Ch. 6

~ Louria capital ~

With the majority of Louria's forces occupied by the tanks outside, it effectively cut down their numbers as there were hardly any knights or patrol men in the area.

Not that it would have really mattered.

If the idea was to terminate people of interest, it could have been all handled in a single night whether they choose to do it quietly or loudly. Whether it would be a ghost agent slitting their throats or a missile strike leveling the area to the ground.

But since the start of this mission, although it was to neutralize the threat Louria posed, all these theatrics were to drive the point home to deter any further aggression. Hence why the general staff and strategic department were bothering to go through all these extra steps.

Sent on this extraction mission was Jin's team as he hand picked them.

Ava with her psi ability and incredible hearing made her one of their best scouts.

Rhea was their close quarters specialist. Though certified to use and maintain every weapon the Dominion has ever created and utilized, she would generally be armed with a kanabo as her primary with a side arm on her hip as her secondary.

Takashi as their medic. Though Jin didn't expect anyone to get hurt. But for the male oni, he was still a trained soldier and talented psi user.

Fumi who was their combat engineer. Though they wouldn't be depending on heavy machinery, she was a soldier as tough as her brother. Probably an even better marksmen.

Lastly was Ash their sniper. Ever since introduced to rifles, elves seem to have a natural affinity to ranged weapons. Combined with her psi ability and connected to computational sensory data, missing a target was very rare.

Their cloaked ship quietly flown in as it engaged hover mode as the hanger door opened. Jin's team started their infiltration as Ash stayed in the ship. Hooking a line to her suit as she was at the edge of the door, the silver haired elf got into her shooting stance as she followed her team through her scope while tracing their movements through their psi connection.

Moving in, Ava took point as her ears twitched as she was gathering real time information on everyone in the area. A good chunk of the people around were workers or servants who maintained the castle ground. They had no reason to take them out. Thus their suits were equipped with cloaks as it was easy enough to bypass them.

But prior to their mission, an advance team had already mapped out the area as they proceeded to their predetermined route.

No matter the situation, the castle would always have it's own contingent of royal knights on stand by in protection of the king. They would live, train, and be on guard around the clock. For Jin's infiltration team, they were going to go right through them. However it wasn't arrogance that he was only using a six person team against this small army. They had already gathered intel on their enemy's strength, skills, and equipment as well as keeping in mind their surroundings. Hence their actions was simply efficiency as they came armed with the weapons and tools they would need.

Quietly sneaking through, they arrived at the home stretch. It was time for things to get loud. Setting charges to the door, that's when the timer would start as they would fight their way to the king.

But there was one more reason why Jin hand picked this team which was specifically for their psi connection. It was similar to how Protoss zealots fought but different at the same time. Terran scientists weren't going to pretend they understood how it worked or quantify it based on how the advanced psionic race explained it. However the Dominion military did see value in creating specialized teams that could act and coordinate with near perfect precision using telepathy while in tense situations.

But the key to making it work is that all members of the connection needed to be balanced against each other while also retaining their sense of self. Previous attempts have shown that if the connection wasn't balanced, individuals would end up confused and stalled trying to make sense of what was happening.

Yet after many trials and errors, only a handful of teams were able to pull it off.

Upon detonation with the doors blown away, the surrounding guards were alerted.

Meanwhile on the ship once the charges went off, Ash was thinning the herd as her rifle was connected to an auto-feeder so her only limitation was aiming and shooting. Adjutant's filtered and fed data to Ash's H.U.D. with every sensor trained on the area. Combining sonar and infrared along with her psi connection to her team, she knew where everyone was.

Based on who she targeted, adjutants with it's high processing power would adjust the firing output making sure each bullet would only kill the target it was meant for. But it also allowed manual control to allow the user to optimize based on their instinct.

"Move the ship. Outer diameter by thirty-seven degrees clockwise to center axis. Ascend by fifteen meters. Set firing output to forty percent" as Ash's shooting position changed as she continued to fire. Spotting rows of soldiers running through several halls to intercept her team and predicting their movements and instinctual behavior, whether it was showing off or being very efficient, she wiped out three squads of knights on three different floors with only a few bullets. Her best shot thus far was hitting nine soldiers with a single round resulting in death, lethal injury, or seriously wounded.

Meanwhile, Jin's team continued to race down the halls. Running through maintaining a tight formation, the team shot at anyone who peaked out to confront them. Passing by rooms or hallways as the royal knights were converging on them, whoever was closest would toss a grenade in before moving on as it would explode behind them.

