across town*
Arizona wakes from her afternoon nap on the couch in a cold sweat. Her limbs feel heavy.
She knew she was just waking up from a dream but her body was reacting to it physically.
Maybe because she drank a ridiculous amount of alcohol last night with April, her body was working overtime to remove the poison.
Whatever the reason, it was time for a shower because it was already 2 in the afternoon and Arizona couldn't look as lousey as she felt when Sofia would be here in a couple hours.
Getting up to head to the shower, Arizona is surprised her house isn't trashed.
She could have sworn she would need to call cleaning services when Amelia left but you'd never guess she and April got trashy with a big bottle of vodka just the night before.
"Cool?" She says to herself and heads to her bathroom to get a shower.
...
Completely refreshed when she gets dressed Arizona looks for her phone and finds it wedged between couch cushions, flashing notifications.
She reads a message from Amelia,
"Bette Midler never gets old. Thanks for having me. I got paged in but I cleaned up before I left. You're welcome ;)"
Arizona smiles, surprised by Amelia's thoughtfulness.
"You. Are. Awesome." She texts back.
If only she were gay Arizona muses..
Arizona, amused by her own thoughts, scrolls to the message thread from her ex.
Callie was going to LA for the weekend so Arizona was going to get to have her baby girl all weekend!
She checks her messages from Callie,
"Should be by with sof around 5 after surgery"
It was going on 2:30 so she still had a little bit of time before her babygirl came home.
Just to ease her mind, she went to check in Sofia's room to make sure it was still perfect for her and that it hadn't been a part of the trashy night of drinking. The last thing she needed was Sofia telling Callie that she found a bottle of Grey Goose in her room.
There wasn't any, of course, but Arizona found herself in her daughter's room for longer than she expected, distracted by her thoughts when she saw one of the pictures on Sofia's desk flat on it's face.
Out of curiosity she went over and picked the picture up,
It was one of her favorites.
It was from right after Sofia was born, she recognized the bright red couch from Callie's old apartment. She had been breast feeding Sofia with Callie when Mark brought it upon himself to show up with lots of new baby supplies. It bugged Arizona at first but she came to appreciate the man and how much he meant to Callie, eventually.
She smiles looking at the pictures and remembering this moment. It was the moment Arizona realized Mark had any kind of depth and really was a good man.
He had come to sit with her when Callie went to the bathroom and showed a side Arizona didn't even know to expect from him,
"She really is beautiful, Arizona."
She couldn't keep her eyes off her baby, seeing so much of Callie and of herself.. it was amazing.
"I know" she said, amazed at the life she created.
"She's gonna have the best life, with the two best mommies" Mark was using a voice Arizona had never heard from him. He was stroking the light brown hairs on her head, looking down at Sofia with a look Arizona had never seen on his face. He was positively goo goo ga ga for Sofia and he seemed to be having an effect on her baby as well.
She had Arizona's finger in her hand and was still drinking but her eyes were stuck on Mark's. Looking back down at her baby she felt an overwhelming warmth swell in her heart. And then she heard a shutter echo in the silent room. Looking up she sees Callie with a huge smile on her face looking at the 3 on the couch with a camera in her hands.
"My 3 favorite people." She muses, joining them on the couch. She caresses the little bootie covered foot as she puts her arm around Mark's arm around Arizona. They make eye contact and just smile before looking back at the woman between them and the new life she held. Arizona felt supported and from that moment they were inseparable. Mark became like a brother to Arizona, making him Sofia's uncle and Arizona knew just from watching him with Sof that it was supposed to be that way.
She'll never forget the man and she didn't want her daughter to either.
She shed a tear before putting the frame back in it's place and going to make sure there was enough food that Sofia would eat in the house.
She wished Mark would see Sofia grow up. Though she doesn't know what he would say about how picky their babygirl is about her food.
Arizona makes her way back down the hall to the kitchen and checks the refrigerator for Sofia approved meals. Along the way she's decided to make a southern comfort meal tonight for Sofia but she didn't have the right pork chops, or the right potatoes for mashed potatoes. Sofia would definitely not let it go, so Arizona makes a list of the things she will need to restock for the weekend and heads to the grocery store.
