Neb: I do not own Ducktales, F.O.W.L has made their move and taken all of the missing Mysteries that were found by the Duck Family. Mrs. Beakley was having Webby train the boys while Scrooge was having Della and Louie test his Bin's security system. Vincent faced off against Webby and won the fight by tackling her off the roof. They are both ok though, but Webby revealed that she has magic for some reason. What could be the reason, keep reading and find out. Though right now we are looking for the Sword of Swanstantine. Only one issue, Vincent might be a little too overpowered for this mission. Which, I know Lena is even more overpowered and doesn't really show it too much in this episode. She at least let's Huey figure out the problem for himself. Long story short, I shouldn't have had F.O.W.L cut ties with the Shadow Syndicate so early, because they were supposed to even the odds. No need to worry, because we have another group that can help, maintain Order, so to speak. I hope you all enjoy the fanfic.
The adventure started as any adventure. Scrooge yelling get in the plain, everyone running together with lack of preparedness. Luckily Vincent kept his belongings on a coat hanger next to his door, his hat, his coat, and his two bags. He didn't really need anything else. Oh, and he guessed Lena and Violet decided to tag along as well, though they were still in their pajamas. They were having a sleep over with Webby and got caught up in the middle of the rush. Vincent noticed none of the other adults seem to participate in these missions. Outside of Launchapad driving the boys and Scrooge to St. Canard. Also, Vincent wasn't sure what was going on with Webby, but she told him to drop it. Of course he was going to ask her about it again. But he didn't want to out her as a potential mage in front of everyone. That was her choice.
Anyways the mission took place in the Marketplace of Istanbird. Home to the greatest Kabab in the world. At least that's what Vincent remembered about the place last time he had been there. He had been on a couple grand adventures before he met the Duck family. While he didn't have his adventure in Istanbird, he did pass through this town to get to one of his adventures.
"You're telling me one of the greatest artifacts in history was sitting here the whole time," Vincent realized.
"That's right Vincent," Scrooge nodded.
"Swanstantine the Great, was a warrior king. It says the mystical sword channeled the bearer's inner strength," Huey summarized as he held out Finch's Journal. "When he died the king ordered the sword be divided into three pieces and hidden into the very city he founded centuries ago."
"Sword, Ceturies, Shishkabob, got it," Dewey called out. "Too adventure!"
"It's going to make more than gusto," Scrooge warned as he grabbed Dewey before he could run away.
"You stopped him," Vincent gawked. "I should have done that on a ton of our adventures."
"I doubt that would work multiple times anyways," Louie commented.
"It's going to take Verum Fortitudinem," Huey cut back in.
"Sure, sure, sure," Dewey pretended to understand Huey.
"He's speaking Latin at us now," Vincent explained.
"True strength," Huey translated himself with a sighed. "According to Finches's journal, only those that are in tuned with their inner strength could claim the sword from the Heavens, the Underworld, and splendor of the Earth. I don't know what that part means."
"The Six of us my work together as a family," Scrooge figured. "And what are you two doing here?".. he questioned the arrival of Lena and Violet, even though he was the one who invited them.
"We were sleeping over," Violet explained. "And you said everyone in the plane, so we got in the plane."
"Well.. d-do you like history?"
"Meh," Lena shrugged.
"It is my life," Violet assured.
"That's the spirit," Scrooge smiled.
"Best friend rode trip," Webby shouted with glee before hugging them.
"More people means we have the advantage," Vincent agreed.
"Hurry now," Scrooge warned with a grin. "F.O.W.L would be after the sword two, they could be lurking... anywhere!" Scrooge tried to grab what he thought was Black Heron, but it was just a lady wearing a head wrap. "Nice try Heron! Oh I'm sorry ma'am, you look like this vile villain I know."
Vincent was actually glad to not be the paranoid one here. Now that Rosina was defeated and Mr. Elite disappeared, he no longer feels the need to keep looking over his shoulder. This can be a regular duck family adventure, with regular duck family antagonists. Granted the only F.O.W.L agent he's met was Phantom Blot, and that singular man single handedly defeated the Shadow Syndicate. Wait, he should be panicking. So why wasn't he? Also, why hasn't he talked to Webby yet about her powers?
"Are you having another panic attack?", Violet questioned Vincent.
Webby grabbed Vincent's arm as Huey patted his back.
"Th-thanks?"
"Ever the gentleman McDuck," Heron called out as she revealed herself.
Everyone got ready to fight when they saw her.
"Consider your treasure hunt officially Fowled up!" Heron knocked down Scrooge, and then knocked down all the kids at once with her mechanical arm.
Vincent's hands ignited with the blue energy, but Scrooge already took her out by throwing a rug at her. Though it wasn't for long.
"Vincent with me," Scrooge ordered as the two of them begun fighting Heron. "The rest of you pair off and procure the precious parts before F.O.W.L does."
Vincent charged Heron, but was kicked back by a familiar rabbit girl. "Britt!"
"Surprised," Britt grinned as she tossed him his Letter Opener back. "Mr. Elite decided to wait out the coming storm, or however he said it, and let F.O.W.L have their day. In the mean time, I work for them. Though I'm not alone."
