Welp, I'm taking a break from this story after publishing this chapter.

I feel like I've published quite a lot of chapters for this story specifically in a pretty short period of time, and I need to continue my other stories as well. Not to mention that I'm re-entering college pretty soon.

Did I mention that I also have another Sonic story in the works? That should come out in a couple of days.

Time is never enough, is it?

Anyways, hope you like this one!

Some days later...

Tails sat at his desk, his goggles pushed up onto his forehead as he worked on repairing one of his damaged drones. As he worked, he couldn't get the image of Amy shouting at him and Sonic out of his mind. It gnawed at him, but he couldn't help but feel like there was more to that encounter than what Amy had let them know.

Suddenly, the sound of light, hurried footsteps echoed from outside, followed by a polite knock at the door. Tails frowned, glancing up from his work since he wasn't expecting anyone.

"Come in!" He called, his voice slightly muffled by the screwdriver between his teeth.

The door creaked open, and a familiar voice piped up. "Good morning, Mr. Tails!"

Tails turned in his chair, surprised to see Cream standing in the doorway, a cheerful smile on her face as Cheese the Chao floated beside her.

"Cream?" Tails blinked, setting his tools down and removing his goggles. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at home?"

Cream clasped her hands behind her back, tilting her head. "Mama let me come on my own today! She said it's safe because all the badniks have disappeared from around town."

Tails nods. "Oh, yeah, that. The fact that Eggman's robots have disappeared altogether is actually pretty strange, but it's a nice change of pace for once."

Cream looked around the workshop curiously, her wide eyes taking in the chaotic mess of tools and gadgets. "You've been busy, haven't you?"

Tails nodded absently, still processing her unexpected visit. "Yeah, I've been... trying to figure some things out. But, uh, you really shouldn't be walking around alone, Cream. Just because the badniks aren't around doesn't mean it's safe."

"I'll be okay!" Cream chirped, beaming up at him. "Cheese is here to protect me!" She turned more serious as she stepped closer. "And... I actually came to ask you something, Mr. Tails."

"Oh? What is it?" Tails asked, setting his chair upright and giving her his full attention.

"Have you seen Amy lately?" Cream's ears drooped slightly, and her cheerful demeanor faltered. "She hasn't been answering my calls, and I was starting to get worried."

Tails's expression softened, and he let out a small sigh. "Well... Yes and no."

Cream perked up slightly. "You have? How is she? Is she okay?"

Tails hesitated, his eyes darting to the side as he thought about how to answer.

"I saw her a few days ago, but she was... different." He admitted finally. "It's hard to explain, but something's going on with her. Do you remember the crown she was wearing?"

Cream nodded quickly. "Oh, yes! I still remember how she made me float! She seemed really happy about it too!" Her voice lowered. "But... is something wrong with it, Mr. Tails?"

Tails rubbed the back of his head, his twin tails twitching nervously. "That's what I'm trying to figure out. The crown definitely gives her powers, amazing ones at that... but it's more than that. It's... changing her. She's acting different, Cream. Angrier. More distant. It's like... it's like the crown is doing something to her mind."

Cream's eyes widened with concern. "You... really think so?"

Tails nods. "It's been changing her attitude and behavior for some time now..."

Cream's gaze dops. "Oh no... Poor Amy..." She glanced up at Tails, her voice quiet. "Does she know it's happening?"

"I don't think so." Tails said with a shake of his head. "She doesn't want to hear it anyways. Sonic and I tried talking to her, but... it didn't go well. She got really upset and told us to leave her alone."

Cream frowned, her small hands balling into fists at her sides. "Amy's never been like that before. She's always so nice and caring."

"I know." Tails sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping. "That's what makes this so hard. Amy's not just some friend to us, she's practically family. And seeing her like this, knowing what that crown might be doing to her, it's... it's awful. But the worst part is, I'm starting to doubt if I'm doing the right thing by wanting to take the crown away from her."

Cream tilted her head, confused. "Why would you think that, Mr. Tails? You're only trying to help her, right?"

Tails hesitated, staring down at the drone in his hands as if searching for answers in its broken frame. "I am. At least, I think I am. But... what if taking the crown away isn't really helping her? What if it's hurting her instead? She said the crown makes her happy, Cream. She said it makes her feel strong and in control for the first time in her life. How can I justify taking that away from her, even if it might be dangerous?"

