I've never written or published a story before and I am in no way a writer. I randomly had the idea to write about this and decided to publish it because why not? so I apologize for any grammar or spelling mistakes.

Even though I don't consider myself to be a writer at all or expect many people to read this story I still encourage you to comment on any criticisms if you have any, even if it's just to say you found the story boring. I'd like to know where I can improve if I ever decide to do something like this again so please feel free to provide criticism.

This is based on the game Sonic.exe the disaster which you can find on Roblox. I know little about the Sonic lore so apologies if the characters are not written as you would expect or the world is portrayed wrong.

I don't plan to continue this currently, if I do it will be because I felt like it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and the story.

Eggman sat in front of his work desk, schematics and tools scattered across its surface. He slumped despondently in his seat with a scowl upon his face, completely silent. the only sound to be heard was the low hum of electricity passing through the wiring within the walls of his base and powering it all. usually he would be scheming a plan for world domination to bring the glory and respect his name deserved and establish the Eggman empire instead of just sitting around doing nothing. he was a man of commitment and dedication, usually he couldn't stand the mere thought of being unproductive, but right now he just couldn't find the willpower.

His mind kept replaying the events of the last six months over and over again in an insufferable loop he couldn't break out from no matter how much he wished to. It was almost six months ago when his security systems had detected a significant burst of energy somewhere deep within the forests surrounding his hidden base. At first he had feared it was Sonic or one of his 'friends' who had somehow discovered his hideout and was planning on tearing through every inch of steel like butter all while mocking him.

However the dreaded attack never came, and Eggman had decided to find out what had caused this explosion of energy. When he dispatched a badnik squad to the area to investigate they didn't discover that blasted hedgehog or any sign of him, instead they discovered what appeared to be strange rock covered in scorch marks seemingly as if it had been on the receiving end of a flame thrower and jagged cracks running along it's surface as if it had been hit with a sledgehammer. it was only the size of a football yet was deceptively heavy, almost 90 pounds as he would later find out. However the part which stood out the most and intrigued him the most was the strange dark energy which hung tightly around its shape and emitted a low, almost melodic hum. It seeped from the cracks that scarred the rocks surface like a thick tar and formed a smooth covering around the rocks shape. Whatever this energy was also appeared to be having an effect on his badniks as the live camera feed he was watching through began glitching and causing small static to buzz onto the screen and obscuring his view leaving no doubt in his mind it had some electromagnetic properties to it, meaning he could potentially use it.

He didn't know what this thing was or where it had even come from, it couldn't have been a meteorite judging by the lack of any sign of an impact crater. The rock didn't look like it had struck the ground at all or disturbed the trees in the explosion of its entry into the atmosphere and instead just sat on the ground as if it had always been there. Certainly he would have seen it as it barreled through the atmosphere.

Oh well, as bizarre as it was he decided it was a question for another day. What he wanted to know more than its origin was what this mysterious energy emanating from within actually was and if it could aid him in his quest to be rid of his nemesis. He ordered his badniks to retrieve the stone and place it in a sealed container used to contain wisps to bring back to the base for further study, the live video of the badniks view shut off the moment they touched the stone which game him a brief moment of worry he may have to go get it himself, however his other badniks surrounding the one carrying the stone all showed them moving fine, ignoring the fact it was seemingly struggling to carry the stones weight with both it's arms, and returning to base. It must have just been the video that this stone affected, or at the very least affected enough to break.

He had spent 4 months studying this mysterious rock in his lab and trying to figure out what it could possibly be. Not by hand of course, he wasn't stupid and wasn't going to go anywhere near the thing and risk his safety until he figured out what it was. instead he had used one of his many mechs to interact with it. he had tried every possible test under the sun to try and decipher this dark power but all his efforts had proved fruitless. The material this rock was made out of was nothing he had ever seen before, traces of carbon could be found along its surface but its primary composition was unknown and not discovered by science yet.

He had become incredibly giddy and proud of himself for discovering a completely new element to add to the periodic table. He, the great Ivo Robotnik had yet again done the impossible and proved his genius and superiority without a doubt.

And to make it better? Despite not being able to figure out whatever energy this new element was, he had come to realise the energy was so powerful it could supercharge his machines, giving them incredible power for all of their functions such as movement, flight and most importantly, weaponry. It bonded to their circuitry and framework as if it were a living creature performing an act of symbiosis with his machines.

