Hello! Short note from the author here.
Thank you for reading this far, till chapter 3. It means a lot to me, especially since there aren't any reviews on the story yet so most people would probably think of this story as uninteresting and pass it over.
That's all. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy! And if you do, please review! :D
Chapter 3- Family From Fiction
And that was how I learned I was in the Rick Riordan universe.
Well, actually, no. Kane could be anyone's last name. The biggest clue-ins were my family members' names, and the occasional magic that they did, like fixing a broken plate and torching an attacking griffin.
Normal, everyday magic.
My father's name was Amos Kane. That was the first thing to raise a red flag. When I finally met my aunt and uncle, Ruby and Julius Kane, I finally accepted it.
Because why not? It's the world where magical police capture gods, with loads of monsters for breakfast, and nine other worlds squeezed in.
Again, why not?
Oh, I said the Rick Riordan universe earlier because apparently Magnus Chase, Percy Jackson, and the Kane siblings all existed in the same universe?
The ultimate mythology crossover.
Where was I? Ah, my new family members.
My father, Amos Kane; my Uncle, Uncle Julius (I'm so going to call him Uncle July); and my Aunt, Aunt Ruby.
Apparently Carter and Sadie aren't born yet? I don't even see a bump on Aunt Ruby's stomach. Oh gods, please don't tell me I'll be like 10 years older than them or something.
Nah. I'll be fine. Let's just be happy I'm in a universe I know about, even if some things might try to kill me later.
"Little Nyssa!" Aunt Ruby squealed when she first saw two-month-old-me. Unfortunately, I wasn't old enough to travel yet, meaning my Aunt and Uncle had to come and visit us in the Brooklyn Mansion instead.
Hold up, will I be raised here with all this magic around me?
"Ruby, you'll startle her," Uncle Julius smiled down at me. I gurgled happily and smiled back, glad my eyesight was clear again.
"She never gets startled," Amos (Dad, I need to start calling him Dad), bragged. "She only cries when she needs food or a change, and never in the night."
True. I'd been regulating my sleep schedule so I didn't bother him. The others will probably be suspicious when they have Carter, a normal baby, but thankfully I don't have to deal with that right now.
I'm just confused, because there wasn't a Nyssa Kane in the books. It's like I'm an OC in a fanfiction or something. ...I wouldn't put it past that goddess.
"Amazing!" Aunt Ruby said. "But you still shouldn't raise her alone, Amos. You're... um..."
Dad's face darkened. "I'm what?"
"A single father." she decided to step up and say it. "Even though Julius and I don't have any children yet, we all know that a single father can't take care of a baby girl alone." Dad's face softened when she mentioned me. "Nevertheless, we'll be fine. You can visit us, or in a few months, we can visit you. If I managed her for two months I think I can manage her for a while."
Uncle Julius quickly stepped forward before Aunt Ruby could argue. "That's really alright, Amos, but at least let us help while we stay here." he reached out a finger to me and I quickly grabbed it with my tiny hand.
I used to be Katarina White, a normal girl in a normal world. Now I'm Nyssa Kane, daughter of an honest-to-gods (pun intended) magician in a world I thought was fiction.
Well, I thought as I looked at the smiling faces above me, I guess this is my family now.
...
Though I really do wonder what on Earth is going on in my world, and why that person's assistant blessed Laura.
