Can't Wait to be Queen
(Special performance by Matthew Broderick)
Kion and Kiara were walking around Hakuna Matata Falls, looking for a place to rest when they came across a tree with some claw marks on it.
Kiara looked at Kion, "So, is this your tree, or is this one mine?"
"Honestly, I have no idea," Kion admitted, "I've been more focused on my Lion Guard duties, that I completely forgot."
"Oh, well, a tree's a tree," Kiara shrugged as she and Kion sat side by side near the tree, "So, how are your Lion Guard duties holding up?"
"Doing pretty good," Kion answered, "Though it is rough with Janja and his hyenas causing trouble and some thunderstorms but, other than that, it's going well as long as I have my friends by my side."
Kiara nodded, "Yeah, they always have your back," she smirked, "Especially Fuli since I know how you feel about her."
Kion blushed and then he smirked, "Oh, so we're talking about crushes now? How's that lion cub you never shut up about?"
"Shut up!" Kiara nudged Kion's shoulder as she was blushing and they both shared a little laugh.
"Well, looks like you two are getting along," Kion and Kiara turned to see their father, Simba, walking towards them, "What are you two talking about?"
"Hey, Dad, we're just teasing each other," Kion answered.
Kiara nodded, "Yeah, so, what brings you here, Dad?"
"Well, Kiara, I just came to tell you that you're gonna be acting queen for the next few days," Simba answered.
"Wait, what, me a queen?" Kiara said in shock, "I mean, I know I'm gonna be queen and all but I didn't expect it to be this soon."
"Dad, what's going on?" Kion asked in concern, "You're not sick, are you?"
"No, Kion, I'm fine," Simba reassured his son, "It's just that Kiara is gonna be acting queen while your mom and I are away at Kilio Valley."
"Kilio Valley?" Kiara repeated, "Why are you visiting Aminifu and his elephants?"
"Because Kiara, we have a funeral to attend," Simba answered, looking down, "Aminifu has passed away."
"Oh-no," Kiara said, sadly.
"He was a wise elephant," Kion said with his ears pinned down.
"Yes, he was," Simba nodded, "He helped the Pride Lands return to normal after Scar was defeated. Once the elephants returned, the Circle of Life came back into balance," he explained, "And now, Aminifu has completed his role in the Circle of Life."
"I'm so sorry, Dad," Kiara said, and then she became curious, "Um, how long will you and Mom be gone?"
"Just for a few days as we leave tomorrow," Simba answered, "And I'll let you in on a little secret - I was nervous at first too," Simba reassured.
"I'm not nervous," Kiara defended, and then she got nervous, "OK, maybe I am a little bit."
"Don't worry, I have faith in you," Simba reassured and then he turned to Kion, "And the Lion Guard of course," Kion smiled and then Simba remembered something, "Oh, that reminds me, Kion, when you go on patrol later, tell Kufu that his moms are coming with us as our escorts."
Kion nodded, "I'll let him know."
Simba turned back to Kiara, "Just keep the peace and everything will be fine, Kiara," he said before walking back to Pride Rock.
"Don't worry, Dad, I won't let you down!" Kiara called out.
"Don't worry, I'm pretty sure you'll do a great job, Kiara," Kion told his sister, "Or should I say, Queen Kiara?" Kion teased, nudging Kiara's shoulder which made her laugh, nervously.
The next morning, Simba and Nala left Pride Rock and headed towards Kilio Valley with Kula and Tama escorting them and Zazu flying above them.
"Kinda surprised that you two wanna come along with us," Nala said to the two lionesses, "I thought you wanted to stay back and keep an eye on Kufu?"
"Well, Aminifu is an old friend of the four of us, of course we're coming to say our goodbyes," Tama admitted, "Well, that, and also we're your escorts."
Kula nodded in agreement, "Yeah and even though we tend to worry about Kufu from time to time, we know that he can handle himself."
Simba chuckled, "Look at us, it's just like old times when we all hung out and went on adventures as cubs and sometimes got into trouble."
Nala smirked at her mate, "And most of the time, the trouble came from you," she teased, causing Kula and Tama to laugh.
Simba laughed as well, "OK, I deserve that but, still, it's just like old times," he then lowered his head, "And even though one of us is not around anymore, he will always be with us."
Kula, Tama, and Nala nodded in agreement, remembering their fallen friend.
"So, do you think Kiara's gonna be OK acting queen 'till we get back?" Tama asked, changing the subject.
"I'm pretty sure she'll be OK," Simba said and then he got nervous, "Though, it is a big responsibility."
