Pokémon: Pokédex no Isekai

Chapter Thirty-nine: Family History

The Big Beauty was parked next to the dojo located in the Isle of Armor, a part of the Galar region. Dawn and the other reborn trainers were inside of the dojo, speaking to Mustard, the master of the Dojo. With Mustard were his wife Honey and their son Hyde. "Ah, so you four children seek to further your understanding of Pokémon themselves," Mustard remarked, "Hence why you all had made the effort to come out here to the Isle of Armor."

Nodding once, Dawn replied, "We hope that we won't be causing any trouble, sir."

Mustard, the air he gave off casual and understanding, waved a hand dismissively. "It is no trouble, young lady," Mustard replied reassuringly, "At least nowhere near as troublesome as having those Team Heart fellows wander in and out of the Isle of Armor as they please." Dawn could tell that the fact that the Isle of Armor was part of the Team Heart Empire really annoyed Mustard.

"Has Team Heart done anything to mess up how things here in the Isle of Armor run?" Trip asked.

Nodding once, Mustard replied, "They had started developing the Isle of Armor to be more hospitable to humans. You'll find a lot of man-made structures here, all of them looking to have been set up recently. The wild Pokémon native to the Isle of Armor have been pushed back to the very edges of what wild areas are left as a result."

"According to dad," Hyde spoke up, "Similar development has occurred over in the Crown Tundra as well. Team Heart is clearly trying to settle the wilds and make them suitable for human habitation."

"But that'll screw with the wild Pokémon native to those areas," Kenny said, "Like what your dad says is happening here. There's also no telling how the rest of the environment as a whole sill stand up to Team Heart's pro-human developme-"

"Fu!"

Kenny was cut off when he and the others heard a Pokémon cry out just now. Their attention was turned to seeing a Kubfu come dashing up to them. The Kubfu looked at the reborn trainers for a few moments before settling on Dawn. Kubfu then entered a fighting stance and looked as if it was wanting to challenge Dawn.

"Oh, this little one," Honey said, "It has been training hard to deal with a terror in the forests on the Isle of Armor here, the forests being one of the few areas on the Isle of Armor not yet having any development from Team Heart. The terror in the forests is the reason why even Team Heart doesn't wanna bother with going into the forests."

"...A terror in the forests, you say," Trip remarked.

Mustard nodded in the affirmative. "From what I figure, that terror is not amused at all with humans, due to Team Heart coming in and developing the Isle of Armor for human habitation more, pushing a lot of the native wild Pokémon out of where they normally live. Although Kubfu didn't start trying to deal with the terror until after it caused trouble for students of my dojo, until then the terror had just been harassing Team Heart."

Looking down at Kubfu, Dawn said, "I'm... guessing it sees me as a potential solution to the problem of that forest terror, and wants my help in beating it. But Kubfu first wants to test me." Kubfu nodded vigorously to what all Dawn had just said.

Smiling in wry amusement, Mustard said, "Well now, I think it's best that you accept Kubfu's challenge, young lady." Dawn nodded in agreement; although the reborn trainers DID get Urshifu registered as caught thanks to touch trades with Serena, they DON'T yet have Kubfu registered as caught. Additionally, the reborn trainers having an Urshifu of their own, assuming Dawn can catch Kubfu and evolve it, would be useful.

And so it was that Dawn accepted Kubfu's challenge, although Kenny bowed out of watching, saying how he wanted to go 'check something out'. Thus only Trip and Mina were around to watch as Dawn battled Kubfu to earn its respect. Things were moved out to the battlefield behind Mustard's dojo so that there was as much space as possible for the battle between Dawn and Kubfu.

...

Kubfu stood opposite of Dawn on the battlefield, waiting for her to send out whatever Pokémon she had in mind to use against it. Dawn, taking a Net Ball up, expanded it and tossed it up while crying out, "Alright, Zancrow! Let's get goin'!" Coming out to do battle with Kubfu was Zancrow, the named Volcarona that belonged to Dawn.

"Oh, I see," Trip said to Mina as they stood off to the side watching everything, "Volcarona as a bug type resists the fighting moves of Kubfu. There's also how Dawn had taught her Volcarona how to use Psychic."

Mina nodded once in understanding. "Yeah, Dawn's playing it smart here."

Without much further fanfare, the battle kicked off with Kubfu giving off a cry before it ran in a straight line towards Zancrow, clearly aiming to hit it with a physical attack of some kind. However, Dawn pointed right ahead at Kubfu and said, "Zancrow, use Psychic on Kubfu!"

