Guess who's back!
First off, I want to say thank you. Thank you to all who supported me for revealing the truth about myself, were understanding about it and begged me not to quit Fanfiction. I had thought that I would be met with pitchforks and angry hate comments, but you all surprised me. You complimented me for revealing the truth, understood that I was trying to be better and wished me luck in whether or not I would stay on Fanfiction or quit. You guys are the best readers a guy could ask for, because I enjoy Fanfiction. It's a good hobby that takes my mind off anything personal, but lately I had too much on my plate in my life that needed to my attention, so my hiatus had to happen.
I had to deal with a bad infection from a tooth abscess, which resulted in me going to hospital to get surgery done for it to be removed and drained, then spend several days healing before I could get released. And even then, I had to take it easy. There are also other things that needed my attention, but those are personal to me alone.
But now I'm back, and ready to keep cranking out chapters and stories for you guys, to be better than I was before and learn from my mistakes.
Disclaimer: I do not own Jurassic World. I only own the OC Jason Grady.
Wu stood in the lab's security room, checking Jason's vitals to make sure nothing had changed as an after-affect of his... transformation. The doctor still couldn't believe what he had accomplished; transforming a human being into a dinosaur. He knew that this was a war crime, as it falls under illegal human experimentation. If anyone were to find out about this... prison would be the last thing to worry abou. This could get him the death penalty, especially considering the fact the subject of the experiment was not legally an adult.
Wu ran a hand down his face, exhaling almost tiredly. 'What's done is done. There's no changing it, or him, back. All in the name of science.' He cursed Hoskins for his unyielding ambition to see a Velociraptor as the next weapon for the military.
Speak of the Devil and he shall appear.
"How is he?" Hoskins asked as soon as he entered the room, shutting the door behind him then looked through the glass to the room containing the still-sleeping human-turned-Velociraptor, or Indoraptor.
"Stable and sleeping like a baby. Nothing has changed." Wu said, writing some notes down. "But of course, that's just the physical stuff. We don't know if this could've done some damage to his mental state. He might not even maintain anything human anymore."
"All the better." Hoskins smirked. "If there's no human will to resist, he'll be easier to train and tame into a weapon. But if there is still the human side within, I'm certain he'll listen over time."
Wu eyed him scornfully. "You are taking big risks here, Hoskins. This has never been done before. We are in unknown territory-"
"you're a scientist, aren't you? And scientists love delving into the unknown." Hoskins countered with a glare at the doctor. He gestured to Jason's form. "This is as unknown as it gets, the chance to discover something greater and your name will be remembered for it. Perhaps this is the key. The key to curing diseases-"
"Oh my God." Wu rolled his eyes. "First you talk about this being done in the name of the military getting it's greatest weapon to save the lives of soldiers, now you're talking about curing diseases? What do you think I am, Hoskins? God? We have played God many times and done something that could see us earn the death penalty."
"Which we won't get if we keep it between us." Hoskins said firmly. He grabbed a chair and sat down on it. "When he wakes up, the test begins. We see if he remembers anything, his intelligence, and if he can act like a predator."
"Why are you doing this, Hoskins?" Wu asked him. "You can't get Grady's raptors, so you turn his nephew into one to get a better chance?"
"This boy bonded with Owen's raptors in minutes while it took Owen three years." Hoskins countered. "From what I know of pack hierarchy, those who are seen as a better, stronger Alpha will be followed and accepted. This boy, who is now one of them. presents that very image. The raptors will have to accept him as their Alpha, and they'll follow him. We control him, we control the other four and they'll be less of a trouble to handle when put to use for the military. Now, let's go over this test."
Wu sighed and picked up a clipboard. "First, we'll see if he can understand us, give him a couple of puzzles to solve which will help show his intelligence and if he's maintaining his human side and hasn't succumbed to the dinosaur side. We'll also see if his memories are intact, and then we'll put him into a hunting test. And your wrong about him easily being accepted as Alpha."
"Oh?" Hoskins raised a brow.