"Worried about Kiara, Simba?" Nala asked.
"Or are you worried about your tribute?" Kula asked.
"And why would I be worried about that, Kula?" Simba wondered with a raised eyebrow.
"Maybe, it's because you have to say it in Elephantese?" Tama answered, "And if there's one thing we all know about you growing up, is that you suck at speaking Elephantese," she said with a chuckle as Kula and Nala nodded in agreement.
Simba groaned and rolled his eyes, "Yes, elephants and their traditions."
"And they take those traditions very seriously, Sire," Zazu said, flying towards Simba.
"Oh, believe me, I know," Simba nodded, "And it has to be perfect."
"True, but it's just one phrase," Zazu cleared his throat, "Eihe Kala Pano Tou."
"Easy for you to say," Simba said, rolling his eyes.
"I suppose it is," Zazu agreed, "Though I am fluent in elephant not to mention gorilla, chimpanzee, and several dialects of bushbucks."
"Show off," Kula and Tama said in unison.
"Yes, Zazu, we know," Nala said.
"Believe me, Sire, by the time we get there, I'll have you speaking like a true elephant," Zazu said.
But as they were walking, they didn't know that Mzingo the vulture was watching them leave.
"Simba and Nala leaving the Pride Lands," Mzingo said with interest, "This will be worth keeping an eye on," he flew back into the Pride Lands.
"It's times like this that almost make me wish I wasn't king," Simba admitted.
"Come on now, Sire, it's really not as bad as all of that," Zazu reassured his king.
"How is having to say goodbye to an old friend in a language I don't understand not as bad?" Simba fired back.
"Yes, that is an unfortunate duty," Zazu agreed, "But you have so many other wonderful ones, Sire, if I may say so."
"Actually, Zazu, maybe Simba could use a little reminder?" Nala suggested.
"Yes, of course," Zazu agreed.
Zazu:
Everyone in the Pride Lands big or small
Looks forward to whenever you may call
A giraffe and a hyrax saw Simba and rushed over to him and bowed before him with Zazu in the middle bowing as well and Simba then saw other animals bowing.
A visit from your highness is an honor yes it's true
All your subjects wants so much to be with you
So embrace your position
The Royal Tradition
Uniting the Pride Lands with every little thing
In all of the wonderful duties of the king
Simba, Nala, Kula, and Tama jumped over a little pond and some fish were jumping in the water.
You welcome birds from all around
Grant gazelles their grazing grounds
Behoove the official turaco whistles
Guard the clearing of pointing thistles
Reside over aardvark wedding rights
Coach the mongooses and their bites
Listen to the zebras' silly pleas
And bless any animal when they sneeze
So embrace your position
The Royal Tradition
Uniting the Pride Lands with every little thing
In all of the wonderful duties of the king
In all of the wonderful duties of the king
You set the limits of Bushbuck hopping
Judge the hippo's belly-flopping
Consider crocodiles complaints
And tend to kiss baby porcupines oh so gently
Simba:
Assign the songbirds to their trees
Advice confused chimpanzees
Ceremonial naming of the bees
Zazu:
Consoling giraffes when they get fleas
Simba:
Actually, that's not much fun
Zazu:
The fleas do tend to spread but that's said
So embrace your position
Simba:
The Royal Tradition
Zazu:
Uniting the Pride Lands with every little thing
In all of the wonderful
Simba:
In all of the wonderful
Simba and Zazu:
In all of the wonderful duties of the king
In all of the wonderful duties of the king
"That's more like it," Nala said.
"Nice," Kula said, nodding her head.
"That help you, Simba?" Tama asked.
"Yes it did," Simba admitted, "Thank you, Zazu, I feel better now."
"Wonderful, Sire," Zazu said, "Now, about your Elephantese accent?"
Simba gulped as he and Nala continued walking.
"This is not gonna end well, is it?" Kula asked, shaking her head.
"Nope," Tama answered her mate, "But might as well enjoy the show," she and Kula followed behind.
"Hey, did you hear?" Beshte asked as he walked towards the Guard, "Kiara is queen of the Pride Lands."
"Yeah!" Bunga exclaimed, "it's un-bunga-lievable!"
"Eh, it was bound to happen, eventually," Fuli said, nonchalantly.
"I'm sure she'll be a nice queen," Beshte smiled.
"Well, Beshte, Kiara's only gonna be queen 'till King Simba and Queen Nala come back," Kufu reminded, "Along with my moms, of course."