Vincent remembered the fight at the Resort in Florida when it was Jackie, Mr. Elite, the Bears, Ponce De Leon, and a Frankenstein outnumbering Vincent, Scrooge, and Goldie. Vincent was honestly worried that this might be the case again, or worse what if they brought Phantom Blot or Jackie back with them. But no, it was far worse then Vincent could ever imagine as he used the letter opener Britt returned to him to block a familiar samurai sword.
"Long time no see Tailfeather," a rabbit man with a black leather jacket spoke up.
"Quinn," Vincent grunted as he used his magic to blast Quinn back.
Britt then moved in and started slashing at him with two knives causing Vincent to back up. "Good luck collapsing a street on us," Britt mocked.
"I thought we were cool," Vincent yelled at Britt. He then turned to Quinn who was parried and then sent flying back by Scrooge. "And I thought you were dead."
"I was eviscerated," Quinn agreed. "But not dead. I lied in wait, recovering before I was field ready again."
"I guess we have that in common," Vincent sighed. "You've hospitalized me before."
"And yet you stay on this chaotic path," Quinn yelled. "Don't you see the world has changed, and is now wrong!"
"Cassandra said we were friends in another life," Vincent pointed out.
"Wait what?", Britt questioned.
"Cassandra should have kept her mouth shut," Quinn groaned. "No more talking, this is your last day in this world Vincent. I will destroy you and correct everything that is broken!"
"Dial it back brother," Britt ordered.
"No let him keep going," Heron grinned as she clashed against Scrooge. "This is getting good."
Vincent sighed before holding up his hands and blasting at Quinn like he did during the Moon Invasion. What he didn't expect was another red blast cancelling out his blue one. "You've got snipers?" Vincent glanced at each rooftop and window before creating a shielding around himself blocking the next shot that went his way.
Quinn then moved in and broke his shield. "My blade defies barriers!"
"I remember," Vincent shouted back before backing up next to Scrooge. "Tell me you can get a hold of Launchpad or Mrs. Beakley."
"I'm afraid we are on our own for this one," Scrooge shook his head. "Vincent, I know you've been training with Mrs. Beakley in secret in order to protect Webbigail. If anyone can take down those malicious, maleficent, mercenaries, it's you."
"Just so you know Tailfeather," Quinn began. "My boss called your defeat a code red. Meaning I can use any means to take you down. I am no longer bound by the shadows, this timeline is deemed irreversible without your destruction."
"Let me guess," Vincent sighed. "Your boss is the famous alchemist Aleister Crow."
Quinn's eyes widened when Vincent said that. "How did you?"
"Cassandra mentioned a lot of regulars who came to Artifact in her timeline," Vincent explained. "Ones that I've never seen in this timeline. I did however run into one regular when my friends and I got trapped in a Painting. The Shop Owner was Nicholas Flamingo, the assistant was Madame Aurora, and the regular customer was Aleister Crow. There hasn't been any mention in this timeline about either of the Alchemists, but Cassandra said that the Regulars were working for the Enforcers of Order."
"It doesn't matter if you know who your accuser is," Quinn sighed. "All that matters is the mission."
"But why? I learned with wasn't about me straying from the Path of Order, it was about this whole timeline junk. So why the facade."
"Vincent it's not a facade," Quinn corrected. "What did you draw your powers from, before the Friendship Magic."
"The Path of Order," Vincent explained. "My predetermined destiny held the power of destruction, and I was able to use that to cast destruction magic."
"Your Predetermined Destiny, was tied to Cassandra's other world," Quinn continued to explain. "But you strayed from that path and draw your powers from connections you should have never made. You and this timeline are an abomination. In order to fix this timeline, I have to end you."
"But killing me won't change anything that's happened," Vincent shook his head.
"I actually agree with the kid brother," Britt rubbed the back of her head. "I mean, I'm not defending him. But, what's happened already happened."
"I didn't ask how things would return back to normal," Quinn shook his head. "I was just assured that they would."
"Why put your blind faith in Aleister?", Vincent wondered.
"Enough questions," Quinn growled. "Sister, either finish the job you were paid to do, or stand out of the way."
"Britt," Vincent called out. "My fourteen year old self got along with you, and lent you a weapon to fight off Phantom Blot, surely you don't harbor the same hate you once did."
"I... I was trained to be an assassin Vincent," Britt sighed. "Whether I am an assassin, a treasure hunter, or a mercenary doesn't matter. A job is a job. I won't fight you out of revenge though."
"Well that's something I guess," Vincent rolled his eyes before creating another shield to block two more blasts that came from the roof tops. "Ok, who's shooting."
"We have no need to give that away," Quinn shook his head before slashing at Vincent's barrier breaking it again.
Vincent flew back and started floating in the air away from them, but then he dodges several more blasts. He scoped out the area to see if he could spot the sniper, but instead locked eyes on Webby and Dewey who were stumbling around chasing after another F.O.W.L agent. He spotted Louie and Violet were going to some shady underground location, and Lena and Huey were headed towards the center of town. He then took a blast to the chest before landing on one of the roofs. He was able to absorb most of the damage with his sealing magic, but his feathers were singed from the blast.