The named Volcarona conjured a telekinetic power and cast it at Kubfu, blasting right on into it and sending it reeling back until it hit the battlefield and laid there, clearly in no condition to continue the battle. Weakly, Kubfu got back up to its feet, surprising Dawn. But then it got down on its hands and knees and bowed its head to Dawn.

"It seems that Kubfu has acknowledged your strength and is pledging itself to you," Mustard called out to Dawn, "Go on and try catching it." Dawn, seeing that Kubfu was coming willingly, took out and used a standard Pokéball to catch Kubfu, successfully catching it. Dawn then collected the Pokéball that held her newly caught Kubfu to scan it with her Pokédex.

It was a boy and had a jolly nature, plus the Inner Focus ability. "You gonna name it, Dawn?" asked Trip as he and Mina came up to congratulate Dawn on catching Kubfu.

Nodding once, Dawn said, "Yeah, I'm thinking that Fei Long would be a good name for him."

...

After things on the battlefield were settled, Dawn plus Trip and Mina were brought back into the dojo by Mustard and his family. Inside, Mustard presented Dawn with two scrolls, one with black trim and one with blue trim. "These are the Scroll of Darkness and Scroll of Water respectively," said Mustard, "Kubfu can evolve into Urshifu by being exposed to the contents of these scrolls. But only one scroll may be used, and the one used determines if Urshifu will go down the path of Single Strike or the path of Rapid Strike."

"We met up with our bud Serena, the Champion of Kalos," Mina began. Mustard looked a little bit concerned. "This was before Kalos recently fell to the Team Heart Empire," Mina said, "Well anyway, Serena owns an Urshifu."

"Yes, hers followed the path of Single Strike," Mustard said, a hint of concerned grimness in his tone.

"You're concerned about the path of Single Strike?" Trip asked, catching the hints in Mustard's tone.

Gently shaking his head, Mustard said, "No, I'm concerned about Serena herself. She is indeed a very strong trainer. I believe the number of trainers in the world capable of seriously standing up to her in a no holds barred battle can be counted with just the digits on one's hands, and chances are not all of said digits will be needed." Looking to the reborn trainers, Mustard said, "And now Serena has to march to the orders of Team Heart."

"I actually heard that the authority of the Team Heart Empire has begun issuing demands towards the Alola region for them to turn over terrorists supposedly being harbored on Alolan soil," spoke up Hyde, making the others all turn to look at him, "Many people are wondering why Team Heart isn't trying to invade Alola right away."

Dawn, Trip, and Mina were shocked to hear that the Team Heart Empire was threatening the Alola region due to Ericson's Company. It was also clear that Team Heart currently had no idea that all of Ericson's Company had been smuggled out of Alola and over to Sinnoh for safety, and Dawn was very much thankful that no-one had blown the cover yet.

But Alola was still in danger, and if Team Heart decided to push the matter, it was only a matter of time before Team Heart found out that the people they sought to extradite back to the Empire to face punishment weren't in Alola anymore. Dawn made a mental note to have things go back over to Sinnoh the moment that the Galar Pokédex was completed; she had a nagging feeling that things are gonna get real unfriendly real quick.

After Dawn had made that mental note, Kenny came walking back into the dojo. "What up, peeps of the dojo?" Kenny greeted, "What did I miss?"

"Dawn caught Kubfu and Mustard is presenting her with two different scrolls," Trip explained, "And where have you been?"

Kenny took up a ball, expanded it, and tossed it up to call out a Zarude. "Yeah, I saw this one here chase off some Team Heart members who wandered into the nearby forest," Kenny said, "And then it saw me and tried to attack me. But I was able to overcome with the power of cringe."

"Th-That's the forest terror!" Honey exclaimed, "You actually caught it?!"

Shrugging, Kenny replied, "I figured that someone had to handle it."

"Well that made a fair portion of what Dawn was going to do after catching Kubfu moot," Hyde said dryly.

Dawn turned to look back at Mustard, gave the scrolls he held some consideration. "...Since Serena has the Single Strike Urshifu, I'll go for the Rapid Strike Urshifu. Which scroll do I use?" Dawn, due to past life knowledge, already knew, but no-one aside from the other reborn trainers knew, so Dawn had to act for appearances' sake.

