Both father and son were clearing out the dishes from tonight's dinner. Lyon places the dish neatly on the drying rack after Rad finishes washing each plate. "I'm excited for our camping trip tomorrow. Just for the two of us," said Lyon.
"That's great. I think we deserve time for ourselves," added Rad. He knew after everything they went through, he thought it would be a good time to spend quality time with each other. Slowly but surely they seem to have mended their relationship, and Rad wants to make sure their father and son day is the perfect one. "How about we go upstairs to clean our teeth, and get ready for bed?"
Lyon nodded, and then raced upstairs to the bathroom with Rad behind him. Before the red, blue heeler went in the bathroom, he cleared his throat. His nose felt a bit tingly, and throat was somewhat weird feeling. Lyon noticed his father making strange clearing throat noises all day. "Are you okay, dad? You sound off," asked Lyon. "No, I'm fine, mate. Just a bit of a frog in my throat, that's all," assured Rad.
Lyon simply shrugged and started brushing his teeth with his new mechanical toothbrush. He made sure to clean through the back teeth thoroughly to keep his teeth clean. Afterwards, he took his flossing kit, and made sure to clean each teeth gap to take out any food stuck between the teeth. "Make sure you floss each gap," mentioned Rad while placing his toothbrush in the cup. "I know," said Lyon.
After cleaning up before bed, Rad read Lyon a bedtime story on Jack and the Beanstalk. He imitated the voices for each character in the story while Lyon chuckled on his giant impersonation. "And so Jack successfully came down from the beanstalk, defeating the big bad giant by chopping the entire beanstalk down. He even managed to bring the golden goose egg so that he and his mum would live happily ever after with the riches he stole. The end," said Rad, closing the book. "Night-night Lyon. Get some rest so we can leave early to the camping grouds." The father patted his son's head and tucked him in his bed. "Night dad," said Lyon. But just as Rad left the room, he let out a small sneeze. "Ah man. I hope I'm not coming down with something."
Before he went to sleep, he went to the kitchen, and opened the cupboard where some of the medicine was stored. He took a pill meant to treat any cold symptoms during the night and swallowed it whole with water. Afterwards, he went straight to his bed, and then dozed off, hoping this was temporary symptoms.
Another fine morning in Brisbane, Australia, and everything seem to be quiet. Lyon simply read at his bed after waking up. He was looking forward for a father and son camping trip where he and Rad will spend quality time together. The wolf dog slowly moved his legs while sitting on his bed, with a peaceful smile. He sighed a bit, and then closed his book after finishing the last page. "I should go wake up dad," he told himself. He hoped off from his bed, and raced through the hallway.
He stood behind his adoptive father's door, and then knocked through the door. "Hey, dad. Today's our father and son camping day. Are you awake," asked Lyon exceedingly. However, there wasn't much said through the door. Lyon tilted his head and had a confused look by the silence. "Dad?"
Meanwhile, Rad slowly opened his eyes, feeling groggy and ill. He rubbed his eyes and sniffed with a congested nose. "Yeah, mate," asked Rad, with a raspy voice.
"Are you ready for our camping day? I sure am! I'm going to get started on packing my stuff, and be ready to eat breaky," said Lyon. Rad then remembered the trip he promised to Lyon, but under the circumstances, he didn't had the energy today. "Oh, sorry Lyon. I don't think that might be possible today. You see…AH-CHOO!" Lyon then heard the sniffling heeler and took this as a sign that he is ill. "Oh, you're sick," he asked worryingly.
"I'm afraid so, sport," said Radley disappointingly. "I'm sorry. I know you looked forward for our camping trip." Lyon simply shrugged off the fact that Rad is ill and decided to accept it. "No, I understand. You aren't feeling well, and it's not the end of the world if our trip is cancelled. I'll go get you some tea," said Lyon. "Nah, mate. You don't have to trouble yourself. I'll just go there myself. Make sure you don't get too close to me. Don't want you to catch my cold." Lyon simply nodded behind the door and decided to go downstairs to pour himself cereal. Rad turned on the kettle to boil some water for Chamomile tea. He sneezed through his elbow, and then reached out for a paper towel to blow some snot out.
"You don't sound so well," said Lyon. "Yeah, you don't have to tell me twice," added Rad. He then tossed the used paper towel in the trash, and leaned against the counter, feeling downtrodden that their trip was cancelled. "Sorry if things don't go the way as planned. I bet you were looking forward for our camping trip."
