Author's Note: I apologize for this chapter taking three weeks. I ran into another busy couple of weeks at work and obligations for my family and friends over the summer. Don't forget to vote for the horror movie poll.
Review Responses
Ace6151: I'm glad to hear your liking it. I haven't updated the AOOO version for a while because I've been so occupied with this version (and other things for that matter). But I have backup files to publish there when I get the chance.
Guest, Jul 12th: Lol. That's a good idea. I can imagine a mixture of disgust and sheer amusement from RWBY watching South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.
Zraul Prime: That's a good point. There does come a point where RWBY qualities can't be substituted for Earth qualities. I'll keep that in mind the next time I make an adaptation.
musizlover2008: Don't worry. I discovered that earlier and have made backups for every chapter in case those self-righteous cyberbullies decide to delete my story.
RockNRoll 416: I am planning to have "The Terminator" as a possible future adaptation, if it receives enough votes. I can already imagine the shock and horror on Ruby and Penny's faces seeing the latter play such an uncharacteristic role as an utterly stoic killing machine.
JC of the Corn: Indeed. No father wants to learn that. It'll take the entire audience to hold Ghira back from kicking Sun's ass. And the face melting scene will definitely scar the audience, perhaps even moreso than Judge Tyrion's reveal.
Theanimemaster9000: I did contemplate having Adam play Rene Belloq, but as you said, Cinder has an oilier personality and is more suited for someone seeking the Ark of the Seasons. As for Sienna Khan, I ran out of minor Faunus characters to play Major Gobler, so I chose her. I just felt Adam was a better choice to play Colonel Dietrich.
Soviet commander: A good choice, my friend. That movie made millions of people afraid to go to bed. I haven't thought far enough to decide what kind of film I'll do after the horror adaptation.
ultima-owner: Absolutely. The ruins of Tanis were buried for a thousand years. In that huge space of time, a wall or ceiling within the Well of Souls would have crumbled enough for the snakes to get inside the chamber, especially during the sandstorm.

Back in the tent at the dig site, Blake and Cinder were seated at a table laden with a bottle of distilled liquor and two glasses.
"You pour," Blake insisted softly.
Ruby tilted her head. "What is she doing?" she questioned.
Yang smiled. "I think I know," she answered.
Cinder complied, opening the bottle of liquor, and poured herself and Blake a drink. They clinked their glasses together while Cinder took the first sip.
Blake simply gulped down her drink in one go, much to Cinder's surprise.
Cinder sighed and finished her glass. Blake smiled and poured the next round.
"Cinder didn't think she had a liver of steel," Qrow said smugly, having gotten into drinking matches with guys who assumed the same about him.
"That's what Blake was counting on. She's going to get Cinder drunk so she can make a break for it," Kali said with praise for Blake's cleverness.
"But is that wise?" Oscar countered, knowing Blake was still in the middle of a desert.
Back inside the Well of Souls, Pietro had just rappelled down. With a torch in the former's hand, Sun and Pietro cautiously approached a stone alter at the far end of the chamber. Occasional lightning flashes outside briefly illuminated the room as the duo edged closer.
"Hopefully there won't be any booby traps like the Hovito temple," Coco said warily.
"You're right. It's bad enough with all those snakes covering the floor," Velvet agreed.
Sun slowly placed his hands over the alter. With a wary glance at Pietro, Sun walked to one side of the alter. Pietro took the other side, and with all their strength, the two men lifted off the top of the large stone chest that contained the Ark of the Seasons and dropped it aside with a crash.
A few winced at the loud crashing of the tomb lid as it hit the floor.
"They could try to avoid making so much noise to avoid detection," Weiss said irritably.
Back at the tent, Cinder and Blake were both drunk and laughing at this point.
"Oh, that's good," Blake giggled as she fell out of her chair.
"Whoops," Cinder laughed at Blake's drunken antics.
Ghira sighed and facepalmed at his daughter's counterpart while Kali couldn't help but giggle. Everyone else laughed or snickered while Blake sighed and lowered her head in embarrassment.
Yang patted Blake on the back. "Don't worry. I've done worse during drinking games," she said, before her eyes widened in realization that she said that out loud.
Taiyang gaped at Yang. "You did what?!" (2)
Yang lowered her gaze in shame "Oops..." she muttered sheepishly.
Blake finished her glass. "What is this stuff, Cinder?" she giggled in question as she examined the liquor bottle.
"I grew up with this. It's my family label," Cinder replied.
Blake laughed even harder as Cinder poured the latter another drink. Then suddenly, Blake grabbed the knife hidden underneath her old red pants and held it up at Cinder.
