Season 1 Episode 4: Bubbler
The morning starts in Marinette's room, Marinette Dupain-Cheng is sleeping alongside her partner Pokémon, Piplup, and her kwami, Tikki, lying on her chest when she is suddenly woken up by her cellphone alarm clock. Marinette wakes up in a hurry, which makes Tikki go flying off and accidently pushes Piplup off the bed. She jumps down the stairs and say "Happy birthday- ow!" before she slips and hits her chaise. Despite that, she gets back up, twirls around and continues to say "Happy birthday!" as she gets on her computer and turns it on, revealing her desktop background to be a collage of Adrien Agreste's pictures. "Ah! Happy birthday, Adrien." She makes kissing noises towards the screen, but gets interrupted when she notices her Pokémon stumbling around after falling on her head. Annoyed, Piplup shows an angry grunt as Marinette smiles awkwardly.
Meanwhile in Adrien's bathroom, Adrien is brushing his teeth while his Sprigatito his licking his paws, pampering himself up, when Adrien's kwami, Plagg, floats next to him and says "Happy birthday, Adrien!" as he brings a piece of Camembert cheese wrapped with a red bow.
Adrien stops brushing and responds with disgust in his voice, "Ugh, Plagg! Get that filthy piece of Camembert out of my face!" and plugs his nose. Hearing this, Sprigatito pats his paws on the counter which releases a pleasant smell which Adrien enjoys. "Ahh, thanks Sprigatito." Plagg shrugs as he smiles and eats the cheese.
Back at the Dupain-Cheng house, Marinette and Piplup are walking down the stairs while she's carrying a gift in her hands. Sabine and Mienshao are in the kitchen drinking tea when she suddenly notices her daughter and says, "Marinette, don't forget to clean your room after school today."
"Mom! It's Friday, and I'm already doing something with Alya." Marinette said with an unenthused toned.
Sabine responds, "Fine, Mienshao and I will go ahead and clean it, but don't blame us if we come across any of your private stuff, like your e-mails, your diary—"
Hastily, Marinette makes a nervous face and says to her mom, "Okay! I'll do it, I'll do it." She then goes up to her mom, gives her a kiss, and starts to leave with Piplup following.
"Have a nice day, sweetie!" Sabine said as Marinette was halfway out the door.
As she closes the door, Marinette says to her mom, "Happy birthday- I mean, have a nice day!" before she leaves.
Sabine has a surprised face as she turns towards Mienshao, but they both shrugs as they continue to drink their tea.
In the Agreste Mansion, Adrien is looking sad as he eating alone at a big dining table with only Sprigatito who is eating Pokémon food on the floor next to him. "Your schedule, Adrien." Nathalie said as she walks up to him and hands him a tablet.
"Thanks, Nathalie." Adrien responded as he takes it. As Nathalie starts to leave, he tries to her as his face lights up, "Hey, um, my father get back to you about my birthday party?"
Nathalie says to him, "Well, um- He doesn't think it would be a good idea."
Adrien turns sad again and says softly "'Course not."
Nathalie turns back to him and says, "Happy birthday, Adrien." She then proceeds to leave the room.
Outside of academy, Nino is talking to Adrien while he blows bubbles with Squirtle by his side. "Dude, seriously? Has your dad always been such a downer? You'd think he'd at least remember what it was like to be young and wanna party a little."
"No, I'm pretty sure he was a downer back then too." Adrien replied as he holds Sprigatito in his arms. "Well, at least I tried."
Nino then wraps one arm around Adrien and tells him "It's your b-day, dude! Insist!"
Meanwhile, Alya and Marinette are hiding nearby out of sight with their Pokémon. Alya is trying to encourage Marinette "You can do it, you can do it!"
"I can do it, I can do it!" Marinette repeated.
"Pip-Piplup! Pip-Piplup!" Piplup said as well ("You can do it, you can do it!")
Nino tells Adrien, "You know what, I'm gonna have a little convo with your pops." Squirtle stands next to them and squirts water into the air with support. Nino laughs as he says to his Pokémon and says "Thanks for the encouragement little dude."
"Don't waste your time. He's not gonna change his mind." Adrien responded with a sad tone in his voice. Sprigatito looks up at his trainer and becomes sad.
Marinette pops up to look at Adrien while he's not looking and suddenly fills with panic as see says, "I can't do it, I can't do it!"
Both Alya and Piplup facepalm over Marinette's decision. Alya proceeds to encourage her friend by saying "Uh, no you don't, girl. You've been stalling all morning. Now's the time." Piplup agrees as she and Alya push Marinette over to Adrien.
Marinette stumbles out then she stops right in front of Adrien and Nino. "Um, he- Hey!" she says nervously as she holds the gift behind her back.
Confused, Adrien waves as he replies shyly, "Hey."
