AN: Who's kind of excited for Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time?
("… Gotta get back… back to the past… Samurai Jack.") There's nothing but a black screen.
("I've finally returned to the past and defeated Aku.") The scene then goes down to reveal Jack. His silhouette all white with a white shadow behind him, standing in the dark with his back turned towards the viewer.
("But, I still feared for the future.") Jack is then shown looking out at the horizon from the balcony of his castle, pink Sakura leaves falling all around him and his empire. The scene then changes to show an opening in a snowbound forest with towering trees.
("Though he's gone, his shadow still remains.") The camera turned slowly to the right and stopped when it shows Jack meditating while sitting on the snow-covered ground, with his right side facing the viewer. There's then a close up of the sheathed Sword, as the blade is pulled from the scabbard.
("Though I will not be around, I will not let the nightmare return.") The scene focuses only on the Sword's blade, as a reflection of Jack's eyes was shown in the metal for a moment, before Aku's eyes replaced them.
("With a simple goal, the Sword was passed down to the eldest child of the eldest child.") Jack's silhouette, with the sword in hand, stands on top of a hill looking at his home from a distance. But then the scene changes to where there was a woman standing in Jack's place, looking at another city in the 19th century.
("To be passed down throughout the times.") The scene fades into another one, this time to a man looking at a city set ablaze in the night, as American bombers fly overhead during World War 2.
("So that if Aku does come back, there's hope.") Again, the scene changes. But this time shows Kenny's silhouette looking at Kuoh. The city lit by its neon lights in the night atmosphere.
("I've placed my faith in him, and those around him.") Kenny was now sitting on the ground and leaning against a tree while looking up at the silhouette figure a familiar young woman. The screen suddenly goes black.
("His name is Kenny Kurosawa, the Red Dragon Samurai.") Then the title burns itself into the scene, glowing red as it shines in the dark.
The Red Dragon Samurai
"We're going to fight Loki?" Kenny asked in total shock. After Azazel had told him and Rias that while they were in the private hot tub, the redhead quickly assembled her peerage to gather in the meeting room. In there, they stood before Rias' brother, the other Satans, Azazel, Michael, Odin, Ra, and Vishnu, and Rossweisse. "You want us to actually fight a God?"
"That's correct," Azazel said, leaning back in his chair.
"So this is the young Kenny Kurosawa that we've heard so much about," the king of Asgard commented as he and the three other Gods stared at the young man. "I must say, by all the tales of your exploits, I was kind of expecting something more."
"Ah, but even the most beautiful of flowers have the sharpest of thorns," the Hindu God said knowingly, pointing one of his fingers into the air. He then turned back to Kenny. "I do hope that when all is said and done that we'll be about to meet again under better circumstances, but I do hope that you and your companions are up for the challenge that you're about to face."
"Loki is powerful as he is annoying," Ra said with his arms crossed. "And while the Sword of Righteousness is able to harm him, the Minions of Set are another story."
Rias spoke up and asked the Sun God, "Lord Ra, just what are these Minions?"
"They are evil minions created by the one and only God of Disorder and Violence. No armies, big or small- man, Devil, Angel, or Fallen Angel could stop their rampage. It was only when I was summoned long ago to imprison the Minions in a tomb that they were defeated."
"And the tomb is in the ruined city that Vishnu teleported him to," Azazel said with his usual smirk. "He'll only be out of our hair and restrained for only a day, and you can bet he's gonna be pissed when he gets back here."
Rias' eyes widened in shock. "One day?! That's it?"
"Indeed," Vishnu said. "When he breaks free, we're not going to have a choice. We must stop him head-on."
Sirzechs turned to his little sister. "I'm sorry to have to ask this of you and Kenny, Rias. As you can imagine, if I and the other Satan-class Devils attack..." he trailed off his sentences.
"It could result in another large-scale war between the Underworld and Asgard," Rias finished for him. The gravity of the situation dawning on her why they were chosen for this task.
Odin sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Even if Loki is a menace, all of Asgard would cry for war if one of their Gods were attacked by the leaders of any faction. Asgardians are a proud people, after all. Plus, it would play into Loki's hand."
"How's that," Kenny asked with Asia standing with him.
Azazel answered the samurai. "He wants to bring about Ragnarok, and the Army of Darkness wants to bring about pandemonium and revive Aku. A war such as that would further all of their goals. It'd be the beginning of the end, kiddos. Nothing would survive."
Odin, stroking his bread, said, "The Sword will not be able to deliver the same results in finishing the fight as quickly as possible."
"But, Lord Odin, we'll still have to deal with the Minions," said one of the Satans named Ajuka Beelzebub. He was a bewitchingly beautiful and attractive young man appearing in his early twenties, with light blue eyes and green hair that was slicked back. He had a mysterious aura around him, which he claimed makes him seem devilish. "They'll rip them apart."
"There is a way to stop them. Both the Minions and Loki," Ra said, gaining the attention of everyone. "Your only salvation is to summon me to earth, granting me all of my godly powers to vanquish the Minions and capture the little brat myself. But it can only be done with the Gold Scarab. The reason we sent Loki and the Minions to these ruins was that the people that once resided there hid the three pieces of the scarab. Look for the tomb in the middle of the city, and read the prophecy."
He then turned to Odin. "Normally I'd stay out of this with you and Vishu, but now that Loki had unleashed the Minions, he's trespassed on my land and rule. With my powers, I'll imprison Loki, and your people will know it was done with your blessings. Will that be enough to satisfy them?"
Odin thought for a moment before nodding. It would certainly save him the trouble of having to go and get Mjolnir, and if the people of Asgard understood it was done with his blessings and to prevent their destruction, then they'll have to accept it. After all, Loki could have caused an all-out war by attack Ra and Vishu with the Minions of Set, so that was something to take note of.
Plus, he knew that Ra had been wanting to teach his son a lesson, and after Loki unleashed the Minions, he'd be happy to let him.
Rias nodded and then asked, "Will we be alone on this mission?
Although she was mostly quiet throughout the meeting, Serafall broke her silence with a smile and giggled. "Don't you worry. You weren't the only volunteers," she said, turning her head to look over her shoulder. A door behind her suddenly started to open, and standing on the other side was Sora, Tsubaki, Tsubasa, and Saji. "Right, Sona?"
"You're going?" Rias asked, a little surprised to see her childhood friend volunteering to go with her.
"The four of us would like to offer our services as well, if that's alright," Sona stated as she and her four servants walked into the room.
"I tried to talk her out of it, but she wouldn't listen," Serafall said with an innocent shrug. The truth was she didn't try to talk her out of it. The cute little Satan then turned to Sirzechs. "Then again, this whole mess with Loki is kind of our fault to begin with. So our little sisters being assigned cleanup duty shouldn't get many objections. Won't look like we're playing favorites, either."
"It's not like there's time to object anyway. That said, there are some people we've already decided on," Azazel said, before turning his head to the right, as another door opened.
Kenny was surprised to see his little sister and Irina, his old childhood friend. "Karen? Irina? You're coming too?" He asked, a little taken aback.
"Come on, brother," Karen said with a grinning smirk, placing a hand on her hip. "A chance to kick ass and take names? You know I'm all for that life!"
"Father Leonardo believed that Irina is more than enough to handle this in his absence," Michael stated with a firm but soft voice. The Grand Exorcist was to remain in the Underworld with him in the event that the team failed. "And I have no doubt that Irina will be an asset to you in this endeavor."
"As you wish," Irina said with a smile. Happy to come along and show Kenny and Xenovia what she has up her sleeves.
While still standing by her lord, Rosswiesse turned her head towards the teenagers with a serious expression. "I will be in attendance as well for Asgard. I'm able to read the hieroglyphs of ancient Egypt."
"I suggest Rias only picks her best fighters to take with her, and the rest stays to hold the line in the event that they fail," Vishnu said.
"Right, then prepare to depart shortly," Sirzechs instructed the attack force.
The following day, the two peerages of Rias and Sona stood in front of the Gremory main mansion. Those that were staying came out to wish those that were going after Loki good luck. Going with Kenny were, of course, Rias, Akeno, Koneko, Kiba, and Xenovia. Irina, Karen, Sona, Tsukabi, Saji, and Tsubasa were with them. Everyone else was going to stay behind and wait for them to return from their mission. Those that would be staying are Asia, Gasper, the Phoenix Maids, X-9, and Father Leonardo.
"I'm sorry, but it's too dangerous for us to bring you two along," Rias said to Asia and Gasper, as they two stood with the leaders of the factions and Vishnu. "You'll be safe here with the defense force. X-9 and the maids will also be here."
"Oh, of course," Asia said to her master with a slight smile, before turning to Kenny. She knew that even with her training with her healing abilities and her combat training, she was nowhere as skilled or as battle-ready as the others. "Please be careful and come back safe, Kenny."
"I will. We all will," Kenny said with a reassuring smile, reaching out to gently squeeze her shoulder. "You look after Gasper with X-9."
"This feels like old times, doesn't it?" Irina said to Xenovia.
"Yeah, well, kind of anyways," the blue-haired woman said to her friend. "It might seem weird coming from a Devil, but try to be careful."
"I was just about to say the same thing to you," Irina replied with a wink.
The sound of armored footsteps was heard behind them and Kenny turned around to see the beautiful, silver-haired, young woman that traveled with Odin. And he was quite amazed to see that Rossweisse had changed out of her business attire to be in the traditional battle armor for her Valkyrie sisterhood. The armor consisted of a white breastplate with gold and pale blue accents and matching, fingerless gauntlets, boots, hip guards, and wing-shaped hair clips. She also wore a black leotard underneath her breastplate, black thigh-high stockings, and a pale blue cloth wrapped underneath her hip guards, all of which are clad with pink lacing along with her hair clips.
"Guess I'll introduce myself to the team," she said. "I should have known things would have gotten out of hand traveling with Odin. I'm the Valkyrie Rossweisse."
Kenny turned his body to face her with a smile. "It's an honor to meet you," he said, bowing his head.
"And it's a great honor to meet you as well, Kenny Kurosawa," Rossweisse said, approaching him. The two were almost equal in height, as she smiled at him. Saji was in the background, ogling sight of the warrior. Despite being clad in armor, it still showed how curvy her body was. "I've heard many stories about Samurai Jack and heard about your adventures."
