New Students Part One

September 1st. This was it. It was the Rangers' first day of their Junior Year of High School, and they were looking forward to yet another year of these so-called "best years of their lives", according to their parents.

Maya was in her driveway in her car waiting for her friends to show up. She still wore her ordinary yellow attire, but Max and DJ planned to wear clothes to better fit their respective colors: red and blue.

Maya leaned back in her seat and started to brainstorm on what had happened a little over two weeks ago when she and DJ we held hostage in Kartae by Po before Max rescued them. Who were those two Rangers? She learned about the missing two Gems, but she has yet to discuss them with Max and DJ whether or not those two Rangers were from Earth, let alone the same town as they live in.

Just then, the passenger seat of her car opened up. She looked over as Max hopped on shut the door and threw his bag behind his seat. Maya looked over and smirked. Instead of wearing the usual stained white T-shirt, as usual, Max now wore a spiffy red dress shirt and black khakis.

Max looked over at his friend and raised his eyebrow. "What?"

Maya chuckled. "I like your new taste in style."

Max rolled his eyes. "Trust me, this was my mom's idea." He then looked down at his clothes and smiled. "But come on, doesn't this look good on me."

Maya shrugged. "I guess so. I hope DJ can top whatever you are wearing."

"I doubt it..." Max muttered.

Then, someone entered the back seat of the car. Maya and Max turned to see DJ sitting with his backpack to the side. DJ had gotten a buzz cut as his dad thought it would make him look more professional. He was now wearing blue jeans a light blue t-shirt and vertical white stripes.

"Hey Deej, you ready?" Maya asked, starting the car up.

"Yup, I just hope Mr. Benson is thrilled to see me again," DJ spoke chuckling.

"Didn't you glue his toupee to the ceiling the last year," Max asked, narrowing his eyes.

DJ tried to hold back a huge grin. "How did you find out?"

Max facepalmed. "Because you pinned it on me."

Maya laughed as she pulled out from the driveway. "Oh yeah! Max had to do extra laps every day after gym class because of that."

"I'm glad I am not in his gym class anymore," DJ said, chuckling.

Max grunted. "Dude, I have to deal with him and my damn Music Teacher this whole year."

Maya glanced over at Max as she drove. "What's wrong with Ms. Deer."

"Have you seen her? She's like a hundred years old and always nagging about how I play my guitar. Like lady, how can you hear how bad I play without your damn hearing aid?!"

They all laughed as Maya continued to drive. Soon enough, they made it to their school. Hundreds of students were already walking towards the main entrance of their rather massive school.

The three grabbed their backpacks and exited the car. As they walked towards the entrance, something at the top of the staircase leading up to the entrance caught DJ's eye.

"Hey guys, look. Is that Donnie and Bonnie?" His friends looked over where he was pointing at and sure enough, their new friends were standing there chatting. Bonnie wore a long ponytail along with the same white attire and Donnie now wore a clear green T-shirt and brown shorts.

Maya grinned as she called out. "Bonnie! Over here!"

The twins looked over where the voice came from and both smiled, climbing down the steps and towards the sidewalk where the three Rangers stood.

"Hey guys," Bonnie greeted. "It's nice that we managed to meet up."

DJ noticed the annoyed look on Donnie's face. "Hey man, what's up?"

Donnie sighed. "Nothing, just not looking forward to school, especially in a new town."

DJ shook his head and smiled, putting a hand on his friend's shoulder. "Don't worry, you will fit right in. What is your first class?"

Donnie answered. "My first class is Gym."

DJ and Max widened their eyes with surprise. "Wow, that's our first class as well. Let's head over right now."

Donnie smiled as the two boys escorted him up the steps towards the school. As the boys left, Bonnie glanced over at Maya and spoke.

"Hey, I got to get to English, I will see around," she spoke.

"English?" Maya inquired. "That's my first-period class."

Bonnie smiled. "Wow, what a coincidence. Shall we head to class?"

"Please, after you, my dear," Maya spoke in a playful, British voice, which got Bonnie to giggle.

It was a rather long day for everyone. DJ managed to get Donnie into driving the Gym Teacher crazy, though Donnie was a little timid to push the teacher too far, much to DJ's dismay. Besides that, they along with Max had a blast together on their first day of school.

During lunch, the two sat outside in the seating area where all the students had their lunch.

As they ate together, Max spoke up. "So Don, what are you into?"

Donnie finished slurping away on his Mountain Dew and spoke. "Well, I like basketball, and baseball, as well as cartoons, even though I just turned sixteen."

DJ scoffed. "Please, we just turned sixteen and we still watch cartoons."

"Yeah, we can never get over Spongebob's laugh," Max spoke before imitating the same character's ironic laughter, which got Donnie to laugh out loud.

"Oh man, you guys are hilarious!" He then looked over at DJ. "Also, Deej, don't forget we have another meeting at the Performance Center. Cole might get pissed if I am late again."

DJ shook his head. "Don't worry, that hot head can't get too angry at us being late."

Max frowned as he looked over at his friend. "He almost put his hands on you when you were absent for a week."

