The battle continues as both gold and blue ball as buzzing on one another as both Sonic and Metal Sonic are bouncing all over the factory, hindering the future as a pile of rubble, causing Sonic to swing his fist as Metal Sonic swings his arm and then grab Sonic's face while boosting, scraping Sonic to the wall and then kicks him down towards different machines as they're trashed.

After that, Sonic rockets towards Metal Sonic, kicking him to the face and then doing another one by hitting him through the walls, destroying many robots like no tomorrow.

Grabbing Sonic's leg, Metal Sonic refuses to back down as he covers himself in chaos energy and slams Sonic to the ground, leading Sonic to do the same by grabbing Metal Sonic's head and knee it, denting His face as well as cracking a glass eye, causing Metal Sonic to have one of his red eyes buzzing as if it's no longer functional which leads him to have a single eye left.

Holding his head, Metal Sonic can feel the adrenaline surging inside his robotic body as if he's having fun fighting himself.

Both red eyed hedgehogs are now face to face in a destroyed factory as Sonic smirks with his fists raised and Metal Sonic does a karate stance.

Arriving as they followed, Amy and Breezie are watching a wingless angelic golden hedgehog and an aura filled robotic hedgehog facing each other.

"Sonic! You can do it!" Amy cheers, seeing Sonic going against his own doppelganger.

"Metal…" Breezie prays for Metal Sonic to make it out alive.

This motivates both Sonics as they're boosting up and charging towards one another, leading to Sonic dive kick which successfully hits Metal Sonic, making him crash outside under the sunrise.

Appearing at Mach speed, Sonic grins as he and Metal Sonic swings their fists at the same time.

At the same time both Sonic and Metal Sonic punched each other's faces, leading the duo to crash into different buildings as Amy and Breezie gasped out of fear, shock and worry.

"NICKY!" Amy and Breezie yelled, only for different reasons.

Grunting, Sonic is unsure how he'll win against Eggman's greatest creation that is far worse than his father's robotic state.

At least his father has some remorse and was able to hold back, Metal Sonic on the other hand is ruthless and refused to hold back against everyone, even himself.

As for Metal Sonic, he's twitching, realising that the hedgehog with all the positive chaos energy is able to outmatch him, even his chaos energy is unable to save his life.

"Hey, Metal Sonic " Sonic called, as Metal Sonic looked up at a golden hedgehog that's dropping his feathers as if Metal Sonic is seeing an angel from heaven. "Game over."

Sonic then curls himself into a ball while spinning as he charges his dash.

While Metal Sonic blocks, a golden beam of light hits Metal Sonic down towards a tower as the duo are moving like a missile.

Many buildings are smashed, even the 'future' signpost and Sonic and Metal Sonic are heading towards a certain part of the tower as Metal Sonic tries to boost but is overpowered by a simple spindash.

Metallic Madness, Present

Walking inside an unknown base, Tekno and Johnny are seeing many screens of how the past has progressed showing what Eggman will do to the Little Planet.

Even worse, there's capsules and animals being put inside robots by machines to power them up, causing Tekno to gasp with shock.

"So this is Eggman's base." Johnny is surprised to see inside Eggman's hidden base.

"Yeah. This is the Little Planet's version of Scrap Brain." Tekno said with worry.

What the duo sees is a large screen that shows a giant ball with a moustache, seeing its parts and security as well as its main objective.

Destroy one island or city for conquest.

"No way…" Johnny gasped.

"How?" Tekno too is shocked about what she just witnessed.

"For my theme park and empire, that's how." A familiar voice answered, leading the duo to jump and turn around, encountering none other than Eggman himself.

"Why? I trusted you!" Tekno snapped after seeing what her former boss was doing.

"Oh please, you're just a prop to engineer my robots. Also, canary and little rabbit, hand over the time stone." Eggman shows himself with a devious grin while raising his hand towards Tekno.

"Over my dead body!" Tekno hastily refuses while taking steps back from Eggman.

"You won't get away with this!" Johnny growls while raising his fists.

"Ohohoho! As a matter of fact, I already have. You lose, my little furry critters." Eggman in his 4 blade machine is spinning like a helicopter as both Tekno and Johnny are screwed for life. "Hand it over!"

Before Tekno and Johnny cling onto one another before their deaths, Eggman stops as his radiation energy is going abnormal, but this time it's getting stronger, even surpassing Metal Sonic's chaos energy.

"What is this?" Eggman halts, confused that Sonic is powering himself up with the chaos emeralds he kept.

[Doc! This is an emergency! We're bein- Click.] Cut off from the call as Fang sounds desperate, giving Eggman the impression that something is charging inside his base.

"Oh no!" Eggman exclaimed as he heard a crashing noise.

As the wall smashes open, the whole base creates a loud bang as the smoke causes the machines to fall apart by the chaos waves, freeing all the animals as they fly and run through the holes of the base.

Not just Eggman, but Tekno and Johnny are caught in a crossfire, even Fang is also a victim of the crash.