Chloé and Sabrina are with their Pokémon, Quaxly and Chespin (both female), at the entrance to the academy but near enough to see what's happening. As Chloé watches what's happening, she asks Sabrina with annoyance in her voice, "Wait! Am I seeing what I think I'm seeing? Don't tell me it's Adrien's birthday?!" Sabrina checks her tablet, gets surprised, and makes excusing noises while smiling sheepishly. Chloé facepalms as she angrily asks "Ugh, do I have to do everything myself? Seriously, what are you good for?" She then proceeds to walk towards Adrien. Quaxly also snaps at Chespin as the grass type cowers behind Sabrina's legs before she (Quaxly) follows Chloé.
"I, uh, I wanted to, umm, gift you a make-– I mean, gift you a give I made- I mean..." Marinette nervously tries to say before being interrupted by Chloé yawning and snapping her fingers. This commanded Quaxly to use Water Gun on Marinette which pushed her aside.
"Out of the way." she says before acting sweet to Adrien. "Happy birthday, Adrien!" She then throws herself onto him and gives him a kiss on the cheek, causing Sprigatito to jump out of his arm, which annoys the Pokémon. Chloé's Quaxly tries to give a kissy face to Sprigatito which confuses and annoys him even more.
"Yeah, thanks Chloé." A surprised Adrien replies as he nonchalantly tries to pull her off of him.
On the ground, a soaking wet Marinette calls herself "Dummy" as Alya facepalms again while Piplup goes over to help her trainer back up.
"Did you get the gift I sent you?" Chloé asks.
Confused, Adrien replies, "Uh, no."
"What? Oh, those delivery guys." Chloé said as she's pretending to be annoyed. Adrien listens to Chloé with a confused look on his face as she continues to say, "I bet it was too heavy so they had to go back and get another guy to help. Those slackers." She then wraps her arms around Adrien's shoulders again and says as she gives him another kiss on the cheek, "I'll make sure they get it to you by tonight." She proceeds to leaves, humming a happy tune to herself while Quaxly blows kisses to Sprigatito. After the two leave, Nino chuckles and playfully punches Adrien's arm.
The girls are still hidden as Alya says to Marinette, "Get back there! Don't be a pushover, literally!" But all Marinette could do was give a defeated moan. Leaving Alya looking frustrated.
As Chloé walks towards Sabrina and Chespin, she then asks her "What did you get him?"
With an angry tone in her voice, Chloé told her "I didn't, you and Chespin did." She points angrily at Sabrina as she continued to say, "And it better be amazing, and it better not be late!" Sabrina cowardly nods in agreement before Chloé walks away furiously. Following her trainer, Quaxly stops next to Chespin and obnoxiously flips her hair before walk away. Sabrina taps on her tablet quickly while looking scared as she and Chespin follow Chloé and Quaxly.
Back to girls, Alya does everything she can to try to give Marinette confidence. "C'mon, you can do it." Piplup walk over to her trainer, trying to help encourage her, seeing her Pokémon caused Marinette to gain the determination she needed. Before she could do anything, the Agreste limousine arrives in front of the school.
"Gotta go. Photoshoot." Adrien said to Nino as he and Sprigatito get into the limo and leave.
Disappointed in herself, Marinette asks aloud "Why can't I just mean what I say?"
Alya, still standing next to her, asked "Uh, say what you mean?"
"Exactly." Marinette replied.
Seeing his friend leave, Nino says to his Squirtle, "Looks like we've got some business to take care of with Adrien's old man."
Outside the Agreste Mansion, Marinette, Alya and their Pokémon are stand at the gate as Marinette tries to open the mailbox. "This mailbox won't budge!" Marinette said.
"Ring the doorbell." Alya replied as she points to the doorbell.
"Are you kidding? What if Adrien answers the—" But Alya rings the doorbell before Marinette could finish her excuse, causing her to panic and scream.
Suddenly a hidden compartment on the wall opens and a camera appears which freaks out both Piplup and Fennekin. Nathalie's voice can be heard through the camera as she says "Yes?"
Unnerved by the camera, Marinette stammers as she tries to say "Um, hi. I'm in Adrien's class and I, uh-" She tries to show the gift to the camera before she continued to stammer nervously. "Heh, did I already say that? Umm... Heh..." She then just smiles awkwardly at the camera lens.
"Put it in the box." Nathalie says as the mailbox automatically opens.
Marinette then carefully puts the gift in the mailbox before it closes. "Thank you!" She said before the camera retreats and wall compartment closes. With excitement in her voice, Marinette exclaims, "Oh! I hope he likes it!"
"You signed the note, right? Alya asks which causes Marinette to make a surprised face. "Ah, girl, girl, girl." Alya says Marinette groans upon the realization. Piplup then facepalms with her flipper as Fennekin shakes her head in disappointment.
Inside the Agreste Mansion, Nathalie enters her office with Marinette's gift in her hands and puts it on her desk while sitting down. "Who was that, Nathalie?" Gabriel asked through the intercom on her desk.
Nathalie pushed the button on the intercom to reply and said, "A friend of Adrien's. She was delivering a gift for his birthday."
"Did you remember to buy him a present from me?" Gabriel asked.
Surprised to hear this, Nathalie nervously replies, "Uh-uh, but you didn't ask me to."
"Of course I did!" Gabriel angrily retorted.