Cream was quiet for a moment, processing his words. "But... if it's really making her happy, then why is she so upset with you and Mr. Sonic? Why is she shutting everyone out?"

"That's what I keep asking myself." Tails admitted, his voice heavy with doubt. "Is it the crown making her act like this, or is it me? Us? Have Sonic and I been blind to what Amy's been feeling all this time? Maybe... maybe she's right to be angry. Maybe we've failed her."

Cream's ears drooped, and she stepped closer, placing a small hand on Tails's arm. "Mr. Tails... I don't think you've failed her. You're trying your best to help her because you care about her. That's what matters."

Tails looked down at her, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Thanks, Cream. That means a lot." He sighed again, running a hand through his fur. "I just wish I knew what's the right thing to do. I don't want to lose Amy, but I don't want her to lose herself to that crown, either."

Cream gave his arm a reassuring squeeze. "I think you and Mr. Sonic will figure it out. Amy might be mad right now, but she's still your friend. And friends always find their way back to each other."

Tails's smile grew a little stronger, and he nodded. "You're right, Cream. Thanks for reminding me of that."

Cream beamed, her optimism infectious. "Of course! That's what friends are for."

Then, the door slammed open, startling Tails and Cream. Sonic stood in the doorway, panting slightly as though he'd just run halfway across the world. His expression, normally brimming with cocky confidence, was grim and unsettled.

"Tails!" Sonic called out, stepping inside. "This is starting to worry me."

"Sonic?" Tails spun around in his chair, his brow furrowing. "What's wrong?"

"It's... weird out there." Sonic leaned against the doorframe, catching his breath. "I ran around town to blow off some steam, but everything feels off. There's no sign of Eggman's badniks anywhere, not even the usual patrol bots. It's like they've just vanished."

Cream's eyes widened. "That's what I told Mr. Tails! I thought it was strange, too. Mama said it was safe, but I've never seen the badniks completely gone like this."

Sonic nodded, his face grim. "Exactly. It's too quiet. And without Amy around..." He hesitated, crossing his arms and looking away as if the thought was hard to admit. "Without her, it al feels just... lonely."

Tails exchanged a glance with Cream before stepping forward. "You haven't seen her at all?"

Sonic shook his head, frustration flashing across his face. "Not since she shouted at us and stormed off. Believe me, I've been looking. She hasn't been to any of her usual spots. It's like she just... decided to disappear from the public eye."

Cream's hands clasped over her heart, her voice soft with worry. "Oh no... Poor Amy. She must be really upset."

Sonic ran a hand through his quills, his usual cocky demeanor replaced with uncharacteristic unease. "I don't know if she's upset or what, but she's most likely avoiding us. And with her out there wearing that crown, who knows what could be happening? I can't shake the feeling that something's really, really wrong."

The workshop fell into silence, the weight of Sonic's words pressing heavily on them. Tails leaned against his desk, his twin tails twitching anxiously behind him.

"I've been thinking about the crown, too." Tails admitted. "Cream and I were just talking about it. I don't know what the right thing to do is anymore. What if taking the crown away from her hurts her even more?"

Sonic's eyes darkened, and he stepped closer to Tails. "I get what you're saying, buddy. I really do. But we can't just sit here and do nothing while Amy's out there figuring things out all by herself. That crown's messing with her head, I saw it in the way she acted back at her house and back at the market. That definitely wasn't her, Tails. Not the Amy I know."

Cream looked between them, her big brown eyes glistening with determination. "Then we should go see her. We can talk to her, just like friends should. Maybe if we're all together, she'll feel better and tell us what's wrong."

Sonic hesitated, glancing at Tails. "You think that'll work?"

Tails crossed his arms, his gaze thoughtful. "I don't know, but it's better than doing nothing. Maybe Cream's right. Having her there could help too. Amy's always had a soft spot for her, after all."

Cream nodded eagerly, her optimism shining through. "We just have to show her that we're here for her, no matter what. Even if she's upset, she'll understand."

Sonic sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "All right. Let's do it. But we've got to be careful. If she's in one of those moods again... well, I don't want to make things worse."

Tails grabbed a small toolkit from his workbench, slipping it into his satchel. "I'll bring a few things, just in case. If the crown's causing problems, maybe I can figure something out on the spot."