If an enemy got too close to them or someone was in the middle of reloading, Rhea would shift positions as one swing from her kanabo easily sent a grown man in armor flying across a room right into a wall.

Though close quarter weapons were still used in the Dominion, a lot of different weapons used by Falmartian natives would be considered 'primitive' by their standards. However it was still part of their culture. Especially for those who grew up on Falmart. So to increase their effectiveness on the field, a lot of them were updated with Terran technology.

Based on tastes and preferences, every race on Falmart had redesigned a lot of their equipment.

Hence Rhea's kanabo was packed with tech that with a good enough swing could dent tank armor. Thus for the Lourian royal knights that were hit by it, their internal organs was completely pulverized as they were dead before they hit the ground.

Rand was the commander of the royal guards as he had been wracking his brain trying to think of a way to turn the situation around.

All their strategists were gathered trying to brainstorm any conceivable plan. However it was all for naught as the enemy's magic weapons had them completely pinned. Reinforcements was unlikely as that damnable Dominion had struck all their major bases. The other feudal lords could not be depended on to come to their aid. Parpaldia had already turned their back on them.

Almost out of options, so long as he can secure the king's escape then Louria would somehow survive. But by the time night had rolled around that's when the enemy made their next move as the castle was invaded.

"How did they get in unnoticed?!" as the enemy was already deep within the castle grounds. "Ugh! Nevermind! Rally the royal guard! Stop the intruders! Protect the king!" Needing to stop their advance, all royal knights were mobilized.

From the reports, there were only five intruders. Regardless of how great their magic was, just sending five against the army that protected the castle was the pinnacle of arrogant as they would be overwhelmed within moments. Yet to contrast common sense, the invaders continued to push forward not even being slowed down.

"What's attacking us?!"

"They're too strong!"

"We need reinforcements now! The area has been breached!"

There was too much non-nonsensical information pouring in. The enemy was using magic they've never seen before along with weapons that went through their armors and shields as if they weren't there.

At the rate they were going, they would reach the king soon. "Curse you Dominion" as Rand clicked his tongue. With the current situation it was not possible to evacuate the king. But at the very least he could protect him. Based on what he could understand, the enemy had sent their most elite magi-soldiers to assassinate the king.

With only one path that would lead to him, he coordinated with whatever royal knights were still available to ambush the invaders. As much as he would like to pull back some of their forces for defense they were needed in the front to keep the enemy at bay.

With the enemy's attempt on their king, such a case had been anticipated as a room was prepared for just an occasion. The walls had hidden passages to allow soldiers to charge in at a moments notice blind siding the invaders from multiple directions. Planning accordingly, Rand waited for the intruders as the royal guards were waiting for the signal to attack.

Upon arrival, Rand raised his arms as a gesture of surrender to get them to lower their guard. "I have no idea who the Dominion is or why you bothered to involve yourselves in this conflict" as he talked trying to buy more time for his forces to get into position. "Just who are you really? How were you able to attack every one of our military and industrial bases in a single day? Seeing that you are demi-humans, are you some secret that Qua-Toyne hid? It's rather inconceivable no matter how much I think about it. But regardless of your formidable power from the reports I heard, you purposely avoided attacking civilian areas and just moved on rather then claim the spoils of war. Thus I can make a conjecture that you follow a strict code of chivalry" as the royal guard captain fell to his knees. "So you won't claim the life of soldiers who surrender to you".

Rand then gestured to the rest of his knights in the room to follow his lead as they fell to one knee in a ploy ready to act once the signal was set.

Yet contrary to their performance, the enemy did not look deterred.

"The king is right behind those doors" said Jin as he did a quick read of everything around him. "Strategic department wants to at least leave a few of them alive so that there will be some eye witnesses".

"If they don't make the first move then I'm going to feel a little bad about this" as Ava rubbed the back of her head.

"You do realize this is an ambush right?" asked Takeshi. "They're just waiting to attack us".

"Let's smoke them out then" as Ash sniped a couple of knights causing them to panic as they revealed themselves from their hiding spots. "Try not to get too carried away in there".

With the Lourian reinforcements appearance it caused everyone else to react since their hand was revealed.

Holstering their firearms, Jin's team would be finishing this fight up close and personal. Each member had their own style as they split off to deal with their own group.