"Thank you. I've always heard that the Valkyries like the Amazons of Norse mythology. Very beautiful and great warriors," he said politely with a kind smile. Rossweisse's cheeks flared up with redness as she was a little surprised. Suddenly, Rias grabbed his cheek and pulled him back.
"Down, love," she said, slightly annoyed. Sona did the same with Saji.
"I was just trying to be nice!" Kenny whined.
"Okay, kids, just try to be careful out there," Azazel said, standing with Michael and Sirzechs. Next to them were Odin, Ra, and Vishnu.
"The time has come," Rias' brother said, prompting Grayfia to walk forward and approach the team. In her hands was an open pouch that had three red vials that look familiar.
"Right," said the maid, before reaching out to present the vials. "These are Phoenix Tears. Unfortunately, this is all we could obtain on such short notice." Kenny's eyes widened. He just remembered that gift the Ravel gave him during the ball was still in his pocket. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out the black capsule and opened it, revealing a single vial of Phoenix Tears in it.
Maybe she was a sweet little bird after all.
"They may not look like much, but they're good to have. Especially since you won't have bishop healing powers," Sirzechs said in a neutral tone. Trying to hide how worried he was about his sister and everyone going into this fight.
Rias took the pouch in her hands and closed it. "Thank you, that's a good idea," she said, putting it away.
"Just remember to keep your guard up out there," Sirzechs warned them all. "These Minions of Set will be unlike any threat you've faced."
Rias nodded. "We will."
As they were ready to depart, one of them was lost in her thoughts. At first, Koneko was going to be one of the few that would stay behind while the others would fight against Loki. However, yesterday, she approached Rias and demanded to come along on the attack. Begging her King to let her. Eventually, Rias allowed her. She grabbed Kenny's right sleeve and tugged on it. "Hey, Kenny," she said, looking down slightly. Kenny turned around and down to her. "If I was scared...what would you say to me?" she asked, flushed.
Kenny smiled and placed a hand on her head. Rubbing it softly for a bit as she looked up at him. "I'd say that you have nothing to fear, Koneko. You're not alone anymore. I promise I'll protect you," he said gently.
Koneko stared at him and then smiled with a blush.
"I must say, Kenny, I'm impressed," Akeno said with a finger on her cheek and a smile on her face. "With smooth-talking like that, she wouldn't be able to deny her feelings much longer."
"We're just friends!" Kenny said with a blush.
"Will you protect me?" She whispered. Akeno then opened her eyes to look at him. "I'll be counting on that resolve of yours to get me through." Then she turned away from him. Her smile disappearing again.
"You can count on me, Akeno," Kenny said with a look of determination. "I wouldn't let you down."
"It is time," Odin said, before nodding to Vishnu. Nodding back to his old friend, the Hindu god, in his Rama avatar, started the process of sending them to their destination by placing his hands together in various signs and symbols. This caused a magical portal to appear behind the teenagers.
"Remember, find the pieces of the Scarab," Ra told the Devils.
"But also to trust not what you see, but what you feel," Vishu finished. They all nodded, before turning around and walking through the portal.
When they stepped out of the portal, it closed behind them. A cold gust of them hit them, and because the students were in their summer uniforms, they were affected the most. But it was bearable for the most part. When Kenny looked around with a small scowl, he saw they were back in the human realm, as the sky was normal again and he could see the moon. But they weren't in Japan anymore.
They were standing high on a decaying roof on the edge of the ancient ruins of an ancient Egyptian city was had yet to be discovered by any normal human. And right in front of them was a glowing white pyramid. It looked oddly beautiful, but it wasn't going to last much longer. When it breaks, then they'll have to battle against what will likely be the most powerful enemies they've ever fought.
Kenny pulled out his Sword and activated the Boosted Gear. A moment later, a bright blue light shined from inside the pyramid. "The seal won't last much longer," Rias commented.
"Sure won't," Sona said with her stoic expression. Both of theirs and the other female students' skirts lifted slightly in the wind.
"I don't know about you, but I'm not digging this. We just finished training for the Rating Games, and now we're fighting a god? That's nuts," Saji commented as he stood next to Kenny and Tsubasa.
"Don't waver just yet, Saji," Tsubasa said with a smile of engagement. "We're still fighting for Sona here and there's no way any of us are gonna let her down."
"Right. We've still gotta help her with her dream," Saji said with a grin.
Kenny looked at the two with a confused expression. "What do you mean by her dream?"
Tsubasa turned her head to him with a smile. "You see, Sona wants to build a Rating Game school down in the Underworld for all Devils," she explained. "A place where even low-level Devils are welcomed. So they could play the Rating Game."
Kenny's eyes widened a little. "That sounds awesome, but why bring it up?"
"Yeah, well, there's just one thing standing in her way." Saji nodded as he picked up the explanation. "You see, a lot of Devils hate her idea because it goes against the Class system. They're not big on any kind of change, and mixing with other mythologies won't open any more minds." Kenny turned to Sona and stared at her back as she stared at the pyramid. Trying not to peck at her panties as her skirt lifted in the wind. He's always admired the short young woman, but now he couldn't help but look at her in a new light. She's fighting an uphill battle, and if Loki got his way, her dreams would be gone.
He was brought out of his thoughts when Tsubasa lightly punched him in the shoulder. "It'll be a lot of fun," she said with a smile. "I like working with kids, so I'll be teaching there."
"Yeah, I guess so. I'll be a teacher at that school, too," Saji said. He then turned to Keny. "That's why we're here. That's why the others wanted to come too. We don't care if they're a god or a stuck-up Devil, we'll own anyone who gets in our way."
"Well, I'll be sure to help in any way I can," Kenny proclaimed, raising his clenched fist.
Sona briefly looked over her shoulder at Kenny and her two servants. She stared at him with a smile. She'd like the idea of Kenny helping her achieve her dream very much.
"He's coming!" Rias said, pulling everyone back to reality.
Kenny gripped his sword as the ground shook under their feet. Suddenly, the pyramid lifted off the ground, revealing it to be a giant diamond-shaped prison that Vishu traded him in. It then glowed brighter and brighter, before it shattered like glass into a thousand pieces. The pieces all fell to the sandy floor of the desert, as the three Minions of Set landed on the ground. They looked up at the Devils, Exorcist, Fallen Angel, and Valkyre and snarled. Wanting to attack them, but waited for their new master's command.
"Well, that was annoying. Not to mention rule," Loki said, floating in the air where his prison once was with a smug smirk. He looked turned Kenny and saw the Sword of Righteousness. The black-haired teenager's eyes glared at him. "And look at that. The Red Dragon Samurai is even here to see Ragnarok."
"Hear me Loki!" Rossweisse shouted as she stood in front of the others. "Attacking the All-Father, Lord Ra, and Lord Vishu is unforgivable! If you have a problem, you should file your complaint through the proper channels!"
"And who will unforgive me? You? Please, talented though you may be, you cannot challenge a god!" Loki said arrogantly.
"You were always such a spoiled brat," the Valkyrie muttered. She was then surprised to see Kenny walking past her and stood in front. Glaring up at Loki.
"Answer me this, Loki! Why did you job Aku's Army of Darkness?" He called out to the God of Mischief. "You know what he plans to do for the world and all mythological worlds! What could have made you possibly want to job him!?"
"It's simple, really, samurai. This really has nothing to do with Aku or his plans. All I want is Ragnarok." Loki smirked as lights appeared behind him. Those lights suddenly crashed into the ground beneath him. The ground exploded and as the smoke cleared, out from it stood a giant wolf with ash-gray fur, standing at about 10 meters tall, with two big yellow horns coming out of his shoulders.
"Fenrir!" Rossweisse exclaimed in shock.
But then it got worse when two more lights appeared on both his left and right side, before they exploded and destroyed the large builds. As the dust settled, they revealed two identical wolves, but neither were as tall as Fenrir. One had far darker grey fur. The other one had grayish-blue fur similar to that of Fenrir's if not slightly darker, but both of them still possessed the same two golden horns from their shoulders.
"And his runts, Hati and Sköll," said the Valkyrie.
"So he's got a bunch of giant wolves," Karen said nonchalantly with a shrug. She then yelled up at the god. "IS THAT ALL YOU GOT, YOU THIRD-RATE GOD?!"
Kenny sighed. "Why did you have to say that? You know he's going to have something else to throw at us!"
And Loki most definitely did have something up his sleeve for them. The God of Mischief raised his hand into the air as a thunder cloud appeared above them. Kenny and the others prepared as a massive bolt of lightning shot down from the sky into a large opening in the city ruins. From it appeared a grey serpent with an Eastern dragon head and an enormous body measuring around 500-600 meters in length.
The giant serpent lets out a massive roar as it stood alongside Fenrir and his son. The Minions of Set stood in front of them. Karen looked a little sheepish as Kenny, Saji, and Tsubasa's heads grew comically large and glared down at her. "Oh... sorry..."
"Midgardsormr is even worst. The Midgard Serpent is one of the Five Great Dragon Kings," Rias said with an annoyed look on her face.
"Did we plan on there being even more legendary monsters?" Irina asked fearfully as the monsters moved around the group. Surrounding them completely.
"No, we didn't, though I really should have known better," the silver-haired woman muttered.
"So, what's the plan, Rias?" Kenny asked in a fighting pose.
"Stop Loki and destroy the Minions. Simple as that," Rias said in her authoritative voice. "Our families are counting on us to stop him and that's exactly what we're going to do."
Loki smirked smugly as the Midgard Serpent's head was right next to him. "Touching sentiment, but I must tell you it will never work!" He snapped his fingers. The serpent and the god's grandkids, Sköll and Hati, and son charged at the students.
"We still have to find the Scarab!" Karen said, summoning her little Light-Sticks and preparing to fight back.
"Karen, I want you to go with Rosseweisse," Rias told her, uncrossing her arms. "We'll give the two of you an opening to find the tomb."
"Right!" The two girls nodded their heads.
"Kenny!" Rias shouted.
"Saji!" Sona shouted.