Nathalie nervously replied, "Yes, Mr. Agreste. I-I'll take care of it."
"Good." Gabriel said as he disconnects the call.
Nathalie covers her mouth in fear and she looks despaired, but then her face lights up as she takes Marinette's gift and sighs in relief. Then the doorbell rings and she composes herself as she answer, "Yes?"
"Uh, hi." Nino says from the camera outside.
Nino and Nathalie are standing inside the Agreste Mansion's foyer, waiting as Nathalie tells him, "He'll be here in a minute." Nino fidgets with his bubble wand as he is nervous to meet Adrien's father.
"Adrien's not home yet." Nino heard as Gabriel is seen entering from the top of the stairs.
Intimidated by Mr. Agreste, Nino says to him, "Uh, I was coming to see you, du-sir."
"Me?" Gabriel asked.
"Yeah, that's right." Nino said as he gets excited. "Look, I know you don't want Adrien to have a party, but it's his birthday, dude-I mean, sir. It's all he wants."
"No." Gabriel said with a stern voice as he raises his palm. "That's final."
"That's messed up." Nino said as he tries to plead his Mr. Agreste as Adrien and Sprigatito enter without anyone noticing. "He never screws up in class, he always does whatever you tell him: photoshoots, fencing, Chinese, piano—"
Suddenly Adrien grabs his shoulder and interrupts him as he says to him, "Nino? You're here."
Nino turns to his friend and said "Anything for my best bud." He turns back and continues to say to Mr. Agreste. "Show some awesomeness, du-I mean, sir, please." This speech did nothing but make Gabriel frustrated as he looks at him angrily.
Knowing his father won't change his mind, Adrien says to Nino, "Forget it, Nino. Really, it's fine."
With angry tone in his voice, Gabriel said to Nino, "Listen, young man. I decide what's best for my son. If you think you know better than me, then show me in a battle."
"What?!" Nino asks with surprise in his voice. But he then looks over to see his best friend and says to Mr. Agreste, "Alright dude-uh, sir. If that's what it takes, then bring it on!"
Gabriel turns to his assistant and says, "Hmm, Nathalie, prepare the battlefield."
"Yes, Mr. Agreste." Nathalie said as she bowed and escorted Nino to the yard.
Outside the Agreste Mansion, Nino and Gabriel are standing on opposite ends of the battlefield with Nathalie towards the center to act as referee. Adrien walks over to Nino's side and tries to talk him out of this battle. "Nino, I appreciate what you're trying to do, but my father never goes easy when it comes to a battle."
Nino responded by saying "This is for best bud, I have to."
"This will be a one-on-one battle between Gabriel Agreste and Nino Lahiffe," Nathalie said aloud for the others to hear. "Send out your Pokémon!"
Nino started by throwing out his Pokéball as he called out "Squirtle, I choose you!" In a flash of light, a small light-blue turtle with a brown shell with a pale yellow underbelly and a "squirrel-like" tail.
Unimpressed by Nino's choice, Gabriel pulls out a black Pokéball with a gold band around the center and two red rings on each half (a luxury ball) and called out his Pokémon. "Rise, Volcarona!" A flash of light appears and as the light dies down, it reveals Gabriel's partner, the Sun Pokémon Volcarona.
Seeing the powerful Pokémon Mr. Agreste was using worried Nino, but he knew he had to push forward for his friend.
With the two Pokémon out, Nathalie called out, "Let the battle, begin!"
Gabriel started off by commanding "Volcarona, use Quiver Dance." Volcarona's body begins to glow white. She then starts dancing around the opponent, leaving behind afterimages of her. This move increased Volcarona's special attack, special defense and speed.
Nino responded by calling out "Alright Squirtle dude, use Tackle!" Squirtle then lunges towards Volcarona impacting the fiery moth with his head. Seeing this, Nino says with excitement, "Sweet, a direct hit! Now, use Water Gun little dude!" Squirtle releases a stream of water from his mouth at the opponent, which as a fire type, caused Volcarona to finch a bit. "Now use Rapid Spin" Nino called out. Squirtle then pulls his head and limbs into his shell and spins around as he swings towards Volcarona. Though it appeared he was winning, Nino noticed Mr. Agreste wasn't deterred by what was happening.
With a surprisingly calm tone in his voice, Gabriel called out, "Use Morning Sun!" Volcarona's whole body starts to glow white, spreading yellow light around herself, restoring her lost health.
Astonished, Nino says to Squirtle, "What the heck? Squirtle, use Rapid Spin!" Squirtle once again pulls his head and limbs into his shell and spins towards Volcarona.
Before Squirtle can make physical contact, Gabriel tells Volcarona "Use Psychic!" Volcarona's eyes glow purple and Squirtle becomes surrounded by a purple aura, stooping midair which freaked out the turtle Pokémon. Seeing this shocked Nino, but before he could give a command, Gabriel called out, "Finish it with Fiery Dance!" Volcarona forms a ring of fireballs around her body; she then flaps her wings, launching the fireballs at Squirtle, engulfing him in flames.