He spent half a year investing all his time, effort, resources and genius into the greatest mech of them all! Powered by possibly his greatest discovery! The mech wasn't as large as his other creations like the Death Egg or Egg Dragoon but it was robust, it was efficient and most importantly, it was deadly. A true killing machine.

Only 10 minutes until Sonic destroyed it, laughing as he did so with ease.

Whilst the stones energy did indeed prove powerful as it tore through the environment around them and left deep scars on the land as they battled, it was definitely not accurate.

The energy was chaotic, random fluctuations of power when under stress had made his machine unreliable and awkward in its movements. When he fired the stones energy it just seemed to scatter into random directions without focus despite his attempts at improving the accuracy. Hell, he would have had a better chance of hitting Sonic if he had picked up the rock and thrown it at him with his bare hands. He had a difficult enough time hitting that speeding nuisance using heat seeking missiles and bullets already, He had realised very quickly into their battle that this machine had a snowballs chance in hell of even getting close to sonic, let alone hitting him.

And to add insult to injury, the rodent had brought his circus troop with him, the fox, the echidna and the pink one to fight him. He refused to call them by their names, as far as he was concerned they were merely pests that needed exterminating.

They had all seemingly realised the same thing he had that the mech had abysmal aim and poked fun at him for it. They began purposely strolling around the battlefield with their arms behind the heads and making snide comments such as "Did you make this one for killing or landscaping?" Each of them performing mocking actions and sentences making him seethe with rage, something they no doubt found hilarious.

The brats.

Sure enough, after all four of them had dented, burned and scratched his machine and equally wounded his pride for about 10 long humiliating minutes, Sonic had decided to put an end to his misery and dashed straight through the center of his mech and destroyed the stone inside that was powering it, resulting in an explosion that reduced his creation to scrap. The explosion had been smaller than he had expected but it proved sufficient enough to momentarily stun the four pests whilst he made is escape in his battered but functioning Eggpod, cursing them for what felt like the millionth time for yet again foiling his plans.

Now here he was, back at base, sulking in his chair over his latest humiliating defeat. Another plan and mech to add to the forever growing pile of failures.

Frustration consumed his mind, he shouldn't even be surprised. This is how it always goes. He devises a new genius and brilliant way to conquer the world and bring glory to his name and his creations, He creates marvels of engineering so great and so deadly that nobody else could possibly hope to stop them! Nobody else except a blue rodent who effortlessly runs through all his hard work, marvelous machines, military bases and makes a complete mockery of him and leaves him back at square one.

Admittedly he had gotten lost in his excitement of this new discovery and rushed it, quickly putting his newest mech together without bothering to test it's functionality whilst under extreme stress which probably explained why the machine was so unreliable. It didn't matter now though, he couldn't go back and perfect his design and try again now that the stone had been destroyed by Sonic practically torpedoing straight through it.

A long and frustrated sigh escaped his lips as his fingers pinched the bridge of his nose, all the failed attempts to finally rid himself of the supersonic nuisance flashing through his mind. All the time wasted studying the mysterious energy, all the hope he had grown proved pointless.

All the wasted potential because of his hasty actions.

He supposed he would just have to build something better next time. there would be a next time. He would win eventually, he was sure of it.

His mind began playing everything back again, this damn infernal loop.

At this moment, a loud bang broke the rooms perpetual silence as the door to his workshop opened and his two dimwitted robots Orbot and Cubot bumbled their way into his room arguing with each other about something he already knew he wouldn't care about, creating loud bangs as their metallic bodies bumped into eachother as they squabbled and stomping all over the rooms tranquility.

He placed his head in his hands as a loud groan escaped him, he didn't want to have to deal with whatever disaster tweedle-dee and tweedle-dumb had caused right now...

"Oh for gods sake..." He muttered to himself. He much preferred the loop of humiliation he was trapped in before.

"I'm the one that noticed it on the Eggdrone first! I should be the one to tell him!"

"That may be true, however considering that we were both watching the camera feed together we should both be getting the credit!"

"It's not my fault you looked away the moment they began fighting! You should have been paying more-"

"BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP!" Eggman yelled in a fit of rage as he tore his head from his hands, immediately silencing the two bickering robots as he gained their attention and stared at him in stunned silence.