The two boys stood back to back. Kenny had his sword ready and Saji stood in a fighting pose. It was time to put their training to good use. "Are you boys ready?" The two Kings asked their Pawns.
"Ready! Promotion to Queen!" The two shouted together as they promoted to Queen Rank. Kenny then raised his sword up to the sky.
"BALANCE BREAKER!" Kenny shouted to the sky, and his body was once again cloaked in his dragon aura and his sword glowed white light.
[Welsh Dragon: BALANCE BREAKER!]
Kenny then reappeared in his new Scale Mail armor. He then sprouted his wings and jumped high up into the air. Loki looked bored at him. "So, this is the Red Dragon Samurai that I've heard so much about. Yet, I'm still disappointed," he said before slapping his figures. A magic circle appeared in the air next to him and from it fired magical blue darts at the samurai.
Kenny flicked his wrist, angling the blade to have its side facing up.
SLICE! SLICE! SLICE! SLICE!
In the blink of an eye, Kenny moved forward. Passing the missiles before they disappeared. Having been sliced to pieces by the Sword. Kenny grinned behind his helmet, happy with the results of three weeks of nonstop training.
He then flew towards Loki to cut him down. Until...
BASH!
Suddenly he was punched in the face by one of the Minions. Sending him rocketing down towards the ground.
He crashed down on the ground an audible thud before he was grabbed and pulled up.
BASH! POW!
One Minion punched him two times in the face.
POW! POW!
Then another one started punching him.
BASH!
Then the Minion with the club, hit him in the face, sending Kenny spinning while stumbling back
SLASH! BASH!
The battle-ax Minion slashed across his back, breaking off chips and bits of his armor while also ripping the membrane of his right side wing. The club Minion then hit him in the back as well. It then moved around Kenny and started drumming its weapons hard in his torso, chipping off more armor
BASH! BASH! BASH! BASH! BASH! BASH! BASH! BASH!
POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW!
Without mercy and without relenting, the Minion's of Set continued beating Kenny, but thankfully his armor held up. But even with the Scale Mail, he felt all the blows and hits to his body. His head snapping from left to right. Nearly knocked unconscious, he was hit in the back by the club Minion and slammed into a wall. Leaving an imprint of his body in it.
"Kenny!" The others screamed.
Behind his visors, Kenny's eyes snapped open when he saw the battle-ax Minion rush at him and swung down at his head.
CLASH!
He quickly brought his sword up and blocked the ax. But then the sword minion rushed in and slashed at him, but Kenny quickly blocked the attack. He turned and parried one of the third Minion's short clubs, only to be hit in the side by the other club.
The samurai was sent rolling across the ground, before stopping.
Right in front of Fenrir!
Kenny gasped at the giant wolf lunged at him with his massive jaws open. But just before he could activate his thrusters to blast him out of there, Xenovia rushed in and knocked her crush out of the way. Then Kiba came in and slashed across the muzzle of Fenrir. Sending him stumbling back into some of the columns of the city.
"Thanks, guys," Kenny said with a smile. But then his smile dropped and it was back to fighting when the Minions jumped at him. Keny blocked many of their attacks before locking blades with battle-ax Minion. "I'll hold off the Minions! You guys take out the other monsters!"
The Minion tried biting at his face as it pushed him back across the sands, but Kenny powered up a Red Dragon Slash. The Minion jumped back just as Kenny swung the Sword and sent the attack out. The arch destroying some of the ruins.
"Just be careful, Kenny!" Kiba yelled as he and Xenovoia stood in front of the legendary wolf.
"Leave this beast to the Knights. Let's go, Durandal!" Similar to Kenny's energy attack, Xenovia raised her sword into the air and slashed it down. Sending a massive energy wave towards Fenrir.
"How about a taste of my Sword Birth!" Kiba shouted as he stabbed Holy Demonic Sword into the ground. The blades of the holy-demonic swords came out of the ground and stabbed into the body of the wolf, pushing him back into some columns before Xenovia's energy wave crashed into him.
BOOM!
A little bit away from the explosion caused by Xenovia's attack, Kenny jumped back from the Minions. Without his wings, and with the evil Egyptian monsters relentlessly attacking him, Kenny couldn't fly and use the skies to his advantage.
The sword and club Minions jumped over and landed in front of him and the fighting resumed. The sword Minion swung down at him, but Kenny parried the attack, before jumping out of the way the second Minion jumped down at him with both clubs. Hitting the ground before leaping away. Then the battle-ax Minion rushed at him and swung at his torso, but Kenny hopped back, before blocking the sword again.
One of Fenrir's sons rushed at him, but then Koneko jumped down from above and kicked him in the head. Sending the crashing down on the ground.
Meanwhile, Rias, Sona, Tsubaki, and Akeno were standing in front of Midgardsormr. Behind them were Rossweisse and Karen. "Figures we'd be left with the biggest one," said the redhead beauty.
"It's not like we've already fought life-threatening bosses before," Karen commented.
Unlike how she'd usually start her fights, Akeno wasted no time with words and charged up a lightning attack between her hands. "Lightning!" She yelled and sent her attack at Midgardsormr.
ZAP!
The Midgard Serpent roared in pain as it was hit in the face with Akeno's lightning. But, it wasn't effective enough to bring the monster down. Instead, it recovered and unleashed a breath of fire on the Devils, Fall Angel, and Valkyrie. Forcing them to take to the air. With only her Devil wings out, Akeno looked back at the dragon.
In Akeno's eyes, the attack was pathetic. She barely left a scratch on the damn monster.
"You know what they say about playing with fire!" said Tsubaki as she activated her Sacred Gear. "Mirror Alice!"
Forming the large full-body mirror in front of her body, the Vice-President of the Student Council sent the column of fire right back at Midgardsormr. Setting the monster on fire before the Mirror Alice broke.
Rias looked at Tsubaki with wide eyes. "I remember when she used that," she said, recalling how the glasses-wearing girl had saved her boyfriend when the X-models tried to kill him.
Sona landed on the ground next to her. With them were still Rosseweisse and Karen. "It's Tsubaki's Sacred Gear. When the Mirror Alice shatters when taking a hit, it reflects the attack back the enemy with twice the power."
"Thanks for the heads, a countering Gear like that could spell big trouble for an offensive team like mine," Rias said with a somewhat amused smirk.
"Desperate times. I was planning on saving it for a game," Sona said.
"We still have to find the tomb," Rossweisee said, getting everyone back to the situation at hand by pointing to Kenny. He was still fighting against the Minions.
Rias' expression changed from worried for her love to have a look of confidence. "He'll more than capable of standing up against them," she said, having complete faith in Kenny's abilities. She then turned to the two non-Devils. "But you're right. We've got to find that Scarab. When you see an opening, start looking for it!"
She then turned back to Midgardsormr and summoned a magic demonic circle in front of her, before unleashing her magic in a massive attack.
"And we better find it quickly," Sona said, summon a blue magic circle. From it, she summoned a giant serpent made from water. The Water Serpent bit down on the Midgard Serpent and dragged it down to the ground. However, Midgardsormr used his magic to evaporate the water. Destroying the giant Water Serpent and creating a cloud of steam.
"Alright, let's go!" Rossweisse said and Karen nodded. The young girl opened her wings and set off following the Valkyrie into the ruins of the city.
As they headed off to find the tomb, Midgardsormr reared his head up and roared.
"Okay, so it's resilient," Rias commented, shielding her face with her arm.
Sona turned back around to look at her. Having taken off her glasses and was now cleaning the leans with a white piece of cloth. "Good thing we're only trying to distract this thing. Because beating this thing is way out of our grade."
Rias smiled. "You're always such an optimist."
And dealing with the final young wolf were the final two members of the group, Tsubasa and Irina. Being a master of hand-to-hand combat, the blue-haired girl got in a fighting stance. Sköll growled at the girls. "Let's see if your bites a good as your bark," she said with a slight smirk.
"That's what I wanted to hear. No reason to hold back," Irina said with a smile.
In the air and flying over Fenrir, Xenovia called down to her friend. "Irina, remember that you're still only human! These guys have you outclasses!" She said, gaining Kenny's attention.
"I think you're mistaken," she said with a smile before bringing her hands together as a red "A" printed on her right hand started to glow through her long leather glover. "How about I show you the new me?!" And with that, Irina jumped into the air.
FLAP!
Surprising almost everyone around when she grew a pair of white Angel wings from her back and a glowing glow halo appeared over her head.
Kiba stared in bewilderment. "So that was unexpected."
Kenny parried and blocked the attacks of the Minions as he looked at her with wide eyes. "Wait, Irina!? When did you become an Angel?" He asked, before being forced to return to his fight.
"It's a long story." She smiled at her childhood friend. Then she raised her arm and pointed her finger in the air. From her the tip of her finger, she summoned a light-based weapon in the form of a glowing white halo ring. "All right, bad dog! Now, by the blessing of Lord Michael, I have been reincarnated as an Angel to provide divine retribution and holy wrath, so repent! Amen!"
Irina threw the light halo at the wolf, and it wrapped around his neck. This caused Sköll to fall into a nearby wall. Tsubasa took advantage of the moment and rushed towards one of the city's pillars and jumped at it.
SMASH!
Kicking it with her Demonic Aura surrounding her leg, she was able to knock the pillar over and send it falling and crashing down on the son of Fenrir.
"Oh, come on," she said, placing her hands on her hips. "I was hoping for more of a challenge."
"Yay me!" Irina cheered with a wink.
Xenovia stared at the girl with a look of shock. "Did she just say...reincarnated?"
Kenny smiled at Irina. Angel or not, she hasn't changed from being that cheerful girl that he played with so many years ago. He then turned to the Minions. "Alright, let's dance, you mutts!" He yelled.
The Minions were about to attack when their eyes flashed. One of them glowed before they ran off towards the pillars of the city.
Kenny watched them run on all fours with confusion. But when Rias saw them, she gasped in terror. "They're going in the direction your sister and Rossweisse went off!"
His eyes widened. "Oh no."
Rossweisse and Karen had flown through the ancient ruins of the city. Flying low and using the many columns to hide from Loki, who seemed more focused on being amused with the fighting already going on. They did this until they found what they were looking for. Now, the two were in a large bowl-shaped crater, where they've located the tomb.
