This story was supposed to be posted on Christmas or shortly after but since I've been working on my unfinished fanfiction, I haven't been able to post it when I wanted to.
In this story, like my D-Day story, Frank Sr. and Angela are happily married and Tommy hasn't had any legal problems. I like to bring a little "calm" to the Rizzoli family from time to time
As usual, I put the usual disclaimer to say that Rizzoli & Isles does not belong to me regardless of the versions, etc. etc. but you know that by heart.
This story is mine, the mistakes are mine and this story is totally out of my imagination
I remind you that English is not my native language
I hope you will like it.
Happy reading.
Libra 007
It was a late afternoon in December, the air smelled like the holidays. Maura Isles' office in the morgue was bathed in the soft light of dusk. Jane Rizzoli, in a loving mood, said
"God, you're beautiful, so beautiful! You're working too hard."
Then she began to cover Maura with kisses, her lips tracing a path of passion across her face as Maura could only moan in pleasure.
"Ja..ne… Ja..ne Jane… I have to… finish…"
Jane said
"You can finish this later! It's been over a week since we've had a moment to ourselves!" »
The moment became more intimate as Jane guided Maura to the couch in the office, their bodies entwined in a passionate embrace and Maura said as she ran her hands over Jane's body and kissed her neck:
"Jane...Someone could...come...and"
Jane as she began to unbutton Maura's blouse said
"There's no one here at this hour"
But their moment was suddenly interrupted by the sudden opening of the door. A couple, visibly just as surprised, entered, still entwined in a kiss. Jane surprised said
"Tommy?"
Maura who was also surprised said
"Susie?"
Tommy answered, equally surprised
"Jane?"
Susie said equally surprised
"Doctor Isles?"
Jane, trying to understand the situation, asked:
"Tommy? What are you doing here? No one called a plumber."
Maura added:
"Susie? Why are you with Jane's second brother?"
Then, a revelation crossed her mind, and she said:
"You two are together!"
Jane's eyes widened and looked at Maura then at the couple and Susie, with an embarrassed smile, confirmed:
"Yes, we are together."
Jane and Maura quickly stood up, adjusting their clothes to regain a more professional appearance but remained seated and Jane then asked:
"How long have you two been together?"
Tommy, with a mischievous smile, replied, "I can ask you that too, big sister."
The two couples looked at each other, each trying to understand the other.
Tommy then spoke:
"If I tell you, will you tell me how long you and Maura have been together? In any case, I'll say it right away, it was about time but now I understand why Maura was insensitive to my charms"
Jane said louder
"Tommy!"
Tommy held his hands up in surrender and said
"Okay, big sister. Well, Susie and I met in the middle of last year when she had a plumbing problem, we talked and then we saw each other a few times especially when you were babysitting TJ and sometimes Susie helped me with TJ. She's good with kids, I swear and TJ likes her"
Tommy hugged Susie and Susie blushed and said
"It was after Frankie and Nina got married that we decided to really go out but we decided to keep it a secret"
Maura asked
"But why are you and Susie coming into my office?"
Tommy said laughing
"Your couch is really comfy!"
Jane understood what Tommy meant and stood up quickly as if the couch was on fire and said
"Maura! Maura! Change that thing!" I don't want to sit on it anymore or do...well you get my point!"
Maura said
"Jane? It's true that this couch is very comfortable and..."
Jane said pointing at the couch with her index finger:
"Tommy made love to Susie on this thing! I'm not sitting where my brother fucked! And besides, you should get up right now"
Tommy and Susie started laughing and Tommy said
"You don't stay up when we go to Frankie's even though he's married so..."
Jane raised her hand and said
"Stop right now Tommy! I feel like I'm going to throw up! I'm already going to have to put all my clothes in the washing machine when I get home!"
Maura said
"Jane, I'm sure Tommy took every precaution
Like with Lydia?"
Tommy said in a slightly harsher voice:
"Hey! Don't overdo it because if you talk to me about Lydia, I'm going to talk to you about Gabriel Dean and me when I was with Lydia, I was single while you..."
Maura stood up and said
"Okay! That's it! Let's stop!"
Susie said
"Everyone calm down!"
Maura says
"Susie how did you get Tommy in here since you need permission to access this place?
Well, Doctor Isles, you know that the mayor organized a while ago, a discovery of the different professions used by the BPD and there was a tour of the morgue and among other things a discovery of the profession of criminalist and Tommy came to see me several times and then he came in the most legal way in the world by asking at the reception if I was there and when I could see him, he came down."
Tommy says
"And you Janie? Since when have you and Maura been together?
Since Casey announced to me that he was leaving for a base in Germany and I refused to follow him. Maura consoled me and then it happened naturally but I think that deep down, I have always been attracted to her even if I have never been in love with a woman before her. »
Tommy said
"I think we're going to have to tell Pa and Ma all this on Christmas Eve. We can't hide forever because our relationships have been secret for a while now."
