Hello my lovely readers and welcome to another fic and yes as you guessed from the summary, this will have RWBY reacting to the For Honor world. What better way to show them how grey the world is than a war torn world with no heroes, just people going by their morals and ideals? And please remember I like to write purely for entertainment and any jokes are not to be taken seriously. Anyway, please as always enjoy and feel free to leave a review about your thoughts. Helps me improve and give you what you want so let's get into it.
Just a disclaimer by the way but no I don't own RWBY or For Honor, I'd have no clue what to do if I did.
When Ruby woke up she didn't know what to think as she struggled a little before standing up, holding onto the wall for support as her legs shook, she tried to have her aura heal herself but couldn't feel it at all. She quickly tossed away that thought as she looked in awe at the room. It was reminiscent of a home theater with red velvet chairs with marble and gold columns along the walls.
She stopped admiring the place when she heard a grain and quickly went to the source, finding her best friend and partner, Weiss Schnee. Weiss groaned and accepted Ruby's hand as she shakily stood up and held onto her partner as she looked around. "Thank you Ruby, but where are we?"
That was the million lien question now wasn't it? Her silver eyes looked around the room again and found the black and yellow duo of Blake Belladonna and her sister Yang Xiao-Long. She also spotted professors Port and Oobleck as well as Miss Goodwitch and the Headmaster, Ozpin along with their sister team, team JNPR. Next to them were team CVFY and Penny Polendina who was helping an old dark toned man wake up in one of the most awesome chairs Ruby had ever seen. Beside them were her dad, Taiyang Xiao-Long and the famous drunkle himself, Qrow.
Next to start waking from their slumber was a woman who looked like an older version of Weiss and General Ironwood of the Atlas military. There was a small boy, probably a few years younger than Ruby dressed in green pants with a white shirt and orange straps over his shirt. And there was a gray haired boy with a gray outfit next a dark toned girl with emerald hair next to woman with dark hair and wearing a red dress. Next to them was a woman in red and black with a grimm mask who looked like Yang but with black hair.
And then Ruby's eyes landed on, "Torchwick?!" She cried out and the others jumped awake but before anyone could do anything a cranky old voice knocked them out of it, "Can't young people be quieter these days?" said a dark toned woman who was on the short side with a skull cane and the most advanced eye prosthetics any of them had seen.
"Maria! He said we weren't supposed to come out yet!" Called out a gentle voice as another woman came in from behind the stage, one some knew all too well. "Sum?" Taiyang's voice called out as the woman turned to him and a few tears rolled down both of their cheeks. "Hey there Tai." She said back before they embraced each other happily.
Quite quickly afterwards a red ball crashed into them as Ruby hugged her mother after so long, "Mommy!" She cried happily as Yang and Qrow joined in the group hug as others watched with fondness, the only ones who did not were Raven, Mercury, Emerald, and Cinder.
"Did you really have to chase after her Summer?" Asked a very dark and cold voice and those of Cinder's group and Ozpin recognized that voice. Next to come out from behind the stage was a woman in a black dress, her skin was deathly white with black veins along her arms and neck while her face held a genuine smile and her red eyes over black sclera held a fondness at the scene.
Behind the woman who appeared Grimm incarnate was a woman with gold hair similar to Glynda's in a pixie style cut. She had jewel green eyes and a noticeable scar across her left cheek. She wore a golden chestpiece with padding and had golden pauldrons, one of which connected all the way down her arm in segments with a grey scale pattern covering underneath while the other went along her bicep and had a bracer on her forearm. She also wore a subligaculum loin cloth with golden waist protection over purple cloth while a flap protected her back left thigh. And to finish it all off she wore more golden shin armor over cloth and linen sandals.
The woman next to her looked fairly wild, like a beast as her eyes darted around and she twitched every so often and seemed to speak to herself quietly. Her hair was a milky white and tied up with some bones as hairpins. She had blue paint all around her eyes and in curves along her neck and face. She wore cloth and leather dyed in blue patterns and held a small shield on her back with an embossing of a rune along it's face. She wore leather gloves and her arms were also covered in tattoos, runes in an odd language, and more blue paint in patterns. Her belt had many odd objects hanging from it as well.
Ozpin tore his attention away from those two and looked directly at his immortal enemy and ex wife. "Salem." "Ozpin." She greeted back whiel Ironwood got up and reached for his gun only to not have it.
