CHAPTER SIXTEEN: MAXIM VS. JURA

The second match soon began as Ren and Arana started battling, but it soon ended as Ren used his Air Magic to defeat her. "Next up, the third match of day one! War Cry of Quatro Cerberus versus Orga Nanagear of Team Sabertooth!" Chapati announced as the audience went wild.

"There he is!"

"It's Orga!"

"Kick his ass!"

"Listen to those cheers! The crowd loves him!" Chapati exclaimed.

"Oh, it's War Cry." Kross hummed. "This guy's magic always amazes me."

"Certainly, it is amusing." Nox agreed.

"Let the third match begin!" The sound of the gong rang out as the match started. War Cry and Orga stared at each other. Then War Cry started crying. "There it is! War Cry's Tear Magic!" Chapati announced as Yajima nodded.

"That's a funny phrase, isn't it?" He asked.

"He's crying!" Natsu exclaimed.

"Tear Magic?" Erza questioned.

"What kind of magic is that?!" Elfman asked.

War Cry continues crying. "The more I cry... the stronger I get!" He said.

Suddenly, Orga attacks him with black lightning as everyone stares in shock. War Cry falls to the ground, defeated. Sting just smirked to himself.

"Lightning..." Laxus muttered. Lector and Frosch high fived each other. Lily and Happy were both trembling.

"L-Lightning?!" Lily stuttered, covering his ears.

"One... attack..." Happy mumbled.

"The match is over! Literally, in a flash! Orga's Black Lightning fried the tears instantaneously!" Chapati said.

"What was that?!"

"Instantaneously?!"

"H-He's a monster!"

"He's strong! I mean, really strong! The winner is Orga Nanagear of Sabertooth!" Chapati announced. "That brings their total to 20 points! A perfect first day! Quatro Cerberus has two points! Too bad!"

"Couldn't you have made it more fun, Orga?!" Sting questioned.

"I'll sing a song." Orga replied, walking back to the arena.

"That's not what I meant!" Sting exclaimed.

Orga then began to sing a song as the audience was laughing.

"Alright, it's time for the final match of the first day." Chapati said.

"The teams that are left are Black Sun Team B and Lamia Scale, right?" Yajima asked.

"Long ago, these two guilds were about equal in terms of talent, so this should be an interesting match!" Jenny said.

"Okay, I'll announce the first day's final fight match-up!" Chapati stated. "It's Maxim Dumas of Black Sun B versus Jura Neekis of Lamia Scale!" The audience went wild at this match-up.

"There he is!"

"Jura!"

"I've been waiting to see Jura!"

"I never thought he'd participate from the first day!"

Sebastian chuckled to himself. "Stone Titan Maxim and Iron Rock Jura, huh?" He muttered, getting his teammates attention as Sebastian rested his arms on the balcony. "Keep your eyes on this match. It'll be an interesting one."

"What do you mean?" Daegon questioned.

"Maxim and Jura-san are both users of Earth Magic." Sebastian replied. "I always wondered which one is stronger."

Jura headed out to the arena. "Good luck, Jura-san!" Sherria waved.

"This match is as good as over." Yuka commented.

"It hasn't even started yet!" Toby exclaimed.

"I know that. Stifle yourself." Yuka said. Jura entered the arena as the audience cheered for him.

"It's Jura!"

"Jura's here!"

"It's the real thing!"

"This is unlucky." Kross sighed.

"Going up against Jura..." Helena muttered.

"I don't think we have nothing to worry about." Nox reassured. "After all, Maxim and Jura both possess similar magic. Go out there win, Maxim."

Maxim sent him a nod before heading out into the arena, facing Jura.

"Personally, I'm rooting for Black Sun, but our Obaba is really strict about that..." Jura said as it went silent for a moment before he continued. "My apologies, but I'm not going to hold back here."

Maxim said nothing to him.

"Jura Neekis of Lamia Scale versus Maxim Dumas of Black Sun B! Let the final match of the day... begin!" Chapati shouted as the gong rang out.

Jura soon placed Earth pillars in front of him as Maxim got thrown into the air. "Wow!" Natsu exclaimed. More pillars were soon shown as Maxim dodged them all, running down one before soon landing on the ground and looking up.

"Devouring Earth!" Maxim called out, using his magic to control to control the stones and rocks in the arena before creating several enormous jaws made out of earth as it headed towards Jura.

"Don't tell me..." Lyon started to say as his eyes widened.

"That guy has the same magic as Jura-san?!" Sherria finished.

"Iron Rock Wall!" Jura shouted, blocking the jaws from attacking him. "I'm a bit surprised. I've never encountered someone with similar magic to me."

Maxim gathered a large amount of magic in the sky. "Meteor Strike!" He shouted, causing a meteor to be sent rocketing towards the earth and towards Jura.

"Rock Mountain!" Jura called out as a rock monster protected him from the attack.

The two attacks colliding soon created a smoky explosion in the arena as the wind picked up. "Stalagmite of the Earth!" Maxim shouted, using his magic to condense soil and rock into the area, causing it to sprout out in the form of four large spikes that attacks from four separate directions.

Jura used Iron Rock Wall to block it again. However, one of the spikes attacked him from behind, sending him crashing into the arena wall. When the smoke disappeared, Jura was knocked out as the gong rang.

"I don't believe it, but Jura is down!" Chapati announced as everyone was in shock - including Lamia Scale. "The winner is Maxim Dumas of Black Sun Team B!"

Everyone cheered as Lamia Scale's guild master ended up spinning a guild member that was nearby.

"Jura was defeated...? Just like that?" Lyon asked, shocked that one of Lamia Scale's strongest wizards was defeated.

"Black Sun is as skilled as I remember..." Yuka commented.

"Maxim Dumas... I believe he is one of Black Sun's elite wizards that the others have mentioned." Erza said.

"And there are five others just like him?" Elfman questioned with a scared look.

Natsu pounded his fists together. "Sounds fun!" He exclaimed.

"And with this, the first day of the Grand Magic Games comes to a close! Here's the overall ranking!" Chapati said as the scoreboard appeared.

"What do you think, Yajima-san? It's no surprise that Sabertooth is number one." Chapati continued. "On the other hand, Fairy Tail, who has two teams, are in last place."

"It's still the first day. I'm hoping for a comeback drama from tomorrow on." Yajima stated.

"And my guild still has a shot at victory. I can't wait for day two!" Jenny added on.

"Yajima-san, Jenny-san, thank you very much for your commentary today."

"Thank you."

"See you all again!"