Quickly standing up from his chair and turning to face his most useless creations, he yelled "I don't know what you're bickering about and I don't care! Today has been a big enough disappointment already and I don't need to listen to whatever you two morons THINK is important!." He couldn't even remember why he built them in the first place as they never seemed to be able to do anything right, They were the only things he had ever built that proved to be utterly useless at their jobs. he must have been drunk when he built them.

"But boss" Orbot piped up raising a finger as he spoke "we really think you will want to see this for yourself."

"Orbot for the last time, the chaos emeralds are NOT like regular emeralds! I don't need to see whatever mine you're thinking of wasting my badniks on mining in for regular, useless gemstones! They can't power anything!" The doctor spat back, recalling the time Orbot had somehow believed they could use gemstones to power his mechs just like the emeralds. The fool.

"N-no boss, it's not that this time we swear" spoke Cubot "it's not actually anything like that this time!"

"I don't care! whatever it is you two buffoons think is helpful, I can promise you it isn't! Get out before I decide to fix my past mistake and dismantle you!" He yelled as he pointed to the door they just barged in from "Maybe i can recycle you both into a toaster, at least then I'd get some kind of use out of you." He muttered to himself as he turned back to his desk.

"B-but boss, Sonic and his friends are fighting each other" Orbot interjected.

What?

His eyes widened slightly, not that you would be able to tell behind his thick glasses.

Sonic and his friends are fighting each other? No. He must have misheard them.

"What did you just say?" He asked incredulously as he turned to face the pair again, this time with a raised brow.

"Sonic and his friends are fighting each other" Orbot repeated back in a calm and relieved manner now that Eggman seems to have calmed down and forgotten his threat of turning him into a toaster, at least for now.

"Weeeeeell They're not really fighting each OTHER..., it's more like they are all fighting sonic." Cubot corrected, fiddling with his hands as he spoke.

Orbot gave him an unimpressed glance as Cubot unnecessarily corrected him, not that Cubot noticed.

The doctor stood silently for a few moments staring at the two. for one of the few times in his life he was dumbstruck. Sonic was so chummy with his 'pals' it almost made Eggman sick. He could swear he could feel the cavities forming in his teeth just by watching them talk and interact with each other in a sickeningly sweet manner.

They had arguments for sure, they weren't perfect, but physical fights? Against Sonic himself? Never.

Impossible. They must be malfunctioning. It's the only logical explanation.

"That doesn't make any sense, you two must be malfunctioning. Get on the table and let me have a look at your software." he spoke as he broke out of his stupor and regained his composure as he pointed to the metal table off to the side of the room

"Why don't you look for yourself? We have an Eggdrone currently observing them as we speak, over by green hills." Orbot proclaimed. he really didn't want to have to deal with the doctor tinkering with his software again, he wasn't exactly considerate to their discomfort as he looked inside their heads in the past and he doubted this time would be any different.

Yet again Eggman was confused. Green hills? They were still in Green hills? That didn't make any sense, They had battled there in the early morning and now it was the late afternoon. It was getting dark, what could they possibly still be doing there this late?

Eggman stood silently giving them an incredulous stare still not believing them even for a second and instead trying to figure out the possible reasons they might have for trying to trick him, which admittedly there were many as he recalled multiple times he called them 'useless' or 'idiotic' to their faces in the past. He had literally just threatened to turn them into toasters when they walked in the room just moments ago.

But what would they even have to gain by lying to him about this? Even robots as dumb as Orbot and Cubot had to know lying about this would do nothing but make him angry when he discovered their pathetic fib and being on the receiving end of the doctor's wrath was something very few beings walked away from.

One of which being that blue pest who did it on a regular basis but he was the exception.

They had never lied to him in the past either, they got things wrong incredibly often and sometimes withheld information if they felt it would send him into a fit of anger, but they never lied to his face.

So they couldn't be lying to him. Even THEY weren't THAT stupid.

He supposed seeing whatever it is the two robots saw for himself would help determine what exactly was going on, maybe he didn't need to waste his time poking about in their software and instead maybe the fox had hacked his Eggdrone and was playing a false video again, it wouldn't be the first time. He still couldn't get that stupid song and dancing Mobian out of his head as it played on his cameras and audio on loop for 2 hours.