"It's not your fault, dad. Anyone can get sick," added Lyon while swallowing his cereal. "Besides, I bet you would tell me the same if I was sick too."
"Well….that's true," admitted Radley. The kettle made a whistling noise after the water reached its boiling temperature. Rad then reaches for the tea in the cabinet and places the tea bag in the hot water. He takes a few sips to cool it down, and sips through it. "How about I make you breaky in bed," asked Lyon.
"Oh, that's sweet of you, kid, but I wouldn't want you to use anything dangerous without supervision," said Rad.
"I won't use the stove. Besides, I can make you some toast with jam and peanut butter. I can use the toaster," said Lyon. Rad knew how his son was eager to take care of him, and did not want to turn his offer away. "Well, alright. Just as long as you only use the toaster only. Nothing more," said Rad. He sniffled, and then went back to his room. After Lyon finished his cereal, places a stepping stool to reach the sing, and he places his bowl in the sink, and washes the dish. Afterwards, he moves the stool to one of the cabinets, and grabs a loaf of wheat bread, peanut butter, and jam. The wolf dog prepares each ingredient on the counter, and then tries to use the toaster. "Hmm, I remember dad messed with the little knob on the toaster to adjust the heat." He then moved the knob forward, not realizing he turned the heat on high. He then places two bread pieces inside the toaster and pulls down the lever. Next, he walks towards the fridge, and grabs the orange juice gallon. The wolf dog pours a glass of fresh orange juice but accidentally spills some on the counter. "Oops. Better clean that," said Lyon. He then reaches for a paper towel, but accidentally pulls too many paper towers. "Ugh, I need one," he complained. He tugged the set and places a bunch of them over the spilled juice on the counter, and pat dries it.
"He should probably take some cold medicine," he muttered. The wolf dog then decided to ask Rad which bottle is the cold medicine. He went upstairs to check up on Rad, who look weak with his eyes half closed, and shivering. "Hey, dad. Which bottle is cold medicine? Have you taken it yet?"
"Oh, not yet mate. It's the maroon bottle with the white cap," said Rad. "Really appreciate you taking care of me," he said with a weak smile. Lyon grinned, and then raced back downstairs to find the medicine. He scanned through each bottle, and then saw the maroon bottle. "This one," he exclaimed. But just as he grabbed the bottle, he smelled a somewhat burned scent. The toaster popped out the two bread pieces, now looking somewhat burned black. "Oops," said Lyon. "Maybe it'll still taste good…" Just as he grabbed the toast, he felt the burning sensation of the toast. He yelped a bit, and the piece of toast flew in the air. He tried to grab it, but each time he touches it, it was very hot to hold. The toast then landed safely on the plate. "Phew, that was hot. Maybe I should use a paper towel to keep my hands from burning," said Lyon. The second piece of burnt toast he used a paper towel to not touch it. After letting the blackened toast cool down a bit, he spread some peanut butter and jam together on each side of the bread pieces.
Afterwards, he grabs the wooden bed tray to place the entire breakfast meal along with the cold medicine. He neatly places the toast in the middle of the tray, the juice on the right corner, and the medicine on the left corner. He carefully carries the breakfast meal upstairs.
Lyon knocked through the door to let Rad know his meal is ready. "Come in, Lyon," said a weak sounded Rad. The wolf dog slowly carried the meal to his father, and places it in the middle of the red heeler. "Breakfast is ready," said Lyon. Rad then looked at the breakfast meal; he can tell that the bread may have been overdone and was somewhat reluctant to take the first bite of burnt toast with peanut butter and jam, but he didn't want to hurt Lyon's feelings for trying to help. "Thank you, sport. This looks yummy." He took the first bite, and felt the dark, crunchy sound of burnt toast in his mouth with the bittersweet peanut butter and jam. He squinted his eyes, and swallowed the toast, letting out a weak grin. "Good stuff, mate," he said somewhat queasily, giving Lyon a thumbs up.
"Thanks. I hope you like it. Make sure you drink your medicine as well if you want to feel better," said Lyon. For the moment, Rad took his time to slowly consume the burnt breakfast, and afterwards gulp the juice down to wash down the dreadful burnt taste of toast. But overall, it was better than having nothing to eat. "I'd ask you if you want to play, but I know you need your rest if you want to recover your strength," mentioned Lyon. "Is it okay if I call my cousins through the tablet," asked Lyon. "Sure mate. Knock yourself out," said Rad. "Tablet is in the drawer, second storage," pointed out Rad. Lyon grabbed his father's tablet to make a phone call to Bluey and Bingo while Rad took some rest. He went downstairs to the living room where he would make his call to his cousins.
