't feel like you can tell one of them, you know my number. You can talk to Jo too. Lord knows she has done enough in her life that she won't judge you. You can't grow up and save the world if you can't make it through childhood in one piece."
Kate sighed. "I'm sorry I yelled at you."
Ellen brushed the stray hairs from Kate's eyes. "It is okay. I know you were struggling." She squeezed her firmly. "If Dean gives you too much trouble let me know. I'd be happy to straighten him out too."
Dean was leaning against the door facing. He scoffed. "I don't think I need to be straightened out."
Kate turned her head and smiled.
Ellen gave Kate a wink. "Boys mature slower than girls."
Dean put a hand on Kate's back. "I better get you out of here before she puts too many thoughts in your head."
Ellen gave him a hug. "Drive safe."
"Yes, Ma'am." Dean said. He started the car and waited for Kate to get in. "Do you want to take a nap or start explaining?"
Kate scrunched her nose. "We could listen to your awesome music."
Dean ruffled her hair. "Not one of your options."
Kate shifted to get comfortable. "Have you ever gotten a song in your head but you don't know the words? You just know two notes and you know it is an obvious song but you cannot figure out what song it is."
Dean nodded. "Yes."
Kate pulled her notebook out. "I have these drawings but none of it makes sense to me."
Dean looked at the intricate lines and squinted his eyes. "Could it be like the bite mark? You may have to rip them out and piece them together."
Kate shrugged. "I don't know. That is part of my frustration."
"Well, we can look at that when we get home." Dean offered.
"There are brief "clues" that pop up but it goes so fast that I can't process. Like, there is a scent that I have smelled before. It hits me and then is gone. It is kind of sweet but not like a normal sweet smell."
Dean rubbed his face. He could see why she was struggling. "So write that down."
Kate wrote down the smell. "How does that help?"
"We can look at it from a hunter's standpoint. Sometimes, tiny things help make the bigger picture easier to see."
"My blood is important," Kate said. "I think that is part of the reason slicing open my hand calmed me down."
Dean nodded again. "That doesn't mean that doing that is okay."
"No. I know. I just can't get it out of my head. The more I think about it, the more I think that I really am a donor baby." Kate said.
Dean sighed. "I don't like that."
"Well, tough." Kate said with a smirk.
Dean poked her side. "I get frustrated too. If things happen by chance, I can deal with that. If all of this is happening because someone has designed the situation, that just doesn't sit right with me."
"I feel like that too. I wish life was normal sometimes. Other times, I don't mind the weird stuff but wish I had answers." Kate said.
Dean agreed with that. "I know I have said it before but you can talk to me. I don't want to have to kick your butt because you are so lost in your head that you can't control your behavior. That isn't good for either of us."
"Why is this so much easier for Taylor?" Kate asked. She studied her hands and chewed her cheek.
Dean wondered when Taylor would come up. "I think it is hard in different ways. He doesn't have as many visions as you do."
"Why though?" Kate asked.
"I don't know. You got your abilities before he did. You have had the vision part of those abilities for a while." Dean said.
"I don't want it anymore. I'm sick of having visions." Kate said.
"We can see if Cas knows a way to block your abilities," Dean said.
Kate scoffed. "No. I'm going to use them for good. I just want to whine for now."
Dean laughed. "Okay."
"It is a lot of responsibility," Kate said.
"I know it is."
"You have a lot of responsibility too." Kate said.
Dean smiled. "Just a bit."
"I'm sorry you got handed the nuclear launch codes." Kate said.
Dean smirked. "More like the nuke itself."
"Rude." Kate said.
Dean nudged her arm. "I'm kidding, kind of."
"It is scary."
"What is?" Dean asked.
"Being the nuke," Kate said. She looked back at her hands. "It is scary having abilities. I could hurt people."
"You won't though," Dean said. "You have morals."
Kate sighed. "All it takes is one wrong move."
"Well, that is why I am sort of hard on you. I want you to gain control of yourself now, so it isn't so hard later on." Dean said.
Kate yawned. "Learning sucks."