"Fine, show me." He raised his arm and pointed sharply at the pair "But if you're lying to me I really WILL turn you both into my new toaster, it would be an improvement at least." he declared as he began marching to the control room with Orbot and Cubot quickly hovering to both his sides.

Eggman marched in silence, his footsteps echoing through the empty metallic halls as he passed by multiple monitors displaying all kinds of scientific data and security features, occasionally passing his empires insignia imprinted onto the walls.

His frustration had long since been replaced with confusion as he tried to imagine what could possibly have happened to confuse his two lackeys so much that they seemingly believed Sonic was being attacked by his friends, of all people.

A short exhale escaped from his nose in his amusement at the very idea and a small smirk grew on his lips. Oh how he would love to see that actually happen, his arch enemies own allies turning against him. What he wouldn't give to see the look on his face, it would be priceless.

After a few minutes of silent marching, he found himself standing in front of the cold Metal plated doors to the control room, after a brief moment they slid open as they detected his presence and he stepped inside, the door closing behind him and on Cubots head, trapping him as Orbot rushed to his aid trying to unwedge him. The beeping from the computer filled the room and a large monitor hanging from the wall displayed a clear video of green hills with a bright red symbol of his insignia in the bottom left corner indicating the video was live.

For the second time that day, he was dumbstruck.

The screen showed Green hills in what appeared to be the middle of a heavy rainstorm with powerful winds as trees swayed left and right and a thick fog blanketed the area. in the center of the screen there was clearly sonic, Amy and Knuckles.

Both Amy and Knuckles were panting as they stood battle ready facing a hunched over Sonic roughly eight feet In front of them, Knuckles with his fists raised and Amy ready to swing her hammer with clear deadly intent. Both of them were completely drenched by the rain and their faces were a mix of intense focus and panic. he could see Amy's mouth moving, saying something directed at Sonic but his Eggdrone couldn't hear her voice over the sound of rain pounding against its shell and the strong gusts of winds filling it's audio receivers.

On the top left edge of the screen in the background the silhouette of Tails could just barely be made out and he was positioned high on a ledge aiming what he could only assume was some kind of gun/cannon device attached to his arm directly at sonic, it's bright yellow glow breaking through the fog and illuminating his face. Unlike Knuckles or Amy, Tails looked absolutely terrified and was actively shaking from either the cold rain that soaked his fur or the apparent fear written on his face overtaking his body, probably both. He was only a child after all.

Finally, Eggmans eyes focused on sonic in the center of the screen.

Even without seeing his face Eggman knew it was him, he had battled the blue blur so often he could pick him out in a crowd just by the colour of his quills. Sonic himself was hunched over, facing the ground as if he had been punched in the gut and had the wind knocked out of his lungs, a rare sight considering Sonic rarely ever got hit.

This has to be a training exercise, maybe his latest mech had given them more trouble than he thought and they were training for a future battle? They certainly didn't seem to have taken his great creation seriously during the battle and what kind of training exercise lasts an entire day? And why on earth would they-

His thoughts stopped in his tracks as his attention landed solely on Knuckles.

He stepped forward and slammed his palms on the keyboard In front of the monitor to support himself as he shoved his face in front of the screen, a look of utter confusion and disbelief etched across his face.

At this moment Orbot finally had the genius idea to simply open the door again, finally freeing his cuboid counterpart. As Cubot went to thank Orbot they both stopped and stared at Eggman, glanced at each other for a brief moment, then stared at him again. Both taken aback by Eggmans quick movement before returning their gazes back to the screen.

Looking closer, he could see that Knuckles had 3 deep gashes across the whole of his chest, it looked as if a wild animal had slashed his torso. So much blood was soaked into his fur he could clearly see it despite his fur also being a bright red.

Even more concerning were that Sonics gloves were also soaked in blood and seemingly had razor sharp claws hidden beneath their blood stained fabric, it didn't take a genius to put two and two together.

Now looking closer at the environment and through the fog, what he had assumed to be small rocks were instead the decapitated heads of the small wildlife, fear now permanently written on their lifeless faces.

"What the hell is-" he began to ask before he was cut off by the sound of distorted laughter filtering through the screen's speakers that echoes through the room. It didn't sound right, it didn't sound like any laugh he had ever heard, including his! And he himself had to admit he had an incredibly bizarre laugh.