"Speaking of which, I'm surprised your moms are going with them," Fuli admitted, "Because no offense, but sometimes, they can be overprotective of you."
"No, I get it, Fuli, I get they can be overprotective and they do that because they love me but they know that I can handle myself," Kufu reassured the Fastest.
"Well, you are my Slyest member, Kufu," Kion said as he joined the Guard and then they realized that they were one member short, "Hey, has anyone seen Ono? It's not like him to be late for morning patrol."
"Hey, here he comes," Bunga pointed out, seeing Ono flying towards them, and then he flew past him, "And there he goes," he said in confusion as they saw him flying towards Pride Rock.
"That's weird, why is he going to Pride Rock?" Kufu wondered.
The rest of the Guard made their way to Pride Rock to see what's going on and saw Ono standing near the edge of Pride Rock, cleaning his feathers.
"Hey, Ono!" Kion called out, startling the egret, "What are you doing here? We have patrol."
"Oh, I'm sorry, Kion," Ono apologized, "Uh, Queen Kiara asked me for a favor."
"She did? Well, where is she?" Kion asked.
Kufu nudged Kion's shoulder, getting his attention, and motioned his head to the entrance of Pride Rock to see Tiifu and Zuri standing side by side at the entrance with wide smiles on their muzzles.
"Announcing her Royal Majesty..." Zuri began.
"Ruler of the Pride Lands..." Tiifu followed.
"Queen Kiara!" The two lioness cubs finished in unison, stepping aside as Kiara walked out of the den, "Make way for the queen."
Kiara passed Bunga and he instantly got to his knees.
"Your Majesty," Bunga said as he bowed before Kiara.
"Bunga, that's really unnecessary," Kiara told the honey badger.
"Thank you, Your Majesty..." Bunga raised his head, only to be pushed down by Tiifu.
"You're a queen now, Kiara," Tiifu reminded, "So, let him bow."
"Yeah, everyone should bow," Zuri agreed and then Kiara looked at her, "Well, not us, we're your services."
"It's my pleasure, Your Majesty," Bunga said in a muffled voice.
Kiara leaned down, "Bunga, please stand up," she said, nervously and the honey badger returned upright.
"Kiara, question, why did you take Ono away from our patrol?" Kion asked.
"Well, Zazu went with Mom, Dad, Aunt Kula, and Aunt Tama, remember?" Kiara replied, "Someone had to give the morning report, so why not the Keenest of Sight?"
"OK, OK, you have a point there," Kion nodded, "But, you could have asked me first, ya know."
"I was going to," Kiara said, "But I couldn't find you anywhere."
"Kiara doesn't have to ask you for anything, Kion," everyone turned to see Kopa walking towards them, "She's your queen now, so she doesn't need permission from anybody."
Kufu groaned in annoyance and rolled his eyes, "Can we go one week without hearing Kopa's stupid voice?"
"I ask myself that every single day, Kufu," Dalia said as she followed Kopa from behind, "Also, FYI, Kopa, King Simba sometimes asks for permission, same thing with Mufasa."
"That doesn't change anything, Dalia," Kopa said, rolling his eyes at his sister, "Kiara is her own queen and she could do whatever she wants to do, ain't that right Kiara?" Kopa asked, winking at Kiara.
Kiara glared at Kopa, "I only need to ask for permission when I need the morning report, Kopa," she growled at him and then turned to Ono, "Now, Ono, can you please give me the morning report?"
"Yes, Your Majesty," Ono stepped forward to the acting queen and cleared his throat, "All appears to be in order from Mekundu Cliffs to Ukini Woods. There's much excitement about you being queen, the oryxes ain't fighting for a change, the eland herd is migrating east along the river as expected, oh, and I also spotted a new cluster of beehives and that's the morning report," Ono reported.
"Interesting," Kiara muttered, "Alright, thank you, Ono."
"Thank you for the opportunity, My Queen," Ono bowed and then flew onto Beshte's back.
"Alright, so sounds like everything is OK," Kion said to his sister, "Now, we're going on our patrol."
"Wait, hold on a second, Kion," Kiara said, stopping the Lion Guard in their tracks, "The bees are building hives along the river's trail and the elands take that same path, and if the elands step on the beehives, they'll get stung."
"And if that happens, the herd would break off and cause a lot of trouble," Dalia spoke up, finishing Kiara's thought, "I think I see the problem here."
"Exactly," Kiara agreed.
"Oh, I didn't think about that," Kion muttered.