He sat down on the couch, and looked through the contact list. He then saw his uncle's name with a profile picture of his family, and clicked the call button. As the facey call rang through three times, he saw Bluey and Bingo on screen. "G'day girls," said Lyon waving hello.
"Hi, Lyon," said both the girls.
"Whatcha doing," asked the wolf dog, wondering what the sisters are up to for today.
"We're playing Sheepdog with dad. We were about to feed him some grass," said Bluey. Lyon heard the distinct baa sounds of his uncle through the background. "Oh, how interesting," said Lyon, knowing the girls' shenanigans with their dad. "How about you? What are you doing," asked Bingo.
"Oh, I'm just here at home. Taking care of dad. He has a cold, and we were suppose to go on our camping trip, but I don't think it's possible today," admitted Lyon.
"Aw, too bad," said Bluey. "No big deal. People get sick. It's a part of life," said Lyon. "Besides, I enjoyed making breakfast for him this morning. I made toast with peanut butter and jam."
"Oh, wow," said both girls, impressed by the responsible wolf dog. Just then, more baa sounds from outside were heard. "What could that sheep be doing now," said Bluey. She brought the tablet outside to check up on Bandit, who was jumping up and down from the trampoline. "Hey, sheeps don't go on trampoline," said Bluey with her hands on her hips. "What if we feed him more grass," asked Bingo.
"Uh, what is going on," asked Lyon, who was confused by the turn of events. "I think dad's just trying to keep me from seeing mum," said Bluey.
"Why," asked Lyon.
"Because she said she needed 20 minutes to herself without seeing anyone," said Bingo. Lyon wasn't sure but could hazard a guess by the sound of his aunt needing alone time from a stressful event. "Well, do you think she needs her time to herself," asked Lyon curiously. "My dad needs rest time due to having a cold, and I respect his wish without asking him to play with me right now. He needs to recover."
"Maybe, but I want to ask if I did something wrong," asked Bluey. Just then the doorbell was heard through the call. Immediately Bandit hopped off from the trampoline, and sprinted away.
"Hey, sheeps don't walk," called out Bluey. "Gotta go, Lyon. That sheepy is being a pickle."
"Oh, alright. Let me know how it goes," said the wolf dog. He then presses the red button on the screen to hang up. He huffed out a sigh, hoping he would have spent more time conversing with his cousins. He felt utterly bored, and didn't think he had anyone to talk to. Despite his understanding of his dad's health, he really wishes the camping trip wasn't canceled. Still, he was going to be a grown boy, and not be pouty over this situation.
He thought about playing on the tablet, but he pretty much played all the app games, and wasn't interested in playing them right now. He then recalled about finishing a jigsaw puzzle that was left in his room, so he decided to go upstairs to finish it. He even took the tablet with him. As he lied on his stomach, he was deeply engrossed in finishing the puzzle set of a world map with each continent, and any symbolic animals that represented each continent. "Okay, now all I need is North America. It should be the one with the bald eagle. Where has the piece gone," said Lyon to himself. He turned around where the puzzle box was located to see if the missing piece is inside.
Just as he was searching for the piece, he didn't find the lost piece. He scratched his head, unsure of where the missing piece was located. "Maybe I should ask dad. Oh wait, right…" He knew it would be a bad time to ask Rad to find the piece, who was probably sleeping right now. He sighed, and then decided to look for the piece on his own. He bends over to see if it was underneath his bed, but it was nowhere to be found.
He then searched through his closet, hoping it might be lost in the bundle of jumpers and shirts. No puzzle piece. Lyon then searched through his desk and couldn't see anything that looked like his missing North America puzzle piece. "Where could it be," he questioned.
He searched through the hallway to see if the missing piece was around but had no success. Although he was reluctant, he had no choice but to stealthily look into his dad's room. He slowly opened the door and saw Rad who was resting. He silently breathed, and hoped he doesn't make any noise to wake up the heeler.
He crouches down, and searches for the missing piece with haste; he even crawled under his father's nightstand. Just as he rose up, he hit his head on the table. "Ow," he grunted. Rad awoke from the mysterious thud noise, and then saw his son on the floor, rubbing his head from the nightstand. "Mate, what are you doing," he asked, bewildered by Lyon's behavior.