Cinder paused as she stared at the knife, but then drunkenly laughed again while Blake backed up towards the mouth of the tent.
"Wait...why is she laughing?" Ruby asked.
"Either because she's drunk, or because she knows Blake can't escape so easily," Maria pointed out with a frown, now realizing what Oscar meant earlier.
"Well... I have to be going now, Cinder," Blake babbled as she prepared to escape. "I like you, Cinder, very much."
"No, I do not," Blake snarled bluntly.
"Nobody does," Jaune added with narrowed eyes, prompting nods from everybody else.
Cinder's smile faltered at the sight of someone behind Blake.
"Perhaps we'll meet someday under better circumstances," Blake said hopefully as she turned to run off, only to come face to face with Tyrian.
Multiple people gasped to see Tyrian suddenly reappear, knowing it was bad news for Blake.
"We meet again, Madam," Tyrian said as he gripped Blake's wrist, forcing her to drop the knife. "You non-Fang Faunus, you're all the same. Always overdressing for the wrong occasions."
"Says the guy who wears a leather trench coat in the desert," Coco quipped, prompting a few chuckles.
Blake backtracked into the tent and cowered next to Cinder, still wary of Tyrian after the shootout at the bar.
Flanking Tyrian were two White Fang soldiers. One of them removed Tyrion's coat while the sadistic White Fang agent took out a frightening looking chain device that looked like a weapon. Blake gasped, dreading what Tyrian had in store for her.
Everybody braced themselves for whatever terrible thing Tyrian had in store for Blake. Kali and Ghira's hands intertwined in concern for their daughter.
Blake swallowed, hoping Cinder's counterpart would at least try to intercede on her behalf.
Luckily, the chain was only a coat hanger, which Tyrian calmly hooked together, much to Cinder and Blake's relief.
Sighs of relief filled the theater as well as a few nervous laughs.
After hanging up his coat and handing it to a White Fang soldier, Tyrian sat down at the table. "Now...what shall we talk about?" he asked with a toothy smile.
"Besides how creepy you are," Jaune said, unnerved by the Tyrian's psychotic grin.
"Still not as creepy as his previous counterpart," Saphron stated as she shivered while remembering the last adaptation.
Back in the well of souls, Sun and Pietro carefully slipped wooden poles through the rings on the sides of the Ark to avoid touching it. Pietro nodded to Sun, signifying he was ready.
"What's with the wooden poles?" Velvet wondered aloud.
"It's a precaution. If the Ark truly is as powerful as the legends say, it would be wise to avoid touching it," Maria reminded.
The two men lifted the Ark out of the stone chest. It was otherworldly beautiful - a large, golden rectangular box, with two small sculptures of the Brother Gods mounted to face each other on top.
The audience gazed wide-eyed at the gorgeous golden Ark. A few even breathed out in captivation at its shining beauty.
"It's so beautiful," Saphron praised softly with her hands to her cheeks.
"Even if it didn't contain the four seasons, it would still be worth a fortune," Qrow noted, wondering how much such a box of gold plated wood would be worth.
"Absolutely. It makes the golden idol in the beginning look like a mere trinket," Taiyang said.
The two men slowly carried the Ark towards the chamber hole, careful to avoid the snakes kept at bay by the torches. Then, they set it down inside a wooden crate the workers had rappelled down to transport the Ark, which Sun then sealed up.
"All right... take it up! Easy!" Sun called up to the workers on the surface, who began to haul the Ark up by rope.
"Suck on that, Cinder," Sun said triumphantly.
"Don't get cocky, bro. You still have to get the Ark out of there," Neptune reminded his partner.
Back outside, just as the sun began to rise, Cinder, Adam, and Tyrian were walking through the dig site.
"You're as stubborn as that girl," Adam criticized Cinder. "You like her too much, I think."
Blake rolled her eyes. "The feeling isn't mutual," she said.
"Your methods of archeology are too primitive for me," Cinder shot back.
In the background, Sun and Pietro's workers were visible atop the ridge overlooking the dig site.
"Uh-oh," Ruby muttered, her eyes widening.
"Please don't spot, please don't spot them, please don't spot them," Yang whispered repeatedly.
"You would use a bulldozer to find a…" Cinder continued, her speech slowing as she spotted the diggers. "... china cup."
Cinder climbed atop a wooden crate to get a closer look at the diggers on the ridge. "Colonel! Wake your men!" she ordered.
Neptune threw his hands up. "Oh, come on!" he shouted in frustration.
"Why now of all times?!" Sun added angrily.
