Kicking it to the Max Part Five
"Take THAT!" The Yellow Ranger screamed as she fired her bow gun at the red-clad ninja. However, Maxine easily deflected the blast with a wave of his hand, then sent a gust of wind at the Yellow Ranger.
"Maya!" DJ yelled as he rushed over to his teammate and helped her up.
Maya winced. "What can we do?" She exclaimed as the Red Ninja leaned against one of the panels, giggling.
"I do not know!" DJ said, panting and holding his head. He felt hopeless.
Then, Maya flashed an idea. "Wait, you used to work with one of your dad's friends with his construction team, right?"
"Yeah, why?"
"What material is used to make up the roof of a building, or a warehouse."
The Blue Ranger tilted his head, puzzled "Well, it is mainly just metal...why?"
"I can use my power to make the roof shake. That could signal to Max that we are up here. If the twins are keeping the ice cold, and if Maxine is distracted, that could give Max the green light to make a move. He may be able to rescue his parents."
DJ thought for a moment and spoke. "Are you sure that is going to work?"
"We just got to keep fighting! It's two against one, after all."
DJ looked over at the Red Ninja, who was jumping from left to right, anticipating a continuing battle. "I do not think it is much of a hassle for her to take us down," he groaned.
The ceiling continued to tremble, signaling to Max that it was now or never. He raised his index finger upwards as he initiated one of the beginner aerial moves that Uni taught him.
"Air gush, eagle leap!" He called. He then leaped into the air high enough to hop over and into the vat, gliding his way inside as he made his way into the vat.
His mother, who was half-submerged in the water, did not see, feel, or hear anything as the Red Ranger landed next to her with a mild splash. Max drew his blade, wedging it in between his mother's neck and the chain, before finally slashing the bearing, letting his mother loose, but she was still unconscious.
Max picked up his mother with both arms before using every bit of air power he had to leap over and out of the vat. After landing, he set his drenched mother down
Mary moaned lightly. Max just caressed his mother's wet hair. "It's okay, Mom. We'll be home soon." He said softly before shifting his attention as the ceiling continued to tremble. He rang his communicator. "Ellie? Ellie, do you copy?"
"Yes?" The girl replied.
"You can see anything right?"
"Well, that's only possible considering I normally just hack into any surveillance system in the city," Ellie explained
"Just find out where Maxine is for me please," Max begged, almost hissing. His face was reddened with rage. He wanted to pound Maxine to death, even if it would endanger him and his team.
"Give me a second," Max could hear Ellie type vigorously on her keyboard. "Okay...I GOT IT!"
"What?!" Max shouted.
"Maya and DJ are on the roof with her, and it looks like Donnie just joined them. Bonnie is still outside, keeping the temperature down for the block of ice."
"The ice?" The realization then it Max like a bullet. He looked over and noticed his father's face was turning blue from where he was.
"Dad..." Max muttered. He realized he needed to kick things to the next level. He pulled out the Sacred Box and upgraded his armor. After which, he rang someone else on his communicator.
"Donnie! Donnie, are you there?!"
He could hear Donnie grunting on the other end. "Max, now it's not the time!" He exclaimed before letting out a tiny yelp. Max could hear Maxine cackling from a distance. "Hold still, you creep!"
"Where is Maxine, at the moment."
"What?" Donnie beckoned for Max to repeat himself.
"Where is Maxine? Is she nearing the center of the roof?"
"DJ, duck your head... Max, she is on the far edge, I don't think-"
"Just fight her toward the middle and give me the green light!" Max instructed. He readied his rocket boosters and his wings, ready to take liftoff once given the signal.
"Okay...okay, Max... she is almost there. DJ and Maya are fighting her...she's backing up...and...NOW!"
Max shot up from the ground and took flight upward through the roof. DJ, Donnie, and Maya were all hurled backward from the sudden implosion. However, the armored Red Ranger, who had suddenly caught Maxine by the arm, snickered to himself as he soared through the dark blue sky.
"Hello to you!" He said with a sneer.