The tomb of the Minions of Set was round with two statues of Ra standing on both sides of it. All along the face of the tomb was Egyptian hieroglyphics. Rossweisse stood in front of the tomb, and was scanning through it to try and decipher the symbols and find what they need.
Karen stood behind her, constantly looking over her shoulder whenever there was an explosion from the fighting. "Will you hurry it up?" She asked impatiently. "They're not going to last long against those things."
"I suggest that if you want to find it faster, then help me," Rossweisse retorted with a stern look on her face. Not turning her attention away from the hieroglyphics.
"Yeah? Well, I can't read that crap," Karen snapped.
"Then I expect that you allow me to do what I can here to do!"
Karen scuffed and shook her head. "Yeeesh, Odin was right. You're never gonna land a man..." she murmured, but then she shrugged. "Or maybe Kenny could-"
"I found it!" Rossweisse suddenly said. Karen quickly rushed over and joined the Valkryie and stared at the symbols she had her armored hand near. The white-haired woman then started reading. "'If the evil should ever be freed, your only salvation will be to summon the protector and call the Sun. To do this you must look for it at the seat of evil.'"
"Seat of evil? The hell does that even many?!" Karen asked, throwing her arms up and walked away from the tomb.
Rossweisse stared at the tomb for a moment as Karen walked away for a moment. Before something made her suddenly stop. "Seat of evil?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. Karen suddenly turned around and started running back towards Rossweisse with a panicking expression on her face. "Could it be?"
"Time to go!" Karen tackled her to the ground just as the club Minion landed behind her and swung at them.
SMASH!
The two flaming weapons destroyed the surface of the tomb.
Karen summoned her small Spears of Light to block the attacks. However, she was no match for the brute force of the Minion and her two weapons were knocked out of her hands before she was punched in the gut. Sending her flying to the ground while spitting out bail.
Rossweisse stared at the little girl with shocked eyes before turning back to glare at the Minion, as its brothers showed up. "For Asgard!" She yelled, summoning a Norse magic circle from her hands in front of her. She then blasted magical needles at the monsters.
The Minions dodged the attacks as they rushed towards her.
Rossweisse gasped as the Minion stood in front of her and raised it's Khopesh into the air to cut her down.
It swung down its flaming sword.
SLICE!
Suddenly, at the last second, Kenny arrived, pulled Rosseweisse aside and held her in his arm, and sliced off the Minion's hand. He then swung at its torso.
CUT!
The Minion let out a gurgling sound as it was cut apart. However, to Kenny's horror, the Minion's body pulled itself together and then reached down and grabbed its sword.
Letting go of the blushing Valkyrie, Kenny blocked another swing at his head, before he was punched in the face by the snarling Minion. Then the one with the ax came and Kenny blocked it from cutting into his back.
CLASH!
He then blocked one of the clubs. Then the sword Minion came at him again.
However, before it could reach him, Rossweisse fired another barrage of magic needles at the Minions, making them jump back from the samurai. "Kenny!" Kenny turned towards them and saw his sister waving to him to come over. "Come on! We've got what we came for!" Kenny quickly jumping out of the crater and next to them before they started running away. The Minions followed them by jumping out of the crate and chased after them into the ruins of the city.
The three members of the new alliance jumped over a pillar that had toppled over, as the Minions ran after them. While running, Rossweisse placed a hand on her right hair clip. "Attention everyone!"
Back on the battlefield, Rias, Sona, and their peerages were still fighting off the Norse monsters when all of them had a small magical circle appear near their ear.
"We've found what we're looking for!" Rosseweisse said as she and Karen went on ahead. Kenny stopped and used his dragon and Queen promotion strength to knock over one of the pillars. Causing it to knock into other pillars and fall down and block the Minion's path.
"What do we need to do?" Rias asked. She then flew up to avoid another attack from the serpent when it lunged at her to eat her.
Kenny, his sister, and the Valkyrie stopped for a moment. "The prophecy said to look for the seat of evil. I can only assume that means finding the statue of Set," theorized Rossweisse.
"A statue that's sitting down on a throne of some kind," Sona said.
"That's right," Rias said with a nod. She then landed on a pillar and called for everyone through the communication circle. "Everyone! Fan out and find that statue, then Rossweisse, head to the person that found it to translate the next step."
"Right!" Everyone exclaimed.
From his place from high above, Loki's expression of amusement turned to a look of confusion. The teens all scattered from their fighting and started running or flying throughout the city. Fenrir broke out of his prison of sword blades and chased after Kida and Xenovia, while the great wolf's sons went after their targets. Midgardsormr continued fighting the Kings and Queens, but the girls were still looking around the ruined city from above.
"Just what are these weaklings doing?" He asked.
Suddenly he heard something coming at him. Loki looked out of the corner of his eye and quickly moved out of the way when a familiar glowing glue line shot at him.
"You underestimate us!" Saji yelled as he retracted his Absorption Line. "Big mistake!"
"The only thing 'big' is your talk, little boy," Loki said. Karen then flew up from behind the god and threw two of her Spears of Light at him, then summoned two more and threw them. However, Loki was able to dodge all four attacks.
"Dude, was that supposed to be a comeback?" Karen called up to him as she landed next to Saji. She grinned up at the god. "For a god, that was just fucking weak."
"Note." Loki turned held out a hand at the two and fire a barrage of magical needle missions at them. Karen quickly jumped into the air and grabbed Saji's arms before flying off.
BOOM!
When the missiles hit the ground where the two previously were, it created an explosion that destroyed the building and the debris of the ruins. "Karen!" Kenny shout as he ran through the ruins. From where he was, it just looked like his sister and friend were blasted by the arrogant god.
"Pay attention!" called out a familiar voice.
Kenny turned his head to the right.
RRRROOOOOOAAAAARRRRR!
And jumped back when Hati lunged at him. Jaws open to bite down on the Red Dragon Samurai.
POW!
But just at the last second, Koneko stopped the wolf by rushing over and tackling it in the face.
BASH!
Then she swung her legs down and delivered a kick to the wolf's face.
As Hati crashed down on the ground, Koneko jumped off. Kenny looked up at her in amazement becoming surprised when from under her skirt and poking out from her blue and white stripe panties grew a long white cat tail. And on her head came out a pair of white cat ears. She back-flipped in the air before landing next to Kenny with a "Meow".
"Koneko? Are you sure?" Kenny asked with concern, knowing how much she hated using her Nekomata powers.
"Don't worry, I got it under control," she said with determination. Her tail wagging around slowly. "I will master this power. My fear will not define who I am anymore." Hati started to get back up, and Kenny prepared himself for battle. "You said you'd protect me..."
Koneko rushed at the wolf as it charged at her. However, Koneko was able to grab onto its snout, stopping it. Then, using her Rookie's strength, she yanked Hati into the air and started spinning it around.
"But I can protect you too!" She exclaimed, before throwing the wolf into the air. "I can do this!" Focusing on her Nekomata abilities, Koneko charged her fist with ki energy. Creating a ball of blue flame. Then, she shot several white balls of power at the wolf.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Hitting the monster all along its back. Kenny then flew into the air and swung the Sword.
SLICE!
Cutting across the wolf's body. The monster fell down to the ground as blood gushed out of where Kenny slice. With Hati now dead, Kenny landed on the ground, before fist-bumping with Koneko.
As the two started running off in different directions throughout the ruins to look for the statue, Akeno was standing on a pillar after having just watched what Koneko was able to do. She was amazed. Never in her life did she ever image Koneko to get so much stronger just by accepting herself as a Nekomata. This only made Akeno more determined. If Koneko could do it, then so could she.
Akeno turned to the serpent as it faced her. Her face expressed her determination to win. "I'm the daughter of Shuri and Baraquiel Himejima, a Fallen Angel!" She jumped into the air as the monster lunged its head at her with jaws wide open.
That's when Akeno did the unthinkable...
Flap! Flap!
...and opened both of her wings. Black feathers from her Fallen Angel wing fell all around her as she continued. "But also, I am the Devil Queen of Rias Gremory. Akeno Himejima!"
Kenny stopped and watched from the ground. Smiling happily seeing Akeno overcoming her personal demons if just for this one moment. "You can do it, Akeno."
"THUNDERBOLT!" Akeno yelled, pointing a finger to the sky. Up above her appeared her magic circle as her yellow lightning bolts came down upon her. Gather into her hand. Then, with her other hand, she charged lightning that was infused with the power of Fallen Angel light. With both types of lightning together, she blasted them towards Midgardsormr.
ZZZAAAAAAAPPPPPPPP!
The might Midgard Serpent roared in agony as it was electrocuted with both bolts of lightning, before crashing down into the ruin's floor.
From where she stood, Rias watched as her friend took down the monster with a happy smile on her face. She was so proud. She's come a long way from that scared little girl she found in the wood that was going to be killed by her own clan. "You did it. You finally put it behind you," Rias said, whipping away a tear that was about to run down her cheek. "I'm so proud."
Kenny smiled at Akeno, before remembering he still had a job to do. And so, he ran off to find the statue.
However, it turned out he didn't have to go too far. Only a few meters, he turned the corner of a pillar and stopped when he saw a statue of Set sitting down. He quickly summoned a communication circle to his ear.
Rossweisse was with Tsubasa and Irina, helping them fight Sköll. Being hit with one final blow, the wolf fell down onto the sand with blood coming out of his mouth. The woman and the two teenage girls stared down at the wolf with sighs of relief. Now they could work together to find the statue.
Just then, a circle appeared over their ears and everyone else on the group's ears on the battlefield. "Rossweisse, I've found the statue."
"Understood, I'll be on my way," she said before turning to Tsubasa and Irina. Go and assist your friends with Fenrir. "He's not an easy foe to take down, and they'll need all the help they can get to defeat him."
"Right!" The two girls nodded before flying off to find their comrades. Then Rossweisse jumped into the air.
The circle disappeared from his armored ear, and Kenny ran over to the statue. However, just as he reached it, he heard something. Stopping to listen, he turned around when it sounded like the Minions snarling. It came from far away, but they were getting close.
