Chapter 75: DogDay Vs CraftyCorn: Disastrous Quarrel

CatNap and Baba meanwhile were sitting together on a city bus to Sunshine Valley.

"Are you sure you live in a safe area in Sunshine Valley?" CatNap asked her,

"Positive." Baba replied,

As they got off the bus, CraftyCorn was calling CatNap as soon as CatNap was gonna check his phone.

"CraftyCorn?" Baba wondered,

"She's a close friend of mine." CatNap replied, "Excuse me."

"Go on, I can wait."

CatNap accepted the call.

"Hey, Crafty, what's up?" He asked her on the phone,

CraftyCorn was at her home, preparing herself.

"CatNap, I…" She said as she took a deep breath, "I'm dueling DogDay at 6PM in Verygreen Park."

"What?" CatNap said, "Why?"

"It's a long story… DogDay is still… acting differently ever since he tried to frame Baba for no reason…"

"True… There's gotta be some sort of history between them… Did he request you to duel him?"

"Yes, he did."

CatNap sighed.

"And, uhhh, is there anything I can do to help you while dealing with him?" He asked her,

CraftyCorn sighed as she thought for a moment.

"I need you to give me advice." She said, "What can I do to make DogDay realize his big mistake?"

CatNap sighed heavily.

"You sure you wanna know?" He asked her, "This is really heavy."

"Yes, I am sure." CraftyCorn replied,

CatNap looked at Baba before going back to being on her phone with CraftyCorn and sighed.

"Alright, here's what I got." He said,

Bobby meanwhile was at her home with PickyPiggy comforting her while letting her tears out.

"I still don't understand…" Bobby said with sorrow, "What is wrong with DogDay? Why is he acting this way?"

"I… I don't know…" PickyPiggy said, "But the fact that it's been this way since he's been spying on CatNap and Baba 2 nights ago is insane…"

Bobby had no idea what else to say as she buried herself onto PickyPiggy.

"There there, baby…" PickyPiggy said while hugging and comforting her, "You're ok… Just let it out…"

Robert came downstairs and was surprised to see what was going on. PickyPiggy looked at him and whispered to him, "She'll be fine. Don't worry about it." Robert went back upstairs, concerned about his older sister.

It was almost 6PM. CraftyCorn was walking to Verygreen Park with her Duel Disk ready. She was focused on her upcoming duel against DogDay. She had a serious look on her face as she was looking to end whatever DogDay is doing. Did CatNap give her the right advice or choice to make during their phone call? Or will this whole drama started by DogDay continue as if he's immune to his friends' words? Either way, it will happen right now.

CraftyCorn was in Verygreen Park. DogDay was waiting for her on the dueling field.

"I'm here." She said to DogDay in a calm yet serious tone,

DogDay turn to CraftyCorn.

"...Alright, let's begin." He said to her, also in a calm yet serious tone,

The two critters got into their positions on the dueling field as they both activated their Duel Disks and shouted, "Duel!" together to start their duel to end this rising drama, before things get worse.

Turn 1

DogDay: 4000

CraftyCorn: 4000

DogDay was first as he looked in his hand. He sets 2 cards face-down in his Spell Trap Zone. DogDay has 3 cards left in his hand.

"I set 2 and my turn." He said,

"That's it?" CraftyCorn wondered, "...Alright, I'll follow along."

"You better…"

CraftyCorn was worried all of a sudden.

"The way he speaks to me…" She said to herself, "I really gotta make him snap out of it, because something is going on!"

CraftyCorn draws to start Turn 2. She played a Quick-Play Spell to start the turn off that she drew at the start of her turn.

"I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Cosmic Cyclone!" She said as her Life Points went down to 3000, "By giving up 1000 of my Life Points, I can banish a Spell or Trap Card on the field!"

CraftyCorn then pointed to the set card on her right.

"Let's banish that card!" She said,

The card was revealed to be a Trap Card called, "Waking The Dragon" as it was banished. DogDay then raised a fist.

"You just triggered the effect of my Trap Card, Waking The Dragon!" He said,

"Huh?" CraftyCorn wondered, "What does it do?"

