Chapter 23:Recalculating…

Chas knew a curse or two. John and he had dabbled as college drop outs in their band decades before this outcome. Surrounded by what looked to be a red miasma, it leaked on through the door while he was putting up and slapping on wards around his apartment. "Bleeding nice of someone to drop by and pay a visit, but we ain't got the time to sit and play catch up, mate!"

Rough on the tongue, he threw a figure of a cross at the door as this whatever midnight guest cane a – lurking through. More likely, he was sent by Lothos as John had warned, to find Raku fast asleep and sweep him away. The boy was a good kid, even if he was ages and leagues above all of them. There was no way Chas could let this annoying presence drive him batter than a shite storm in July.

Raku's hand pulled back the knob, but no. Jen was there and yipped up to fight by his side. "Stay in the house! You can't-

"I can, better than you think." She let her electricity bring the cross through the cloud as this red impish being with a slender tail was forced to flee. They never saw as it was back on the ground floor, running to the nearest lobby restroom and came back out.

"Ah…sorry!" Amber chuckled sheepishly as a cloud of what they thought was gas came out with her. "I might need to be more careful with my after-school snacking….?"

Jen panted and went to check outside what they thought would kill them for doing so. "Clear, I thought we'd definitely see something."

"We had abd they almost breached our barrier. This is getting to be too dangerous. What of Doctor Fate? Eli Frost?"

"They might not be available, off world " Jen shrugged. "We'll try to –

A banging sounded at the window as Chas turned to see Jen on the fire escape. The real one.

"Oh!"

"Let me in, we need back up! Come on, mate!"

Jenny was desperate, though the kid Jen stopped him. "Wait." She pointed to a thread, small and black. A puppet.

"Go tell Raku not to get ansty, not to open that door."

Jen was sure she could scare off a golem despite the elemental differences. Chas ran to the door and shit it as Raku stirred on his seat. "Wuh…John?"

"It's late. Go back to sleep, lad." He went to a trunk in the room and pulled out an adult sized quilt. "You're going to need your rest."

"What…what happened? John, he's….he…" Raku rubbed away tears as his head started to create problems again.

Raku shook his head, John was….

"He hurt them, has them. Please? Can't you contact the Chosen?? Someone! I….I…."

Raku held a hand over his mouth as the nausea hit. All of his strength left him as without knowing how, he manifested a bucket and vomited into it directly. "You…in this air?"

"It's happening …" Raku gasped, the nausea coming on in waves. "He…hu- hu - ulp!"

"Raku, that's…let me find some medicine-

"No…no, everything is all wrong. John can't stop him. Only I can…but, look at me! I'm…."

He did it again, the pallor leaving his cheeks as the eating darkness kept gnawing.

"Sit up, I'll make us some toast. You can't keep losing your meals under my watch. John –

Raku did it again, this time it wasn't food.

Tar, black as tar as the bucket dropped and splattered all over the ground.

Chas blinked, waking up as he saw Raku sleeping on the ottoman. The same one the entire while, then…was that an illusion or a dream he'd had?

The boy looked dainty. Not in pain or puking his guts away. Scratching his face, Chas stood up and with a heave, went over to check. The phone in his back pocket went off as he pulled it up. It was the real Jen and she had splendid news.

~ I talked on to Eli, and he's sending me a bit if aid. If this is a bloody demon with that much power to strangle two people at once, let alone – how is the kid?~

She cut off as Chas sighed, swiping back his brunette hair and shaking his head a bit, grin lost to time for the moment. "Out if it, asleep. Might be for the best. Ignito hadn't popped up, but what's the fuss, then? Is John or Zatanna –

~ Safe, don't know how I got them back. Both were bitten, like we thought. I'm safe but not like this influence wants as tall as a smoke stack in London's gloomy history. What cane after you, I know it. The other Jen is psychically linked. I have to ask John how that works. Next thing I knew, Jack disappeared from class ~

"What?? Who the…who was in charge of him, you?" Chas spazzed out while Raku groaned and rolled over with knit brows.

~ I don't want to move from this spot. This is a serial target at a time. They know, have to.~

"I know it. We were almost attacked. Little Jenny took care of the imposter pretending to be you."