Jin unsheathed his katana as he encountered a line of five knights running towards him screaming in war cry with their swords in hand. But against the usual opponents he trains with, they might as well have been standing still with how slow they were. More so with how much of an open book they were as their minds were easy to read. One swing was enough as his sword was a monomolecular blade energized through his psionic power making it capable of slicing through thick armor and energy shields. Similar to how the Nerazim fight, he used their technique of shadow fury with rapid teleportation as to the visible eye it looked like he disappeared into shadowy mist. Appearing in their blind spots, he only needed less then a second and one stab or slash to finish his opponent with a lethal blow as he coordinated his movements with the momentum of his swing.

The first knight was disemboweled being slashed across the chest.

The second knight's head went flying as Jin teleported in mid-air to his side completing the cut.

Teleporting again, he landed on the third knight's shoulder stabbing his sword straight down through his head.

Catching the fourth knight by surprise, Jin appeared in front of him full stepping in as his blade went through his heart.

Appearing behind the fifth knight, the dark elf stabbed backwards ending him as he moved on to his next opponents.

Ava slit the throat of a knight. With his blood pooling on the ground, the warrior bunny dipped her thumbs as she then painted her cheeks while flashing an animalistic grin. Their fighting style hadn't changed much in the last four decades as it focused on fast vicious strikes. With skin suits and for those who had psi ability, it only made them faster and stronger.

Taking out her two kukri knives, she lowered her center of gravity and blitzed in. Every swing of her blade was the definition of cruelty as was the nature of her race when it came to fighting.

Limbs went flying in the air.

Blood and guts were spilled all over the floor.

Momentary screams of terror were made before they were silenced forever.

Rhea who was born as an amazonian took more after her father who was an ogre. Though she may have been a close combat specialist, she preferred the most simple approach as she stood her ground and waited for the enemy to come at her. The kanabo she wielded was essentially a gravity generator allowing it to strike with incredible kinetic force as the handle was equipped with inertia dampeners to reduce kick back on its user.

For every swing of her hammer like club resulted in a Lourian knight getting rag dolled leaving bloody smears of them all over the place. A very expected result against a feeble organic body.

As for Fumi and Takeshi, their hands were enough. Boosted by their own psionic powers and equipped with skin suits, there was nothing their opponents could do that could stop them.

With the primitive alloy their swords, shields, and armor was composed of, it wasn't hard for either of the siblings to punch or kick right through them. Each hit broke bones, ruptured internal organs, or depending on where they hit caused internal decapitation

Though the team fought independently, they still shared their psi connection functioning as a unit covering their blind spots. They would also play off each others moves not wasting a single moment.

Meanwhile Ash was watching outside as the team was about finished. Setting aside her rifle, she jumped into the pilot seat as she moved the ship into position for the closing act.

As the room was filled with corpses, there were only a few survivors as painful moans and the sound of scrapping metal could be heard with crippled royal knights trying to crawl away.

Seeing the results of this ambush, Rand was lying on the ground as his chest was crushed. He was barely breathing now as slowly his life was drifting away. Being one of the first to fall in this battle, all he could do was watch this unfold. What the hell were they? He had never seen anything like it as they were monstrously strong. It wasn't just their magic and weapons. Each of them fought like seasoned warriors that had been through hell and back as there was not a moment of hesitation as they went through his men.

Was this Dominion truly the legendary Ravernal empire they've heard stories about?

With his mind racing as his life flashed before him, the light soon disappeared from his eyes.

~ Louria capital (castle) ~

Within the throne room stood king Hark Louria the XXXIV.

Since the invasion of Qua-Toyne, he had been certain of his infallibility. Everything was perfect as soon the rest of the land would belong to him.

However their fate soon took a dark turn.

A new nation had recently appeared near the continent as they called themselves the Dominion. It was a strange phenomenon in which foreign civilizations would suddenly appear in this world. They didn't know much about them. Their first encounter showed they had some powerful mages and magical weapons. But being brought to the negotiating table and seeing them up close, he was assured that they were no threat to their plans as it was safe to proceed.

But that's when everything came tumbling down and in only a single day as the reports claimed iron dragons and flying fortresses were appearing all over his kingdom decimating his forces.

Now the Dominion was at their doorstep as it was only a matter of time for the capital to fall. Once night had set, they sent their assassins. Yet they weren't the typical assassins as they charged in here taking out his royal guards along the way. Right now they were outside his door as they were the only line of defense between him and them.

