Fate Whispered to the warrior 'You cannot withstand the storm' and the warrior whispers back 'I am the storm'
The city chattered with a new found life, the people working together to rebuild broken building and tidy the ruins of the capital. High in the highs a bird flew, it cawing to its friends as it flew overhead a smoking blonde and chatting longnose male – the pair dress differently to the rest of the city populace.
The bird continued to fly, storing to the centre of the city were a larger palace like building stood. It flew towards the gardens, choosing to perk in the branches and shadows of a tree; the one being able to survive the heart of the heat. Below in the shadows of the trunk stood a green haired male, the male seemed to be training – lifting heavy weights despite his bandaged torso and sweat seeping through his scalp.
The bird blinked, black orbs for eyes shifting as the bird hopped from branch to branch. Taking in the shadowy figure sitting at the top of the building. Sitting dangerously close to the edge before a commotion inside the building drew the creature's action.
A ginger haired teen with the name of Nami.
Inside the palace, in a larger room Nami had flopped onto the bed. Surrounding her was a number of bags – the money greedily pirate, ignoring the bags in turn glancing about the room. In the corner sat at the desk sat chopper the litter reindeer going over pieces of paper. Another doctor and Vivi watching with amazement (former) and amusement(latter).
Next to the desk, taking up most of the room was a number of beds. 7 to be specific though only one was in use. A certain straw-hat wearing ravenette still slept soundly in the bed. All but Luffy was awake. Luffy, according to chopper and the other doctors would hopefully awaken any time now.
Though it was one specific bed that drew the teens attention. A bed that hadn't been slept in seem the ginger that woken up.
"Vivi?" the ginger called out to the princess gaining the blue hairs female attention. "Have you seen Dawnya?"
"Sort of, the guards say she's on the roof ... but" Vivi started worry lacing her voice.
"But what?" Nami crossed her arms, looking closely at the blue haired princess.
"she'd hasn't received any medical help, and-"
"What? Why?!" Nami exclaimed, "chopper!" she called, looking for the reindeer in the room, past the empty beds, to the desk and the one still occupied bed stood the pirates doctor who jumped at the sudden shouting of his name.
"Nani?" the small creature ran over, confusion on his face. "Apparently Dawnya never got check out. She didn't leave, did she? No, you said was on the roof. Tell us what happen Vivi?"
"Well, the nurses were about to change her and do a check-up. She was the last person as she was the last to go to sleep. So, it was deemed better, seeing out she didn't look injured. They changed her pants, took off those plates but as soon as they when to change the top half. Dawnya woke up."
"Yeah..." the group glanced towards what would have been Dawnya's back on it laid the cleaned baggy trousers and light metal plates. The bed made, like no one had slept in it for a while.
"She panicked, from what Millie was saying. Jumped onto her feet, fleeing out the window with her sword. Like what she did the first time she meets us. Millie was saw the scars around her ankles. She knew what they were from"
"from"
"Those scars are from shackles," Vivi admitted, "slave shackles," the words Dawnya was probably an ex-slave was left unsaid.
"It...it would make sense. Like we did think that maybe..." Nami muttered, a depressed feeling overcoming her, she was similar to Dawnya. Alrong was similar to a tyrant. He made them buy their lives. But she could still move, do what she wanted within reason.
That was different to being chained and given orders. What had she gone through? And if you weren't good enough, you weren't needed or even on a whim, either sold to the next person and sent to the afterlife.
"Poor Dawnya" mutter chopper before nodding. "Well, I'm her doctor! We're her friends, she can count on us and if she wants to tell us, we're here for her!"
Chopper turned, gather all of his supplies that were scattered over the desk putting them into his bag. "Vivi, how to you get to the roof?"
"Oh chopper, give her this!" Nami eyes brighten in realisation, the ginger haired teen rummaged through her clothing throwing a similar stye top to what Dawnya usually wore but navy blue and matching skirt with white clouds on.
Chopper nodded; fist clenched a determine look on his face. The little creature was all fired up.
At the top of the building sat Dawnya, her legs folded under her bum. She fiddled with the shorts as she looked down to the ground. Watching zoro train under the heat of the sun. The male training determinedly while injured – his body bandaged to stop the wounds from reopening – but she had noted at least twice the blood seep through the white cloth.
She couldn't help but stay away.