Handing the Scroll of Waters over to Dawn, Mustard replied, "This one, the Scroll of Waters." Dawn accepted the scroll from Mustard. Although the reborn trainers had both Kubfu and Urshifu registered as caught, Dawn couldn't wait on evolving Fei Long due to the pressing need to do Galar dex work and the fact that the Scrolls couldn't leave the Isle of Armor. As such, Dawn evolved her named Kubfu into Rapid Strike Urshifu right away.

"I'm going to have to do work on Fei Long's training later," Dawn said, "Because for now my crew and I have to get going. We would have stayed longer in order to help out with the issue of the forest terror, but Kenny had apparently solved that already."

"Yeah, I'm a doozey if left to my own devices," Kenny remarked, casually and with a hint of amused pride in his tone.

"That... why does that statement fill me with more dread than any action on an inter-regional scale that is taken by Team Heart?" Honey asked.

"Because I'm the one who said it," Kenny declared. With what all issues of business they had on the Isle of Armor completed, the reborn trainers were able to take off. Their next stop involved going on over to the Crown Tundra, where a few more Pokémon of lore awaited them. Once all of those were caught, the reborn trainers will be that much closer to completing the Galar Dex, which means that they're that much closer to completing the whole of the National Dex.

Later, The Big Beauty was parked in an open area in Freezington in the Crown Tundra. The reborn trainers, along with an away team of Paul, Calem, and Barry, got off to look around. "So this is the Crown Tundra, huh?" Barry said as he looked around, hunched up due to the cold.

It was wise that everyone had dressed for the colder climate; Dawn, for example, was wearing her Winter Wear outfit that female player characters in BDSP back in Dawn's previous life can get. "Yeah," Dawn remarked with a nod, "This is the Crown Tundra. It would seem that its reputation for having a cold climate isn't unfounded."

"So we're here to look for species of Pokémon for you guys to do field research on, right?" Paul asked. Given that they were out in the open, and the Crown Tundra as a territory of Galar was part of the Team Heart Empire, everyone in the away team knew better than to speak openly about what the reborn trainers were really up to.

"Well hopefully we'll finish up here soon," Calem remarked, "In addition to the temperature not being exactly comfortable, this is Team Heart turf. I'd like to get out of here as soon as possible."

As Dawn nodded in understanding, Barry suddenly stopped short as he was levitated by psychic power, then he held his arms out to his side like he was t-posing. Then, he spoke in a manner that made it clear that he was possessed. "Thou persons are clearly trainers of skill," Barry said to the rest of the away team, "I would be requesting the aid of thy skill to bring to ease my loyal steeds, who ride fiercely across the Crown Tundra."

"Well, Barry's possessed," Kenny said.

Dawn, who remembered playing the Crown Tundra DLC back in her previous life, had an idea of what was going on. "...Where's the real you?" Dawn said, "The one using Barry as a puppet to speak to the rest of us with."

"I am hiding in a small clearing behind a building," Barry said, "To avoid the wicked, greedy gaze of those who bear the moniker of Team Heart."

"Yeah, that makes sense," Trip replied. The away team followed the floating, possessed Barry over to a small clearing hidden behind one of the buildings in Freezington, and it was there that the away team saw Calyrex, who had Barry float over to him.

Calyrex, using psychic power to control Barry, continued to use Barry as a mouth piece. "Pardon my appropriation of thy dim witted companion," Calyrex said through Barry, "But I cannot normally converse in the human tongue. Thus I need a human to speak for me, to serve as my voice as I use their service as my mouth."

"I'm actually amazed you can do something like this," Calem remarked.

"So what is it that you want?" Mina asked.

"My steeds, Glastrier and Spectrier," Calyrex said, "They run roughshod all over the Crown Tundra. Their rampaging leaves trouble in their wake. Even the evil, greedy humans going by the moniker of Team Heart are wary of them. I have heard word that Team Heart plans to bring in enough people to subdue my steeds through sheer force of numbers."

"So you want us to stop Glastrier and Spectrier before they get themselves into more trouble than what they can handle," Kenny summed up.

Calyrex had Barry nod once in the affirmative for him. "Yes, exactly."

Stretching his arms up into the air, Trip said, "Very well, what do they look like?"

"They are mighty equine steeds," Calyrex said, "Glastrier is pure white, with a mane and hooves of ice. Spectrier is dark purple, near pitch black, with a long, ghostly mane, and ethereal hooves that actually don't connect to its legs. Be warned that both steeds are mighty and strong, you will need to muster up all of the power that you can just to get them to take pause."