"I'm afraid I can't let you do that General." Said a rather powerful voice as golden flames descended onto the stage next to Salem and out of them came a man in his twenties with golden hair and eyes. He was dressed in silver pants and a golden silk shirt as some golden flames danced around his skin occasionally.
Ozpin couldn't recall such an individual at all and slowly walked forward. "If I may mister?" "Just call me Golden or Spark Ozma." Ozpin flinched at the mention of his old name before getting back on topic. "Yes well, Mister Spark. Am I to assume you brought us here?" "You assume correct Oz. I brought you, all of you specifically to see a different world. One torn from war and filled with hate and grief the likes Remnant has never seen."
Oobleck and Port were obviously excited to see such a thing while the students felt a little saddened by the description. "The same world Furora and Skuld here are from."
All the occupants who hadn't already met the two looked at them looked at them in shock while Raven and Cinder planned to bring the two to them and Ozpin looked at them in intrigue.
Torchwick just sighed and took out a cigar which spontaneously lit as he sat down, "So the fidget kid and the scarred golden girl?" As soon as he said that both women glared at him as golden flames came out of Furora's skin and Skuld knelt down and bared her teeth like an animal. "You had best take that back. You think you have had it bad in life you pompous shitlord? I have seen and done things far worse than you. Next time you pick someone to insult check it is not someone who has no hesitation in spilling your blood."
The room gradually calmed down as the two women stopped their intimidation of the crooked thief. Many however did have their curiosity on what she was talking about but they were silenced by Spark speaking again. "Heed their advice and do not insult them as you will find out why later on. For now, I would like to say welcome and please do not start any fights. I welcome all under this roof, no matter what they have done as the world is never as black and white as it seems."
That thought gave them all pause, many of the adults already knew this but the students did not. They still assumed if a person did bad things it was for a bad reason and they were a bad person.
Seeing their doubts Spark nodded and held out a hand to the seats as many started to sit down. Raven sat in the back row while Mercury, Emerald, and Cinder sat a few seats away from her with Roman and Neo being stuck inbetween. The teachers and second years took up the second row and finally the two first year teams took up the first row with Summer and Tai and curiously Salem, who sat near Summer. Many were curious as to how that happened.
Furora and Skuld were near the front row, Furora leaning against a column and Skuld sat upon the ground. Spark nodded his head and once again spoke. "I must warn you. This world is brutal. There is no aura, no grimm, no dust, and no faunus. Just humans." Blake and Velvet flt saddened there was no faunus while Ruby looked confused. "But if there's no grimm or faunus, why is it so brutal, wouldn't people get along more?"
Spark shook his head and turned to the large cinema screen as he dissolved in golden flames and reappeared behind the back row as the screen came to life.
The screen slowly brightened to show a peaceful wheat field with rising sun in the background through the wheat.
Seeing this, many in the audience enjoyed the peaceful scene while Oscar sighed happily. "Reminds me of home." He said in a whistful tone of voice.
The camera eventually moved out to show the rest of the farm which looked very old and showed a large castle perched on a hill far in the background.
Pietro leaned forward and coughed a little. "Is there no technology?" He asked curiously. "No. This was 1,000 years ago after all." Furora explained and he nodded but no one noticed her grimace.
"There were no signs." A woman's voice spoke out as birds flew quickly as a large thrum coursed out through the land.
"That sounds similar to an earthquake." Penny said as she pulled knowledge from her database and others paled, knowing the destruction an earthquake could cause.
"Who's speaking though?" Blake asked in curiosity while Furora, Skuld, and Spark all pulled a frown that the adults noticed.
"It came without warning." The woman said once more as a more powerful thrum echoed out and the ground shook while clouds gathered and darkened with the echo of thunder. The screen panned out further and showed as the land cracked and broke apart rapidly.
Many of the watchers looked on in fear aside from Cinder and Mercury, who simply didn't care. "What the hell is happening?!" Yang cried out and no one scolded her as they themselves felt the same.
The ground continued to crack as the screen changed to the courtyard of the castle as brick and stone tore and broke apart. Many of the men were dressed as knights and ran and stumbled in horror, two of them being risen up on a section and one fell off as the other had tried to grab his friend.
"Oh my Oum!" Ruby cried and hugged her mother as the adults watched at the men powerless to stop their destruction. Everyone couldn't help but acknowledge the world itself was far more destructive than anything else. "What could have caused this?" Oobleck asked as he watched in slight terror.
The castle continued to be torn apart as the scene showed the surrounding hills being separated in many directions as buildings were destroyed rapidly. The clouds grew worse and soon it started to storm as lighting struck the ground rapidly and the land broke even more. The scene changed to inside the well as blacked sludge and muddy water burst forward and shot all over the courtyard.