Sonic raised an eyebrow. "Not sure how much good tools will do against whatever's going on with that crown, but hey, can't hurt."

With their plan set, the three of them made their way to the door.

As they stepped outside, the unsettling stillness of the town hit them all at once. The usual buzz of activity was absent, replaced by an eerie quiet. No badniks, no distant hum of Eggman's machines, just the occasional rustle of the wind through the trees.

Sonic glanced over his shoulder at the workshop. "You feel it, right? This weird... emptiness?"

Tails nodded, his ears twitching as he scanned the area. "Yeah. It's like the whole town's holding its breath."

Cream hugged Cheese closer, her voice a whisper. "Do you think... Amy has something to do with this?"

Sonic frowned, staring ahead at the road that led to Amy's house. "Who knows?"

With that, the group set off, walking in uneasy silence. For all the dangers that Eggman's bots used to bring, the sight of the town without them felt... strangely alien. None of them would admit it, but seeing the town so void of badniks felt... more unsettling than comforting.

The walk to Amy's house felt longer than usual. When they finally reached the small, cozy home at the end of the path, Cream was the first to step forward, her small hand gently rapping on the door.

"Amy? It's me, Cream!" She called, her voice bright but tinged with worry. "Mr. Sonic and Mr. Tails are here too. Can we talk to you, please?"

For a moment, there was nothing but silence. The wind rustled the leaves, and Cheese floated nervously beside Cream, his antenna drooping slightly.

Sonic and Tails exchanged uneasy glances, neither of them sure what to expect.

Then, soft footsteps echoed from inside the house, drawing closer to the door. Cream perked up, a hopeful smile spreading across her face. "Amy?"

The door creaked open, and there she was, Amy Rose. Although...

The group froze at the sight of her, their hopeful expressions replaced with concern and unease.

Amy stood in the doorway, the crown perched on her head as usual. The red gem at its center glimmered faintly, casting an eerie glow that seemed to accentuate her weary appearance. Her face was pale, her usual lively pink complexion dulled as though drained of energy. Dark circles shadowed her eyes, which looked strained, like she hadn't slept properly in days. But what truly unsettled the group was the faint trail of red liquid that streaked down her cheeks, starting from the corners of her eyes.

Cream gasped softly, her hands flying to her mouth. "Amy... You look... tired. Are you okay?"

Amy blinked slowly, her gaze shifting between them. Her eyes were distant, almost hollow, but she managed a faint smile that didn't reach her usual warmth. "Hey, guys. What are you doing here? And why did you bring Cream here?"

Sonic stepped forward, his usual confidence faltering as he took in her appearance. "We were worried about you, Ames. You haven't been answering any calls, and, well... things just feel off without you around."

Tails nodded, his gaze lingering on the crown before returning to her face. "We just wanted to make sure you're okay. You've been through a lot lately, and... we're here if you need us."

Amy's expression softened, but there was a flicker of something else in her eyes... hesitation, maybe even doubt.

"You guys don't need to worry about me." She said, her voice quieter than usual. "Like I said, I'm fine..."

"But you don't look fine." Cream said earnestly, stepping closer. Her small hand reached out as though to touch Amy's arm, but she stopped herself. "You look like you haven't been sleeping, and... and your eyes..."

Amy instinctively touched her cheek, her fingers brushing against the faint trail of red liquid. For a moment, her facade cracked, and her brow furrowed as if she, too, was unsettled by her own appearance.

But then she straightened, her hand dropping to her side. "I've just been... busy. There's a lot on my mind, that's all."

Sonic frowned, his concern evident. "Look, Amy, I know we messed up before. We didn't listen to you when you needed us, and I'm sorry for that. But we're here now. Whatever's going on, you don't have to face it alone."

Tails stepped forward, his voice calm and sincere. "We're not here to take anything away from you, Amy. We just want you to know that no matter what happens, we care about you. If that crown really makes you happy, then we'll support you. We just want to make sure you're okay."

Amy's lips parted slightly, her expression wavering.

For a moment, it seemed like she might let them in. Her grip on the door loosened, and her shoulders relaxed as her gaze lingered on the group.

But then, a voice echoed in her mind... her own voice, cold and skeptical.