Nodding once, Dawn replied, "Fair enough, we'll go out and look for Glastrier and Spectrier." Calyrex agreed to be hidden back on The Big Beauty so as to avoid being seen by Team Heart; a sheet was thrown over it, and Barry was released from psychic hold and allowed to be free again. Once Calyrex was hidden on Dawn's flying ship, the reborn trainers went out to track down and deal with the two rampaging steeds of Calyrex.

...

It was Dawn who tracked down Spectrier, finding it in a cemetery area. With her named Yveltal Fangfang, Dawn bested Spectrier and captured it. As for Glastrier, Trip found it in a particularly snowy area. Trip had called out his named Dialga Deelia to do battle with Glastrier, besting it and then capturing it.

With the two rampaging steeds of Calyrex settled and caught, the reborn trainers returned to The Big Beauty, where the rest of the away team was keeping an eye on Calyrex in the cargo hold of the flying ship. "Such a marvelous construct," Calyrex said, using Barry as a medium again, as it looked around inside of the cargo hold of The Big Beauty, "Is it true that this vessel is actually capable of achieving flight?"

"From region to region, yes," Dawn replied, right before she and the reborn trainers proceeded to explain that Glastrier and Spectrier had both been caught.

"My word!" Calyrex said, clearly surprised, "You truly are good humans of great strength and skill! I was right to trust you!" Calyrex then ended up agreeing to go with one of the reborn trainers. It was Kenny who ended up capturing Calyrex. This ended the list of legendary and mythical Pokémon that the reborn trainers had to keep an eye out for, but there were still a few spots in the Galar Dex that Dawn knew still needed to be filled out before the whole of the National Dex was complete.

So few steps away from a goal so grand.

Later back in the Galar mainland out in the northern part of the Wild Area, The Big Beauty was parked near the entry point to Hammerlocke as the reborn trainers were in the meeting room on board of the flying ship, checking off things on the list of Galar Pokémon to see how far they had gotten so far. They were making more progress than they had realized.

"It looks like there aren't very many species left before we have between us all species of Pokémon registered as caught," Dawn said.

"Then we can return to Sinnoh and help to prep for taking the fight to Team Heart," Trip replied.

Kenny was about to speak up, but was cut off by a knock at the meeting room door. Mina who was closest got up and answered it, and saw that it was Leona and Omiyo there. "Umm, I was wanting to, umm, ask Dawn if it was okay to, umm, go to a festival happening in Hammerlocke," Omiyo said, looking unsure of herself, as well as a bit afraid.

"What kind of festival?" Dawn asked.

"It's some Donzish festival celebrating the culture and heritage of the Donzish people," explained Leona, "There's also gonna be a strong showing of security from Team Heart for the festival, given history for similar festivals in Johto."

Looking curious, Trip said, "Well I see no problem with us going to check out the festival, Omiyo. In fact I believe that Mina had expressed interest in converting to the Donzish faith. But none of us are Donzish, at least as of yet."

"But they're still good people who have a very amazing culture and heritage," Omiyo said, "I believe that it ought to be respected."

Looking to the others, Dawn said, "Well what do you guys think? Should we go to the festival?"

Shrugging, Kenny said, "If anyone tries to pull an Eric on the festival, we can very easily fight them off and kick their sorry rear ends."

"Trip also raised a point on how I'm interested in converting to the Donzish faith," Mina said, "Imma wanna check out the festival to learn more about all of that stuff." With a game plan set, the reborn trainers, along with Leona and Omiyo, decided to go check out the festival. They brought along Paul and Calem to round out the away team going into Hammerlocke to check out the Donzish festival.

However, they had no idea that they were going to be having... a number of fateful encounters in Hammerlocke, really. One of said fateful encounters will actually see things improve for the crew of The Big Beauty as a whole, although how said fateful encounter will improve things for the crew of Dawn's flying ship has yet to be seen.

The away team from The Big Beauty got into Hammerlocke and were able to check out the Donzish cultural and heritage festival. They took note of how there were security personnel from Team Heart located at various points to ensure that no foul shenanigans went on, unlike what Eric Ericson and his fellows had been able to do at that fateful similar festival over in the Johto region a while ago.

