Chapter 2: A Great Responsibility

Gil to work! The blue-haired boy made the decision to participate in a wrestling match to get the desired reward of $3000. All with the aim of buying a car to impress the girl he liked. The boy knew that he had to improve the use of his new powers in order to win the fight. So he was practicing in alleys and abandoned buildings, his agility, strength and endurance. As he was getting ready, he knew he had to make himself a suit. Well, wrestlers must wear a costume. In addition, he preferred to make himself a suit with a mask to prevent anyone from recognizing him. The boy had difficulties, because he decided to learn the art of sewing on his own. Using guides and videos, he learned to sew and use the sewing machine (which belongs to his aunt May) to create an improvised costume. Obviously, all this was done behind the back of May and Ben. After a lot of work, one or another puncture of the needles, he got it. He created a completely blue suit with long sleeves and pants. He decided to wear red accents like long red boots and socks, red fingerless gloves and a red hooded sweater and a red mask with white eyes. And by inspiration from the spider that gave him the powers... he made himself a little black logo of a spider symbol. Obviously, the suit was very homemade and not very flashy. But it was evidently a makeshift suit for fighting.

The day of the fight had arrived. Gil decided to keep his new costume in his backpack and planned to leave the house without his uncle or aunt noticing him. However, they were in the room.

"Gil, where do you think you're going?" Aunt May asked worriedly.

"Euh…..I forgot to tell you that I'm going to the library to study with...Goby! He needs my help urgently hehehe" Gil said nervously. Obviously, he was lying.

"Awwww so good that you help your best friend" May said happily.

"If you want I'll take you to the library in my car" Uncle Ben offered.

"Oh euh….No thanks, Uncle. I can go alone" Gil refused his offer.

"Come on….I insist" Ben replied.

"You know how Ben is. He won't leave you alone until you accept" The old lady giggled.

"(sigh) Alright…..Take me" Gil rolled his eyes.

Gil reluctantly accepted his uncle's offer. Evidently he would have to take a different route when his uncle drops him off at the library. Ben actually used that trip as an excuse to talk to his nephew about something very important. The ride was silent until they reached their destination, in front of the library.

"Thanks for the trip…" Gil wanted to leave the car quickly.

"Wait a minute, Gil. I….I want to talk with you now" Ben interrupted his plans. Gil was a little bothered.

"Ugh….Does it have to be now? Can't it be later?" Gil asked rolling his eyes.

"I won't be long, Gil. It's been a lot of time since we talked. In fact, you hardly talk to me or May. You've been so weird lately" Uncle Ben shared with him his worries. Gil realized that his uncle was noticing his new behavior.

"I don't know what you're talking about" Gil commented nervously.

"You hardly spend time with us. You spend a lot of time alone or in your room or outside. You are late for school and sometimes you skip classes. You got into a fight at school…." His uncle explained it.

"Ugh! I thought that was clear. Dash started the fight. What did you want me to do?! That he let me hit? If he hits me, no one complains. But now that I defended myself, everyone is complaining. That's not fair!" Gil crossed his arms bothered.

"Do you know Gil? Dash probably deserved what happened to him. But, the fact that you can beat him, does not give you the right to do so. Gil, you are going through a stage where a man becomes the person he is going to be for the rest of his life. Be careful what you can become. If you have something different from others. A skill or gift...you must use it for the greater good. Never forget this: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" Uncle Ben gave him his biggest advice.

"I think you worry too much, uncle. I won't become a criminal or something. I don't need you to lecture me all the time. I am a teenager and I am just growing up. Obviously I'm changing. I will not be a child forever" Gil was bothered with him.

"I'm sorry Gil. I don't want to bother you or interfere in your decisions. Listen...I know I'm not your dad but..." He tried to apologize.

"Stop believing that you are my father!" Gil raised his voice. They both fell silent at those words. The blue-haired boy saw his uncle's sadness upon hearing those words. Luckily, Ben tried to hide the pain.

