Prologue: A Wish and a Fated MeetingNaruto stared blankly at the cold stone walls of Hōzuki Castle as a harsh wind whipped through the narrow corridors. His wrists were raw from the iron shackles biting into his skin, and the bruises from his failed escape attempt throbbed with every step.
The Blood Prison. That's what they called it. The final stop for criminals, traitors, and anyone deemed too dangerous to remain free. Naruto never thought he would end up here, especially not for a crime he didn't commit.
His head hung low as the guards shoved him forward. Their sneers and muttered curses scraped against his already-frayed nerves, but he said nothing. What could he say? No one had listened when he pleaded his innocence.
The memories of his trial played on a loop in his mind, each moment sharper than the last. The accusations. The cold stares of the village elders. The silence from those he trusted.
"The Raikage was almost assassinated, and you were the only one unaccounted for at the time," one elder had said, his voice heavy with judgment.
"We have no choice but to imprison him. He's a danger to us all," another chimed in.
No one spoke in his defense. Not even Tsunade.
The pain of that silence cut deeper than any wound.
Ahead of him loomed a massive, ancient artifact—an ornate box pulsing with an eerie, faint light. The air around it felt wrong, heavy with something unspoken yet suffocating.
"The Box of Ultimate Bliss," one of the guards muttered, as if the name alone carried weight.
"This is your end, Uzumaki," Mui, the prison warden, sneered as he stepped forward. "A fitting punishment for a traitor."
Naruto's fists clenched, his nails digging into his palms. "I'm not a traitor," he hissed through gritted teeth.
But his protests fell on deaf ears.
The guards forced him to his knees as the box creaked open, revealing nothing but darkness inside. It seemed to breathe, its whispers faint but unmistakable. Naruto felt the air around him shift as if the box were alive, watching, waiting.
"Goodbye, Uzumaki," Mui said coldly.
The last thing Naruto saw was the lid of the box closing, its darkness swallowing him whole.
Darkness.
It wasn't like closing your eyes or being in a room with no light. This darkness was alive, pressing against his skin, his lungs, his very soul.
Naruto floated weightlessly, his body unresponsive. Time lost all meaning. Days could have passed, or perhaps mere moments. He couldn't tell.
His thoughts spiraled in the suffocating silence.
"How did it come to this?"
He thought of his friends, his village, the promises he had made to himself and others. He thought of Team 7—Sakura's fiery determination, Kakashi's quiet wisdom, Sasuke's sharp glare.
Sasuke.
Naruto's chest tightened. Sasuke had betrayed the village and still, Naruto had fought tooth and nail to bring him back. But when it was his turn to be accused, no one had done the same for him.
He tried to push the memories away, but they kept resurfacing, louder and sharper each time.
That's when the whispers began.
At first, they were faint, like the rustle of leaves in the wind. Slowly, they grew louder, taking form.
"Do you wish to be free?"
Naruto froze, his breath hitching. The voice was deep and resonant, echoing from everywhere and nowhere.
"Who's there?" he called out, his voice trembling.
"I am a reflection of your desires," the voice replied, calm yet cold. "Your hope. Your despair. Make a wish, and I shall grant it."
Naruto's brow furrowed. "A wish? What kind of trick is this?"
"No trick. Only truth. You have been cast aside, betrayed by those you once held dear. Do you not long for freedom? For a new beginning?"
Naruto clenched his fists. The voice's words stung because they were true.
Days—or maybe weeks—passed as the whispers continued, relentless and unyielding. They wore him down, the isolation gnawing at the edges of his sanity.
Finally, in a moment of desperation, Naruto whispered, "I just… want a different life."
The darkness trembled. The whispers turned into a deafening roar, and a blinding light erupted from the void. Naruto felt himself being pulled apart and reassembled, his surroundings melting into chaos.
When Naruto awoke, the first thing he noticed was the sound of birds. It was distant but unmistakable, a stark contrast to the suffocating silence of the box.
His eyes fluttered open, and he squinted against the sunlight streaming through a canopy of leaves. The air smelled fresh, tinged with the faint aroma of wildflowers and moss.
Groaning, he pushed himself to his feet. His muscles ached, but the pain was almost comforting—proof that he was alive.
"What… is this place?" he muttered, glancing around.
The forest was unlike anything he had ever seen. Trees with glowing leaves swayed gently in the breeze, and strange creatures darted between the underbrush. The faint hum of magic lingered in the air, a sensation that was both foreign and oddly familiar.
As he stumbled through the woods, Naruto's thoughts raced. Was this some kind of genjutsu? Had the box transported him to another dimension?
His musings were interrupted by the distant sound of voices.
Curious, he followed the noise until he reached the edge of a clearing. What he saw made his heart ache.
A girl with white hair and piercing blue eyes stood protectively in front of two younger children—a boy and a girl. The boy clutched his sister's hand, while the girl clung to the older girl's leg.
The eldest girl's expression was fierce, but Naruto could see the fear in her eyes.
"Stay back!" she shouted, her hands glowing faintly with magic.
Naruto raised his hands in a gesture of peace. "I'm not here to hurt you," he said gently.
The girl narrowed her eyes. "Who are you? What do you want?"
"My name's Naruto," he replied. "I was just passing through. What happened here?"
The girl hesitated, glancing at her siblings before answering. "The villagers… they called us demons. They drove us out after I—" She cut herself off, her voice cracking.
Naruto's gaze softened. "You protected them, didn't you? And they turned on you anyway."
Her eyes widened in surprise. "How did you—"
"Because I've been there," Naruto said, his voice steady. "I know what it's like to be treated like a monster."
For the first time, the girl's stance relaxed. "I'm Mirajane," she said quietly. "These are my siblings, Elfman and Lisanna."
As the siblings ate the food Naruto had scavenged, they began to open up. Mirajane explained how she had awakened her magic—Take Over magic—and how the villagers had turned on them out of fear.
"You're not a demon," Naruto told her firmly. "Your magic isn't a curse—it's a gift. You just need to learn how to control it."
Mirajane's eyes sparkled with a mix of hope and uncertainty. "How?"
Naruto smiled. "It's not easy, but you're strong. I can see that."
Before parting ways, Naruto gave them one final piece of advice: "There's a guild called Fairy Tail. If you're looking for a place to belong, go there. You'll find a family who won't turn their backs on you."
Mirajane nodded, her expression softening. "Thank you… Naruto."
As Naruto watched the siblings disappear into the distance, he felt a strange sense of fulfillment. For the first time in what felt like forever, he had made a difference.
Standing alone in the forest, he looked toward the horizon. "A different life, huh?" he muttered. "Guess I'll see where this one takes me."
And with that, his journey in Earthland began.