"You didn't have to," Kopa chuckled, "You're not a king, Kion, and probably never will be."
"He may not be a king, but he's still a prince," Kufu reminded, harshly, "Which means you have to show him respect as well."
"Kufu's right," Fuli agreed, "He's the second-born cub of Simba and Nala which means he's royalty."
"Yeah the second-born cub, also known as the reincarnation of Scar," Kopa chuckled.
Fuli growled at Kopa, "Permission from the queen to rip this sorry excuse of a lion to pieces?" She said as she was about to attack Kopa, but Tiifu and Zuri held her back.
"Fuli, stop," Tiifu said.
"Yeah, he's not worth it," Zuri added.
"They're right, Fuli," Kion told his crush, "He's just being himself and trying to piss us off, so just ignore him and let's head out to patrol."
Fuli took a deep breath and calmed down, "You're right, Ki, he's not worth it at all."
They were about to leave, until...
"Kion, wait, hold on!" Kiara called out, running up to them, "Could you and the Guard divert the eland herd away from the bees' nest?"
"I suppose we could," Kion said as he glanced over at his team.
"Ooh, Queen Kiara's first official decree!" Zuri exclaimed, "The Lion Guard will... What was it again?" She glanced at Tiifu.
"The Lion Guard will divert the eland herd away from the beehives," Tiifu announced, "So says the queen."
"Yeah, so says the queen," Kopa said, smugly, "Now, off you go, do your job shoo-shoo."
Kion growled, softly under his breath, "Hold it together, just hold it together," he kept telling himself before he and the Guard walked off.
"Do you think Kopa is gonna get under Kion's skin through this whole thing?" Kiara whispered in Dalia's ear.
"It's Kopa, Kiara," Dalia whispered back, "What do you think?"
Meanwhile, Zazu was standing on a tree branch teaching Simba Elephantese and Simba was having some trouble while Nala, Kula, and Tama were seeing it play out.
"This is not working at all," Kula sighed.
"How exactly is this supposed to help Simba with his crappy Elephantese?" Tama asked Nala.
"Zazu knows what he's doing, Tama," Nala reassured, "At least, I hope he does."
"No, no, Sire, it's like this: Ehie kala pono tou," Zazu pronounced.
"Ehke kana puo tu," Simba tried to pronounce, and then he groaned in annoyance, "What the heck is that supposed to mean again?"
"It translates to 'He had good on him'," Zazu explained, "Which means he was a good elephant."
"Now, that's a full-on fact," Simba agreed, "Aminifu had much good on him."
"Now, all you have to do is say it in Elephantese," Zazu said.
"And I can't say it in Elephantese and do you know why?" Simba asked, rhetorically, "Because, I'm not an elephant!" He roared, causing Zazu to fall off the tree branch.
"Simba, you might not be an elephant, but you are a king," Nala reminded.
"Remember the song you sang over an hour ago? This is one of your duties as a king," Tama followed.
"And as a king, this is to be expected of you," Kula followed.
"And Aminifu was a good friend and he deserves the best, thanks, girls," Simba thanked, giving Nala a nuzzle and pounding heads with Kula and Tama, "Alright, Zazu, once more from the top."
"Of course, Sire," Zazu groaned as he was getting up and then continued teaching Simba Elephantese.
The Guard continued down the river and stood behind a pile of rocks.
"Beehives in the path just like you said, Ono," Kion observed, "But where are the elands?"
Ono flew off Beshte's back and scanned the area until he spotted the elands, "I see them, Kion, they're on their way," he said, "Just around the bend."
"Alright, so when they get here, we'll move them off the path and across the fields," Kion informed the others, "Far away from the bees."
"Hard to believe that something so small could bother something so big," Beshte noted.
"Yeah, seems kinda silly," Kion agreed, "Moving a whole herd of elands just to avoid a few little bees."
"Well, that was Queen Kiara's decree," Kufu reminded, "And it doesn't really help that Kopa was being himself and always brought it up."
Kion rolled his eyes, "Yeah, Kopa," he groaned, "Kiara's only been queen for a day and I've been leading the Lion Guard longer than that and Kopa thinks I don't know how to do my job," Kion pointed out, "Kiara and Kopa can tell me to do something, but they can't tell me how to do it. I say we move the bees," he said with a grin.
"Move the bees?" Ono, Kufu, and Fuli repeated in unison.
"Uh, Ki, I don't think that's a good idea," Fuli added, meeting the prince's eyes.
"Pfft! Come on, Fuli," Bunga scoffed, patting her shoulder, "How bad could it be?"
