As if the merging of zombie hordes from Dawn of the Dead, Dead Rising, 28 Days Later, The Walking Dead, Night of the Living Dead, and World War Z hadn't already transformed the Dark Nation into a realm of unrelenting terror, a new and even more dangerous infection made its way into the growing nightmare—the Cordyceps infection from The Last of Us universe. The fungal plague that had devastated the world in its own universe brought with it a new level of horror, adding a biological element that transformed humans into terrifying, monstrous beings.
The infected from The Last of Us were unlike any other. The Runners, fast and aggressive, spread chaos through the already decaying world. The Clickers, with their eerie, bone-chilling clicking sounds and blind yet deadly precision, hunted anything that moved with brutal efficiency. The Stalkers crept through the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The massive, lumbering Bloaters, heavily armored by fungal growths, tore through obstacles with terrifying strength. And the more recently discovered Shamblers, grotesque mutations, spread noxious spores that poisoned and dissolved anything nearby. But the most terrifying of them all was the Rat King, a horrific mass of fused infected, moving as one monstrous entity, its strength and lethality unmatched.
With the arrival of the Cordyceps infection, the Dark Nation became even more unpredictable and dangerous. The foggy streets of Silent Hill, the decaying towns of Dawn of the Dead and Dead Rising, the apocalyptic ruins of 28 Days Later, the graveyards of Night of the Living Dead, the falling cities of World War Z, and the eerie wilderness of Crystal Lake now shared their spaces with the overgrown, fungal-infected environments of The Last of Us universe. Fungal growths spread rapidly across the landscape, consuming buildings and transforming the very air into a toxic, spore-filled nightmare.
The infected from The Last of Us were relentless, adding a new layer of horror to the Dark Nation. Their sheer brutality, combined with the advanced nature of their fungal mutation, made them a terrifying addition to the already overwhelming forces of the undead. Even the monsters of the Dark Nation—Jason Voorhees, Pyramid Head, the Creepypasta entities, and the creatures of Silent Hill—could sense the growing instability of the world as the infected roamed alongside the countless zombies.
But while the Dark Nation descended further into chaos, the survivors of The Last of Us universe were spared. The One Above All, in His boundless mercy, transported the surviving, heroic humans from this apocalyptic world to the safety of the Light Nation, where they could finally escape the horrors they had endured for so long.
Among those transported were Joel Miller, the hardened survivor who had fought for years to protect his loved ones, and Ellie Williams, the young girl immune to the Cordyceps infection who had become like a daughter to him. Tommy Miller, Joel's younger brother, and Marlene, the leader of the Fireflies, were also spared from the Dark Nation. Along with them came Tess, Joel's trusted partner in the early days of the outbreak; Bill, the eccentric but resourceful survivor who had built a fortress to protect himself; and Henry and his younger brother Sam, who had struggled to survive against the infected.
They were joined by Sarah Miller, Joel's daughter, who had been tragically lost in the early days of the infection, but was now given a second chance in the Light Nation. Other survivors, like Maria, Tommy's wife and leader of the Jackson community; Jesse, Ellie's close friend; Dina, Ellie's love interest; Abby Anderson, a Firefly soldier with a complicated history; and Owen Moore, Mel, Yara, and Lev, all found refuge in the Light Nation.
However, not everyone from the Last of Us universe was spared. The villains—those who had embraced cruelty and violence—were left behind in the Dark Nation, where they would face the horrors of their own making. David, the sadistic leader of a group of cannibals, remained in the Dark Nation, where his dark and twisted nature thrived among the infected. Nora Harris, who had tortured Ellie, along with Manny Alvarez, were also left behind, condemned to the darkness they had once embraced.
Isaac Dixon, the brutal leader of the WLF (Washington Liberation Front), stayed in the Dark Nation, as did others who had chosen violence and corruption over redemption. Jordan, Emily, and other members of the WLF who had caused pain and suffering were also condemned to live among the horrors of the Dark Nation.
In the Light Nation, the surviving heroes were greeted by the growing community of humans from Silent Hill, Dead Rising, Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days/Weeks/Years Later, The Walking Dead, Night of the Living Dead, and World War Z. Together, they shared their stories, their losses, and their hope for a brighter future. Under the protection of The One Above All, they could finally begin to rebuild their lives free from the horror of the infected and the violence of their former world.
But despite the peace they found in the Light Nation, the darkness of the Dark Nation continued to grow. The infected from The Last of Us, combined with the endless hordes of zombies and the creatures of Silent Hill, Creepypasta, and other worlds, made the Dark Nation an even more dangerous and terrifying place. The line between life and death had become a blur, and even the most powerful beings within the Dark Nation could feel the weight of the chaos spreading through their world.