"Sorry dad. I'm looking for North America. You know, the puzzle piece for my world map set. It's missing. I've been trying to keep myself from getting bored, but it's hard," admitted Lyon. Rad understood Lyon's struggle. "Did you spoke with your cousins?"
"I did. For a moment, we talked, and they were playing Sheepdog with Uncle Bandit. And then he raced to the house, and that was the end of our call," explained Lyon. Rad wasn't sure about the Sheepdog game and his brother acting like a sheep, but he didn't want to ask further details, assuming the shenanigans. "So I thought maybe the piece is lost in your room," said Lyon. "I'm sorry. It was rude of me to disturb your rest."
"No worries. I understand you're trying your best to keep yourself entertained without making so much noise," said Rad. "You know, you could probably use a friend. Have you tried contacting your mate, Mackenize," asked Rad.
"He and his family are out of town for the weekend. So, it's not possible to go to his house or invite him here," said Lyon.
"I see. What about Jack and Rusty?"
"Rusty's family spending time with the dad who just got back from his army service, and I think Jack is sick as well," said Lyon, huffing out a sigh.
"Oh. Well, that's a bit of a problem," said Rad. "It's alright dad. I'll try to make it fun. I'll let you rest for now," said Lyon. He respectfully left the bedroom to leave the heeler rest. Radley pondered for a moment; he wondered how he could cheer up Lyon who was alone for most of the morning. Then he realized a solution. He reaches He reaches out for his phone next to him, and texts Frisky.
Text Messages:
Radley: Hey, Frisky. How are you?
Frisky: I'm well thank you. What's up?
Radley: Actually, I am coming down with a cold.
Frisky: Oh, dear. Are you fine?
Radley: Yeah, I'm still recovering. But I thought maybe if you aren't busy right now, you can come over and hang out with Lyon. We were supposed to go on a weekend camping trip with the two of us only, but my cold kind of ruined it. He doesn't have anyone to spend time with and I was wondering if you might come over.
Frisky: I would love to. Hopefully it'll keep his mind off from being alone.
Radley: Thanks, I'm sure he appreciates having you around.
Rad let out a comforting sigh, and was glad Frisky was willing to come over and babysit the wolf dog for a while. He closes his eyes, and smiles, knowing things will work out. Meanwhile, Lyon was lying down on his stomach on the sofa, switching the channels on the television in the living room. He was extremely bored since he had no one to hang out with. "I wonder if we'll ever go on a trip soon with no change of plans," he told himself. Just then, the door bell rang. Rad went downstairs while blowing his nose through a tissue. He opened the door, and then saw Frisky with her bag. "Hey, glad you can make it," said the stuffy heeler. "Goodness, you don't sound too well," added Frisky while facepalming her cheek. "It's just a-ACHOO! Cold…"
"Nope, you need to head back to bed sir. I'll take care of that stuffy nose," demanded Frisky while pointing him upstairs. Lyon then went to the entrance, and saw Frisky. "Frisky!"
"Hi, Lyon. You're dad told me to babysit you for today, but I think I have work cut out to tending your dad," said Frisky while hugging Lyon. "Oh, come on Frisky. You needn't trouble yourself in taking care of me," pleaded Rad, not wanting to be treated as if she was his mother.
"Nonsense, I'll whip up some soup for you. Trust me, I know how to take care of this," said Frisky. "You just go back to bed, and worry about recovering. I'll handle this."
"Well, fine by me then," added Rad while admitting defeat. As he went upstairs to return to his bedroom, Lyon's tails wags. "So what are we going to do today?"
"First thing first, I would like to make some hot soup for your dad, and medicine too. Then we can do something for fun. How does that sound," asked Frisky.
"Okay! Can I help with the soup?"
"Yes, you can. I'll need an assistant to help wash the vegetables." Lyon nodded, and both of them went to the kitchen to grab some of the ingredients and tools to cook some warm chicken soup. Frisky opens the food cabinet and grabs a chicken noodle can soup while Lyon opens the fridge and grabs a handful of vegetables
"I'll handle opening the can and cutting the vegetables. Your job is to rinse and wash each vegetable. Then place them on the cutting board for me to cut them," directed Frisky. Lyon took a carrot, and thoroughly rinsed the vegetable one by one. Frisky opens the can with a can opener and pours the chicken noodles into a steel pot. She pours some water in the pot, and turns on the stove.