"He'd have to challenge the current Alpha and either kill or make him submit to get the position." Wu said flatly. "And we are not having Owen's own nephew try to kill him. If his memories are intact, he'll refuse."
Hoskins remained silent, begrudgingly admitting that, but it didn't stop his mind from plotting on how to overcome that obstacle. But he was patient. All good things to those who wait, after all. He then stood and patted the doctor's shoulder. "Well, give me a call to see how the test went/ I'm going to make sure Owen isn't loisng his shit with his nephew gone missing."
With that, he left the room.
Owen groaned as he stirred from his sleep thanks to the sun shining through his window and onto his face, causing his face to scrunch up at the light before he turned over and groaned into his pillow. He sat up, blinking his eyes open to get some of the sleepiness away. He let out a yawn and stretched his arms until he heard some pops in his shoulders.
"Time to get up." He muttered.
Getting out of bed, Owen got dressed into his usual attire of shirt, vest and jeans, then went into the bathroom to handle nature's call followed by brushing his teeth and tidying his hair up a bit. Once that was done, he left his bungalow and went over to the trailer to wake Jason up.
"hey Jason, you up?" He asked, knocking on the door only to get no response. "You want to see the girls again?"
Again, still no response.
"Jason?" Owen opened the door and entered, his frown deepening when he saw no sign of his nephew. The bed covers were neatly tidied as if they hadn't been touched. Maybe Jason had gotten up early and went off somewhere, maybe into the park. Some guests do like to get started early, even though most of the attractions aren't open until around 9AM sharp.
Fishing through his jean pocket, Owen draws his phone and calls Barry, who answered a few seconds later. "Owen?"
"Hey Barry, are you at the paddock?" Owen asked.
"Yes, the girls are fine. A little agitated for some reason, but in a good mood nonetheless." Barry said. Well, that was good. Most mornings the girls were a nightmare to handle, for different reasons but nobody ever said raptors were morning creatures. Even they want their rest and a break. At least, that's how Owen sees it. But it was nice to hear they were in an okay mood this morning, which was a rarity.
"Good to hear. Is Jason there?" Owen asked. Maybe that was why the girls were in a good mood. They liked Jason and were growing a bond with him, which was good for when Owen intended to have Jason work with him in training the girls.
''No. Jason hasn't shown up, why is there a problem?'' He asks, concerned with what's happening.
Owen exhales, rubbing his face with his hand, trying to get the stress off his face. ''It's just he's nowhere near my trailer, he might be lost or something.'' He said, worried that something has happened to his nephew. There had been some accidents in the past, none too fatal, though some reckless kids have tried to enter a carnivore's enclosure before. His nephew wasn't like that.
''Owen, I'm sure he's fine. The boy is in Jurassic World, he might have wanted to see the other dinosaurs.'' Barry said, trying to reassure his friend.
''Maybe but, what if he's not?''
He hears Barry take a deep breath on the phone. ''Look, if Jason doesn't come back to your trailer tonight then well go out looking for him, OK?'' He tells him, trying to keep Owen from stressing out.
Owen sighed in defeat. ''Alright fine, I'll be at the raptor paddock soon.''He said, hanging up the phone.
Owen walks over to his bike and hops on. 'Please be OK, Jason.' He thought before driving off.
'Fuck, my head hurts.' Jason thought as he started to come to only to be met with the nightmare of all headaches, worse than any he had experienced before. It was like someone was banging a hammer against his skull, and had a jackhammer drilling on the other side but his skull was impenetrable and unbreakable, so nothing was happening.
Not the best analogy, but that's how his head was feeling. In fact, his whole body was in pain. Like it had been tugged and pulled around repeatedly without causing serious damage.
As Jason started to come to, he began recollecting what happened; he had been about to go to bed last night when he was attacked by some mystery guys, then everything went black. Now he's waking up with his whole body in utter pain. And not only that, but he felt... different.
He exhaled, and was confused when his nose flares up with various smells. Not only that, but his mouth felt different, tongue too. Were his teeth meant to be that sharp?