Jane agreed:
"Yes, we'll have to, it's going to be a funny Christmas."
Susie, a little worried, expressed her doubts:
"Jane, Tommy, aren't you afraid that your parents won't accept Doctor Isles? After all, their daughter being in a relationship with a woman can…repel them"
Jane, with reassuring confidence, replied:
"They accepted Nina who is black but it is true that learning that their only daughter is in a relationship with a woman will be a shock to them even if the woman in question is Maura
Pa and Ma love Maura and she is already practically part of the family and Ma dreams of having a doctor in the family and Frankie and Nina love Maura and then Maura was Nina's wedding witness at her wedding and on top of that TJ loves his aunt Maura"
Susie says
"I feel like this New Year's Eve is going to be remembered"
Tommy says
"I think so too. A new announcement of an interracial couple and the announcement of a lesbian couple in the Rizzoli family, we're going to remember it"
The following Friday at the Rizzoli house
Tommy arrives at his parents' house with TJ, once inside, TJ runs to his grandparents with excitement and says while giving his grandparents a hug:
"Nonno! Nonna!"
Tommy says while giving a bag to his mother
"Good evening Pa, good evening Ma! TJ is yours for the weekend! There are TJ's clothes and toys in this bag"
Angela says
"Oh, Tommy, it's always a pleasure to have him here. But tell me, how are you?"
Tommy answers smiling
"Good, very good indeed. In fact, I have something to tell you. I would like to bring someone to Christmas Eve dinner."
Angela curious and surprised
"Oh? Who is it?"
She's a woman whose plumbing I fixed in an emergency a while back and who I... sympathized with
Frank Sr who had his grandson sitting on him said laughing:
" Sympathized? Say rather that the customer fell in love with the plumber who came to do the work at her place. Is that right?
Tommy said laughing
" You could say that Pa
I told you when you became a plumber with me that it could happen but tell me? What job does she do?"
Tommy knows that his parents know Susie who works with Maura, Jane, Frankie and Nina so he decided to say that she was a scientist
Angela said hugging TJ:
" A scientist? That's interesting. What kind of science?"
" Oh, you know, she works with lab stuff, experiments. I think you'll like her."
Angela says
"Tommy. You don't want to tell us more?
I want it to be a surprise. But I promise you, she's great and she gets along great with TJ
But why didn't you come with her sooner?
Ma, I wanted to make sure it would last and now it does. I know you want there to be another Rizzoli in a relationship and now, by introducing you to her, it will make our relationship official"
Frank Sr says
"Well, if she can take your sister's jokes, your brother's jokes and yours, she'll be welcome but Tommy, does she like Italian food? If not, she'll be surprised with your mother's dishes!"
Pa, I can tell you she loves Italian food
So, we can't wait to meet her. You know Tommy, I envy my grandson, he already knows her
Be patient, Pa. You'll see her soon. »
Angela said
"Indeed I can't wait to meet her and I hope you go far together. It would make me happy to see my second son get married! Ah if only Jane could imitate you and find someone good"
Tommy thinking that Jane and Maura were together laughed and said:
"Yes, that would be good"
Then he looked at the clock on the living room wall and said
"I have to go! Pa, we'll see you Monday at the construction site and Ma, don't let TJ eat everything he wants"
Angela who still had TJ in her arms smiled and said
"My grandson loves his nonna's food"
TJ said smiling
"Nonna makes very good food! »
Tommy said
"And I'll be the last person to blame him but he has an appointment with the pediatrician next month and I don't want him to think I'm force-feeding him.
If I have to, I'll come with you and explain to that pediatrician how an Italian grandmother acts with her grandson. It would be a shame if I couldn't please my grandson anymore
Ma, please"
Angela smiled and said
"I'm kidding!"
Tommy kissed TJ's head and said
"Be good to your nonno and nonna! I love you TJ!
I love you too Pa"
Tommy also wished his parents a good evening and left and Frank Sr. said smiling to his wife
"You're kidding, you're kidding but I don't believe a word of it"
Angela said,
"You know me well! Eating two slices of lasagna or cake from time to time won't be a problem and besides TJ works out!
He's like his Aunt Jane, he likes good food but Angela, Tommy is right about one thing, TJ mustn't have the same weight problems that Jane had.
TJ eats a lot of vegetables, Frank."
Then Angela said smiling at TJ
"Do you like vegetables TJ?