"Don't you get tired of being hit in the same spot over and over again Tailfeather," Quinn commented as he, Britt, and a cloaked figure carrying some sort of magical looking rifle. The rifle was made of wood and metal, had markings carved along it, and had an exposed mage crystal behind the barrel.
"Th-that's Belvedere isn't it?", Vincent figured.
"Did Cassandra not tell you?", Quinn wondered. "Those who perished in previous timelines couldn't be brought back by Genie magic. Belvedere had perished in this timeline as well, around the same time he did in the other. The only difference was he never met us, Artifact, or anything magical really. He perished a faceless nobody. I never saw Z'Gamaru either, so I'm guessing the Frog Samurai didn't survive the encounter either."
"And the duck boy who betrayed us?"
"Just another kid," Quinn assured. "We couldn't risk giving a potentially power hungry individual a spot in the Enforcers of Order, so we let him be. I do not seek revenge for my other self anyways."
"So then who is your hooded sniper?"
"Just end him Quinn," the sniper ordered. "He's stalling for Scrooge."
"Scrooge is locked in combat with Heron," Quinn shook his head.
"Brother," Britt spoke up. "What is this other timeline you keep speaking about?"
"Don't ask dumb questions sister," Quinn growled. "You know I can't reveal work stuff to you."
"Even if we're working a job together?"
"We couldn't even reveal stuff to each other when we were both assassins."
"But we aren't those kids anymore," Britt remembered. "A mercenary and an enforcer isn't too far off, but we don't have to do things the same way anymore."
"Since when did you get sentimental?", Quinn questioned her.
"I.. I've lost more than a few times against the kid," Britt tried to explain. "I realized that my hate caused me to lose focus. I realized that he wasn't worth my anger."
"What a load of... the friendship magic, when did you use it on my sister?"
"I didn't cast any spells on your sister," Vincent shook his head.
"Quinn, none of this matters," the sniper explained. "Just finish the job! You're the only one who can!" The sniper fired his Spelllock Rifle at Vincent causing Vincent to create a shield again. "Break his barrier!"
Quinn nodded before charging at Vincent, but then his eyes widened when he saw his sister block his sword with her two daggers. "What are you doing?!"
Britt teared up as she held her brother back. She remembered back at the cave, at both caves. The first time she saw it, she didn't think anything of it. The girl with the pink hair was using magic stones to heal Vincent during a battle. But the second time.
"Webby? Webby!", Vincent's past self panicked when he saw his little sister laying on the wet stone cave floor. "No, no, no! I need my..." Past Vincent had dug Britt out from under the rubble as she was barely maintaining consciousness. "No, you can stay passed out." He grabbed his mage crystals and used them to heal Webby.
"I'll ask again Britt," Quinn wondered pulling her back to the present. "Why defend him? What changed my sister?"
"Are we even brother and sister?", Britt wondered. "When we've never shown each other the same kind of compassion that he's shown his sisters? That his sisters has shown him?"
"It's not that simple, you've already known that! We can't live as normal people, we weren't raised to be normal!"
"Neither were they," Britt argued. "And yet they'd sacrifice everything for each other. I left you buried at the coffee shop, you've left me behind for your jobs as well. Why do we keep leaving each other behind?!"
Quinn stumbled back as he grabbed his head. "You weren't like this in the other timeline. You were always the ruthless one between the two of us."
"The strings of fate were played with and bent to Cassandra's will," Vincent remembered. "But they were never severed. Britt took your place as the kindhearted sibling, and you took hers as the ruthless one. But none of that matters anymore, listen to her words. You two can get along, you don't have to be assassins anymore."
"Don't pretend to know us faker," Quinn growled. "I will achieve my goal by ending you, and then everything can go back to the way it was supposed to be."
"Talking is good and all," the sniper jumped in. "But with Britt in the way. Weren't you supposed to be working with F.O.W.L, if you defend him, then you are failing as a mercenary as well."
"I..." Britt sighed before lowering her blades and stepping aside for Quinn. "He's right. Whether I am F.O.W.L, Shadow Syndicate, or helping my brother. Vincent we will remain enemies."
"We will fight," Vincent agreed. "But we won't be enemies. Britt, I don't want to keep our feud going. Especially when you've shown you at least care enough to want what we have. For you and your brother."
"We will never have what you have," Britt shook her head. "But at least when I'm teaming up with him, we have something close enough."
Quinn moved to break Vincent's barrier. Britt moved in and disarmed Vincent of his letter opener. The sniper started blasting Vincent back with magic, over and over until Vincent fell off of the roof.
"He can fly," Quinn reminded them as they peaked over the roof to check on Vincent.
"But this time he didn't," Britt sighed as they stared down at Vincent.
"The mission's done," the sniper commented. "Let's bag him up and bring him to Court." Just when he said this, the group heard someone cry out in anger.
They turned around to see Webby glowing blue. "You monsters," Webby cried. Her blue aura turned red before she charged at them.