The Lion Guard ran across the river, screaming as they were being chased by an angry herd of bees.
"I told you this was a bad idea!" Fuli yelled at Kion, running by his side.
"Yeah, we should've diverted the elands away from the bees!" Kufu yelled in agreement from Kion's other side.
"Don't worry about the elands!" Kion yelled back.
As the Guard turned around the bend, they were running into the eland herd they were talking about and collided with them, causing a pileup.
Kion shook it off and looked behind him, "Oh, Hevi Kabisa!" He said as the bees headed towards them, "Incoming!"
Soon, the air was full of alarmed grunts from the elands and screams of pain from the Lion Guard as they were getting stung by the bees.
"There may have been a slight problem with the bees," Kion admitted as he and the rest of the Guard stood in front of the den in Pride Rock, all but Bunga were covered in bee stings.
"A small problem?" Kiara repeated with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, it wasn't a total disaster," Kion added, scratching at a sting behind his head.
"Oh, really?" Kopa said, rolling his eyes, "It looks like a total disaster to me," he glanced at the Guard scratching their stings.
"You guys kinda look like what happened to us when Bunga convinced us to play baobab ball with a beehive," Dalia pointed out.
"That was one time, Dalia," Bunga pointed out.
"For the record, Your Highness, I was against this whole thing," Fuli spoke up, scratching her stings.
"I second that as well," Kopa agreed, scratching.
Kion gave a glare in their direction.
"Look, Kion, you made a mistake, I get it," Kiara said to her little brother, "But you have to admit - I was right about moving the bees."
"I admit it, Your Majesty," Bunga piped up, picking a bee out of his fur and eating it.
"What's there to admit?" Tiifu noted, "The queen is always right."
"Especially giving the title of her royal advisers," Zuri added with a smile, "Dame Tiifu and Lady Zuri."
"What?" Kiara questioned, glancing at her friends.
"Lady Tiifu and Dame Zuri?" Tiifu amended.
"You two are not helping this situation," Dalia said, rolling her eyes.
"We did manage to round up the elands," Kion informed.
"Eventually," Kufu sighed.
"Most of them," Ono added.
"Some of them didn't want to come with us," Fuli followed.
"I don't think they like us," Beshte finished.
"Then, maybe next time, you should listen to your queen," Kopa smirked at the prince.
"Next time?" Kion raised his brow as his body tensed.
"Yeah, the next time she gives you a decree, you listen," Kopa repeated, tapping his paw on Kion's head, "Or have you forgotten that Simba left her in charge?"
"It's pretty hard to forget," Kion rolled his eyes.
Kufu stepped in between the two glaring cubs, "OK, let's not cause a fight here even though I'd like to see Kopa get shredded to pieces," he glared at Kopa, "Right now, we should probably get these bee stings treated," Kufu suggested, pushing Kion out of the den with the rest of the Guard following behind.
"At least I know why Kion disobeyed a royal decree," Kiara sighed, shaking her head.
Meanwhile, in the Outlands, Mzingo was at the volcano informing Janja and the hyenas what he saw.
"You wouldn't believe it, Janja, the whole sky was filled with bees," Mzingo informed, "I barely made it out of there without getting stung myself."
"So, with Simba in the elephants' territory, brother and sister are not getting along," Janja laughed with Cheezi and Chungu.
"Well, actually, a lion cub is making them have a disagreement," Mzingo reminded.
"Whatever, still counts," Janja rolled his eyes and then smirked, "Sure would be a shame if their family squabbles led to chaos in the Pride Lands."
"From which we all might profit," Mzingo also smirked.
"Mzingo, I need you to send a message to the new queen," Janja said, "Oh, and make sure that lion cub that's causing their little dispute is there."
Elsewhere, Simba, Nala, Kula, Tama, and Zazu have almost arrived at Kilio Valley and Simba was still having some trouble with his Elephantese.
"Itchy kala pono tou," Simba pronounced, "Did I get it right that time?"
"Um, it's coming along, Sire," Zazu said with an unsure look.
"You'll get it, Simba," Nala reassured her mate.
"Eventually, you will," Kula spoke.
"Hey, Zazu, how long 'till we get there?" Tama asked the hornbill.
"Actually, we're already here," Zazu informed as they arrived at their destination.
When they arrived, they saw a bunch of elephants placing flowers on the body of Aminifu and they were looking sad about his passing. Seeing all of this made Simba and Nala share a sad nuzzle and the same with Kula and Tama.