'They're lying. They're just saying what they think you want to hear. They don't trust you. They never have. They still think you need to be protected at all cost.'

Amy's fingers tightened on the edge of the door, her expression hardening. The faint glow of the crown's gem seemed to brighten for a split second, and her eyes narrowed slightly as the doubt seeped into her thoughts.

She forced a smile, though it was strained and hollow. "Thanks, guys. I appreciate you coming all the way here. But... I'm fine, really. You don't have to worry about me."

Cream's ears drooped, and she looked up at Amy with pleading eyes. "But, Amy-"

"I'll be okay." Amy interrupted gently, her tone firm but not unkind. "I just need some time to myself, that's all."

Before anyone could respond, she stepped back and began to close the door. "Take care, okay? And... thanks for checking on me."

The door shut with a soft click, leaving the group standing on the doorstep in stunned silence.

Sonic stared at the closed door, his fists clenching at his sides. "So... We can all agree that she's not fine, right?" He muttered, his voice low and frustrated.

Tails sighed, his ears drooping as he adjusted the strap of his satchel. "Right. But we can't force her to talk to us if she doesn't want to."

Cream hugged Cheese tightly, looking down in disappointment. "She didn't even let us in... She always lets us in..."

The three of them stood there for a moment longer, the weight of Amy's rejection settling heavily on their shoulders.

Finally, Sonic turned away, his expression resolute. "I'm not giving up on her. Not by a long shot. There's one last thing I haven't tried..."

Then, without further elaboration, he suddenly turned and sped off in a blue blur, leaving Tails and Cream behind.

"Sonic, wait! Where are you going?" Tails called out, but his friend was already too far gone to hear him. The fox let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through his fur. "Why does he always do that? He could at least tell us what he's thinking."

Cream tugged gently on Tails's arm, her voice small and uncertain. "Mr. Tails... do you think Mr. Sonic will be okay? He looked... really upset."

Tails hesitated, his twin tails drooping slightly. "He'll be fine, Cream. Sonic's always been the kind of guy who acts before he thinks, but he usually pulls through in the end." He tried to force a reassuring smile, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Don't worry about him. We'll figure this out."

Cream nodded slowly, but her expression remained troubled.

As they began walking back toward Tails's workshop, the silence between them stretched uncomfortably, broken only by the soft rustling of the wind.

Finally, Cream spoke up, her voice tinged with sadness. "Mr. Tails... how do you think Amy ended up like this? She's always been so strong and kind. What happened to her?"

Tails's steps faltered for a moment before he sighed deeply, his gaze fixed on the path ahead. "I don't know, Cream. But... if I had to guess, maybe it's because everywhere we go, people compare her to us all the time. No matter how hard she tried, I think she always felt like she didn't measure up to Sonic, Knuckles or even me."

Cream tilted her head, her wide eyes filled with concern. "Compared to you? Why would Amy feel that way? She's wonderful in her own way."

Tails shrugged, his ears twitching uncomfortably. "I guess it's because we're always out there, fighting Eggman and saving the world. Sonic's the fastest thing alive, Knuckles is the strongest, and I'm... well, I guess I'm the smart one. Amy must have felt like she didn't have something like that, and to be honest, people constantly comparing you to the rest of your friends for a long time and always saying that they're better, stings a lot more than you might think... People probably saw her as 'Sonic's number one fan' or just... someone who wasn't as important as the rest of us."

Cream frowned, her small hands balling into fists at her sides. "That's not true! Amy's done so many amazing things! She's brave and caring, and she's always there to help when someone's in trouble."

"I know that, Cream. We know that. But I don't think Amy knows that, or maybe she doesn't believe it herself, or perhaps... Perhaps that crown might distract her from feeling inferior every time she wears it..." Tails's voice grew quieter, almost as if he were afraid to admit what he was thinking. "That crown... it gives her amazing powers. It makes her feel like she finally has something that's hers, something that makes her special, something that makes her feel aknowledged. And maybe... maybe that's why she's keeping it, even though it's affecting her."

Cream's ears drooped, and she hugged Cheese closer. "That's so sad... I wish she could see how special she already is."

Tails gave her a small, sad smile. "Me too."

They walked in silence for a while, the weight of the conversation pressing heavily on them.