Just then, Rossweisse landed a few feet from Kenny and rushed over to him. "Let me take a look, Kenny," she said. Rossweisse leaned down with her left hand on her knee and her other hand pushing back some of her hair. Kenny looked away when seeing her ass sticking out when she bent over to look. Even after having sex with four other girls in his harem, his teenage hormones were still a curse he had to live with.
"Yes, this is it. This is the first place of the Scarab," Rosseweisse said, before getting down on one knee and started patting the cold surface of the statue with her hands. Trying to find a secret button or something to activate the next clue. "But how are we going to get it?"
Kenny turned his head back and spotted something in the middle of the rolls of hieroglyphics. It was a scarab with some golden lines going down to a little slot that went into the set of the statue. Kneeling down next to the beautiful Valkyrie, Kenny's claw figures reached into the slot. He then pulled them back out when he felt something pushing against his figures.
The two watched as a small stone slab extended out from the statue. In it was the first part of the Golden Scarab. The right half of its body. Kenny reached in and pulled it out. Uncovering another set of symbols.
As the samurai held onto the first half, Rossweisse translated the hieroglyphs. "'Look for the other half where the moon hits the sea of reeds.'"
"Sea of reeds?" Kenny asked. "How are we supposed to find a sea, to begin with? We're in the middle of a fucking desert!"
"So, this is what you've been doing."
Kenny and Rossweisse gasped when they heard that voice. The samurai jumped in front of Rossweisse and stood in a fighting stance as they looked up. Floating above was none other than the God of Mischief. Smirking down at them. "At first, I was disgusted with all the cliché teenage angsts, but now you've made things even more interesting," Loki commented. "But do know that I'll not allow you to summon the Sun God of Egypt."
Rossweisse moved in front of Kenny as she glared up at the son of Odin. "I'll handle him. You go find the other piece and call me when you found it."
"Right!" Kenny turned around and started running off.
However, the Battle-Ax Minion jumped out of nowhere at Kenny. It swung down at him, but Kenny blocked the attack, only to be sent flying when the Minion punched him in the gut.
As the Red Dragon Samurai landed on the ground, scarab piece still in his hand, the Club Minion threw one of his weapons at the young man. Kenny got up and started running away, as the twirling rod followed him. Acting as a beckon for the other Minions to follow.
While she wanted to help Kenny, Rossweisse focused on Loki and floated in the air to face the god. "Lord Loki, it isn't too late to apologize and stop the Minions of Set. The All-Father may still forgive you," she said.
"But before you said I was unforgivable," Loki remarked in a rather annoyed tone. "And why should I be the one to apologize when he's clearly in the wrong?"
Rossweisse frowned before summoning up to 12 magical Norse circles around her. All facing the evil god. "Then you leave me no choice!" She proclaimed, firing dozens of blue magic attacks at Loki.
However, Loki simply deflected the attacks with his hand. But just when he blocked the last one, he was taken by surprise when Saji's Absorption Line suddenly wrapped around his left wrist. He looked down to see the young man grinning up at him while standing up on top of a pillar.
"I caught a big one," Saji said with a chuckle.
CLASH!
Kenny blocked another attack from the Khopesh Minion, but said, "Nice work, Saji!"
"I'm fighting for a school out here man, this ain't nothing!" Saji exclaimed.
Kenny was sent crashing back into a wall after being hit by one of the Minions. His helmet was mostly gone, leaving his face and hair, while the sides and his chin were still protected by the Scale Mail. He looked up and gasped, seeing the Battle-Ax Minion jumping up to bring his weapon down on the young man.
BASH!
Suddenly, Karen flew in from the monster's left side and hit it across the face with one of her Light-Sticks. "Preach it, Saji!" She yelled, she turned to her brother. "Alright, what did Rossweisse say we had to find?"
"Something to do with a sea of reeds," Kenny said. Noticing that the Minions were coming at him again, he rushed towards them and continue fighting them.
Karen watched for a moment with a dumbfounded expression. "But we're in the middle of a fucking desert!"
"I know that already!" Kenny yelled while blocking several swings and hits from the Club Minion. He then summoned Ascalon from his left wrist and parried both the Khopesh and Battle-Ax Minions' duel slashes. "Head back to Rias and the others! I'll find the second piece!"
"Oh please," Loki said with a roll of his eyes. "This can't hold me." He then tried to use his power to break free of the line. But, to his surprise, it didn't do anything. He grabbed his wrist and tried pulling away from Saji. "But how? Why didn't it break?"
Saji grinned as a glowing purple light shinned around his arms and legs, before it disappeared. Revealing that the Absorption Line had expanded and formed armor for his arms and legs. "Azazel gave me a full-on upgrade this past month," he said, closing his eyes. When he reopened them, his left eye was changed to resemble a dragon's eye. "Now All of Vritra's Sacred Gear Types are at my disposal."
From his Sacred Gear came a jet-black flame with a hint of purple mixed in it that traveled up the line towards Loki This was Vritra's deadly black flames, which would continue to burn no matter how people try to extinguish them.
"So, these are the Prison Dragon's dark flames," Loki said, looking at the fire as his body became covered in it. However, he wasn't harmed by the flames.
"Damn straight, and even a god can't shrug off my cursed power like it's no biggie," Saji said with new-found confidence.
Kenny was once again running away from the Minions. He still had to find the second piece of the Golden Scarab. Behind him, the Minions continued running towards him on all four legs. As the chase went under a building with a roof that was still intact after thousands of years, the Khopesh Minion jumped up and ran upside down on the ceiling. Going ahead of the other two Minions.
When it pasted Kenny, it jumped down at landed in front of him. Drawing its weapon. Kenny's eyes widened before he scowled. Using his powers, he fixed his damaged wing. Now able to fly again, he jumped up and took flight. Going over the Minion before it could slash at him.
High in the air, Kenny looked around for above to try and find this Sea of Reeds. But down on the ground, the Minions weren't giving up. Snarling, they started climbing up onto the pillars and walls of the ruined city. Once above the grounding, they started hopping from pillar to pillar. Keeping up with the flying Pawn.
Suddenly, the Club Minion jumped up and flew towards Kenny.
BASH!
Hitting him in the back. Kenny cried out in pain as he was sent crashing down to the ground and landed next to a long wall that stretched for about a mile.
On his stomach, Kenny looked over his shoulder and quickly rolled out of the way when the Minion came falling down towards him. It slammed its weapon down on the ground where Kenny once was, before hitting him in the face with a backhanded strike.
Kenny stumbled back a bit, but regaining his senses in time to block a slash from the Khopeah Minion's sword. Then he parried a swing from the Club Minion as the previous Minion jumped into the air with its Khopesh raised above its head.
Kenny jumped out of the way, avoiding getting his body cut in two and landed a few feet from the Minions. As all three Minions stood in front of him, Rias suddenly appeared. Landing beside him with a glare as she stared at the monsters.
Before Kenny could ask what she was doing, she answered. "I've left Sona, Tsubaki, Akeno, and Karen take care of the serpent," Rias said, as her red aura flowed from her body. Now rejoined with her boyfriend, she'll teach them a lesson for harming her man.
However, before the two could start fighting the Minions, Loki shouted, "Such outstanding arrogance!"
FLASH!
The flames on his body were suddenly extinguished as a blast of bright blue energy escaped from the god's body. This caused the Absorption Line to release him as the sky lit up with blue light. Everyone looked up at the sky as lightning flashed from the clouds. Then things turned bad when the winds started blowing harshly with the same force of a hurricane. Some of the pillars around the ruins started falling over.
"Lord Loki, stop! Please, I beg you! At this rate, you'll destroy not only the human world, but the mythological worlds as well!" Rossweisse pleaded to the god.
"Which is exactly what I want, dear!" Loki smirked as the winds started getting worse. Using his powers to turn the storm into a hail storm with large chunks of ice falling from the sky.
Kenny quickly turned and covered Rias with his armor. Protecting his girlfriend from being pelted by the ice. "I've got you, Rias!" He grunted.
The Minions would have attacked him with his back turned toward them, but they too were fighting against the winds. The strong current of air was pushing them back, making their feet drag through the sands. However, the Khopesh Minion stopped itself by stabbing the sword into the ground and held onto it. The other two Minions followed their brother's example, and stabbed their weapons into the ground.
Together, they started slowly crawling towards Kenny and Rias.
"Ragnarok is coming! This moment is what I've been working toward from the beginning!" Loki proclaimed, victoriously.
"How can he do this?!" Rias shouted over the rushing winds, while Kenny kept her covered.
A few meters away, Rossweisse took shelter behind a pillar as she looked around it at the devastation being caused by Loki. "He's strong enough to do whatever he wants, even destroy Hell. He's a god!"
Some of the others, however, were not faring well against the storm. Kiba screamed in pain as he was hit in the head by a block of ice. Forcing him to release Fenrir from the prison of blades that he once again trapped him in after managing to get him in the right place. Amongst hundreds of pillars. Just as Fenrir was about to pounce and kill Kiba, Xenovia jumped in and pushed him aside just in time to avoid the monster's snapping jaws.
The storm suddenly stopped, and Kenny lifted his head to see if Rias was still okay. But that's when he noticed the wall she was up against, and scanned its surface. Seeing that the long wall was covered in an endless pattern of reeds. His eyes widened. "Reeds... Sea of reeds..."
"KENNY, LOOK OUT!" Rias shouted.
The Battle-Ax Minion had rushed towards them and swung its ax down on Kenny's back.
CLASH!
But at the last second, Kenny turned around and blocked the attack. He then grabbed Rias' hand and dragged away just in time for when the flaming Khopeah was swung and slashed into the wall.
"Rossweisse! This way!" Kenny called back to the Valkyrie while flying with Rias.
Rossweisse nodded and followed after the Devils, while the Minions gave chase.
Once she caught up to them, Kenny, Rias, and Rossweisse flew together along the entire length of the wall. A wall with an endless number of reed-shaped patterns that it really could be called a sea.
"Oh, don't be like that. This is the dawning of Ragnarok!" Loki spread his arms out, and the trickery god summoned three magical circles around him. He then moved the circle and placed them one after another in front of his hands and pointed them to the sky. "At least your lives will have an epic finale!" With a smug grin, Loki blasted his powerful magic into the air.