Simba sighed, sadly, "Well, girls, looks like it's time for the tribute," he said as they all went to the funeral.
Back at the Pride Lands, Kiara was at the tip of Pride Rock, looking all over the kingdom and thinking about what happened earlier with Kopa and Kion until someone broke her thoughts.
"And how is the queen doing?" Kopa said, walking towards Kiara.
Kiara rolled her eyes in annoyance, "What do you want, Kopa, you already caused enough trouble today."
"I'm just trying to help you, Kiara," Kopa said in defense, "Especially, since your brother doesn't know anything about what you're doing and only knows how to be like Scar."
"Kion is not like Scar!" Kiara glared at Kopa, "And I don't need your help at all."
Kopa was about to speak until someone broke the dispute between the cubs.
"I hope I wasn't interrupting something," Kiara and Kopa turned around to see Mzingo standing behind them, "Queen Kiara, being queen obviously suits you."
"Mzingo, what are you doing here?" Kiara asked in confusion.
"There's nothing to fear, cub... Oh, I mean, Your Majesty," Mzingo corrected, "I just simply came to bring a peace offering on behalf of Janja."
"Janja wants peace?" Kiara asked, not believing it.
"Oh, it's what he's always wanted," Mzingo informed, "But, sadly, your brother and his Guard, well forgive me. but he can be quite stubborn."
"Ain't that the sorry truth," Kopa agreed with the vulture.
"Shut it!" Kiara snapped at Kopa and then turned back towards Mzingo, "If Janja wanted peace, why didn't he come here himself?" Kiara asked, suspiciously.
"Well, Janja isn't exactly welcomed into the Pride Lands," Mzingo reminded, "He thought you might meet on neutral grounds, like sunset tonight on Broken Rock? You can discuss the terms of your new peace agreement and usher a new day of peace in the Pride Lands."
"I'd say go for it, My Queen," Kopa spoke up, "It would end all of the trouble the Pride Lands has with the hyenas."
"You should listen to the cub," Mzingo nodded in agreement, "He knows what he's talking about."
Kiara still didn't look convinced, but she then thought that it would end a lot of problems in the Pride Lands.
"I'll think about it," Kiara said.
"That's all we ask," Mzingo smirked before flying away.
After Mzingo flew away, Kion walked up Pride Rock with all of his bee stings treated.
"Hey, Kiara, what did Mzingo want?" Kion asked.
"That's none of your business, little prince," Kopa said, harshly towards Kion.
"Shut up, Kopa!" Kiara glared at Kopa and then she looked at Kion and sighed, "Let's talk inside, follow me," she said, heading inside the den with Kion with Kopa following behind, "Alright, so, apparently, Janja is offering a peace proposal and wants to meet with me," Kiara informed.
"Janja, peace proposal?" Kion questioned, "No way, Kiara, you have to know that this is a trap."
"Of course, you would think that," Kopa scoffed, rolling his eyes at the prince.
"Kion, I also have a bad feeling about this as well," Kiara said, "But this might be a good thing to bring peace with the hyenas and the Pride Lands."
"But, Kiara," Kion groaned, standing in front of his sister, "You can't trust Mzingo or Janja."
"You just can't stand the thought of Kiara being right again," Kopa pointed out, "Like she was with the bees."
"This is different, Kopa," Kion rebuked, "You both don't know Janja like I do. I had to chase him off so many times."
"Maybe, that's why he came to her," Kopa cut him off, "Now that she's queen, he knows that."
"Kiara is only queen while our mom and dad are away," Kion cut in, "So, she's not really queen."
Kiara turned towards her brother with her eyes narrowed, "I am the queen," she corrected, "And I'll do what I think is best for the Pride Lands," Kiara stood tall to her sibling.
Kion sighed, heavily, and matched his sister's glare.
"Fine, if you're serious about this, then you're on your own," Kion turned towards the den, but before, he left he turned towards his sister, "You know, I always thought you'd be a great queen, Kiara, but now, I'm starting to have my doubts," Kion then left the den.
Kiara stood there shocked about what Kion said to her and started to feel a little guilty.
"Ignore what he said, Kiara, Kion's not worth it," Kopa reassured her, "Now, you have to get ready for the upcoming peace proposal later tonight."
"Yeah, peace proposal," Kiara said as she looked towards the entrance, hoping she didn't lose the sibling bond she and Kion shared.
"I can't believe it," Kion muttered as he was walking through a field, "Kiara's gonna get herself killed. What is she thinking?"