Then, Tails let out a bitter chuckle, shaking his head. "You know, I kind of understand how she feels. Feeling like you're not good enough, like you can't keep up. I mean, look at me, I'm supposed to be this super-smart inventor, but I've lost count of how many times I've messed things up. And no matter what I do, I can't compare to Sonic. He's the hero everyone looks up to. I'm just... the sidekick. The little guy that freezes up at the worst times. The guy everyone seeks for plans and not for actual heroism."

Cream stopped in her tracks, looking up at him with wide, earnest eyes. "That's not true, Mr. Tails! You're not just a sidekick. You're a hero too!"

Tails paused, caught off guard by the conviction in her voice. "I don't know, Cream. I try my best, but it's hard not to feel like I'm just... tagging along. I mean, I've always looked up to Sonic, and I'm proud to fight alongside him. But sometimes I wonder... if I weren't there, would it really make that much of a difference?"

Cream stepped closer, her small hand gently tugging on his arm to get his attention. "It certainly would make a difference, Mr. Tails. You've helped so many people, and you've done so many amazing things. You've built machines that saved lives, you've come up with plans that no one else could, and you've fought bravely even when things seemed hopeless. That's what a hero does."

Tails blinked, her words sinking in. "Cream..."

"You're a hero to me." Cream said firmly, her cheeks flushing slightly. "And... aside from Cheese and Miss Amy, I consider you a true friend too. Whenever you're around, I feel safe, like I'm not in danger because your presence calms me down. I know you're smart, brave and loyal to the very end. I know you're a hero to Amy too, even if she's upset right now. She knows how much you care about her, Mr. Tails. We all do."

For a moment, Tails didn't know what to say. He looked down at Cream, her unwavering sincerity shining through her soft brown eyes, and felt a warmth spread through his chest as a blush spread across his face.

He smiled and gently patted her on the head. "Thanks, Cream. That means a lot. You're pretty amazing yourself, you know that?"

Cream giggled, her own blush softening slightly. "I'm just doing my best, like you!"

As they continued walking back to the workshop, Tails felt a renewed sense of determination and worthiness.

Some hours later...

The soft glow of moonlight streamed through the windows of Amy's living room, bathing the space in a calm, silvery light. She sat on the couch, her fingers brushing idly over the crown that had brought her so many wonderful feelings. The trails of red liquid were still noticeable on her cheeks, but at this point, she had gotten used to the feeling of wetness running down from the corners of her eyes.

A knock on the door shattered the stillness, echoing sharply in the silence.

Amy froze, her gaze snapping toward the door. For a moment, she thought about ignoring it, but her curiosity got the better of her.

Rising from the couch, she hesitated, her eyes flickering to the crown. Something about the knock unsettled her, a feeling deep in her chest that made her uneasy. After a brief pause, she picked up the crown and placed it on her head. The moment it settled, a comforting sense of strength washed over her, steadying her nerves.

She made her way to the door, slowly pulling it open.

Sonic stood there, bathed in the moonlight. He held a bouquet of fresh flowers in his hands, their colors bright and cheerful even in the dim light. His expression, however, was far from his usual confident grin. It was softer, hesitant, and for the first time in a long while, Amy saw vulnerability in his emerald eyes.

"Hey, Ames." Sonic said quietly, his voice unusually subdued. "Can I come in for a minute?"

Amy's grip on the door tightened instinctively. "Sonic? What are you doing here? It's late."

"I know." He admitted, holding up the bouquet. "But I... I needed to see you. To talk to you."

Amy's eyes flickered to the flowers, and for a brief moment, she softened. But she quickly straightened, her guard back up. "What is it, Sonic?"

Sonic shifted his weight from foot to foot, his usual easy demeanor nowhere to be found. "Look, I've been thinking a lot about what happened the other day. About the stuff you said. And I realized... you're right. You're completely right."

Amy blinked, caught off guard. "What are you talking about?"

Sonic let out a breath, his shoulders sagging slightly. "You're right that I've always brushed you off. That I've never really taken the time to... see you or appreciate the stuff you do for me. Not the way I should have." He glanced down at the bouquet, turning it over in his hands. "I've been a terrible friend, Amy. And I'm sorry."

Amy stared at him, unsure how to respond.