As the flames dissipate, Squirtle is seen lying on the ground with swirls in his eye, indicating defeat. "Squirtle is unable to battle, Volcarona wins!" Nathalie announced. "Victory goes to Gabriel Agreste.
Nino walks over to his Pokémon and picks him as he says, "Are you okay little dude?" Squirtle opens his eyes and gives a thumbs-up as he smiles at his trainer. Nino smiled back as he says "You did your best, return." A red light glowed around Squirtle as he returned to his Pokéball.
Gabriel walks over towards Nino with Volcarona flying by his side and tells him in a stern voice, "Young man, you are rash, impulsive, and above all I've seen that you're a bad influence to my son. You're not welcome in my house ever again. Leave now!"
Adrien tried to plead with his father by saying, "Father, he was just trying to do something cool for me." But Mr. Agreste ignored him and walked away.
Nathalie steps in front of them and just says to Nino, "Goodbye."
Nino gets frustrated and starts to leave, but Adrien catches him just before the front gates. Adrien then says to his friend, "Nino, wait! I'm sorry. My father-he's pretty stubborn. It's just best to stay out of his way."
Hearing this only made Nino become more furious as he learns that Adrien's father is colder and says "It's not fair, Adrien. Harsh, uncool." Nino crosses his arms and leaves, leaving Adrien looking sad.
"Thanks anyway, Nino." Adrien said with his head tucked down in sadness.
After he leaves, Nino heads to the Central Plaza Pokémon center to heal up Squirtle sits down on a bench to wait, looking angry. He starts blowing bubbles with his bubble wand and notices a young boy and his father.
"But, Daddy, please!" the kid said as his father takes him by the hand.
"No, it's not playtime." The kid's father replied, "You've got your chores to do." Hearing this made the kid complain.
"Ugh. Adults ruin everything all the time." Nino angrily said to himself.
Out of the darkness, the window of Hawk Moth's lair slowly opens as Hawk Moth is heard saying aloud, "Desperate to help his friend, but feeling powerless. How frustrating! It won't be long before frustration turns to anger!" A butterfly flies into the palm of his hand as he begins to swirl his other hand around, which collects glowing purple dust and moves it over the butterfly. With his hands pressed together over the butterfly, the glowing dust infuses the butterfly as it turns into an akuma. "Fly away, my little akuma, and evilize him." The akuma then flies out the window and into the city.
In the Central Plaza, Nino is blowing bubbles when the akuma flies into his bubble wand and a light mask appears. Through the light mask, Hawk Moth says from his lair, "Hawk Moth is my name and Bubbler is now yours. I will help you with these horrid adults by granting you the powers of the Water Bubble Pokémon, Araquanid, and all you have to do in return is help me get something from Ladybug and Cat Noir."
"Yes, Hawk Moth." Nino said as a dark purplish cloud forms around him and it turns him into Bubbler.
This version of the Bubbler has mostly dark gray suit with some light brilliant arctic blue skin on his face. A giant water bubble surrounds his head which has dark amaranth eyes, and blue circles with a paler wavy line through the centers (Araquanid eyes) around his eyes, along with a light brown markings similar to eyebrows above his eyes. He has three pointed, blue bumps on top of its head and four fang-like projections around his mouth. While most his suit is dark gray, there are also accents of light brown stripes and a few light green stripes. Each shoulder has an opaque bubble and his arms are light green from the base of the shoulder bubbles to the elbows while his forearms are dark gray from his elbows to his hands. Like his arms, his legs are light green from his waist to his knees, which have opaque bubbles on his knees, and dark gray from his knees to his feet. Around his middle section, he has four spider-like legs coming from his back that wrap around to front with light green spinnerets on the end of each one. The bubble wand had a blue handle and a light green head with a long, oval hole. [Forgive me if I made a few mistakes in the description.]
Fully akumatized, Bubbler jumps onto a nearby rooftop and says aloud, "No more adults means total freedom! This is SOOO sweet! Off the hook!" He then takes out his bubble sword and flies over Mesagoza, leaving a trail of purple bubbles behind him. The bubbles start capturing adults with their Pokémon partners, then turning green and flying away while citizens are screaming and many children are left crying.
"Perfect." Hawk Moth said from his lair.
At the Dupain-Cheng House, Marinette and Piplup are eating lunch as she makes a heart out of her peas using her fork and says to herself "Adrien must have gotten his gift by now."
Her mom opens the window with Mienshao next to her as she asks her "What's that you said?"
Marinette got a surprised look as she turned around and said, "Um, I can't wait to get back to school this afternoon, hehe." Her mother, Mienshao and Piplup chuckle at her responds but then a purple bubble flies in through the window and captures Sabine and Mienshao. Marinette looks scared as her mom starts screaming and floats away.
"Mom! MOM!" Marinette screamed as she and Piplup ran to the window trying to grab her, but she and Mienshao floated away too far. Suddenly she sees her father and Dachsbun also floating away in other bubbles. "Dad? Dad!" Soon both her parents, and a lot of other adults with their Pokémon, are seen floating high into the sky.