He tried to roll and shift position, but his legs felt weirder as well. They felt... like he had never skipped leg day, and there was something on his toes. Wait, his toes felt different as well. Curious, he clenched and heard something scraping against metal. Toes don't make that sound against metal.
He shifted his arms, and they felt different, same as his fingers.
He finally opened his eyes and regretted that decision.
"What the fuck?!" He shouted, though a raptor screech came from his vocal chords as he saw his body; his raptor-looking body. He stared wide eyed at his changed legs, with the raptor sickle claw on each, his long arms with razor sharp claws that could cut through flesh like a hot knife through butter, his face... now a snout and he felt the sharp teeth in his gums. He shifted, turning his head to examine his body with his breaths shaking, panic filling his veins along with fear and confusion.
He had the body of a raptor, a bit bigger than a normal Velociraptor. He felt quills on his head, saw a red stripe going down his body that was similar to the stripe Blue had.
'No, no, no, no! No! No! No!' Jason shifted, falling off the table in the process. He stumbled on his legs, unused to this as his fear got to him. He turned around, his tail hitting the table and sending it into the wall which made him yelp as he looked wide-eyed.
He lifted his arms, feeling his snout. He then focused on his tail and had it wag like a dog's. He looked down at his legs, moving one of them to test it out, then tapped his sickle claw against the floor.
"What has been done to me?" Jason whispered in fear and horror. He looked up, startled, when there was a microphone tuning and he winced. Had his hearing improved as well? His eyesight was greater than before, his sense of smell, and now his hearing. He shook his head to shake it off as a voice came into the room.
"Hello, my name is Dr. Henry Wu and you, Jason, are the first subject of this experiment." The voice said.
"What did you do to me?!" Jason roared, though to Wu an actual raptor's roar was heard rather than human words.
"Hmm, it appears you haven't attained your human speech, but perhaps you can understand other dinosaurs now. Including the raptors. After all, the DNA that was injected into your bloodstream to make you like this consisted of another important asset as valuable as you." Wu said, humming in thought. "Now, Jason, I know you are confused-"
"Fucking understatement, buddy." Jason growled, his lip curling to reveal his teeth.
"But know that I did not do this with evil intent." Wu pressed on. "Now, before we get started, raise your head for me and straighten up, please."
Jason cocked his head before seeing his body was slouched a bit, so he straightened himself up, pushing off his arms and onto his legs. As he did, he took a look around the room more clearly, finding it was some kind of holding cell with a screen in it. There was also a mirror that had his reflection, and no doubt it was one of those two-way mirrors where another room was kept behind it, letting whoever was in there see him, but he couldn't see them.
"Interesting. You can crawl on all fours and push off onto your legs to walk like a normal raptor." Wu said, writing that down in his notes. "May help improve speed when running. Which makes me curious if you can run faster than the average 40 mph a raptor can run. Now, I want to make sure you can properly understand me. Raise a finger, or claw, please."
Jason looked at the mirror, turned his hand, and flipped up his middle claw with the corner of his mouth curling up into a smirk. 'How's that for a response?'
"Well, at least you can understand me." Wu scoffed, making Jason let out a chirp for laughter.
The screen one the wall suddenly turns on, showing what looks like a maths equation saying 1 + 1.
''For this test, were going to see if you still retain any intelligence or in a simple term, to see if your smart or dumb.'' Wu finishes.
For that, Jason gives the camera a glare. 'I'll show you who's dumb.' He thought before heading over to the screen and drawing a 2 in the answer box.
''Good, very good, now we're going to try something harder.'' He says before the screen resets, showing 6 x 5. In response, Jason wrote 30 in the box.
For the next half hour, Jason continued to answer maths questions and some English questions, which makes the human-turned-dinosaur think he's back in school again. After completing the final question, Dr. Wu speaks again.
''Alright, so it seems that you've kept your intelligence with you but, now for the real test…... do you remember your name?'' He asks.
Seeing how he can't speak to him, Jason wrote his name 'JASON' on the screen before facing the camera again.
''Excellent! Jason, you are going to change the world!' The first Indoraptor.' He says, before cutting off the microphone.