By the time she makes it back home It's going on 4 so Arizona decides to start getting dinner ready so it will be close to done when Callie brings Sofia over. She turns on her music playlist and gets started. Pretty soon the house smells amazing; butter and hearty goodness.
Sofia used to dislike any food that was green but through trial and error Arizona learned if it was broccoli or sweet peas and it was seasoned well and she could have it with macaroni or mashed potatoes, she could get her daughter to clear her entire plate. So she made all of that with the pork chops and was just putting the last chop in the pan when the doorbell rang. It was a little after 5 so she assumed it was Callie and wondered why she didn't just use the key she had to let herself in as she had many times before.
She peers through the peephole and sees Callie with Sofia.
"Heyyyy" she says to the pair as she opens the door and steps aside for them to come in.
"Mama! Are you cooking?" Sofia looks excited at that prospect which makes Arizona proud.
"I am, just for you baby girl." She smiles at her daughter who runs into the kitchen to see.
"Oooo Pork chops!" Was heard as Arizona smiles back at Callie who shuts the door behind her as they go to join Sofia in the kitchen.
"I'm catching the 5oclock flight back on Sunday so I'll call you when I'm leaving the airport." Callie says looking at her phone as they make their way to the kitchen.
Arizona looks back at her once more, carrying Sofia's bag on her shoulder and typing away on her phone
before they come to stand beside Sofia who is hovering over the last cooking chop.
"You may get popped, step back baby." Callie says as she puts her phone in her pocket and looks over the food Arizona has made.
"Can I eat?" Sofia asks excited.
"Of course! I made it just for you."
"Go wash your hands first Sofia,I'll put your stuff in your room." Callie interjects as Arizona starts making a plate.
The little girl rushes down the hall to the bathroom and Callie follows behind carrying her weekend bag to her room.
Her room here is so neat, with everything in its place. Callie sets the bag down beside the bed as she looks over the pictures on Sofia's desk. It makes her smile to see a couple with Mark still had a place.
Caught up by the memories, she hadn't realized how long it was taking her until she heard Arizona behind her,
"She's eating and youre more than welcome to stay if you're hungry. I made enough.."
"It smells really good." Callie responds, putting the picture she had picked up back in its place, walking over to Arizona.
"I needed some comfort food and I wanted to cook a good meal for Sof." Arizona says leaning against the door frame.
"Comfort food? Everything okay?" Callie asks
"Oh no, yes. Yes, everything is fine. Just a little hung over. April and Amelia came over last night.. We may have overdone it."
"Amelia doesn't drink!" Callie exclaimed.
Overdoing it a teeny bit and hoping she wasn't being obvious. As far as she knew Amelia was in recovery.. if Arizona messed that up for her..
"Yeah she doesn't. I feel bad for drinking, it was probably a hard test for her but she didn't even budge so I'm proud of her. If she does ever decide to come over again maybe it'll just be the two of us.
.. I really like her."
Callie was like a sponge, absorbing all of this information from Arizona before her response came, "So you're hungover from a girls night?
Maybe that's why April has been so irritatable today.." Callie concludes aloud.
"Oh yeah April definitely hit it harder than me. I don't know what's going on with her and Jackson or intern #979292 but we had to cut her off when she started takingher clothes started coming off."
Amelia really was amazing, she made us breakfast and helped me clean up this morning. And by helped me I mean Amelia Sheppard cleaned my apartment. If she wasn't straight, I may have found the perfect housewife." Arizona joked.
A weak "aha" was all Callie managed, and even that was strained. This was awkward.. but before she could put her foot in her mouth Arizona continued, "and I guess, the comfort food is because I'm missing Mark a bit today.."
Callie was completely surprised to hear that. She knew Arizona missed Mark, but she never really said it out loud like it was just a normal thing to say.
Callie missed Mark every day and smiles remembering how tense Mark and Arizona's relationship could be at times before Sofia arrived.
Almost immediately after their daughter was born though, the three of them were like peas in a pod and it warmed Callie's heart. She would come home to a full house with Mark and Arizona cooking together or Arizona taking a nap while Mark spent time with baby Sofia.