Back inside the well, the torches around Sun and Pietro were dying out. The snakes moved menacingly closer even as the two men waved torches at them.
"Sunny, the torches are burning out," Pietro informed warily.
Sun took Pietro's torch "Go on, get out of here," he instructed as he waved the torches at the snakes while Pietro clambered up the escape rope.
Back on the surface, dozens of armed White Fang soldiers had been roused from their slumber and were shouting and rushing towards the Well of Souls.
"If they hurry, they might get away with the Ark," Oscar said hopefully, even though he knew it was probably too late.
"I don't think so," Ozpin sighed with disappointment.
Pietro had just reached the chamber hole and pulled his legs out. Then, much to Sun's shock, the rope was cut and fell to the chamber floor.
Sun gazed up at the hole. "Pietro!" he called.
Cinder gazed back down at Sun from the hole. "Hello!" she called back while waving her hat.
Everybody groaned in anger and frustration that Cinder had once again swooped in to rob Sun of his prize. Sun himself gripped the armrests of his seat
Sun gazed up at his rival in bewilderment.
Back on the surface, Pietro and his diggers were on their knees with their hands behind their heads while Cinder and her White Fang associates stood around the chamber hole.
"He was so close," Ren said solemnly as he shook his head.
"I hate it when that happens! Just when victory is in your grasp, it slips out," Nora grumbled.
"Why, Dr. Wukong, whatever are you doing in such a nasty place?" Cinder asked mockingly.
"Why don't you come on down here? I'll show you!" Sun shouted up angrily.
"Thank you, my friend, but I think we are all very comfortable up here," Cinder replied.
"Are you sure? I think you'd get along just fine with all those snakes," Yang snarked, eliciting laughter from everyone else.
"Well, once in a while, you do come up with good jokes, don't you?" Weiss remarked as she sipped a glass of ice water.
"That's right, isn't it?" Cinder asked the assembled White Fang, who all nodded in response. "Yes, we are very comfortable up here."
Adam and Sienna chuckled and approached the edge of the hole to look down and smirk at the now trapped Sun.
"So, once again, Wukong, what was briefly yours is now mine," Cinder declared smugly.
"He can't let her get away again. Not this time," Velvet said angrily.
"Don't worry, bun bun. It's not over yet," Coco assured her partner.
"Coco's right. It's still a long way back to Mistral," Ruby agreed.
"What a fitting end to your life's pursuits. You're about to become a permanent addition to this archeological find. Who knows? In a thousand years, even you may be worth something," Cinder said mockingly.
"Bitch," Sun chuckled humorlessly at Cinders insult.
"I'm afraid we must be going now, Dr. Wukong. Our prize is awaited in Mistral," Adam informed Sun. "But I do not wish to leave you down in that awful place all alone."
Tyrian came forward while pushing Blake towards the chamber hole whilst Cinder stood up with a look of concern on her face.
"Slimy pig, you let me go! Stop it!" Blake protested as she struggled.
"Oh no!" Kali whispered, knowing what Tyrion planned to do with Blake.
Ignoring her protests, Tyrian shoved Blake down the hole into the Well of Souls.
"No!" Cinder cried out while Pietro looked down into the chamber out of worry for Blake.
Ruby, Yang, and Weiss all gasped as their teammate's counterpart was thrown into the perilous Well of Souls.
"Blake!" Kali cried as she reached out towards the screen.
"You bastard!" Ghira shouted.
"Blake!" Sun cried out as one of Blake's high-hells came loose and fell to the snake-covered floor.
Blake had managed to grab onto the teeth of one of the dragon statues, hanging on for dear life.
"Hang on! Don't fall!" Sun called up to Blake.
"Sunny!" Blake called back as the statue's teeth began to crack under her weight.
"Blake, I got you! I got you! I got you!" Sun shouted as he held his arms out.
"Catch her, Sun. Please..." Kali whispered fearfully.
The statues teeth snapped, sending Blake falling, bouncing off another statue, and landing into Sun's arms.
Kali and Ghira both exhaled in relief, grateful that Blake had Sun watching over her while Blake blushed a little to see her counterpart being held bridal style in Sun's arms.
"Nice catch, bro," Neptune complimented.
"I wish it was me," Velvet whispered, lowering her gaze bashfully.
"You traitor! You get your hands off me!" Blake shouted as she wrestled her way out of Sun's arms.
"Wait…what?!" Sun said in outrage.
"Well, you did leave me tied up in that tent," Blake retorted with a glare.
"To keep you safe. And the Ark out of Cinder's hands," Sun defended his counterpart's decision.