Tikki flies up next to Marinette and says to her, "Your parents! Hawk Moth must've released another akuma."
"I've got to find his newest villain ASAP." Marinette replied before turning towards her Pokémon, "Piplup, stay here and watch the house." Piplup nodded in agreement as Marinette said "Tikki, spots on!" She looked unhappy as her transformation sequence began and Marinette transformed into Ladybug.
As the adults are floating above the city, the Bubbler is standing on a rooftop as he proclaims aloud, "And now, party time!" Kids are the streets crying for their missing parents as Ladybug runs out of the bakery and sees purple bubbles appear in the sky, broadcasting a message from the Bubbler. "Today is your lucky day, little dudes. The adults have taken the day off, so make the most of it. No chores, no homework, no more nagging, just fun, fun, fun, fun. This is The Bubbler's gift to you."
Ladybug knelt down to the kids and said in reassurance, "Don't worry, your parents will come back. I'll see to it." She then gets up and says to the teenager, "You take care of them in the meantime."
Both the kids and the teen cheer as she runs off and swings away, "Yay! Go, Ladybug!"
Inside the Agreste Mansion, Adrien and Sprigatito are eating lunch alone in the mansion's dining room and Adrien gets up as he finishes his meal. "Wow. That was a birthday lunch break to remember. Yay!" Adrien said sarcastically. He walks out of the dining room with his Grass Cat following him into the foyer and they stop in the middle of the room as he calls out, "Nathalie? Father?" Without any response, he just shrugs sadly as he and his Pokémon walk outside only to see a crowd of his classmates cheering.
"Yay! Woo! Happy birthday!" The crowd of teenagers called out, much to Adrien's surprise.
Suddenly Adrien looks up to see Bubbler standing on top of a bubble floating above the crowd and he said "Hey, hey, hey, birthday boy. Guess what? Daddy's gone. While the cat's away, the mice will play."
Sprigatito hisses at the villain while Adrien looks at the Bubbler with a strange expression until he realizes who he is and asked "Nino?!"
"The Bubbler's brought all yo homies together for one single-sole purpose, to ce-le-brate!" Bubbler said as he pumps his fist in the air.
"YEAH!" the crowd cheered.
The Bubbler jumps and front flips down from the bubble into a DJ booth and announces to the crowd, "Let's get this party started!" Everyone cheers as the Bubbler plays music ("Pokémon World"), and people start to dance. Adrien looks surprised as he picks up his Pokémon and runs back into his house. "Come on, everybody, I brought you here to party!" Bubbler called out only for the teens to be seen dancing, but looking sad. "So dance or else you'll join the adults up in the sky! Hahahahahahahaha!" He then points the extra spider legs towards the sky and shoots a stream of blue bubbles out of each stinger [Bubblebeam], the bubbles explode in the air creating a fireworks-like effect.
From his lair, Hawk Moth monologues aloud, "It won't be long before Ladybug and Cat Noir show up to meet their doom! Mwahahahahahahaha!"
Adrien enters his room and puts down Sprigatito as he closes the door behind him. He looks at his ring as his kwami, Plagg, climbs up to his shoulder and says to him, "What's your problem? Relax! You're getting the party you've always wanted."
"But Nino's been akumatized! I've gotta help him!" Adrien replies.
"You may never get this chance again!" Plagg said trying to convince him. "C'mon, let's have a little fun while your father's away! Then we'll save Nino, trap his akuma, and all will be good."
Adrien turns and looks sad until he eventually agrees with his kwami. "Okay, you're right. This might be the first day in my life that I actually get to do what I want for once." Sprigatito tries pawing at his trainer's leg to convince him to reconsider, but Adrien kneels down and tells him, "Don't worry Sprigatito, everything will be alright." He pet his Pokémon on his head and left the room, although the grass cat was still worried.
Ladybug is running across rooftops when she suddenly sees the bubble fireworks in the distance. "It's you and me, Bubbler." Ladybug said to herself in a determined voice before leaping into action.
Meanwhile at the Agreste Mansion, everyone is dancing and Adrien is enjoying himself. Adrien then walks over to a sad-looking Rose and says to her, "Hey, nice party, I guess, since it's my first one." Rose smiles and gives him two thumbs up, then keeps dancing and looking sad. Adrien turns around and sees everyone dancing but with a grim expression.
Nearby, Chloé is motioning Sabrina to do something near the DJ booth and a frightened Sabrina says to The Bubbler "I'm requesting a slow dance."
"It's a bit early for that, isn't it?" Bubbler asked.
Agitated, Chloé shoves Sabrina down and puts on an innocent face as she says to the villain, "It's for Adrien. His first slow dance. Mm?" She then makes a sweet face to try to be convincing.
"OH! You know it, girl." Bubbler said before he changes the music to a slow dance. People gradually pair up to slow dance but they're still looking sad.
As Chloé walked up to him, Adrien asked, "Is it me, or does everyone seem a bit weird?"
"Forget about them, let's go dance! C'mon!" Chloé said ignoring him as she dragged him onto the dance floor.