"I would love to have some comfort food." Callie says then.
Arizona watches her for a moment more before turning to head back to the kitchen.
"Wait." Callie exclaims suddenly, remembering something.
"I have something that belongs to you.." and she fishes the bon Jovi CD from Sofia's bag and presents it to Arizona who just looks at the CD and then back to Callie.
"Is that my bon Jovi CD?"
"yeah""Bounce"
..
Arizona takes the case in her hand and looks it over.
"I thought you might have had it.
And you were just going to keep it.." she says it more to herself.
"Oh no. I mean I did have it but I forget about it until it came on the other day. So then I called you.."
Arizona chuckles a little at Callie having the CD this whole time before she reasons,
"Is this why you called?"Then she laughs out loud, not noticing or maybe not caring Callie isn't as amused.
"I got another one." Arizona tells her, "besides, Sofia actually downloaded it for me on iTunes so I have it everywhere I go..
..but thank you for holding on to it for me, I haven't listened to it in a while."
Callie has to laugh at how sentimental she is before getting to the important issues at hand:
"Alright then woman, let's go eat! I'm hungry." She finally says, ushering Arizona down the hall.
Arizona leads the way to the kitchen, putting the CD on a stack of mail, and going to the fridge for drinks for the three of them,
"Water, wine, juice?" Arizona asks looking into the fridge then between Callie and Sofia, who has already helped herself.
"I got juice" Sofia states, Currently sawwing at a chop with a butter knife.
"I'll have a juice too" Callie answers going over to help Sofia remove the bone.
Arizona fixes drinks and sits down as a plate it placed in front of her by Callie who goes to sit beside Sofia before giving thanks and digging in.
The food waas delicious, and quickly devoured. There was a little fuss over who would clear the kitchen but Arizona gave up when Callie took everything Arizona picked up to clean or put away from her hands.
"Okay Callie." Arizona finally gives in, "Thanks. I appreciate it."
"I appreciate you cooking for sof. And feeding us both. It was really good."
"Mama! The TV doesn't work!" Sofia yells from the next room.
"Yes it does Sofia" Arizona whispers, rolling her eyes and going to see what Sofia needs help with.
Callie just chuckles and continues cleaning.
When she finishes, Callie goes down the hall to use "Sofia's" bathroom but the door is locked. She can hear that the shower is going but Sofia isn't supposed to lock doors in the house unless there is an emergency.
Grumbling she decides to see if Arizona's is available, knocking on the bedroom door she hears, "come in?" It was more of a question but Callie goes ahead and opens the door.
Stepping through the threshold her attention is immediately drawn.
She knew she shouldn't stare but her feet hadn't found the willpower to continue her journey to the bathroom, and before they had she was caught staring.
Across the room stealing her attention Arizona was sitting on the far side of her bed in a towel and didn't seem concerned at all with Callie being in her room while she got dressed.--
She was waiting, however, for Callie to say something.
Callie was too busy fumbling.
Arizona fresh from a shower, her hair still wet while she sat on the bed
--naked underneath her towel. --
Callie could see small beads of water dripping. Down her neck, down her shoulders..
Callie still hadn't said anything but was just looking at Arizona
like a deer in the headlights when Arizona faced away again.
"Um.." was all she managed.
Arizona contemplated why Callie was there before she pulled the towel away.
She heard a noise from Callie and just chuckled at Callie's awkwardness, "It's not like it's something you haven't already seen.." she says pulling a shirt over her head before bringing a pair of boxer shorts up to rest on her hips.
" Seriously Cal, you just come here to stare or?" Arizona says turning to face Callie again,
but when she noticed the bulge in Callie's trousers she was even more confounded by Callie.
Callie realized what Arizona was looking at and the heat in her pants rushed to her cheeks.
Now Callie was really embarrassed and rushed into the bathroom and shuts the door and gathers a little support from it.
"what the hell?" She whispers to herself.
Immediately she goes to the sink and turns on the water to splash her face before fully recognizing her now rock hard boner.
