I do not own Power Rangers at all. Just the OCs.
Maya Garcia Reporting Live Part Two
Maya rushed over to the back of the school, her heart racing at a mile a minute, but immediately stopped at the corner of the building. Her eyes stared in shock as all her friends have already morphed and were battling a strange, chameleon-like monster in the middle of the parking lot. The beast was putting on a good fight, using his tongue as a weapon as this Ranger, stretching it out and striking each Ranger with it like it was a cowboy's whip.
Maya just stood there, her feet glued to the ground. She thought of what 'Brett' had said back in the lounge and thought that he was right. Sure, she was a Power Ranger, but nobody besides her friends knew that.
She thought of her mother, brother, and late father. Her father was a hero before he died, and when he was still alive, people would only recognize Maya as being Diego Garcia's father. Nobody else gave her condolences besides her friends after he died. Her name became irrelevant, and even back then, she was only known as her father's daughter.
She and her brother Pablo were close and as much as she loved him with all her heart, Maya envied Pablo. He was doing all these extracurriculars and volunteering work. He made a large sum of money from years of selling his old clothes, which got him some media coverage and a selfie with the governor. To everyone, she was just Pablo's sister.
Lastly, her mother. The most prominent mother in her town. Working hard to afford a comfortable life for her kids, Adana never really enjoyed the attention she was getting for her hard work, but she still accepted it. Maya always looked up to her mother. She truly believed she had the most caring mother in the entire world. She was her idol. But to everyone's eye, she was just her mother's little girl.
Which is why she kept pushing herself into journalism. She wanted to be admired. She wanted people to look up to her. She tried to make her mother proud. She tried to make her name RELEVANT. She just wanted to be great. She wanted to BE someone.
And that caused her to pull out her phone and record the action, not even bothering to help her friends out. She was going to make it big, no matter what it took.
Meanwhile, the Rangers were barely able to keep up with the monster. Chamoguin was able to dodge every swing of a sword or staff, before stretching his tongue at an astronomical length toward Bonnie, wrapping around her waist.
"Hey!" The White Ranger shouted, desperately trying to pry herself from the tongue's deathly grip by whacking it violently with her staff, but it was useless.
"Okay, White Ranger, let's dance!" Chamoguin cackled. The boys all gasped as Chamoguin's tongue managed to lift Bonnie high in the air. Her legs are dangling as she cries for help.
Donnie pulled out his bow and shot an arrow at the monster. "Get your slimy tongue off my sister!" The impact of the Green Ranger's blazing green arrow caught Chamoguin off-guard. He screeched, releasing Bonnie from his grip, and reeling his tongue back into his mouth.
Chamoguin stumbled backward as the three boys came to Bonnie's aid, who had just hit the ground hard after being released from the monster's death grip. "Gah! You teenage brats!" He then glanced over and noticed Maya recording the entire thing. My little scheme worked. The Rangers' chemistry is through.
He then focused his attention on the Rangers. "Okay, let's play Marco Polo!" He said. Just then, he disappeared. Like an invisible cloak had just covered him.
The Rangers were caught off-guard. "Where is he?" DJ asked. The Rangers all looked around, trying to find a trace of him.
Then his voice rang from the opposite side from where the Rangers were facing. "Polo!" He laughed as he shot green beams from his eyes at each of the Rangers, blasting them to the ground. His cloak disappeared and he was visible again, laughing hysterically. "Well, I guess that's enough for today. Later Rangers!" He said, before disappearing again and running off.
Max grunted in frustration as he and the other tiredly got back onto their feet and demorphed. "It's fine." He murmured to them. "They come back. They always come back."
Bonnie managed to catch her breath, still recovering from the miniature tongue ride the monster gave her. "Where...where was Maya?"
On cue, Maya rushed over to the scene, trying to piece together an act. "Sorry, I'm late!" Maya began to laugh hyperactively, which was unusual coming from a calm and collected person like her. It was already quite bizarre that she was late.
Max glared at Maya, his hands on his hips. "Why were you late?" He demanded.
Maya tried to cover up what she had been doing. "Um, my phone was in my locker, and I was in a meeting with Brett."
All of the other Rangers looked confused. "What are you talking about? You weren't supposed to meet him until after school." DJ pointed out.
"Yeah, but Bonnie came into the gym just to tell me that he was here!" She looked at her and grinned. "Thanks for the heads up, by the way. Anyway, I got to go!" She said, frantically running back into the building.
Bonnie then bewilderedly asked. "What is she talking about?"
"You spoke to her?" Donnie asked, scratching his head.
"No! I have seen her since she drove us to school this morning!" Bonnie exclaimed.
All four Rangers were starting to wonder what on Earth was going on. More importantly, they wondered if Maya was in the right state of her mind. It was already strange enough that she would show up late for a fight. She's usually the first to show up on duty, whether it was for class or for fighting villains. Something was fishy, and it was making the other Rangers' stomachs turn. They knew if Maya were to be involved in anything hectic, it would put the Power Rangers in jeopardy ann turn, the entire world.
