'boy who was taken by Zeus' they call him
It is not what I see
He is so much more
Ganymede, tell me, do you love him?
'No', is his answer, 'he hath taken me from my home' he responds
Bitter sounding. Resentful.
'Zeus, thy ever immortal king. King of kings, ripped me from my home'
Ganymede hissed.
I had not heard the tale before
Now that I have,
I must say, Ganymede is forever the victim in my heart.
The boy, oh so lovely, was 16 when he was ripped from his home.
Must we villainize the victims?
We are oh so cruel,
the kidnapped Ganymede,
forced to be a cupbearer for the cruel and unjust Zeus,
and later turned into a constellation.