Kenny looked up and saw the column of light hit the sky and it started to glow. Sensing that something bad was going to happen, he and the two women with him picked up the speed and rushed towards a roof that was in front of them.
BLAST! KA-BOOM!
Making it and getting under the ceiling just in time before Loki rained down a barrage of magical columns of light that tore up the entire city even more. Striking down all on everyone still outside. Xenovia and Kiba screamed as they were the most unfortunate. Being caught up in the attack and falling off the side of a building, down onto debris as the city started collapsing all around them. Akeno was about to save Koneko from the attack with a magic shield. Irina did the same with her holy magic to protect herself and Tsubasa. Saji's pillar was knocked over and he screamed while falling down to the ground near Sona, Karen, and Tsubaki, as the Queen also used her magic to make a shield.
Surprisingly, the temple that Kenny, Rias, and Rossweisse were under didn't collapse.
Looking at the bodies of Xenovia, Kiba, and Saji as they all lay shattered on the ground, Kenny gritted his teeth in anger. "It's not over yet!" exclaimed Rossweisse. Kenny turned to her and saw her pointing to something. "Look there!"
In the ceiling of the temple was a large hole where the moonlight shined through. And high above the ground and on the wall was an object that was reflecting the light.
It was the other half.
Kenny, Rias, and Rossweisse glanced at one another. They then quickly flew towards the second half. Outside, the Minions were reforming to their original forms after they were hit by some of Loki's attacks.
When they arrived at the second half of the scarab, they saw the golden piece on the wall with the complete scarab's body engraved with it. Kenny grabbed the piece, uncovering the final clue from under it. Kenny grabbed the other half and placed them together. Smiling seeing that they stuck together perfectly.
Rossweisse then looked at the hieroglyphs and read them to Rias and Kenny. "'One piece remains. You must look for your salvation in the crown of the great Pharaoh.'"
Suddenly they heard the snarling of the Minions. They turned around and saw them rushing into the temple after them. The Valkyrie led the two Devil up and they flew through the hole in the ceiling. Exiting out of the temple, they saw Loki hovering a few meters away a smirk on his face.
"And so it ends. What could be a more fitting reward for your efforts than being the first of Ragnarok's many sacrifices? I expect you all feel honored," Loki said with a smug look on his face and an evil glint in his eyes.
Just then, the Minions jumped from out of the same hole in the ceiling and stood together on the roof. Loki's smirk only grew as his pawns were still with him.
With an angry look on her face, Rias conjured a magical portal before pulling out the container of Phoenix tears. "Sona, get the others back up," she said, tossing the container through the portal.
"Guess we'll have to take him on," Kenny said, raising the Sword slightly.
Down on the ground, Sona caught the container of tears as Karen stared up at Loki and her brother. "He's really going to fight someone like Loki," she asked worriedly.
"I know it looks bad," Sona said as she approached the young girl. She then placed one of the vials in Karen's hands. "But have faith in your brother, as I do."
Karen looked at the vial and up at Sona, before nodding with a look of determination. "I'll go and get Xenovia back up," she said, opening her wings and flying off.
Sona and Tsubaki glanced at one another and nodded. The latter flew off to go heal Kiba as Sona went over to Saji's unconscious body. Kneeling down next to him, she opened the vial and poured out a single drop of it onto Saji's neck. Instantly, the tear worked its magic and Saji's body started shining a purple glow. Once it went away, Saji opened his eyes.
Groaning groggily, he looked up at Sona as she stared down at him. "Hey... What happened?"
"In short, Loki made us his bitches, and knocked you out. Kenny as the second piece of the Golden Scarab, and we've got a fight to win," Sona said.
Saji quickly sat up, placing a hand on his head. "I'm not done, yet. I'll fight to my last breath, for what you want."
Satisfied with his answer, Sona stood up. "Thank you," she said, standing up and turning around to walk a few steps away from him. That "thank you" really surprised Saji. "I can see why Momo and Ruruko like you so much."
Saji looked a little taken aback. "Wait, what?"
"Get into position and wait for my command." Sona quickly interrupted him. "When Kenny finds that last piece, we're going to need to keep Loki from interfering."
Karen found Xenovia and quickly rushed over to her. "Don't you die on me!" she said, gently placing Xenovia on her back and dropping the Phoenix tear into her mouth.
Meanwhile, Irina and Tsubasa were still holding off Fenrir from attack and eating their injured friends. As the two girls flew in the air, the giant wolf lunged at them with its jaws wide open.
SLASH!
But then, Xenovia came flying in and slashed at the wolf's snout, making him back away. Then Karen diving in and threw multiple mini Spears of Light at Fenrir's back. Making him howl in pain as each spear stabbed into his fur.
"Xenovia! Thank God!" Irina exclaimed in relief.
"Oh, hey, I'm here too," said Karen, flowing down next to her with her arms crossed and a pout. She then turned towards Fenrir and grinned. Conjuring two of her Spears of Light. "Why do we take this pup down? Devil, Angel, and Fallen Angel style!"
"Now you're talking!" Tsubasa smiled and cracked her knuckles.
"We'll be an unstoppable Heaven and Hell combo!" Irina said, raising her hand in the air as a ray of light shined on her through the moonlit night. Summoning into her hand a Holy Sword with a blade of burnished steel, with a crystal embedded in a golden hilt.
Tsubaki teleported to Kiba and healed him quickly. As she placed the cap on the vial, Kiba got up and rubbed his head. "What a surprise. You're helping me?" He asked.
"It was by order of my mistress," replied Tsubaki.
Kiba got off the ground and stood up to face Fenrir as the others held him off. Tsubaki then joined him and stood up. "In this fight, I'll need all the help I can get. So how about we take this to the next level and team up?"
"It's not the worst plan I've heard today," she commented. The two then looked at another.
Kiba smiled as he admired her heterochromic eyes. "You know, I could think of much worse ways of dying. At least I'll be by you."
Tsubaki gasped lightly as her eyes widened. She then quickly looked away with her cheeks flushing slightly, before recomposing herself. "Y-You shouldn't say things like that."
Kenny landed on the ground with the Sword raised over his head. The Minions of the Set landed on the ground in front of him and all there still for a moment. Then the Battle-Ax Minion rushed over and Kenny swung at it, but it jumped back, giving the other two Minions an opening to charge. The Club Minion lunged at him, and Kenny defended himself from its attack on his head, before having to fly up into the air to avoid a slash at his neck from the Khopesh Minion.
One of the Minions grabbed him by his ankle. Kenny gasped and that was all he was able to do before he was pulled and slammed down on his back.
As he lay in the sand for a moment and everything around him sound dulled out, Kenny looked to his left. He didn't know why, but he just felt something in his head telling him to look in that direction.
Fall away from where he was, there was still a part of the city that wasn't completely destroyed. With his dragon powers heightening his eyesight, Kenny could make out the shape of three statues surrounded by the remaining pillars.
And there was something flashing reflective light. As he stared at it, Vishnu's words replayed in his head.
"Trust not what you see, but what you feel."
Kenny's eyes widened. "That's it..."
CLASH!
With lightning-quick reflexes, Kenny blocked the Khopesh sword when the Minion who wielded it tried to chop his face in two. He then kicked it off before getting up and flying straight for the last part of the Golden Scarab.
At the same time, Rias fired another attack at Loki. Sending out a massive blast of her crimson Devil magic at the god. "Pathetic!" he proclaimed and blocked the attack. Rias knew that this wasn't good. Reviving everyone used up all of the Phoenix tears. We wouldn't survive another one of Loki's attacks.
Rossweisse then noticed Kenny flying away from the battle with the Minion chasing after him. "Where's he going?" She asked, getting Rias to look.
The redhead's eyes widened. "It's the last piece! It has to be!"
"That can't be!" Loki, for the first time since the start of the fight, looked worried. He then gritted his teeth and started to rush towards Kenny. "I'll kill you all!"
WRAP!
But was stopped when Saji's Absorption Line wrapped around one of his ankles. "Where do you think you're going?" Saji grinned.
Loki gritted his teeth in anger, but then he spotted his son surrounded by most of the others. "Fenrir," he called out to the wolf, who looked up at him. The god then pointed at Kenny. "I have a new chew toy for you!"
The Devils, Angel, and Fallen Angel surrounding the giant wolf weren't prepared for him to suddenly jump over them and start running after Kenny. "He broke loose!" Kiba exclaimed.
"Watch out!" Rossweisse called
Kenny looked back and saw the wolf coming at him at full speed. There was nothing that he could do, as Fenrir lunged at him with jaws wide open.
But before Fenrir could get his teeth on Kenny to kill him, a familiar-looking purple magic circle appeared on the ground underneath the wolf's body.
Raddle... SNAP!
From that magic circle shot out many large, glowing white chains that wrapped around Fenrir's legs, neck, and body. Pulling him down just before he could chomp down on Kenny's body. High in the air, Kenny stopped and stared down at Fenrir with wide eyes. "Wait..."
"That sigil!" Loki exclaimed, staring as Fenrir was pulled down to the ground. "What is this?!"
"The magic chains and Gleipnir?! What's going on?" Rossweisse demanded, also shocked seeing the chains stop the wolf from killing the Red Dragon Samurai.
"I might've had a little something to do with that."
Kenny's eyes widened. He knew that voice. As did Koneko. The two of them turned their heads to the right and saw Kuroka. The black-haired nekomata was sitting up on top of a destroyed building with her unique magic circle standing behind her. Healed completely from her fight with Kenny, and now dressed again in the same dress that he'd destroyed.
Smiling down at her little sister, Kuroka looked very pleased to see Koneko's ears and tail out. "Looks like you've expected your power. What a relief your ears and tail have finally made an appearance," she said.
"Maybe, but I will never be like you, Kuroka!" Koneko proclaimed, staring defiantly at her older sister.
"I suppose we'll have to wait and see. We are a violent species and peace isn't a big part of our genetic makeup," Kuroka said with a small smile. Almost as if hiding a sadness within her. "You'll see, one day."
"Damnit! Loki and those Minions were one thing, but now Kuroka?" Kenny muttered to himself, believing that things had just tried bad. However, he looked down at Fenrir and saw him still chained up. She had just saved his life, but there was something else going on. Kenny didn't dwell on it too long and quickly sped off towards the statues.
