Chapter 2: Meeting your Savior
Even though she was getting tired from walking and reading other people's minds, Anya simply kept walking, her head lowered and hugging her chimera doll. She still glanced around briefly whenever she heard the thoughts of each person she passed.
The little Anya not only realized that the place was strange, but also the people in the place she was in. They didn't look like her, physically, but at the same time, they were like her.
Some of them also had only one eye in their faces, more than one pair of arms, sometimes they even had wings and tails. Not to mention their skin tones and their almost animalistic appearance. Had she ended up in a world like the ones in the books she had read at the orphanage, Anya wondered.
Anya gave a light yawn, slowly getting sleepy. She rubbed one of her eyes, until she until she heard someone talking, which made her stop and be in shock.
"Well, well, well. Look what we have down here."
Anya looked back and saw two people behind her, looking at her in a very strange way. They both had strange smiles on their faces as they seemed to be thinking about doing something not very cool.
"What did a little thing like you do, to end up here, kid?" - "You look... too human to have died, little girl." - "But that doesn't matter, does it? I wonder how much they'll pay for a beauty like that, man?"
Anya couldn't understand what they were talking about, but their thoughts were showing her some really bad things. She started taking small steps back, hoping she could leave without them noticing.
"If we sell her to that place, those people will definitely pay us a lot of money. And then we could go out and buy anything we want." - "That might be a good idea. Let's take her there."
Anya had already turned a corner when she heard the two shouting from the other side. - "Hey, where the hell did that girl go?!" - "We can't let her get away!"
Quickly, the little child began to run as fast as she could, dodging other people who were passing by on the sidewalk. Fear and despair began to take hold of her, fearing what those men could do to her or even worse.
Anya might not have any idea what exactly they wanted with her, but she wasn't going to let herself be captured again and used for something torturous as she had passed while she was in the lab.
She caught a glimpse of the two men running after her, but Anya simply kept running. During the entire escape, the little girl didn't know where she was going, and unfortunately, she ended up at a dead end.
She noticed two shadows approaching, followed by several more. Looking back, Anya realized that it wasn't just the two men, but that more other had also followed and surrounded her. She leaned against the wall and slid down, finding herself scared and without hope of being able to escape.
"We finally found you, little girl. Don't worry, your new owner will definitely treat you very well after they pays us very well for you." - one of them declared, slowly approaching her.
Tears began to well up in Anya's eyes. She had nowhere to go, nothing to do. She closed her eyes as she awaited her terrible fate.
Out of nowhere, sounds of gunshots and explosions were heard in the distance. - "What... What's happening now?!" - one of the men questioned, caught off guard by the loud sound. One of them ran and observed what was happening. But out of nowhere, he fell to the ground with a short scream.
Another approached and shouted to the others. - "Someone killed Stuart!" - as soon as he said that, he was also hit and fell to the ground.
The others were scared. They realized in the end that they had stopped in a mafia area or something, and they had to get out of there as soon as possible.
Anya noticed that the men were distracted, and she quickly looked around, hoping to find something to hide or run away from. To her surprise, there was a large dumpster leading to the other side of the wall.
Quickly, she ran over there and started to climb it. One of the men realized It and he ran to grab her. When Anya was about to climb the wall, she felt a hand grab her right ankle. Then another shadow appeared, indicating that someone was going that way. Desperate to break free, Anya had no choice but to throw her chimera doll in the man's face, causing him to release her grip and retreat back.
With that, the little child climbed the wall and landed on a pile of cardboard boxes, cushioning her fall. Before she could recover, Anya heard a voice shouting, before being followed by several gunshots that even hit the wall.
"TAKE IT, YOU BUMS!"
After a few seconds, the gunshots and screams of pain stopped. Anya, who had covered her head with her arms and curled up like a shell, began to slowly opening her eyes and move from her position. She didn't know what had happened, but the voices and thoughts could no longer be heard.
She began to pull herself away from the piles of boxes and brushed the dust off her clothes.
The little child looked around and appeared to be in another alley, only with more piles of cardboard and old, broken furniture, and three more dumpsters.