'The world?' Jason blinked. 'Does he want to do this to other people?! What kind of sick person works at a place like Jurassic World and has ideas of changing people into dinosaurs? What's the reason for it? Why is this happening to me?'
Jason looked around, sniffing the air, trying to find anything that could help him escape. He needed to get out of here. He needed to get out and try and find his uncle, get him to know what happened to him and hopefully find a cure to change him back. However, he saw no door unless it was one of those camouflaged doors that blended in with the walls, but there was the mirror...
'I'm getting the hell out of here!' Jason thought and charged at the mirror, lunging, but grunted when he slammed into the mirror which barely cracked from his weight slamming into it. He slid to the floor and shook his head, getting back up. He backed up, then charged again. He did it again. Still nothing.
Again...
And again...
And again...
And again...
Hoskins made his way to the lab's security room, as Wu had called him to let him know the test went well. Jason couldn't speak human anymore, but he still had his memories and intelligence, which was a great boon to the experiment in Hoskin's mind. Hoskins pushed in a code and entered, finding the doctor rubbing his forehead and Jason was... slamming into the mirror.
"is that breakable?" Hsokins asked warily.
Wu shot him a look. "If it wasn't, it would've broken after the third charge. That mirror is bulletproof, it was designed to stop a rampaging dinosaur from charging it. He's been at this for nearly thirty minutes now."
Hoskins chuckled in amusement. "Looks like he's not happy."
"You have no idea." Wu said, shooting him a 'of course he's not happy' look. What human would be happy to be forcefully turned into a dinosaur? Some kids may dream of that, but it was simply that; a dream. Nobody ever actually wants to be turned into something they aren't. Jason slammed into the mirror again. "That's the fiftieth time now."
"Fifty, and he's still going." Hoskins grinned. They watched as Jason gave a snarl and turned to go to a corner of the room, plopping down onto his side and curling up as best as he could with his new body. "So, the first test was a success, now we move onto getting him into the field."
Wu shot him a surprised look. "Now? There's still much needed to be done before I can send him out-"
"He's ready." Hoskins argued. "He has his memories, his intelligence, he's still human within. That'll keep him alive along with his new instincts. We need to see him in the field... and how he'll interact with others like him."
If Wu couldn't be any shocked, he was now. "You want me to put him with Owen's raptors? Do you have any idea what trying to tell Masrani as a cover-up will be like? What do you think will happen when we reveal this new asset that only myself and you know about, and we didn't tell him about it?"
Hoskins smirked. "Because we'll be telling him that we were simply experimenting with a new asset for the kids to enjoy once we deem him safe to be in his own paddock and put on display for them. But... let's just say there was a mishap and said asset escaped..."
"No way!" Wu shook his head. "I am not releasing him into the park. If he's getting out, it's in a secure area."
"We'll put a tracker in him." Hoskins said patiently. "We'll tranq him, have the tracking implant put into him like we do all dinosaurs, and then we take him to, say the Gallimimus field, and release him. The control room will get the alert of an asset out of containment."
"And how will that work to Owen taking him into the raptor enclosure?" Wu asked doubtfully.
"Owen won't allow me to weaponize his raptors, and no doubt any raptor because of his belief that 'they can't be controlled'. He'll want to take this one in order to keep him from me and under his eye." Hoskins explained. It sounded like a good plan in his mind, and he played the long game. In the end, it would be all worth it. The military would get its greatest weapon and soldiers wouldn't need to risk their lives anymore when they can unleash a deadly predator into the enemy's camp to be torn apart.
Wu puts his head in his hands. ''This has got to be the craziest plan I've ever heard. If this doesn't work, you're taking full responsibility!'' He says, pointing a finger at the head of security.
''And I will, now you get that tracker in him and will execute the plan tomorrow.'' Hoskins said, then left the room.
Wu shook his head. "That man is insane." He muttered, then looked towards the sleeping form of Jason before going to get the necessary tools to put Jason under and get the tracking implant inside him.
And that's it for this chapter. I hope Jason's reaction to his transformed state was believable. It feels a lot better when writing it in third person, as opposed to when I did it in first person in the last version.