~ WHA- I'm not taking all that, and what about her?? From.what I know, she handled it like she could've. Usually you wait for im, but I felt how you didn't leave them alone. So, thanks.~

"Eli said an aid, what kind? Sorcerer? Esper." Chas wondered. "We need an exorcist. We need –

~ Not Buffy abd not gonna be her. I know Trese –

" Cassie is out of the way. Leagues." Chas sighed a "no."

~ Then, we wait? I'm not sure…what about Jack?~

"Bring John and Zee to a hotel. Don't let them come here. Raku is unable to tell or lend a hand, seeing as this is his enemy."

The boy kicked in his sleep like a dog.

Fleeing, great.

"If you can't, I'll need more time, more than John's old friends to put a stop to whatever we have to face by ourselves."

~ Right, and Jack may be a victim. John was bitten and a lot of him looks to be drained out. His manna is in there, someplace.~

Chas noted that. Yet, they hasn't even scratched the surface of what could be done. "Barry, or Lenny? Dr. Fate? Would Zatarra find his kid and never let her come back? Raku was here under John's watch and now…now…

"No, I have one more trick. Not gonna like it, but it works for the mess we've well gotten into. Jen, stay close to Jack if you find him. I'll be there…once know how to keep the boy safe out of doors." He seeped through his teeth, having no intention to give the vamp what it wanted.

Raku was not bait, he might even be thr one to know how to kill it. After all, John had said that Raku was hurt by Lothos far worse to the point of erasing him from existence.

Then, how did he come back?

And where the bloody FUCK was Ignito??!

The light crashed into her lids as sge shut them again. Blinded by the sun, Zee twisted her neck to hear a train moving past. And a hand to her temple. "Ah, are you…an undead?"

John was on the other side of the room, groaning and rolling like a pull bug. Zee saw the blonde and red of Jenny Sparks enough to relax her nerves. "I…I got duped."

"Big bloody time you lot took my advice. Stay single –

"Shut up, John. You know he kissed your face off, I just…" She checked her body, startled as a yell passed by Zee's throat. "It's not to turn us, relax. These bits act as tracking chips. Bloody hypocrite only wants puppets, not followers."

"Come again?" Snorted Jen with a wicked glance at the occultist in the room. "Jack is fine, I found you though after and later...damned, he went back to Chas by dusk hour. And I never say that! Ever!" Jen paced with her feet bringing up static cling from the carpet. "What? He's safe, Chas is…is…" John groaned and leaned onto the floor to go back to bed. That was like a sexual explosion between a threesome. Lothos was a few cheers short of a bag, for certain.

"That, was an incubi that can also be labeled AS a vampire. His mum and dad didn't grant him immortal life." Coughed the magi. "Lilith, did."

So, John found out a few things about their respected new villain.

Lothos was a noble during the timeline of Romania royalty that was later visited in his teens by Lilith, and his world, his land became a warped demon paradise that she kind of used as her vacation home. Noted, this is why this universe is not Dragul's of Vlad's in the mortal earthen timeline.

Lilith had him around her thumb, yet her price was his mortality which Lothos gave up to be her dark equal. Raku came around and he was told to taint the boy before she could turn him properly. Raku rejected Lothos from fully doing what Lilu could not and Raku layer was changed because of inability to age as a half djinn. That allowed him to later mature into Lord Raku where as a teen, Lilu finally was outdone by her own creations…

Lothos was burnt on his own throne at tge stake with a curse and erased ( Like Roku to do, not Raku with the book of Manifesto,) by Lord Roku out of vengeance for what Lothos had done by stealing his first time willingly. That, was thanks to Lilu. TTT instigation expert thzt got the ball rollling. She blueprinted everything

Azag's recovery of his son was the omly thing she was not glad about. Also, Lothos is a vampire first off, but an Incubus due to the curse, Secondly. It's why he was able to dabble in the occult and why he can leave his world with a servant- even taking over their body. Yet Roku did that too, so did he have any other secrets to tell? Find out. Also, who is going to help out now that the protectors of this time have been compromised?