Sonic took a step closer, his voice growing steadier. "I don't know why I acted the way I did. Maybe I thought if I let myself get too close, I'd slow down. Or maybe I was just scared of what it'd mean if I stopped running long enough to really... see you. But none of that matters anymore. What matters is that I get it now."

Her fingers tightened on the doorframe, her heart pounding in her chest.

"I don't want to keep running away from you." Sonic continued, his voice earnest. "I want to run in a different direction for once, toward you. I know I've been a screw-up, and I know I don't deserve your forgiveness, but... I'm here, Amy. And I want to make things right. Or at least try to, if you let me."

Amy's breath hitched, her usual composure faltering.

For a moment, she wanted to let him in and accept his apology. She wanted to believe every word. She wanted to hug him and tell him how much she's missed his company.

But then, her own voice echoed in her mind once again, quiet but firm.

'He doesn't mean it. He's never said anything like this before. It's incredibly suspicious for him to suddenly care.'

Her gaze shifted, the doubt in her mind clouding the warmth she felt from his words.

"Sonic..." She began, her voice trembling slightly. "I... I appreciate what you're saying. And I believe that you mean it. But..."

Her fingers brushed against the doorframe, her posture stiffening. "But I... I don't need you to make things right for me. I'm fine like this. I've finally found something that makes me strong, something that's mine. I don't need anyone's approval anymore."

Sonic's brow furrowed, his unease growing. "Ames, come on. I'm not here to take anything away from you. I'm here because I care about you. Because I-"

"Because you feel guilty." Amy interrupted, her tone sharp. "You feel bad for all the times you ignored me, so now you want to make yourself feel better by clearing your conscience in order to sleep peacefully tonight. Is that it?"

Sonic looked stunned, the accusation hitting him like a blow.

"That's not true!" He said firmly. "I'm here because I care about you. Because I want to help you!"

Amy hesitated, her thoughts swirling. She wanted to believe him, but the voice in her head wouldn't let her.

'He's lying again. He's trying to repair his damaged ego. He wants to wash the guilt off himself.'

She swallowed hard, forcing a small, strained smile. "Thanks for coming, Sonic. But I'm fine. Really. And maybe... maybe it's time for you to start chasing after me for a change. I was getting tired of chasing after you anyways."

Before he could respond, she stepped back into the house, her movements deliberate. "Thank you for the flowers, but I've plenty enough already. Take care of yourself, Sonic."

The door closed with a quiet click, leaving Sonic standing alone on the doorstep.

He stared at the closed door, the weight of her words pressing down on him as he unconsciously dropped the bouquet of flowers.

'Did that just happen?' He thought, his fists clenching at his sides. 'Did she really just close the door on my face after I genuinely opened up to her for the first time?'

Without a word, he turned and sped off into the night, his mind racing even faster than his feet. 'Well, if there were any doubts left inside me, then that got rid of them completely. Even if Amy really didn't want anything to do with me anymore, she wouldn't have shut me out altogether after I spoke from the heart. Her own golden heart and compassion wouldn't let her close the door on my face the way she just did. That definitely wasn't the same sweet girl who always stood up for others. It wasn't the empathetic girl I've known all this time. I don't care what she says, she's absolutely NOT my Amy.'

Inside, Amy leaned against the door, her hands trembling as she pressed them to her chest. She slid down to the floor, letting out a sigh.

"Was that the right thing to do?" She whispered to herself, her voice barely audible. "Agh... Why are these things always so complicated?"

Then, Amy stood up and walked to the window, staring out at the starred night outside, the bouquet Sonic had brought laying forgotten on the doorstep.

Her own voice echoed in her mind, steady and persuasive.

'You don't have to stay cooped up here. Go out there and remind yourself of what you can do. Clear your mind.'

Without hesitation, Amy stepped away from the window and headed outside. The cool night air kissed her skin as she lifted off the ground, her body enveloped in the faint red aura of the crown's power. She soared into the sky, the world below her growing smaller as she ascended.

The town stretched out beneath her, its quiet streets bathed in the soft glow of streetlights. Amy scanned the horizon, her sharp eyes searching for any sign of badniks.

She flew over the marketplace, the park, and even the industrial district, but there was nothing. Not a single badnik in sight.

"Where are they?" She murmured to herself, frustration bubbling beneath the surface.