Yes nonna! I even eat Aunt Jane's slice separately when Aunt Jane eats with Aunt Maura, then Aunt Jane eats all her vegetables"
Frank and Angela started laughing and Frank said
"I recognize Jane's way of doing things! It's only with Maura that she eats vegetables. »
Angela put TJ on the floor and he started playing and Angela said to her husband
"You know, nothing because Maura is making Jane understand some essential things like being less of a daredevil, I appreciate them being friends"
Then she said in her husband's ear so that TJ wouldn't hear:
"And I wouldn't mind them being together... You know what I mean. Since they've known each other, they've always been close but I feel like since Jane had her troubles on her hands and then after what happened at the police station, they're even closer"
Frank Sr said
"If it allowed Jane to be happy and to be a little more feminine at times then I would drive Jane to her appointments with Maura myself"
Christmas Eve, Maura's House
Maura's room is an elegant chaos of clothes and jewelry scattered everywhere. Maura, visibly anxious, holds a dress in one hand and a pair of earrings in the other, her eyes betraying her inner turmoil. Jane is there, sitting on the bed, watching Maura with a mixture of amusement and love.
Maura says as she looks at her clothes,
"The red dress... Too bold? But the blue one is maybe too... conservative. And then, the jewelry! Are pearls too formal for a Christmas Eve with your family?"
Jane stands up, approaching Maura with a reassuring smile, gently taking the red dress from Maura's hands.
Jane takes the red dress and says
"You always look beautiful, but tonight I want you to feel like yourself, not some version of yourself you think you should be. The red one is you. It's bold, like us. »
Maura says with a nervous smile,
"But, Jane, it's not just the choice of outfit. It's... us. We're going to tell them tonight, your parents, Frankie and Nina. What if..."
Jane interrupts her with a kiss on the forehead,
"What if what, Maura? My parents adore you, and even more so since the attack on the police station so I think they're going to be very happy."
Maura takes a deep breath, her eyes landing on Jane with immense gratitude then says as she chooses the red dress,
"Okay. The red one. But the jewelry? Pearls or..."
Jane says as she picks out a pair of simple but elegant earrings,
"That. Simple, but it embodies elegance. Like you. And for the necklace..."
Jane chooses a shiny necklace, placing it around Maura's neck then says,
"This one, to remind her that you are still my light. »
Maura gets dressed then looks at herself in the mirror, the tension in her shoulders easing a little thanks to Jane's words and gestures then says in a soft voice:
"I love you, Jane. Thank you for being here, for supporting me. I don't know what I would do without you."
Jane replied after kissing Maura tenderly
"You'll never have to find out. We're a team, we're a couple, Maura and I love you! Tonight, we're going to show my family how strong this team is and how much we love each other!"
Jane smiles even more and says
"You know Ma told us Tommy was coming to introduce his girlfriend, if Pa or Ma ever mentions it, let me answer.
I don't want to spoil Tommy's surprise
It won't happen"
Once Maura is ready, Jane looks at her with love and admiration and says taking her hands:
"You're beautiful and I love you! »
Maura smiled and said
"I love you too! Shall we go?
Let's go. Let's not keep my parents waiting. Ma doesn't like it when we're late when she's cooking."
Tommy's Apartment
Tommy and his son TJ are in the living room, getting ready for Christmas Eve at the Rizzoli's. TJ is putting on his jacket, his hair neatly combed, an excited look on his face and says
"Dad, do I look good for Christmas Eve?"
Tommy says smiling and adjusting his son's tie,
"You look perfect, big guy."
Then Tommy takes a moment, his expression becoming more serious and asks,
"TJ? Do you love Susie?"
TJ answers with a big smile,
"Yes, Dad, she's very nice to me and she love me."
Tommy after taking a deep breath:
"I love her too but would you be okay with her coming to live with us?"
Tommy saw that TJ was thinking about what he had just heard and TJ says,
"She would be like Aunt Nina with Uncle Frankie?"
Yes, that would be it. She and I would be like your Aunt Nina and Uncle Frankie."
At these words, TJ rushes into his father's arms, his face lit up with joy and anticipation and says very happily,
"I'm going to have a mommy?"
Tommy hugs his son tightly and says with his voice filled with emotion
"Yes, my son!"
They stay hugged for a moment, the silence only broken by the sound of their shared happiness. Tommy feels a wave of relief and love invade him at seeing TJ's joy and then Tommy gets up, takes TJ's hand to head to the door and says
"Let's go, big guy. We're going to get Susie and then we'll have some big news to share with the family tonight."
They walk out of the house, hand in hand, and once they are out on the street with the snow falling gently around them, they are ready to celebrate not only Christmas but also the beginning of a new life and about twenty minutes later, they are standing in front of Susie's door, TJ holding his father's hand, his eyes shining with excitement.
Tommy looking at TJ with an encouraging smile says
"So? Are we going to pick Susie up for New Year's Eve at your nonno and nonna's? And then you'll tell her that you're very happy that she's coming to live with us!"
TJ nods vigorously, a big smile on his face and says
"Yes, Pa! I want to tell her!"
Susie's house, before Tommy and TJ arrive
Susie is in her bedroom, made up, surrounded by clothes thrown on the bed. She holds a red and white dress in her hands, scrutinizing it with an intensity mixed with hope and doubt. The early evening, the snow and the decorations create an almost magical atmosphere.