"That is repulsive." Both Winter and Weiss said while many agreed with them as Pietro rubbed his head and tried to rationalize how this happened in the first place.
"Why would this happen?" Glynda asked silently as Ozpin hummed and took a sip of his coffee, where did he get his mug from?
The men screamed in horror and one curled up on the ground as the scene changed to between two cliffs, one with the castle on it and moving forward as rocks fell till a round tower section fell and the screen turned black. "Doom came to us all." The woman said as the scene opened to show the castle completely destroyed with fire raging at sections and dead bodies scatter all over.
"Gods…" Ozpin breathed out looking at the destruction. He had fought in the Great War and saw some catastrophes but none like this. "All those poor people." Ruby said and wiped some tears as she looked at the scene.
"What caused this?" Pietro asked and everyone looked to Spark as he hung his head. "It was called the Great Cataclysm. A combination of all the world's greatest natural disasters destroyed the world all at once. Fire burned, ground shook, acid and lighting rained daily. It eventually ended but the world was no longer the same. Some say the gods were angry, others say it's karma and others say it was just bad luck."
Qrow felt a little responsible almost as some blamed bad luck while the others mulled over the information and Ozpin looked to Spark. "You say the gods may have done this?" "Of course Ozma. Many religions dotted the world and all those gods were not benevolent, even gods hailed for such wouldn't hesitate to kill mortals if inconvenienced."
Ozpin shook a little and nodded while Salem nodded wholeheartedly knowing how evil the gods could be.
The first years were crying softly along with Velvet as others comforted them or they embraced each other. Eventually Raven looked down to Furora and Skuld in respect.
The scene changed to show a destroyed Shinto gate with broken pillars leading to a large palace on a hill with fire and smoking covering much of the lower section.
"Reminds me of many of the old structures in Mistral." Oobleck commented and those from Mistral nodded, having seen at least one before while traveling or for school.
The scene then changed once more to show a large dry seabed with destroyed boats and more dead bodies as lave flowed like a river through a destroyed settlement on a hill.
"Oh my…" Blake said and gently held onto Yang as everyone looked at the destruction that had been brought to the world two people just a few feet away lived in.
"The desperate few, struggled to survive." The woman continued as a man in basic leather clothing staggered forward, a helm with broken horns on his head as he fell to his knees in front of a small puddle of water and eagerly began to drink.
"I'm glad some survived." Ruby said earnestly while Furora grimaced, knowing something bad would happen soon and Ozpin looked at her reaction before narrowing his eyes.
"It must be hell for them." Coco said as they watched on.
Footsteps picked up behind the man before he quickly held out his axe and shield and caught a sword under his axe head before a kick to his shield knocked him away. The other man was dress in a cloth hakama with basic wooden armor over his chest, right arm, and his shins. He also wore tabi shoes and kabuto helm. He then held out his nodachi and drew a line on the other side of the water, claiming it as his own.
"No no no no.! Why can't they just share?" Ruby asked out in despair seeing the two fight over the small pool of water.
"Human greed and desperation." Spark called out with the villains nodding in understanding. "Humans are desperate creatures that will do anything to survive. And it shows here."
The two faced off before a broadsword fell into the ground, both warriors looking over to see it and then the woman who owned it. She stood on the destroyed bridge, dressed in half plate armor and cloth as she jumped down and landed. Her chainmail was torn and her hardened gambeson looked dirty and worn down as she stood and pulled up her sword.
"This here is the predecessor to the Wardens. A group of knights you'll see later on." Spark commented as Jaune looked at the woman in admiration, that was what he aspired to be. A true knight.
The three began to circle each other before gradually putting away their weapons and resting for once. "Perhaps we had a chance for peace." The Viking slowly glanced down at the water. "But desperation and trust are seldom allies." The warrior roared out and charged forward, ducking under a swing from the Samurai and deflecting a blow from the Knight and retaliating with a swing towards the Samurai, who blocked it.
"They all have impressive skills, a shame they must be used like this." Winter said, seeing how they wasted no movement or hesitated, though whether the hesitation was gone from conditioning or desperation was another story.
Ironwood then looked to the two apparent denizens of that world. Skuld was busy checking her pouches and pulled out what looked like a human finger?! He calmed down and shook his head, that'd be ridiculous, what kind of person carried around human fingers?