"When it leaves the field from your card effect and it's now in my Graveyard or banished, I can Special Summon a monster from my Deck or my Extra Deck!"

"Did I just hear Extra Deck?!"

"That's right! And here's a monster I'll be Special Summoning from my Extra Deck since you brought it up!"

DogDay then started to chant.

"Play a melody that will bring forth the dramatic chaos in the apocalypse!" He chanted, "I Special Summon from the Extra Deck via Waking The Dragon, the Level 10 Synchro Monster, Bystial Dis Pater!"

Bystial Dis Pater was Special Summoned onto the field in Attack Position with 3500 ATK Points. CraftyCorn was shocked.

"Oh no…" She said, worried,

"Now who's the coward?" DogDay asked her,

CraftyCorn looked at DogDay after what he said.

"This is how it is, huh?" She wondered, "Alright, I can play around it!"

"Yeah, you better do so." DogDay said,

CraftyCorn was serious again.

"There he is again…" She said to her, "Damn it, DogDay, when is it the right time for me to pull the trigger on you?"

CraftyCorn was left there, trying to figure out what to do next.

"Are you there?" DogDay asked her,

"Yes, I'm here!" CraftyCorn replied, "I'm just thinking, that's all!"

"I wouldn't really view it as thinking. More of zoning out into outer space."

CraftyCorn sighed.

"I'm continuing with my turn." She said as she played a Spell, "By activating Pot Of Greed, to have me draw 2 cards from my Deck."

CraftyCorn drew 2 cards from her Deck. Her hand is now at 6. She sighed heavily.

"Not good." She said, "DogDay just summoned a Synchro Monster with 3500 ATK Points without even Synchro Summoning. How do I beat it?"

CraftyCorn looked at some cards in her hand.

"Hmmm, I guess I'm gonna have to take a risk." She said, "I pray to God that it pays off."

CraftyCorn then played a Spell Card.

"I activate Swords Of Revealing Light!" She said,

5 swords of glowing lights came down from above and blocked DogDay's field.

"For the next 3 turns of your's, you cannot attack." CraftyCorn said,

"That's it?" DogDay asked her, "Is this how you're gonna counter my Bystial Dis Pater? Huh, I expect–"

"--I don't wanna hear another word. I know you're gonna call me a coward as well with how I am."

"Huh? I never said–"

"--Moving on!"

DogDay was getting even more annoyed.

"What are you trying to tell me, Crafty?" He said to himself,

CraftyCorn then sets 3 cards in her Spell and Trap Zone, leaving her with 2 cards in her hand at the end of her turn.

"I set 3 cards face-down and end my turn." She said,

"Alright, whatever this is, I'm not gonna let it slide!" DogDay said as he drew to start Turn 3, "I'll draw!"

Turn 3

DogDay: 4000

CraftyCorn: 3000

DogDay looked at the card he drew and gasped.

"Oh… Ok then." He said as he revealed the card he drew to CraftyCorn, "This will help me win! I activated the Quick-Play Spell, Mystical Space Typhoon!"

"Oh!" CraftyCorn said, worried, or at least she wasn't, but was rather pretending to, "You're not gonna destroy my Swords Of Revealing Light, are you?"

"Why would I?"

"Because if you did destroy my Swords Of Revealing Light, then you would have used Bystial Dis Pater to finish me off in a quick duel."

DogDay clenched his teeth.

"So come on, finish me off!" CraftyCorn said, "Destroy my Swords Of Revealing Light! Or are you too much of a coward to do so?"

"No!" DogDay shouted in response, "In fact, I have something else in my mind!"

DogDay then puts his Mystical Space Typhoon away.

"What?" CraftyCorn wondered, "You're not gonna use it?"

"Just hush up and listen!" DogDay replied with anger,

"Oh, I made him snap…" CraftyCorn said, worried,

DogDay then revealed The Bystial Lubellion.

"I'll send The Bystial Lubellion from my hand to my Graveyard to activate its effect, which lets me add a Bystial monster from my Deck to my Hand!" He said as he sends The Bystial Lubellion to his Graveyard to add Bystial Saronir from his Deck to his Hand,

"Gotcha!" CraftyCorn said, "I activate one of my face-down cards, which is my own Mystical Space Typhoon!"

