A/N: Few things for me to preface before this chapter. I gave it some thought and yeah...This should probably be a rated M fic so that's what the story is changing to. With all of the swearing, violence, and other possibilities in the future, I think that's a valid thing to do.
Don't usually do these, especially not at the beginning of a chapter but I just wanted to take the time to also thank you for reading this story up to this point! Hope it's been decent enough. Anyway, that's enough outta me.
(NO POV)
Time had passed with nothing of note happening at the Utonium Estate. Boomer was still out of commission, Bubbles was fast asleep, and the remaining two Puffs decided to catch up on the current situation.
"Can you please stop pacing around?"
"…This was stupid! I'm going after them!" Buttercup shouted.
Blossom shook her head in opposition. "Just wait, Buttercup. It's hardly been twenty minutes."
"It shouldn't have even been ten minutes!"
"I have faith in Butch. He'll make it back."
The green Puff sent her sister an annoyed glance. "…I bet you do…"
"I'm sorry?"
"Oh, nothing! I'm sure everything will work out just fine! Blossom said so, after all!"
Blossom sighed and folded her arms. "You wanna explain to me what the deal is with your attitude?"
"Nope! I sure don't."
"Then how about you drop the nasty looks that you've been sending me for the past couple of weeks?"
"Sorry, but I don't think I can do that either."
"Gosh Buttercup! I don't understand what your issue with me is! Did I do something to you?"
"Maybe…" She grumbled.
"If you're going to be upset with me, at least have the decency to explain why."
Buttercup sneered at her. "Nah, I'd prefer to keep you in the dark. It's more fun that way."
"How are you still so immature? I mean seriously, grow up."
"Well, you're an uptight know-it-all! Oh, look at me! My name's Blossom and I'm SO gosh darn pretty and smart and a REAL go-getter!"
Blossom could feel herself losing her cool. Even she has a limit when it comes to her sister's antics. They've been like this before but it usually faded quickly. This time felt differently than the others. She was sensing the tension building and the pink Puff knew when she was being goaded into making a response.
"Can you please stop with this childish little rant that you're going on about? It's not funny and you have no audience to applaud you."
"I'm Blossom and I'm just the most perfect thing ever created! Everyone loves me for my POSITIVE attitude! Gosh, I'm such a great leader!" Buttercup scoffed. "Kinda overrated if you ask me!"
"No! I didn't ask you, Buttercup! You venting your random frustrations like a toddler isn't helping our situation. Honestly, it never helps when you decide to do it at the WORST of times!"
"It's doing me wonders as far I can tell."
Blossom furrowed her brows. "I'm sorry but I can't help but wonder…Are you jealous of me?"
"HA! Did you take one too many blows to the head earlier? Why the fuck would I ever be jealous of you?!"
"Umm, first of all, watch the language. Secondly, I don't know…Maybe it's because you're constantly mocking the traditionally positive traits that people may feel that I actually possess." Blossom said with a sarcastic chuckle.
"I've got NOTHING to be jealous of. I'm tough as ever now and I'm fresh off of punching some arrogant faces. Besides, I couldn't care less what other people think."
"Really? Then what could it possibly be then? I know this isn't about someone that may or may not have piqued your interest. THE Buttercup in love with someone??? No, I should think not!"
The green Puff glared at her sister with balled-up fists. "I don't take any particular interest in anyone!"
"You know I can tell when you're lying, right?"
"You clearly can't since I'm telling the truth!"
"Oh yeah?" Blossom cracked a sly grin as she crossed her legs. "So if I decided to go on a date with a specific person, you wouldn't care?"
"Why the hell would I?"
"Hmm, okay! I guess I'll be treating Butch to dinner this week. Let's say...Tuesday!" She said nonchalantly.
Buttercup's face was redder than she was hoping to show. She was trembling with anger and wanted to scream out in protest. However, her stubbornness refused to let her do so.
"Knock yourself out. I-I'm sure you and the dumbass will make a great c-couple."
"You look like a bottle of ketchup that's ready to explode. Can you seriously stop with this denial that you're living in?"
"Fuck you! I'm NOT in love with-!"
"OH YES YOU ARE!" Blossom shouted quickly. "You act like it's not obvious! You've clearly grown some form of attraction to him."
The green Puff bit her lip angrily while refraining from pouncing on her sister. "You don't know anything…"
"I know enough. I mean, you always seemed so eager to see him when we were younger."