Susie whispers to herself
"The red and white... Maybe it's a sign? Those are the colors of Christmas"
She tries on the dress in front of the mirror, turning sideways, observing every detail.
Susie smiling says
"Yes, that could be it. For tonight, for us"
She puts on the dress, adjusting each fold carefully, feeling a wave of confidence rise in her. She then chooses simple but elegant earrings and a bracelet that belonged to her mother, each piece chosen with a precise intention.
Susie looks at herself in the mirror, takes a deep breath and says while looking at a picture of herself with Tommy and TJ, "For you, Tommy. For you, TJ. For us." She sits on the edge of the bed, waiting for them to arrive, her fingers nervously playing with her bracelet. Her heart beats faster with each passing minute. Susie says, "They're coming. Everything's going to be okay."
A few minutes later
The doorbell rings, making Susie jump with joy and anticipation. She takes one last breath, heading towards the door with a smile that reflects both her nervousness and excitement.
Susie opens the door and sees Tommy and TJ and says
"You're here! I was... I'm ready, I think."
Tommy looks her up and down, an admiring smile and says
"Wow, Susie. You look... beautiful."
TJ smiling says
"Susie, you look like a Christmas angel!
Thank you, you two look very elegant. Nice suit TJ, you look really beautiful."
TJ blushes which makes Tommy and Susie smile
Susie says
"I was a little nervous, but with you here, I feel better."
Tommy says taking Susie's hand,
"You have no reason to be nervous. We love you very much… and I love you very much"
TJ said taking Susie's other hand
"And we're going to show how happy we are!"
Susie replied squeezing their hands, feeling a flood of emotions
"Yes, I agree. I love you too, shall we?"
Tommy gave a big Rizzoli smile and said:
"You know, I want to tell you something but TJ wants to tell you"
Susie smiled and said
"Tell me everything"
TJ blushed again and said
"Susie! Daddy wants you to come live with us! I'd be so happy!"
Susie, surprised but filled with joy, kneels down to hug TJ, her gaze rising to Tommy with questions in her eyes.
Susie very moved said
"Is it true, Tommy?"
Tommy came closer, his smile confirming TJ's words and said
"Yes, it's true. If you'll have us, of course. TJ and I love you very much, and we want to build a family with you."
Susie who had tears in her eyes, hugging TJ against her replied:
"Oh, Tommy... TJ... I never would have imagined... Yes, I would love that. »
TJ who was still in Susie's arms said
"And we can draw pictures together, and you can read stories with me, and..."
Susie laughing through her tears said
"Of course TJ! All that and more, big guy."
Tommy reached out to help Susie up, and they formed a circle, the three of them together, in an embrace that symbolized the beginning of their new life together.
Tommy with a voice filled with warmth said
"Let's go then. Family is waiting for us, and we have great news to share."
They prepared to leave, Susie now filled with a new confidence, her outfit chosen with love and hope, ready to face the evening not just as a guest, but as an integral part of this new family.
At the same time at Frankie and Nina's house
Frankie and Nina are in their bedroom, getting ready for Christmas Eve at the Rizzolis'. Frankie adjusts his tie in front of the mirror while Nina finishes putting on her dress. The air is filled with pre-festive excitement, but also a hint of curiosity.
Frankie with a smile says,
"You know, Ma told me Tommy's bringing someone over tonight. I wonder who Tommy's girlfriend is."
Nina turns to Frankie, an earring in her hand says,
"Really? He's been pretty quiet about it. I wonder the same thing. Do you think we know her?"
Maybe, maybe not. With Tommy, you can expect anything. He always had a taste for surprises, we saw it with Lydia who was the daughter of one of our old English teachers
Nina smiling and adjusting Frankie's tie said
"Well, I'm sure it'll be someone special if he brings her for Christmas. I just hope it's someone who will make TJ happy. "
Frankie took Nina's hands, squeezing them gently said
"Yes, TJ deserves that. And Tommy too because he's never really had much luck in the emotional sphere. Unlike me."
Then Frankie kissed Nina who smiled and they continued to get ready, each lost in their thoughts about Tommy's mysterious companion.
As she started to put on her coat, Nina said
"Do you think it's serious between them?"
Frankie said helping Nina put on her coat:
"If Tommy brings her for Christmas, it must be pretty serious. It's a big step, even for him.
Nina grabs her bag, ready to leave, and says
"Well, we're going to find out soon. Let's go, or we'll miss the big reveal."
Frankie and Nina walk out of their apartment, the excitement of the evening pushing them forward, along with their shared curiosity about the identity of Tommy's new girlfriend
Rizzoli House
Frank Sr. and Angela are in their living room, decorated for Christmas with a warmth that can only be found in a family home. The table is set for Christmas Eve, and soft Christmas music floats in the air. They are both in a mixture of excitement and anticipation, checking the last details.
Angela as she finishes setting the table says:
"Do you think they'll be on time this time?"