Ladybug jumps onto a nearby balcony and watches as the Bubbler is going to change a record and notices Chloé and Adrien dancing. Chloé tries to kiss him, but Adrien looks uncomfortable, leaving Ladybug looking aghast. "There is no way this is happening." Ladybug said with annoyance as she summoned her "Lucky Charm!" The Lucky Charm superpower gives her "A record?" Ladybug uses her Lucky Vision as it shows her the empty record spot in the DJ mixer, the volume modifier and a ledge on the Agreste Mansion building. Ladybug chuckles, then throws the record. It hits the ledge, bounces over to the DJ booth, hits the volume all the way up, lands on the empty spot and begins to play dance music again. Everyone breaks off from their pairs and go back to dancing in an upbeat manner. Chloé gets confused by the music change and Adrien uses this as an opportunity to move away from Chloé.
The Bubbler realizes that the music changed and angrily asks "Dude! Who just hijacked my mix?"
"Yours truly." Ladybug says to herself in confidence before hearing her earrings beep. "Better bug out quick before my health gets too low." She then proceeds to jump off of the balcony and land just outside of the Agreste Mansion. "Spots off." She calls out, causing her to de-transform back to normal.
Tikki comes out of the earrings and lands on her hands. "Marinette!" she said feeling drained.
Marinette tried to say to her kwami, "It was an emergency."
Tikki responded with annoyance in her voice, "Yeah, if by emergency, you mean jealousy. You know what happens once you use your Lucky Charm. Your health gets so low that—"
Marinette interrupted, knowing what Tikki was going to say, "I won't have the strength to fight villains or maintain my transformation, I know. But I figured, The Bubbler, he's not going anywhere, we have time to get you some food to get your energy back up. Then, we'll get right back out there, I promise." She puts Tikki in her purse, as she enters the party she starts looking around and notices the food table. She head over there, grabs some cookies, and puts them in her purse for Tikki. "I've got to find a place where I can transform, fast." Marinette quietly says to herself as she looks around.
Suddenly Marinette hears Alya's voice as she says "Where have you been, girl? I was so scared something had happened to you."
"Me too!" Marinette replied as they hug. She looks around but doesn't see Alya's Pokémon with her and asks "Wait, where's Fennekin?"
Alya said to her "Bubbler took all of us from our homes but not before using Sticky Web to restrain our Pokémon so we don't resist. But don't worry, I'm sure Ladybug and Cat Noir will show up in a minute to save us all. They never failed us. Meanwhile, come with me, I've got something for you."
Alya tries to lead Marinette, but instead she says "Uh, there's something I've got to do first."
"It's about Adrien." Alya said.
Hearing those words, Marinette couldn't resist as she told her friend, "Okay."
In her purse, Tikki said with urgency in her voice, "Marinette, The Bubbler."
"Okay, okay, in a sec." Marinette whispered to her kwami before she runs after Alya.
Alya and Marinette then sneak into Nathalie Sancoeur's office and see Marinette's gift on Nathalie's desk. Alya said to her, "Look! Now you can sign your gift."
Marinette gasps at the realization and says, "Ah, yes!"
Back outside, the Bubbler sees that Ivan is not dancing and confronts him by saying, "Hey, you. Why aren't you having fun?"
"None of your business." Ivan angrily retorted.
"Then I'm going to make it my business." Bubbler said as he takes out his bubble sword and chuckles.
Back in Nathalie's office, Marinette is signing a post-it as says aloud as she writes, "'Love, Marinette'. There." She sticks it to the present and gives the present a kiss.
Tikki pops out of Marinette's purse and eagerly says to her, "Right, we're good. Spots on, Marinette."
Marinette quietly whispers back, "I can't do it now, Alya's here."
"What'd you say?" Alya asked as she peaked through the door.
Marinette nervously replies to her, "Go ahead! I'll meet you in the yard." Alya leaves and Marinette lets out a sigh of relief, but she soon sees Ivan floating away in a green bubble through the window. "No! You were right, Tikki, I never should've waited this long." Marinette said with fear in her voice.
Outside at the party, Adrien is on top of the DJ booth with a mike and says to the crowd, "Hey, Mesagoza, how you doing?" He raises the mike in excitement, but the people don't respond. The Bubbler, behind Adrien, threatens everyone with his bubble sword, and they cheer. Adrien jumps off the stage, and then he and the rest of the crowd see Ladybug on the roof. "Ladybug?" Adrien asked.
Ladybug throws her yo-yo and hits the power strip which unplugs everything and causes the music to stop. Ladybug retracts her yo-yo back as she says to the villain, "Sorry, Bubbler, but the party is over."
"Why you gotta be like that?" Bubbler asks angrily.
"You made all the adults disappear and trapped the guests' Pokémon, that's why!" Ladybug replies. "And now you're imprisoning anyone who isn't having fun." Chloé is holding onto Adrien's shoulder, but hearing what Ladybug said Bubbler did made him push her off as ran into his house.