Furious, Loki blasted Saji, who was distracted by Kuroka's sudden appearance. Knocking him on his back and breaking the line around his ankle. Gritting his teeth, Loki raised his hands above his head and summed his power for another attack. This time directed at Kuroka. "I can't believe a lowly cat-devil would dare betray Loki!"
Loki launched his attack. Raining down a barrage of his Norse magic down on Kuroka.
SHATTER!
But the attack never made it to her. Just meters away from hitting Kuroka, the magic broke apart into pieces. "What now?!" He demanded.
Standing behind Kuroka was another person. A bespectacled young man with blond hair with a strand of hair across his face, who is usually dressed in a business suit. In his right hand, he wielded a sword, which was pointed out to the right as he stretched out his arm. The sword had a grip long enough that appeared as a two-handed sword with a round pommel at the end, a huge cross-like shape guard, and a long blade with a gold-colored edge.
"Salutations. My name is Arthur of the Vali Team, one of the teams under the Army of Darkness," said Arthur. Intruding himself to everyone in the city, with the exception of Kenny. He then looked up at the doomsday obsessed god. "Lord Loki, we'll be taking custody of Fenrir from this point forward."
"And why would you do that?" Loki asked, sounding more than just annoyed that his plans for Ragnork were still being interrupted by everyone.
As her magic circle lifted off the ground and consumed Fenrir, Kuroka shrugged her shoulders with an amused expression. "Apparently Vali has a hard-on for his fangs, since they can devour gods," she said, while also bringing the giant wolf up onto the building she and Arthur were on.
Arthur held up his sword. Allowing everyone to see it as he spoke in a rather calm and polite manner. Much like how a gentleman would. "The Holy Royal Sword, Caliburn!" He exclaimed, before pointing the blade at Loki. "Even a god as powerful as you cannot scratch it."
Loki fumed with anger. Now he could see clearly. It was Fenrir. Vali was after his son from the very beginning. "Tell your master that he will regret this decision."
Meanwhile, Kenny had finally made it to his destination. A large station of a Pharaoh standing tall above the ground. On both, his right and left were two stations of women, which were smaller compared to Pharaoh. He flew up to the crown of the Pharaoh and looked around it, before seeing what he was looking for.
The head and front legs of the Golden Scarab. Right in the front of the crown. He quickly grabbed and smiled.
"I GOT IT!" Kenny shouted, holding up the final piece of the scarab. Everyone, including Loki, Kuroka, and Author turned to him as he held up the piece.
Ding!
Suddenly, it was knocked out of his hand by a flaming weapon.
The third piece flew through the air after being knocked out of Kenny's hand, and Kenny watched as it landed on the ground. He looked as saw the Khopesh and Club Minions rushing out from the pillars towards it.
He turned back to see the Minion that knocked the piece out of his hand. It had climbed up the statue and was now exposing its teeth at him and glowed.
It swung its battle-ax at Kenny, but the Pawn flew back and then rocketed towards the third piece. Seeing that he wasn't going to make it in time, he grabbed his scabbard and threw it. Knocking the away from the Minion trying to pick it up.
Gritting his teeth in anger, Loki held up his hand and charged another attack to kill Kenny. However, before he could even start, the god was blasted by a due lightning attack that knocked him back by Akeno. She refused to let Kenny be killed by the spoiled deity. And that same sentiment was shared with Koneko, who throw two balls of spiritual energy at Loki, Irina, who attacked with a halo of light, and Sona, who fired a blast of her water magic. All of which knocked around Loki.
Kenny ran towards the Golden Scarab piece. But just as he was about to pick it up, he stopped when a Minion stepped in front of him. The Khopesh Minion started swinging and slashing furiously at Kenny as the samurai tried blocking and parrying the attacks. But then the Club Minion joined in, forcing Kenny to fight the two of them.
After being knocked around, Loki's face now looked absolutely enraged. "Damn you low lives!" He tried to fly around again, but now found both of his arms being held down by two Absorption Lines.
"Not so fast, creep!" Saji yelled, confidently grinning.
"Release me at once, boy!" Loki yelled, shaking in anger and fear. If Ra was summoned it was all over.
Karen then charged past Rias and Rossweisse. She summoned her Light-Sticks, glaring at Loki with determination. She rammed into Loki's back, making the god scream in pain as she stabbed into his back. However, she didn't stop there, and began stabbing repeatedly away. Staining the front of her clothes with blood. "Keep. Your. Hands. Off. My. Brother!"
As the third piece was still laying on the ground, it was suddenly picked up by the Battle-Ax Minion.
The creature threw it up into the air and opened its jaws. Fully intending on eating it whole.
Kenny gasped in terror. Just at the Khopesh and Club Minion simultaneously swung their weapons down on him, Kenny dodged by jumping over them. He then flew as fast as he could with his left hand reaching out to grab the piece.
Time slowed down as the final piece was already going into the maw of the Minion. But just as the monster was about to close its mouth, Kenny reached and wrapped his fingers around the piece, and brought it into his hand. Successful grabbing it, before landing on the ground a few feet away from the three Minions.
Turning around to face everyone, Kenny held up the two halves of the Golden Scarab.
The Minions of Set growled and narrowed their blue glaring eyes at him. Kenny glared back at them and put the Golden Scarab together.
DING!
The two halves came together, before the scarab came to life. Kenny stared at it with wide eyes and let go when it started glowing a bright white and yellow light. It opened its wings and hovered in front of him for a moment, before suddenly turning and flying away. Going right past the Minions as it flew up into the night sky. Only able to be seen by its glowing light as it went further away, before disappearing.
Everyone just stared up at the sky with confusion and bewilderment. Kenny himself turned his head to the Minions, as they soon did the same. Growling like they were chuckling. Rias, Sona, and both of their peerages were starting to feel terror enter into their souls. Their eyes widened as their faces had cold sweats running down them. It didn't work? How? They fought so hard, gave it their all to stop Loki, and just when victory was almost certain, it was pulled out from under them.
Arthur and Kuroka stared at the good guy with confusion. Wondering why the Golden Scarab flying away was causing them to become so fearful. The cat-Devil raised an eyebrow and asked, "So, what was that supposed to do exactly?"
"That was our only way to defeat Loki and the Minions of Set," Rossweisse said, answering Kuroka as the two members of the Army of Darkness looked at her. The Valkyrie was looking between both the Minions of Set and Loki. Unable to move, realizing the situation that they were in. She was brought along to protect Asgard and help find the pieces of the Golden Scarab, but now it was gone. Their hope was gone, and now they were all going to die. "We don't stand a chance. Loki and the Minions are going to kill every last one of us. I'm so useless."
After having launched herself away from Loki's back, Karen shook her head with a look of terror. "No, it-it has to work!" she pleaded.
Loki broke free of Saji's bindings again by blasting him. He started chuckling. "None of you should be getting this worked up," he said with his smug look returning again. His body then started glowing with power as the world around him began to ripple. Like he had turned reality into the surface of water. "Soon, you all will be together when Ragnarok is..." suddenly something started shining in the sky, making Loki look up and his eyes widened. "...finished...?"
At first, all it looked like was just a star that was glowing much brighter than any of the other stars in the sky. But then suddenly that star turned into a massive flash of light that shined all throughout the desert night. As the flash of light started to settle and fade, it only just became more focused. Shining a column of yellow light down onto the entire city.
Kenny; Rias and Rossweisse; Sona, Saji, and Karen; Kiba and Tsubaki; Xenovia, Irina, and Tsubasa; Arthur and Kuroka; and lastly Loki. Everyone from the Devils, Angel, Fallen Angel, Valkryie, god, nekomata, members of the Army of Darkness, they all stared up at the brilliant light. All of them could feel the raw power coming from the light. It wasn't like Holy magic, but felt so much similar and intense as the light shined on their bodies.
The Minions stared also, but they glared at it.
They all watched as a figure started descending from the light. Kenny's eyes widened even more with wonder when he saw who it was.
Ra, the Egyptian God of the Sun.
He looked so much different than he did before. Now with a massive golden-brown body and green eyes, he was the definition of a mighty god coming down to earth to exact divine retribution on all that have insulted him.
As Ra slowly landed on the ground, the sand under his feet kicked up and created a cloud that moved away from him. And then the god of ancient Egypt just stood there. Not moving an inch.
The Minions, harboring a strong hatred towards the Sun God, started growling and barking viciously. Their bodies grew larger as the same blue flame that covered their weapons started covering their bodies. Their black skin bubbling and boiling.
Ra just looked down at them.
Unable to hold back anymore, the Battle-Ax Minions jumped at Ra.
CCCCCCCRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!
Ra fired two intense beams of light from his eyes. The light engulfed the Minion completely. Everyone watched as its body turned into a black silhouette, and then be completely vaporized from existence.
Loki now looked really scared. He whipped his head down to the last two Minion and screamed. "What are you waiting for!? Destroy him!"
The Club Minion jumped on a pillar and then launched itself at Ra.
CCCCCCCRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!
Against, the Sun God fired his eye beams at the Minion. Vaporizing it.
The last Minion did the only thing it could do. It turned around and ran as fast as it could. But Ra was having none of it.
CCCCCCCRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!
Ra's eye beams followed the Minion before hitting it. The monster screamed in anger and pain as it was vaporized and destroyed from this world and all worlds. Never to return again.
Everyone stared in awe, but Loki was absolutely furious. Everything was ruined. "Damn you, Ra!" He shouted in rage as he summoned his magic circles. However, now they were much larger than before, as the god was going for us all his power to destroy everything. "Damn you, Red Dragon Samurai! DAMN YOU, ODIN!"
CCCCCCCRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!
Loki screamed in agony as Ra's light beams struck him. However, instead of vaporizing him, it trapped and sealed the God of Mischief inside of a ball of bright light. All that was able to be seen was his silhouette.
"A plague on all your houses." Kenny and Rias gasped lightly when they heard the voice of Loki from within his prison. But was he really quoting Shakespeare? The ball of light that imprisoned him started to grow smaller and compress in on itself. "A plague on your houses, may you suffer greatly before death."
And with that, Loki vanished. Disappearing to wherever Ra sent him to.
