Fate Whispered to the warrior 'You cannot withstand the storm' and the warrior whispers back 'I am the storm'

Dawnya blinked Beary, brushing the feathers from tickling her face as she slowly regained movement. The vibrating sands surrounding them having died down – instead of a deafening roar it was a low rumple. Somewhere they had survived the stampede unscathed...

Sky blue hues darted about the scene, to her comrades.

Well, mostly unscathed. Dawnay watching the princess hold back tears over the duck who had bravely taken the brunt of the horse's charge. An honourable move – in her eyes. She moved forwards looking over the duck – she didn't know enough medical stuff to help ease the creature's pain.

Not that they really had any time to do so...

The war had begun – they needed to hurry if there wanted to save lives.

She could see the determination on the princesses face even as the sorrow for her dear friend wanted to break free. "I learned something aboard that ship! To NEVER GIVE UP!" she yelled in conviction, riling herself up as well as the duck before her.

"Vivi!" a familiar voice called; Dawnya turned towards the newcomer arriving on a horse...

Where did the horse come from?

Dawnya's blue hues narrowed dangerously, her body shifting to stand in-between the princess and the new comer. Usopp.

"Hop on!" the male called, "forget the bird" Stike two in Dawnya eyes, usopp would never say that. "We have to stop this battle before it too late"

A hand drifted to the hilt of the sheathed sword. Ready for the moment – as realisation flickered in the princesses' eyes.

"Usopp? How do I know you're really who you say you are?"

"Are you doubting me? Look!" the fake usopp showed his bandaged arm – not what was underneath it.

The duck moved, just as she released the sword from its sheath. Sweeping in a wide arch across the sands between them. The long blade causing a rift in the sands – dust bellowing upwards and the fake jumped backwards to avoid the viciously long blade.

She turned the dust cloud starting to settle as she followed quickly behind the duck and princess. She sprant – the wind unable to hold her back as bare feet barely touched the sandy ground. One hand holding the nodachi firmly in to the side ready for action.

As behind them...

Mr. 2 exploded from the sand cloud, with a swan like dash.

The game of cat and mouse just beginning.

Using the sands around the tip of tobutori long blade swept about, sending sand particulars to the man, in the hopes to slow him down a few seconds. To aid the injured running duck in its progresses – it being the only thing to come to mind to aid her mission. Fighting would be more preferable but the need from the princess to get to the location was higher than the need to fight.

For the moment anyway.

"Don't overexert yourself karoo! You're in no shape to run!" the princess muttered, eyeing for duck friend in worry.

"I told you; you can't escape me!" the Okama yelled only to eat another face full of sand.

"I said wait!" he yelled, spluttering around a mouthful of sand, "I'm going to eat you!" he sung the last sentence, causing a shiver to go down Dawnya's spine what did he mean by eat? Was he a cannibal?

She twisted on her balls of her feet, body fulling turning in an arch – concentrating on the blade she felt the wind still for a instate before following the path of the swing sword. A powerful gust of wind headed towards the running male – the drifting sand following with it. The okama froze for a second- suddenly reminded of this boss as the sands slammed into him.

She contracted on the man, and delaying him, buying them a precious few second as the princess argued with her duck.

And then the pair was running up the wall...

The okama stopped once again in surprised allowing the long haired ravenette to rush ahead. The war had made it into the city – she might as well make a path. Blue hues darted towards the duck. Internally, wondering how long the duck could last.

"You can do it..." she muttered to the duck as she put on a burst of speed. As she weightless followed and sped pass the pair. The wind once again following behind the women – adding the duck giving it the extra boost it needed under its wings.

"What..." Vivi muttered looking up the blue hair whipping past her face with the sudden gust of wind. She would question the sight of the quite swordswomen running past with the wind at her back, at the site of shinning blue hues. But now wasn't the time as the sound of clashing swords and gun shoots echoed in her mind.

Dawnya powered though the last step, landing softly on the tops of the wall. With a quick swept of the sky-blue hues, she determined what she didn't to do. Using the nodachi, she created a space – no one, rebel nor guard wanted to enter. A perfect place for the princess and duck to land.

This was more her forte.

Re-sheathing the light blade, Dawnya used the hilt and sheath to easily deter the more curious individuals as the panting duck landed heavily behind her, the princess on its back. So close yet so far from their destination.

"Karoo, can you make it through this mob?" the princess croaked, moved by the death surrounding them.

Dawnya stared blanky at the pair, unmoved by the sight of death and destruction. She had seen it more times had anyone would have like.

"Quack!"

"We have to find Chaka! Head for the palace! Dawnya, can you keep pace and help?"

"Of cause" she muttered, just as a bug appeared behind them.

"There you are!" Mr 2 had finally joined them up the wall.

The group of three ran, Mr.2 following in hot pursuit.

Dawnya did well it blocking the pushing foes out of the path of the princess. There was only a flaw in her plan. I flaw she hadn't accounted for. Her own... devil fruit.

She heard the shoot of the gun, felt the movement on the air. Eyes wide as the bullet travel is slow-Mo towards her. Blue hues following it as the bullet entre her stomach – only for no pain to hit her system. No discomfort. No blood. Time seems to sped up once again. The swordswoman twisted around on her heels. As the princess screamed in horror, "karoo, you've been shot!"

Realisation fall on her like a bucket of water – the bullet that passed through her hit the ones she was supposed to protect.

Her devil fruit though had protected her automatically had led to those about her getting hurt in turn... she frowned under the mask, watching as the determined duck gritted is teeth? Did ducks even have teeth? And continued to push through the pain.

Following its lead, she'd push the thought to the back of her mind and continued on, being more mindful of the stray bullets had flown in the area.

But the duck could only go soo far on its wobbly legs. Dawnya slowed down as karoo took its final steps, too much in pain and tried to continue any further. It had run its course. The ravenette placed herself in-between the princess and the agent. As MR. 2 voice rang out – the okama closing in fast.

"We need to go Vivi" she glanced toward the princess, who was tried not to cry as the duck spoke – not that she could understand what the duck was saying.

She gripped the blades handle tightly, blue hues darkening as the breeze surrounding them picked up, the particulars of sand dancing ever soo slightly in the wind. Finally, she would be able to let loose.

Only for fate to have other plans.

"Hahaha! Stupid duck! Don't interfere or I'll do you in too!"

WHAM!

Dawnya blinked in surprise, as a tornado of feathers flew at sped pass the group slamming straight into the strangely dress male. Knocking the agent off his feet, it was two other ducks and... Dawnya glanced towards the suit wearing blonde.

It seems her fight would have to wait.

To be continued...