"BECAUSE I WANTED A FIGHT! DUH!!!"
Blossom shook her head. "Or you enjoyed his presence."
"Wrong!"
"You've got it SO bad, sis! I see you sneaking glances at him when we're at lunch. You always walk next to him when we're all together, you skipped school to be with him-"
"WHO TOLD YOU THAT?!"
"No one. You clearly didn't show up to school that day he was hurt!"
"T-that was by circumstance! Someone had to watch his sorry ass!"
Blossom grinned with amusement. "Face it, Buttercup! You're crushing on your counterpart!"
"…No, I'm not! Like seriously! Is this the time to be prying into my personal life?!"
"Can you please drop the stubbornness? It's okay, Buttercup! Nobody is going to think any less of you for having a little crush."
"Oh yeah?! You mean like with Ace?!"
The pink leader snickered. "Bubbles and I have apologized multiple times for that."
"Yet you still find it funny."
"N-no! It's not. I mean it this time."
"This is why I don't tell you shit!"
"Come on. I want us to at least try and be more transparent with each other."
"Why? What's with the sudden need for sister bonding?" Buttercup asked skeptically.
Blossom gave her a sad smile. "Well, think about it. Ever since we started high school, the three of us have been so distant. We live in the same house but it's more different than ever. I want us to talk and spend a little more time together. After seeing the latest adversaries that we've been handed, I've been thinking about how things can change in an instant."
"You mean death?"
"That's definitely a big part of it."
Buttercup sighed and intertwined her slightly calloused hands together. She knew that Blossom spoke the truth. She just thought that it was natural to grow apart when you're older.
"Yeah…" She cleared her throat and glanced at her sister. "What do you want to talk about?"
"Oh come on! You know what." Blossom said with a raised brow.
"Grr! FINE! You got me! I kinda like that green dumbass! Just a little bit though!" She tried to hide the pink on her cheeks.
"OH! I knew it!"
Buttercup rolled her eyes. "Tch, then why ask?"
"I just needed the confirmation. This is wonderful! You two should really-"
"Pump the brakes sister. There's still one little problem."
"What's that?"
"He's got a thing for redheads."
"What?! But there's only like…Oh…You don't mean Princess, do you?"
"He's not THAT stupid."
Blossom's face went red from embarrassment. "B-but why me?! We hardly talk let alone interact."
"I guess you tickled his fancy." Buttercup huffed with displeasure.
"Well, that's unfortunate."
"How? Are you repulsed by him or something?"
Blossom shook her head. "Not necessarily. I mean he's a strong, decent-looking guy. It's just, I don't think he and I are all that…compatible."
"Not a fan of Beauty and the Beast?"
"I don't know! I can't read him too well and I'd be lying if I said that he didn't intimidate me a bit."
"So you aren't into him?" Buttercup asked.
"I don't think so."
"…Good."
"I'm sorry?"
Buttercup stood up and stretched. "Ah, it's nothing. Just glad we cleared that up."
*BOOOOOOOOOOM*
"What was that?!" Blossom shouted.
The two sisters walked towards the front door. Just before Blossom could reach for the knob, it flew off of its hinges and into the adjacent wall.
"What the hell?! B-Butch?!?"
The green-eyed Ruff didn't say a word. He walked inside the house and dropped his knocked-out brother on the ground.
"Oh my god! Brick! Why is he covered in blood?!" Blossom asked in horror.
Butch looked around at his surroundings, taking everything in. His gaze was then glued to Buttercup as she grabbed his arm.
"Dude, your eyes are still…Well, you know."
"Buttercup…"
"What is it?"
He smirked and took in her scent. "Ah, nothing."
"I like the smell of this one."
"Dude! Quit being a fucking weirdo in my body!"
"Our body!"
"What happened out there? I almost ran out to find you!"
"No need, babe. I brought Brick back just as I said I would."
Blossom couldn't believe her eyes. "B-but look at him. He's-"
"A demon. Whoever you guys left him with brought that out. You need to get him locked away somewhere so that he can't break free."
"WHAT?!?!"
Butch glared his dark green orbs at the shaken-up Blossom. "You want him to kill anyone else? If not, then do as I say!"
"O-okay," Blossom said before taking Brick to the downstairs lab and putting a containment bubble around him.
Buttercup looked at her counterpart with a questioning glance. "Are you holding up alright? You seem relatively unbothered by this."
He looked at her and grinned. "No worries. Everything will be fine. I'm more concerned about something else."