"You will not bust up my party!" Bubbler said with anger as he takes out his bubble sword, "Bubblebeam!" he exclaimed as he shot a stream of blue bubbles out of sword. Ladybug uses her yo-yo to deflect the bubbles which causes the crowd to scatter. Bubbler's sword then becomes surrounded by a powerful stream of water as he calls out "Liquidation!" and lunges towards Ladybug.
Ladybug responds by swinging her yo-yo in circles and calls out "Bug Buzz!" Soon her whole body became surrounded by red soundwaves and she lunged towards Bubbler. The two attacks collide, creating a shockwave that sends both of them flying as they land on their feet and slide back.
Soon Adrien gets back to his room with Plagg fly out of his shirt dancing and says to him and Sprigatito, "I think I've been a complete idiot. You were right Sprigatito." Adrien then rubs his Pokémon on his cheek as he starts his transformation sequence, "Plagg, claws out!" Adrien then transforms into Cat Noir.
Outside, Ladybug and The Bubbler are still fighting as Ladybug spins her yo-yo creating a barrage of Air Slashes, but Bubbler knows how to counter it as he calls out "Mirror Coat!" Soon, he expands the bubble covering his head and a multicolored aura shines across it, before turning shimmering red which causes the Air Slashes to bounce right off and fly back at Ladybug.
Ladybug gets worried as the attack is sent back, but luckily Cat Noir enters and knock the Air Slashes back with his staff causing the attack to dissipate. "Looks like I made it just in time." Cat Noir said as he takes a fighting pose.
"I had it under control," Ladybug said as her yo-yo slows down and slightly hits Cat Noir on the head, "but thanks."
A light mask appears on The Bubbler's face as he can hear Hawk Moth say from his lair, "Get their Miraculouses. I want those powers, NOW!"
The Bubbler fires another "Bubblebeam!" at Ladybug and Cat Noir (this one has far more bubbles) and they gradually fight them, Cat Noir spins his staff and Ladybug spins her yo-yo. Suddenly, The Bubbler snaps his fingers and all of the bubbles turn green, causing them to start circling around the heroes. Some of the bubbles began sticking to them until they are both captured in one big bubble. Ladybug and Cat Noir struggle against the bubbles as the Bubbler laughs. Once they are fully trapped in the bubble, Bubbler says to the two, "Give me your Miraculouses before you run out of air."
"Dream on, Bubbler." Ladybug replied.
Annoyed, Bubbler says to them, "Total party poopers, just like adults."
Ladybug angrily says to him, "Kids need adults!"
"False!" Bubbler responded loud enough for the crowd of teens to hear. "Kids need freedom, fun, let loose and live it up. Adults are controlling and bossy."
Ladybug said back to him, "But adults keep children safe and protected. They care for their kids, they love them!"
"Most adults do anyhow." Cat Noir says to himself thinking about his civilian self's father, Gabriel. He then says to The Bubbler, "You must bring the adults back!"
"Nope, never." Bubbler said to the heroes. "Know what, since you care about these adults so much, why don't you go float with them for a while?" He runs at them and kicks the bubble high up into the sky causing Ladybug and Cat Noir to scream and the teenagers gasp.
"What do you think you're doing Bubbler?!" Hawk Moth said angrily from his lair, "You're supposed to seize their Miraculouses!"
Ladybug and Cat Noir are trying to burst the green bubble as it floats higher into the sky when Ladybug says to Cat Noir, "Use your Cataclysm!"
"Couldn't you have said that five hundred feet ago?" Cat Noir replied with a smart aleck tone.
"We can't stay stuck in this bubble together forever." Ladybug said as Cat Noir smirks, but that only makes Ladybug facepalm.
"Cataclysm!" Cat Noir called out before he touches the bubble and it bursts.
They start falling, while falling Ladybug sarcastically asks "Should we see if you land on your feet this time?"
Cat Noir responded, "No, thanks!"
Ladybug notices and points to the Great Crater as she says "Your stick, there!"
"Got it!" Cat Noir said as he throws his staff so hard it gets stuck in the Great Crater.
Ladybug takes his hand and says "Hang on!" as she throws her yo-yo. It catches around the Cat Noir's staff, and they swing and land safely.
"Good thing cats aren't afraid of heights." Cat Noir joked as they stand back up.
"We've got to get to his bubble sword, that's got to be where the akuma is." Ladybug said.
Cat Noir's ring begins beep, indicating low health, and says to his partner, "We better hurry before my health gets too low." The two then run off back to the villain.
In front of the Agreste Mansion, The Bubbler tries to get the party going again but everyone is cowering in fear. "Where is everybody? Get out here and party!"
But Bubbler gets interrupted by Ladybug as she and Cat Noir are on top of the mansion's outer wall and she says, "Sorry to burst your bubble."
"Ladybug!" Alya exclaims from the crowd. Soon all the teens start to cheer her on. "Ladybug! Ladybug!" This cheering only makes Bubbler angrier.
Ladybug says to the villain, "No one wants to party with you anymore, Bubbler."
"What's wrong with all you guys!? Why you gotta be such haters!?" Bubbler says to the crowd before he grunts loudly and takes out his bubble sword, capturing all the teens in bubbles.