"I know...Gil...I'll pick you up at 9:00 p.m here…..See you soon…." The older adult decided to let his nephew out of the car. Gil walked out slowly and seemed to be sorry for saying those hurtful words to his uncle. The man who had raised him. When he wanted to return to apologize, he was already gone. Gil sighed and thought that when he got home, the first thing he would do would be to apologize to his uncle Ben.

Finally, the boy decided to go somewhere completely different from the library. He went to a wrestling stadium. The place where the battle for the 3000 dollars would be. He decided to line up to sign up and wrestle that night. What was not expected was to see defeated fighters in the combat ring full of wounds and even broken bones by the powerful fighter: Skullbreaker! He was a big black fish with muscles and his body was covered in white skull tattoos. He was an arrogant and very violent man who enjoyed breaking the bones of his opponents. The boy was intimidated, but he needed the money so he took the risk and signed the contract. Where they weren't responsible for all the injuries Gil might suffer and Parker was participating with his own free will.

The night of the fight arrived. In that stadium, several fighters fell defeated before the infamous and ruthless Skullbreaker. The crowd was praising the violent fighter. Gil was nervous, although he felt that he could beat him with his new powers. Before entering the ring through the ramp, he saw how the last fighter who faced SkullBreaker finished. He was very badly injured and was being taken to an ambulance. It seems that this type of fights was not very legal. In the narrator of the fight he began to speak into the microphone.

"Are you ready to meet the next victim of SkullBreaker?!" The narrator asked loudly. The crown was crazy and shouted happily "We are going to meet the next fighter who will try to fight against the champion. If he resists 3 minutes on foot, the fighter will take home the grand prize of $3000. So, Ladies and Gentlemen, salute the opponent! Say hello to..." The crab man was confused and he whispered to Gil "Tsk What's your name?"

"Euh….Gil? Mmmm Did I need a stage name?" Gil said confusedly and nervously.

"(sigh) Whatever…..EJEM…..Say hello to the opponent of the night. Say hello to the Amazing Spider-Guppy!" At that moment, Gil took a deep breath and appeared to enter the fighting ring. The public began to boo and make fun of him. They knew that young boy had no chance with the champion fighter.

"Hahaha! That child is going to die!"

"Call your mommy!"

"You better make your will. We'll call the morgue for you!"

"That boy just dug his grave!"

Those things were said by the public that was very rude. Gil, or as they call him in the ring, Spider-Guppy entered the ring. The boy decided to stare at SkullBreaker. His nerves were very high, but he had to calm down if he wanted to survive only 3 minutes. But there is something that Gil did not expect. The fight would be caged. They placed a huge cage to prevent the fighters from leaving the ring.

"Uh oh! The ad didn't say it was a cage fight" The Spider-Guppy commented nervously.

"What's wrong with you, insect? Fear of the cage? Do not worry, kid. We're going to have fun for three minutes!" SkullBreaker smiled evilly.

RING RING!

The fight for $3,000 dollars had begun. The professional wrestler decided to run straight at him. Gil used his sixth sense to be able to jump towards one of the walls of the cage. And with his power to stick to things, he clung to the cage wall out of his rival's reach.

"(This opponent looks very strong. I have to be careful with that guy. He isn't like Dash)" Gil thought of a way to beat him fastly.

"Get down from there, coward! Come here and I'll pickle you!" Skullbreaked tried to provoke him.

"Be careful what you ask for. I don't want to turn you into sushi!" Gil used his height advantage to jump onto the fighter's back and knocked him down with a swipe of his fin. Making SkullBreaker fall to the ground, shocking the audience. But he got up quickly and managed to punch Gil in the face hard. The boy collided with the wall of the cage and the fighter grabbed him by the neck to throw him to the other side of the ring. Those powerful attacks left Gil very injured. Luckily, another of his superpowers that he discovered is his great resistance. The blue-haired boy managed to get up with difficulty and saw how Skullbreaker was going to hit him again. But he used his sixth sense to dodge him and land a flipper smack on his face. The opponent wanted to get up but Gil hit him up to launch the opponent into the air. And while Skullbreaker was in the air, Gil jumped up and slammed his fin to send his opponent into the center of the ring. This big attack dealt him a lot of damage, and this time, Skullbreaker stayed on the ground and was knocked down.