"HEY ASSHOLE! I know what you're planning! YOU BETTER NOT!!!"
"Woah! What the hell are you doing?" She barked sheepishly.
He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close to his chest. "Tell me something…" He said in a deeper tone. "Why are you so goddamn sexy?"
"YOU PIECE OF SHIT! SWITCH BACK!!!"
"I-I don't…I mean y-you aren't…I mean-"
He tilted her chin up and pressed his forehead to hers. "Just come with me."
"With you where?"
He grinned. "To your bedroom."
*CRACK*
"ROTTEN JACKASS!!!"
Butch dropped down and held his freshly kneed man parts. "Shit! SHIT!!! Why would you do that?!"
"I can tell when you're screwing with me you jerk!"
"It…was…a joke! GAH!!!"
"I hate you." She grumbled.
"That's what you get for trying to get at Butters! You've got a better chance with a goddamn shark!"
"Forget it! I don't have time for this."
"Huh? Where are you going?" Buttercup asked.
"Wherever the hell I want. I'd offer to take you with me, but you've got a bit too much hostility in you."
"…No, wait. I'm sorry! I'll come with you." Her confusion was mixed with some frustration as she forced her words out.
Blossom didn't seem too happy with the situation either as she came back upstairs.
"Well, Brick has been contained and I have no idea where to even go from here."
"How bad are his injuries?"
Blossom rubbed her temples and let loose a breath she didn't know she was holding. "That's the thing. He's pretty much fine, minus the few bruises he has. I need to look into this more. All of the blood…It couldn't possibly be…"
"We'll figure it out. We just gotta wait until he wakes up."
Blossom glanced around the room. "Wait, I wanna ask Butch some questions."
"No!" He barked.
"But you saw him! You know what happened out there!"
"You can put two and two together. Besides, I did my part and brought him here. YOU do yours and look after him. I told you the important details." He lifted Buttercup off of the ground and carried her out of the house bridal style.
"Dude! I-I can fly myself!"
"Sorry hun, but I'm faster." He said with a wink. He blasted off the ground with a dark green streak behind him.
-THE CITY OUTSKIRTS-
"Man, it feels good flying around like this!" Butch shouted gleefully.
"Not to be that guy, but you've only got like thirty minutes left. I know you're not about to waste it all flying in circles."
"No actually, I'm not. I have something a bit more fun in mind."
"And that would be?"
"How's about a trip?"
"…To?"
"Hell!"
"Why would I want to go back there?"
"Just trust me on this. It'll be GREAT! We may even score some points with Buttercup!"
"I don't give a shit!"
"Yes…You do."
He landed on the open dirt ground and grinned. "This spot is perfect!"
"What? There's nothing here." Buttercup said with her arms folded.
He took one of his sharp nails and slit his palm open. He let the blood drip until he was able to form a pattern. A pentagram to be exact.
"I'm guessing the magic words come next?"
He then slapped his bloody hand in the center. "I refuse to say some ridiculous chant! OPEN THE FUCKING GATE!" The circle started to glow a dark green color.
Butch and Buttercup stood inside and in a matter of moments, they vanished. They warped to the center of Hell without a singular trace left on Earth.
The air was hot and heavy. In the distance was a vast ocean of molten lava. Thousands of demons were marching down below while chained together. Screams of agony rang throughout the blood-red sky. Butch would take it all in as he stood atop a hellish spire made of brimstone.
"Shit…You know it looks EXACTLY like what I thought it would look like, yet I'm still caught off guard." The green Puff said in awe.
"What are we doing here?"
"Making a statement. Don't worry! You and the princess can just relax and enjoy."
He scanned the fiery region until he spotted a large tower. He smirked and dashed towards the top with his counterpart. As he got closer, he raised a hand and shot out a blast, shattering the wall and landing inside.
He now stood before a large round table. With all of the top-ranking devils eyeing him down. Some were startled while others were immediately angered.
"B-Butch?!" One of them stuttered.
"YOU?! Where have you and your buffoon of a brother placed my spell book?" Shouted Beelzebub.
"How did you even get here?" Asked Asmodeus.
"I'm a demon. It's not that hard. As for finding your little hideout, well It's like the tallest building here so…Not that hard." He said with a shrug.
HIM was visibly enraged by the sight of the smirking green Ruff and his tag-along. The little monster that he himself made this way. He was failing to restrain his body. He wanted to strangle both of them with his claws.
"You shouldn't have come here, you wretched brat! You will NEVER leave this place alive."