DJ was silent as he slurped away at his fruit punch. They continued with their conversation until the bell rang, signaling to students to return for their next-period class.

Meanwhile, the two girls walked down the hallway towards their next class period, which was Math.

Maya spoke up. "So Bonnie, you and Donnie both live with your mother, right?"

Bonnie frowned and sighed sadly. "We just live with our aunt. We prefer to call her our mother because she adopted us a while ago after...our parents both passed away when Donnie and I were 10."

Maya stopped in her tracks and gasped. "Oh my god. I am so sorry, I shouldn't have-"

Bonnie shrugged. "It's fine. If you were my friend, then you would have found out sooner or later."

Maya then gave Bonnie a small smile. "Are you guys and your aunt close?"

Bonnie smiled. "Yeah, she's very strict but also very sweet. She's everything we would ever want and need from a mother."

Maya cooed and gave Bonnie a shoulder rub. "I am very happy for you. I am sorry for your loss, but I am glad things went well for you and your brother. Your aunt is doing a wonderful job raising you guys."

Bonnie smiled. "Thanks, Maya." They spoke as they walked into the Math classroom.

After two hours, the final bell rang. The students raced to exit the building while Maya and Bonnie decided to go at their own pace.

"Hey, Max and DJ have practice. Do you and your brother need a ride home?" Maya offered as they walked out of the school and towards the direction of her car.

Bonnie shook her head. "No thanks, my house is only a few blocks away from our school. Thanks for offering though." She then looked over to where Maya's car was parked. She chuckled slightly, glancing back at her friend. "Nice car."

Maya sighed as she rolled her eyes. She knew Bonnie was just teasing her as her car was as dusty as it could be. She should have known her mother wouldn't go up and beyond to give Maya a decent car but instead decided to buy a used car from an old shop to give to Maya soon after she turned sixteen.

Maya then smiled. "It's the best car I can find at least, and there is no problem, if you ever want to hang out sometime, then-" She paused in the middle of her sentence when she felt her phone ping.

She picked it up and read a message from Ellie.

*MAYA! Get to DJ's culdesac now. He and Max are both being ambushed by Karadracs!*

Oh, shoot! Maya thought as she put her phone away and glanced up at her new friend. "Bonnie, I gotta go. I'll catch you later."

Bonnie raised an eyebrow at how frantic her friend was becoming, but she decided not to question it as she waved goodbye. "Alright, see ya."

Maya ran towards her car and started it up. She drove at accelerated speed towards DJ's neighborhood and sure enough, both he and Max we fighting off against a dozen Karadracs that surrounded the entire culdesac.

Maya hopped out of her car and ran towards a squad of Karadracs and began throwing punches and kicks.

"Maya, I am so glad you are here!" Max called out as he delivered a crane kick on the face of one K-drac and a hard punch to the gut of another.

"Yeah, wouldn't miss this for the world!" Maya spoke as she and her friends continued to battle Karadracs. After 5 minutes of bbattle all the Karadracs were beaten down by the three rangers and they diminished into thin air.

Max and his friend then gathered in the middle of the culdesac on the thick layer of grass.

"What reason do you guys believe Po would just send Karadracs at us?" DJ asked with his hands on his hips. He knew this was odd. There was no way Po would just send a dozen of his foot soldiers over towards the Rangers for no reason, knowing full well that they were easy to take down. Unless...

"Maybe there is something or someone that is waiting for us nearby and is planning on attacking us soon," Maya spoke.

Max nodded. "Alright, let's just go on a long walk around town just in case." He then pulled out his phone and dialed Ellie's number.

After a few rings, someone answered.

"Hello?"

"Ellie," Max spoke. "It's me."

"Hey, are you done dealing with those freaks?"

"Yeah, but there is something we are wondering. Do you believe Po would have something prepared for us? There is no way he would send Karadracs over unless he had something big in his mind."

Ellie, who was sitting at her computer in her house, scratched her chin as she understood the point Max was trying to make. "You may be on to something. I'd suggest you guys split up and survey the entire area, and whoever finds something has to contact the others."

Max looked up at his friends who both nodded. "Alright, Ellie. Sounds like a plan. We'll get back to you when we find some trouble."

"Good, good luck, guys."

"Thank you." After hanging up, Max gave out orders. He pointed towards the woods west from the culdesac. "DJ, you look into the woods. Maya, you look at the upper side of town, and I will look over at the lower side of town. Clear?"

"Clear." Both Maya and DJ spoke before the three Rangers went their separate ways, unaware of the two mysterious figures watching closely as DJ was traveling deeper into the woods.

"Chasm!" Po called out for his brother. Soon enough, his pebble-faced brother appeared before him. Chasm knelt in solidarity with his older brother.

"Yes, Po."

"Those Rangers have split up and fallen for my trap. My plan is in order. Take the twins and head over to deal with that Blue boy first."

Chasm stood up and took a respectful bow. "As you wish, dear brother."

"Maya!" Max called out for his female friends. For the past hour or so, the two have searched the town for any sort of threat, but so far, nothing.