The clouds then formed into the spirit of Mufasa.
"Kion!" Mufasa called out, getting the prince's attention, "Something is troubling you."
Kion sighed and sat on the grass, "It's Kiara, Grandfather," he admitted, "She doesn't know what she's getting herself into and Kopa is making things worse."
"Kion, Kiara is your sister and for now, she is your queen," Mufasa reminded, "And as your queen and sister, she needs your support."
"Even if she's wrong?" Kion questioned.
"Especially, if she's wrong," Mufasa answered, "And as for Kopa, do not let him get to you because I find his lack of faith disturbing."
Kion pondered his grandfather's advice for a moment and realized that he was right.
"Thank you, Grandfather," Kion thanked as Mufasa disappeared into the clouds, "I need to talk to Kiara."
Kion rushed back towards Pride Rock, but once he arrived there, he sees Tiifu and Zuri resting on some rocks, Dalia cleaning herself, and Kopa walking towards him.
"Well, well, well, look who showed up," Kopa snarked, "If you're looking for Kiara, hate to break it to ya, but she already left."
"What?" Kion said in shock, "Kiara's already gone."
Zuri stretched her limbs and yawned, "She said she had an important meeting to get to somewhere."
"And you let her go alone?" Kion asked.
"Well, she's the queen," Tiifu defended, "We didn't let her do anything, she just did it."
"Ugh, some advisers you two are," Kion groaned, "I need to get the Guard, now."
Kion was about to leave the den until Kopa got in front of him, blocking his path.
"Hold it right there, Kion," Kopa stopped Kion in his tracks, "You're not going after the queen. She needs to do things on her own, so let her."
Kion growled at Kopa and he turned towards Dalia.
"Hey, Dal!" Kion said, getting her attention, "Can you please get Kopa away from me and make sure your mom knows what he's been doing?"
"Roger that!" Dalia said and she went towards Kopa and bit his tail, dragging him away, "You're coming with me, you troublemaker."
"Not again, let me go, Dalia, let me go!" Kopa ordered as he was being dragged away.
Kion left the cave and Tiifu and Zuri looked at each other in confusion.
"What's wrong with him?" Tiifu asked.
"Who cares?" Zuri scoffed, "He's not a queen."
At the Lion Guard lair, the rest of the Guard were resting on their spots until Kion arrived.
"Lion Guard, Kiara's in trouble!" The leader alerted the rest of the team and ran out of the lair.
"'Till the Pride Lands end... Lion Guard defend!" They all said as they ran towards the Outlands.
Back at Kilio Valley, the elephants have all gathered around and Nala, Kula, and Tama were in the audience as the new leader of the elephants, Ma Tembo, a large, gray elephant with a broken tusk stood in front of them.
"And now, His Majesty, the king will say a few words about my father," Ma Tembo announced.
All of the elephants murmured in surprise to see the king there. Simba gulped in nervousness and glanced at Zazu.
"You got this, Sire," Zazu reassured.
Simba took a deep breath and grew confident, "I knew Aminifu for a long time and now that he's completed his journey in the Circle of Life, I will remember him fondly," the elephants trumpeted, mournfully, "Because as you elephants say, ehie kaka pano tou."
The elephants gasped in shock and murmured as Kula and Tama were trying their best not to laugh.
Simba glanced at Zazu, "Did I say 'he had good on him'?"
"I'm not sure, Sire," Zazu admitted, "But I think you said 'he had poop on him'," he cleared his throat to stop himself from laughing.
"I said what?" Simba said in shock.
Ma Tembo looked at Simba with a stern look and then she and the other elephants laughed.
"It's true, he always did have poop on him," Ma Tembo laughed in agreement, "And it always made us laugh. He always made us laugh. it's nice to remember the good times. Thank you, Your Highness."
Simba smiled and nodded, "Well he had good on him too."
"He did. He truly had good on him," Ma Tembo agreed, "But more poop."
Everyone shared a laugh.
Kiara arrived at Broken Rock to meet up with Janja, looking around for him.
"Hello! Hello!" Kiara called out, "Is anyone there?"
"Queen Kiara," Janja said as he came out from behind a rock, "So happy you considered my proposal, and you came alone, very smart, we can discuss our deal leader-to-leader," his hyenas walked out from behind the other rocks, "Well, more or less."
"I think I just reconsidered your proposal," Kiara said, backing away from Janja, turning to run until she was blocked by Cheezi and Chungu.