After washing the vegetables, Lyon places them on the wooden cutting board. Frisky then chops each vegetable into small pieces with a knife, and pours them into the boiling pot of water. She then stirs the pot with a wooden spoon. "Your dad told me you and he were planning to go on a camping trip this weekend, yes," asked Frisky while occupied with the soup.
"Yes, to be honest I wish we had gone. But I understand these things happen," said Lyon, while watching the Cocker Spaniel cook. "Yeah, tough break," added Frisky. "But don't worry. We'll do what we can to cure your dad from his cold, and then we'll have some fun afterwards." Lyon smiled, and he prepared the tray for Rad's soup to be placed on. He puts more cold medicine, vitamin powder, and silverware.
The soup was ready, and Frisky poured some on a bowl. After the two have prepared the tray, they head upstairs to give Rad his lunch and medicine. "Dad, your soup is ready," said Lyon knocking the door. "Come in," said Radley. With both in the room, Frisky places the tray on Rad's nightstand. "I've made some hot chicken noodle soup with vegetables. There's also some medicine and vitamins to take to help fight that nasty cold," explained Frisky.
"Oh, thanks you two. This means a lot," said Radley gratefully. "It's no big deal. We had fun making the soup," added Lyon with a grin. "Promise you'll eat every bit of it. I want you to get better soon!"
"I promise kid. And I promise next time when I get better we go on another weekend trip to makeup for this one," said Rad. "Hey, Frisky. Let's go downstairs and play a game," pleaded Lyon. "Okay, let me talk with your dad first, and I'll head downstairs." The wolf dog nodded, and raced downstairs, hoping he share one of his Barktendo games with Frisky. Both adults smiled as Lyon was feeling good about Frisky coming over. "I really do appreciate coming over. Sorry it was a bit of work taking care of me as well," said Rad.
"I don't mind. Besides, you need to get some rest from child rearing for today until you're back up on your feet," said Frisky. "I work as a nurse at my job, so I know how to treat symptoms at my job."
"Hey, you never told me you were a nurse," said Rad. "Well, you never asked," chuckled Frisky. "And don't worry. You're job is to get better. I promise I'll take care of Lyon." The red blue Heeler smiled at his girlfriend.
Afterwards, Frisky went downstairs to check up on Lyon, who was turning on his console. "I thought we can play one of my games. Do you like playing Barktendo games, Frisky?"
"Well, I'm not much of a gamer, but I'll try it out," said Frisky, willing to try it out. "We can play Bone of The Wild, Kart Racers Bash, or Soccer Stars."
Frisky looked at the game titles on the TV screen, which was connected to the two in one console system. "Hmm, can you show me Bone of the Wild? I've heard great things about it," said Frisky pointing at the Golden Retriever hero in blue tunic. "Oh, that's me and dad's favorite. We just beat the first dungeon boss," said Lyon ecstatically. "The game is about a hero who woke up from his 100 year sleep, and he wakes up in this cave where he has no memories at all. Then a voice calls out to him, and turns out it's this princess who is keeping a monster trapped in the castle for ages. The game is an open world exploration where you can do anything you want. You fight monsters, explore mini dungeons, take on the main quest's dungeons, do side quests and more, but I don't want to spoil it too much," said Lyon, rambling on the details of the game. "Oh, wow. That's quite the details," said Frisky. "Here, I'll show you how to control the hero." Lyon explained to Frisky the controls on moving the main character with the joysticks, pressing the buttons to jump, attack, crouch, and aim a bow at a distance.
On the TV screen shows a Golden Retriever with armor, and a longsword. On the top screen shows six hearts, representing the protagonist's health, and a few other user interface icons that was relatively new to Frisky. "Okay so it seems tricky at first, but it takes getting used to. You pretty much have to know what to expect when exploring an area and be mindful of the monster camps." The character is near a camp where two troll monsters are roasting meat for dinner. Lyon stealthily made the hero to aim his arrow at the monsters, and then attacked them from a distance without intervening in person combat. Afterwards, Lyon moved the character to the camp's wooden treasure chest, and received some arrows. "See? Easy," he said.