They met up with each other at the corner of the neighborhood they both lived in.

"Max, don't you think we were overthinking this.?Maybe Po has sent out those Karadracs just because he was bored or something. It is a Friday. Let's just head home." Maya pleaded.

Max sighed. He realized just how ridiculous this was for them to waste their time when there was no clear threat...or was there?

"Let's just call it a night," Maya spoke. "The sun is already setting, so we should let DJ know that we have given up and are heading home for the night."

Max nodded before pulling up his phone and dialing DJ's number. He put the phone on speaker in case Maya also wanted to speak to DJ as well. After a few rings, however, they were directed straight towards voicemail.

"Hey, this is Dean-Jamal Tee. Sorry, couldn't answer your call. Leave a message and have a wonderful day."

Max groaned and he hung up. "Maybe he might have given up as well." He then yawned. "Well, let's just call it a night."

Maya groaned. "I have to get back to the culdesac to fetch my car."

Max shrugged before walking through a gate and towards his home. He looked over and waved goodbye as Maya was walking away as well.

"Good night, Maya."

Maya turned and waved back. "Good night."

Well, this is unfortunate. DJ thought as he walked through the woods trying to find an exit, but he had come to terms that he was lost and was the sun setting. He groaned as he continued walking, his legs aching with every step he took. He was tired, lonely, and hungry.

His hopes had risen once he finally found a passage towards an exit. He speed-walked through and out of the woods but then found that he was in a very deserted area. It was huge and was practically nothing but grass.

He groaned as he looked around to see any clear neighborhoods. He pulled out his phone but then frowned to see it was now completely dead.

He was just about to throw a fit when a portal suddenly opened just 10 feet away from him. He squinted his eyes and reached his arm over his head as the bright light nearly blinded him. Once it dimmed, DJ looked up and was surprised to see a figure before him. This being was tall, with pebbles implanted all over his face, along with bright, yellow hair tied into a ponytail. He also wore a black robe and held a long, thick staff in one hand.

DJ was not stupid. This guy's weird appearance, his intimidating look, as well as the fact that he went through a portal made it very clear: this guy was a Humanitor.

DJ narrowed his eyes as he spoke. "Who are you?!"

The figure snickered. "My name is Chasm. I heard you are the Blue Ranger. How interesting. I was wondering if I could test your strength in a duel that may involve me having to destroy you. My apologies, but I must appease my brother Po."

DJ widened his eyes in shock before he shot a glare. "Think again." He held out his hand and his Blue Gem appeared. "CALL INTO COMBAT!"

After morphing, DJ charged at Chasm while tightly gripping his blade. He swung downwards at the taller creature, who leaped to the left to dodge his strike.

DJ swung his head towards where Chasm leaped. The monster charged at the Blue Ranger, striking DJ repeatedly before using his right hand to strongly grip on DJ's neck.

"I got to say, for a teenager, I like your style." Chasm hissed in his ear. "Too bad you don't stand a chance against me." He cackled before backing up and striking DJ downward, causing the Blue Ranger to fall backward, moaning in pain.

DJ struggled to get up, but then Chasm used his ponytail to stretch itself and wrap it around DJ. DJ grunted as the grip of the thick string of hair was practically suffocating him.

"Let go of me," DJ spoke through his teeth, struggling to catch a breath.

Chasm chuckled. "If you insist." His ponytail lit up dramatically before heavily electrocuting the Blue Ranger.

Smoke emanated from DJ's body as he backed up against the tree, trying to catch his breath after the ponytail mercifully let him go, returning to normal size. Chasm then chuckled.

"Now you are toast!" He spoke as he charged at DJ. Before DJ could get a hold of himself, Chasm used his mighty staff to lay a hard slash at the Blue Ranger, sending him to the air.

DJ unwillingly demorphed the moment he landed on the ground. He was in agony as he moaned.

Chasm chuckled, inserting his staff upon his back. He clapped his hands together as he spoke with a smirk. "I thought you were gonna be much more of a challenge. Are you sure you and your friends are the mighty Power Rangers we have been hearing about?"

DJ groaned dazedly as the monster went on gloating.

Just then, two figures approached from behind Chasm. He turned and smiled as the White and Green Rangers appeared before him.

DJ, through his squinted eyes, witnessed the two Rangers demorph in front of him and Chasm. Chasm smirked as he spoke. "Ah, Donnie and Bonnie. Nice to see you two."

Donnie and Bonnie? DJ thought before he succumbed to unconsciousness.

Hey guys, just a little update.

As some of you may not know, I am currently attending University however the main reason updates have not been slowing down as I thought is because as a freshman, my workload isn't nearly as huge as the upperclassmen's workload. However, I have obtained a part-time job and am currently joining a club based on the career that I am greatly interested in.

I adore writing, but in a few weeks or so, updates may slow down until Winter Break. But even then, I will be working around 30 hours per week during my break (minus Christmas and New Year's) but if updates do slow down, think of these circumstances that may most likely hinder my frequent updates.

Thank you guys so much for understanding.

See you in the next chapter.