"WHAT?!"

CraftyCorn's Mystical Space Typhoon was revealed and activated.

"So let's destroy your other face-down card, shall we?" She said,

Mystical Space Typhoon destroyed DogDay's other face-down card, and that card, surprisingly, was another "Waking The Dragon" DogDay had.

"What the?!" CraftyCorn shouted, "Another Waking The Dragon?!"

DogDay was breathing heavily while his teeth were clenched.

"You know something?" He said, with rage, "For someone that I've trusted for almost 2 decades… I never would have thought you would piss me off…"

"D-DogDay?" CraftyCorn said,

DogDay looked at CraftyCorn.

"You've destroyed another copy of Waking The Dragon." He said, "It's like you're testing my will, CraftyCorn…"

CraftyCorn gulped as she was scared.

"Oh no…" She said,

"Alright, you want me to show you that I'm not a coward?!" DogDay shouted, "FINE! HERE GOES!"

DogDay then started to chant as he was about to Special Summon another monster from his Extra Deck through the effect of Waking The Dragon.

"Through light and darkness, unleash the chaos around me that will put an end to all of my worries!" DogDay chanted, "From my Extra Deck, I Special Summon via Waking The Dragon, the Level 10 Synchro Monster, Chaos Angel!"

Chaos Angel was Special Summoned via Waking The Dragon in Attack Position with 3500 ATK Points.

"And when Chaos Angel is Special Summoned, I can banish a card on the field!" DogDay said, "And yes, you're damn right I'm banishing your Swords Of Revealing Light!"

Chaos Angel then used its light and dark powers to banish Swords Of Revealing Light.

"Wait, DogDay, this is too far!" CraftyCorn said, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to set you up! It's just a game!"

"A game, huh?!" DogDay shouted, "Would you want me to kill you in one?!"

"DogDay, please–"

"--SHUT UP! NOT ANOTHER WORD FROM YOU!"

CraftyCorn gasped with what DogDay had shouted at her. She was silent as she looked down, sorrowful.

"...Battle." DogDay said as he was breathing heavily while the Battle Phase started, "...Chaos Angel, attack her directly with Chaotic Judgment and just end this duel already…"

Chaos Angel then went to attack CraftyCorn, but CraftyCorn looked up quickly, clenched her teeth and stopped the attack.

"NO!" She shouted as she sounded like she was about to cry, "I ACTIVATE MAGIC CYLINDER!"

The Trap Card, Magic Cylinder was activated.

"Oh, this card." DogDay said, "You can negate one of my monster's attacks and I take damage equal to that attacking monster's ATK Points.

Chaos Angel's attack went into one of the cylinders and was blasted back at DogDay. DogDay protected himself as he was dealt 3500 points of damage, draining his Life Points to 500. CraftyCorn had a tear coming down one of her eyes as she was breathing heavily while also being serious. She was looking at DogDay who didn't even flinch.

"...Doesn't matter…" He said, "I still have Bystial Dis Pater. Go! Branded Bystial Blast!"

Branded Dis Pater shot out purple energy at CraftyCorn, but CraftyCorn got even more serious.

"Not happening!" She shouted, "Go, Blazing Mirror Force!"

Blazing Mirror Force was activated. DogDay was shocked.

"No!" He shouted, "YOU SET ME UP!"

"I did…" CraftyCorn replied, softly, "It's for the greater good…"

"Th-This card… It can destroy all of my Attack Position monsters like the original Mirror Force."

"And the only difference is that I take damage equal to half of the combined ATK Points of the destroyed monsters…"

"And then you inflict me the same amount…"

CraftyCorn raised a hoof up with another tear coming down from one of her eyes.