Then, a memory surfaced, vivid and recent. She saw herself tearing numerous badniks limb from limb over the past few nights, their metallic parts scattering like leaves in the wind. She had been ruthless, taking her sweet time to torment and terrorize each robot before destroying them completely.

Amy slowed her flight, her expression faltering. "Oh... right. I probably got rid of them all already."

For a moment, she hovered in place, her thoughts churning. She had flown out here to clear her mind, to channel the restless energy burning inside her. But with no badniks left to fight, what was she supposed to do now?

Her own voice spoke up again, calm and reassuring.

'You're thinking too small, Amy. You don't have to stop here. Look beyond what's right in front of you.'

Amy frowned, tilting her head slightly as she processed the thought. It didn't feel like an intrusive voice, it felt like her own reasoning, logical and clear.

"Look beyond what's right in front of me?" She repeated quietly.

Her gaze lifted, scanning the horizon. The town stretched out below her, but in the distance, just past the city limits, she spotted something glinting faintly in the moonlight.

A smirk tugged at her lips as she recognized the unmistakable silhouette of one of Eggman's bases of operations. The large, dome-shaped structure was partially hidden in the hills, its towering smokestacks faintly visible against the dark sky.

"Woah, nice..." Amy said, her voice laced with satisfaction.

She turned toward the base and surged forward, the red aura around her flaring brighter as she flew. The wind whipped through her quills, and the faint hum of the crown's energy filled her ears.

As she approached the edge of the city, her thoughts wandered, unbidden. The voice she'd been hearing, her own voice, had been guiding her for a couple of days now. It had been an unexpected development, but one that she didn't seem to mind. It wasn't demanding or forceful, just... suggesting.

Still, a flicker of uncertainty lingered at the edges of her mind. The crown's power was undeniable, it made her feel strong, invincible even. But its presence in her life had changed everything, and she couldn't ignore the way it had started to blur the lines between her own thoughts and... something else.

Amy focused her gaze on the distant base, the glow of its perimeter lights growing brighter as she drew closer. The unease in her chest began to fade, replaced by a sense of purpose. This was what she needed, something to focus on, something to channel her strength into.

As she approached the base, she slowed, hovering in the air just outside the range of its defenses. Spotlights swept the area below, and the faint hum of machinery reached her ears. The base was quiet but far from abandoned.

A determined smile spread across her face. "Time to see if Eggman has anything interesting to throw at me in here."

Amy landed gracefully at the entrance to Eggman's base, her boots crunching softly against the gravel. The metallic door loomed in front of her, its surface painted with Eggman's unmistakable emblem. The area was eerily quiet, save for the faint hum of machinery and the occasional flicker of a distant spotlight.

She stepped forward confidently, raising her hand. A faint red glow enveloped the door, and with a flick of her wrist, it was ripped clean off its hinges, the heavy metal clanging loudly against the ground.

Amy peeks inside the building, smiling to herself. 'Hm. Must be a supply base or something equally insignificant. Still should be good to have some fun, though.'

Instantly, alarms blared, filling the base with shrill, piercing cries. Red warning lights began flashing in rhythmic patterns, casting eerie shadows that danced across the walls. Amy smirked as she strode inside, unbothered by the cacophony of noise.

"That should be enough to get this party started." She muttered to herself, her voice tinged with satisfaction.

As she moved deeper into the base, the ground beneath her suddenly shifted. Panels slid open, revealing rows of deadly spike traps that shot upward with a metallic screech. Amy froze for a moment, but before she could react, her own voice echoed in her mind, calm and steady.

'Step left.'

Without thinking, she shifted to the left just as the spikes shot upward inches from where she had been standing. She glanced down at the trap, a small chuckle escaping her lips. "Oof. Close one."

She continued forward, her pace unhurried. The next hallway was lined with turrets that popped out of the walls, their barrels glowing with charged energy.

'Duck.'

Amy dropped into a crouch, the lasers from the turrets scorching the air just above her head. With a wave of her hand, a red pulse of energy shot out, ripping the turrets from their mounts and sending them clattering to the floor.

"Is that the best you've got, Eggman?" She called out, her voice echoing mockingly through the corridors.

More traps followed, flamethrowers, collapsing ceilings, electrified floors, but Amy evaded them all with ease. Each time, the voice in her head guided her with pinpoint accuracy.

'Jump. Dodge right. Wait. Slide to the left. Hold your ground.'