She'd panicked. Panicked being undressed by the unknown, panic that they might have saw it. She couldn't help but flee in her panicked state. But even now, now she knew that they were nurses just trying to help, she didn't want to go back down.
Embarrassed. She was embarrassed by her action and choose to stay up high. She wanted to make sure the people who saved her were safe and sound. Before heading off.
A frown tugged at the corner of her lips; she didn't want to leave. She wanted to stay with the crew to join them as the freest people there were! She didn't care about being wanted. She just wanted to be free to do whatever she wanted, and whenever.
Free like the birds flying in the sky.
But she didn't know if the crew would want her and her baggage.
It was not a conversation she wanted to start.
"Dawnya!" a childlike voice panted behind her. She glanced, the mask letting out a stream of air as she spotted the panting chopper – the small create having taken the challenge to get the roof. (It consisted of as least 3 ladders, and a number of stairs to get to her spot)
"Chopper..." she muttered quietly, standing and walking towards the reindeer.
"Sit," the small creature pointed to beside him, as he unloaded his bag. "I heard you haven't been checking at all"
"Ah... yes, I just was tried" she nodded, sitting beside the pirate.
"As your doctor and friend, it's my job to check on you" the doctor grinned. Stilling the female at his words hit home.
Friend.
The words bring warmth to her chest, friend, he deemed her a friend. Maybe, just maybe the crew would let her travel with them a little more.
"Do you want to talk about it?" the doctor spoke as he did her checks. She hummed, avoiding one contact. "The nurses informed us that you panicked apron waking up"
"I did not know at the time they were nurses" she admitted, "I do not like others changing me, I have things I rather not others see" she could feel the burning sensation on her shoulder blade, the phantom pains scorning her body.
"The scars..." chopper muttered quietly pausing in his work.
"I care not for the scars." Dawnya turned towards the doctor flexing her wrist wear a faint slivery line of scars rested. They weren't as prominent as the ones on her ankles but they were they. "My scars shows that I survived, they help me grow and be strong. I cannot deny them as without my I wouldn't be me nor here today. I cannot deny my past, its part I just need to accept it and grow from its"
She could see the awe in the little doctor's eyes as he stares up at her a grin growing on his face.
"I'm glad, do know that if you ever need to talk about anything. The crew are here. We are your friends, you are one of us." the doctor declared, before turning to his check-up.
One of us... the warmth grew, one of us? He truly felt she was one of them... the lips under her mask crept up. Chopper's smile seemed to grow as he noted the slight crinkles by her eyes – she was smiling under the mask he could tell.
After a few minutes of silence, the doctor nodded, "here Nami gave me these for you to change into, after we can discuss your health, I have a plan for you"
She took the clothing, noting the top was a similar fashion to the one she wore. She nodded, making quick work of changing into the items. She fiddled with the skirt, having never really wore should a thing before. The skirt had a long cut, she hadn't noticed before making it easier to move it. "I'm good"
She cued for chopper to turn back around. "Great, right I have noticed you are still a bit underweight for my liking. But I am unsure how your devil fruit causing changes to your body. How come you never mention about the devil fruit?"
"It never came up, you didn't ask"
"I see, well I would ask, as I'm sure everyone wants to know about it. Saves you from telling us twice. You, like everyone is on a resting period. No fighting, no training" the doctor ordered.
She tilted her head, "no training? All of us?"
"yes"
"You know zoro been training all morning..." she deadpanned, pointing to the edge of the building.
"What!?" chopper scurried to the edge of the building. Peering down to see a training zoro. "Okay let's go, I gotta scold zoro"
She nodded, scooping the small doctor up with his belongings, and stepping off the edge of the stonework. "What! Wait! Dawnya!" the cries of chopper followed the pair downwards towards the ground. The wind whipping about them as the pair descended.
She landed gently on the floor, letting the doctor jump out of her arms. "No training means no jumping off building you understand!" the doctor scolded before turning to a zoro who'd placed his weights down watching the pair with amusement in his eyes. The amusement was soon reversed as the doctor turned onto the swordsman, scolding the taller male for training and complaining about having to redo the older teens stitches. Again.
She couldn't help the single giggle that escaped her lips at the sight. The warmth settling in her chest as she followed the doctor and green haired swordman inside the palace.
It was starting to feel like...