"How could this have happened?! I am Hark Louria the XXXIV! The king among kings!" as he couldn't stop his body from shaking in fear as he sweated profusely. Just right outside, the intense fighting had all his senses trained on what was going on. By the sounds of it, his royal guards had lost. "I am the man who brought down every rivaling country to it's knees and became a great king! The one who aspired to annex Qua-Toyne! The man who will rule the continent of Rodenius!"

Soon the enemy broke down the door as Hark looked completely defeated as he fell to his knees.

"This is what should have happened . . . ." as he thought to himself. "I enacted the demi-human extermination policy to unite the country. I gathered massive wealth and great army's . . . . Everything was going so well . . . . Until the Dominion appeared . . . . The Dominion . . . . Where did it go wrong . . . ."

Though he was thinking this to himself, Jin's team heard it all through telepathy as some of them couldn't help but roll their eyes. "Hark Louria the XXXIV" as Jin started his decree. "In representation of the Dominion on behalf of the Qua-Toyne principality, for your crimes of war, you are hereby under arrest as you will now face judgment for what you have done".

What was left of the royal guards gathered to try and rescue their king. But it was far too late for any of that to matter as the infiltration team already completed their goals. Placing an explosive charge, a huge hole was made in the wall as right outside was their waiting ship as it decloaked as the team with their target soon boarded.

Once the hatch was closed, the ship flew off as the royal guards could only look on as the metal dragon left.

With the king's capture as the final phase of the plan, the mission was completed.

To be continued . . . .

Author's notes: Not much to initially note. But here is some commentary to fill in any context that wasn't clear.

Psi capable individuals only makes up a fraction of the Terran population. Falmart however changed the entire dynamic of this situation. Though in relation to their entire situation, it is only still a fraction. But it's about to become more common as time goes on due to their research on the planet. As mentioned back in the first chapter due to the implementation of the genetic suppressor markers it created 'happy accidents' as 'happy accidents' are quite common in Terran tech if you read into their lore how a lot of their discoveries and innovations were made that way. Thus as exampled, children of bunny warriors will always have the benefit of inheriting the best traits of both parents due to the unusual nature of their reproduction cycle. Hence if they paired with Terrans who had some psi potential will always result in a child with enhanced psi ability. Now you'd think after learning something like this, the Dominion would make something like this more wide spread adapting this genetic research for everyone hence the point of project phantasm. But based on real world science, this isn't something you let loose into the wild without a very long case study to know ahead of time if there are any down sides or side effects to watch out for. To know the full implementation of such a thing, four decades would not be enough time. Sure they could run it through a computer model to come up with theoretical scenarios. But ultimately in the end evolution does not happen in a lab but in nature where you can't possibly account for every possibility.

The monomolecular blade was introduced in the Starcraft 2 DLC content featuring Nova where she discovers the weapon as part of the research and development that the Defenders of Man were conducting. It's basically a Terran knock off version of the Protoss psi blades. But after the time skip with development and refinement, I would imagine that such technology would be the relative standard for Terrans to use on the field. However it would be restricted to psi users mostly in it's compact form with bigger variations being more common having some sort of alternative power supply.

There were many ways I imagined how the Dominion would conduct this extraction. But ultimately I decided on the most minimalist approach. As noted previously, it would not be wise for Idunn to over invest on resources that they don't have. Sure with their tech it's possible to build up the necessary infrastructure to keep up with the logistics. But also to keep in mind that Idunn was a newly developed colony world with a military branch not designed for that kind of offense. This will play a big part in the next arc as I have been discussing with a few others in brainstorming the likely hood of what will happen next.

But for the most part the following chapter will be the resulting ripple effect of the Dominion's actions to which like canon, we will soon be entering the Parpaldia arc.

On another note, I can't wait for Mu to officially be introduced. They will be formerly invited to visit Idunn as they are one of the few civilizations capable of understanding what Idunn is. Especially the huge culture shock they'll experience where once they thought was merely science fiction isn't fiction anymore. However I wasn't certain how the Dominion will react to them since they were formerly from Earth. Mu comes from a time far before certain Terran groups were exiled to the Koprulu sector. This is before recorded history mind you when they used to be a major power on Earth along side Atlantis before the summoning. For the natives of Idunn, most of them being from Falmart, such information wouldn't mean much to them. But for the Terrans, I believe it shouldn't mean anything to them either since they would be quite different to the humans of Earth that they know of.

If there are any questions or concerns feel free to ask as I'll try to answer them.

So thank you for reading as I further extend my gratitude if you can review as well.