It would be an dead end if there wasn't a light illuminating the wall laterally, coming from the right side. Without thinking, Anya started walking towards that light, until she came across a small hallway that led to the city.
Sighing in relief, Anya began walking down the hallway, when someone appeared and stopped in front of the hallway she was in. Fortunately, the strange person hadn't noticed her yet, so Anya had to remain silent, and hopefully, that person could leave.
The child realized that the strange was keeping what appeared to be weapons or something similar, indicating that they was the one who caused that shooting seconds ago. But not only that, that strange person had two extra pairs of arms on their body, and was incredibly tall.
Then the person picked up a small rolled-up paper and put it in their mouth, while using the other pair of arms to move a metal towards their face and make fire appear on it. Then they sucked it and exhalled smoke, while looking around.
Unfortunately for Anya, the strange ended up noticing her presence as she tried to silently retreat backwards.
"What are you doing here, kid?" - they asked, in an indifferent tone, still with the paper rolled up in their mouth. The child found herself with no way out at that moment. She didn't know if that strange person would also want to harm her or something like that.
She noticed the person still looking at her, with an expression almost confused and surprised rather than malicious like the men who ran after her.
The strange approached her slightly and bent down, until they was looking at her closely, as if they was studying her. Anya could see in their thoughts that there was no malice, just a kind of curiosity.
"You... seem to be... too human to be dead. How did you end up here?" - the person asked, as they held the rolled up paper between their fingers.
Anya didn't know what to say, and whether she should trust that strange, even though she didn't feel any malice in that person. So, she decided to say a few words.
"An... I don't know... I don't remember how... I ended up here..." - she lied, while being careful not to say her name.
The strange person didn't seem to be bothered by her answer, and so they continued to ask. - "Do you know where your parents are or something, girl? You shouldn't be alone around here. Especially in this place. You probably have no idea where you are, do you?"
Anya moved her head slightly from side to side in response. She saw in the person's mind that they shouldn't directly say where she was, and that they would have to soften their answer.
"Well, how can I put it... This is the place where people who have made a lot of mistakes end up. And you don't seem to have done anything wrong to end up here, do you?"
The child nodded again in response, earning a sigh from the strange person. She could see them thinking about what they could do.
"And in short, you can't stay here, girl. It's too dangerous, especially for a child like you. People might want to do horrible things to you, which I don't even want to list here. And you don't have anywhere to go, do you?"
Anya thought for a while and timidly replied with a "no". The person sighed again and replied. - "That's what I thought."
The strange began to rise until them was standing again. And then, they moved one of their hands towards the child, while them resumed sucking on the rolled up paper again.
"Come with me, I know a safe place for you to stay." - the person said, in a tone that said "I don't have much time to deal with this".
Anya glanced briefly at the strange person, and at the hand held out in front of her. She saw the person's mind again and it seemed to be something associated with something called a hotel.
After thinking briefly for a few seconds, Anya then sighed and extended her hand to the strange. With that, the person began walking with her on the sidewalk, on which there was no other person to be seen.
"By the way, kid. What's your name?" - the strange asked.
The child hesitated a little before answering. - "My... name is Anya."
She heard the strange person mutter in response. And then she asked.
"And you, what's your name?"
Anya saw the person wondering if they should introduce themselves with a name, and then they shrugged and responded.
"Well, you can call me Angel Dust, girl." - the stranger, named Angel Dust, replied in a smiling tone to her.
01/07/2025: And here is the second chapter. It was the longest one I've written so far. First of all, I apologize if there are any mistakes in the characters or lines or anything like that (since I'm not very familiar with the series and I'm still starting to follow it). I hope the chapter was good enough. I feel like the next one will be really complicated.
To all the artists who liked my fanfic, I really appreciate it and would love for you to make art for it, but at the moment it won't be possible, because I'm not in the best financial situation to be able to pay you all. I need to save up more of the payment and find a way to pay you without any problems.😞😞😞😞😞
So for now, I won't be able to accept commissions due to the tight budget and other issues. I hope you understand and I'll let you know when my budget is more than stable.