It was time for mind over matter since the issue wasn't going to resolve itself..
She hadn't thought about Arizona in that way in a very, very long time but all she could think about was the way Arizona slowly pulled her shorts up over her thighs.. Callie's mind wouldn't let her forget the flash of skin before they were pulled to her hips because she had also seen that Arizona decided to forgoe underwear. And she hadn't been wearing a bra.
"Fuck" not helping.
Okay think about happy puppies being adopted, and flying toasters.
She was starting to relax but her dick was still pulsing.
She knew what she needed to do.
What she hadn't done all day,
Release.
And after an afternoon flirting with Amelia, her body was begging for it.
And It was getting extremely uncomfortable to keep in her pants..
She looked to the door, the only barrier between herself and a warm body but she knew that was never gonna happen again. ..
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to get herself off quickly..that way she'll be perfectly relaxed before her flight.
She reasoned it in her head as she sat down on the toilet seat and unbuttoned her pants.
Sometimes she impressed herself.
The tent in her briefs was large and screaming for attention as Callie freed her cock from her underwear and began stroking.
She thinks about Arizona's ass, and the perfect view of Arizona's profile while she pulled her top over her head.. Callie groans as she grabs onto the counter and knocks some things over.
A few moments later a knock is heard before Arizona asks, "Cal you alright in there?"
"yah"
Callie's voice cracks in response and it kinda sounds strained but Arizona leaves her to it as she goes to check on Sofia.
Looking to the sink, Callie spies the mess she's made but controls the giddiness before it can escape with the pure Bliss radiating through her hot body.
When Arizona began with the plans she had to build a new house for herself Callie wasn't sure she would ever see it to fruition.
They had just gotten divorced and Callie thought Arizona was kind of having a midlife crisis.
She never thought she would eat a meal in a kitchen built by her ex. Or walk the halls.
..She should have never doubted Arizona, because here she was, currently staring at the beautiful ceiling Arizona designed, while she rubbed one out.
In her own mind, Callie found the situation hilariously absurd.
Looking around the room, she spies a set of lounger chairs and thinks about leaving the toilet behind but she's already so close. There's no use, just a few moments later and Callie stands to drop her load in the toilet with quiet moans as she grips the toilet for balance.
"What a waste" she thinks to herself as she always does dropping her semen in the toilet.
"A necessary evil" her internal joke plays out.
"Oh ...Kay" she hums to herself as she gets steady again before going to wash e her hands and leave the bathroom.
She half's expects Arizona to still be in the room but is a little relieved that she isn't. It was awkward enough being caught with a boner.
Callie had only been in Arizona's room once before and she took a moment to check it out without being nosy.
She hears Finding Dory playing down the hall and follows the sonics to her baby girl sitting with Arizona in the living room.
"I don't know how you are not sick of that movie yet sof." But Sofia doesn't switch her attention.
Arizona curiously looks to Callie before Callie states, "She's watched that movie every night for almost a week now"
"She's got great tastes" Arizona responds with a smile before looking back to the TV.
Callie comes to stand behind them on the couch, tuning in to the movie and enjoying her family for a moment.
"Alright" Callie says emphatically, rubbing her hands as she looks between Arizona and Sofia. "I'm about to hit the road."
"Why do you have to go" Sofia fuses even though Callie already explained she was going to LA to see Aunt Addison.
It makes Callie sad that her daughter has to suffer through their divorce but she was certain Sofia knew when to milk it at this point.
"Remember I told you sweetie, I'm going to see Addison." Callie explained running her fingers through Sofia's soft curls to get her to look up. The child kept staring at the TV trying to find something to be mad about,
"Is she your girlfriend" she teased.
"you know Addison is mommy's friend and she is not my girlfriend." Callie nervously responded. Even though it was 100% true, she felt suddenly awkward about her sex life.
"Maybe she's getting the redheads in your life mixed up." Arizona makes light of her daughter's question.
..
"Can I get a hug?" Callie asks, moving on because it was time for her to leave and she needs a smile before she can.