"That was cool. Let me see if I can do the next one," added Frisky while taking over the controls. Frisky saw another monster camp on screen, and saw taller troll monsters who were patrolling the area. "Oh dear, those look strong," she said. "Just make sure you attack from a distance. It's easier to do that to avoid waiting your weapons durability," said Lyon. Frisky concentrated on making sure to avoid being seen from the troll monsters and did as Lyon said. "Okay, so I aim the bow by pressing the big button behind the controller, and…no wait, my aim is off," she exclaimed. The monsters spotted the hero from a distance, and chased down the main character to attack. "Oh no, they spotted us," said Frisky somewhat panicked. "Lyon, how do I fight them on?"
"Here, I'll show you," said Lyon. He took over the controls and engaged in physical contact with the tougher troll monsters using the longsword. As the troll monsters attacked the Retriever protagonist, Lyon made a perfect dodge, and the screen seemed to slow down with the hero moving in swift motion to give blows to the first tall troll monster. Afterwards, Lyon set sight on the second monster by lock targeting on the screen, ensuring that he makes perfect dodges. In little to no time, Lyon managed to defeat the monsters that tried to attack the hero.
"You're quite good at this," praised Frisky. "Oh, it was no big deal. It took me some practice to get by a few defeats," said Lyon modestly. "Here, let me show you a mini dungeon called shrines. Those have fun puzzles." For the past hour, Lyon spent time teaching Frisky how to play Bone of the Wild. She felt like a novice compared to Chilli back in their youth where they played video games at a local arcade, and how she is usually beaten by Chilli each round in a particular fighting game. However, with Lyon guiding her on how to play the game, she felt more at ease knowing it's a kid who walks through with her on the game's mechanics.
"Okay, Lyon, how about we do another activity? I thought about teaching you an art craft I brought with me today," said Frisky. "Sure! I love to learn," said Lyon eagerly. He turns off his console, and places the controller back to the tablet by attaching it to each side. The two dogs went to the kitchen, and Frisky laid down some colored construction papers, and craft tools. "This is something I taught both your cousins, Bluey and Bingo. Watch this." Frisky picks up a red construction paper, folds it into an elaborate shape, and its corners folded into specific parts. Lyon watched carefully by Frisky's handwork, and in a moment's glance, the paper appears to take shape of a paper crane. "Woah, how'd you do that," he asked in awe. "It's called origami. You can fold just about anything into an origami shape. I brought this book for you to have a look. It tells us how to make just about anything," she said while holding a tutorial book on making origami art. "Yes, please! I want to see what I can make! " said Lyon while flipping through the pages. He saw a variety of origami figures from small animals to flowers, to boats, and planes. "Oh, can I make this one," he said pointing out to an origami star. "Sure thing, let me show you how," said Frisky as she decided to show Lyon by example. She makes a crease on the half side of the paper diagonally and does the same on the other side of the paper. Lyon followed along on her technique, hoping he gets it right.
Next, Frisky folds the paper in a pentagon shape. Lyon tries to fold it the way she does but ends up making a square shape. "Oh, that's not right," he muttered. "Don't worry, it takes a few tries, but with practice, you'll get better," said Frisky as she finishes the last step. Soon her paper looks like the origami star in the book. Afterwards, the two decided to make more origami shape objects from the book for fun.
"Frisky," says Lyon.
"Yes, Lyon," asked Frisky.
"Do you wish you have children," asked the wolf dog. Frisky was caught off guard by that question, but she knew the answer to that. "I hope so. I would love to have some one day when I am ready," explained Frisky. "I want a mum more than anything in the world. Having my adoptive dad is nice, but it would be nice to have a mum who lives with us," explained Lyon, implying to hope Rad will marry someone someday. "Oh, is that so," added Frisky, grinning. "Yes. To be honest….hanging out with you reminds me of spending time with my own mum before. I hope you feel the same way hanging out with me like a son, if that makes sense," said the wolf dog blushing red. The Cocker Spaniel smiled softly at Lyon for the high praise. She pats him on the head softly. "Aw, thanks Lyon. I think you will have a mum someday if Rad does decides to marry someone in his life. If anything, I think it may come true," she said. She felt intimate with Rad ever since hanging out, and the way Lyon implies how he sees her as a motherly figure brightens Frisky's mood. She wonders if the three might be a family someday, but only if she was brave enough to enter this stage of life; becoming a wife, and having a son, but for now, only time will tell.