He then looked at Furora, who was drinking down something from a flask. Great, another drunkard, as if Qrow wasn't bad enough.
The knight turned with the parry and swung again as the samurai struck her shin before turning and kneeing the Viking in the face to cut off his attack. "So began a millennia of conflict." The woman stated as the samurai was hit with a pommel and the Viking swung his axe as it changed to a large dane axe and all of their weapons and clothes had now changed.
"A thousand years of war!" The adults screamed out in surprise but didn't seemed to be surprised by the change, chalking it up to the time changing.
This time Skuld was the one who spoke, but did so in a raspy voice and twitched once more. "War always…much blood…m-much d-d-death." She spoke with difficulty and Furora nodded as she spoke as well, "The more death occurs, the more hatred spreads and eventually everyone will fight."
The room had a rather morbid atmosphere now while some of those with medical knowledge like Pietro, Glynda, Ozpin, Winter, and Ironwood looked at Skuld as her head twitched a few times. They'd ask about that afterwards.
The camera continued to span out as the world became restored from a barren wasteland to a lush field with warriors fighting all over the area. The samurai now sported a larger kabuto with a crest and lacquered armor under an overcoat with massive sode on his shoulders and his nodachi looked longer and more detailed. "Athousand years of war." He slashed a knight across the belly before parrying another easily and delivering the blade down into the man's face as he turned and thrusted the nodachi through another's chest, blood flying out. He then pulled it out and pommel striked a charging knight.
Those not accustomed to the sight of blood freaked out a good bit when they saw the man's blood fly out, two in particular being Ruby and Jaune vomited into buckets that appeared for them. They wiped their mouths clean as Summer and Phyrra respectively rubbed their backs.
"This man is most impressive." Yatsuhashi complimented the man's swordsmanship as others nodded in agreement. "I thought you might like the samurai Yatsu." Spark said before the screen resumed.
The screen cut to the knightess, now in even more half plate, nearly covering her entire body and having actual arm protection as she pushed the hilt of her blade in a man's face before wrenching it free and bonking him on the back of the head with the pommel as she stared off across the battlefield.
Many of them were surprised by the brutal method in which the knight in shining armor killed the man. "A rather efficient way to do so." Ironwood stated and some unfortunately couldn't help but agree.
The scene then changed as the viking's axe banged against a shield, pushing them away as he caught a knight's sword on his shaft before spinning around and tripping someone by hitting their foot. He wore no shirt and instead had some extreme muscles under straps along with a larger helm and horns, his beard and hair were longer and braided.
"What kind of workout regimen does he have?" Yang and Taiyang asked seeing the new muscles on the man while Spark chuckled. "Just wait and you'll eventually see."
The knightess walked forward as another Viking rushed with a warcry only for his swing to be ducked under as she stabbed him through the stomach and lifted his body to the side, letting it off as another charged and she deflected his axe.
It cut back to the samurai suddenly as he spinned away from a knight's slash and bent on one knee as his sword cleanly sliced through the man's shin, cutting it clean off.
This time all of the first years threw up seeing the bloody appendage while the second year team held theirs in but held onto each other. Raven nodded and applauded the man's skill and strength while Cinder wondered if there were any who'd work for her, if her Mistress approved of course.
"Must they be so brutal?" Winter asked coldly as a few golden flames danced along Furora's arm before she calmed down and sighed. "You tend to not care in the heat of battle, you just want to live." The villains all nodded though Cinder and her lackey's were more subtle.
"The greatest warriors the world has ever known." The knightess held her sword against the back of a viking's neck before spinning and the sword cleanly curved with her and cut her foe's neck as they fell down slowly. The Viking flipped a man over his shoulder as another charged him, missing and having his chest split by an axe as the Viking raised it overhead and delivered it into the chest of the one he flipped.
"They really don't hold back huh?" Mercury asked a little impressed by their skills but he didn't show it while Spark shook his head in agreement. "Some more than others."
The Viking wrenched his axe free and backed up before turning to see the other two from before. "The reason they fight lost to the ages." The three began to circle each other, none knowing the stood where their ancestors had fought as they looked down to the ever growing corpses surrounding them, one even in the puddle from before but now his blood stained it.
The first year teams were deeply saddened by this as they watched the warriors finally see the death they had wrought. "Did they truly not realize how much death happened?" Ren asked as he gently rubbed Nora's back. "No. Survival was all they sought." Spark then smiled, "A great man in a war once said that eventually everyone pushes hard enough to see the world beyond the battlefield."