He couldn't suppress his laughter as he looked at the still-injured demon. "Been a while HIM! How are you holding up?"
Lucifer stood up and smiled at Butch. "Shouldn't you be dealing with your brother right now? You do realize what he is, correct? I mean, he could be rampaging as a bloodthirsty devil right at this very moment."
"Obviously. Too bad he's still no match for me. It was a nice little party trick though. REAL entertaining." He said with a mocking slow clap. "You need something a little bit better next time. Brick was a piss poor attempt to conquer the Earth! It's a shame. I was hoping to celebrate my newfound awakening with a brutal clashing of fists." He sighed. "You let me down. I thought you were more creative."
Lucifer sent him a hate-filled glare. "Better you say?!" He snapped his fingers and summoned Berserk, Brute, and Brat. "How's this? I hear they gave you and your little group some trouble."
"You're a moron if you think that those three are enough to do anything to me now."
"Girls, kill him and his associate and make it quick. The girl's head will be a fantastic gift for the heroes of Earth." The devil ordered.
"Like hell, it will. Just try it!" Buttercup said back.
Butch sighed and cracked his neck. Before anyone could see, he moved directly in front of them. "Move an inch and you'll regret it."
Brute pointed a finger at him. "Didn't I beat you up the other day?"
*WHACK*
*BAAAAAAM*
In a single swift motion, he pushed her hand away and punched her straight into the wall. The other two girls stilled and took a hesitant step back.
Butch gestured for them to come closer. "If you're going to fight me then do it! Otherwise, kneel and be silent." He pointed a finger at Abbadon. "Teleporting freak! I wanna finish what we started a little while back."
The taller man stood up and scratched his chin. "Oh? You might wanna rethink that kid. This isn't your realm anymore. In hell, WE have the advantage!"
"Is that supposed to mean something? You're all gonna end up dead regardless of where it happens." His hands started to glow.
"WOW! Arrogant much? HIM, what would you like us to do to this insect?" Asmodeus asked with a scoff. She gave Butch a harsh stare while twirling a blood-red knife.
"…Nothing…" The demon spoke through gritted teeth. He had come to realize that a fight wasn't a smart idea. He knew that Butch was more than formidable. He needed to recover before engaging.
The room looked on with confusion. "Pardon my ignorance, but shouldn't we seize this opportunity? He's alone in OUR tower." Lucifer asked.
"No." HIM hissed with his eyes never leaving Butch. "He thinks that he's just going to come here and have his way. That's not happening! We will continue to do nothing and he will leave our realm."
"HAH! What's stopping me from bashing my knuckles against that jagged nose of yours and killing the rest of you?"
"Because you're not here to kill anyone, dear boy. I know you all too well you cocky little shit! Now what do you really want?"
Butch gave HIM a villainous smirk that would've made the demon proud back in the day. His hellish eyes flickered with excitement.
"Allow me to put this in the most vulgar way possible." He pointed to himself. "I am, to put it simply, slamming my metaphorical dick on your metaphorical table."
Buttercup chuckled and watched as the room went wide-eyed. She'd had to admit that this was entertaining even though he literally sent her to Hell.
"What is your point?" Asmodeus asked with full intent to gut him with her knife.
He then pointed to all of them. "You are ALL entitled weaklings that for whatever reason forget I exist. That baffles me beyond belief. You have the nerve to send trash to MY planet and laugh as if all is said and done."
"Who are you calling trash?!" Brat asked angrily.
He turned his head and shot a blast right past her head. The explosion shook the entire tower.
"You're a sad player on a losing team. I already told you to shut your fucking mouth and kneel, so you should do exactly that! Next time I say it, you won't be alive to hear it."
"…" She nodded with a whimper and dropped down to her knees. Berserk said nothing and did the same.
"Not to be that guy yet again, but you're running out of time. I'd rather not be powerless in the middle of Hell."
"I'm aware."
Butch looked back at the demons. "I know that you're all too foolish to heed my warning, but I'll do you this final act of kindness before I leave." He grabbed Buttercup and hugged her tightly, much to her surprise. "Earth isn't up for grabs. That planet is mine! The people on that planet are mine! I don't like sharing either so any attempt to take it will be met with severe repercussions." He glanced at Buttercup once more before continuing. "Test me if you want. I already know that you'll come regardless of what I say. I honestly prefer it that way. It gives me a justifiable reason to kill."