Po's siblings, Sky and Chasm, were rushing to their brother as the Lord began grunting in pain, signaling he needed his serum.
"Give...me...the serum," Po demanded in between deep breaths. Sky nodded to Chasm, who handed Po a small ampoule of purple serum. The dosage was crucial for Po to maintain his form. The very day Po and his family had given up their humanity for evil, they had zero issues with their new figures. However, one particular fight with his old enemy resulted in severely damaged them. His brother and sister nearly lost him that very day. Luckily for Po, Sky manages to obtain a formula for the serum during the attack. The only issue was that Po would have to continue taking the serum, or he would suffer horrible complications that would result in his demise.
Unbeknownst to Po and his siblings, a particular monster is out to get him, and he has the perfect weapon to do so.
Later that evening, the twins invited Max and DJ to their house after school to watch Maya on live television. Though they were a bit nervous about their friend's well-being, they figured it would be best to see how she would perform. Especially since Maya had bailed on them after school, leaving the four other Rangers to have to walk home.
They all piled together on the couch that was in front of the twins' TV.
"This is so exciting!" Bonnie squealed in her seat. Her brother, who sat next to her on the far right side of the couch, put his hand on her shoulder to calm her down. Bonnie just giggled as Donnie rolled his eyes. "Sorry, it's just that this is such a big deal for Maya!"
"Just chill out, Bonnie." DJ reprimanded. "It's not like she's being inaugurated as the first female president of the United States!
Max merely chuckled as his can of soda to his mouth. "Yeah, let's just see how well this goes." He said as he took a swig. All four Rangers turned their attention as the afternoon news was broadcasting live. Brett Peterson, the known reporter, and journalist, was reporting the news.
"This just in, the Power Rangers were seen battling a monster on a high school parking lot."
Max immediately took a spit-take of what he had heard. The four teens watching the evening news were stunned by what was being displayed on the screen. Footage of their battle with Chamoguin was playing for the public to see.
"Joining us is an honor student, Maya Garcia, who captured the footage of the heroes fighting near her school."
Just then, Maya, the Yellow Ranger herself, appeared unmorphed, sitting next to Brett behind the panel.
"Thank you for having me, Brett." She said with a smile.
All of her friends, who were watching in mere shock, could not believe what they were witnessing. Maya sold them out just for clout. How could she do this? How?
"So, what do you make of this footage you captured near your very own school?" Brett asked with a grin.
"Well, Brett," Maya began, batting her eyelashes. "I just took your advice about capturing the crucial details of a juicy story."
Brett then looked confused. "My advice? What do you mean?"
Maya raised an eyebrow but just laughed it off. "Just something of that sort. Anyway, I walked outside of my school when I heard some sort of a commotion going on and..."
DJ had heard enough of it. He just grabbed the TV and shut the programming off. All four Rangers were baffled by Maya's actions. Each of their faces was a mix of anger and anguish. They knew the Yellow Ranger was going to get it.
"The plan had succeeded, boss. The Yellow Ranger had sold her friends out. Their friendly dynamic is now finished."
Chamoguin had made it back to Kartae to a debrief with Buck, who had his back turned, sneering at the thought of his enemies turning against one another. "Excellent. You're doing better than I had anticipated. Now go off into the human world and have some leisure scaring those helpless humans. You deserve some fun."
Chamoguin took a bow in salute. "Thank you, my lord." He said before bolting off.
Buck knew for a fact that the destruction of the Rangers' friendship would be the icing on the cake for what he would deliver to the human world. He took out a distinct-looking box and smirked.
"The powers of the ancient Samurai in the Sacred Box," he muttered, snickering under his breath. "My key to destroying Po, his ill-gotten siblings, and the Rangers. This entire world, along with Earth, shall be mine!"
"Dad!" Ellie called out as she entered Karate Ops, finding her father meditating on a black mat in the middle of the room.
Uni only sighed as he glanced over at Ellie. "Yes, darling."
Ellie furrowed her eyebrows, holding her tablet to her side. "I met with Hideo at the Sei Gate, and he mentioned that the Sacred Box had been stolen when the Rangers had visited several weeks ago when Po's cousin ambushed them."
Uni's eyes widened as he lunged to his feet. "Why haven't you disclosed this to me?!"
Ellie began to panic as she looked through her tablet. "I just found out! He told me he was too scared to tell you because he knew you would freak out! There is no signal from it anywhere."
"Ellie, the fate of the world would be in danger if that box falls into the wrong hands!" Uni then caught himself before he would lose it. "Honestly, it is fine."
Ellie glanced up from her tablet and raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean 'it is fine'?" She asked questionably.
Uni smirked. "You'll see."
Okay, so Maya's friends feel betrayed, and Buck has the sacred box. What happens next? Just stay tuned.