Frank Sr. replies looking at his watch with an indulgent smile:
"With this gang? We can dream, Angie. But at least they'll all be there."
Angela sits down next to her husband and looks at the family photos on the mantel:
"I'm just glad Tommy is bringing someone. He deserves to be happy."
Frank Sr. looks at his wife then looks at the photos himself and says
"Yeah, he's been waiting a long time for this. And TJ needs a mother figure in his life. »
Angela with a hint of nervousness says
"I just hope everything goes well. This is a big step for Tommy."
Frank Sr taking his wife's hand says
"We'll welcome her as one of us. That's what we do, right? She wants to be part of the family, and we'll welcome her with open arms."
A comfortable silence falls, everyone lost in their thoughts of the evening ahead, the joy of the reunion and the unknown of the new member of their family.
Angela gets up to check the food in the oven and says
"Do you think she'll be nervous? Tommy's girlfriend?"
Frank Sr getting up to help her and says
"If she's with our Tommy, she's already got some courage. But yeah, this is a big first for her. We'll make sure she feels at home." »
Angela smiles, adjusts her apron and says
"We've always known how to do that, make people feel comfortable. It's perhaps one of our greatest talents"
The sound of a car pulling up makes them turn to the window, excitement building.
Frank Sr. looks out the window and says,
"Oh? There's Jane and Maura, no wonder they're the first ones to arrive. Ready for the big night, Angie?"
Angela laughs and says,
"Always, Frank. It's Christmas, after all."
Outside the Rizzoli House Door
Christmas night is quiet and serene, the snow falling gently and piling up everywhere. Jane and Maura arrive, their car pulling up in front of the house lit up with holiday lights. They get out, holding presents and silverware, ready for Christmas Eve. Maura looks slightly nervous, while Jane flashes a reassuring smile.
Jane looks at Maura lovingly and says,
"Ready for this?
As much as I can be. It's just... it's a big moment, Jane. You know I love Rizzoli Christmases."
Jane kisses Maura on the cheek and says
"We're together. That's all that matters. And my parents love you."
They walk to the door, and before they can knock, Angela opens it, her face lighting up at the sight of her daughter and Maura.
Angela hugs both women and says
"Girls! You made it here! Come in, come in before you catch a cold!"
Frank Sr. who is behind Angela and says with a smile,
"Jane, Maura, good evening! You look beautiful tonight.
Maura smiles, a little nervous and says,
"Thank you Mr. Rizzoli. That's very kind."
Frank Sr. says
"Call me Frank. You know I mean it."
They enter, the warm and festive atmosphere of the Rizzoli home enveloping them. Angela takes the coats, her eyes sparkling with excitement and says, pointing to the covered dishes
"So, what did you bring in here?"
Jane says
"Maura wanted to try some of your recipes."
Maura laughs slightly and says
"I hope you enjoy."
Frank Sr. exchanges a look with Angela and says
"We're sure it'll be very good."
Frank Sr. turns to the two women and says
"Come on, make yourselves comfortable. The others should be here any moment."
Jane and Maura exchange a look, a mixture of nervousness and excitement for what they are about to reveal. They settle in, Maura looking around, feeling the weight of love and acceptance that permeates the room.
Maura says quietly, to Jane,
"It's the right day, isn't it?"
Jane takes Maura's hand and says
"Yes, it's the right day."
Jane and Maura are sitting comfortably, the atmosphere festive with the Christmas lights flickering softly. Frank Sr. approaches with a bottle of wine, pouring each a glass and says,
"You know we have a surprise tonight. Tommy is bringing his girlfriend."
It was Jane who spoke to keep Maura from breaking out in hives. Jane says
"Ma, you warned us and we can't wait to find out who it is. Has he given you any clues?"
He's been pretty quiet. But he seems serious about this one. He wants us to meet her tonight. »
Jane turned to Maura with a knowing smile and said
"Well, I guess we won't be the only ones surprising the family tonight."
Maura chuckling softly said
"Indeed, it seems to be a night of revelations."
Frank Sr. took a sip of wine, eyeing the two women and said
"It is Christmas, after all. The perfect time for new beginnings and big announcements but tell me, you and Maura, you look like you're up to something too."
Jane and Maura exchanged a look, the excitement of their own secret mixing with Tommy's news.
Jane smiling said
"Maybe so Pa but we're waiting for everyone to get here. It's a night for surprises, apparently."
Maura said in a soft voice
"Yes, we have something to share... but after Tommy. We don't want to steal the show from his big moment.
You know that whatever it is, you have our support.
Thanks Pa, that's very kind."
Frank Sr. smiled and said
"That's what families do, right? They support each other no matter what."
Ten minutes later, the front door opens again, letting in a breath of fresh Christmas night air. Frankie and Nina appear, wrapped in winter coats, their faces lit up with excitement for the holiday and curiosity for the evening to come. Angela and Frank Sr. greet them with hugs and smiles.
