Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 2 of Tortured. I want to thank those who have left reviews for this story. It truly does mean a lot to me that you guys are enjoying this story among others that I have written so far. We last left our crew in Singapore to meet Sao Feng. I can't wait to show you guys what happens in this next part. Will Rose be alright in front of Sao Feng? Without further ado Chapter 2. ENJOY!

Chapter 2

Rose slowly walked with Barbossa feeling slightly self-conscious in the short robe that she had been given, but she needed to hold her head up high. She bit her lower lip as they followed a pirate with a dragon tattoo on his back. She looked around and noticed most of them had the same type of dragon tattoo on their bodies.

Sao Feng turned his attention to the two in his presence.

"Captain Sao Feng. Thank you for granting me this audience."

"Captain Barbossa. Welcome to Singapore." Sao Feng turned his attention to the guard for a moment. "More steam." He moved his face over a vent waving the steam into his face. "I understand that you have a request to make of me?"

"And a proposal to make to you. I've a venture underway, and I find myself in need of a ship and a crew."

"And you consider me worthy of such an honor? A ship and crew…" He let out a soft chuckle. "Huh. That's an odd coincidence."

Rose blinked a few times moving slightly forward. "Because you happen to have a ship and a crew you don't need?"

Barbossa looked at her, giving her a warning glance.

"No." Sao Feng said with a shake of his head. "Because earlier this day, not far from here, a thief broke into my most revere's uncle's temple, and tried to make off with these." He tried to take an old chart from an old man who didn't want to release it too easily. He gave him a look and the man released the charts. "Navigational charts. The route to the Farthest Gate."

Barbossa's smile falters a little bit.

"Wouldn't it be amazing if this venture of yours took you to the world beyond this one?"

"It would strain credulity, at that."

Sao Feng gazed at him for a moment before nodding his head to the two guards near one of the baths.

The guards hauled a figure out of a tank and it was Will.

Will sputtered for breath.

Sao Feng grabbed him by the hair displaying his face to Rose and Barbossa. "This is the thief. Is his face familiar to you?"

Rose remained silent as Barbossa kept his cool.

Sao Feng studied the two of them for a moment before shrugging his shoulders and picking up a huge fid. "No? Then I guess he has no further need for it." He was prepared to stab will.

Rose stiffened a little bit.

"You come into my city, you seek my indulgence and largesse, and you betray my hospitality? You betray me?"

"Sao Feng, I assure you, I had no idea…"

"That he would get caught."

Barbossa shrugged his shoulders.

"You intended to attempt a voyage to Davy Jones' Locker. And I cannot help but wonder why?"

Barbossa tossed him one of the pieces of eight which was silver.

Sao Feng examined it for a moment. "A piece of eight." He looked up at Barbossa. "It's true, then?"

"Aye. The time is upon us. We must convene the Brethren Court."

Sao Feng banged twice on the wall. "More steam!" He leaned over the vent again breathing in the steam. "The Court has not met in my lifetime."

"Nor mine."

Sao Feng toyed with a Captain's knot pendant at his neck. "And when last it did, my father told me, it ended… badly."

"But the time before that, it produced the Code, which has served us well. And it was the very first meeting what gave us no less than the rule of the sea herself, didn't it? And now that rule is being challenged."

"The East India Trading Company."

Barbossa nodded his head. "Lord Cutler Beckett is a pox on us all."

Rose shifted nervously. "More than a pox, he's a plague that will take anything down in his path to give him rule over everything and everyone." Rose thought to herself.

"There is a price on all our heads, it is true. It seems the only way a pirate can turn a profit anymore… is by betraying other pirates. But pirates are either Captain or crew, and nine squabbling captains trying to chart a course is eight captains too many. Against the company, what value is the Brethren Court? What can any of us do?"

Rose moved forward gripping her hand to her chest. "You can fight." She moved more forward towards Sao Feng. "You are Sao Feng, the Pirate Lord of Singapore. You command in the Age of Piracy, where bold Captains sail free waters, where waves are not measured in feet but increments of fear, and those who pass the test become legend."

The man that had led them to Sao Feng put his hand on her shoulder only to have her shrug it forcefully off.

"Would you have that era come to an end on your watch? But here you are, your ships crowd the harbor, rotting on their lines, while you cower in your bath water."

Sao Feng circled around her, taking in every inch of the young woman that was bold enough to stand before him. "Rose Swann. There is more to you than meets the eye, isn't there? And the eye does not go wanting." He smiled at her charmingly.

Rose couldn't help but to smile back slowly at Sao Feng.

"But I can't help but notice you have failed to answer my question. What is it you seek in Davy Jones' Locker?"

"Jack Sparrow." Will said firmly.

Sao Feng froze and the room went silent.

"He's one of the pirate lords."

Sao Feng glared at one of the twin girls that began to giggle before trying to compose himself. "The only reason I would want Jack Sparrow returned from the realm of the dead is so I can send him back myself."

"Exactly why we preferred his name go unmentioned."

"So you admit you have deceived me."

"Jack Sparrow holds one of the Nine Pieces of Eight! He failed to pass it along to a successor before he died. And so we must go and fetch him back."

Sao Feng caught Huang's eyes and directed him towards Steng. "Weapons!"

The bath house was suddenly filled with both men and women holding weapons.

Rose looked around not liking that they were outnumbered with weapons all around them.

Barbossa held his hands up trying to ease the tension. "I assure you our intentions are strictly honorable." He spread his hands wide and two swords came to his hands.

Rose had two swords as well. She quickly tossed one to Will.

Sao Feng held the point of the fid to Steng's face. "Drop your weapons, or I kill your man."

Barbossa frowned before looking at Will and then to Rose and then to Sao Feng. He shrugged his shoulders. "Kill him. He's not our man."

"If he's not with you, and not with us… Who is he with." Will said confused before the East India Trading Company men stormed in crashing through the windows.

"Well there's our answer." Rose said, letting out a breath.

Will grabbed another sword from below and made his way towards the battle.

Rose blocked an attack from one of the men huffing in irritation. "We have to get out of here. We're no go at the gallows." She said as she blocked another attack on her jumping back trying to make sure that they would be able to make their getaway.

They began to make their way back towards the ships to try to escape the area. They couldn't go down to the East India Trading Company. That was the one thing that they weren't going to do; they needed to get Jack back and try to save the waters from the East India Trading Company.
