Chapter 8

Rose stood at the rail looking out blankly at the sea. Her hands gripping onto the rail in defeat. She knew that Elizabeth wasn't doing any better than what she was. She knew that it was going to boil over soon if they don't get out of the locker soon. She had a feeling that people would start going at each other's throats and not have a care in the world.

"If we can not escape these doldrums before night, I fear we will sail on trackless seas, under starless skies, doomed to roam the reach between worlds ... forever."

"With no water, forever looks to be arriving a mite soon." Gibbs said with a shake of his head.

Rose took a breath as she moved away from the rail. She slowly walked up to where Barbossa and Jack were. Jack looking over the map that they had.

Will came up behind her slowly. "Why doesn't he do something?"

Rose looked at the map letting out a breath. "It's in riddles Will." She said softly. "It takes time to figure it out."

Will looked at the map reading it. "Over the edge, back, over again, sunrise sets, flash of green."

"There's no sense to it. Sunrises don't set." Gibbs said shaking his head.

"And the green flash happens at sunset, not sunrise."

"Over the edge ... driving me bloody well over the edge."

"Maybe it is an answer in what it is saying?" Rose questioned as she crossed her arms not paying much attention to Jack. She looked away from the map for a moment thinking. Over the edge back and over again. It didn't make much sense to her. She let out a huff as she moved down the stairs thinking. With everything that they had been through so far. They needed something easy to get them back home.

"Not sun-set. Sun-down. And rise ... up!" Jack stood up and pointed. "Over there! What's that? I don't know! What do you think?"

Rose blinked a few times.

"Where?" Gibbs questioned moving to where his Captain was.

Jack moved over the railing at followed suit causing the ship to tilt a little that way. Jack turned going to the starboard side. "There, it moved! Suddenly. It's very fast."

"Did he lose his mind?" Rose thought to herself. There was no way that Jack who was whitty could lose his mind, but being in the locker could drive anyone to madness.

Jack suddenly seen something back on the port side moving quickly. "Thar! Over thar!"

Rose followed this time to the rail to look. The ship rocked back to the port side.

"What is it?" Elizabeth questioned looking at Jack.

"It's not here!" He ran across again causing everyone to follow.

"He's rocking the ship." Pintel said as he followed the captain.

"We're rocking the ship!" Gibbs said running following his captain.

"Aye, he's onto it. All hands together! Time it with the swell!" Barbossa said moving back to the hold. "Loose the cannon! Unstow the cargo! Let it shift!"

The crew did as told cutting loose the cannons and everything else that they could use as momentum to change their standings.

Will got to the rail as the ship tilts near horizontal looking out seeing the sun sinking into the sea.

The ship tilted the other way.

"And now up, is down!"

The Pearl rocked completely over into the water. Waves filled the sails causing the ship to roll even more.

Rose held onto the rail like Jack, Will, Elizabeth and Barbossa did.

Gibbs lost his grip and Marty grabbed him.

Pintel and Ragetti tied to the mast looked at one another holding their breaths.

Will grabbed the charts as they floated by.

The water fell with a giant spash objects falling, people, and a parrot all fall slamming onto the deck.

Rose pushed her hair back letting out a shaky breath.

Gibbs took a breath after his cheeks turned red. "Blessed sweet Westerlies! We're back!" He lifted his wet finger up.

Jack opened his fist to look at it forcefully seeing no black spot.

Elizabeth gazed out at the horizon. "It's a sunrise."

Will looked out seeing the sun rising.

Suddenly everybody instantly drew their pistols at once and pointed at one another. Will at Barbossa, Barbossa at Jack, Gibbs at Barbossa, Elizabeth at Jack, Rose at Barbossa. Barbossa pulled a second pistol pointing it at Gibbs.

Everyone laughed lowering their pistols before the laughter stopped and pistols coming back up.

"All right, then. The Brethren Court is a-gathering at Shipwreck Cove. Jack, you and I be going there, and there's no arguing the point." Barbossa said pointedly at Jack.

"I is arguing the point. If there's pirates a-gathering, I'm a-pointing my ship the other a-way."

Rose rolled her eyes. "The pirates are gathering to fight Beckett. And you're a pirate." She said swinging her pistol from Barbossa to Jack.

Jack moved his pistol from Will aiming it at Rose.

Will moved his pistol from Barbossa before pulling a second pistol out to point it at Barbossa. "Fight or not, you're not running."

"If we don't stand together, they'll hunt us down, one by one, 'til there's none left but you." Barbossa snapped at Jack.

"Then I'll be the last pirate. At least then there will be only one of me."

"Aye, and you'll be fighting Jones alone. How does that figure into your plans?"

"Still working on it. But I'm not going back to the Locker, Barbossa. Count on that." Jack fired his pistol and it only clicked.

There were more clicks as the others tried to fire their guns.

"Wet powder." Gibbs grumbled out.

"We've other issues to deal with. We can get back to shooting each other later." Will said moving away.

Rose shook her head. "You have a point there." She said moving away as well.