"It didn't matter. Cinder got wise to you anyway. Now settle down," Maria chided, silencing the two quarreling Faunus.
Blake fell out of Sun's arms and onto the ground, finding herself face to face with the cobra that Sun encountered earlier.
"Snakes!" Blake cried out in terror as she clambered onto Sun's back. "Oh, sh... oh, at your feet!"
"Oh, now you're eager to climb into my arms," Sun said with a grin while Blake pouted in response.
Cinder whirled on Adam. "The girl was mine!" she protested.
"She's of no use to us," Adam said ruthlessly. "Only our mission for Salem matters."
Cinder turned back to gaze sadly at Blake down in the chamber.
"I'm still amazed that Cinder of all people cares for someone else," Ruby remarked in surprise.
"You're right, sis. Even if it is an alternate version of her," Yang agreed as she sipped a soda.
"I wonder sometimes, ma'am, if you have that clearly in mind," Adam said doubtfully to Cinder as the latter looked down at Blake.
"It was not to be, my dear," Cinder apologized to Blake, having grown fond of the girl.
"You bastards! I'll get you for this!" Blake vowed while in Sun's arms.
"Even when she's about to be sealed in a dark, snake infested chamber, she's still talking smack," Qrow remarked, admiring Blake's defiant spirit.
"Yep. That's our girl," Ghira said proudly while Kali smiled and nodded.
"Sun Wukong...Goodbye," Cinder bid farewell to her rival with a wave of her hat.
Pietro's workers reluctantly shoved the stone slab back over the chamber hole.
"No!" Blake cried out as the chamber went dark, only barely illuminated by the barely lit torches.
Cinder and Pietro both shut their eyes solemnly as Blake's cry was abruptly cut off by the Well of Souls being sealed once again.
"Well, that's just wonderful," Taiyang groused. "What are they going to do now?"
"Don't despair yet. Sun's gotten out of messes like this before," Neptune said as he reminisced about the Hovito temple.
Back down in the chamber, one of the torches had just gone out from the lack of oxygen. Sun and Blake stared warily as the mass of hissing snakes began to tighten around them.
Sun handed Blake a torch. "Take this. Wave it at anything that slithers," he instructed.
"Thank you. Oh, my Oum, this whole place is slithering!" Blake said frantically as she and sun waved their torches at the snakes.
Blake noticed the bullwhip hanging from Sun's belt. "Sunny!" she said as she poked his side with the torch, thinking it was a snake.
Sun jumped from the burning torch. "Ow! Monty!" he scolded Blake.
"Hey, watch it!" Sun protested.
"She thought it was a snake," Blake defended her counterpart.
"Where did you get this? From her?" Sun inquired about Blake's white dress.
"I was trying to escape. No thanks to you," Blake replied angrily.
"How hard were you trying?" Sun growled.
"Well, where the hell were you?!" Blake shot back.
Coco giggled. "They're like an old married couple," she observed with amusement.
"That's nothing compared to the arguments my parents had," Weiss said sadly, never forgetting her father's heartless confession to her mother on Weiss' tenth birthday.
Blake narrowly missed hitting Sun with her torch by mistake.
"Watch it, watch it!" Sun said as he knelt and ripped off a section of Blake's dress.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing?!" Ghira shouted furiously.
"Not the time for that, bro," Neptune scolded his partner.
"I... I'm sure he has a reason," Sun said nervously. "Maybe it's fuel for the torch."
"What are you doing?!" Blake shouted indignantly as Sun tore fabric from her dress.
"For the fire!" Sun replied, needing fuel for his extinguishing torch.
Sun held his hand up at the screen. "There. You see," he said quickly.
"It's a shame. That was a nice dress," Coco lamented, always feeling angry or upset when her own outfits were damaged.
"How the hell are we going to get out of here?" Blake asked, knowing the torches wouldn't last forever.
"I'm working on it! I'm working on it!" Sun replied as he scanned the chamber.
"Well, whatever you're doing, do it faster!" Blake said on the edge of panic.
"What about using his whip to climb back up to the chamber hole?" Ruby suggested.
Qrow shook his head. "No good, kiddo. Even if he can reach it, the slab will be too heavy to move," he countered.
"Those snakes must have gotten in there somehow. That's their only chance of escape," Maria noted as she sipped a cup of tea.
On the far side of the chamber, Sun spotted a wall with several small holes that the snakes were slithering out of.
"Ah..." Sun's face brightened as he got an idea.
"I was right. Now they've got a way to escape," Maria said with a smile.
"He better make it fast, or he and Blake are snake food," Saphron said.