Kuroka and Arthur were still on the building, still watching the heroes finally win. With Loki gone, it's now likely the Sun God was going to turn his attention to them. Which he did. However, Ra didn't do anything but stare at the two rogues. Almost daring them to try and do something that would invoke his wrath.
"I believe it's time that we made our exit," Arthur said, dismissing his Holy Royal Sword. Strong as they were, they would be no match for the Sun God. He then drew another one that was strapped to his hip and stabbed it into Fenrir's head. However, the blade didn't kill him. It glowed magically the moment it touched the wolf's skull. As Kuroka stood up, the gentleman turned around to face the members of the alliance as they all stared at them. "Fare thy well, everyone," he said with a smile before bowing. "Tata."
"Oh, and sis, I'm in a bit of a rush today. But I'll come back again for you sometime." Kuroka said with a smile to Koneko, who only frowned at her.
Then, using her magic, Kuroka teleported herself, Arthur, and Fenrir away.
Kenny turned around and looked up at Ra, who looked down at him. The Red Dragon Samurai opened his wings and flew up on top of a pillar next to the god. Walking over to stand near the edge, Kenny looked up as Ra stared down at him.
"Um, excuse me," he said politely. He's never spoken to a real god before, and with Ra in his all power form right now, Kenny wanted to be careful with how he talked to Ra. "Thank you for destroying the Minions of Set and defeating Loki, but... Could you please... If you'd kindly, bring us back to the Underworld?"
Ra didn't answer and just stared at him for about five seconds. Then, enigmatically, Ra ascended into the sky. Travel up the light that summoned him to earth.
Kenny watched and said, "Guess not."
Ra continued up into the sky, before the light that brought him to earth shrank and closed, before disappearing. Returning the city back to the night.
Kenny stared up at the moon for a moment before letting out a sigh of relief. It was finally over. He jumped off the pillar and landed on the ground. In a flash of light, he changed back into his normal form with his Boosted Gear still active. Picking up his scabbard, he sheath the Sword when he heard the sound of flapping wings behind him. "Kenny!" Rias called after landing on the sands and ran over to her boyfriend. The two collided into a hug and kissed one another deeply for a moment. When Rias pulled away, she smiled up at Kenny rubbed his cheek. "I so glad you're alright."
"As am I, Rias," Kenny said, smiling down at her. He then noticed Sona approaching from behind Rias, smiling at the black-haired teenager.
"I just want to say you did an excellent jump, Kenny. Really," Sona said, still smiling at him as Rias pulled away from her boyfriend. Very impressed with his skills, even if he didn't use his full powers.
"Thank you, Sona," said Kenny with a slight blush. She was really pretty when she smiled.
Meanwhile, Karen sat down on the ground after letting out a massive and exasperated sigh. Leaning her head back, while Saji stood next to her, bending only a little bit with his hands on his knees. "If we ever have to fight another god, it'll be too soon," said the Fallen Angel.
"I hear that," Saji said, panting a little. Using his Sacred Gear like that left him exhausted. He was then punched in the shoulder by Tsubasa.
"You were awesome out there, man," she said as the blonde rubbed his shoulder. "I'll be sure to tell Momo and Ruruko all about how brave you were."
Saji blinked. "What? Why?"
"Ah, jeez, don't tell me you're really that dense. That's so cliche," Tsubasa groaned, rubbing her head. A few feet away, Tsubaki was watching the three talking with a smile. Thinking about how lively both peerages were together individually.
However, it wasn't completely over yet. Behind Tsubaki, the Midgard Serpent raised up after being knocked out by Akeno. Kiba was the first to see it and when he saw it was going for Tsubaki, his eyes widened.
"WATCH OUT!" He yelled and rushed to her as fast as his Knight powers allowed him to. Tsubaki turned around and gasped when she saw the monster roared and lunged at her. Intending to kill her. Luckily, Kiba made it just in time. Picking up Tsubaki bride style, he jumped out of the way of the serpent's jaws. He landed a few feet away and gently placed the girl down, before turning to face the monster.
"Kiba!" Xenovia yelled and threw Durandal at him.
Kiba caught the powerful sword and stood up. Ready to take down the last monster still alive.
However, just before he could, something made a pow sound on the serpent's body. That's when the body of the snake started glowing a bright yellow light as its body inflated where the sound was made.
KABOOM!
And then it blew up in a massive explosion. Kiba used his body to shield Tsubaki from the dust cloud that rushed through them. When the dust had settled, Kiba looked at Tsubaki and tried to suppress his blushing. "Are you okay?"
Tsubaki stared at him for a moment with a blushing face. Snapping back to reality, she tried to regain her calm composure, but started stammered. "I-I-I yes... I..." She coughed into her fist. "I'm fine."
When the explosion went off, Kenny, Rias, and Sona rushed back over to the other. Wondering just what the heck just happened? Especially when they saw that the serpent was completely knocked out from the explosion."Remember, the fight's not over until it's over," said a familiar voice. Kenny's eyes widened when he heard the male voice and turned his head to see none other than Sairaorg standing over the body of the Midgardsormr. And a portal a few feet behind him.
"Sairaorg!" Kenny exclaimed with a grin. He then looked at the monster and wondered if he really defeated it with just one punch.
"Seems like you all have things under control. Vishnu thought that you all would like a way back home," said the taller Devil as he approached Kenny. Smiling at him in an impressed manner. "You're really strong from what I've heard about you." He smirked at Kenny, before gently punching him in the shoulder. "I'd like to fight you and Rias in a Rating Game one of these days. To find out who's number one."
"We don't plan to lose that fight," Rias said with a confident smile as she walked up to her cousin.
"And if this battle really was a demonstration of your club's powers, Rias, I'm more than certain it'll be a very interesting match," Sona said, pushing her glasses up.
"Then I'm expecting nothing less than everything you've got, samurai," Sairorgi said.
"There's just one thing I'm still puzzled by," said Rossweisse after walking over to the small group and joining in on the conversation. "Why did they want Fenrir? What could they be using him for?"
Kenny's smile went away at that moment and he scowled. That was a good question. While he was thankful that Kuroka had stepped in when she did, there were still questions that were still left unanswered. Fenrir being taken was one of them. And if they could have a god, like Loki, on their side, even if he wasn't a member of the Army of Darkness, then just how many more were in their ranks? Just how powerful and crazy were they? All he knew was whatever they wanted Fenrir for, whoever they had fighting for them, it wasn't going to be good.
Far from civilization was a barren wasteland. And in this wasteland of cracking earth and with nothing living or surviving in its harsh environment, there was a tree. A black tree that stood alone. An evil tree that was the form of the greatest evil the world had ever known.
Aku's tree hasn't grown at all since he was planted in the earth, waiting for his time to rise again and smite the world as he did in days long past. However, surround him are a small tar-like pit that devoured any living thing that dared to enter.
But just because he was this small tree that had no chances of growing, doesn't mean that Aku wasn't.
Aku was still very dead. Died when Samurai Jack defeated him. But at the same time, Aku was very much alive. Now he reduced back to how he first came to earth. A small fragment of the evil he once was. Through his Army of Darkness, he had watched and learned. He knows about the story of Samurai Jack. How he banished the samurai into the future, a future that he ruled as the supreme master of the world.
And he knows about Kenny Kurosawa. The legacy of Samurai Jack living on through the young man.
Just as it was before he was freed by the Emperor, Aku's mind was still very much active in the Pit of Hate, the realm that the Black Mass, a force of Ultimate Evil had emerged from. When Aku was planted, his formless conscience was reborn in the Pit of Hate. Even without his true physical form and just a mere tree, Aku watched from this realm as Kenny and his friends win their battle against Loki and the Minions of Set.
"So, the samurai's legacy lives on. And just as it had been in the future of Aku, he has succeeded again in alluding my effort. Many years have gone since that day, and though I'm not at my full power, I'm not worried. For you see, Red Dragon Samurai, the seeds of my return have been planted! Fight as long as you may, but I can still hurt you, even in this form. And when I return, we will finally meet when I see fit, in a time and place of my choosing! And one day, Kenny Kurosawa, you will pay for my pain in the past with your pain in the present! One day, you will fail, and the future will be mine! BWA-HA! HA! HA! HA!"
Episode XXIX
"The Minions of Set"
Narrator: "On the next episode of The Red Dragon Samurai…."
Kenny: "So, we're really going back home so soon?"
Akeno: "Maybe, could I borrow Kenny for just one day?"
Odin: "I don't suppose we've properly met."
Narrator: "The Red Dragon Samurai. Updates coming soon."
Kenny: "Akeno..."
Narrator: "Only on Fanfiction."
AN: I can't tell you how hesitant I was to make the ending. I didn't know if I wanted for Aku to talk, or just allude to the concept that his mind is still active. But I took a risk and just went with him talking, mostly because who doesn't love that evil voice?
I've got to admit, I really wanted to have Kenny "die" for a moment, but it just would have slowed down the momentum of the story. I'll likely have that moment later in the story. Or not. But, yeah, there you go! That's the battle between the new alliance and Loki, his monsters, and the Minions of Set. Instead of wielding Mjolnir, all they had to do was summon Ra! I think it's a nice twist on this battle.
I do admit, this wasn't as focused or as smoothly done as I'd like, but I'm still happy to have gotten this far. Mostly because in Samurai Jack, Jack's fight with the Minions of Set was actually, kind of short. So I had to stretch it out a little bit with what the others were doing, and give them some time in the spotlight.
One thing I'm happy to do was give Kiba and Tsubaki a cute moment. Seriously, why aren't there more stories with these two?
Now I'll be able to do some original episodes before we get back to the canon plot of DxD. One episode would likely be the Rating Game between Rias and Sona, but I'm not really sure. It's kind of alluded to in the show that they were supposed to have a Rating Game, but then I guess Loki attacked and it just never happened.
What do you think? Do you all want Rias and Sona to have their Rating Game in this story or no?
Also, given that season 3 is a lot more relaxed after the Loki incident, until that whole Diodora battle, I'll be able to do some original episodes. Ones that could be inspired by classic Samurai Jack episodes.
So, with this episode all done, I'll be able to move onto the next chapter of "The Seventh Son."