The away team took note of all of the stalls, the attractions. Even the air was filled with delightful smells of foods being cooked up hot and fresh. Smells that made some of the members of the away team wanna try whatever it was that was making said delightful smells. Dawn, giving a nod of understanding, led the crew over to one such stall, which was making some sort of fried sweet.

While the away team was at that stall, they heard the familiar voice of Captain's Assistant Jill call out, "Hey, you're Dawn Berlitz!" Dawn and the others all turned to look right in the direction that the call of Jill came from, and as such they all saw Jill make her way over to them, followed by an adult woman wearing a unique Team Heart uniform, also said woman looked kind of like an adult Jill.

The woman had mildly tanned fair skin, shoulder length brownish hair with a few stray strands, and she wore a black shirt under a pink dress shirt that had the sleeves rolled up to her elbows, a pink bandana worn down around her neck, black pants, pink shoes, and she had a black Team Heart 'H' on the dress shirt over her left breast. "Jill, sweetie, please wait up next time," the woman remarked as she caught up to Jill.

Turning to look at the woman, Jill said while gesturing to the away team, "Sorry, mom. But these guys here are Dawn Berlitz and some of her companions."

The woman, identified as Jill's mom, looked at the away team. "So you're Dawn Berlitz," the woman said, "What brings you and your friends to the festival here? Are any of you Donzish?"

"Technically no, but my crew mate Mina has expressed interest in converting to the faith," Dawn replied, "Additionally, my crew mate Omiyo heard about this festival and wanted to come check it out, so here we are."

Looking to the woman, Trip said, "So you're Jill's mom? We got some word about you already, you're a Captain of Team Heart for the Galar Sector."

Nodding once in confirmation, the woman replied, "Yeah, I'm Pamela, Second Captain of the Galar Sector of Team Heart. You probably are also already aware that my daughter Jill here serves as my Captain's Assistant."

"Oh, Dawn," Jill said, "Didn't you mention that one of your companions is autistic?"

"Yeah, it's Omiyo," Dawn replied while pointing out Omiyo, "Why do you ask?"

"Oh, so Jill was right," Pamela said, "You really do lack ableism when it comes to bringing in new members to the crew of your flying ship. Galar has had something of an ableist past when it comes to determining who and who can't serve in any field, including in ship crews."

"Yeah, Dawn really doesn't discriminate," Calem remarked, "Hell, while she and her crew were in Kalos, she recruited me, along with this one rather heavy set girl who's a traveling musician."

"Well it's certainly nice to hear that you aren't fatphobic," Pamela replied to the away team as a whole, "Well anyway, I hope you all are able to enjoy the festival here." Pamela and Jill then took off to go check out the rest of the Donzish festival, leaving the away team be.

...

The away team continued to check out the rest of the Donzish festival being held in Hammerlocke. All of them had some degree of fun, and they learned a little bit more about the Donzish faith. Kenny also sampled a little bit of each of the food items being made at the festival. It was all really rather good, to be honest.

During the checking out of the Donzish festival being held in Hammerlocke, Dawn was in a group with Mina, Leona, and Omiyo as the away team split up into two groups, one boy and one girl. While Mina was reading from a book she got, Dawn looked around and saw someone assisting in taking down a stand that was done for the day.

What really surprised Dawn was the fact that the person helping out with the dismantling of that stand was Victor, the male player character from the Sword and Shield games back in Dawn's previous life. Victor looked as he did by default in those games, even dressed the same. When the dismantling of the stall was done, Victor was thanked for the help and took off.

Feeling that this could be important, Dawn walked up to Victor and got his attention. "I saw you help take down that stall just now," Dawn began, "What was up with that?"

"Oh, the stall sold out of the goods it had so the man running it had no reason to keep it up," Victor replied, "I'm just glad that I was able to do something. Things had been kind of worrisome for me ever since the noble family that my family worked for was stripped of their title and holdings before they were thrown into one of the Team Heart labor camps here in Galar."

Dawn looked a bit concerned to hear that. "You worked for a noble family before they had everything taken from them by Team Heart?"

Victor nodded once in the affirmative. "Both sides of my family have a strong history of being servant staff to Galarian nobility and royalty for at least the past few generations," Victor said, a hint of pride in family history in his tone and words, "We've pretty much set the standard for butlers and maids who serve the nobility and royalty of Galar."

"But the noble family you served was stripped of everything by Team Heart before being thrown into one of the Team Heart labor camps here in Galar," Dawn remarked, concern in her expression.