It felt effortless, almost like a dance. Amy moved fluidly through the maze of hazards, her confidence growing with each step.

Finally, she reached a large chamber at the heart of the base. The walls were lined with monitors displaying various sections of the facility, and the floor was littered with mechanical parts. As she stepped into the room, heavy footsteps echoed from the shadows.

From the far end of the chamber, a squad of towering robots emerged. These weren't the flimsy badniks Amy had faced before, these were Eggman's heavy-duty enforcers, each one armed with reinforced armor and powerful weapons. Their glowing red optics fixed on Amy, and they advanced with a synchronized march.

Her smirk widened as the voice in her head whispered. 'Let it out. Show them the fire in you. Destroy them all.'

She didn't hesitate. Raising her hand, she unleashed a blast of energy that sent the first row of robots staggering backward. They quickly regrouped, their weapons charging as they opened fire.

But Amy was already moving.

She darted forward, dodging the incoming projectiles with ease. Her speed was uncanny, her movements precise. One robot swung a massive arm at her, but she leaped over it, landing gracefully on its shoulder.

"You're too slow..." She said with an unsettling grin before plunging her fist into its head. The robot's optics flickered violently as Amy ripped its head clean off, tossing it aside like a piece of scrap metal.

The other robots converged on her, but Amy's powers surged.

Her eyes glowed brightly, and twin beams of crimson light shot out, slicing through two more robots and leaving them in smoldering heaps.

"I've got laser vision now? Huh, I could get used to this!" She remarked, laughing softly.

She wasn't even aware that her eyes were fully leaking that same blood-red liquid in full motion.

More robots charged at her, and the voice in her head spoke again, encouraging and gleeful. 'Slay your beasts with your crown. Take it all down! SHOW YOUR DEVOTION!'

As the robots charged, Amy raised her hand, and the air around them seemed to distort. The floor shifted, twisting unnaturally as if reality itself were bending to her will. The robots stumbled, their movements disjointed, and Amy took full advantage.

One by one, she tore through them. Limbs were ripped from torsos, metal was crushed under her hands, and circuits sparked wildly as she dismantled them piece by piece.

With each strike, each burst of destruction, a strange euphoria washed over her. Her breathing quickened, her heart racing as she tore another robot in half with a triumphant shout. "Ha... HAHA... HAHAHAHAHA!"

The sensation was intoxicating, as if every punch, every burst of energy, was feeding a deep, primal need inside her.

"More..." She whispered, her voice trembling with exhilaration. "I can do more! BRING ME MORE!"

As if on cue, a door opened to reveal more robots. Although, this final group seemed to be hesitant, as if considering whether or not they should engage. Then, the robots took off for the nearest window.

Amy smirks maliciously. "HEY, COME BACK HERE! I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU!"

She raised her hand, and in a moment, the window seemed to disappear. The confused robots could only look on as Amy lowered her hand, and an invisible force sent them tumbling to the ground.

Amy looms over the fallen robots with a smirk. "Nighty night!"

Then, Amy tightens her fist, and their heads explode instantly.

Amy stood in the center of the carnage, her chest heaving and her hands glowing faintly with residual energy. The room was silent now, save for the occasional crackle of sparking wires.

The voice in her head spoke again, its tone calm and approving. 'Perfect.'

Amy closed her eyes, the rush of power beginning to ebb. Her muscles ached slightly, but the feeling was satisfying, like she'd just completed a nurturing workout.

"That felt... amazing." She admitted, her voice soft. She glanced around at the destroyed robots, a smirk tugging at her lips.

The voice didn't speak again, and Amy shook her head, brushing off any concerns that might have come to her head. "This is what I needed. Talk about an upgrade!"

She turned and began making her way out of the base, her steps lighter than before. As she ascended into the night sky, the cool breeze against her skin brought a sense of calm.

Looking back at the base, now a smoking ruin, she made a quiet decision. "I'll definitely come back. Whenever I need to clear my head... this is where I'll go. I hope Eggman repairs this place and makes more tin cans for me to smash. I just can't wait to see those little heads of theirs explode again!"

With that, she flew home giggling to herself, her red aura cutting through the darkness like a beacon. As she flew away, some blood-red droplets fell to the ground, bound to remain undiscovered by anyone.
