As the leader of the team, Max is considered to be where the heart of the Power Rangers is located. Like his friend DJ, he tends to acquire an absurd amount of energy, which he has obtained from his father, who is a marine veteran. He is the top soccer player in his school and is some sort of a ladies' man. Well, let's just say he doesn't enjoy the attention the girls give him. He also has a taste in music, and would occasionally play a few gigs at the town's cafe. Uni Nakamura chose him as the Red Ranger since Max tends to show the most courage and is willing to give out orders and be there for his team no matter what. Though he does have a limit. He may not be a hothead, but once you cross him, he may explode, and that is a weakness the evil Lord of the Humanitors Po would soon take advantage of.

Though he can be a cold, sometimes selfish person, DJ still knows where his heart lies. Between him and the other rangers, he has had the roughest childhood. He never had a close relationship with his mother and resented his father shortly after a horrific crash that cost his mother her life. Despite those struggles, DJ never seems to give up to cease the next day. Having been interested in martial arts his whole life, he dreams of getting a business degree and maybe opening up his fair share of dojos once he becomes a famous and elite martial artist. Also, while his friends Maya and Max joined the Academy simply to kill time, DJ joined to cope with his inner pains and continued to attend as he has shown some sort of romantic interest in Uni's daughter, Ellie Nakamura, though he tends to tease her to hide his feelings.

The first-generation American, Maya tends to be the only person between the three rangers to have the most common sense. Having lost her father, who was a soldier, Maya strived to be at the top in almost every field to make her father proud, and in case she hadn't realized it, her mother couldn't comprehend how proud she was of her. So many years at the Uni's school have always taught Maya that patience is key to the art of Karate, which could explain how she hasn't snapped at both DJ and Max for their childish antics. Nonetheless, she has expressed her love and appreciation towards her friends and is always willing to do practically anything for them.

Donnie has had a peaceful life with his twin sister as they were raised by their parents. That all changed at the age of 10 when their parents were unexpectedly killed by a powerful figure. By court order, their aunt had taken custody of them and soon moved them to a new town. As they were roaming their town, they came across Po himself, who brainwashed them into believing Sensei Uni Nakamura was responsible for their deaths. Just as they were about to get revenge by killing Uni's daughter, their parents' spirits came by to tell them who was responsible for their deaths, and that was none other than Po. Now they were willing to join the Rangers to get revenge and save the Earth.
Donnie quickly formed a bond with his new friend DJ as they were both into MMA and trained in the same school. However, Donnie is much more serious and can sometimes be cold, but he does have an interest in fun activities with his friends and loves to be active He dreams of one day picking up boxing and becoming a professional boxer but as of now, he spends his days at the dojo dueling with his new best friend, and he is blessed to have a whole group to fight along with against the evil Humanitors.
Bonnibell "Bonnie" Reef

Unlike her brother, Bonnie can be seen as a softie. She can be angry and sassy at times, but overall people view her as someone who can never hurt a fly...well, she doesn't mind kicking some Humanitor butt now and then. She always looked up to her Aunt Rachel, who is a gymnast instructor, and while her brother spends his days at the MMA center, Bonnie spends her time doing gymnastics at the town's youth center, at the age of 16 alone, she has competed in several gymnast competitions, and her medals show their mark. Following the death of the twins' parents, Bonnie felt more connetowards her brother as she felt he was all she had left to maintain her sanity. Thank heavens she made three new friends in her circle as they battle this difficult war against Po.
Uni Itami "Sensei" Nakamura

Uni Nakamura lives, trains, and breathes Karate. Born in Japan and moved to the United States at the age of 15, Uni once dreamed of mastering the art of Karate and carrying on his family's legacy, and he has achieved so much at this point in his life. He only wished he could pass his legacy onto his stubborn daughter, who dreams of becoming a famous engineer, which Uni didn't mind, as her gifted daughter's knowledge led to the creation of the morphers and the Zords. As a child, Uni was friends with a classmate named Po. However, as Uni dreamed of teaching the art of Karate for generations to come, Po dreamed of world domination, as his parents were intergalactic war criminals. Once Po's parents were killed, he soon became rebellious toward the school and the Justices of World Karate. Po and his siblings fled from the academy and searched for power and luckily, Po managed to acquire some by giving up his humanity to become a Humanitor. He then consumed the remains of the Great Legendary Monster and soon became the Lord of the Humanitors. Now that Po was back and has taken almost all of his students, Uni had no choice but to grant powers to three students, none other than Max Cruz, Maya Garcia, and DJ Tee. He only hopes the training he has implemented onto them will pay off as they are destined to save the world, as well as the kidnapped students.

A gifted child since birth, Ellie is a master when it comes to robotics and engineering, and even dreams of one day attending a top university to get an Engineering degree to show everyone her trustworthiness. For the majority of her life, it was just her and her father. Her mother, who was a botanist, disappeared when Ellie was only 5 years of age. Since then, she had always wondered what her mother was like, or if she was even alive. Per her father, she is indeed responsible for reverting the Gems' powers to bracelets for the Rangers to use to morph. She can be heavily annoying, but she does get along well with the other Rangers besides, of course, DJ. However, for some particular reason, Efindsfound DJ's tough attitude and personality to be quite charming and dares even believe that he is somewhat attractive...just don't tell anyone that she thinks that way.

Having taken the seeds to grant him the powers of the evil Lord of the Humanitors, Po has sworn himself that he may exact revenge on his old friend Uni Nakamura, as well as the Justices of Karate for what they had done to his family. He, along with his knowledgeable sister Sky and boastful brother Chasm, have destined himself to destroy the karate school, and he started his plan by kidnapping all of the students. He was furious to figure out that three students have been forgotten about and planned on finishing them off while he works on an even bigger goal: the destruction and total control of the Earth. He is has become evil to the bone. He rules the World of Kartae with an iron fist. However, the lord knows how he would reward any willing Humanitor who takes on the Rangers and succeeds. However, in his possession is a scroll that has predicted every possible outcome so far ever since Po gave up his humanity to evil. It shows in the end that he may destroy Earth once and for all, but it appears to be something missing, and that missing piece of the scroll remains hidden. Furthermore, Po will stop at nothing to destroy Earth and all human life, and rebuild it into his world. However, there is probably nothing the 5 rangers can't handle...right?