This laugh didn't sound like anything he had heard before, it didn't sound mobian or human. it sent chills down his spine as it pierced through the cacophony of noise the wind and rain were producing with ease. The thing that made it so much more disturbing was that it had come from Sonic himself, he had heard Sonics laugh a million times before as he mocked him after every defeat, but this wasn't it.

Sonic finally stood up and faced Knuckles and Amy as they both instinctively took a step back, horror and fear written across their faces as Sonics face came into view of the Eggdrones camera, the camera feed becoming more and more distorted and corrupted by static as his face rose.

Eggman could only just get a glimpse of sonics face through the static of the screen before the camera shut off completely. Although part of him wished he didn't.

His eyes were completely black, as black as the night sky with no discernable texture whatsoever. There was no shine, no reflectance, just pitch black as if looking into a bottomless pit. The only thing that stood out about them were the two blood red pupils the size of pinpricks in their center, staring past both Amy and Knuckles and directly into the camera as a wide grin grew on his face exposing row after row of blood soaked, shark like teeth in his mouth.

Finally making eye contact with him through the screen before it succumbed to the static consuming it completely and ending the transmission.

Eggmans whole body recoiled from the now completely static screen and took 3 steps back, accidentally bumping into Cubot as he backed away from the screen. his arms raised to his sides as if they were prepared to grab or hit something and the room filled with only the sound of static from the now dead camera of his Eggdrone.

Looking down, he brought a hand to his chest and felt his heart as it raced inside him. He had never felt this afraid before, even during his many battles with Sonic. he had felt many things towards the hedgehog during their battles. rage, anger, resentment being the most common and powerful, but he had never felt afraid of the hedgehog. he knew that this foolish 'moral code' Sonic consistently upheld would never allow him to actually kill the doctor no matter how many people Eggman kidnapped or displaced from their homes and Eggman would always be one step ahead to stay out of police custody. His refusal to outright kill Eggman and put an end to his constant attacks are what made him so sure he would win this perpetual game of cat and mouse eventually, Sonic didn't have the guts that he did. Although it did add to his frustration when he would always lose knowing that Sonic wasn't even trying to kill him whilst he was trying to obliterate him always infuriated him and seriously wounded his pride.

He didn't know how or why, but that 'thing' almost certainly would kill him if given the chance, he just knew it.

That wasn't Sonic. It had an uncanny resemblance to Sonic but nothing more.

"See boss, we told you!" Cubot proclaimed with glee, almost as if he hadn't been watching the same thing he was, completely oblivious to what had just transpired on the monitor in front of him.

"How long has this been going on?" He asked evenly, hiding the fear he was feeling from leaking through his voice and never taking his eyes from the static screen.

"The Eggdrone just began recording now boss, we came to tell you immediately" Orbot replied.

Eggman shook his head as a scowl replaced his fearful expression not acknowledging Orbots reply.

there was no use in feeling afraid, he told himself. He was a grown man, not a child. He was the greatest mind the world had ever seen. being afraid was useless, it hindered his genius and made him act irrationally. He was far too great to be this afraid of anything.

Besides, that thing didn't even know where he was, it COULDNT know where he was, he was sure of it. He had plenty of time to come up with some kind of a plan to deal with it.

He regained his composure and spun to face his lackeys.

"Orbot, Cubot, get this Egg drones camera back online and dispatch another three to green hills, I want you two to observe the situation and record all of it, And I mean ALL of it. Try to figure out what might be happening but do NOT interfere before we know what we are dealing with." Eggman ordered as he looked down to face the pair with his hands on his hips.

"Tell me if the situation changes, otherwise leave me alone to my work" he declared as he marched towards the door.

"Yes boss, but what will you be doing?" Orbot inquired.

"I'm going to finish repairing Metal Sonic and begin constructing more badniks. we are going to need them, I'm sure of it.

"But Metal Sonic is nowhere near ready for combat yet! Not after his last battle with Sonic! wouldn't you rather take advantage of the situation now? Sonics fighting his friends! We could dispatch a badniks squad to catch them all by surprise and maybe even get rid of all of them at once!" Orbot asked incredulously, raising his 'brow' to express his confusion.

"It wouldn't do anything Orbot. The badniks have only ever been capable of slowing Sonic down in the past and this wouldn't be any different." He said before turning to face the red robot as he stood in the doorway.

"And that isn't Sonic."