"It's over! All hail the new champion, The Amazing Spider-Guppy!" The narrator grabbed Gil's arm and lifted it up into the air as a sign that he was now the new wrestling champion.

"Spider-Guppy! Spider-Guppy!" The crowd was praising his name. Before they made fun of him, and now they had to swallow their words by beating the champion. Gil was smiling under the mask, because that meant one thing: He won the $3,000! And with that, his plan to buy a car would come true. However, not everything goes as he wants.

Gil arrived at the office where he was to claim his grand prize. What he didn't expect was how bad the agent was. The crab decided to only pay him a small part of the real prize. That, of course, angered Gil.

"WHAT?! Only 100 dollars! The ad said $3000!" Gil shouted bothered. He was still wearing the homemade suit, he just didn't wear the mask.

"Read the ad well, boy. $3,000 for 3 minutes. You beat him in 2 minutes. You should feel lucky, new champion" The crab man smiled.

"You do not understand! I need the money" Gil was bothered with him.

"Since when are your problems my problems? Get out or I'll call security. Enjoy your BIG prize, kid" The man smirked a little. Gil clenched his fists and he decided to leave him.

Gil was upset. In fact, he didn't notice that when he left the office, someone suspicious entered as well. He was a lobster man in black clothes and a black cap. The blue-haired boy was resigned to going home with only $100. He was waiting for the elevator. And it took a while. The boy noticed that there was a noise from the office. At that time, the locust man was running around with a bag full of money. A security guard and the crab man who was the victim of the robbery were following him.

"STOP HIM! CATCH THAT THIEF!" The crab man shouted. Gil saw that the thief wanted to take the elevator from where the guppy wanted to use. He saw that the robbery victim was the man who swindled him. The boy, guided by revenge, decided to let the subject take the elevator. Basically, he gave him room so he could escape.

"Hehehe thanks, kiddo!" The thief said before the elevator doors closed in front of his face. The security guard was late

"You let him get away! I will call the police immediately" The security guard said before leaving as soon as possible.

"What the hell is wrong with you?! You could have stopped him. That thief is taking my money!" The crab man was bothered with Gil.

"Since when are your problems my problems?" Gil smirked a little. The man realized that they were the same words that he used with him. He just left upset. Gil smiled because he executed revenge on him. Just as Gil lost money, now it was his turn to pay him. However, that decision would be the worst mistake of his life. In fact, it will be something that Gil will remember forever.

The blue-haired guppy changed his clothes to casual clothes so his uncle wouldn't find out about his lie. But something strange happened, Gil arrived at the library and did not see his uncle's car on the street. He was nowhere to be found. There was a group of people and two police officers gathered. Gil decided to approach out of curiosity. People were scared by what they saw. It was an elderly guppy male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was lying on the floor in pain and dying.

"Nobody can pass!" The agent said seriously.

"No…No…NO! He's my uncle?!" Gil screamed, scared to see that this man was his Uncle Ben. The boy walked through the crowd and quickly approached your uncle. He sat down on his knees to be next to Ben "What happened to him?"

"A thief shot him and stole his car. The police are chasing him. The ambulance is on the way" The police officer said.

"Uncle Ben! Uncle Ben! Im here! It's me, Gil!" Gil wanted to cry. The old man turned to see that his nephew was in front of him.

"M…My Gil….Youre….here" Uncle Ben smiled at him.

"Im here! Please resist! Help is coming!" Gil started to cry softly "Im sorry! Forgive me for what I said earlier!"

"Gil…It's okay….It's okay…Gil...please...Just promise me one thing...Take care of...Take care of May for me..." Uncle Ben was very weak.

"Do not say those things. You're gonna get out of this... Just…" Gil tried to calm him.

"Swear it to me...Gil...Please…."

"I….I….I promise…." The boy said quietly.

"Gil...take care of yourself...and take care of her…..my boy…..my son….." Saying those words, Uncle Ben closed his eyes. He gave a heavy sigh and finally, he died. He could no longer bear the injury because of his advanced age. Gil was in shock and started crying.