"So that's 3500 points of damage dealt to the both of us!" She shouted,

Bystial Dis Pater's attack was reflected by an explosives mirror barrier that exploded on impact, causing CraftyCorn and DogDay to protect themselves from such a powerful effect. Both Bystial Dis Pater and Chaos Angel were destroyed. CraftyCorn was dealt 3500 points of damage from Blazing Mirror Force's effect while DogDay was dealt the same amount that CraftyCorn was dealt with. Both of their Life Points went down to 0, resulting in the duel in a Draw.

After the duel, DogDay slowly got up and tried to help CraftyCorn up.

"Are you ok?" DogDay asked her as he offered her a hand,

CraftyCorn reacted as she slapped DogDay's hand.

"Ow!" He shouted, "What the hell?! I was only trying to help you!"

"I don't… need your help…" CraftyCorn said as she got up by herself and turned around, "Ever since you've been spying on us only because CatNap was with Baba… You've changed… What happened?"

"I did not change. I was only trying to help out Poppy and Trey on the kidnappings that happened in Sunshine Valley!"

"Well you shouldn't have pointed your fingers at anyone that may or may not be connected!"

DogDay clenched his fists.

"I don't care…" He said, "I still have my suspicions on her! I don't care if she's connected to those kidnappings or not! Do you remember when–"

"--Those are lies!" CraftyCorn said as she was tearing up, "You've been lying to us about her before I was even sacrificed for God's sake!"

"Lies or not, I was only trying to protect you guys!"

"Well you weren't protecting her!"

"So this is how it is, huh? You're gonna be with someone that's–"

"--I can't take it anymore!"

CraftyCorn then turned around with tears in her eyes and punched DogDay in the face.

"YOU ALMOST PUT ALL OF US IN DANGER!" She shouted,

DogDay was rubbing his face.

"Who cares if I was putting you guys in danger!" He shouted, "You were chatting with her friends! That's all I need to know that I shouldn't trust you guys!"

"We never knew…" CraftyCorn said as she was still tearing up, "And this is the thanks I get from a friend that saved the world with me? You just let your ego get in the way after those kidnappings get in the way!"

"I never even have an ego! You think I let a best friend like you be forced to take part in this?! I didn't!"

CraftyCorn turned away.

"Yeah, turn away!" DogDay said, "See if I care! Even if you did help me, you wouldn't have been much of a coward without your zen garden involved because you left that in the past! Hell, I don't think your zen garden is in need anymore!"

CraftyCorn didn't say a word as she continued to sob.

"...Crafty?" DogDay asked her, concerned,

"Is this how you treat me?" CraftyCorn asked him, softly and full of sorrow, "Is how you treat CatNap? Is this how you treat us? This is how you feel about me, huh? Me, a coward? Well, here's what I thought about you now…"

CraftyCorn, shaking, turned around and pulled the trigger.

"I HATE YOU!!!" She shouted at his face,

DogDay gasped with what CraftyCorn had shouted at him, in front of his face. A bad memory of what his mother had said to him got to him. CraftyCorn then ran away without even saying another word. DogDay got back to the present moment and turned to CraftyCorn.

"Wait, Crafty!" DogDay shouted, "CRAFTY!!"

CraftyCorn ignored him as she ran into the woods of Verygreen Park. DogDay was breathing heavily and was almost shaking.

"I knew this would happen." A voice said to him,

DogDay turned to see Poppy and gasped.

"Poppy!" He shouted, "N-No! This isn't what it looks like! I swear!"

Poppy then slapped DogDay in the face as hard as she could, which also caused another bad memory or two to occur between DogDay and his mother.

"You're a big disappointment." She said with a stern look, "Some friend you are to me and your own critter crew… Don't even think about coming to see me again."

Poppy walked away. DogDay tried to stop her after returning to the present moment, but it was too late. She was out of Verygreen Park and on her way back home. DogDay looked at his own hands as tears came down from his eyes and onto them.

"What have I done?" He said as he got to his knees and punched the ground with one of his fists while covering his eyes with the other, "FUCK!!!"

DogDay was on the ground and in the middle of Verygreen Park, crying his eyes out. It was at this moment, CraftyCorn's attempt to pull the trigger on him worked out well. Someone else was behind a tree, watching DogDay cry it all out. That someone would then make an evil smile, knowing that something was done right.