Maxine was confused and scared at the moment, but then her expression turned fierce as she tried to pry the Red Ranger's grip off of her, but the rage he felt because of her only fueled his strength. Maxine did the cardinal sin of messing with Max's family, and now she would pay the price.
Max flew over the river, determined to finish Maxine once and for all.
The Red Ninja clutched onto the red hero's armored shoulder. Her mask was now torn apart from the impact of being bombarded by the Red Ranger. Her face was laced with hatred and unease. She hissed in Max's ear. "Do as you please...but rest assured, no matter how much you try, your family will never be 100 percent safe. Happy birthday...because this may be your last."
Max then jerked to a stop when red ooze began to erupt from Maxine's mouth suddenly. He knew where this was coming, from and let Maxine loose. The girl plummeted 100 feet downward before submerging into the rushing waters. Suddenly she reemerged from the river as she enlarged into a stork-like monster. Her eyes were large and green, her mouth being a large pointed beak. Raising her red-feathered arms, she let out a sonic screech, catching Max off-guard.
"Donnie, help me get him down!" The Blue Ranger beckoned as he swung his ax at Bobby's noose. The dazed police officer gasped for air as he almost fell off of the ice, but the boys caught him and laid him down gently on the floor.
The girls attended to Mary, who started regaining. Her clothes were drenched, but that wasn't what concerned her. What grabbed her attention were the color-coded heroes that were attending her.
"W-Where am I?" She asked, before realizing who the individuals around her were. "Oh my goodness...you guys are the Power Rangers!"
The White Ranger nodded her head with pride and said warmly. "Yes, we are!" She chuckled. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine...I do not know what happened! I was kidnapped one moment, and then that last thing I saw was my husband and-" She was cut off as she noticed the Green and Blue Rangers shaking her husband to wake up. "Bobby!" She was about to jump up from her feet, but the female Rangers stopped her.
"Ma'am, we need you to keep calm." The Yellow Ranger said.
"Don't tell me to calm down!" Mary fired back. She rushed over to her husband, pushing the Green Ranger aside. "Bobby!" She shook her husband, who merely moaned in response. There was still a bloodied bump on the back of Bobby's head where the Red Ninja struck him, and it was clear he may have suffered a concussion.
Just then, the rangers' communicators pinged. Maya answered hers. "Yes?"
"It's Zord Time!" Max exclaimed on the other end.
All four rangers nodded their heads as the Blue Ranger knelt next to Mary. "Listen, we have other matters to attend to. Just stay here until we get back. We'll make sure you get home safely afterward. You probably have an important night tonight, is that right?"
Mary nodded her head. "Yes...it's my son's birthday."
"Well, we'll make sure you won't miss it." He then stood and nodded to the Yellow Ranger.
"Guys, let's go!" She said. They all bolted out of the warehouse, leaving Mary and her dazed-out husband behind.
"Bat Zord!" The Green Ranger hopped into his Zord and flew it out of a cave and over the forest.
"Bear Zord!" The White Ranger's Zord followed the Bat out of the cave.
"Shark Zord!" The Blue Ranger drove the Zord through the river.
"Cheetah Zord!" The Yellow Ranger's Zord sprinted through the city.
"Eagle Zord!" Max took command as all 5 zord, along with Max's newly acclaimed Condor Zord, formed together.
The Megazord dipped its feet into the water as it stood off against the mutated Maxine.
The crane let out a screech as she cursed out the Rangers. "I am not beaten yet!" She squealed before shooting beams from your eyes. The Megazord's functions were hindered as the beams struck it from head to toe.
"Hold steady!" Max said, gripping his controls. Just then, Maxine extended her wings and took to the skies.
"Catch me if you can!" She teased before flying off.
"Oh yeah! Two can play at that game!" Max hollered. "Condor Zord, disengage!"
The Megazord disassembled as Max took the Condor Zord and flew it over the city, inching closer to Maxine.