Dean patted the seat. "Lay down. Get a nap. We will be home in a few hours."
Kate balled up a blanket and put it beside Dean's leg. She put another one over her shoulders and smiled contentedly.
Dean placed a hand on the side of her head. She went from biting his head off to happily curled up beside him. He furrowed his brows. She was a lot like a cat.

John parked his truck at the side of a building and got out. "Stay right with me."
Taylor didn't need to be told twice. "Yes, sir."
"Since we don't know what the object is, we need to watch our step." John explained.
"Well, it would need to be something old and Native." Taylor said.
"Correct but it may not always be like that." John said. He used a map of the area to narrow down where such an object could be. "All of the deaths are spread out."
Taylor looked at the map. "So we should figure out where each person was before their death."
"Yes." John said. He watched Taylor piece it together. "Can you see things?"
Taylor blinked. "What?"
"When you are putting together the proverbial puzzle, are you seeing the items in front of you or are you imagining them?" John asked.
"Oh, uh, some things I can see." Taylor said.
John just nodded.
"Is that bad?" Taylor asked.
John raised an eyebrow. "Don't question yourself. It is a useful skill."
Taylor straightened his shoulders. "Yes, it is."
"I know Craig did a number on you. I am pleased that you are respectful and have a good head on your shoulders. You have to grow a spine though." John said.
Taylor stopped walking. "I wasn't aware that I didn't have one."
John smirked and turned around. "I am not comparing you to Kate. Let me start by saying that. She is too confident at times. However, when she can stare down a demon without showing an ounce of doubt."
Taylor started to hang his head but stopped himself. "I felt confident when I captured Azazel and sunk those arrows."
"You were angry. I am not knocking you down. You wanted to learn, so this is how you learn." John said and kept walking.
Taylor followed him but wasn't quite sure what the lesson was. "Are you saying I'm only confident when I'm angry?"
"That is one way to put it. You have a lot of reasons to be confident. As you get older, confidence will get you far. I don't want you to continue the habit of shrinking anytime someone questions you."
"I have to ask, is your... um... "
"Attitude, demeanor?" John said.
"Yeah, that. Is that learned or is it really a Winchester thing?" Taylor asked.
John chuckled. "Partially learned."
Taylor stopped walking. "Everything up here is run down. There are a few historic markers. People come through here all the time. So I think that it is one of the less popular sites or the people who died were disrespectful in some way."
John clapped him on the back. "You're a natural."
Taylor felt a surge of pride. "Maybe we should check out each site."
John followed the path to the first area. "This was just a school building."
Taylor walked around the remaining wall. "Too many people come by here for this to be the problem."
They continued up the path.
Taylor scanned the area with his eyes. "Shouldn't a cursed object have a purpose? Shouldn't it have been made to repel people from the sacred ground?"
"We have no way of knowing," John said.
"I bet it is the holy ground," Taylor said. "It has to be."
"Walk carefully." John said.
Taylor matched John's steps until they got to an area marked as a place of gathering. "I can feel it."
John paused. "What are you feeling?"
Taylor frowned. "Sadness."
John couldn't feel anything but he didn't have abilities.
Taylor stepped closer to a pile of stones and grimaced. One stone had intricate drawings on it. It was cracked and pieces of it were laying on the ground. "This is it."
"Don't get too close to it." John said.
"What do we do with it? It looks like someone broke it. Maybe the people that died stole parts of the rock." Taylor said. He felt a deeper emotion that he couldn't quite place. "Usually, when you find a cursed object, what do you do with it?"
"Destroy it." John said.
Taylor studied the rock. "We can't destroy this."
John had other hunts but was purposeful in his decision to bring Taylor along for that one. "What do you suggest?"
"What do I suggest?" Taylor asked. He looked John in the eye and reminded himself about the confidence. "We need to take it to the local reservation or have one of their elders come up here."
John held up his phone.
Taylor sighed. "You already thought of that."
"You are learning." John reminded him.
"Do you already have someone coming up here?" Taylor asked.
"No, he is on standby. Why don't you give him a call?" John said.