"Truly a wise man." Ironwood commented as he saluted to all those there dead on the battlefield, Winter doing the same.
"And yet…" The woman continued with a sinister tone as an armored hand grasping an arrow pushed apart some thicket and brambles. "…here they still stand." The three warriors continued to circle each other before finally lowering their weapons as they looked upon the corpses. "Searching for a sign of peace."
"I don't like where this woman is going with this…" Phyrra said as Jaune looked at the screen and nodded, having a faint idea what might happen while Penny looked concerned. "Does she have a problem with peace?" She asked innocently while Raven scoffed at the child's innocence.
"I will show them." She said coldly as the Viking backed up more, the samurai bowing and the knightess resting on her sword. All was well before an arrow sailed through the air and struck the Raider in the shoulder. He grunted and pulled it out, recognizing it as a knight's arrow he gripped his axe and charged again.
"Who would do that?! There was a chance for peace!" Ruby cried out and teared up again while Summer hugged her daughter and Salem watched them, feeling slightly jealous. "Whoever did it is gonna get pounded!" Yang said as she punched her fists together while Spark snorted to himself and laughed silently.
"I am Apllyon." The woman declared as the view showed a knight with a bow and a dark figure watching the fight as the archer nodded and walked off. The camera slowly revolved around the woman, letting them see her dark black armor with three spikes on the shoulder before it showed her helmet which looked terrifying with the hollow eye holes and rusted scar across one eye. "I bring war." She declared as the viewing ended.
"And that concludes our first viewing. Any thoughts?" And just like that was assaulted with questions before Furora screamed out. "Can you all shut up?!" She yelled, her body alight with gold and orange flames before they dissipated and she took a long swig from her flask.
"Right. I apologize Furora. I forgot about that." He said and she ignored him as she drank some more before he sighed and sat on the stage. "Right. Now with that out of the way who would like to ask first?" Oobleck instantly had a hand up like an eager student and he took a sip from his thermos, "Obviously my first question is who is that woman we saw?"
"That…was Apollyon. None know her true name. You will see her a lot later on. Anything else? Yes Ruby?" Ruby gulped and fidgeted a little. "Uhm…why did that woman do that?" He nodded but shook his head. "I can't tell you right now. You'll find out later on."
"I have a question." Ozpin said and Spark nodded to him. "Does Miss Skuld have Tourette Syndrome?" Some of the student who knew what that was looked over to the girl who twitched and fidgeted nervously under the stares. "Don't like s-st-stares…want to b-bite." Furora sighed and walked over to the girl and started calming her down as Spark sighed and nodded. "It's not the only thing but it's the most prevalent. She's had a lot of trauma, both of them have. Scars aren't always external. If you want more, ask them in your own time…err well…more so ask Furora since Skuld doesn't remember much of what happened to make her who she is." Ozpin nodded and looked at the girl in pity as did several others.
Blake however had a question from what Skuld had said. "What did she mean by bite?" She asked out of curiosity, she had heard of some faunus who tended to have an urge to bite. Spark and Furora winced as he spoke. "I…It'll make sense later. We'll be watching clips about the heroes of each faction so you'll eventually learn."
"If no one has any more questions feel free to leave into the lobby and enjoy snacks or some of the rooms available as I get the next one ready." They all nodded and filed out as he sighed and looked to the two denizens from Heathmoor. "They'll have to learn eventually…" "I know…but can I be ready to face that?" Furora said and the two stayed silent.
And that's the end there folks. I really hope you enjoyed and yes I'm going to be doing the short clips about every single faction hero except warmonger so to not spoil anything. One question I'd like for some opinions on is when I do the campaign missions should I include the observables? It's something I've thought about but would like your opinions on it. Anyway, If you follow my other story I'll be updating that soon as well and then this afterwards. I may start another or just keep to it two right now.
I hope you enjoyed the OCs I included. They are mine and mine alone, and while I own the OC I do not in anyway own the game nor the characters, just the OC I've made. I hope I did alright as this is my first reaction fic so feel free to review.
Yes, Skuld has Tourette syndrome and I hope I portrayed it well and did not offend anyone who does have it and while on the topic I plan to reveal more about them as the story progresses. She has Tourettes and Schizophrenia which is why she was talking to herself. Again, I hope I did not offend anyone who has these or someone who knows someone personally with these, I merely wanted to represent them with these characters and interpreted it based on what I've read and seen but I have never personally met anyone with these.
With that out of the way, I hope you enjoyed the first chapter and I'll see you all next time!
GoldenSpark begone!