"Going so soon? But you're gonna be our guest," Janja smirked, "And as soon as Simba hears I have his daughter, he'll have no other choice but to turn over the Pride Lands to me or else."
"Hapana!" Ono gasped as he scouted through the Outlands, "Kiara's at Broken Rock and she's surrounded by hyenas," he informed the Guard.
"We need to get to her and fast," Kufu urged.
"Follow me," Kion ordered, leading the Guard towards the Outlands.
Kiara hunched down with her ears flat and teeth bared as Janja's crew surrounded her. She managed to dodge a few of them but was knocked away by a few more and then she was pinned down by Janja.
"Nice moves," Janja snickered, "But it's too bad you're all alone."
"Get away from the queen!" Kion yelled as he knocked Janja away from his sister.
"Kion, you're here," Kiara sighed in relief as she got to her feet.
Kion looked at his sister and smiled, "Of course, I came, we're family, always," he reminded and Kiara smiled.
"Aw, ain't this a touching family reunion?" Janja cackled.
"Hey, you said that these two were fighting, Janja," Cheezi reminded, narrowing his eyes.
The two siblings shared a look.
"Oh, we can fight alright," Kion agreed.
"You think you can take us both on?" Kiara challenged.
All the hyenas laughed.
"Six on two?" Janja questioned, "I'll take those odds."
"Then let's even those odds, Janja," Kufu called out as the Guard made their way into the fight, "Huwezi Kuniona!"
The Guard skidded to a halt with Fuli on Kion's right and Kufu beside her, Bunga jumped and landed by Kiara's left, and Beshte behind him with Ono on his back.
"Till the Pride Lands end..." Kion began.
"Lion Guard defend!" Kiara finished.
Janja took a step closer, "Six on seven," he corrected the numbers and then his ears pinned down and he whimpered, "Forget that!" Janja said as he and his clan ran off.
"Thanks, guys," Kiara thanked the Guard, and then she locked eyes with her brother, "And Kion, you were right about not trusting Janja."
"I can hear you!" Janja called out from the distance.
Kion looked down at his paws, "And I should have listened to you about the bees."
"Oh, sure," Ono muttered under his breath, "Now he admits it," he rolled his eyes, his comment earning a glare from the prince.
"It wasn't his fault, Ono," Kufu reminded, "Because, we all know who to blame for this sibling bickering."
"Kopa," they all said in unison, and then they all turned to head back home.
The next morning, Kion, Kiara, and Kufu greeted their parents as they returned.
"Mom! Dad!" Kiara greeted, running out of the den with her brother and his friend.
"Welcome back," Kion added, standing in the middle of Kufu and Kiara.
"So, how did the tribute go?" Kufu asked.
"It went..." Simba chuckled, nervously.
"Everything turned out fine," Nala informed, smiling at her mate, "So, how did ruling the Pride Lands go?" She looked down at her two cubs.
"Ruling the Pride Lands?" Kiara smiled, tapping her tail, "It was uh..."
"Any trouble?" Simba asked.
Kiara looked away from her parents with her ears on her side, "Well, uh..."
"A little trouble that involves a certain lion cub that gets on my nerves," Kion cut in, referring to Kopa, "But besides that, it wasn't anything Kiara couldn't handle," he smiled, "I'm sure she's gonna be a great queen someday."
Kiara sighed, heavily, "Thanks, Kion," she returned her brother's smile.
"I never had any doubts," Simba said, proudly.
"So, Moms," Kufu turned to his moms, "How bad did King Simba mess up with his Elephantese this time?"
Kula and Tama looked at each other for a moment and then started laughing.
"We had to hold our laughter because we didn't wanna be rude," Kula laughed, "Especially at a funeral."
"He was supposed to say 'he had good on him'," Tama explained, "But, instead, he said 'he had poop on him'."
After she said that, Kion, Kiara, and Kufu started laughing and Simba and Nala joined them.
A/N: And that's the next episode. I was excited to make this one, along with some other upcoming ones as well, and I decided to give Kion and Kiara a sibling bond instead of arguing. That way, you can see how much Kopa gets on Kion's nerves, and just like the non-canon book series, Simba, Nala, Kula, and Tama are cubhood friends as well, and who was the fallen friend they had? Well, that'll be explained in a future chapter and the votes have been made and Ono will get a male love interest. And did you catch the Star Wars reference I did? And who was the cub that Kiara had her eyes on? "wink wink" Also, am I the only one who thinks that the singing voice of Simba in the show sounds like his original voice actor from the movie?
Next up: Ono has lost his eyesight