Taylor hid his nervousness. He held his hand out for the phone. "Why didn't he come up here instead of us?"
"He is an old friend. He is getting older and didn't want to run into a ghost or something of that sort." John explained.
Taylor made the phone call and sat down beside John while they waited for the friend to show up. "My nana told me all of the true stories."
"Which ones?" John asked.
"The stuff we learn in school sugar coats all of it. You know, the whole Christopher Columbus, settlers were best friends with the Indians... that stuff." Taylor said.
"Bobby has several books on that. With hunting, you'll learn the truth about a lot of things." John said.
Taylor rolled a pebble between his fingers. "Why are humans so evil?"
"Not all are. Just some." John said.
An older man made his way to the spot where they were sitting. "John."
John got up and greeted him. "This is Taylor."
The man smiled. "I've heard a bit about you."
Taylor was shocked. "You have?"
"Yes, I have. Can you show me where this rock is?" He asked.
Taylor showed him the way and knelt beside the pile of rocks. "I think someone broke it to get pieces of it."
The man stooped down and gently took hold of the rock. He ran his fingers over the designs. "This wasn't clearly visible before."
Taylor looked at the ground. "Maybe something or someone knocked over the top part."
The man nodded. He walked with them, back down to the vehicles. "Thank you, John. Thank you, Taylor."
John put a hand on Taylor's shoulder. "If you need anything else, just call."
Taylor bit his cheek. He cleared his throat before the man got into his car. He would usually apologize before asking but decided to just ask. "Do you have stories about your ancestors?"
The man smiled. "Yes."
"Would it be okay if I called sometimes? I want to know the truth." Taylor said.
The man smiled again and nodded at John. "He's a good boy, John."
Taylor soaked in the compliment.
"I will have some books sent to your house. You may call me at any time."
Taylor thanked him and stepped back.
John squeezed his shoulder. "Much better."
Taylor sighed. "That obvious?"
"The next hunt I have is not going to be this easy. Do you want to go?" John asked.
Taylor nodded quickly. "Yes, sir."

Bobby collected the kittens from Jody's house and brought them inside his own house. He was more of a dog person but the kittens had been a nice touch to the house. He answered phone calls and got back to work on research. He'd charge for his services if most hunters weren't flat broke.
Andy was quickly bored at home. "When can we go back to Ms. Marie's?"
"Maybe this summer." April said.
Andy looked outside. "Summer is forever away, isn't it?"
April smiled. "No. Just a few months."
"Months are long." Andy said.
Caleb promised him that they would do something the next day.
Andy put his stuff away and looked out his bedroom window. He saw a man standing outside on the sidewalk. He started to wave but the man disappeared. Maybe he was seeing things.
Sam and Jess didn't stop as many times on the way back but Jess did book a hotel halfway through. "Next time, we fly."
Sam rubbed her back. "The drive isn't that bad."
Jess rolled her eyes. "If you are used to riding around the country."
Sam tossed his bag in the floor. "Hot tub and a back rub?"
Jess grinned. "Yes."

Kate woke up a few hours later. "How close are we?"
"I'd say an hour," Dean said.
"Can we get something to eat?" Kate asked.
Dean looked at the upcoming exit sign. "Yeah, burgers?"
"Yep." Kate said. "Greasy ones."
Dean found a diner and stopped.
They chatted while they ate. Kate seemed better.
Dean was glad that she was back to normal. He liked normal Kate.
Kate was mid-sentence when her head whipped around so fast that her neck popped.
Dean nudged her foot with his foot. "What is it?"
Kate's eyes were wide and worried.
Dean squeezed her hand. "Talk to me."
Kate forced herself to smile. "Just bit my cheek."
Dean studied her eyes. Something was wrong but she couldn't say what.
Kate made a checkmark with her fingers to ask Dean to ask for the check. She stayed outwardly calm while he paid for the food.
Dean stayed right by her as they walked to the car. "What is it?"
Kate froze in one spot.
Dean could see the vein on her neck pulsing. He put a hand on his knife and looked around.
Kate tilted her head and took a shaky step toward the car.