Afterwards…

Jumping inside, Amy is seeing Sonic's golden fur fade back to blue as Sonic himself groans and shakes his head while pulling up his thumb with a confident grin with one eye open.

"Sonic… Sonic! Sonic! Thank goodness!" Amy glomps onto Sonic as Sonic grunts in pain, only for him to see Metal Sonic laying on a top of a rubble next to him while badly damaged which makes him twitch.

To Sonic's surprise, he's seeing 4 time stones as the last 2 are orange and red, making Sonic pick up the remaining 4.

"Mr. Sonic…" Tekno gasps, witnessing Sonic surviving the impact that could've killed him.

"Tekno? What are you doing here?" Sonic asked, confused about why Tekno followed him.

"Sonic!" Johnny cheers as he rushes towards Sonic with joy.

"Oh, I get it. You guys wanted to join the fun as well." Sonic chuckles as Johnny laughs, leading Sonic and Johnny to fist bump.

"Yep. Also we don't want you to die as well." Said Johnny.

"Aside from being alive, what's going on?" Tekno asks as she's confused about how Sonic got in there with a robot like he's some sort of a missile.

"Had a fight with my evil twin. He put up a good fight as well." Sonic admitted, seeing Metal Sonic as his first opponent to best him in a duel.

"So, who's the cute girl with you?" Johnny asked while pointing at Amy, leading to Amy standing next to Sonic and respectfully bowing to Johnny and Tekno.

"Oh, this is Amy Rose, the girl I know from Hedgehog Town. I guess our reunion went smoothly, although messy most of the time." Said Sonic.

"What are you talking about!? It's going great!" Amy hugs Sonic while Sonic groans and raises his hand.

"This is Tekno and Johnny Lightfoot. We met as friends a week ago." Sonic introduces Amy to Tekno and Johnny.

"It's nice to meet you, Miss Rose." Tekno bows back as she and Amy giggles together.

"It's nice to meet you, Amy! Man, I'm jealous!" Johnny can tell how lucky Sonic is with a girl with him.

"Don't be. I'm just helping a friend." Sonic finally considered more people as his friends after Amy helped him think back about what'll be of him earlier.

While Sonic, Amy, Tekno and Johnny laugh, they stop as they hear Breezie calling for Metal Sonic.

"Metal!? Metal! Please, don't go… We made a promise together, remember?" Breezie weeps as she hugs Metal Sonic's body, leading to the 4 watching a hedgehog crying over a robot.

"Breezie…" Amy whispers.

"What's going on with her?" Johnny is surprised that Breezie is a lot different from earlier as she's usually sly and calm, rarely breaks down in tears.

"It's a long story." Sonic knows about all this but was quiet about Breezie's issue.

As the rubble moves and Fang is pushed aside, Eggman's blue eyes are revealed, only for him to swap glasses and growl.

"You stinking little muskrat! I was so close! But this time, I will go to the past and undo all the mess you created!" Eggman points at Sonic and his friends, spinning his blades.

Luckily, Sonic has a few tricks up his sleeves, making him raise a chaos emerald and grin.

"Everyone! Wait for me! Chaos Control!" Sonic yells.

Chaos Control finally slows down time, leading to Sonic hastily dismantling the machine until Sonic clicks.

Everything resumes as the blades are flying all over and the rubble is smashing more and more, leading to Eggman yelling and growling with rage fuming in him.

"You rotten little hedgehog!"

As for Metal Sonic, he twitches as his red eye flickers as he turns himself on, seeing Sonic fighting Eggman as his friends are safely watching him fight back.

As Metal Sonic sees Breezie crying, Metal Sonic places his hand on her face, knowing that he'll always stay by her side.

Egg Spinner is left with a single blade as it bounces like a pogo stick, trying to split Sonic into 2.

Metal Sonic stands up, nodding to Breezie.

"Metal?"

Metal Sonic boosts as he grabs Sonic by the neck as Sonic exclaims.

"What the!?" Sonic grunts, struggling to free himself while Metal Sonic stares at him.

"Yes! Ohohohoho! Now, Metal Sonic! Finish him!" Eggman ordered.

Metal Sonic can tell Sonic respects him, knowing why he feels the same as Sonic.

They're both Nicky, the boy who cares for all.

As Metal Sonic throws Sonic with a backhanded swing, he grabs the blade and tears it off of Eggman's machine, leaping up and boots him towards Fang.

As Eggman and Fang crash, Eggman is shocked to see his own creation betraying him.

"Metal!? What are you doing!?" Eggman shrieks, seeing Metal Sonic writing a cold message through the glass with his claw.

'I am not your tool. I am Sonic the Hedgehog.'

"Uh oh." Eggman is doomed, seeing as Metal Sonic grabs both Fang and Eggman and kicks them as hard as it throws the duo off the Little Planet.

"HEDGEHOG!" Eggman screams, flying all the way to earth as he and Fang are no longer his masters.