Angela hugging Nina and Frankie:
"My other two favorite children! Didn't you have any trouble on the way with this snow?"
Frankie laughing and taking off his coat says
"We wouldn't miss it for the world, Ma. Christmas at the Rizzolis, it's sacred."
Nina smiling says
"It was still passable. And besides, we heard there would be announcements tonight!"
Frank Sr. says nodding toward the living room:
"Come on, come on, Jane and Maura are already here. And we're waiting for Tommy with his mysterious guest."
They enter the living room where Jane and Maura are sitting, eyes meeting with welcoming smiles.
Jane getting up to hug Frankie and Nina says
"You're finally here! We were wondering if you'd get lost in the gathering storm
Nina says laughing, "We almost got lost but it was still passable and the prospect of finding out who Tommy's new conquest is guided us nicely."
Frankie says:
"So, you two seem to be up to something too. Are we in for a double scoop tonight?"
Maura smiling, a little nervous says
"Let's just say it's a night of revelations. But we're letting Tommy take the first turn."
Nina sitting down and looking around curiously says
"I'm so intrigued. Tommy always has a secret to keep."
Frankie leans over to Nina says
"Well, I hope she's ready for the Rizzoli madness. We don't do things by halves here."
Everyone laughs, the atmosphere lightening even more and the room is filled with joyous anticipation, everyone eagerly awaiting what the evening has in store, not only in terms of festivities but also new relationships and unexpected announcements.
Thirty minutes after Frankie and Nina arrive, the door opens again, letting in a gust of winter wind. Tommy enters, holding TJ's hand, who immediately runs to greet his grandparents and aunts and uncles.
TJ very excited said
"Nonno, Nonna! Aunt Jane, Aunt Maura! Uncle Frankie, Aunt Nina! Merry Christmas!"
Everyone greets TJ with hugs and happy exclamations, but attention quickly turns to the person who enters after Tommy. Susie appears, a shy but happy smile on her face, holding a covered dish. The astonishment is palpable, but this time with a touch of recognition.
Tommy with obvious pride in his voice, holding Susie's hand says
"This is Susie, the woman who shares my life."
Angela rushing to hug Susie says
"Welcome to the family, Susie! You work with Jane, Frankie and Nina right?"
"Yes Mrs. Rizzoli! I'm the criminalist they work with
Don't call me Mrs. Rizzoli, the people who share my children's lives call me Angela"
Susie says moved
Frank Sr. said shaking Susie's hand
"I'm very happy Susie and welcome to my family. We already know you a little bit but it's a surprise to see you here like this and call me Frank!
Thank you very much... Frank"
Jane said approaching Susie smiling
"Well, wow, Susie. We go from colleagues to family members. Not only have you won Tommy's heart but you've won TJ's heart as well."
Frankie said
"I'm very happy to have you as my sister-in-law."
TJ who was against Susie looked at his father and Tommy nodded and TJ said
"Susie is going to live with Pa and me! We're going to be a real family!"
After hearing that, Angela hugged first Susie then Tommy and said
"This is really a great Christmas!"
Frankie smiling
"Susie, you kept that little secret from us well. Well done, little brother, and welcome, Susie."
Nina hugs Susie warmly and says
"I knew you were special, but this is a fantastic surprise. Welcome to the big Rizzoli family."
Maura watches the scene, a sweet smile on her face and says
"Susie, I'm so happy for you both."
Susie very happy says
"Thank you all. I'm really happy to be here. Tommy and TJ have told me so much about you, but to be here like this... it's special."
Tommy looks around, pride and love written all over his face, then he turns to Susie, taking her hand again and says
«I knew you'd like her. After all, she's the woman who changed my life... and TJ's. "
Angela says
"Of course we do! But why did you hide her profession?
If I had told you she was a criminal lawyer, you would have guessed and the surprise wouldn't have been the same"
Frank Sr says
"That's true. Anyway, let's eat, your mother has spent some time cooking and I can't wait to taste Maura and Susie's dishes"
The family settles around the large Christmas table, decked out with steaming dishes and festive decorations. TJ rushes to sit between Tommy and Susie, his face alight with excitement at being at the center of this new family dynamic.
TJ says,
"Nonna? Can I be between Pa and Susie?"
Angela says, smiling and helping TJ settle in.
"Okay, big guy. I was going to tell you to sit between them, by the way."
Everyone settles in, conversation buzzing with the latest news and family jokes. Frank Sr., at the head of the table, looks at Susie with benevolent interest and asks,
"So, Susie, how did you and Tommy meet?" I want to know how my son managed to seduce you"
Susie chuckles lightly, glancing at Tommy:
"It's thanks to Maura actually, well unintentionally, I needed help finding a good plumber, and she recommended Tommy for the repairs. He came over and then we started talking, seeing each other again and then dating, and that's it"
Tommy says
"And let's just say I knew she was attracted to me, the day I spilled some coffee on her dress and she didn't say anything"
Everyone laughs, the image of Tommy being clumsy adding a touch of lightness to the story.