Dean got her to the car and shut the door. "What are you seeing?"
Kate let out the breath she was holding. "Hellhounds."
Dean whipped his head around. "Where?"
Kate motioned. "One ran by when we were eating. The other is just sitting there."
Dean pulled away from the diner. "You can see them?"
"I guess so." Kate said.
"We walked right by one?" Dean asked.
Kate nodded.
"So it wasn't after us." Dean said.
Kate sighed. "I think it was watching us. It seemed surprised that I could see it."
"Can they get surprised?" Dean asked. He was freaking out on the inside but trying to keep her calm.
"I don't know." Kate said.
Dean wracked his brain. "It wasn't aggressive?"
"No. It just sat there. I thought it was going to lunge but it just... sat there." Kate said.
Dean groaned. "Crowley."
Kate tilted her head.
"He showed up at April's old house. He also showed up when we got attacked by hellhounds." Dean said.
"So he is after us?" Kate asked.
Dean rubbed his face. "He is... odd. He didn't sic the mutts on us. He didn't hurt us. Apparently, we have common enemies."
Kate pulled her boots off and placed her feet on the dashboard. "He can control them?"
"I think so." Dean said. "He called them off when we were in the woods. Of course older you showed up and demanded that he do that."
Kate raised both eyebrows. "How did I do that?"
"I don't know. Older you knew some things that you didn't want to share." Dean said.
Kate bit her lip. "Why can I see them?"
"I don't know." Dean said. "Maybe it is a good thing."
"Maybe I'm seeing the veil." Kate said.
Dean shoved her. "Don't say that. You have abilities. Any one of those abilities could make you see the hounds."
Kate was deep in thought for a while. "Maybe I'm more demon than we thought."
"No, you are just Kate." Dean said.
"I think I'm having a midlife crisis." Kate said.
Dean chuckled. "Maybe just a crisis."
Kate's head started to hurt. "I just want answers."
"I know. We are working on it. We know more than we did when you were eight." Dean said.
"My dad would hate what I have become." Kate said.
Dean slowed the car down. "Hey, no he would not. He knew you had abilities."
Kate dropped her feet. "He'd be humiliated."
Dean popped Kate's thigh. "No he wouldn't."
Kate rubbed her leg. "He expected me to listen better than I do. He didn't like when I talked back. He was barely comfortable when I had basic abilities. Now, I'm an actual supernatural creature."
"Kid, you are better behaved than most kids. You are held to a higher standard because obedience can be life or death for us. You have so much on your plate. Of course, you are going to mouth off and do stuff from time to time. Do you think I was too hard on you earlier?" Dean asked.
Kate sighed. "No. I was really rude and in my head."
"All of that was to get you out of your head. I do have to correct you when you are a brat but that is everyone." He felt pained that she thought so lowly of herself. "You aren't a creature."
"I am though. I'm not fully human." Kate said.
"Kate." Dean warned.
"Before I showed up, you guys would have hunted me. Hell, that Gordon guy is hunting Taylor. Jacob, or whatever his name is knows about Nephilian." Kate said.
"All of this runs pretty deep, doesn't it?" Dean asked.
Kate nodded.
"We wouldn't have hunted you. Gordon has no idea what he is looking at. If you saw someone get thrown, you'd raise some questions. You haven't hurt anyone. You stay to yourself. I think we need to sit down and discuss this in depth."
Kate shot him a look.
Dean shook his head. "No, I mean talk with words and words only. I'll even give you full immunity. You can tell me absolutely anything and the most I will do is talk you through it."
Kate cracked her knuckles and leaned back in the seat. "Anything?"
Dean smirked. "Anything."
"My history teacher gets stuck on a topic sometimes and goes on and on. If everyone is dying of boredom I get him to tell us a story about himself." Kate said.
Dean scoffed. "By compelling him?"
Kate nodded.
Dean eyed her.
"You can't get mad. I have full immunity." Kate said with a smile.
Dean pinched the bridge of his nose. "This is going to bite me in the ass, isn't it?"
Kate grinned. "Yep."