Sun approached the nearest, towering, dragon statue.
"Where are you going?" Blake asked.
"Through that wall," Sun said as he pointed to the wall the snakes emerged from. "Just get ready to run, whatever happens to me."
"What do you mean by that?" Blake asked nervously as Sun began to climb up the statue.
"He's going to topple the statue?" Velvet said.
"That's dangerous. What if it causes the whole chamber to cave in," Weiss cautioned.
"Well, he doesn't have any other options," Blake said, hoping Sun's plan would work.
Blake kept waving her torch at the snakes while Sun took out his bullwhip and struck it around the lower jaws of the statue he was climbing.
"Sunny! Damn it! Don't you leave me down here by myself!" Blake protested as she barely kept the snakes at bay.
Sunny rappelled up the bullwhip with his torch clenched between his teeth. He had nearly reached the top when he came face to face with a snake resting in the statues mouth. Thinking quickly, Sun turned his head to knock the snake down with his torch. The snake fell onto Blake's head, much to her annoyance as she glared up at Sun.
"Thanks Sun," Blake said sarcastically.
"It was an accident," Sun replied defensively.
Sun spat out his extinguished torch, which landed in Blake's free hand. The snakes had nearly closed the circle around Blake as she climbed onto the statues stone feet.
Above Blake, Sun reached the top of the statue and braced himself against the ceiling. He pushed against the statue with all his might, dislodging it.
"Here we go! Get ready!" Sun called down to Blake.
"Sunny, the torch is going out!" Blake shouted frantically as she stood atop the statues foot.
Finally, the aging statue cracked and began to fall with Sun riding atop it. With a great crash, it smashed through the holed wall, revealing a hidden chamber with what looked like sarcophagi stored inside.
"What a smashing way to escape certain death," Taiyang joked with a cheeky grin.
"Knock it off, Taiyang," Qrow scolded among the groans from the rest of the audience.
Blake retrieved the shoe she lost as she climbed over the wrecked wall and stumbled into the dark chamber it was concealing. Sun was nowhere to be seen.
Blake stumbled over to the far wall of the chamber. "Sunny?" she called out.
Suddenly, the wall gave way, revealing it was actually a dried, half-decayed corpse covered with dust.
Half the audience jumped in their seats while the other half recoiled in surprise and disgust at the skeleton.
"Eek!" Ruby, Velvet, Weiss, and Saphron all squeaked with fright.
Blake gasped and shuddered as she threw the body away. She backed against the wall, then turned to see another body standing upright in an open sarcophagus.
Recoiling in fear, Blake bumped into another corpse, causing an entire group of them to fall onto her in such a manner that they looked as though they were grasping at her. It even sounded as though they were screeching and moaning.
"Oh, my Oum! They're alive!" Ruby cried as she hugged Yang for comfort.
"Zombies!" Nora added as she clung tightly to Ren.
"Calm down, everyone! It's just Blake's imagination," Maria assured, hoping she was correct and the shrieks were all in Blake's mind (3).
Blake gasped in fear as she tried to scramble away from the corpses until she came face to face with one that had a large python slithering out of its mouth. It was too much as Blake lost her composure and shrieked in horror.
Everyone winced in discomfort at Blake's ear-piercing scream. Ruby, Velvet, and Saprhon even screamed in terror themselves.
"Where did all those skeletons even come from?!" Nora asked in a shaky voice.
"They might have taken refuge during the great sandstorm and simply died of hunger or thirst," Ren assumed, remembering the story of the Ark earlier.
Ren's theory sent a wave of unease over the audience. Just the thought of being trapped in a dark chamber to die a slow death was terrifying.
Just then, Sun reappeared from a nearby corridor. "Blake!" he said as he took her by the hand.
Sun led Blake away from the corpses down the corridor.
"Look. Look," Sun said, pointing at the end of the hallway.
Atop a pile of rubble at the end of the corridor was a fist sized hole with sunlight peeking out. Sun climbed up towards it.
"Ah, so there was another way in all along," Maria said, knowing the snakes must have gotten in somehow.
"Lucky for Sun and Blake," Oscar added.
"Let's hope they can stop the bad guys before they escape with the Ark," Saphron said.
(1)- I think Toht deliberately used that chain-link coat hanger just to freak Marion out. It's definitely something Tyrion would do as well.
(2)- I don't know whether or not Taiyang knows Yang drinks, but seeing as she's underage, I don't think he'd be happy.
(3)- As a kid, I found the skeletons as frightening as the ending scene in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". I hope those shrieks and groans were all in Marion's panicked mind.