Afterwards, the two decided to make origami flowers, and place them on his door as a get well soon present. They did their best to follow the book's instructions on creating a paper bouquet with a variety of colors. The flowers appear to be paper lilies and tulips, and Frisky ties them together like an actual bouquet. "There, this should be something your dad will love," she added. It was late, and it was close to Lyon's bedtime. "Let's leave them by your dad's nightstand, and get you ready for bed," said Frisky. The two went upstairs, and Lyon decided to be the one who places the paper bouquet with a get well soon card drawn by him.
After placing the gift, Lyon brushes his teeth in the bathroom, and rushes to his bed. Frisky tucks in the wolf dog to bed. "Thank you for coming over, Frisky. It was a fun day," said Lyon.
"It was my pleasure, Lyon. You were wonderful hanging out with. Even though I'm not very good at video games, it was fun having you teach me," she said somewhat embarrassingly.
"Oh, it was nothing. I might not be good at crafting origami, but you teaching me, and having the book taught me. I hope I get better with practice," said Lyon. Frisky let out a bright smile; both learned something from each other. She pats him on the head, and then leaves the room. After closing the door, she sees Rad with the paper bouquet on his hands. He grins at her. "You're up. How are you feeling," asked Frisky.
"A bit better now. That soup and medicine is starting to work," said Rad, feeling less nasally than he was before. "You two made a nice gift for me. I appreciate it," he said. "It was a team effort. We had a lot of fun. And I sort of learned a new appreciation on gaming thanks to your kid," added Frisky. "I'd kiss you, but don't want to catch your cold."
"Understandable. Thank you for coming over," said Rad. "I really mean it." Frisky nodded, and then walked downstairs. But before she left, she wanted to say something to Rad.
"Hey, Rad. Can I ask you something," she asks.
"Sure, shoot," said Radley. The Cocker Spaniel scratches her head, feeling a bit embarrassed to ask about their relationship. "Do you…feel like we've gotten a lot closer over the past several months," asked Frisky. Radley was stunned by that question. "Well, that came out of nowhere. But yeah, spending time with you has been a great experience. And Lyon seems to approve of you a lot lately. He can never stop asking me about you," chuckled Rad. Frisky giggled at that response; she never knew Lyon was always asking about her. "Lyon aside, do you…ever think we can be more? You know, together?"
Rad knew where the direction of the question, but he too was embarrassed to admit his true feelings. "Well, I think you're something special. I never would have imagined…we have something more." Both dogs blushed towards each other, but they feel like their relationship could be in the direction of an intimate pact. "Uhhh, anyway, it's late. " said Frisky, feeling hasty to leave the awkward feeling in the hallway. She rushes to her car, takes deep breaths, and drives away with haste. She felt red as a strawberry, unsure why she asked such a question. Even Rad felt like his face was steaming red with embarrassment. He looked at his paper bouquet, and then took a deep breath. "Something more…it might not be so bad after all," he told himself with his eyes half closed, feeling infatuated each time he thinks about Frisky. He then knew it was time to consider the next stage of their relationship through a proposal and thought a perfect ring would convince Frisky to take his hand by marriage.
Author's Note: Okay, I know I have been away from writing for a very long time and let me say sorry for my prolonged absence. Just know I am not dead or quit this story since I have received a few people asking why I stopped. The reason why is because I have had some internal struggles with my mental health, and have not been finding a job lately since graduating college. I know, terrible excuse, but I have been too hard on myself lately for not securing a job. There have been times when I kept beating myself up for not being able to land a position earlier in April, quitting my old job at retail due to the toxicity of new management, finishing school strong, and really throwing myself out there in the real world by engaging a lot in LinkedIn, applying over 100 jobs, refining my resume, etc. (you know the rest). It has been a grueling process for me because I have had several interviews with no success since I kind of suck at them, but I am practicing a lot. Though, sometimes over practicing leads to nervous breakdowns on my end. I just have been feeling depressed over the fact how hard it is to secure a job in my field, but I am not giving up on myself. I realize this feeling has taken away from the things I enjoy doing, including writing my story about Lyon and his life. So please rest assured I won't stop writing. It's just that I won't be writing all the time due to me finding some opportunity to start my new life after college, and hoping to move out of my parents' home once I secure a job, buy an affordable used car since my old car isn't what it used to be, and just starting my career at a young age. Next week I have two interviews for two jobs, one for my university, and the other for a company. I'm hoping at least one of them will be successful, and praying I'll reach something in time. That will give me peace of mind, knowing I can do anything in life. So again, I do apologize sincerely for my absence, and do not think I stopped writing this story. It's just a process I've been dealing with for months right now.