"NOOOOO…BEEEENNNN! " The blue-haired boy cried on his deceased uncle's shoulder. He stayed like that for a few minutes until he decided to dry his tears and get up. Gil heard that the police were following the thief. So, with a new sense of revenge, the boy decided to run into an alley and changed his clothes. He put on the homemade suit that he used in wrestling to prevent the thief or anyone else from recognizing him. Gil decided to use his superhuman agility and ability to climb walls to begin the hunt for his uncle's killer.

The masked seeker of revenge started doing parkour to follow his uncle's car. Which was driven by the killer. It was complicated because of the big buildings and because it was night. However, the police were following him. So it was not difficult not to find thief decided to get out of the car and locked himself in an abandoned building so that the police would not enter. And in fact, the agents could not enter for several minutes. Gil decided to break one of the windows in order to enter the building and find him. The thief was nervous because he felt that someone else was with him. The killer pulled the gun from him so he could defend himself. Gil was climbing on the roof, stalking the killer.

"Hello, miserable!"

"Huh?! Who are you!" The killer pointed his gun everywhere because he couldn't see who was talking to him.

"Someone who seeks revenge. Revenge for the old man you just killed"

"Who cares about that old man's life!" The man shouted.

"I care!" At that moment, the masked man appeared in front of him and began to beat him. The killer wanted to use his gun, but Gil took the wrist and broke it.

"AGGGGHHHH!"

"Very well! You will pay for what you did…Huh?!" The masked man was scared to see who the murderer was. Turns out that guy is the same guy who stole the money from the man who scammed Gil. The guppy was shocked to see that the man he let go was the same person who murdered his uncle. Gil was scared. Basically, Gil accidentally caused the death of his uncle Ben. The boy didn't react until the thief tried to stab him with a knife.

"DIE!" The subject tried to kill Gil with his dagger. But thanks to the sixth sense, the masked guppy managed to grab his hand and took the gun away. And then punch him in the face. Gil decided to grab the thief by the shirt to bring him closer to the window.

"You know something? I'll make sure you never kill anyone again. This is for Ben!" Gil decided to prepare to throw the thief out the window so that he would suffer a falling death. Well, they were on a very high floor of the building.

"NO! NO PLEASE! MERCY" He begged for his live.

"And why didn't you have mercy on the old man? Now suffer!" The masked guppy wanted to throw him now to kill him. But at this moment, Gil started to remember the words of his dear uncle.

Gil remembered the words that he did not appreciate from his uncle at that moment. He was realizing that this was not the right thing to do. Revenge was not what he was meant to do with his power.

"No…..This is not what Ben would have wanted..." Gil decided to leave the thief on the same floor. To make sure he doesn't escape, the masked man used a rope to tie the killer to a pillar of the building. Gil decided to leave him alone there for the police to arrive. Gil jumped out the window to get out of the place and escape doing parkour. When he left, the police managed to enter the building and saw the thief trapped. The agents began to search the entire place who caught the thief. But they found no one.

Gil decided to watch the murderer's arrest from a safe distance. The boy took off his mask and covered his head on his "knees" to start crying again. He knew that life would be hard without his beloved Uncle Ben. The man he could call: Dad. Now, he knew that he should break the news to her aunt May... If she hasn't heard yet, because surely she already knows. The blue-haired boy decided to go home. He took off his clothes to put on his casual clothes. He entered the house and saw his Aunt May with tears in his eyes. They both looked into each other's eyes and it wasn't necessary to say a single word to know why she was crying. She found out about Ben's death. They both hugged each other tightly and cried together. They didn't want to accept the harsh reality, but they had no other choice. Ben was a good husband to May and a good father figure to Gil. Now, everything was uncertain for the Parker family.

Wow, this chapter has been very sad. It's hard to see how Gil is learning about the responsibility of his powers in the worst way. Actually, the life of the arachnid character is not very happy. It is full of tragedies and sad moments. And do you know? We'll see a bit of this very soon.
