I do not own Power Rangers at all. Also, I AM BACK BABY! Sorry for the long hiatus, being a college student is quite hectic between studying, dealing with roommates, and the parties (hehe..). Now I am back and ready to continue this tale of my favorite team of Rangers.

Okay, let's be very clear. There will be no mention of Max's conflict with his parents. Let's just pretend that this episode (and a few shortly) takes place before Max was forced to move out. This may mess up the story's continuity, but I don't care. I'll leave it up to you guys on which episode takes place in this season's timeline.

Anyway, enjoy.

Maya Garcia, Reporting Live!

The snow melted just after the students returned after a long weekend. Maya had picked all of her friends up and was driving them all to yet another academic day at their school. It was quite a hassle for the Yellow Ranger to add 'picking u your friends' to her criteria, especially since today could perhaps be one of the most crucial days in her academic career.

"You're meeting Brett Peterson?" Max exclaimed from the passenger seat.

"Who?" Donnie interjected from behind the Red Ranger.

"The guy from the Good Morning Wisconsin. The leading local morning broadcasting show." Max explained. "His workplace is downtown."

"How could Maya just so happen to score an interview with him?" DJ asked, sitting between the twins.

Maya put on an egotistical smile as she spoke in a boastful manner. "He may have been intrigued by my gloriousness!"

Bonnie laughed. "Maya, you tease. You are the head of the school newspaper and an inspiring journalist. Stop boasting about it."

"Well, trust me guys. CNN will beg for my application when I am older wait." Maya declared, the smirk still imprinted on her face.

Max rolled his eyes. "I bet Don Lemon is squirming in his seat right now."

They all laughed as they reached the school. The school year was going quite well for them, and it seems their friendship has been going stronger through their duties as Power Rangers.

If only an element could rupture the teens' tight companionship.

Legs crossed as he sat on his now furnished throne, Po narrowed his eyes as he massaged his eyebrows with his thumb and index finger, trying to get his thoughts in order. Many projections played in his mind, particularly of the Rangers heading into their school, looking as jubilant as they can be.

Letting out a scowl, he spoke with disdain laced in his voice. "Those bumbling brats have been a thorn in my side for so long! They disgust me!"

He lunged from his throne and began swinging his baton to let his rage loose. "Uni may have done it. He may have manufactured a team that can be deemed as unbeatable...unless."

A lightbulb lit over his head as he sneered. "I hear Maya is getting evaluated today. Hmm...BUCK!" He hollered.

Just then, his red-faced cousin approached him, feeling rather grim. "Yes, my dear cousin."

"Summon Chamoguin, and send him over to the human world. I hear he has a few tricks up his sleeve."

"Yes sir." Buck gave a polite bow before walking off. Fool. He thought to himself. No matter. Soon enough I shall trample over the king and become ruler of both this world and Earth. It's just a matter of when and how. He snickered.

The first period came and went. Maya was off to her locker, getting herself ready for her second-period class, which was gym class. She loathed the gym with a passion. Even though the teacher. Mrs. Wentz, was extremely sweet, and she was perhaps the most fit of all the girls at her school, she didn't like the attention she got from the boys. It just goes to show that having beauty is both a blessing and a curse. Especially since she was a target of some bullies during that class.

As she started changing, she could hear some snide comments from some dumb blond fashion labels from behind.

"She will never be good enough."

"I know, right? Such a snob. No wonder Max and DJ hang out with her. They're idiots."

"Can you believe your ex likes her?"

"Why would Brett even associate with her?"

Those were the same bullies that Maya had to deal with for so long. Maya just shut her eyes and took a deep breath. They are not worth it. She told herself. She just pulled up her shorts, wrapped her hair in a single ponytail, and walked out of the locker room, only to be bombarded by a figure in the hall.

"Bonnie!" She exclaimed in shock, wondering why her friend was here with her, with a new look "What are you doing? Aren't you supposed to be in Chemistry?" She then narrowed her eyes confusingly. "And where did you get that bun on your head, and those shades?"

'Bonnie' gave a gleeful smile before speaking up. "Didn't you hear? Brett is coming in during lunch hour to meet with you in the principal's lounge."

"What? Where did you hear this?" Maya asked bewilderedly.

'Bonnie' just giggled suspiciously for a brief moment before catching herself, clearing her throat. "On my way to the restroom, I just walked by the principal's office while he was having a conference with the other teachers. They mentioned it. I just had to let you know."

Maya blinked before smiling. "We were not supposed to meet for another few hours. Perhaps he was impatient."

"Perhaps. Anyway, I got to go. See ya, bestie!" 'Bonnie' spoke happily before prancing away.

Maya tilted her head in confusion as she watched her friend disappear into the narrow hallway. Bonnie was acting quite outlandish compared to her usual nature. First of all, she loved having her hair either in a ponytail or released from any form of elastic hold during the evening. Also, when did Bonnie ever refer to Maya as her 'bestie'? True, the two girls have grown close over the past several months, and Bonnie did refer to Maya as her best friend when talking to her relatives, but the term 'bestie' was never in her vocabulary.

