Sorry for the huge hiatus for so long. I'd been busy outside of Hetalia, such as IRL problems, other artworks, etcs. But the good news is that's I'm back. So here's chapter eleven.
Chapter Eleven: Sweden's Ghost
Peter and Lily walked through the forest as night began to fall, holding each other's hands. "Isn't this a great place, Lily?"
Lily nodded, "It is beautiful," she agreed. "But you don't understand. You've been alive all this time…why didn't you come back to Country Town?" she asked
Peter paused for a while, and went over to a tree. "Well, I just needed to get out on my own. Live my own life. So I did, and it's great!"
Lily sighed, "We've really needed you at home"
Peter snorted, "No one needs me"
Yes, we do! You're the nation leader" Lily said forcefully
"Lily, we've been through this. I'm not the leader, Ivan is." Peter said
Lily sat down next to Peter, "Peter, he let the evil nations take over the Country Town"
Peter is shocked about that news, "What?" asked Peter before his eyes widening
Lily frowned and looked at the ground as she remembered the suffering of her friends, "Everything's destroyed! There's no food, no water, no shelter, and no money; He's slowly starting to turn our beloved town into a wasted winterland. Peter, if you don't do something soon, everyone in our town could die!"
Peter looked away, "I can't go back," he said
"Why?" Lily asked
Peter got up, "You wouldn't understand," he muttered
"What wouldn't I understand?" Lily asked firmly, slightly hurt that her best friend didn't trust her
Peter paused before shook his head, "No, no, no, it's doesn't matter; Hakuna Matata"
Lily tilted her head in confusion, "What?" Lily asked squinting
"Hakuna Matata," Peter repeated, "It's something I learned here." Peter sat up on the hammock. "Look, sometimes, bad things happen…"
"Peter!" Lily exclaimed
"And there's nothing you can do about it. So why worry?" Peter finished
"Because it's your responsibility!" Lily answered
Peter then glared down at Lily and frowned, "Well, what about you? You just left?"
"I left to find help! And I found you, Don't you understand? You're our only hope." said Lily, praying
"Sorry" Peter said plainly
"What's happened to you?" Lily asked, "You're not the Peter I remember"
"You're right, I'm not, Now are you satisfied" Peter asked coldly
"No, I'm just disappointed" said Lily with much coldness
Peter frown, "You know, you're starting to sound like my father
"Good! At least one of us does" Lily bitterly replied
Peter expression's turn to rage and faces Lily with a gritted teeth "Listen, You think you can just show up and tell me how to live my life? You don't even know what I've been through" he yelled as he get off of the hammock and start walking away from Lily, her only micronation best friend he had
"I would if you'd just tell me" Lily yelled back
"Forget it!
"FINE!" the two micronations (or in this case, big micronations?) storms offs with a scoff as they go in their separate ways
"She's wrong, I can't go back. What would it prove anyway? It won't change anything. You can't change the past." Peter stops walking while looking down. Then he looked up at the sky, looking sad. "You said you'd always be there for me…but you're not!...and it's because of me" his face began to tear up as he sobbed.
"It's my fault." Then Peter then heard a tune. Then he peered to see who was singing it, And then, he saw a young (but elderly) Chinese man with a ponytail with Chinese clothing with an overworn sleeve. He sings through the forest while Peter looks irritated.
"Since the beginning of the heavens and earth, countless soldiers spun history by overlapping their lives, aru!"
Peter then looked even more irritated as he rolled his eyes as he looked away from him. But Yao's singing still annoyed him as he danced around in the branches (don't ask how he managed to get up in the tree). So Peter decided to leave for peace as he crossed the log and decided to sit, and start staring at the reflection on the puddle. That is, until Yao splashed water on Peter's face while still singing.
"In front of the Great Wall, the sun "rises" again, aru!"
Peter has enough of this, "Would you cut that out?!" he asked sharply while heading back to the forest.
Yao jumped down from the trees and picked up his trusty bamboo stick "I can't, it'll come right back, aru" joked Yao and started following him.
"Creepy Chinese bloke" Peter muttered and Yao jumped right in front of him
"Would you stop following me? Who are you?" Peter asked with an annoyed tone
"Aiya, the better question is, who are you, aru?" Yao answered
Peter tried to say something, but he stopped himself, "I thought I know, But now I'm not so sure"
"Well, I know who you are, aru; come closer, it's a secret, aru" Yao said as he lean to Peter's ears "Nǐ shì zhōngguó rén, wǒ bùshì!" he whispered and walked away laughing
Peter shook his head and groaned, "Ugh, enough already. What does that supposed to mean, anyways?"