"Are you done?" HIM asked, breaking the silence.
"I sure am! You all have yourselves a truly horrible day." He walked with his counterpart to the pentagram that was drawn in the center of the table and warped back to Earth with Buttercup.
The two appeared back on the outskirts of Townsville. Buttercup was still in shock from the whole ordeal and Butch was looking quite satisfied.
"I gotta say, I'm impressed. Talking big to a bunch of demons is pretty cool."
"I only told the truth. What happens next is up in the air. They may come after us now or they might call it quits for good. Only time will tell."
"Fair enough. Are you gonna take me back to the Puffs place now?"
"Sorry, but you're up. Good luck and try not to get me killed."
"…"
"…"
"…Prick…"
"The hell did you just call me?!" Buttercup snapped.
He looked at Buttercup with full control of his normal self. He was back but at what cost? Butch could already feel the lack of strength. He could no longer push himself off of the ground and take to the skies. His senses were weaker and he couldn't project an energy blast let alone his signature barrier.
"Goddamn…So this is the price that I've gotta pay. Damn, this is gonna be a long 24 hours!"
"24 hours for what? Why are you yelling at yourself?"
He looked at Buttercup with embarrassment flooding his features. He was too broke to afford a ride back home, had no powers to fly back, and was starving. He knew he'd have to bite the bullet. Unfortunately, that meant telling her about his condition.
He sighed and turned towards her. "Look Butters…I REALLY hate to ask but…I need a ride back."
She raised a brow. "What? Just fly back you lazy douche."
"No! I'm dead serious! I can't fly back right now."
"Why not? Afraid I'm gonna beat you there?"
He groaned before halting his breath. "Okay listen! I'm about to tell you something that you absolutely CANNOT tell anyone else!"
"Sure, I'm listening."
"I lost my powers…"
She gave him a perplexed stare. "I'm sorry, what?"
"I.HAVE.NO.POWERS!!!" He shouted aggressively.
"Are you freaking serious?! HOW?!? You just threatened a whole demon council and bitched the three chicks that kind of kicked our asses!"
"It's complicated."
She shook her head. "You want a ride back? Better get to explaining!"
"Dammit! I made a pact with the demon inside of me! I get a power boost but have to deal with a couple of side effects."
"Okay, so I'm guessing one is losing your powers?"
He nodded. "For 24 hours, yes."
"Okay, then what are the rest?"
"The demon gets my body for an hour. That and I'm assuming hunger…"
She flinched. "Whoa! You mean to tell me that the Butch I was with just now wasn't you?!"
"Well…Not entirely. Like I said, it's complicated." He shrugged.
"Figures…"
He glared. "The fuck does that mean?"
"He was WAY too badass to be you."
His glare intensified. "Are you giving me a ride or not?!"
She grinned at him. "Okay, but on three conditions."
"Dear god…What do you want, Butters?"
"First, I get to carry you back however I want."
He scratched his head at that. "I mean, I don't care so long as I get back."
"Second, you have to do WHATEVER I say until you get your powers back."
"…No!"
She started hovering off of the ground. "Good luck walking home!"
"WAIT! Jesus Christ...Fine! Just nothing too shitty please." He huffed.
"I promise to try. Now as for the third."
"Yes, go on…"
"I want you to train with me, too."
He tilted his head. "What? You mean like with Bubs? How come? You hardly need my help with that! Besides, there's not much I can do with you right now."
"Dumbass! I don't mean right now! When you're not all lame and useless."
He flipped her the finger. "Eat shit!"
"I'm just curious. It might be…fun or something. Besides, I could stand to get a little tougher. If those girls ever show up again, I'm taking them all down myself."
He looked into her eyes to gauge her interest. Behind her nervous fidgeting, she did seem genuine. That gave him all the acknowledgment that he needed to see.
"Fine. You can train with us BUT, the same rules apply. You do what I say whenever I say it! No whining and no complaining!"
"Tch, who do you think I am? I can take it!" She boasted proudly.
"Okay, are we all square now?"
"Sure." She scooped him up in her arms, carrying him bridal style.
"Eh?! What the hell?!"
"Better not squirm or I might drop you. I doubt you've got super invulnerability now so stay nice and still."
"Dammit Butters! Not cool!"
"Don't be such a little baby. It'll only be a few minutes."
Much to Butch's annoyance, his counterpart would intentionally fly him slower and much lower than he'd expected. He already knew that this wasn't even going to be the extent of his embarrassment for the day.