Finally, Sonic sees a message on the rubble that says 'You're pretty good, Nicky.'

Sonic chuckles as his friends help lift Sonic up, seeing Metal Sonic and Breezie place their foreheads onto each other.

"Let's go back. My corporation is done and daddy is waiting for us." Said Breezie.

Metal Sonic nods.

Later, Sonic raises the time stones, creating a new world where nature and technology thrives, bringing in a new society that is utopia, even the base Eggman has is now a cyber garden with fountains as nature evolved into something greater.

Good Future

"Wow…" Amy is in awe after seeing the animals roaming around as some swim in the fountain.

"It's beautiful." Tekno said with surprise.

"I know, right?" Johnny agreed, excited that there's hope for earth's future.

Breezie and Metal Sonic are seeing the true beauty of the Little Planet's atmosphere as if they're made for this.

As for Sonic, he gets a free fresh chilli dog as he picks it up and eats it.

"Even a chilli dog is still fresh in this timeline. Heh. I'm glad now that's over." Sonic chuckles.

Tekno is preparing her motorbike as she's waving.

"Come on! Let's go!" Tekno called while putting on her helmet.

Johnny is the first to hop on the bike, Breezie on the other hand is worried that Metal Sonic is at his limit, leading him to fall to his knees.

Even Sonic and Amy pull him up.

"Metal!" Breezie shrieks.

"He's not going to make it!" Amy checks Metal Sonic's insides as it's not only fried, but his core is dull coloured as there's little energy left.

"At this rate the chaos energy in him is going down. Now I know why Eggman made him this way." Sonic clenches his fists, realising that Metal Sonic only runs on chaos energy.

Metal Sonic finally understands why people are worried about him. As Nicky, less people are supporting him and the only one who does is Amy.

With more people, Metal Sonic can finally tell that there's more people that cared for him.

Metal Sonic has his hands on Sonic and Amy's shoulders and nods as he looks at the duo.

Then a rumble happened, causing the pillars to fall, the water splashes as Sonic and his friends yell.

As Sonic pushes Breezie to the bike, Breezie shrieks as Tekno and Johnny exclaimed.

"Sonic!?" Tekno yelled.

"Don't worry, I'll catch up! Go on without me!" Sonic called.

Tekno grunts and pulls Breezie onto a bike.

"Please don't die, okay?" Tekno warned.

"No promises." Sonic rubs his nuzzle with his thumb with a grin.

"Wait! No! Metal! METAL! NICKY!" Breezie screams as the bike leaves.

This leaves Sonic to pick up Amy in a bridal carry while grinning.

"Hey, Metal, let's race back home." Sonic says while Amy nods with confidence.

Metal Sonic nods as his booster flickers as he fully prepares to see who's the fastest thing alive.

While Sonic spins his leg, Metal boosts, ready to start their race.

Stardust Speedway, Good Future

In an amusement park with plants and structure that is vibrant with the castle near it, both Sonic and Metal Sonic zooms past as they're running on the roller coaster, Amy points at the direction as Sonic follows, even Metal Sonic is charging in his own direction.

Even at a weakened state, Sonic is surprised that Metal Sonic is still as fast as he was as both Sonic and Metal Sonic slide on the grind rails and jump on different plants.

They're finally near it, the chain that is visibly cracked as Sonic, Amy and Metal Sonic are racing against time as well as each other.

As they reach the chain, the chain snaps as Sonic and Amy make it by grabbing the broken chain to earth.

Unfortunately for Metal Sonic, his booster is flickering more as his energy is completely depleting, leading him to fall.

While falling, Metal Sonic is grabbed by Sonic as Sonic and Amy are holding onto the chain as Amy is on the chain and Sonic as Sonic is grabbing Metal Sonic's wrist.

"Gh! Hold on! Metal! I know we had our differences! But we can change! Tekno is able to rebuild you! Heck, You can take my name! You can be Nicky!" Sonic shouts.

Metal Sonic then comes to a conclusion as he's too selfless as always.

He too will do the same if he's in Sonic's position.

Even Metal Sonic is through living in hatred as he's lowering his head.

"Bzzt… So-… Nic…" Metal Sonic speaks out as Sonic and Amy gasps with surprise that he's able to speak.

"Metal?" Sonic is surprised as much as he's glad.

"Take… Care of Breezie…" Metal Sonic said his dying wish as Sonic gasped.

"What?"

"There can only be one Nicky… You, Sonic…" Metal Sonic pushes Sonic's hand off leading him to fall into the Little Planet after his final words.

"Metal!" Sonic is shocked as he sees a robot sacrificing himself for his enemies.

"No way… Metal…" Amy gasps as she's witnessing a robot that'd rather die than live on forever.

Sonic shakes his head as he reaches his arm, knowing he can't do anything to save Metal Sonic.

"METAL!"

In the end, Metal Sonic is gone and Sonic and Amy are left to go back home towards earth.

He's right… There can only be one Sonic (Nicky)...