Susie continues and says
"But it was more than that. We discovered we shared a lot of interests, and then one day Tommy came over with TJ and I loved him the moment I saw him, he's so cute."
TJ proudly says,
"I showed my dinosaur drawings to Susie, and she told me they were great!"
Angela with a fond smile says
"It's so simple and beautiful. It reminds me of when I first saw Francesco."
Tommy says
"Thank you, Maura for recommending me to Susie."
Maura replies
"You're welcome Tommy, I'm so glad it worked out between you and it made TJ very happy."
Frankie raising his glass says
"To Tommy and Susie, for finding love and to TJ, for having a new mom."
Everyone raises their glasses in a toast, the atmosphere at the table warming even more, each member of the family feeling connected by this new story of love and family that is added to their Christmas tradition.
The Christmas meal is coming, the table is a festival of colors and flavors, with traditional dishes and specialties brought by each member of the family. Laughter bursts forth, family anecdotes are exchanged, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie. Susie feels more and more integrated into this family fabric. Angela says, laughing softly:
"Remember that time Tommy tried to make a cake for Mother's Day? It was everywhere
I was 7, Mom! And I just wanted to make you happy."
Susie smiling, looking at Tommy fondly said "I'm sure it was a very... original cake."
Frankie said
"Original is the word. It looked like a volcano erupting!"
Jane laughing said
"The Boston volcano! We laughed about it for days."
Angela said
Angela says
"I really appreciated the thought and Tommy made a cake again but this time, under my supervision"
Everyone laughs, and Susie feels the warmth of the Rizzoli family's acceptance and the laughter redoubles.
TJ enthusiastically asks
"Susie, will you teach me how to make desserts like that? Desserts that surprise!"
Susie, ruffling TJ's hair, says:
"Of course, TJ. We'll make surprising desserts together."
The evening progresses, Christmas time approaches, and after the meal, the family is gathered in the living room around the fireplace, where a warm fire burns. The lights of the Christmas tree flicker softly, adding to the festive atmosphere. Between laughter and joyful conversations, Frank Sr. takes a moment, looking at Maura and Jane with a smile full of tenderness:
"Maura? I think you and Jane had something to tell us. »
There is silence, not of awkwardness, but of joyful anticipation. Jane and Maura exchange a look, a mixture of excitement and nervousness in their eyes.
Jane takes Maura's hand and the two women stand and Jane says
"You've all been busy sharing stories, but yes, we have an... announcement."
Maura shakes Jane's hand and says
"Jane and I... we're a couple. We wanted to share this news with you tonight."
A murmur of surprise spreads through the room, quickly replaced by smiles and exclamations of joy.
Angela stands up to hug Maura and Jane and says
"Oh, my darlings! I'm so happy for you! You're perfect for each other. I've been dreaming of this moment for so long.
Tommy says, raising his glass, "To Jane and Maura! Who finally found love, right under their noses!"
Susie says, smiling broadly, "That's wonderful! Congratulations to you both!"
Frankie says
"That explains why you two were always so close and even more so lately! Well done, girls!"
Frank Sr. says
"I'm so thrilled and happy to see Jane with someone who truly loves and understands her. Welcome to my family, Maura!" »
Nina says:
"I'm so happy for you. This is an amazing Christmas!"
TJ says
"Does that mean Aunt Maura and Aunt Jane are getting married like Uncle Frankie and Aunt Nina?"
The adults laughed heartily, TJ's innocence bringing a touch of purity to the moment.
Jane leaned down to kiss TJ on the head and said,
"Maybe someday, TJ, but for now your Aunt Maura and I are going to enjoy the fact that we can live together in the open and we are very happy to share this moment with all of you."
Angela said,
"I hope you get married very soon! I love weddings and you have known each other for years."
Jane smiled and said,
"Ma, give us some time okay?"
Frank Sr. put his hand on his daughter's shoulder and said,
"Janie, you know how your mother is, until those three children are married and have children, she will not give up! »
Angela turned to her husband and said,
"Don't tell me you don't want to attend your other two children's weddings and that you don't want to be a grandfather again because I won't believe you!"
Frank Sr. raised his hands in surrender and said with a smile,
"Okay Angela! I admit it, I want it too."
The evening has reached its peak, the clock strikes midnight, and an anticipated silence falls. The lights on the Christmas tree shine brighter, as if waiting for this moment. Frank Sr stands up, holding a glass of champagne.
Frank Sr looks at his growing family says "Midnight! Merry Christmas everyone! Merry Christmas to my entire family that now has two more members"
Angela says
"Merry Christmas, my beloved family! You have no idea how happy I am!"
Jane after hugging Maura says
"Merry Christmas, everyone. Thank you for your love and acceptance and Maura, I love you with all my heart
Maura says with a radiant smile
"Merry Christmas to you all and Jane, thank you for loving me"
Then Maura hugs Jane.