"NOOO!" Ladybug and Cat Noir screamed as they see all of the teens floating away in bubbles.
"Outer space is the next stop for your precious peeps, and they're never coming back!" The Bubbler said with anger as he leaves by jumping from roof to roof with Ladybug and Cat Noir pursuing him. The Bubbler eventually makes his way to the Eateries at the Eastern Plaza and lands on the roof of one of the sandwich shops and fires more Bubblebeams at Ladybug and Cat Noir. Cat Noir's ring beeps again and his icon shows that he is very close to losing all of his health.
Cat Noir panics as he says to Ladybug, "My health's getting lower by the second, hurry."
"Lucky Charm!" Ladybug called out as The Lucky Charm superpower gives her a big wrench.
Cat Noir saw this and sarcastically asked, "Your... plumbing skill is gonna help us out?" Ladybug shrugs as The Bubbler throws more explosive bubbles at Cat Noir. He dodges them, ending up atop an adjacent building and taunts the Bubbler by saying "Could use a little work! Is that all you got?"
Ladybug's Lucky Vision shows her the fountain, the water pipes connecting the fountain, the screw connecting them, and the wrench. "Got it!" she says as she runs towards the pipe while Cat Noir is still dodging bubbles. She loosens the screw and the pipe comes off, the water pressure causes the flexible pipe to go up into the air where Cat Noir is standing. "Cat Noir, cover me!" she called out as Cat Noir leaps and grabs hold of the pipe.
As Cat Noir hold the spewing water pipe in place he says to Ladybug, "Go on!" The Bubbler fires more bubbles at him, but the water flowing from the pipe deflects them. The Bubbler raises his bubble sword once again, but Ladybug throws her yo-yo and snatches the sword, bringing it to her.
She breaks the sword in half with her knees and the akuma flies out of the sword as she says, "Get out of there, you nasty bug." She then opens her yo-yo and says "No more evil doing for you, little akuma. Time to de-evilize!" The akuma gets captured as her yo-yo closes, "Gotcha!" She opens up the yo-yo again and releases purified butterfly into the sky. "Bye-bye, little butterfly. Miraculous Ladybug!" She throws the wrench up in the sky, and the magical ladybugs' cleansing light returns every adult to safety. The Bubbler moans in defeat as the dark purple clouds revert him back to Nino.
"Who? Dude." Nino says all confused.
With their victory, Ladybug and Cat Noir fist bump as they say together, "Pound it!"
In Hawk Moth's lair, Hawk Moth monologues to himself, "You can't run forever Ladybug and when I catch you, I will crush you! I will DESTROY YOU BOTH!" The lair's window slowly closes.
In Nathalie Sancoeur's Office, she is typing on her computer when she suddenly hears Gabriel's on the intercom, "Nathalie? Did my son like his gift?"
Nathalie became nervous as she told her boss, "Actually, I was going to check right away sir."
"Good." Gabriel said before disconnecting.
Nathalie despairs and looks around in a panic before she sees and takes Marinette's gift. She sighs in relief but notices a post-it note, she crumples Marinette's note and throws it in the garbage. She rushes to the dining room where Adrien is eating and hands him the gift as she says, "A birthday present, from your father."
"Thank you." Adrien said, but he corrects himself as Nathalie walks off, "I mean, please say thank you to my father for me." Nathalie nods as she leaves the room and Adrien looks happily at the gift.
Outside academy, Marinette and Alya (both holding their Pokémon) notice Chloé is screaming at Sabrina, "What do you mean not for a week?!"
A scared Sabrina tried to explain to her, "There were no adults yesterday to deliver it."
"So what? Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous!" Chloé said as she storms inside, followed by Sabrina.
Alya laughs as she says to Marinette "Ha ha! Serves Chloé right."
"Hey girls!" Adrien called out as he and Sprigatito get out of the limousine, wearing matching scarves.
With excitement, Marinette says to Alya, "Hey, that's my scarves! They're wearing my scarves."
"Hey, dude." Adrien said to Nino.
Alya called out to Adrien and says, "Yo, nice scarves, Adrien. Off the chain."
"Yeah, can you believe my dad got this for me?" Adrien said which made Marinette look surprised. "It's so awesome. He's been giving me the same lame pen for three years in a row."
Hearing this, Nino says to Adrien, "Wow, I guess anyone can change. Adults can be cool when you least expect it."
Adrien then tries to apologize to Nino by saying, "Speaking of adults, I know my father said you were a bad influence, but—"
Before his friend could finish, Nino grabs onto his shoulder and says to him, "We're good, Adrien, don't sweat it. We're buds. Always and forever." The two and their Pokémon then start walking into the school, ready for class.
Alya whispers to Marinette, "You gotta tell him you were the one who knitted the scarves."
"But he seems so happy about his dad. I don't want to spoil it for him." Marinette replies with a smile on her face.
"Aw, Marinette." Alya said as she hugs her best friend, "You're amazing, girl. You know that, right? And someday Adrien will figure it out too. Promise." The bell rings and everyone walks in as the view zooms on to show a lovely view of the academy and the city.