Something was strange, but before Maya could question anything, a loud whistle emanated from the gymnasium, signaling that instruction was about to begin.

'Bonnie', the same individual who had just spoken to Maya a few minutes earlier, escaped to the back of the school. The sun shined bright as the mists began to swirl around 'her'. The molecular construction of this particular figure began to transform. Once the mists faded away, the being changed from a specific amber-haired Power Ranger to a grotesque, green, chameleon-type Humanitor with bulging eyes with a negative lens. Despite resembling much of a chameleon, the figure has long, orange-webbed feet.

The monster cackled as he spoke, his voice being as raspy as it had been before he had embarked on this conquest. "I will not let Po down! The Rangers shall implode soon enough once they get a taste of Chamoquin."

The first half of school swung by pretty quickly. Maya rushed through the hallway toward the lounge, looking as excited as ever. She was dying to meet Brett Peterson ever since she had first watched his show around 10 years ago, and now was her chance. She could be seen as more than just an amateur journalist for her school newspaper. She could imagine her future, receiving award after award for her excellent skills in reporting important information to the general public.

She then walked into the spacious lounge, which was surprisingly empty, save for a very familiar individual, who peeked up from looking at his phone when he noticed the Hispanic teenager walking in. This man had dirty blond hair that was slicked back, along with a tan suit.

Brett Peterson stood up and grinned. "Well if it isn't Maya Garcia! I have heard about you from my assistant" He said happily, with a smile that looked quite odd, but the excitement of meeting him caused Maya to not notice this man's off demeanor.

Maya shook his hand, grinning excitedly. She couldn't believe Brett Peterson was here. "I am so psyched to meet you finally. You have been my idol since I first learned to record a video!"

'Brett' merely chuckled as he signaled Maya to tone down her excitement by a notch. "You know, this city has been receiving a lot of the media's attention lately. Do you know why that is?"

Maya raised an eyebrow, her smile still implanted on her face. "Um, perhaps it's because of the new monument of the person who invented cheese." She joked but then frowned when Brett's voice began to grow serious.

"No... there have been supernatural forces wreaking havoc in this very city. Many people have lost their homes and livelihoods because of them. Are you aware of those supernatural forces?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

Maya frowned and gulped as her nerves became agitated. "I don't believe this has anything to do with me." She said. She knew this conversation was going in a direction she wouldn't like, but she didn't want her idol to become disappointed.

'Brett' took a step forward toward the girl. "Maya, those color-coded heroes known as the Power Rangers are a crucial story to cover, and I need a volunteer to become an investigative reporter for the case. The casualties would have been greater if it wasn't for those heroes, but I want more details. Those specific details could enhance my career, and it could also jumpstart yours."

Maya's eyes widened in shock. Her mind was barely able to process what Brett had confessed to her. He wants her to film the Rangers. He was oblivious to the fact that at that very moment, he was speaking to one.

Could Maya do it? Could she sell herself and her friends out just to benefit herself? She has always destined herself to be behind a camera, presenting the public with its daily recommended news, and the Power Rangers have resulted in a massive media storm on the internet, especially when an accurate conspiracy that these Rangers could be ordinary civilians living in suburbia.

Maya then looked up at the man and put on a smile. "I believe if we could scoop together another story."

'Brett' frowned. "Well, perhaps coming here was a waste of time then. I must be off."

"Wait!" Maya stopped him. "I'll do it!" She blurted out, obviously desperate for any chance to make it big. "I'll record what I can. I won't let you down."

'Brett' smiled. "It's good to hear that. I'll be at the local station if you need me. I'm counting on you, Maya."

Maya put on a forced grin as she watched 'Brett' slip out of the room. Once he was out of sight, she took a deep breath and facepalmed herself. How could she agree to this? This could put her identity at risk. This could ruin all of her friendships.

She needed to reevaluate her decisions.

Just then, she heard her phone vibrate in her pocket. She pulled it out and stared at Ellie's caller ID with confusion. Ellie was marked absent today, and even posted on her social media that she was having a sick day. Maya answered her phone. "Hello?"

"Maya! The Disturbance Alarm went, and I'm seeing a Humanitor heat signature near you on my monitor."

"What are you talking about?" Maya asked bewilderedly. "I'm seeing nobody, and the school would have shut down if a monster appeared here."

"That's impossible...wait! The signal is now coming from just outside the school!"

"Aren't you sick today?"

"That's not important! Just suit up and get into action!"

"On it!" Maya ended the call and was just about ready to morph when she noticed the corner of her eye surveillance glancing in her direction. She merely facepalmed before bolting out of the office, hoping to make it outside to deal with the monster.

That's it for this chapter! Don't worry, the next will come in a jiffy.