Victor gave another affirmative nod. "The mid-teens daughter of the head of the noble family that I had served made a rather mean spirited ableist remark within earshot of some Team Heart rank and file, who reported the offense to their higher ups. The noble man who I served actually has three daughters, and the Team Heart rank and file level members who heard the ableist remark have no idea which daughter made that ableist remark as they didn't see her, only heard her."

Dawn folded her arms over her chest. "Lemme guess, Team Heart actually only wanted the offending daughter, but decided to take the whole family because they didn't know which daughter was the offending daughter and her father refused to give her up."

"He actually didn't know which daughter of his was the offending daughter," Victor said, "And the three daughters all refused to talk. My lord didn't wanna risk sending an innocent daughter to the labor camps, so the whole of his family was taken as Team Heart wanted to be sure that they got the guilty daughter."

Gesturing to Victor, Dawn said, "But you knew."

Victor nodded once in the affirmative. "I knew because I saw it happen, I saw which daughter it was. But I couldn't do anything to betray the noble family I served, it would spit in the face of the history of both sides of my family." Looking lost, Victor went on, "And now the noble family that I had served is noble no longer, they had all they held taken by the authority of Team Heart. I wasn't the only one dismissed from serving my lord, the entire servant staff was dismissed as a result of our lord being stripped of his title and other holdings."

"What are you doing now?" Dawn asked.

Shrugging, Victor replied, "Looking for a new noble family to enter into service for."

Dawn had a considering look on her face. "...Are you a Pokémon trainer?"

Perking up a bit, Victor replied, "Why yes. It's essential in case we have to protect the nobles or royals who we serve." Dawn then got a full rundown of Victor's team; he has a Rillaboom, a Drednaw, a Centiskorch, a female Indeedee, a Corviknight, and a Thievul that to Dawn's surprise turned out to be a shiny. Victor had a full, fairly solid team.

Giving Victor a wry look, Dawn said, "...If you have nowhere else to go, I have a proposition for you.

...

The rest of the crew of The Big Beauty was surprised when Dawn introduced them to Victor, as well as her explaining Victor's history and background to them. Dawn also said that she offered Victor to join the crew of The Big Beauty, seeing that he held some grudge against Team Heart for taking what all he knew in life and throwing it upside down.

Victor, with nowhere else to go, said that he would join the crew of The Big Beauty, at least until he found another noble family for himself and his family to serve as per the tradition both sides of his family had upheld for generations. After making Victor swear himself to secrecy, Dawn was able to get Salvia to agree to reveal who she really was to Victor.

Victor lit up upon finding out that there was literal royalty there and, after Salvia explained that she was aiming to liberate her kingdom from Team Heart rule, Victor pledged what all he could to the cause. He also said that his family, at least the ones still alive, would be more than glad to follow the princess on her quest to free her kingdom from Team Heart rule.

Freesia was also glad that she would not be alone in serving the princess, given she feels that she alone can only do so much for Salvia. Speaking of, Salvia was actually rather amazed that one of the Pokémon that Victor has in his party is a shiny Thievul, given that Thievul apparently are one of the species of Pokémon that are native to her kingdom.

Salvia remembered from her childhood a fairy tale about a shiny Thievul helping a pair of Togepi twins lost in the woods out and to safety out of gratitude that they shared food with him. "That was my favorite fairy tale from my childhood," Salvia said, "It's in a book of fairy tales my mother would read from to me every night when I was little. I wasn't able to take the book with me when Freesia and I had to flee the kingdom."

"We'll take back everything that Team Heart had taken from you," Victor said, "Don't you worry about that, your highness."

"Ooh, that reminds me, Victor," Dawn said, "We can't openly refer to Salvia and Freesia by who they really are, given they fled their kingdom and are wanted by Team Heart. We're using their aliases when referring to them. The only reason you mentioning Salvia by her royal title isn't bad here is due to the fact we're all aboard The Big Beauty where no-one outside can hear us."

"Oh, sorry about that," Victor replied, "So anyway, when do I call up the rest of my family?"

"We'll have to visit them after myself along with Trip, Kenny, and Mina are done with field research we're doing in Galar on the various species of Pokémon native to the region," Dawn began, "Then we will have to visit your family in person, see things out from there."

Nodding once in understanding, Victor said, "Got it."

Clapping his hands together, Kenny said, "Hoo boy! We got us a new crew member! I get the feeling that things are gonna start looking up for us!" The mood in Dawn's flying ship seemed to be lifting as the crew welcomed its newest member. It was seeming like things were about to pick up for the crew of The Big Beauty.