Kneeling down to Sofia's level she hugs her mini me, just as she suspected sof was quick to try and end the embrace but callie just squeezed tighter. Before covering her daughter's perfect cheeks with kisses until the little girl finally couldn't keep the giggles quiet. The laughter was winning her over.
"I don't want you to go Mama!"
"I know. I'm going to miss you every day and night but I know I'm going to see you again very soon.
You just try not to have too much fun while I'm gone. "
"No promises" Arizona chimes from the couch
"You keep her in check sof. You're in charge okay." Callie says, standing back up while Arizona protests,
"Callie don't tell her stuff like that, what if she takes you seriously?"
"Arizona, I think she knows better than that."
"Yeah Arizona, I know better than that." The 6 year old imitates stunning both her parents for a moment.
Callie was trying to keep it together and not die laughing because Arizona didn't look as impressed with their kid as she was.
"Sofia Torres!" Arizona finally got out, "My name is mommy, mama, or mom and you know it" she finishes looking actually offended by the diva in the room before looking up to Callie, who could no longer contain the laughter inside. "okay, I'm going to go.. Sofia, listen to you mom. Bye"
Callie steps outside and is immediately grateful for the projection of her weekend.
Walking to her car, the chill in the air permeates the leather jacket she has on causing her to shiver before she pulls it tighter around herself.
LA is going to be the perfect getaway-- Warm nights and warmer days.. Callie couldnt get there quick enough. Driving back to her apartment to get her luggage makes Callie glad she decided to fly instead of drive.
After Arizona's delicious food all Callie wants to do is nap 30,000 miles in the air.

Back in the Robin's house mom and daughter are cuddled up in front of the TV under a blanket with a bowl of buttery popcorn between them.
Arizona looks over to Sofia who has one hand still in the bowl and the other bringing popcorn to her mouth while her eyes are glued to the colorful scene on the TV.
She's always been able to spot her own features on her daughter's face but the older Sofia gets the more she looks like Callie. And now, seeing her profile so engrossed in what she's watching that she doesn't even remember she wants popcorn she really reminds Arizona of Callie. Arizona chuckles a little to herself, grasping the little girls attention.
"You like the movie mama?"
"I love the movie. And I love you."
But Sofia has already been sucked back in to the fish tale.
"Come here peanut." Arizona says, moving so that she is laying back on the arm of the couch.
Sofia scoots over to her mother's lap, laying on top of her, but never takes her eyes off the screen.
Arizona is secretly jumping for joy that Sofia doesn't think she's too old for Mama's lap yet.
Arizona kisses her daughter's head and begins running her fingers through Sofia's sandy brown curls before focusing back on the TV.
The credits playing wakes Arizona up and she realizes they both fell asleep.
Reaching down gingerly to not wake the sleeping beauty, Arizona picks up her phone to take a selfie of her daughter out cold on her chest. She remembers when the frame used to capture Sofia's whole body. Looking at the curls taking up half the picture makes Arizona smile.
She sends the picture to a few people but knows Callie will appreciate it the most.
She sends Callie fun but safe travel wishes before she puts the phone back down.
Rubbing Sofia's back and whispering to wake her up Arizona begins what might be a small battle to get Sofia in bed.
"Sofiaaaa, wake up baby. Time to get in the bed.
Sofiaaaa.. wake up."
"noo I don't want to" the child whines back, not picking her head up.
"You don't want to nice and comfy cozy in bed?
With Ms. Ginger B and Bucky..and" Arizona starts listing the names she can remember of Sofia's stuffed animals.
She looks down to see Sofia is definitely not awake anymore.
This is when having one leg really sucks.
She couldn't just get up without leverage.
"Sofia. Come on baby. Let's get up. You can go right back to sleep." Arizona tries again, nudging Sofia a little this time.
"nnnnngh" Sofia grumbles as she slowly gets up,
Arizona gets up behind her and shuffles the girl down the hall to her room, where she tucks her in. She's heading to her own room when she hears her phone buzz from the den.
The blue light glows on the smile lighting up the blondes face as she reads the message she just received,
"Two my favorite people. Y'all sleep tight."
That made her smile as she went back to her room to do just what Callie instructed. And she did.