Max pressed the accelerator as hard as he could. He wanted retribution. What Maxine did was unspeakable, and she wasn't going to get off so easily. No one messes with the Cruz family and would get away.
Maxine began to panic as the Condor Zord was closing in.
The armored Red Ranger slammed his foot against the accelerator as he called out. "Condor Zord, power up! Engage!"
"No, no, no, no, NO!" Maxine let out one final bird screech as the Condor Zord sliced her through with its left wing. Max managed to fly a safe distance from the crane as Maxine wailed, falling downwards into the river with a mighty splash. Then, she erupted. A massive wave of water swept the area, throwing fish and other creatures into the air.
The Red Ranger breathed in and out as he settled the Condor Zord on the top of an adjacent mountain.
"Two ninjas down..." he muttered venomously. "Happy birthday to me."
"Max!" A voice rang from the radio next to the zord's controls.
"Yes, Maya?" Max replied wearily.
"Just wanted to say that your parents are fine! Just transported them to the hospital. Get yourself ready, because it's time to party, birthday boy!"
Max rolled his eyes and chuckled. After a long day he had, he probably didn't have much in his tank to party, but 'you're only 17 once' was what he guessed before flying the Condor Zord back into town.
"Marco, I hope your intel is worth my time," Po said as he sat on his throne. Marco was in uniform as he knelt submissively to his 'master'.
"Your majesty, I can assure you I shall burn enough energy by the time I am done with the Yellow Ranger. Just please, allow me to get my revenge. That repulsive Casanova has brought me into this dreaded world. Now that he is no longer around, it's time for his daughter to pick up the tab."
"I honestly could care less about your ambitions, as both Dejahnay and Maxine have had their own yet failed." Po pointed out, grumbling. "However, if you manage to take out the Yellow Ranger AND allow me to finish my plan, then break a leg!"
Marco nodded his head excitedly. "Thank you, my lord."
Max gasped as Maya slipped a blindfold over his eyes. He had just finished getting dressed after taking a shower when the girl snuck up from behind and ambushed him.
"Shh, just keep walking," she whispered. Max felt a surge of excitement as Maya guided him down the stairs and into the kitchen, where she removed the blindfold. Suddenly, a shower of confetti was thrown at him by a party of people.
"SURPRISE!" A chorus of voices shouted. Max looked around the kitchen and saw DJ, Maya, Donnie, Bonnie, Maya's mother, DJ's father, Maya's brother, the twins' aunt, Ellie, Uni, and both of Max's parents.
"Oh my god, guys!" He exclaimed with joy. He spotted his karate teacher. "Sensei, you came? Never knew you were interested in birthdays."
"What? I may be serious, but I am still human," Uni joked, grinning.
DJ chuckled. "This is the first time I have seen him where something casual," he said, referring to Uni's classic white dress shirt and black khakis.
Max looked over at his dad and frowned. "Are you okay, Dad?"
Bobby smiled weakly. "I'm okay son. Just a minor concussion...I've suffered worse."
"You don't have to celebrate if the pain is too much."
"No..." he grumbled. "I am not going to miss this for the world." He said with a smile, ruffling his son's hair. Max shook his head and smiled back.
Mary lit the candle on the chocolate cake that was on the table and motioned her son over. "Make a wish, honey."
Max grinned, thinking of a wish before blowing out. He was met with a round of applause from his guests.
Mary laughed as she clutched onto her son. Bobby joined in on the family hug. The three of them were reunited after having almost lost one another. Max honestly did not care for the other guests, all he wanted at that moment were his parents.
Maya knew she had to capture this moment. She pulled out her phone and said to the family. "Say cheese!"
"CHEESE!" The Cruz family repeated.
It certainly did warm Maya's heart to see the Cruz family still together after what they went through. However, Maya was concerned for a moment, especially since the Yellow Ninja was still alive, and if he were to be different from but just as crazy as the Dejahnay and Maxine, then there is no telling what atrocity Marco would inflict on Maya or anyone.
Two ninjas have now been destroyed, and trust me, the final ninja's battle will be sweeter than the previous two!