Yao turned back to him, "It's mean you're Chinese…and I'm not" he said and jokingly smiled
Peter begins to walked away, "I think you might be a little confused" said Peter, pointing to Yao's short, yet-confusing riddle
"Wrong!," said Yao who magically appeared out of nowhere, in front of Peter, jabbing his index's finger to Peter's chest, "I'm not the one who's confused, you don't even know who you are, aru"
Peter pushed Yao's finger away, "Oh, and I suppose you know."
"Aiya, Of course I do; You're Berwald's boy" said Yao
Peter gasped and stopped in his tracks, and turned around with Yao smiling
"Bye" said Yao as he ran off with his bamboo sticks on his shoulder.
"Hey, wait!" Peter ran after him. He ran for a few hours before finding Yao sitting on a boulder waiting for him.
"You knew my father?" Peter panted, and Yao shook his head, "Nope, I know your father"
Peter tensed up and started to confess to Yao, "I hate to tell you this..but he…died a long time ago."
"Nope! Wrong again, aru!" said Yao, running towards a dark patch of trees, "He's alive! C'mon, I'll show you to him. You'll follow me and I'll know the way, aru." he said motioning for Peter to follow him
Peter ran after Yao. Wow, despite being 4000 years old, he can surely run really fast for his age. Peter was trying to dodge branches along the way.
"Would you slow down?" Peter shouted
Then Yao halted him to a stop. Yao hushed him and walked to the pool. Peter slowly walked closer to the pool on his knees as he peered into a pool of clear water, only with his reflection, not Berwald's reflections.
"That's not my father. That's just my reflection," he sighed
Yao shook his head, "No, look harder" he said, directing Peter to look very close to the water. Yao lighting touched the water lightly with his index fingers as the water ripples and morph Peter's reflection into Berwald's, as Peter' eyes widened as he now know who is he
"He live in you," said Yao
Peter stared at the water, until a familiar Swedish voice was heard in the sky "Peter…" it said. Peter looked up at the sky; He knew that voice before. "Father…?" he asked
The large cloud rolled in the sky towards him and a large space in the middle took the form of a Swedish, middle-aged man walking towards him. The figure stopped and the features of Berwald slowly appeared.
"Peter, y'u h've f'rg'tt'n m'" Berwald said sadly
Peter got up with his feet, and shook his head, "No, how could I?" he asked
"Y'u h've f'rg'tt'n wh' y'u 're, and so f'rg'tt'n me". Answered Berwald, losing some of the features, leaving only his head. "Look ins'd' y'urs'lf, Peter, Y'u ar' m're th'n wh't y'u h've b'c'me." His face then turn serious, "Y'u m'st t'ke y'ur pl'c' as n't'on'l l'ad'r"
"How can I go back?" Peter asked, "I'm not who I used to be."
The cloud now revealing Berwald's true spirit as the cloud circled around him, with a strong wind blowing, "R'm'b'r wh' y'u ar', y'u ar' 'y s'n, 'nd th' 'ne tr'e k'ng" Peter stares at Berwald's cloud reflection in awe, and started breathing heavily, with tears coming out of his eyes.
"R'm'b'r wh' y'u' ar'." The clouds started to fade away, including Berwald himself. But Peter tries to chase it.
"No, please! Don't leave me!" Peter yelled
"R'm'b'r…" Berwald final's word before disappearing, leaving Peter alone, crying
"Father…..don't leave me" said Peter with a sad tone. He sat down for a while, until a breeze blew into Peter's hair. After a moment, Yao approaches from behind Peter.
Yao said, "Aiya, what was that? Ooooh, the weather. Pbbt! Very peculiar, don't you think, aru?
Peter then looked up at the sky, "Yeah, look like the winds are changing" said the thoughtful nation.
"Aiya, change is good!" said Yao
"But, it's not easy. I know what I had to do," said the encouraging Peter, but stop for a minute. "But ...going back means I'll have to face my past. I've been running from it for so long." Yao then smack him with a staff, Peter now has a bump on his head
"Ow! Jeez! What was that for?!" Peter shouted
"It's doesn't matter, it's in the past" Yao answered
"Yeah, but it's still bloody hurts" Peter rubbed his head
"Oh, yes, the past can hurt, aru. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it" Yao tries to hit Peter with the staff again. Luckily, Peter managed to dodge it. "Aiya!, you see? So, Peter, what are you gonna do?
"Well, first things first, I'm gonna take your staff of yours" Peter grabbed the staff and tossed it in the grass
"NOOO! Not my staff" He managed to grab it, but Peter wasn't here. He turned around and saw Peter running.
"Hey! Where are you going, aru?" Yao asked
"I'm going back!" Peter answered
Yao shouted with glee, while saying "Go on", and "Get out of here!". Things are looking bright for the Country Town, the future king is returning home, and Peter will need to defeat the dreaded Soviet Union himself, Ivan.
A/N: Welp, this is the shortest chapter I'd ever wrote. But idk what else to say. But I will said is that I can't wait to write the battle scene. So stay tuned for Chapter 12