Tommy holding Susie's hand and looking at her and looking at TJ says
"Merry Christmas TJ and Merry Christmas Susie. »
Then he hugs Susie and says
"See, sweetheart. We have our own little miracle here."
Susie, very moved, says after hugging Tommy and then after hugging TJ on the cheek
"Merry Christmas, my new family. I'm happier than I can express."
TJ, overjoyed, says
"Merry Christmas! Santa already brought me two presents: a new mommy and Aunt Maura and Aunt Jane who are in love."
Everyone laughs, the purity of TJ's joy adding a touch of magic to the moment.
Frankie hugs Nina and says
"Merry Christmas, my love. And Merry Christmas to our extended family, I couldn't have asked for more."
Nina kisses Frankie and says
"Merry Christmas, love of my life!"
Then she says
"Merry Christmas to all, and I hope we have more days as beautiful as this one!"
Frank Sr. says tenderly to his wife:
"Look Angela, could you have imagined having a family as beautiful as this one?"
Angela smiles and says
"Our family is perfect Frank! Merry Christmas my love!"
Then she kisses her husband who kisses her back, "Merry Christmas my darling!"
Glasses clink together in a joyous chorus, everyone feeling the warmth of family love, the magic of Christmas manifesting not only in the decorations, but in the strengthened bonds and open hearts and everyone began to sing Christmas carols and then half an hour later, the house quiets down, TJ is in bed, and a peaceful atmosphere envelops the living room. The adults are still gathered, but the atmosphere is more intimate, with conversations that are deeper.
Angela looking at Jane and Maura with a tender smile asks
"So, how did it go? How did you realize that you were more than friends?"
Maura takes Jane's hand and says and with a tender smile on her lips
«It's been a slow evolution, I would say. We've always been very close, you all know that but there was this moment where I realized that not only did I want to share not only a great friendship with Jane but also my heart. We were working on a particularly difficult case, and Jane was there, not as a detective, not as a friend but as the woman who made my heart beat."
Jane says
"And I felt the same way after I refused to follow Casey to Germany. Maura came to comfort me and then... and then... that's it!"
Tommy with a mischievous smile says
"So it was a matter of the heart and crime, huh?"
Everyone laughs, the atmosphere relaxing even more.
Jane laughs
"Sort of. We started doing even more things together outside of work, and each moment went by too quickly. And then there was this trip, a medical conference in Charlotte where I accompanied Maura. There, away from the stress of Boston, it was just the two of us, and it was really very nice and that's when Maura and I realized that we made the right decision."
Frankie smiling said
"That explains why you two always had a special chemistry. I'm glad you found your way to each other"
Jane saw a slight worry cross Maura's face and Maura a little worried, looks at Frank Sr and says
"Mr. Rizzoli..."
Frank Sr interrupts her with a smile
"Maura, how many times have I told you to call me Frank? You are Jane's girlfriend and before that you were her best friend and you saved Jane and Frankie's lives and it's thanks to you that Jane was able to regain the use of her hands after the Hoyt case."
Maura blushed slightly, touched by the appreciation and the memory of the difficult times then said:
"Frank... aren't you worried that... your only daughter... Jane... is in love with a woman... will cause you trouble?"
Frank Sr. smiled, and he looked at Maura with a determined look then he said
"Wait!"
Frank Sr. stood up and left the room briefly to come back with a wrench in his right hand, his expression becoming serious but caring and said in a firm voice
"If anyone messes with my girls, they'll have to deal with me! That's what I said when Frankie came to introduce us to Nina! I'm telling you Maura and I'm telling you Susie! You don't mess with my family and you're my family!"
Maura saw Frank Sr.'s look and saw that it was the same look Jane had when she was questioning a suspect and she knew he was serious.
Everyone in the room laughed softly, Maura's tension melting away at Frank Sr.'s show of support.
Jane hugged Maura and said, "See? You're really part of this family."
Angela with motherly pride said
"And besides, Maura, you bring so much to this family."
Tommy said laughing
"And if anyone has a problem with that, they'll have to deal with not only Pa and his wrench but all of us."
Susie smiling and looking at Maura said
"You're the perfect person for Jane."
Frankie said
"We Rizzolis don't let any member of our family get insulted or threatened without doing something about it and you and Susie are part of the Rizzoli family!"
Nina said taking Maura's hand
"You have our whole family behind you. We're a team."
Maura, surrounded by this family reassurance and love, feels her worries disappear, replaced by a deep gratitude and a sense of belonging and she looks at Susie and notices that Susie feels the same way she does.
Susie and Maura look at the people who make their hearts beat and feel very happy and in love
Frank Sr and Angela look at their new family and think that it is perfect and that this Christmas will be one to remember and they can't wait for Jane and Tommy to marry the women in their lives.