(Opelucid City, Unova region)

Bianca, the Boss's Assistant of Team Heart and the public face ruler of the Team Heart Empire, was sitting at her desk in her office at her mansion home in the wealthy neighborhood located in Opelucid City in the Unova region. Bianca, a dry and (very) unamused look on her round, plump face, looked at her usual maid plus Admin Wolfgang and Admin's Assistant Betzabe. The three of them were all worried about how Bianca was going to take the news that they had for her.

"So you guys have an update on the situation involving the terrorist Yoshitsugu and the rest of his fellows," Bianca remarked, "Very well, let's hear it. And it had better be good news."

"Umm, unfortunately Lady Bianca," the maid said, "It's not news of the good sort."

Bianca inhaled and exhaled through her nose, her eyes closed in a look of contemplation as her lips were in a small frown. Opening her eyes, Bianca looked at the persons gathered before her. "...Very well. What is it?"

"Admin Black has been able to confirm that, somehow, the group of people known as Ericson's Company had vanished entirely out of Alola," Wolfgang explained, "There are no traces of any of the members of that group."

Bianca slowly blinked once as she regarded the persons gathered before her. She was very clearly unamused with the news, but she wasn't one to lose her temper. "...Is there any theory as to where they might have gotten to?" Bianca asked.

"Unfortunately no," Betzabe replied, keeping a brave face despite being legitimately nervous, "It's like they had faded into the ether."

Bianca made an annoyed sounding scoffing sound. "Figures that cowardly terrorist and his equally cowardly fellows would hide after slipping out of Team Heart's gaze. Who knows where the lot of them are hiding now?"

...

(Sunyshore City, Sinnoh region)

"What do you mean you put Zed and Chandler in charge of their own group each in the militia force?!" Volkner exclaimed as he and Jazmina were grilling a somewhat older man who was also part of the Sunyshore City trainer militia force.

Shrugging in an even mix of helplessness and confusion, the older man said, "They wouldn't stop harping to have command over the forces we're training to fend off Team Heart! They both said that they both have military leadership experience anyway, so I figured that there'd be no harm in letting both of them have at least a little bit each!"

"They're the kind of people who if they get an inch they'll take a mile," Jazmina said, "Now Volkner and I have to do damage control, as well as figure out how to wrest what command you've foolishly given them out of their hands."

Shrugging again, the older man said, "What's the worst that can happen?"

Volkner let out an exasperated sigh. "...I wish that you hadn't said that. Saying that line tends to jinx things to ensure the worst does happen."

END, CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE

Author's notes;

This chapter sees the reborn trainers get all of the legendary and mythical Pokémon in the DLC for Sword and Shield, as well as Dawn getting an Urshifu. There's also how the crew of The Big Beauty goes to Hammerlocke where the away team visits a Donzish festival, where they meet Jill again as well as her mom Pamela.

Also during the festival, Dawn meets Victor, the male player character from Sword and Shield. Here, both sides of Victor's family have long histories of being butlers and maids to the nobility and royalty of Galar, with Victor's family losing their work because the noble family they had worked for was stripped of everything by Team Heart and thrown into a labor camp.

Dawn ends up recruiting Victor to the crew of The Big Beauty, giving him hope his family can continue their legacy of serving nobility and royalty by getting Salvia to agree to reveal her true identity to Victor. The rest of Victor's family will be coming along to Sinnoh at the end of the Galar arc, but that is still a few chapters off.

Meanwhile in Unova, Bianca is furious, but keeps her ourward cool, when Wolfgang, Betzabe, and the usual maid inform her that Admin Black of the Alola Sector has confirmed that Ericson's Company had completely vanished without a trace from Alola. No-one in Team Heart has any sort of idea that Eric and his fellows were secretly taken to Sinnoh for safety.

But over in Sunyshore City, some of Eric's fellows seem to be forgetting that they're not supposed to stand out, as Zed and Chandler each manage to weasel some command over some of the trainer militia being made in Sunyshore City. Volkner and Jazmina both are going to have to do some rather serious damage control before Zed and Chandler screw up too much.

Anyway, the next chapter will see more of the Officer Staff for the Galar Sector of Team Heart be revealed, as well as touch a bit on the character of Marnie, who is best friends with Galar Champion Nina. Until then, take care.
